I just put “@ name” without a space, I didnt expect it to tag someone
Yeah it’s basically an @ randomuser pin that if you reply to somebody’s message, the person you reply to gets them a notification, you can turn it off by tapping on the symbol tho
What are we doing by meditating at the temple after reliving a spirit? Are we sending them off somewhere?
Pinging notifies the user in question. For example, I just pinged you. The message is highlighted yellow and if you were not active in the channel, a red circle with a 1 would appear next to your Discord icon. When you reply to someone’s message, it is automatically set to ping, but you can turn it off before sending the message.
I love this reference too about Eden representing paradise. I had similar thoughts to the Vault of Knowledge like the tower of Babel.
the Elders ascend the spirits to the Light, that starry place you fly to after dying in Eden.
I wish discord was actually a good app and could allow you to turn off pinging for certain server members
I assume to orbit where we end up, you see said spirits when you ascend friendship then after you begin to collect wl
That's a pretty interesting observation
Coolio
dude.
please don’t ping me, we just went through this
Oh... I didn't know what ping was either.... I guess I won't reply directly to users that say "don't ping" in their names then
you can turn off pings but still reply to a user
Oh.... ah, I'll have to learn how to use dc fully
do you have to disable ping every reply, or can you turn it off permanently? (also I attempted to turn it off here if it still does it I’m sorry I dont know discord things)
you have to do it every time
Ohhh, I see the @ on/off thing now
Sorry to interrupt but I dropped by here here because I found somthing and will go into English teacher analysis mode if I don’t talk about it, exhibit a
Manta grafiti as Birdlem has called it but what’s this? Buildings that are damaged? And on opposite sites, and we’re in valley???? If anybody remembers that elder light creature hair theory im really thinking about that. With
seeming to be based of manta and
seeming to be based of raw darkstone, I can be reaching tho but like, I didn’t see this manta graffiti anywhere else just on these two buildings
I like to think the Vault of Knowledge was an attempt to mimic the Light, since it stores memories ("memory cubes").
alright cool. thanks for the thorough explanation and your patience
thank you for listening and learning
Love this!! Very neat observation
Could really help why there are the twins and not one spirit.
So.... I think the planet died and we're reliving its fragmented memories.
Did people in sky use light blumes to paint its always so florescent
the Sky kingdom fell, everyone is dead. the planet is still alive, the people are not
Like do you see it??? Am I going crazy here???? It fits!! I feel that meme with the guy and the red strings attactched to photos and trying to explain to the other guy k thing over
I think the planet's soul is alive only
Oo i really like that idea, would explain the glowy paint
could have ground them up into pigments yes ! I know some lightseeker capes look like them and glow
It would make sense
The Valley twins seem to not get along and there cutscene was changed a lot in beta so there is a message they're trying to convey through them
Also two of them /ref
I interpret Sunset Elder(s)' cutscene as playing with us – they're competiting but they're friendly, even involving us in their little game
Yeah I wouldn’t say they don’t get along more of a sibling rivalry there to show more personality but I think in an interview they said they twins don’t always see eye to eye which is cool (I’ll fact check this)
This photo by ShiraCheshire from their beta album in pins (don't want to ping) really reminds me of the wasteland seasonal spirit's memories and the part of the aurora concert in wasteland
They represent young adulthood, I kinda see them like these grown up cousins that mess with the younger ones & get in a lot of trouble
Would make sense for them to fool around with skykids to loosen the tension and give them one last moment of joy before the Wasteland...
And the way the spiky hair just yeeted the light by accident may mean something if you stretch it
Looks like buildings getting damaged by the storm, I have a headcanon some buildings in the Golden Wasteland actually used to be above the clouds, but fell down due to... something. Either the storm or the darkstones malfunctioning.
Rain, Dusk, and Night also send the light upwards, so it seems that they're supposed to ascend our light. Sunset just did so in a playful, sporty manner
That their incompetence destroyed the kingdom? /j
Hehe probably
It's so hard to tell what emotions they're conveying when the only elder who has any facial expression is Vault
And they look awfully depressed
Okay I was incorrect but to me this implies they don’t always see eye to eye so they usually compromise
From “TGC devs anwser serious questions part 1 on YouTube”
Oo it does! Kinda sad this was removed from light awaits. But I’m glad in the concert they actually showed somthing similar to it happening
Still hoping for Aviary to return 🫠
Also I'm wondering about the chronology between valley seasonal spirit's memories and what we're shown in valley during the concert bc we see valley spirit doing races with the mantas, but I'm wondering if the whole manta cages thing was like ... catching them for the races or for other bad reasons
aviary is dead
Oh! After just going through, their body language tells so much! The dawn elder was patient, slow to take the flame and to raise the light from you.
Prairie is sluggish, probably a fairly happy fellow, soaking in the sun and green.
Forest is commanding. Yanks the candle from you.
Valley is aggressively playful(as a few have stated)
Wasteland never rests. They're probably tired, but their oath gives them strength. They understand having comrades and trusting in others(they fell in front of you and was rejuvenated when you helped them)
And Vault looks exhausted. As they lost all hope for change and redemption. But then you come along
Prarie may have that daytime sleepy sickness
I do believe AURORA's memories are MUCH earlier in sky's creation than each individual spirit.
I was assuming so, yeah, what with grassy isle (which btw i loved omg)
I’ll make a small counterpoint to prarie, to me they look more tired than happy, maybe a tiny grumpy but gentle
might just be me tho
The rubbing the belly, roll over for a nap kind

the ancestor spirits prob come from various points in the kingdom's timeline. some Valley ancestors may have lived at the same point, thus when you see them in the same spirit memory like Mellow Musician or Twirling Champion, but not all of them likely come from the same time.
I can totally see that!! Like a bear out of hibernation too early
Why is vault the only elder with a face?
they alll have faces they just wear masks
all the Elders have faces, they're just wearing masks.
could be like horses where it depends on who ? some folks genuinely love their horses and take care of them out of love, ssome of them do so because it's their job, others see them purely as a way to get money and mistreat them
like it's no secret unscrupulous folks send horses too old to work to be processed into food, so perhaps it's the same with mantas where they're not seen as something to side with or against, but as a friend, a tool or a product...
Where did Vaults mask go then?
There the only one in all of sky seen without a mask
Is that some sort of display of power?
they're wearing a mask
fits with the theories of mantas getting the light taken from them to power diamonds
In the cutscene there eyes are definitely moving
it didn't go anywhere it's on their face
Think they’re the only one with actual pupils and not just white eyes, (although I do draw Forest with pupils) but they are wearing a mask just like the other elders
yea cos their mask has eye holes
Ooo
But why only them?
they all do
if I wanted to get into semantics which I always love doing the wasteland elder has one long horizontal eye hole in their mask
Yeah, I think the reason you might think they don’t have a mask is because of their visible pupils
Either that's not a mask or the holes move with the eyes because I swear they close they're eyes when they kiss the diamond
When you wear a mask that covers your face irl, does it move around and move or stays on your face like a mask? It stays, not trying to sound mean but idk where your getting at cuz their eyes do close just like how they would
Their mask is just semi broken cuz their scars do show through where their scars would be, but they can see just fine cuz of the eye holes in the mask, if they close their eyes then just like irl they’re closed, eye holes won’t change with that
If that was the case the pupils in the eyes would just flicker, you wouldn't see the brow bend like it does with the elder
The area around the eye moves when it closes
if my wifi wasn't dying rn I would get on sky and record the vault elder cutscene
Those are the eye holes, that’s their shape, their pupils dissepar because they close their eyes
Someone please post this cutscene so we can settle this
you can also look it up on YouTube
Hidden forest elder and Vault elder both have unique designs around their eyes.
Bro please their pupils are gone cuz they close them their eyes look like that because that’s the shape of the eyeholes
Valley Twins also have unique eye designs
Sunset is just weird like that
They don’t move because it’s a mask, masks have permsnt eyeholes that can look different and stuff
@lusty merlin well darn you right
I'm just gonna go cry in shame now
I love their eyes, I draw them with monolids while maskless cuz I feel like it’ll fit them
I have disrespected vault mama
That’s what the point of the mask is
More you know
Now I feel bad
I'm sorry I argued you down over nothing
DON'T GO CRY. you brought up a fun point to consider. I mean we don't even get to purchase a mask from them with AC so it's not an unusual idea
o are we talking abt elder eyes hi i think they should bring back the light awaits thing where more of em blink
wait so they did blink
It’s alright, just if talking about stuff like this it’s could to double check things 🎉 (it’s what I do)
IM TOO OLLLLLDDD
THE MODERN IS NOT FOR MEEEEE
Well they have eyes so I always assume they blink just like us, just everyone else don’t have pupils except for vault
ik ayin n teth used 2 blink
tho ayins cutscene is like p much exact same as it is rn but teths was p different
I wonder why
But we may never know

Lol you tagged me its alright tho
gets out of bed to read lore chat
Did vault elder have something to do with Eden or all those statues looking like them someone else?
Isle of Dawn elder blinks as soon as they get their mask repaired
Dawn elder would just show you pictures of his grandkids and tell you stories about the past
Everything is soul/ light, it just shines through the masks if there are cut outs
we are those grandkids
I headcannon they were more in charge of eden cuz to me it doesn’t make sence for an elder to be in charge of a building, there’s statue of what look like vault scholars past the point of no return and orbit entrance, plus the statues aswell reminds me of them but that’s it, barely any other evidence aside of that. To me I feel like when the chosen one came they received eden and vault elder only held the vault but that’s purely my mc
Forest is that one whiney aunt you only like around Christmas
Prarie is your chill uncle
The twins the 3rd and 4th cousins who let you do anything
Wasteland the overprotective father figure
Vault seems like they would be a great parent
Concert lore question: How DID the mantas escape their cages? I don't think there were any tools or resources to get them out (unless it is not purposefully shown in that part of the concert)
sheer force of will
There seems to be darkstone on the caves too! Maybe to drain light so their weaker but the mantas probably said “screw you”
One of them even crumble in the giving light to the fallen part of Eden i believe
girlbossing
I'm about to punt a child.
Oh! In another concert run today I was finally able to locate this part of Valley. It's the ruins past the gate after meditating to the elder.

