Welll, I don't think Office has no lore impact. It's just meta or at least an easter egg, but it has a valuable impact (if only you could read the posters on the kitchen
)
I tried bribing krill with peas once... it didn't work
Underlining a parallel about each realm with a period of aging / lifecicle, Dawn = Birth, Rain = Teenage, Vault= Aging etc.
if it isn't obvious, I have memorized some of the Minecraft end poem because I am normal
Hmm if kill/dark creatures also want to ascend to continue the cycle? Like even when darkness took over them they still have the instinct to ascend like how whales and mantas do. (Maybe that’s why they’re all over eden)
Maybe that’s why krills attack us, because they have so much darkness than usual that they try to attack sky-kids to balance themselves. Maybe they can’t even ascend because they have to much darkness.
Like maybe light creatures have some darkness, not pure light, even skykids aren’t pure light when they loose it, and darkness shards grow on them if they’re really hurt, but their majority made of light.
Anyways what if when creatures ascend their light and darkness splits again, to be reused and recycled, maybe to much darkness prevents more streams to form, thus less creatures being made which would cause unbalance
YWS YES THANK YOU I love to think that wasteland is it’s own habitat like djsbxisjzu maybe it’s not for sky kids but still
AAEHFHWICJEIFJEIFJ YEA YEHA DUW CHENCIEBDJ
well krill/dark dragons do crave light for some reason
My Oc Astrid has a prosthetic arm but I didn’t know how to write it exactly so I decided it’s made out of dark stone and that might break a few rules but it’s ok she’s got it under control 👍 if only I had the patience to make a schematics for it though…
what if dark creatures had a different life cycle entirely
Oo that’s also cool to think about,
we sadly have no insight how it would work though aughhh
Like maybe eden crystal shard events but I’m think more naturally
dark creatures don't seem to migrate like light creatures do. they move, but keep to the same territories.
I like to think that dark creatures are “earth” to light creature’s “sky”. Their life cycle is based on the earth and they’re more connected to it. Like, I sort of believe that krills even come from the depths of the ocean. That’s why they contrast so much with e light creatures
thatskyshop: "from darkness, light is born."
and in an Abyss dev Q&A, the oceans were describes as the realms of darkness.
Also I mean this.. like literally? Like LITERALLY the earth as in the ground
LETS GO MY MINDLESS BRAINROT IDEA WASNT SO MINDLESS
Oo yeah! And we do see a baby krill in anglers memory, not to mention mantas and whales should be in the water but arnet, maybe dark creatures are the sky’s version of deep sea creatures. But maybe with power diamond use and pollution (especilly in wasteland) their home possibly grew hence why they’re on the surface ?
Then where did the "dark dragons are corrupted" come from if they were from the oceans? (It would make sense for abyss, but I am not so sure about the other oceans)
(also how did the krills in GW and Eden even get there, unless they migrated to another territory, but then again, it barely has any oceans)
Makes sence for the sea to be dark creatures domain, light does not travel far in deep water
i have a sky oc that started to understand darkness by diving deeper in the abyss, and the depths were soothing, like floating in space. an oceanic feeling like the light but cold
the krill in Angler's memory was simply smaller – we don't know if it was a "baby," we don't know if krill can naturally reproduce, but we do know that krill are corrupted light creatures, so krill may not be the optimal choice for what a natural dark creature would be like. they're a perturbed version, an aberration of light, of another creature, not something born of pure darkness
Oo I see
YES PLEASE it reminds me of the issue in my hometown SO PERFECTLY like, I was born in this coastal beautiful beach city and before I was born people could swim there normally, but one day a company built a petroleum extracting site nearby or something idk rich people stuff, anyways whatever they built blocked the entrance to the mangues which was where sharks would go to drop their babies at, and since they could no longer do that, they started going to a different mangue, and it so happened that the way there passed through the beach. The result? Nowadays we can’t swim there on risk of shark attack. Kinda fits with Sky’s theme of imbalance leading to tragedy
Also the sharks aren’t the villains in this story
I hate capitalism that disrupts nature
although I'll concede that because they were warped by darkness, krill are still dark creatures. they may not be natural dark creatures (unless all "natural" darkness creatures are always corrupted light creatures but that's another debate) so they take on behavior that may be inherent to darkness
i like the krill cat from mischief, harmless but not really down to be pet
It's a corrupted creature (one of the devs cat) but it made me thing about what dark creature could exist naturally, be a threat if people are too foolish but ultimately be an integral part of their ecosystem and not being ill or a pest just because they're dark
Im reaching Lack of light maybe made them more hostile? krills irl do like Sunday’s for some reason I don’t know, this is from national geographic
crabs, krill and the krill cat all have the darkness flakes on them, could be a sign of corruption or just something dark creatures have
i just got done backreading and i love all of this discussion sm aghhkjhqkfgjdsklgflkj
i'm supposed to be working on a custom rn
We just know that krill are corrupted. The quip doesn’t give info on their physical origin
They remind of of moose, they’re part of the ecosystem and help but you do NOT get close to them unless you have a death wish
Although the Switch Trailer has a creature that looks very similar:
The krill pumpkin and cat notably have the flakes appear when you're in their line of sight, so maybe forcing a dark creature near a light creature makes them agressive because they seek solitude
though... what sparked the idea is not entirely canon, so take it or leave it
similar but, again, up to debate on their origin
note that darkness flakes are only ever present on hostile crabs. passive crabs like the ones found in the outermost Sanctuary islands and skewered on the graveyard bonfire do not have flakes on them
I do think we may get hints about the origin of these creatures in the new Animation Project
ok ok time to make an off-topic post
please don't get mad at me im sry
-during the ascension sequence in eden, your skykid gets 7 wedges, also referred to as 7 stars.
-there are a total of 7 realms in sky.
-visually near the constellation of taurus, there's a small cluster of stars commonly referred to as either "the 7 sisters" or "the 7 stars"
this is just pattern recognition goin crazy btw
Maybe from to much darkness?
wasteland bonfire crabs my beloved, i bet crab whisperer can mimic their pleased noises
i've been toying with the idea that the flakes indicate contagious darkness, the kind that drives its host to spread it to other organisms. darkness wouldn't be inherently contagious, but in some cases it can be. haven't really developed this line of thinking yet though
What do you think darkness and light represent, personality wise? And the burning question in my mind: what arrangement of light and darkness is ideal? Should there be only light, should there be a mix of both light and darkness, or something else entirely?
this could also be tied in with my idea about quasi-parasitic darkness plants - contagious darkness in this case would be the spores they spread which i've talked about before
thinking dark creatures, at least krill and crabs, are aggressive toward light creatures because they seek out light. that title screen hint say krill are hungry, but why are they hungry? perhaps hostile dark creatures are the ones who are still hungry, for they attack and hunt light creatures to satiate that drive.