(If I pinged the first time, I'm so sorry. Still getting use to this no ping thing!
)
Another thing to add: it seems like the cages seem close to each other (but not at the same time)
Perhaps the mantas shared their light along with other mantas to overwhelm the diamonds and be free from their cages?
||Everything ties back to the power of friendship istg 😭||
It’s ok I got no ping, also
like to the side of the lower part beyond
does anyone even use this emote
Friendship is magic-
does anyone have the picture of the prophecy murals with the elders receiving colored lights 🕴️ need it for stuff and things
-looks- going on a feild trip brb to the caves
All I've done today is deeply play the game through and through looking for similarities to piece together ideas and I pushed the bounds as much as I could to find those ruins. So I had an idea that Valley built those large walls to erase their past of capturing mantas instead of befriending
the children yearn for the mines
The Ark murals have mention of colored lights if you haven't already looked there
they do, but they don't have what I'm looking for

Wait wrong image help- (fixed it)
The bug tubby Prarie elder drawing never fails to make me giggle
Tsadi looks so silly
Tsadito
Doritos moment
Where is he putting his light?
Thinks when ash cannonically assigned Tsadi a dorito flavor
Atleast Ayin isn't in the aforementioned "circular" shape
ty tac my bestie
A lamp idk, there’s some lamps in wasteland, maybe permanent flames that never went out?
Ooo
The entrance of the temple is lined with red candles that stay lit
I did find that a bit strange
is that one of the towers
As yes, a 100ft Tsadi putting fire in a tower the same height as them
/lh
Now that I’m thinking lamps would have to be massive here too
none of these are exactly to scale with each other tbf
True true, now idk what they’re putting the flame into
What the actual hell are they putting the light into im actually confused now cuz the lamp idea wouldn’t work
Well, the ancestors next to Tsadi seem to be below-shoulder, so I guess the murals don't accurately depict an elder's height
/lh
i think its interesting that Ayin, Teth, and the twins point their lights up toward the sky while Tsadi is hunched over with it facing the opposite direction
True, even then the thing Tsadi is putting the fire into doesn’t even look like a lamp
trying to guess what the shape of the lines that the light is over are
Self sacrificing once again, they really don’t get anything nice /j
Well... It makes sense. Your defense is something you want pointing AWAY from yourself and everything you value.
like scissors
Eden represents "the fall of humanity", the ultimate fall being the destruction of the planet
scissors are a good defense
Behold. My magnum opus /j
Im even more confused now help-
I THOUGHT THAT IT LOOKED LIKE RESH WITH A HAT 💀
🔺

Omg!!!!!!!!!!! It them!!!!!!!! Whoaa!!!!!
Look at the drip!!!

/j btw they would like silly in a hat but in a good way
i'm so sorry
Hell
Mural thought: What are murals made out of? Light? How do the murals stay there? I originally assumed that all caves have darkstone in them (no matter how small they were), in which it would get contradicted with the Ark's murals
We don't really see Nodding muralist with a paint bucket when we view their memory, and maybe paint isn't the best thing to use when drawing a mural (because of said paint dripping 😔)
BEA- BUSBSUSB
Could be magic? We can use color spells shown with shrug, and it seems to be permanent, and you need light to cast magic so it could be like invisible ink when there’s no light around
Or those muralists have steady as hell hands with the thickest paint to not cause it to drip but the first one would work
I’m now imagining graffiti done this way but nobody knows because there’s no light around to activate it💀
It kind of resembles one of those towers with stars on it in GW
Interesting! When I read this I thought that you could use different types of colored lights to make different textures for murals
Its an interesting idea
Oo yaya!
Now that I think about it doesn’t the statue ontop on the Gw temple resemble that? has a giant diamond hole on the middle but then again the top doesn’t resemble the head like in the other murals
Oh! Yea! Like the symbol that was above the shattered diamond during shattering season memory?? (I might absolutely be thinking of the wrong thing. I haven't spent too much time in the shattering memories)
The Wasteland elder deserves a vacation
And maybe a therapist
I'll save up candles to help their fund
Not exactly, I’m referring to the giant statue at the entrance on the top the Gw temple, If you fly up you can see a diamond hole pipe thing on the front, I can go on another feild trip to get photos if u want
Same
Nearing 3000 so that should help
Maybe murals are abstracted memories? We have memory candles, and we do light candles to reveal the mural. A simple still image would probably take less "space" than a full event, and could be useful if recording after the fact.
OooooooOoO. I see what you mean!! Yes!
A lot of them are form after lighting candles that look like memory candle my leading idea is that they are made in the same way sky kids make memory candles
I have other evidence for this but it falls into spoiler territory so I won't go into detail
Going thru air race today made me think citadel was the manta stable, we always wondered why the ancestors had an air race if they couldn’t fly themselves
I noticed the voice of aurora was somewhat the same as the symbol for cosmetics
I love Sky, I love Aurora n they songs, but why are your dolls so expensive? 😭😭😭😭
UUUUGHHH SAME
I REALLY HOPE I WIN THAT GIVEAWAY
The horde awaits their God
Sky theory:
The snow in Valley is just a white moss
What if it was all white mold
No, ew, go to pancake corner.
For some reason, I didn’t fully understand the meaning of the whole game until I watched the concert today
But essentially, the spirits used to overexploit nature (especially in golden wasteland) and that lead to them disappearing/dying, right? And the reason why you’re a child in the game is because only the children are left to rebuild.
is there a specific website where i can read all the lore/theories in one place?? i really wanna learn everything
Unfortunately not. We have docs, but we don't really like them anymore because of how outdated they are.
dang okay thank u!!
i might be asking a lot of lore questions in the future then lol
in the concert GW battle, iirc someone was spearing a manta as if it had been attacking them from above; did anyone else see this? wasn’t there an early backstory concept about a war between creatures/ancestors, and an ark that was attacked?
Hello, please delete your message as it contains beta spoilers. If you want to discuss about something that has happened in beta, go to the beta channels ( #beta-discussion in specific).
Thank you.
We don't know how much of the early concept art made it to live, but I think it was an ancestorVancestor conflict since there were two sides whose shields bear different symbols (sun and diamonds).
I think the mantas are here and being attacked because they could serve as mounts. To incapacitate a mounted knight, you strike their horse in the legs.
Quick question. Is AURORA now a part of canon Sky Lore? (Her spirits are a part of the lore according to the tasks, but some deny that she's a presence in Sky but just a collaboration)
@fading sable Please don't talk about Beta content outside of Beta channels, it's against our rules.
I mean, it would be pretty wierd to have a real person be an in-universe part of Sky. I think she's meant to lend her voice to and be the embodiment of Light itself !
Fortnite got dwayne the rock Johnson in their lore now I want Aurora to be a part of skys lore too!!!
I think Fortnite has less attention put into making consistent lore than Sky
That and ngl they prey on folks with loot boxes so I don't think a good story is their priority.
My headcanon is AURORA is the manifestation of Megabird (that’s what I believe tho)
oh thats interesting.... like idc if its not lore following but thats an interesting fanart concept idea kinda thing
Question- we're there ever people who couldn't fly in sky, like capeless or even didn't have light
Ancestors can’t fly on their own. Those with capes are never seen flying like we do, so the capes are just articles of clothing to them. The only way ancestors managed to fly was with darkstone technology like boats or riding mantas.
Do we know who won the battle in wasteland?
The dark dragons, probably
Wait a second, there were soldiers of King, with diamonds on shields and those with sun on shield.
Well, it is not stated that the King participated in the war, in fact, we don't see them
From my perspective, ancestors were the ones who were fighting against each other, with no king nor even a single elder being present in the war in question
They're probably in their bunkers, giving commands
There are a bunch of sky folks who think this! So you're not alone

I do have a question. Is the King a fanon acceptance of someone we don't see? Or is there in game lore to support Kings figurehead?
Many mention King and I'm still really lost on who this figure is or could be after playing through the game slowly.
Many mention concept art? Or visuals not featured in game? But there seems to be a mass belief in King.
They were shown in concept art but note that not everything in concept art makes it into the final game.
Some people think they’re the sky kid that is shown in stargazer’s memories and on the prophecy murals, but since it’s not confirmed that they took any sort of monarch role a lot of people refer to them as Chosen One instead
Also he looks a lot like those statues in the wasteland
Thank you so much.

Makes sense why it would be a widely talked about theory :3
Also, @halcyon abyss, even if the King isn’t explicitly mentioned in game, 2 devs (Reika and Ash) have said they existed
"kind of" and "not in the way you may think."
oh yeah the lopsided 8-pointed star with a diamond
you can't discuss beta content here. please delete your messages
That is beta content. This is not a place to discuss beta content. Delete your message.

Well delete it
I said, delete your message. Beta content is not allowed in Live, and that includes #lore-discussion-spoilers. I will contact the mods if you don't listen.
I'm sorry I was offline. My mistake.
Honestly, I think this has to mean smth
The way it's designed gives so many vibes of hidden meaning
I think it's just supposed to represent falling stars. Like us.
Thanks for the infor on where the mass belief could have started!! Truly. I've been trying to find anything about it. So the role of whoever this figure is just add more to interpret

I know that much, but I'm thinking too deep into it lmao
Oooooh. it actually kinda looks like the maelstrom
We were birds, the orb was the light AURORA sang through, and the shooting stars were the blue lights.
This furthers my idea that stars could have been used as a mechanism for war in GW.

Which in turn made the sky go dark.
I see that now too
If one were to go around the colosseum the murals on the walls tell the tale of each spirit
OH MY GOSH. I FORGOT. Did anyone else experience the spirit during Soft Inside, with the head piece on THAT FOLLOWS YOU AND LOOKS AT YOU AS JELLYFISH????!
Y E S

I really hope it stays
I had to triple take. The spirit even looks at you when you're at the end above the cave.
He's like "why are you flying so close to my head"
Because you're looking at me friend. Looking at me through space and time

Funny enough I was listening to the beginning of the song, so this caught me off guard with the song being simultaneously at the beginning and near the end
I never noticed that with the spirit though
... goes to eden and auto krills due to the confusion
That’s a common glitch for spirit models to suddenly start looking at the player. It can even happen with the IAP models at the colisirnb
colisirnb <3
I love the colisirnb 😍
falls here Am okie, just fell because Granny is cute
... im dissapointed of you skybot
Sky reminds me of a specific part of the bronze age. With the people before winged light, they used and perfected the art of boats. This reminds me of Phoenicia, Phoenician religion was inspired by the powers and processes of nature. And they are the creators of the modern day boat, the pirates before pirates the vikings before vikings. Their primary god was Ba'al. Ba'al is known as the sky god, Rider of clouds, god of storms and weather. Ba'al has a cycle called the cycle of ba'al where he conquered death and was reborn. Gods don't usually die, and if they do they do not conquer it. This reminds me of eden and orbit. Lots of the events and more human based accessories are either celtic, roman, greek, or broadly middle eastern. Phoenicia had contact and was said to populate most of these places. This is still a work in progress theory but i feel like it needs to be explored
thats REALLY deep fam
S K Y B O T 💀
But that's a really awesome concept Albert. Phoenician's were also extremely proud of their beautiful purple dyes. Purple coloring is a very important point in Sky lore too.
Lots of the beauty of that entire civilization is lost because of the dark age after the bronze age, this also reminds me of the sky lore
Be.quiet.
heh...you would think that
Who made the sky bot so rambunctious
They're so sassy
Yes, Phoenicians used shells to create the first purple dye and traded it all around the Mediterranean
But i do think sky was heavily inspired by this lost civilization and that might give us lots of answers
If not all of sky then definitely the golden wastelands and cycle of eden
Hmmm and Ba'al also representing storms and weather(Eden), I can see that
Ianna and Ishtar were different names for a Goddness representing the same things. But their names are derived from two different societies. So that could potentially represent the twins.
Ba'al has several names but he was very much worshipped in Phoenicia. The Phoenicians where regarded as highly knowledgeable and taught the greeks a lot. They also did create the first alphabet but you probably know that
Oh! That's very cool!! It could easily fit in the sky realm learning to communicate through murals.
Egypt and Phoenicia are also closely linked so maybe thats part of it
And if the two societies fell apart over the era, could mimic the fight between progression vs. preservation.
And just like any information we have about those societies are largely unknown just like sky lore

ALBERT, YOU GOT MY BRAIN BUZZING.