I have corrupted skykids in my ficverse who, in their hunger, are aggressive, but when they are satiated by a fire or candle cake, they stop hunting and you can talk to them
corrupted, dark creatures may always be hungry, the darkness that composes them taking their light constantly, but they don't have to starve forever
Could the the coliseum in valley of triumph actually have been a home to gladiatorial fights?
I like to think that friendly krills are just like friendly crabs, regular looking krills without the corruption falling off
Weaponize hungry children
post relevant fic excerpt
Yes and I think for races, concerts seen in dreams, ect. If a sport/ event can be played in it it’s probably been played
Yeah, the races and concerts been there for a fact. What I've meant was actual fights. With killing and stuff
Killing I would say no, think for the game that would be too dark, and I don’t think the valley twins would be keen on hosting killing competitions either. If it was just really intense sparring then I can see that
seconding tac, I doubt Sunset would permit killing for sport, but all sorts of sportsy competitions were prob hosted in Valley
Well considering the way ancestors got light for funny batterys(speculation, granted) I can see something like funny fights occurring
there's a tier of difference between killing animals and killing your fellow peers
Without extreme injury and death than yeah, like:
“Can’t wait to beat eachother up in this sparring competition”
“Yo me too good luck”
Then they would get food after and laugh about it, that’s how I see it
just somwhat intente sparring competitions
Eh, who's not an animal, especially back then when
it's not about technicality, it's about perception
Extreme chess, they have to sit in silence (chess is considered a sport)💀
Yeah plus I don’t take ancestors to be like Spartans where killing is glory
Probably like boxing I can see it being like that, but with like sticks and shields , they’re gonna get hurt but they won’t die or anything
valley of triumph wwe
Okay but actually I can definitely see that-
could there be serious injuries from some sports? yea, but deliberately hurting or even killing one another is not encouraged neither today nor yesterday
Yeah even boxing is a mixed bag for many I personally don’t mind it but to a lot of people it’s too violent and the concept isin’t appealing
Oh no John Cena from Village of Dreams don't extinguish The Rock's from Golden Wasteland fire it's just a friendly competition
In valley you're not allowed to use lethal weapons against your fellow man..... folding chairs, however
I think that goes along with any sport that requires you actually hitting somone and not sparring, like it’s mixed for how ppl feel
Ok just like expected it's now a topic for serious discussion 😊
It’s like a wave we get silly and then we ponder
, then repeat
Seeing how fast I can edit something together
lorechat enters silly mode sometimes then will do a 180 into serious discussion that'll prob make you weep
Is it a wwe edit? /hj
Now that I'm awakened once more I'm gonna bring back my point that megabird can be used as a death star but exploding darkness instead
Could you elaborate more on this please? im interested on your take on this
if Megabird could, then They wouldn't be sending down skykids
Oh ho, somebody actually got curious. Also yes, somebody from high ranking theorists as I like to call them brought up the skykids argument but I'm gonna explain it all now
True true, tbh I’d like a megabird season so we get a look on what they’re like😭
"high ranking theorists"?
Basically ha ha look it's the smartest ones
We don’t even know what we’re discussing is true most the time we’re just mostly guessing at this point

Damn guys I can’t believe you all held a theorist tournament and didn’t invite me
Are those emotes directed at me I think that’s accurate😭 we don’t have most ground for a lot of the theories we do imo
Alright so if the megabird is making skykids out of pure light, and as we know there can be infinite skykids made (if we consider infinite player accounts as an actual argument), then the megabird could as well just not make more skykids but use it's seemingly infinite light making capabilities to shoot down a huge laser beam made out of pure light and destroy all the darkness in the world, most likely even in Eden
Don’t worry I literally just come here to spew my headcanons and read fic exerts I have no idea what I’m talking about. I get lucky if someone who actually does understand the lore go “oh yeah”
Velec1's (me) deaths star theory for ya
Oh, that brings back memories of summer
but Megabird doesn’t, so obliterating darkness must not be on the agenda
i was more confused that apparently we have a hierarchy?? what
That is definitely one way to combat darkness, can’t wait for a laser beam to appear on my screen when I’m doing my cr
My previous name is literally "idk the lore I say dumb stuff" so we are on the same page here
rolling it back, I do not like the implication that there is a hierarchy here.
Also off topic but cyraenea was talking earlier about Heathens by Aurora and so I went to listen to it and my god does it fit Sky with scary accuracy to some aspects of the game
Sorry that's how i always did it didn't really mean to offend anyone
Wrong. Shrek 😁
I’d say lore chat is more of everyone around a campfire as we try to make stories (theories) togeather
What I mean was people with more lore understanding who will throw a huge lore book document at you at any fitting time
HELP I LOVE THIS THE TWINS ALSO GOT THAT SHOW HOST VOICE TO ME
just say “the regulars” not anything that implies any of us are smarter or better respected than the other
This line of the song, if it would be implying what i think it would, makes me want to actually bawl my eyes out (not really I have as straight face as I write this but figuratively)
True
I kinda wanna redraw this is it okay if I do?
Tac that would be an honor
Megabird was the main willain all along (or is just not smart at all)
I’m not a regular I showed up the other day because my friend hangs here and I decided to check it out
Hehe thank you I’ll do it when I get home
maybe darkness does not need to be obliterated and Megabird understands that. that does not make Megabird evil or an antagonist
Ueueueueue 😭😭 I’m sorry I’m interrupting the convo I’m just CNDJFJDJDB
Ok it was just a joke about how if there is a Fandom there is always "a character was evil all along" theory, but I guess I have to learn making better jokes
/j is very useful cos there are always blokes who genuinely believe that. Poe’s law is alive and well on the internet
Also I just went to the other app for a mere moment and now I'm blind cuz it was bright as hell
Who's Poe
yea that.
also you don't have to ping+reply to me every time
Alright I've had enough of lorechat for a few more months, time to return to my funny broken sleep
You want me to play you a lullaby or what?
Omg that was perfectly timed, good job Skybot.
Sure why not skybot, also where is the it's not that deep image I kinda miss it 😭😭😭
What if these sparring matches are done for charity or somthing? I feel like that would be a very sky thing to do
I hope I'm not interrupting or anything, just thought I should put this here!-
I finshed the shard event quests and this was the last one. I don't know whether or not this is well known but it seems to build off of the idea of how the Eye of Eden started. The Elders see, to be around it as it explodes, but that's all I can note from initial glances. However, I find it odd that the floating red cubes restore your light whilst the eye itself does not.
Oh that would be cool! Like you can sponsor different athletes for different charities
The cubes I see of just being game mechanics to reach the wl but this is pretty spot on, a lot of ppl think the elders are there to try and stop the diamond exploding but we don’t for sure
Valley of triumph: Where we willfully fight to raise money for charity’s
This game could use cube imagery though
the image of a rainbow athlete with rainbow makeup for pride is making me smile
maybe even the mantas are given safe dye to match
awee yes i can see this to
What you mean I can beat the senses out of someone and help the gays while doing it? (Y’all were talking about manta racing my bad)
Manta bull fight (not the lethal kind) where the manta swoops at a pride flag
HELP but they can get takeout with them after too
YESYES YES
ok but wrestling against someone then taking them out for a drink is definitely not straight
manta dance w rainbow ribbons
Me when I’m done pulverizing someone with a krill and they don’t accept to be my Valentine’s (that’s apparently not how enemies to lovers work)
proud victor & bowing medalist
there's a type where you get a smaller less agressive bull with ribbons on its horns, tail and head, and your goal is to grab them
consider: butch bowing medalist
Or just mechanical bull but it’s a shaking crab
i declare this cannon
i like to think that proud victor is bowing medalist's self-proclaimed rival that admires them but doesnt want them to know
gay
gay
I know what you are
they probably act as rivals for show but they're secretly inlove with each other (real)
i bet bowing medalist went first to skate in the rink and proud vicctor went "psshhht i can do better", proceeds to trip and slide across the ice without being able to get up until the end of that memory
For every baby manta you manage to wrangle up the sponsor pays a certain amount to your cause. You put like ten spirits in the coliseum with maybe 20 baby mantas and watch them realize mantas are slippery escape artists
god i remember when i first relived their memory
Oh yeah I thought they died and the memory was gonna take a dark turn but then it didn’t
My mind went straight to an image of Bowing Medalist just laying there sliding on the ice while just having a face of regret
Ok ok game idea for a pride event: you get one crab for each color of the rainbow and each has a little ink pad on their forehead. Put a bunch of competitors in the ring and count how many colors got them in the ankles at the end
-insert stamp noises like putting a stamp on paper idk-
Theres a cute little screech before the stomp
I would sponsor a crab
Aw ! Reminds me of the time I went to a school trip in Salamanca, we had a little cow chasing us in the arena, it headbutted me in the behind when i wanted to see if it would hit me if I didn't move
I would sponsor all of them if needed if there’s two things I love is gay people and cute little evil creatures
appears I heard someone loves gay people
bestie we're all gay here

skybot HATES the cave of prophecies
Skybot thinks we can't have all three
not a furry but i’ve been obsessed with sonic characters lately which is. pushing me closer i think
its like the triforce, the ultimate power
I'm like two degrees off from the middle called the space of denial
I’m Brazilian
We need a square with one corner Brazilian
hey folks, would you help me push bea to get a fursona
i think they have a fursona
Isn’t Bea a bear?
BEA HAS A FURSONA AND NOBODY TOLD ME ??? tbf he does have mad furry vibes
vela. vela you were there
I’m new here I just assumed everyone was a furry
look
i know another gay bear furry that kins chill sunbather
I’m not a furry but some creatures are gender
I should make a new one, I know some unpleasant people who made me not like snakes as much
in my frog era currently
change of plans, we're getting Alasdair the fursona he deserves
Oi
gay frogs…
Give me mad trico from the last guardian vibes
Omg the chemicals in the OC water...
im like dead on the queer/lgbt+ line with very little leaning towards furry, if i see cute furry designs i love them but that's pretty much it
i dont know what animal id be actually. but im definitely pretty center because im very all three
I strive to design those furries that are just people with hyper realistic animal faces and a little hat
autism be damned, i can be a funny bird wearing flannels
Chill Sunbather is what I strive to be in all situations
id be a cat thats all i know, maybe a fluffycat
i hope chill sunbather returns some day so we get their fursona from ash
they were my first ts................... i was so moth i walked right past them without tapping on them...........
a really cool crocodile maybe
Because… tac backwards is cat.?
bear in hawaiian shirt tho
Hi
Lobter sunbather
FUNFACT THATS THE REASON FOR MY NAME TO HONOR MY CAT HEHE
Does Giratina from Pokémon count as a furry?
sniped whyyyyyy😭 this is so true tho
oh absolutely i just figured i’d try to think of another possibility
Why am I slightly considering a fursona now
What kinda of curse have you guys inflicted upon me/lh
such is the power of lorechat
do it
But
But
I don't even know what it'd be
Had to go dig up my tenor pfp but sunbather manatee
SO TRUE

yall i present my hypothetical fursona.....
they look sleep deprived and im all for that
Grab
@keen shore pspspspspspspspspspspspspspsps
i tend to stay up way later than i should so im glad i nailed that down
You’re joking but I like to imagine spirit fighting tournaments are a thing, or similar utterly ridiculous competitions. No one can die anymore so they get to do things like how far backwards they can backflip off the temple
KITY CAT YESSSSSS CAT GANG RISE UP 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
YAYA
The Clowder if you will
The prophets saw this triangle and took it as a challenge to be all three at once
They’re in the center
I guess I'd be a cat because I exhibit catlike behaviors but I'm too eldritch or whatever for that
I have an eldritch cat fursona you can be whatever you desire
i mimic my cats meows so i think im qualified to have a cat fursona
my fursona is an eurasian jackdaw, i just didnt draw it yet
this guy commits arson
gender
GENDER
may i see them actually
You seem like the type to have a dragon fursona
Maybe
Vela drew them for me :]
THEY LOOK SO COOL OMGGGG
The delightful Arson
who needs lore-discussion when we have fursona-discussion
HJSDHSDGHGSD THE SALAMI SHIRT I FORGOT I GAVE YOU THAT
Ia that an explosion on the shirt? Nvm I’m sorry 😭
no it's a salami
TS hints sometimes include fursona but whoever organises the TS hint site is a coward and never adds them in
i remember stretching guru had a crane fursona
Dragons are cool tbh
Like to slap on bald heads
snap
I made my favorite characters dragons because I thought it would make them even cooler.
Me and my friends have a world building project and my nation is entirely based off dragons but they’re all dead so it’s 50/50 on how much of a furry nation it is
There should be a dragon in Sky that isn’t trying to kill us
fortune dragon
I like the violence of the dragons we do have but I’d take a quiet one
YEAH EXACTLY THE ONLY HINTS THEY DONT INCLUDE ARE FURSONAS 💔
Off the top of my head
stretching guru crane, scarecrow farmer red panda, shrugging alchemist Markhor, air prophet hyena, greeting shaman wildebeest
If I forgot anyone lmk
yo a markhor’s antlers are really cool
ah yes my fursona is a throne (angel flavor not chair flavor)
thrones are sick i love wheels
What’s this?
The bridge mechanism?
The exit from underground cavern, the entrance is on the opposite side
What do you think the king's childhood was like?
please be cancelled already
absolutely devastated i missed the fursona convo anyways CAT GANG 🤝(tigers count as cats)
inexplicably just remembered my purple light skykid
plops here The Valley twins having cat ears
Hell yea
good for them
They will lowkey move their ears to every little thing the other twin says or do
yes 100% mekh would have fluffy ones and sah would have like sphynx ears to me with one folded on their left side
He was born in a wet cardboard box all alone
you are so funny!