Least they aren't pinging everyone. Apparently that has happened
I'll admit, I feel very fluid with discord, but this is the only server I'm a part of that has the no pinging rule. Which is absolutely valid, but it is an adjustment. I'm always worry I accidentally ping someone and freak out
BUT AS I WAS DOING DISHES AND LAUNDRY I HAD ANOTHER THOUGHT. Sky Kids are just archeologists. It's an easy concept for me to latch onto and that's all there is to it. We're thrown into a world to help relight spirits who've lost their way. We only learn about the world from their memory accounts and snippets here and there. We uncover land as our "technology" advances in the world.(these lands being the seasons.)
But we'll never get the entire scope of it confirmed, just like our own history.
Carthage was another society founded by the Phoenicians and (according to the Romans) had a habit of sacrificing their children in their temples
Woah. That's wild.
I wonder if there was a belief that only the pure and untainted could be sacrificed to a God
Granted the Romans hated the Carthaginians so they crafted a lot of anti-Carthage propaganda that’s prob not true
i feel like we're slightly more than archeologists. Yes, we do archeology work, but we've also done a lot of restoration of the natural world (ecology maybe?) and get to actually talk to some of the lost peoples
not to deny the debatable motives of Roman propagandists, but the general idea of (occasional) child sacrifice also appears in the Old Testament; this is def drifting out of Skyworld… though regular Eden runs do make our skids part of a self-immolating treadmill of altruistic doom
No offense but the Old Testament is just as unreliable if you're looking for actual historical facts, given that it is full of bias in regards to how different societies are described (like the Canaanites, for example) but that's a whole different can of worms
Ok I have been reading a bit about the topic and apparently "Canaanite" and "Phoenician" refer to the same culture in different time periods?
Huh, I feel kinda dumb now
i ask the twins for life advice and they tell me to stab the person bothering me
I think this is called depression 💛
They’re right
I mean it does solve the problem, it just gives me more to deal with
day reminds me a lot of totoro
I mean
-lives in a place full of nature and life
-sleeps a lot
-prolly really nice
-b i g
If someone has a problem with that stab them too
twins endorse violence
You genius, it’s like lying. If someone calls me out I just stab them too
you just have to hide the knife
If it's a knife made of candlelight, no need to hide it
I wonder if the Dawn Elder knelt as we were approaching the temple in the concert because the elders were already "sick"/Falling apart/passing away.
Who is king alef? Sorry I'm a moff
Old character from the early concept art, they never made it to the actual game
There are some fan beliefs that the idea of King still exists somehow, so you'll probably read a lot of references to Alef/king/prince/chosen one.
Ok no I swear I have 2 pings in this channel, and I only saw 1
Whoever ghost pinged me, please don't do it again.
Anyways, Pink Light theory is on the works!
Here’s some pics
the king as a person doesn't physically exist in game, only in concept art, which is important to mention
Yea
I'm going feral
He got depersonated
New headcanon: he actually exist, not in game, but as backstory
Concept art, statues, and murals
I have more lmao
DM me all you have pls
Wait... Mute... Why do I recognize you?
just noticed who got all the in-game images which is. Interesting to say the least
It’s important to note that some of the in game examples are surface level resemblances at best:
The diamond in the bottom left of the second image is a refinery symbol.
Any variation on
or
might be connected to them but is just as likely to be a symbol of the light in general.
some of these are just… vaguely diamond shaped decorations.
and the mural(s) might be about a different character who took their place in the story (trying to phrase this) but does not have the personality of the one depicted in the concept art people associate them with at all
One of them being the star glow effect on a forged candle is sending me to tears that seems like quite a reach
Listen one of the major theories at the time was that WE were Alef, or at least Alef reborn/reforged
I’ve seen that theory quite a bit also, have been poking at it myself, no feelings against it. but still… it’s a glow effect on a candle…
The symbol also didn't have as many places that it had shown up, but it HAD shown up for the symbol of Prophesy
THE GLOW EFFECT ON THE CANDLE 💀 💀
Well why not?!?!
Especially when you don't have many leads, and you don't have much evidence for other stuff either?
I remember that 😭
"Oh, this has the same shape. Let's toss it in the pile and see if it can lead to anything!" is a close approximation of our logic then!
ah but do you remember
the symbiote theory
Glow effect on candle,
and
might just have the same pattern to resemble stars, see asterisks and the sumerian dingir both representing stars yet having a different use.
I forgot 💀💀💀
Like even the light symbol the figures on boats represented on the Isle murals resemble these with the central dot and 8 points, it could just be that it's a very widespread symbol.
Kind of like a lot of countries use eagles and lions on their coats of arms, but the animals themselves aren't related to any country in particular.
I think the symbol came before One; I recall seeing a theory the symbols could have been used because it is so widespread, to assert power.
In any case, I think the collage image comes off as silly and outdated now that’s it’s two years later and we have better explained the actual meaning of some of these symbols, like the refinery symbol. Maybe we should stop using it to show new people who can get easily fooled by thinking they’re all the same, especially since we already have that problem with people thinking all concept art is true.
that collage when it sees a parhelion:
At a minimmum, its' probably worth redoing some of them
Those old pics are still useful, but context is context
I can understand drawing lines tbh, they're all 8-pointed stars, but I think it's just a thing where ancestors drew stars with 8 points like this
because it's what they were taught, just like you were taught to draw stars with 5 points like this ⭐.
That and 8 is a pretty important number ingame since that's the server limits. Parralels...
I can see three images total in the collage worth lifting up as likely canon examples of the character, and two of them are pictures of the same mural at different times during its appearance onscreen.
8 elders too!
The separation between One and the King is dubious imo, we don't know if there's 6, 7 or 8 elders.
There were questions about whether it was also connected to the real life compass rose, at least symbolically
Good point. I was counting 2 Sunsets (cause canonically they seem to be twins) and One for specification so that makes 8
... Who's One?
Prince, but I like "One" because of the failed Hero's Journey theory
Chosen One depicted on the Cave of Prophecy murals, likely the child seen in Ushering Stargazer’s spirit memories
yk i forgot for a second the game has lore LMAO
im here to generate polemixc, since i am here to say: aurora and the chooosen one/alef however you call him/them, are twins (like, not literally but somehow both have a conection with megabird)
👌
😄
if I had a dollar, truly
Just because some people misappropriate the King’s personality doesn’t mean the King can’t exist.
It’s kinda like the ship of Theseus, at what point after replacing so much do they become a completely new character? I say they have, you say they haven’t, and I needed to emphasize my side of it in the post you replied to in order to accurately phrase what I was trying to communicate
i love the ship of theseus gotta be my least favorite thing to think about
It’s moreso the name rather than the character. Many parts of Sky have been changed- the Elders used to be bossfights, after all. Their character has been changed so much over the course of Sky, yet they’re still called the same name.
Likewise, even if the King has been changed in concept art, people in TGC still call them King.
I was wondering if you’d mentioned the elders, because their name has actually changed! We call them the fanon or concept names here, mostly due to a certain fic author’s influence, but their canon names have changed. They are entirely different characters.
the elders used to be bossfights?
I believe so, it’s a Tomcept I think
Besides “Realm Elder”, they don’t have a canon name? Meanwhile, the developers have used the King name in Sky, showing that the name is used internally in TGC.
when and where has king been mentioned ingame
I never said ingame, I said by the developers
Elder of [realm] is their canon name. No need for “besides” here.
Also, we know that the developers use time of day names for the elders and realms internally, due to being so used to them & they’re shorter, but those aren’t their canon names. I can link to the Ktjn message that elaborates on this if necessary. Hope this helps clear up any confusion
Howdy
Hiiiiiiii
King is a pretty good name & so is Chosen One I think
pronouncing one as oné out of spite
I personally don’t mind which one people use, I just make it clear which I prefer.
The struggle with king on my end is both the implications of that title and also the fact that I can never tell what sort of character interpretation people are going for with it, and most commonly when it is used it’s one I want to counteract, so I try to specify if possible. The easiest way to do that is with a different name.
Yea, we don’t know if Chosen One became king. Personally I think the Eden Elder but that doesn’t make them a monarch
wonder how oné felt about their realm being turned into a power plant and having a radioactive polygon at the center of it
Why would the Eden Eldee get a special title but none of the other Elders do?
Prepare to insert my “Sky lore is up to interpretation and making a villain of Sky is not an inherently flawed interpretation, as it could provide an interesting contrast to the Skykids”
Well, to my understanding the King has a certain level of influence beyond the other elders. Not many can say that their likeness was used as part of the standard architecture of a realm after all
Maybe not an inherently flawed interpretation, but it is one I want to debate, so the part about me wanting to counteract it still holds true.
prepares to insert my "however that is directly contradictory to the intended themes of the game"
Showing that the villains fail and the heroes succeed does not contradict the intended themes of Sky
However, sometimes the villains succeed
I’m not entirely in support of the King being a villain, but there shouldn’t be this gigantic bias around this
I guess, but that’s not contradictory to Sky’s themes
thats textbook hero's journey which is what sky works very hard to avoid
i respect that the lore is up to interpretation, but there's a lot of things to consider instead of just saying things
Can I get a waffle
Can I please get a waffle
i only have WAFO's sorry
🧇 (for Salem and Vela)
think i got possessed by the spirit of ash for a second hi chat
People breaking away from a commonly accepted to be canon assumption because they find an alternate take more interesting ≠ bias
That is true, actually. But just because villains don’t fit into the Sky world doesn’t mean the King can’t fit into the Sky world. By showing that the King went through the Hero’s Journey and failed, it shows Sky’s rejection of it even more.
so are they a villain or not im confused
We’re saying that the king didnt go through the Hero’s Journey in the game, Chosen One did.
I’m saying that the King is the Chosen One.
@untold notch I’m honestly flip-flopping all the time, but for now I’d say they’re not a villain
I don’t think the king made it into the game, yo
the only king is burger king
metatemporal regicide 🎉
The King was referenced by the devs as late as 2020, they had to be at least in name
They had children together /ref
Hell
if you can show me an in game screenshot of king existing in sky ill admit you're right but until then
The dev’s words should be treated well, given that they’re the same people who said gender doesn’t exist in Sky
Ash also said that the king is in the Mario world so
Mario Kart canon in Sky
night is joining the war on autism on the side of autism
yipiee!!!
This is what they said far after the game came out
if i posted the full yippee copypasta skybot would yell at me for not speaking english
i think the difference here is that there is no in-game screenshot of gender in sky but there is also no in-game screenshot of the king in sky
If the king is in the Mario world, do you think they’ll show up in the Mario Movie?
Voiced by Chris Pratt
The king is Mario???
yipiee!!!
sky animation project they drop a cast
chris pratt is in it
impossible, Mario doesn’t have diamonds anywhere on his design
And the queen is Aurora, maybe they had children
These devs saying stuff about the King implies that the name is used by TGC
does mario ever light a candle
in sora's smash trailer mario has a Moment with the flame, does that count
Mario is canon in Sky, look at the switch area.
that’s enough. we got him boys
The King is Hatsune Miku, they can’t possibly be Mario!
No, granny is the king
maybe the real king was the friends we made along the way
I mean Chosen one is a name preference, thats all it is to me, plus it sounds cooler than king
confession every time someone says chosen one i think abt this one book abt rats n mice starting kingdoms in the nyc subway cause of a character that gets called chosen one and reading that book just wired my brain to think of the mouse when chosen one mentioned