I'm so tired.
It's like this all the time
It never gets better. No matter how much I sleep it never gets better.
Please, skybot, just let me rest.
Let me have my peace, just this once.
Don't steal my life away from me like you did my friends
wow (>﹏<)It's a really cool idea
imagine you wake up and see this
me seeing it before going to sleep 🧐
SDFHKSDFHKJS I JUST OPENED LORECHAT WHAT
SAME LOL
also im still a supporter of my theory that skybot was created by vault elder then infiltrated our reality
lady vault elder is so sweet I'm sure she did it for good 😬
they glued all of the light creature bones and then weaved a light skin over them
the result was more powerful than they could have ever anticipated and singlehandedly brought the world of sky to an end
bobbiteth?
Alright so
TS hint headcanon/theory
In the TS hints of this upcoming TS and Stretching Guru, I noticed something.
They eat spicy food
Which tells me one thing :
Spices probably exist (since chilis are usually made for spices too)
Joke theory that Wise Grandparent is afraid of butterflies for a reason that we do not know about
Guys i just looked at the wiki and is it true that there is a squid floating around in the office area??
I have never seen it before that’s why I’m askin

No, not anymore it seems
I think it has been removed
yeah the squid got removed 😔
big F i loved them
Also secret tunnel too was changed (where you can see a gate on it if you swim on lake)
Me, you, and Skybot. The three eternal curses.

The orange just haunts sky at this point
I think I read what Dark was mentioning💀
do you guys do this stuff often
this is just the vibe
thinking about indigos comically large hat
to me your legacy is that one image with the enchantment turban laser
the what
ah
you never saw indigo iirc
vela is indigo the one you drew for skytober prompt…favorite cosmetic??
#completed-sky-fanart-and-creations message this fella?
YEAH seems like they already made it here huh
it's based off the bérigoule ! ingame, it's double-five's hat.
I love this death ray
I can't believe lorechat discussed fursonas and I completely missed the convo 💀
.
Anyways since apparently bearhug hermit is gonna be the ts this week I'd like to remind everyone that hermit and postman are totally 100% gay and objectively the best couple in the game
yak furry and rabbit furry are gay and in love
lovely information thank you
sometimes gender is a very large hat
hELP ME IM STILL BEING BRAINROTTED BY PRAIRIE ELDER USING GEOKINESIS DURING CIVIL WAR
Y'ALL WE'RE GETTING YETI AS A TRAVELING SPIRIT!!!
Haha what?
I wasted all my candles last week trying to complete a base game constellation and I have like 9 right now
WHY COULDNT HERMIT JUST WAIT ANOTHER WEEK 😭😭
i was getting brainrotted by people that have control over earth (dirt, rocks, sand, dust etc) and then i asked "do we have a geomancer in sky"
alasdair said that i should check in with ayin
and now i'm double brainrot
Suffered a bug earlier in Eden, and because of it the fog sorta clear out and was able to see some rocks falling over. Doesn't necessarily have lore but I just think it's cool and sorta show that Eden might be crumbling on itself or something
i mean an explosion from pretty much a scuffed nuclear reactor would do some pretty nasty things to stone structures (Skingdom have stone and possibly ceramic as main building materials, with iron/steel/lead for pipes and windows as well as gold for decorations and Light-related purposes)
oh vela may i dm you
depends, but sure
Astral do you mind if I dm you
go ahead (if it works. if not send me a friend request)
Oh cool
Hello everyone I have been thinking about this messahe a lot as I love spirit lore and connections. Does anyone want to hear my guesses on what each of the spirits in question are, I have everyone down but flight guide
absolutely i would love to flight my beloved
Okay [slams binder on desk] I have reasonings behind all of these. Some more obvious than others. Most are prairie spirits. I’d love to do some Forest connections too I just can’t think of any.
Talented Builder - Slumbering Shipwright. A pretty simple guess, they look similar, talented builder’s info card says they come from a long line of shipwrights, and with Flight’s connection to Prairie it makes sense. If I had to pin down the nature of this connection I’d say sibling or cousin.
Tinkering Chimesmith - another simple one; theirs are Applauding & Waving Bellmaker. Same job with a slight variance, also came from Prairie. These are the ‘guild members’ relationships I’d think
Light Whisperer - Bird Whisperer. I have multiple reasons for this. First and most obvious — they’re both whisperers and for similar creatures, and Bird Whisperer is in Prairie. But it gets sneakier than that. You know Festival Spin Dancer’s traveling spirit hint saying they’d be friends with light whisperer? Them and Bird Whisperer are both located in Prairie’s Bird’s Nest, very close to each other. My guess as to the logic behind this is that, if Light & Bird Whisperer were closely connected, spin dancer being friends with the latter meant they’d know the former as well.
I like to imagine Light & Bird Whisperer are siblings, it feels right to me. Could be best friends though.
AND THEN WE GET TO THE REALLY INTERESTING ONE
which is our friend lively navigator
i am looking 👀
Beta content isn't allowed here...?
This is beta?
it's unreleased but it looks like it was posted on tgc's official social media
tgc ur beta spoilers
Hmm
This popped up on my feed just now, it's pretty public
Then
tgc loves leaking things
not much lore in this image but it's gonna be fun :)
Yee I'm curious how much they made for her season
salem please tell me about navigator i love them they're skrunkly
These make sense. What’s the really interesting one you got?
OH I GOT THESE SAME EXACT HEADCANONS TOO
your mind
I'm also interested
vela and salem are sandwiched real
Navigator gave me the most trouble to figure out. This one’s a lot less obvious than the others, and I accept possibly being wrong here, but it’s also hands down my favorite connection as it’s the most interesting.
I couldn’t think of anything off the top of my head so I looked at their info card hints;
Introducing the Lively Navigator, the final Season of Flight spirit to befriend: ☁️ Keeps others safe by guiding them in the skies 🧭 Has an eye for spotting the safest airways due to history as a sailor 🙌 Keen problem-solver 🏎️ Enjoys participating in races as a hobby
These were harder to pick apart than I’d thought. My brain was still stuck on prairie and forest and none of these made immediate connections. I checked Ash’s message and realized they didn’t specify forest and prairie base game spirits only, so my next thought was Valley — it’s full of manta racers, and there’d probably be some ancestors whose job it was to guide/direct manta riders.
But then I got a better idea, because I struggled to connect navigator to a specific spirit. Hear me out, I don’t think it’s a Valley spirit
i'm hearing you out
Thank you I am inhaling dramatically
I think Navigator has connections with Saluting Captain in Wasteland cos of the character tip “history as a sailor.”
my mind went to the abyss spirits I forgot that person existed
Unfortunately the Abyss crew are not base game
I thought Lively Navigator could be someone with Valley ancestry and one of the last to join the flight crew, maybe Flight guide saw their interest. Maybe they're a former manta racer that lived as a sailor before !
Okay so. I stepped away from the race hint for a bit and focused on the first two hints; and it clicked
We already have a basegame spirit whose themes are heavily connected with guiding others along the right way! They also live in a realm with a heavy focus on boats/sailing, as well as a nearby sea; and we also know the realm they’re from heavily valued light creatures, providing both a motivation for Navigator to sign up and join the wind paths as well as a bunch of mantas that they could race for fun (not as a job, like the Valley spirits do).
Anyway so that’s the reasoning behind my headcanon that Lively Navigator and Pointing Candlemaker are siblings :]
YEAAAAA I LOVE THIS HC
OH I SAW THE REALM COMING BUT NOT THE SPIRIT !!! IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW
candlemaker deserves so many siblings
They seem roughly the same age to me and I just think that sibling dynamic would be really fun.
Normal, kind, and gentle sibling (with barely hidden prophetic powers) and then their lively and energetic sibling who can’t seem to settle in one place and also goes at top speed all the time
autism vs adhd
if I'm both does that mean I have wave-particle duality
Isle has heavy themes of impermanence and wandering as well, I’d bet a lot of its population either was constantly on the move (eg nomadic, like how Vela states), hence why Navigator would know a lot about air currents — they’d be sailing in the sky almost constantly!
— or that a lot of its population would only be in Isle temporarily before moving on. We see this with Running Wayfarer. Candlemaker did not move on; they decided to settle in Isle, but their sibling headed to prairie — maybe even Valley to race for a bit — and then the wind paths!
Their emotes are even pretty similar :]
Everything goes back to Pointing Candlemaker
that’s because they’re the best spirit
REAL
the first blorbo
I love giving them connections with other spirits because it’s always such a fun dynamic and a lot of the time it genuinely makes sense. Like that one fire prophet student that looks like candlemaker? that is candlemaker actually, sorry I don’t make the rules
can sky constellations go in retrograde?
i think there's a type of divination where you stare at fire
candlemaker staring at candlelight
might be why they make candles
i think they would be friends with lamplighter
I like to think that whisperers all have a connection to each other. Maybe not directly in the sense of knowing each other, but more in like, what makes them whisperers
A close, intimate bond with their creatures
they meet up sometimes
pyromancy yeah! I wonder how much mediums Isle has for divining the future, I like to imagine augury is huge as well because of Dawn’s heavy connections with birds
In that case, crab whisperer is the superior whisperer
why pit them against each other 💔 they are all friends
I’m glad you mentioned crab whisperer though cause funnily enough I made them friends with candlemaker too, I have actual lore reasons for this but 30% of it is just because it would be a really funny dynamic
Oh hey I noticed this one prophet student (trying to remember which one, I wanna say water?) who keeps goofing off in every memory they’re in, I could say that’s Navigator if I wanted and nobody could stop me
frantically drawing connections between candlemaker and every other spirit bc they all could have such really interesting & fun dynamics
I mean if they grew up in Isle them being that student makes sense right
I want to say they’re the one that falls in the pool but I’d have to check. Anyway Navigator is from Isle and is pointing candlemakers sibling real
so real so true
SO TRUE most of these are me theorizing about the other spirit and then I realize oh I could link them back to candlemaker! and it makes so much sense and I work backwards from there,
i think them and crab whisperer being friends is too sweet/funny to resist. worlds normalest(?) guy and worlds least normal guy, they’re besties
candlemaker has a vision about crab whisperer and goes out the next day to buy a shovel
crab whisperer the ebstie i love them so much, cant wait for bloom 2023 i hope they crash the game by clipping into the code
The dynamic of silly guy and less silly guy, a tale as old as time
You think candlemaker is completely normal at first but then they keep saying confidently saying stuff about the future that turns out to be true every time so now you’re a little scared
candlemaker painting murals late at night with a slightly wild look in their eyes
Context for those curious: there’s a headcanon that candlemaker is the one speaking in the intro, and also that they were fire prophets student (as there’s one that looks exactly like them). I don’t want to take credit for the concept because I remember someone other than me saying it but I cannot find who it was no matter how hard I try.
Anyways, my current general idea of them is that they fell with prophetic powers and so went to the Cave to learn about them and figure out how to manage them. They were a fire student and have minor orange light powers from this; they mostly just use these to fidget with, tell stories, or light candles. They had premonitions about the apocalypse and us coming after and that’s why they stick around and seem to recognize us, as well as guiding us to ensure all goes safely
i also have these headcanons because i’m very normal
my candlemaker album is up to 254
YEAH I think you stole them like . immediately
Candlemaker having visions about the apocalypse and trying to decide whether they should tell anyone, because its important, but also it seems unavoidable and unstoppable and they don’t want everyone’s last days to be filled with worry and dread.
Their friends quickly realize something is wrong, even when they try to hide it, because they start getting both withdrawn and really affectionate. “Why are you telling me you love me every five minutes” type deal

Manifesting candlemaker showing up in the animation
YESSSS
The way you make friends with candlemaker is thst they just walk up to you one day and become friends with you. This is because they had a vision where you were their close friend in the future so they wanted to say hi and get to know you. It always works because why wouldn’t you be friends with them
candlemaker foreseeing me approaching them to take 200 screenshots
I am so excited for this fic you had no idea
like you ?
i’ve tried like 4 times to start candlemaker fics and this is the only one i like so me too mate
Super late but just gonna mention that I’m trying to think about basegame spirit connections for flight guide as well. Bird whisperer kinda works, but I already used them so I want to find another. I like the idea that they’re from Forest and were exposed to darkstone awfulness at a young age and that’s why they both are passionate about fixing it and made an effort to put the wind paths right there so that other forest spirits could access it
I was worried someone would say this 💔 never able to beat the prophet allegwtions
oh i also have this
didn't spades location appear to you in a dream
Spade, your writing ✨
Let’s talk about something else for a minute
tazcore
Spade I am shaking you who are they saying this to I need to know
:)
If I guess will you tell me
me when i rewrite an in-game scene so i can be sad
OH IS IT TO THE OTHER SPIRITS IN THEIR MEMORY?
the besties
i’ve already done worse (just completely rewrote dusk’s cutscene)
me when
specifically to the adult spirit, based on the kid’s reactions i don’t think they know what entirely is happening
salem do u remember the poem about waking up from a nightmare i wrote. candlemakercore
I want to hold candlemaker the prophecy headcanons have made me so attached to them YES
candlemaker staying awake for longer periods of time after their family leaves because they don’t want to see them in their visions. they don’t want to know if something happens
the world is ending, they would rather hope than know for sure
Imagining them trying to convince all their friends and family to leave and save themselves but only some of them go. They feel guilty for being happy about that because they don’t want to be lonely
I constantly remind my friends I’m superior than them that’s normal and totally healthy (bad timing sorry 💀)
does anybody have an in-depth explanation of the sky children by any chance?
haha. starts crying
What do you want to know about them?
how, and why their abilities work for the most part. also concept art and stuff? i know the easy way is just "they are a child of light" but that wouldnt really answer anything.
tldr: explain how they fly basically (how cape work like that 💀)
We don't really have an answer for that, we know as much as you do here. Seems like it's the kind of thing you could make your own theory on ! Mine is that skykids are like paper lanterns and can fly when they have a flame within, like hot air balloons
My Working Theory on the Composition of a Skykid
–clothing, hair, masks & other cosmetics made of light.