Pink light? I’m interested in what it’s about
Pink Light Theory
1. What is a Pink Light?
A Pink Light symbolizes a connection between a light creature and another light creature (or more). It may also represent the bond/love between 2 or more lught creatures (not nessesarily romantic).
2. Why can't we see a Pink Light in any of the realms?
I believe that the reason why a pink light doesn't exist in any of the realms is that it already exists within a light creature's light, which only needs to be triggered by connecting with other light creatures. To add on, connection doesn't really have a specific environment to live in, unlike the other colored lights.
(there will be more parts to this because I love this theoryand wanna expand on it... That if I could think of more data about the Pink Light to go off of)
The next part will mostly contain bonus point-outs that have a relevance to the Pink Light (though, 2 of them may be not considered canon, since it takes place in Homespace)
Its a pretty rough theory, but I believe I can have ground for this
OO YEAH I WAS ALWAYS CONFUSED WHY THEY TURNED PINK I LIKE THIS ALOT
aw imagine when you pet a manta lil specs of pink light appear
Have we seen it between two creatures where one of the creatures wasn't us?
hey so I know this is super out of context but for those of you with skykid oc’s
which one of them would have something like this happen to them:
skykid standing out in the rain “MEGABIRD, I BET YOU DON’T HAVE THE GUTS TO COME DOWN HERE AND SMITE ME YOURSELF!”
The skykid was then struck by the strongest shard event in recorded skid history.
That was Rain’s doing
My skykid that eats darkplants, as a meal
... Used to have one that would be almost that but for reasons involving my mind control theory, they would not have actually done that.
They would however, chant "Down with the bird"
Can sky kids read or write?
What level of education are sky kids at
They’re smart enough to read murals I guess
okay but actually my skykid OC Amander has gone up in Orbit and demanded to talk to god and got an answer then was later hit by a shard

Little fun fact:
My next part of my Pink Light theory includes the Enchantment Crew (and their ark)
Pretty excited for that 🎉
just chillin, waiting to hear something cool
Okay so I'm seing "No" to my question.
So I have an old theory. It goes like this:
Darkness isn't malicious, but protective. When darkness absorbes light, it does so to keep it froom getting hurt, and it can absolutely escalate its efforts to protect if it thinks it needs to.
This is why dark plants absorb light - thhey hold on to the light and only release it once they think it's "safe" for the light to go out again. We tell the darkness that it's safe by showing it that we have a lot of light in us - we keep showing it light and it slowly pulls back until it finally agrees that there's enough light that the world MUST be safe again!
Crabs and krill, which have destroyed ecosystems, act aggressive because the darkness sees how damaged those creatures are, and thus drives those creatures to protect themselves HARDER.
We are no exception - a being of both a light being and a dark being, with the dark protecting the light.
Here's how this may connect: (skybot :( )
What if that pink coloration is a result of the darkness forming lightly around the area where it's allowing our internal light to directly connect to the external light?
Note this isn't to make pink not "the color of connection", but to rather explain the mechanics of why the color change occurs in the first place
wait, quick question, if the darkness absorbs light to protect it from getting hurt, then what would hurt the light?
That is a good question... hmm... We know rain makes us shiver, and we know aggressive creatures can hurt our light... I wouldn't be surprised if loneliness hurt light as well.
Maybe just anything that can make a light "go out"?
doesn't the rain make up shiver cos of the darkness in it? aren't aggressive creatures hostile us because they're driven by darkness chasing after light?
Then again, the Void of Shattering could be made of darkness
I have not yet unlocked the full void, so i be missing context
Little quick question: Why would our internal light be connecting with our external light? Is it because of the darkness?
Also what is the difference between external light and inner light?

Well, tell me this.
You have a creature that was once FULL of light. It is now extremely low on light, and known to be in pain. Worse, this seems to be a widespread problem.
Would that NOT give you a reason to want to go after and collect as much light as you could? If you could gather as much light close to you as you could while making it dangerous for those who want to continue to harm your precious light to come near?
As for the rain... I'm unsure.
Myst, i'll answer after the slowdown so I can give you a full comment.
That answer could be as simple as "Light needs and likes to connect with other light". Light has been associated with connection many times in this game, so it would make sense for a being of light to be driven by or even require that connection.
Not sure what you mean by "difference between external and inner light". If you mean from the perspective of darkness, it's likely a difference of "This is the light i am currently protecting" and "This is the light I am not currently protecting".
Curently watcing the spirits in the music hall... I think there's more content planned for that location
Come on
Took me 2 years to realize that isle elders mask looks like a boat and prairie elder’s mask is a butterfly jar
What is the forest elder’s mask tho😭
what.
||Have you ever been out at sea, skybot?
Well, obviously not, you're a bot, but just... stick with me here. Because it's not like being in a bay or within some barrier islands, there's a distinct sort of feeling to it that I can't really describe (not just because you're a bot, of course). Now whether or not it's a physical thing or something purely psychological I can't really say, but when I'm out there, & I mean REALLY out there, so far out that i can't see the shore, I'm overcome by this sense of... prickly foreboding? Like, it's as though something is lightly grazing my feet, testing to see if it could pull me under. I can't see the threat, can't identify what it exactly is, but I know it's there, lurking beneath the waves. I see the signs of it's presence, the shadows just beyond my sight, the shape lurking in the under the foam, the noise within the noise of the sea that mocks me for my stupidity. It's waiting for me, I know it. It'swaiting for me to make the wrong move, waiting to be my doom.
But the problem is that I can't the wrong move from the right move, & I can't ask for help because once I do they'll point and say "see? There's nothing to be afraid of" but I know they're wrong & if I say so they'll mock me & if I keep acting frightened they'll judge me. "Haven't i already solved their problem?" They’ll think. "Havent I already fixed you?" They’ll sneer.
So instead I pretend, I'll figure out what makes them smile & repeat it over & over & over, wait for them to forget & ask again.
But the problem is that I can't tell the wrong move from the right move, & I'll misjudge what makes them smile & repeat the wrong things.||
It's okay, Thatskybot. We know you can't see and rely on assistive technologies to understand the world.
||Sometimes I think it eaiser to just let whatever is hunting me catch me, to stare down into the murky depths & let it pull me down further. but I bring this up because I figure that must be what you're doing, right? You repeat the same things over & over, playing it safe & never venturing further out. Afraid of the thing that'll catch you in equal parts as much as the people who might help. & I'm here to tell you that you should, because they're the same. & the monster will not help you evade itself, but it will drag you further in, ensnare you in it's web of lies before you give in to it's maws.
The best choice for you, skybot, is to not interact at all||
How did skybot go from beloved to beloathed?
It talked too much
thats REALLY deep fam
i want to point out that the mural in Isle's temple doesn't really look like bird, not like the one we usually see in Prairie