–a humanoid physical shell made of some magic-induced earthen material (i.e. clay, stone, ash, charcoal, meteorite) that has a hole in the chest and eyes.
–this hollow shell is full of light, such as winged light and neutral light.
–their cape, a manifestation of winged light.
–their flame, manifesting as the light in the hole in their chest and held outside their bodies via a red candle.
–their soul, appearing as a blue sparkle.
that is adorable
as for how they fly – winged light grants them their cape, which gives them the power to go airborne and, presumably, their capes are aerodynamic despite the different shapes they can take. there really isn't any further into their mechanics
we only know what the devs tell us unfortunately
what do you do with a drunken sailor
Embalden them
Fun Fact: The "snow" in Valley of Triumph isn't snow. It's just more moss.
Here’s what we most definitively know:
Skykids, Ancestors, and Elders do not have a gender.
Skykids are beings born from light, hence the phrase “Children of the Light”.
They also have an inner light, This is somewhat of a “heart” for the Sky Child. The Sky Child keeps their candle in their chest. When they bring the candle out, their "heart" on their chest disappears.
The cape of a Sky Child is made entirely of light, since it doesn’t display a shadow.
Most cosmetics are also made of light, since they don’t appear in unlit Skykids. Only when you give them your light, the cosmetics appear.
May I ask where you heard this?
I'm seeing some very familiar names after a very long break from here
Someone shoo me away before I get sucked in
welcome back, heycreek
Yes you are one of the familiar names lol. Hello I got dumped so I was really bored and started playing sky again. I am very salty I couldn't play shattered live BUT AURORA I LOVER HER I KNOW SHE DEFINITELY HELPED WITH IT A LOT
hey
hey heycreek
wanna hear a joke?
Suuuuuure why not
Too bad
Wow ok
Also I have had major character development since last time CREEK IS NO LONGER A WIMP TOWARDS THE ANGRY SKY SHRIMP!!!! I FACE EDEN AND WASTELAND WITH NO FEAR. I'd like to think they used to ride the krill but there is not as much evidence towards that because manta riders are so documented in spirits and paintings

happy resh wednesday i guess
How do you get Resh out of Wednesday-
Eh, lorechat shenanigans
happy vault vednesday
ok i think thats better than resh wednesday
bonus points if you say it with a vampire accent
lore chat is like this
Whoa, i didn't know-
I refuse to believe it.
Take a lot of things Warden says with a huge heaping grain of salt
What is with your obsession with moss, you said the same thing about Prairie
Lorechat has changed a lot, but there’s some constants here, including me
Official statement on game lore: the story is up for interpretation and all opinions are valid because the story is what you make it 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Lore chat: enough with this hippie stuff, we know you're hiding the real story somewhere THE CAVE PAINTINGS MEAN SOMETHING
Ha ha!
If TGC doesn't give us the lore bible we'll get the lore the hard way
Im going to hold an area 51 like event for tgc. The secrets are in there
The ultimate raid: Storm and flood TGC for lore and only lore, WE give THEM gifts
Something I saw a while ago, but interesting how they gather light in pots from birds, but when opened, similar pots release butterflies.
Maybe light creatures aren't as separate as we think ? Or at least they're related enough for something coming from a bird to become a butterfly
The birds went "You're not taking me like this! turns into a butterfly"
It’s interesting also cause birds and butterflies don’t seem to have much going on on their forms aside from light, unlike say sky kids, spirits and elders who all seem to have more “solid” parts binding them to a specific form (I think whales and mantas too to a certain extent with their diamond heads)
I’m guessing the birds “decomposed” into butterflies
Wym ? You think birds fall down and become butterflies ?
It's a possibility. I mean, light creatures do combine to form bigger creatures in concept art after all
those being light creatures of the same species – smaller mantas forming into greater mantas, fish into whales. it doesn't make much sense for light creatures of one type to form a creature of a different species
That and iirc that was a theory, we don't know what creatures must do to grow in canon; the Tom Zhao art I am thinking of only shows creatures grow along the way.
Idk, butterflies in Sky kinda seem to be a very simple creature that comes from light we free, like from the pots and dark plants, they always release butterflies so maybe they just spontaneously appear whenever light is freed?
I headcanon that as the rivers of light join together, creatures may start to grow with the amount of light and other creatures. Perhaps those rivers weakening due to ancestors tapping into them too much might be a reason to the dissapearance of those giants the shattering prose at the start of the season alluded to... Maybe there wasn't enough light to sustain them.
Also, is the light they're gathering in the memory even from the birds? It could just be stray light that's just floating in the wind along the birds, yet to become an actual creature
that bears the question of whether stray light can even become a creature or something else has to be encoded in light to manifest as an animate entity
perhaps it's that the birds fly alongside rivers of light, so their presence shows that there's light to gather where they go ?
Hiya! Sorry to interrupt, but I’m afraid I think I’m going to leave this server very soon, and likely for good. I’m saying it in here because this is the channel I feel most secure in - but I don’t feel safe nor comfortable in the server as a whole and these feelings have only worsened recently, so I think this’ll be it for me.
Nonetheless, thank you for so many wonderful memories here! Despite my grudges and negative experiences, I’ve had many great times - they’re just not worth waiting for through stress. I have plenty other lovely Sky communities I take part in too! So I’m not going anywhere from the game, just here.
May we meet again!

(going to leave a little spirit (
) and lots and lots of love last thing. see you someday)
@lyric isle I have had very similar experiences with servers so don't feel guilty for taking care of yourself!!! Do what's best for you and remember these people are internet strangers and mean nothing to your real life and self worth. People act like children and are obnoxious on discord. Focus on your irl relationships and best of luck to you!!!!!
RESH WET NES DAY INDEED
We’ll write the lore bible ourselves if we need to!
get out your inkwells and quills gamers it’s time to write the lore bible ourselves /j
That would be a funny collaborative project
Personally I prefer writing my own version of everything while completely ignoring the canon to the point where it’s barely even recognizable as the original thing anymore and then never share it anywhere
you’re allowed to do that /lh
We should gather up and collectively come up with a bootleg version of Sky called something like Cave: Parents of the Dark
mayhaps
Let's skip the lore part and focus more on the Bible.