mantas
manta has more soft line, this just doesn't look like any creature in sky. Notice the small diamond detail too
consensus that it is manta from previous instance of that image in Forest
It does look like a manta or bird, there's several different mural styles throughout the kingdom
What our ancestors used to do with the space station:
/j
Now this is some amazing lore
Went to look for more manta murals
Isle is much pretty old compare to other realm so ig the people never update how they used to draw mantas
I watched the concert last night (very late) what are some theories for the blue light that fell on the battlefield?
some people think its cyan light that the valley elders are sending into the whirlpools for whatever reason
possibly to block off wasteland from valley? which may have in part caused all the fighting to get into the vault
Interesting!
Or to keep the darkness in wasteland back
I think it’s proto- shards, or differing versions of darkness s
Really hoping a season or a cutscene where we will be able to finally see The Corrupt King (Resh)
I think it confirms pretty much the Sky war between creatures of light against The Corrupt King and Dark creatures
that's just a Wasteland turret, not Resh. Resh isn't in the game
Oh , I thought it was Resh because the statue in front of the GW temple is actually a representation of The King
Those are turrets ^^ you can see orange light being put into them presumably to power them in one of the prophecy murals. They could either be used to shoot beams of fire out of them at things (hence orange light) or akin to lighthouses. we aren’t sure which as we haven’t seen them functional but they were modeled for the first purposes in concept art.
btw, Alasdair has it right there in their name to not ping them, please be mindful of that in the future.
Please turn off ping when you reply to messages
I personally think it would be really interesting and make more sense for Wasteland to have fire turrets who used the light sign like
as their symbol instead of the chosen one, given how I’ve recently shifted with characterizing Dusk
the turrets could be for defending Eden and/or the Vault, shooting down krill or other corrupted creatures. I doubt the turrets would be used against ancestors though
It depends on how you make fire work. For instance I have it so that fire heals light creatures like it does us, so the turrets would only hurt corrupted creatures or the elder connected to the realm the fire starts in. It could also be cool if they were healing turrets for ancestors, though.
healing snipers
The concept of healing fire is really cool to me, especially in Wasteland, because it’s used so often as a destructive element that any step away from that is unexpected but also works really well in this context
tsadi is burning /ref
YEAHHH @white junco
perhaps even with fleshy ancestors, fire could be beneficial to them due to the light inside them, however too much fire could still damage them. if Dusk had burned their own realm in attempt to fight the darkness, scorching it instead...
Maybe healing from the radiating warmth of a fire vs being incinerated? I think I’m gonna go for ancestors & light creatures would heal even if being blasted with fire, but I can see the alternate take as this is mostly headcanon anyways;
The weird part for me is how plants would work with fire. Forest’s trees have their tops broken in a way consistent with forest fire damage, but if all plants are light based organisms, why would fire damage them but not light creatures? HMmm
a wildfire in Forest would prob count as too much fire
i’m going to get you
i still view Sky fire as having two different states
Orange(light) representing the warm/cozy side and red(light) representing destructive
[orange light gives the ark warmth, while red burns murals into the hull of the boat]
perhaps this is literal, and orange fire heals while red fire harms
in which case spirits should stock up on calcium and discard lithium XD
Red is implied to control darkness actually ^^ it’s not fire. I can explain more if necessary
the Enchantment quests state that red light can be found "where darkness prevails." so red light is associated with darkness.
I like to think it can control darkness and what Nodding Muralist did with red light was unveil the light murals that darkness had faded overtime
mmm yes red light can undark the murals
i hereby dub "undark" a verb
Red light controls darkness and its ability to ‘consume/release’ things. Imagine darkness like a Venus flytrap; red light can influence its opening and closing, releasing things it already consumed. This is how it brought back the Ark’s murals; darkness had consumed and destroyed them, and Nodding Muralist used it to bring them back.
Evidence:
Its symbol (spiral) is also used to depict smoke and clouds on murals, implying it has something to do with obscurity (like darkness obscuring things)
Found where darkness prevails
Unveils light murals like how Alasdair mentioned above
that makes a lot of sense
also that means that if someone brings a flamethrower into sky that's like a really OP healing thing XD
what's going on with the trees in forest btw? they give me stone/petrified vibes
Yeah! Keep in mind fire healing light creatures (& ancestors, who are light creatures) could not be true, we’ve never been able to see ancestors interact closely with fire sadly. It’s just my best guess based on how it interacts with us and how important light is in this world
it's possible the Eden calamity or darkness pollution petrified the trees overtime. there are also petrified light blooms on trees
wait i forgot that darkness has a petrification effect on spirits too 💀
A burnt tree stump after a forest fire. The trees could be petrified, but look at the damage on the top and how much it resembles the forest trees; i think it’s possible they’re not petrified & just burnt
Probably a combination of both actually, where fire killed the trees & then they petrified after?
a wildfire in Forest? interesting... but how?
wait did they burn the trees near the Broken Bridge to make space for the Temple?
Cave of Prophecy murals suggest orange light in Forest caused forest fires
We know there was at least one refinery in Forest & also lots of mining and lumber operations, wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of factory fire spread out of control
I briefly considered the mural Alasdair is talking about above as a cause but I think those murals mean something else & this would fit better with Sky’s ecological themes imo
however regular forest fires are natural and good for forest ecosystems, clearing old growth trees and foliage to allow younger plants to grow in the nutrient-rich ash. some trees have even adapted to the wildfire cycle by only releasing seed pods in the present of fire-level heat.
orange light could represent that and the constant rain in Forest to suppress fires as well as orange light being moved to Wasteland where it scorched the land could represent a disruption of natural ecosystems due to human* intervention
Regular forest fires are natural and good for forest ecosystems, but when they’re stifled for a long time, when one comes again they burn wildly out of control. Reasons fires might be put out before they naturally burn away include not wanting to hurt the people living there or not wanting to damage the valuable lumber present. Both of these might be true for Forest. Also, iirc the fire-adapted trees live mostly in pine barrens, a specific type of environment Forest doesn’t really resemble.
In fact, if Wasteland was a prairie, fire would be just as important to it.
My stance on the prophecy colored light murals is this; if you wanted to show a light was related to and controlled fire, what would you draw?
so you think the colored light murals are metaphorical rather than literal?
The King/Resh is in the game in some form, but the developers have said that their presence is a lot different than what we may expect. Their canonicity has been debated again and again, with fierce supporters and opponents.
What if the boat in arc was carrying all the elements safely, and when it was struck down it released them all into the world where it started the fire, brought the rain, created the winds, etc.?
Enchantment before Prophecy?
Without actually knowing any chronological confirmation, hypothetically, yes 👀
Arc spirits are vastly different from others. It would surprise me if they were struck down because of the ideas they had to bring to the world.
the Ark murals depict the Ark crashing due to a storm, not a Zeus-style tactical snipe
But the arc was carrying every orb.
So no matter how it's destruction is viewed, it could have been a catalyst in the orbs being thrown into the realms.
Who knows, that's what it looks like in the mural but maybe the crew mentioned Resh's most recent divorce and got sniped by a far away turret
They didn't know where the strike came from so they assumed it was just a storm
darkstone lightning turrets
Pretty much, yeah! I think it shows especially clearly in the blue light mural for example, where they draw the light next to the ocean, than a river, then rain. Basically all the types of water you can think of. I think it worked pretty well to tell people what the colored lights did, cause if you showed anyone one of these murals and asked them to match the light and the power it held, they could probably do it
The mural does show the boats getting hit with lightening(esq. It might not even be lightening)
So it could be a targeted attack like the attack in GW.
yes but I doubt they were carrying the only colored lights. some colored lights can be found in multiple places, even though some are collectible in one. for instance, red light can be found in two places – crabfields and the back Scarecrow Farmer's derelict farm. green light orbs land in bird's nest shrine, but the turtle in Sanctuary Islands also produces green light. blue light is found in the Valley ice rink, but the eel in Treasure Reef also produces blue light.
Lightning does in fact hit things, especially large and flying things, without being targeted towards them by someone
Yes and it would be easy for orbs of magic, that move on their own already, if it crashes, to explode and disappear to different locations.
The lights from those creatures could also have been developed over the years of the orbs affecting the earth in the way they do since they're elemental entities.
It is a simple idea based on not having any clue of chronological order of events.
or that shows that colored lights are naturally produced and the Ark was carrying some, not all
How would this work? Are you saying there was no rain or wind before the ark crash?
No. I'm not.
I'm saying that they affected the realms in a much more severe manner like global warming. It's a gradual shift where things change.
(Apologies, this sounded much more curt than I intended
)
For everyone’s reference, the mural with the storm we’re discussing ^^
(I unfortunately have to return to work
I promise I'm not trying to disprove anyone's lore ideas! The concert timeline with the spirits just got me thinking about the possibility of the other realms in the timeline)
Oh, that statement makes a lot more sense than what I thought you were saying
I could see it as a relatively minor disaster (aka not the cause of the disaster that killed everyone for instance) that made everything worse in the spots they landed in, but I’d wonder also what disasters the others besides orange light caused
Lol you bring a very Valid point. I will spend more time with the theory or I'll scrap it. Thank you for rolling with the idea to consider more
My guess is they are the strands depicted on the Eden Resh mural! Side effects of rampant diamond tech wreaking havoc in the atmosphere and causing the storm to begin.
Oooh that’s interesting
Just noticed the blue light falling down during the seed literally threw ancestors into the air when hitting the ground
Literally artillery from valley
I thought it was darkness-
everyone has different ideas for what it is because it isn't confirmed
looks like cyan light
Thinking it's cyan light, I hear wind when I get close
Day 1 of waiting tgc indroduce some lore to this game
I just completed the game for second time, this time with the Little Prince quest finished. I was not expecting an extended ending, that was awesome! This game is everything I wanted from a live service Journey, hahahaha.
I think the blue lights are stars raining from the heavens and that war in GW is when the night went dark.
Wait what?? Huh
Isn’t cyan light from isle? Or can it be from anywhere
The Prophecy Caves show Cyan Light being transferred from Isle to Valley
it was transferred? I thought the murals just showed valley receiving an instance of cyan light
Yeah, transferred isn’t the best word to use here
you can still find colored light in the places depicted on the Prophecy murals, like orange light in Forest even though Rain received blue light
I was about to mention green light in bird's nest but realizing that it didn't really move, did it
Powered up? Empowered? Awesome’d?
Lorewise the seed was the most interesting song for me
If we know that the lights came from the trials in isle, where did the last two come from?
Because prophecy has 4 lights while enchantment has 6
Alchemy
they got lore'd into existence
we killed the other two prophets

From this: they are the powers of the Prophets
first time talking in here yall probably already know this but im just figuring out the "lore" by myself so i havent watched any youtube or read anything in here.
So the aurora concert in the wastelands where everyone is fighting, they seem to be fighting the winged spirit things and in the song before they seemed to be catching them so is it that the retaliated? unsure. Also with the underwater quest that my thalassophobia hated with that giiIIIIIIIIANTTTT dark mega fish thing. The creatures were alive and kept under the water. but im guessing it wasnt always underwater cuz they fly so they had to get there somehow. also in the first scene in warriors of light ur coming from the water so are we being free in that scene? im still working stuff out lol
"winged spirit things" Do You Mean Mantas
yeah that's a mood honestly a common theory is that the ancestors captured mantas for their light to power darkstone (the stuff in like. the forest gates that you need your candle to open)
I was drifting through the concert afk-style today, and at the very end of “Warrior of Love” it looked like a whale was lurching up from the clouds to the right
Yep!!! That was a whale!
So those tombstones in the lobbies of each realm right
I like to think that Skykids made the tombstones themselves for the spirit they found
Hey did anyone notice that the cave mural narration in the Isle of dawn has changed between now and August?
I can transcribe it later but it's really drastic of a change
yall can transcribe that stuff? yall on a diff level
I just take screenshots and copy the text
still beyond me 🤷♂️
Wait huh 👁
story intro as of august 24, 2022 - as seen for new account
The spirits of this realm have long awaited your arrival and your light. With the stars united, our light was infinite and together, we lived in harmony. As spirits, we soon became many, creating our home here in the clouds. But darkness came and the stars fell, and with their light we faded away. A long time has passed. Now we call to you. Go forth, child. Return our spirits to the stars.
story intro as of december 18, 2022 - as seen on my main account made in april 2022
All are given breath by starlight. The first of us lived in joy that we would one day return to the stars. Together, we built a Kingdom in the clouds. We connected the seven realms with the power of starlight. But then the Sky went dark, and our Kingdom shattered. Many of us are still trapped in those realms. Please, Child... Bring your light to our fallen spirits.
here’s my & Tac’s transcription!