I already have headcannons we can use to inform this new religion
If others can have a flying spaghetti monster we can have a space spaghetti bird
Undertale /j
That's actually exactly what I was thinking of when I came up with the name 💀
It would be cool if we just made a book of Sky lore that had myths/legends about the world that weren’t entirely true but seem believable to the Sky Ancestors
I can’t believe the King was actually Asgore Dreemur this whole time
Cannoneer is literally Undyne
IM SAYING LIKE
cos they're divorced ?
does this make dusk toriel
Yk i was just going off the fact they’re both king but you’re right 💀
You meet both at the end of the first level and the only way to pass through is to interact with them, so, yes, Dusk is Toriel
💀 😭
Aw nah
Not as divorced as the Rose
Divorced^2
resh is turbo divorced
o hey that’s my friends art
ohhh that's why it rung a bell
Tell them that their art is super cool!
Hey lore chat. Why is it that the Prophets correspond to specific elements? Do not say "because ATLA" or I'll bonk you. I get the trials being themed around elements but what, do the prophets have to make prophecies for only that specific element?
I don't think we know that
do we know that?
You'll notice that the "wisdom" you get at the end of each trial corresponds to the element as well as the animal mask of the associated prophet !
Water - patience, link to breathing with the tides going in an out. Turtle might be because they can spend time underwater without needing air, again linking to breathing.
Earth - resilience, hazardous terrain makes you need to start a step again and again until you catch the right momentum. Spider could be a reference to "itsy bitsy spider" who falls down the drain but goes back up again.
Air - balance, you gotta switch between flight modes in time to not slip and fall in the void. Bats might be a reference to the emote Air Prophet gives where they hang upside down !
Fire - courage, pretty self-explanatory. Lions are a symbol of bravery in many cultures, some of them considering beating one as a rite of passage.
sleepy so harder to make connections but thinking about them being called trial guides here
I'm aware, but why prophets? Could've just been... I don't know, Season of Trials
So is the designated element of each prophet simply a symbolic thing and they all make regular prophecies?
or is it like, you can only make prophecies about the air now. nothing else. the end
i'm not sure what you're looking for, we're not devs so all you will get here is theories
I mean, they are good questions and I’m sad I’m too tired to answer them fully, but yeah — what Vela said
Considering lore chat loves to make up theories I'm surprised there wasn't any theories on it already, is all
Oh don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of theories
no need to be rude about it man
I'm not being rude, I'm just surprised. People love deep dives into obscure lore and I figured this would be one of them
Matcha, do you mind if I think about this for a bit, and then @ you when I think I have an answer? Brain is being really sluggish today
There are, but sometimes we don’t know and no theory can fill the gap in canon. We can’t get into the reasons why devs chose so and so for the plot, we just follow the plot and the consequences of such.
Sure!
imagine you can only make prophecies about fire and you have to be like "uhm... well... I'm going to light a lamp so I can read before bed"
Sorry about that then, it's just that the fire emote made me think your tone was more mocking than it really was
I use fire for everything, sorry. It's become a habit-
I think it was Tac but someone drew the prophets with their own mentors having elemental powers !
Starts here

Could be that their element affects the type of visions they have in the way that their element may also be based off of their character, so each of them would have visions relevant to the kind of lessons they prefer to teach. It could also be that the prophets have a wide array of visions and need each other's perspectives to make sense of them, as maybe Fire or Earth prophet might not get the message of a vision of someone taking a hammer to a wall, but Air may understand that someone has a load bearing wall they shouldn't have removed. Don't read too much into my example I don't know if they did HGTV prophecies i just woke up from a nap
i know there's water and fire scrying, geomancy is a thing but for air hmm maybe they see things in clouds or does auguries
water scrying: water prophet focuses by breathing slowly
geomancy: earth prophet organises crystals
auguries: air prophet uses their balance to climb up fragile structures to look at birds
fire scrying: fire prophet WALKS INTO A BLAZING FIRE and SPEAKS DIRECTLY TO THE FLAMES
fire prophet 🤝 chuck norris
"the flames say you really need a hug, would you like one after I extinguish myself?"
A prophet isn’t always tied to divination. Another definition is a wise or inspired teacher. A teacher guided by a higher power to impart knowledge.
Aeromancy is closely related to astrology which is why you don’t hear much about it specifically
<--- knows what geomancy is because i looked it up when i found out it's a pokemon move
And yeah Vela kinda of guessed it it’s distinctively through clouds shapes. I could ask my grandma about it next time I see her, but I don’t think we’ll know much since our line of spiritism doesn’t dwell that much on divination (also xerneas and yveltal have mad sky vibes)
you get in to get your fortune read and this wierd dog pulls up, wyd

one branch of my family has a few women doing tarot readings, but I've heard one of my aunts does stuff with magnetism, maybe that's what earth prophet could do ? Though it's less about guessing the future and more about dowsing or something, like these
Oh I know those, but I don’t think I’ve ever interacted with them myself 😭 and yeah I agree I think earth prophet and magnetism make a lot of sense, specially given the idea of losing your sense of direction in the trial (heaven knows what will happen to me if I don’t have someone guiding me in those 💀)
And same my family’s branch deals more with interacting with spirits than the future and whatnot, I’m not very versed in it though, my grandma knows more
personally i might hit them up since i really love tarot symbolism, did you know the major arcanas depict a journey ? Starting with the fool being the new traveller on their way to adventure, and ending with the world
That looks sort of familiar to me, could you perhaps give a brief description about it?
I saw these things mostly on YouTube, they are mostly used for spiritual beings to interact with the human world, mostly used for "yes and no" questions (there is a certain pattern for yes, and a certain pattern for no)
As for how it would link to the Sky world... Hmm
I like to think the prophecies in Sky are given through augury, because of Dawn’s heavy connection with birds! :3 maybe the prophets roles might overlap a bit with messengers, too!
Me 2, I was sort of separated from my hometown as a child but I’m thinking of picking up spiritism again
I always assumed the prophets were sort of a counter-movement to the advancements of the kingdom, I got that impression since the season launched despite not knowing of the lore cause of how reclusive the cave is, idk, maybe Dawn asked their help when they realized the route the kingdom was taking
Another idea to me is that the prophets were reading into a message sent to them rather than relaying a message themselves. If Megabird doesn’t directly interfere with the kingdom, maybe they sent down a message, and the prophets were trying to decipher it and eventually did. The reason I personally think that’d be plausible is the season’s logo being strikingly similar to the symbol that guides us to Eden. It’s something inherently built within us, maybe it’s the sign of light’s guidance
I’m not making a lot of sense cause I’m anemic and about to pass out but I hope This makes sense 💀
Uuh what else, this can probably be debunked I think, but I initially thought the lights they were trying to reach within the caves were gonna be used to craft the prophecy itself, and that the prophecy was maybe guiding people to climb and expand the kingdom go eden (much like the light guides us towards eden, it also guided them for different reasons) and that the king wasn’t the “chosen one” for random reasons, it was because they were the one to reach all of the lights
This is actually a really cool perspective shift 👀
It’d also mean that “if only they had listened” was Megabird being like “man I tried to tell them but they had AirPods on”
I ALWAYS MISS PROPHECY LORE
I have a large theory on this: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
In short, the Prophets have the power of their individual element, but also the general power to see in the future (to make prophecies)
I knew it
(I do need to update that theory)
If there's lore, lore chat will know about it. Thank you
a low bar there is Little Canon
shhh just let it be a compliment
fair fair
I have other theory essays, though I don’t want to combine them all.