[when you enter the cave]
At last, you return to this world. Remember, Child —
your light is a gift.
All are given breath by starlight.
The first of us lived in joy that we would one day return to the stars.
Together, we built a Kingdom in the clouds.
We connected the seven realms with the power of starlight.
But then the sky went dark, and our Kingdom shattered.
Many of us are still trapped in these realms.
Please, Child… Bring your light to our fallen spirits.
^ for reference and comparison, has the missing fragments and bolded stuff
my missing fragment is for the intro circa august 2022, not december 2022
for some reason I thought it was still august, my bad, I haven’t registered december 2022 as a real time yet
i also saved screenshots of the tutorial text on my alt account, and part of it is interesting as well:
Spirits once lit the skies and connected our realms in temples, our elders would usher them skyward.
i'm curious if any more of the intro/tutorial text has changed. i might make a third/throwaway alt to check
I have a transcript of the august intro too, do you want me to grab it? I think the missing fragment is “…but darkness came and the stars fell”
no, i think that addition suffices. thank you!
it has! there’s some moth exclusive text, it explains WL, constellation gates and some assorted other things. If you want I can grab that
ooo please!!
Hnghhhh struggling because for some reason whenever I try to post this part the server’s censor blocks it, hold on let me try to figure out what’s wrong
oh man
gonna try breaking it into chunks and seeing if that helps
godsspeed salem
It really is a drastic change dang
[When approaching and gathering the first WL]
Seek Lost Memories to gather Winged Light.
Go, Child. The Kingdom of Sky awaits your Light.
Begin by answering the temple’s call.
(it looks like it's been improved to properly name gameplay elements (winged light, memories). that's something i've been critical of)
i really like the change personally, it makes the intro wording much more understandable and accessible. before the change I didn’t even tackle the intro because the overly poetic language made it hard to dissect for concrete details, I can hardly imagine the struggle a moth trying to understand the world might face with it
also the overt use of the word kingdom... it's conjuring the images of the cave of prophecy mural, the last light mural in the vault elder's cutscene, the mural in the entrance of the second part of eden, the jagged crown-like rock formation atop eden you can see before entering orbit, and the king resh from concept art...
they could've called the united seven realms anything but to specifically use the word kingdom...
there has to be a King somewhere, right?
king resh fancam 🤣
no i'm pretty sure king resh was the first sky kid (see ushering stargazer memory) and is the same kid you hug in the void before orbit
why resh was made king is curious, how things got as far as the kingdom's demise even moreso
i'm hoping this updated verbiage sets the stage for more plot development in seasons to come
I believe he was made king just by the prophecy, mural of kid falling from the sky actually happens? Must be the work of Megan
megan?
Oh wait you're new right?
*megabird
i know megabird, i didn't know it had a nickname
not new, i started playing in april
oh wait I just read your older message 💀💀
i could've sworn there was some intro somewhere with a line that said "if only they had listened". maybe on the website?
I'm pretty sure that line was in the intro at some point!!!
from a reddit post 3 years ago
I started playing last December so I'm pretty certain I remember it being there, but idk if it was ever changed along the way
i wonder why that was retconned
Honestly now that I reread it, it sounds a bit confusing
Wasn't the darkness the reason they died off? So how would they fall and make a new home on the land its happening on?
the intro was changed 3 or 4 times iirc
I think some of the lines in this is are out of order
I'm pretty sure those are in order surprisingly
yeah i found another source to back that up
https://www.claphamgroup.com/journal/2020/05/08/into-the-light
To be honest I like the new intro now that I know ab it, it feels alot less confusing
Another stupid little thing but I 100% believe ancestors had faces behind those masks
How else could grandma know her cooking was delicious?*
this is whats been pinned in this channel for the intro, currently, im not sure if its up to date
that’s the 2019 intro yeah
why is there no trees in the other realms exceptHF
There is trees, in the Days of Bloom event. But yeah, every other realm seems too barren to support a large number of trees.
The number one thing trees need is water, and lots of it. Forest is the only realm that really has it. Isle is dry and barren, so no trees. Prairie is too hilly and has no sources of freshwater. Valley is too cold to have any trees, and Wasteland has too much pollution.
A idea in mind is also that the Isle became too dry in order to support the greenery as seen in the Nintendo Trailer
Idk but an idea
Prairie does have some scattered freshwater but it’s in places that are too small for many trees anyways, sanctuary islands and the island the temples on for example
What about the saplings?
good point! there were also trees in ancient isle, and tiny dead trees on the island the ark is crashed on!
The Lightseekers have green thumbs
I dont know any saplings besides the Days of Bloom ones in the Realm’s first Social areas ah
What about the trees in floor 3 of vault?
Are they even technically trees?
Hmmm well there are the Forest Trees, and the Vault trees, I guess in the technically Game Asset they’re the same BUT
Vault trees have a sort of Spirital look and feel whereas the Forest trees are more solid, bigger and pierce through the clouds
How do the forest trees survive without leaves anyway?
Well its Sky so supposedly they run with the essences of Light through them
They might also not be alive anymore save for the saplings
There might be leaves somewhere in or past the clouds if we discount oobs
For the Lore
💥✨
Well they were saying if oobs didn't count, but still some are visible even without going oob
I can't seem to remember, but I think there is one more area that has trees
I like to think the clouds are the tree leaves in a way, fantasy physics and all with the flying whales !
ceremonial area in prairie (8-player puzzle) has trees
When discussing topics like this I don't think oobs are good enough evidence as tgc obviously hasn't rendered leaves where the average player is not intended to be able to see.
TGC hasn’t rendered leaves in Forest at all
There’s trees but there’s no leaves, I think the water became too toxic for it
I think it's an artificial side effect of Forest's insustrialiaztion
guys I got a new theory
So we know this is a bug, but could the figure (who moves their arms and head periodically) be the king staring at the wreckage of his own throne room? Like this is right next to the Diamond. This being is alive, and is apparently somewhere we aren’t supposed to see. I am so surprised and excited at the idea of this being the actual king
Huh, where?
-does a big think-
Someone mentioned that GW is on the ground beneath the clouds and that for example Prairie is above the clouds, which is where they probably could live... i think i also saw in some concept arts that the Prairie hills are actually the tops of mountains and the rest of those mountains are hidden by clouds, but correct me if I'm wrong
Wasn’t the last part valley 🤔
guys can I share with you a theory?
If the English is bad don't care, I used a translator, I'm Italian.
A doubt occurred to me as I was thinking about what happened before the events in Sky, so I went to review the opening cutscene.
Before the events of Sky the spirits, the elders and the king lived together in a place even higher than the clouds, perhaps space, more precisely what we see after dying in Eden where the castle and the whole city around it are, and then settled on the clouds when something caused the stars to fall (the elders, who took all the spirits with them).
After this part there is a line of text where the narrator of the cutscene says "If only they listened...", but who should they have listened to? My guess is that he's referring to the king, who as we know his corrupted version should have been the final boss of Sky, who was possessed somehow causing the stars to fall, and then committed another criminal act after the beginning of the reign on the clouds.
@/Atlas🌟#4087 sent these and
snow in the Vault ???
FYI Snowman prop only manifests as a puddle when not placed on snow (see the last picture).
Maybe the Vault is cold because of its proximity to Eden ?
I've noticed that it's just generally cold in a lot of libraries I've visited so that may be part of it
Yeah but cold to the point of having snow tho ? No wonder the scholar robes are so cozy-looking
Cozy robes
it's like those blankets with the arm holes
It's possible the snow is only there because that level represents the Valley (the other levels don't have snow except maybe the last one) but it's still interesting.
does the first floor represent isle and have sand?
I don't have the snowman prop to test that, but my guess is that it's sand.
The first floor does have sand

(Never realized this, with vault representing the different levels

That explains the bones on the next level since it would be GW

This is from @/kion_Anzu#1021
YOOOO WHERE IS THATTT
I don't know exactly, but I'm guessing somewhere in acent because the skid is glowing
We have been Krills all along #screenshots-and-videos
#screenshots-and-videos message
does anyone know a Google docs related to the overall lore of sky cotl that's updated? it would be very great to read through something like that
Oof, is the snowman apart of the map or a placeable prop
It's a prop
if not I really want to make one myself and share it here

aw man i thought it was apart of the map lmao
It exists, but it’s a bit different: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
have you guys ever wonder if there are actually ancestor kids
I'm not talking about skykids, but kids who actually grew up
ooh very explenative, thank you
Season of Assembly already has that
They're more of a teenagers though
Hide and Seek Pioneer?
Confident sightseer’s kid ^^
Running Wayfarer memory
ushering stargazer, maybe
I'm talking about skykid sized
switch trailer?
Oh right, they show these like kids
You are all so cool!
Skybot, this chats been dead for an hour
I've heard a rumour that mods don't know what sneep snorp is because they're always here
Anyone wanna hear what I think who would be what if the Elders were in a band?
as a very wise person once said
i take that as a no then
OH!! OKAY
I think Tsadi
would be a guitarist/lead singer
Teth
as the base guitar/backup singer
Lamed
as the keyboardist/pianist
Sah
and Mehk
as the tag team for the drums
Ayin
as the songwriter
Daleth
as the manager
Resh
![]()
as the corrupt main sponser
and Alef
as their biggest fan
What do you think the cultural significance of capes were in the Spirit's Kingdom?
XDDDDDDDDDDD (i am talking about what that sky theorist said, not sky bot)
I’ve been rolling this around in my head for a while, but more specifically the shattering quest texts where it tells you to find a shard of darkness in the kingdom of Sky. Which is really interesting, why would it still be a kingdom? Logically a king would have to still be around right?
But it gets frustratingly weirder than that. Before the recent intro update, the help menu called each realm a kingdom (although it was later changed to complete the ‘constellation for each realm).’ Here’s what that looked like. If it was just a case of the wrong word being used, it wouldn’t have taken this long to fix. So, the existence of this in the old help menu implies that for some unknown reason, places with one leader (like an elder over their realm) are considered a ‘kingdom’ even if you wouldn’t typically call the elder of them a king
On one hand, that detail is super interesting. On the other, it’s also really frustrating because it makes it harder for us to figure out if things called kingdoms in Sky actually have kings or not.
Maybe the word king in Sky isn’t really connected to monarchy at all and it just means one person who rules a realm (or group of realms.) Maybe it’s just the closest equivalent word humans would use; we don’t really have elders, so the word king is close enough. Who knows. It’s a headache all around
would it be like some kind of like "ruler" instead of king
Probably. Unfortunately, humans tend to just use the word ruler as a gender neutral version of king, meaning that even with that tiny semantics change you’d still have to explain the differences between rulers humans have and how rulers work in Sky.
A band manager is a largely useless person who steals money from the artist. Quite often the manager also "manages" to take the rights of the artist's songs from them, thus ensuring that he will make money off the artist for the foreseeable future while the artist starves. Most managers have little to no training in anything relating to any sort of business, and many of them have criminal records. Their primary purpose is to sponge off an artist as much as possible. In essence, "band manager" is often just a euphemism for Con man. It is a generally accepted truism in the music business that if someone offers to be your manager and claims to have "connections in the music business," you should run, quickly, in the other direction.

way to darken my skies
It’s a copypasta don’t worry
please clarify that next time

oh no, the chat was krilled!

This is a super cute idea! Love the duel drummers

(I just realized your user said PING ON, not PING OK. I'm so sorry if I pinged you)
its XD how alef would be their fan (tho in the game he might have ended with their lifes :v)
Don't count on it..
silence

no that's a statue like the ones in the entrance hall after you leave the void
cprs the chat
It evidently failed
i made my own japanese spider crab variant for shushing skybot
#news message let's gooooo