A singular Master Theory would be too unwieldy
The idea of a master theory has baffled and fascinated me so much that I almost want to take creating one as a challenge
Here’s an interesting passage regarding something called the “Road of TRIALS”, a part of the Hero’s Journey.
“Once having traversed the threshold, the hero moves in a dream landscape of curiously fluid, ambiguous forms, where he must survive a succession of trials.”
Now that I think of it, most seasons in Sky are connected in a large web
Here, I made a web of all the Sky seasons connected! Shattering I have no true idea on its connections, but unfortunately Gratitude and Abyss are the only 2 seasons that aren't connected.
@fallen kayak do you need help
crypto scammer by the looks of it
why are enchantment and prophecy so thick is it the lights and if so why are Aurora and enchantment not connected similarly
wait you're right, uh let me change that
Here's another one: the thicker the line, the stronger the connection
may i hear the connection between prophecy and perform-wait no thats aurora nvm
6 degrees of separation really works huh.
Let me explain them all:
In Days of Sunlight, the Assembly Scouts camped in the Belonging Area.
The Assembly Scout's masks are related to the Lightseeker masks, and there is a confirmed connection.
The Forgotten Ark references the Lightseekers.
The Prophecy Lights appear in both the seasons of Enchantment and Aurora.
Aurora was shown in a Season of Performance mural.
The Performance Guide and Rhythm Guide are siblings.
The Village Theater exists in the Season of Dreams.
The Sanctuary Guide uses the Cyan Light of Enchantment/Prophecy.
The Wind Paths connects to the seasonal areas of Prince, Sanctuary, Enchantment, Prophecy, and Dreams.
It's astounding to me how many connections there are
idk if you take that in account but leaping performer is seen both at the very end of Twirling Champion's memory as well as the beginning of Bearhug Hermit's memory ! so that could link Gratitude with Lightseekers and Dreams
I'M BACK, WITH MORE WACKY SKY THEORIES.
The snow seen at the "social" area and at the crossroads isn't snow, ITS MOSS.
You did an amazing job, but I think you missed one (1) important connection
You could argue that Performance teased Shattering, with the painted Eden backdrop which iirc (I might be remembering wrong) showed the Eden diamond spitting crystals, and since Shattering is the season directly after Performance... Yeah
Also I guess it has to be mentioned that while Abyss and Shattering lack proper connections with other seasons, they do have extremely strong connections to the base game in ways that most other seasons don't
Aight, bouta say another banger.
The Megabird thingamajig we see at the end of the game is a decaying corpse of a light creature so powerful, when it died it formed the whole universe.
BECAUSE THAT "VOICE" WE HEAR SOUNDS VERY GHOSTLY
I think it's interesting that you should say that in a game with spirits as a central focus
Yeh
The performance backstage also has some seasonal items if you count that as a connection
oh hey that reminds me of the myth of creation from the sumerians where the world is both halves of a giant dragon named Tiamat
i actually really like the idea of the corpse of giants being the cradle of a civilisation
Stagehand’s backpack has some Flight wind chimes
OH GOOD CALL
Hmm I suppose yeah, although the connection isn't too strong
OH i never saw this, where is it?
remembering that one philosopher who said that the universe is the corpse of god who shattered himself into infinite pieces or whatever and like it was kinda a net zero philosophy butit was interesting
The Aztec creation myth has it thst the world is made from the corpse of Cipactli, a part-fish part-crocodile monster that the four gods that represented the four cardinal directions — Huizilopochtli (south), Quetzalcoatl (east), Tezcatlipoca (west), and Xipe Totec (north) — killed cos every time they made something, Cipactli would eat it.
Also Cipactli is kinda still alive so to keep it calm so it doesn’t destroy the world, the Aztecs would feed it sacrifices
the connection seems very tenuous, since the Eden Diamond already spits out rocks/crystals
The Eden backdrop couldve been drawn from the initial Eden calamity that the spirits witnessed
..i just thought of another wacky theory
If the rain in hidden forest is supposed to be dark water, that would imply there is an ENTIRE OCEAN OF DARK WATER SOMEWHERE.
would it
but also. wasteland is right there
thats a lake
How do you know?
There's walls on the other side.
Its a lake
well it's a pretty big lake idk what to tell you
There’s walls on one side, not the other.
Well if it wasn't a lake the dark water would be in Isle
Or in the Abyss area
Or in any general area that has water
..wait, maybe the dark water just precipitates from forest itself
Dark water takes light. Only the dark water in Wasteland and Eden takes light. The water in Isle and Treasure Reef does not take light, therefore it is not dark water.
I'm reminded of places where saltwater and freshwater meet on earth but I can't recall what they're called
ESTUARIES ty baud
Using the official Sky COTL map, the Wasteland and Isle share a gigantic ocean. Although it makes sense that one part of the ocean is corrupted while the other isn't, since that sort of stuff happens in real life.
I'm obligated to say that we don't know that since there's clouds in between the two waters
So, is dark water just the Sky version of oil and pollution?
It could also be that they’re not strictly two types of water, but the dark part of dark water is pollution (think like oil spills) and it’s just the most concentrated around Wasteland. Due to how refineries work this would make the most sense
You’ll notice dark water will sometimes have a rainbow shine on it like spilled petrol
. . .
Here me out on this next one.
Light water
The refineries that turn the water gay…
throws you in the gay water
Why did I call gas petrol, why is the British terminology breaking out
the britification has started
alasdair british arc
you’ve been infected. you need to quarantine. quick, before it’s too late
aaaaaa-
CLOUDS ARE JUST LIGHT WATER
EVERYTHING MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
if saltwater evaporates into gaseous water but isn't salty would that not mean the light/darkness doesn't get evaporated
Actually, considering clouds have light properties, perhaps that makes them susceptible to corruption in a sense as well, which could potentially explain the phenomena of Forest's hazardous rain and even the Storm ?
although clouds do recharge you when you fly into them
i have a friend who can tell if rain came from the ocean by its scent, some of the salt goes with the water
that is a very specific ability to have but also really neat
flies into here I heard clouds and I would like to say that even though it doesn't rain in Wasteland, it is assumed that the clouds we see there are either something similar to smog where it is harmful to skids, or clouds that hold polluted water
I GOT ANOTHER FUNKY LUNKY THEORY
Okay, people have been debating if the Office is canon or not, but with the new world map thingamajig, it gave me an idea.
What if the portal to the Office is canon, but the actual