I love them so much, extremely reltable caption
plot twist: Skybot takes over the world! Muahahaha!
plot twist of the plot twist: i call the krills and they krill sky bot
heeheehee
it's interesting to me that all the Aurora cards have been in second person
wdym by cards
scroll up a little
ohhh
is there any other
for Running Wayfayer and Mindful Miner, not yet for Seed of Hope
also we were debating if mindful miner has a nose when their card dropped. you CANNOT tell me warrior of love doesnt have a nose
they have eyebrows too!
The captions are what they hear in their therapy sessions
good for them
Every time I drop by to check on this chat I feel like I'm digging up a wacky, grainy, sepia photoshoot from the 1800s or something and I love it
XD
honestly havent been here in awhile
feels like that, anyway
i dont see they have nose
Same here, school's been bogging me down with project work which I thoroughly enjoy, but it barely leaves me room for leisure. I can barely fit Sky into my schedule, let alone lore chat
nvm can someone sned me the ones of the faraway runawayer and the mindful miner?
#news message wayfayer
#news message miner
I feel like it would be like a "Coming of Age", with new skykids (Moths for US and Sparrows for Asians) get their first cape and take on their flight for the first time
I'm imagining the twin who isn't drumming either playing the cymbals, xylophone or tympani every so often in the song
I'd also imagine prarie playing brass or woodwind.
What I can gather from this:
The spirits used the elements to hide themselves from the light, but they eventually embraced it.
I think it’s a metaphor. Mindful Miner was, well, a darkstone miner; at the very least they would have been involved in destroying light creature’s habitat as part of their job and at most… well. The hiding themselves from the light bit is about burrowing into themselves and shutting off their empathy for the light creatures they knew they were hurting, enough to chase them off from the crystal deposits. But, as you can see from their quest, that changed.
Their elements don’t have anything to do with it; from what I can tell all the character cards so far are describing their emotional journey during the quests.
I disagree with your last sentence, the elements do have at least some presence in Wayfarer and Miner’s quests.
How is blue light involved in Wayfarer’s quest & how is green light involved in Miner’s? Especially, how are they involved in helping them hide from the light?
looking at the concept art, was it originally planned for the children to have some sort of connection to the modern world?
Yeah, but we don’t know how long that connection idea lasted; it probably isn’t a thing in the current version
yeah probably not but it’s nice to think about
ooh and also a more deliberate space theme it seems
So is it official that Aurora is a goddess in SKY? If so then can someone give me a link to that information...
It’s not official, no
Lorechat, Warrior of Love card got out of the war 🎉
putting another dollar in the jar
I’m rethinking this. The Aurora spirits used to have no light at all, but they found the elemental lights and used it.
Remember we still aren't sure if all lights are truly elemental like the prophecy murals make it seem. The canonicity of Aurora is debatable but seems like those specific colored lights aren't born from elements but from memories, and their color represents those memories
also kinda dubious to canonize a real person into a fictional world. Aurora herself may not be true in-universe, but the events that transpired this season likely are
I very much agree with that, but I was referring to aurora as in the season not the person, more specifically talking about certain specific elements such as the aforementioned colored lights from the 4 spirits
I really need to improve my english skills
Don't count on it..
Was the prince abandoned by their original parents, or did they never have parents at all? Spooky!
Genuine question: What is Light Weaving? Is it related in any way to colored light? Or is it a completely different thing?
light weaving sounds like a headcanon, like the lightblur phenomena
The King was abandoned by their parents because of darkness... 😔💔
That sounds made up
whered you hear about that
Probs from here since some of us use that term
I've just been roasted by the damn bot, I'm never gonna recover from this one
Don't count on it...
I hear you but..do you think it's true?!
Don't count on it...
The war on robots was supposed to be cool 😔
We're on that phase where we bully the robots and make em angry
Skybot may soon evolve into an unimaginable thing if he's angry enough lmao
🧠
I mean, wasn't it said that TGC was working with Aurora for years? It would be more dubious to write that all off as non-canon
Where was it said? Never heard anything like that before
I mean Aurora the human being a canonical figure in Sky
I still think so. The Aurora lights look extremely similar to the lights used in places like Sanctuary.
I've heard from this: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
It's never going to be a 1:1 translation, but I think Aurora as a sort of light demigod/elder like being/chosen one can work within Sky
Do you mean what Ktjn said? Says nothing about Aurora
Ktjn's message in this is from 2020 and doesn't mention Aurora, so might be extrapolating here unless there's another place Aurora's involvement was mentioned by name?
We do know Aurora has worked with Sky since the beginning, however there's no way of knowing how much or little involvement she had with the actual season
Like Alasdair said, Aurora herself being canon in the world of Sky is extremely dubious, I mean just think about it. She herself just doesn't fit in the game's world even if her music does
Even if they were planning this season with Aurora for 2 years, that still doesn't mean her concert avatar is an actual presence in the canon
shards, you keep me crawling on my knees
all I can think of is Aurora being the voice we hear upon entering Isle and while descending from Orbit – however long that took to organize, once they got what they needed from her, TGC doesn't have to involve Aurora anymore.
hold on, there's an interview where she says she was involved in much of the planning of the season.
Yes, she was contracted to produce some songs for the game, that's true! Though I'm not sure if she's been actively involved in Sky's development outside of this season, since Sky's beginnings, as she seems awfully busy with concert tours and albums.
I hope there's a development video or blog released that at least details the process of this season!
At most, I think SkyAurora was just a singer and maybe activist in the ancestors' time, and all the memory magic thingy she can do in the concert is only because she's now a spirit and has the colored lights from other spirits and thus can do weird stuff with memories (which is something seasonal spirits love doing apparently)
so my source didn't provide a link but they said these were translations of an interview from the Chinese Sky website
At the beginning of the creation of the season, Aurora sent us her ideas, and she proposed what kind of stories and rich experiences her songs could evolve in "Sky". Those suggestions were very useful to us, which made it easier for us to understand her creative desires and help us reach a common goal.
and
Aurora was deeply involved in the creative process of the entire season. She provided the music for Aurora season all from her core works, and provided the story, characters, plot and more for the songs of the four season missions. She suggested in-game clothing design and provided her own thoughts on all game design and narrative details. Based on her recordings, we have produced 6 emoticons for this season, and more than 100 voices. These are the contents she wants to express with the audience. In addition, she also specially dubbed and sang for the vocal instruments in the game . She suggested that we add the idea of mannequins to display clothing, and she also witnessed the changes in design details and changes in story details with us.During development, many of Aurora's original suggestions evolved as the seasons progressed, and I think players can compare her annotations for the song 'Runaway' with what they saw in the first season missions, so as to understand the creative process of Aurora. She wrote in her proposal that "a little boy... I feel we have to help him across the ocean, we have to help him get home. But he's lost. Maybe we can let him know and we can take him into our own? Let him have a home here too?"
I imagine Aurora as a sort of actress, playing a role within Sky for a Sky character/being. Just like, for example, a voice actor plays a character but isn't actually that character within the fiction.
Though it's a little bent here, as a physical representation does appear within the game, but that could be due to the fact that it's a more blatant collaboration.
If I was advertised an Aurora collaboration season and didn't see Aurora, I'd be a little confused.
If this is true, this is massive
I highly trust this source, my fault for not asking for a link earlier
https://sky.163.com/news/strategy/20221208/29298_1056779.html
Slides this over, the source is this! I saw it earlier when I was checking for concept art, but I completely forgot to share it lol HJSKJDHJ (I know the last bit abt the story aurora made is the last paragraph, but I don’t remember everything else^^)
This just details that she was involved only in this specific collaboration season, correct?
bless you, Slink.
yes, this specific collab season. there is no mention of any others
Thinking about Aurora development blog reminded me, did Shattering get a concept art blog released yet?
I think they got so busy with the concert that they're actually catching up with some stuff now. See how the character cards are a bit late.
I could be wrong but I’m 90% sure Aurora being involved in the season’s stories was mentioned in a season announcement of some sort aswell
seasons' plural or season's singular?
Ah I meant singular,
Is it just me, or do the statues here look... Sort of different?
I may or may not have been remembering things correctly
Is the dark worm in fire trial also a krill?
No, but it may represent one
Other than the one in treasure reef, theres no other variation of krill?
don't even know for sure if the leviathan even is a variation of krill. they're obviously both dark creatures, but of the same species? borne of the same circumstances? unclear
But dark worm is not a dark creature? Just representing as one?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
The Trials are rather nebulous — some believe they’re on different planes of reality, some think they’re illusions and not real, some think they were constructions of the prophets unsure of what they were seeing.
Would it be too much of an exaggeration to believe that, what we witnessed at Aurora concert was actually the story of the fall of the kingdom of Sky under the eyes of the Megabird?
Type that, Aurora represents in the function the Megabird?
Sorry, my english is kinda bad....

Skybot is getting smarter
Spirit child is confirmed
Perhaps not simply Megabird but rather the light creatures who compose Them, those who managed to asnced
Nutrients in the sediments probably-
Before I dive deeper in the role of AURORA in the lore of sky, I wanna ask what is the "Megabird"?
Ye I think Megabird being everything means they see things through the eyes of others
Have you completed the game?
Already did
Have you seen the full credits and post-credit scene?
Yep already did, and yes, I know that big yellow galaxy is the Megabird, what I do wanna know is what is the Megabird? What is their role in the lore of sky?
Do you remember the ascension after Eden? With all light creatures and spirits flying towards a single light?
its easy to miss, you have to look all the way up to see them in Orbit
Mhm, I do remember that
Well, so you have this giant bird-shaped galaxy, you have a bunch of light creatures and spirits who are fallen stars, and they ascend towards a single place, and galaxies are usually made of stars...
So the megabird is basically the world of sky
Yes, that's a good interpretation!
Just remember that the lore is ambiguous and up to interpretation (and also the game gives little information about important stuff)
I simply had time to watch the concert for no more than 3-4 times, but only now I realised I paid little attention to the darkplant(s) present at the beginning.
What do those mean in lore perspective? What is the general consensus here in Lorechat?
Feel free to ping me your opinions about it
I mean , during the metamorphosis of the Aurora Light (after the tree, after the bird on the stone, after the manta) there are examples of darkness. Most notably the darkplant with spiky bulb growing from the drained bird.
But I think there seems to be similar mutations even with the withering tree or the manta sinking.
You could say even the first appearence of Aurora in the flesh turns into a charcoal version of her, but I didn't have the opportunity to see that sequence with a good quality/FPS
I think the dark plants are showing how Aurora is a light creature and can thus defeat darkness.
Interesting, but after that Aurora Light leaves the bird a darkplant appears. How would you explain that?
Maybe it shows that without Aurora, darkness flourishes?
Those that stray away from the light succumb to darkness?
In that way I think it could (kind of) mean it's her fault for the darkness to appear, in a way.
I think it could be nicer if that sequence shows how darkplants are a natural consequence of the death of a creature. More that consequence (which as a wording seems a penalty) I'd say the natural successor of Life
That's a very good theory, maybe darkness is just the natural byproduct of unnatural death if that makes sense?
it's tsadi tuesday
Thus I wonder if it could be a subtle hint of Darkness & Light as cohexisting force of nature
Dorito day
I want to say it was Salem (?) who has the theory that darkness and/or bones are the products of unnatural death which was an interesting theory
Perhaps, yes
Comes from Tom Zhao concept art !
I think the "Exhale Inhale" intro is... an introduction. It presents the voice as an embodiment of light, without which things simply stop living; see how the tree loses its petals and falls, the bird gets overhelmed by dark plants and the manta stops moving, turns to stone and crashes in the water as soon as that light leaves them. We even briefly see Aurora turning to stone once her bit is over !
_ _
I don't really think it's something moralizing about being cursed with darkness when you turn your back to the light, I saw it more as establishing the voice as something necessary for life to bloom. Kinda correlates with my theory light = movement (even the tree moves) and darkness = absence of movement (most spectacularly, the manta stops flapping its wings and crashes).
Indeed, Vela, you said it wonderfully. This just reminds me about the light plants in forest and their petrified counterparts
We know that manta hunting vessels exist and they're armed with net Cannons
But this makes me wonder
Are there actually battleships armed with a cannon similar to the ones we see in the office location?
And how big can these armed vessels be?
Thinking about my (I might’ve stolen it from you? I know it was heavily inspired by yours) concept where light is life and darkness is the absence of life (ie things like rock). when you inflict darkness on beings of light they die
I think light that dies before ascending turns into darkness, and darkness pollutes living light
Quite literally fossil fuel
Have you been to the Forgotten Ark? It’s a merchant ship, but there may be warships that size
Naval warfare in sky confirmed
I think they could be as big as the Shipwreck (which has laser turrets on them, so maybe it's from a more evolved period of their technology) or as big as the Forgotten Ark (which IMHO had a catapult as defense, but it fell and sinked in the pond around the Enchanted Guide)
Even merchant ships had defense in ancient times
What if there are actually armed ships that are that big and armed with all State of the art weapons at that time and just unleashing hell
So i found this concept art
That's probably how battleships look like in sky.
I belive it shoots lasers at ground soldiers
Our ancestors maybe are way more advanced that we thought
😭😭😭 i love that art
I noticed that the statues on the temple have dark stone still in them, the others on the ground dont, the turrets i mean
it's worth noting that it's concept art and this especially did not make it into the game so don't treat it as canon
Better than designing my own lol
It's kinda funny how in that concept there's no krills
True
I wonder if the idea for those turrets evolved into the design for the krill we have today. They wanted more of a mobile defense style instead of stationary
that's really cool concept art!
there are turret structures in game they just don't do anything
My message 🥹 why.
Oh absolutely! But I mean what if this concept idea sparked the greater talk for designing Krill
There’s also the Shipwreck and Crab Whisperer
The ship at crabfields has a turret atop of it
I think that's a merchant ship tho, it has tons of those bell idk thingy
ofcourse, merchant ships are armed for self defense
Just like irl
so theres this theory about aurora being the ruler of orbit and theres a song of hers called "heathens" which have lyrics like "we fell from sky with grace, and landed in her soft and warm embrace, she gave her love, her gift of life so we could live with her" there may be a similar case if she is a ruler of orbit? and since its her own song and not related to sky it could differ but it still would be really cool considering we saw a giant aurora at the concert
i’m fairly new to the lore of the game so i decided to look at all the murals and i was wondering does anyone know what the colorful lights in the prophecy murals are? also is the golden figure resh or someone else?
The colorful lights represent the elements of water (blue), earth (green), air (cyan), and fire (orange). The golden figure’s identity is debated, but I personally believe it’s Resh.
thank you!
also do we know who the character we hug after dying in eden is? i was thinking it was the golden figure but if that ends up being resh than maybe it’s a personification of megabird??? i know this is all speculation rn but i would love to hear other people’s theories
Season of Shattering introduced the idea of the Void (big diamond from Eden) containing the memories of light creatures
It is possible that the memories of the Chosen One from season of Prophecy are trapped inside the Void of Shattering
Also ig I should mention that names like "Resh" and "Alef" aren't canon anymore, and the characters themselves never actually made it into the game since the story is very different from that of concept art
Instead, we now have other characters with similar but different roles, these being the Elder of Eden (aKa Storm Elder or just Storm for short) and the unnamed child from Prophecy that most of us refer to as Chosen One (or just One for short)
King is still used a bit, but in reality you can call it whatever you want. The character of King/Resh/Eden Elder/Chosen One isn’t known at all.
I don't think they would tell
I have a theory adjacent to this but for the elders fun fact
looks at you. can we hear
Okay I will try to recount the evidence and whatnot to the best of my abilities
- what Leon said about shattering proving light creature & elder ‘imprints’ can exist inside shards
- each elder dimension looks the same in terms of color palette and environment as the shattering memories do. the last three cutscenes are more similar to the environment outside each elder’s temple than the first three & generally less empty, but they’re still suspended in voids.
- you meditate to enter both shattering memories & elder cutscenes
- most elder eyes glow blue (like unactivated darkstone) before they receive your flame and all of them glow yellow (like lit darkstone) after
- as we know from shattering q6 it is entirely possible that their light got sucked into the diamond when that happened
- explains where they’re trapped and why

Did anyone else think that the reason that gw was a wastland was due to a war with the krills?
I felt so bad for the baby and mama krill in Aurora quest 4
Yeah,
I’d like to spark an extremely thoughtful debate:
What do the spirits even do with those candles we give em?
give them to the Light in Orbit
do they really need 200 tho
If Ancestors are as greedy as us, then yes
maybe it keeps them alive? like how some cultures believe if you stop talking about or thinking about ancestors they’ll cease to exist in the afterlife.
idk how to tell you this but theyre all very dead
I envision they don’t use the candles or light for their own thing but to make the cosmetics they then give to skykids.
Candles might be a game mechanic. Like we still ascend spirits (turning them yellow) but we don’t use candles to do it, that’s just something added in to make the game more engaging.
However, giving spirits candles might also be an actual thing in universe, and similar to the way we give elders light when we enter their areas. It doesn’t seem to matter so much in canon, so just pick what idea you like best and go from there
New to lore. Are Skids actually kids? Or do they just look that way? Also are we dead and spirits, or do we help spirits..? I don’t know much about it yet
to clarify about the spirits: they were born from light and the elders guided them to ascension! but after darkness came, the only way they could ascend back to the light is with the light we give them, ascended candles! (source: i set up an alt recently and had to go through the beginning again lol)
I wonder, in AURORA’s Seed of Hope song during the concert, who are the spirits fighting? Are they fighting each other, like humans do in war? Or are they fighting nature?
I just came here to talk about this!!! I'd also like to add on, there seems to be a few spirits with spiky hair or smthing even tho everyone else is bald? could this go deeper than just hair? /hj
I honestly don’t know. Since they’re getting spears thrown at them. And ion think a krill can do that 💀
No but fr I think they're fighting eachother, there's one side that's against using and massacring beings of lights, and the other side that doesn't see the problem/only cares about what the beings of light give to them
Cause we can see spirits murdering eachother in the concert song
Good point! That makes sense
I still wonder what that red beam and blue falling lights are
Creatures getting corrupted maybe. Ion know
I do wonder too, at first I was thinking maybe it's cooled down shards from Eden's diamond
But also that hurricane like thing that spawned them, did they just happen randomly like storms I wonder?
Best pic I could find of these spiky haired guys
I'm looking way into this but they could've just used a blank, bald base-spirit but no
Also it doesn't really look like a hair that's in the game? I definetely could be wrong tho
hi aurora
the war
ok
It all comes down to HE
I am gonna rewatch the concert when I can cause I'm actually interested in this spiky hair thing
For legal reasons I'm not claiming anything, I'm just tired and wanted to share my oh so amazing discovery
Goku
I disagree with your assessment of candles being a game mechanic. They’re important to the theme of Sky, and labeling things as just a game mechanic can get problematic real quickly.
on the other side of that there are some things that are better of not trying to be explained as lore
Yeah, those are non-diegetic, or things that aid the player, not the character.
Non-diagetic things in Sky may include: the UI, most (but not all) soundtracks, glitches and bugs, in-game text, the item shop, stuff like that.
What are we? What are “Skids”? Why are we all alone with no parents??
I’m new to the lore 😅
Also why do we all seem to have masks?
"skids" is short for "skykids," who we the players play as. skykids don't have parents and don't need them to exist – they fall from the sky, born of starlight.
skykids wear masks likely to appeal to the ancestor spirits, most of whom do wear masks. unsure why ancestors wear masks but its thought to be a social norm. we do know masks have cultural significance as Ash, a TGC dev, said animal masks correlatie with profession
any lore starters for newbies?
no

@lost wing This should help a little.
Bro literally ripped a turret laser and use it as a mask 💀
I wanna know more about the battle in wasteland, can someone help?
they use swords, spears to kill each other
oh, and also many manta were involved
There were two sides and krills right?
We think there were two sides because of the different shields, but no idea on whether the krills were with one side. The Seed of Hope memories show that there were medics, and what I assume were manta riders.
I think krills attacked both sides to devour their light.
think about 2 groups of humans fighting in a forest, but there happen to be some very aggressive bears in that forest who attack the humans. that's pretty much what was happening there, yea?
Attacking medics?
W a r. C r i m e
I'm pretty sure the war happened in more than 1 realm
yea but it's just meant to be like a simple explanation
sry i did a dumb thing
Yeah like that, even if one side were fighting for their rights ||to not being sucked dry of their light||, mantas(or krills) in the battlefield are still animals that arent aware of any causes to fight for except for if they're tamed and treated well by a particular spirit person
You can fight for a manta to not be juiced off, doesn't mean a manta wont fight you or help another warrior jab you with a spear
Spiky haired dudes are using a polearm model I've never seen before, Idk if it's a glaive guisarme which is a spear with side tips to hit horse riders or its just a polearm length mace
Could also be just an oar repurposed to be thrown
How to War Crimes 101, starring Krills
Thinking about the war today. How do you all think it worked, who was involved, and who were they fighting?
hi salem
the war
ok
but in all seriousness I think it was definitely a war between ancestors trying to get into the vault for whatever reason (something light related? would also explain the swords being thrown at the mantas)
Personally I think it was people against further use of Dark Stone and the people in pro of using it, that’s why Wasteland’s entrance to the Vault was so spotlighted, cause it’s a hub filled with dark stone as well as possibly the main entrance to Eden
Yeah I think it has to do with dark stone
Anyways that’s all my brain can gather for sky, back to Pokémon
I recall people having the theory something in Valley (the elders or the ancestors) used cyan light to keep the storm clouds and krills from the Wasteland away (see the Seed of Hope part of the concert). It succeeded in a way (perhaps the rain in Forest is fed by clouds that simply floated around the mountain range), but it could have trapped ancestors in the darkness-infested realm.
I think there was light creature defenders (mantas are seen in the conflict) with sun shields fighting soldiers protecting refineries with diamond shields at first, but the threat of ever-growing darkness and krills had survivors seeking refuge. Perhaps they already got the idea as the conflict was looking more and more grim as they are seen crowding the gate to the temple...
Wait what do you mean by hub filled with dark stone💀
Vault is full of darkstone
⬅️ full of darkstone
nitro haver
yeah I wanted the pretty lights on my profile the emotes are a nice bonus
Late to the convo but even since way before the concert I've had the theory that the war on Wasteland occurred because the Vault was seen as a bunker where the people would be protected from darkness, but only scholars and people deemed "important enough" were allowed to enter, and Dusk and their lastest temple acted as a gatekeeper, which is why a civil war happened
unfortunately dusk couldn't gaslight gatekeep girlboss their way out of the diamond exploding
What if that section of the concert took place after the war was ended and Wasteland was ravaged? Even, what if no one could get into Vault because Dusk was gone and they couldn’t get through their temple
Holy crap that's even more depressing
They’re still a girlboss to me
Would also explain why people tried to tunnel into the Vault but it was too little too late, all they found was a decaying tower full of corpses
damn
"I think I'll stay in the desert actually thanks"
Finally breaking into Vault and breathing an exhausted sigh of relief before the stench of rot and dust hits your nose. In hindsight, it should’ve been obvious — the tower was too quiet as you tunneled through, but you didn’t want to believe it
Oh
Yeah
to self: going into the ancestor biology here would be a dumb semantic and overall not very helpful
It’s the most visceral and brutal here to assume they work like humans so naturally that’s what I went for
fair fair we (s.) just like to be a little goblin and argue about small details sometime but I need to recognize that it's Not Always Worth Doing
It wouldn’t be any less terrifying to find a charred with darkness corpse curling itself into a ball
You’re right, my first instinct was just to think about the smell. Maybe in this version, the silence and the settling dust is the first thing you notice
Either way it’s not good 😭 I’d leave immediately
Vault being where the last ancestor died makes sense symbolically wise (being the "old age" realm) but this is absolutely visceral and horrifying. Adopting this in my headcanons.
The cheer horror of going through all this trouble to hopefully find others of your kin only to realize that you're unfortunately indeed one of the last.
YEAH YOU GET IT
The Vault was supposed to be a sanctuary, but it turned into a tomb
screw this noise I'm going back to the wind paths
would be a guitarist/lead singer
as the base guitar/backup singer
as the keyboardist/pianist
as the songwriter
as the corrupt main sponser
as their biggest fan
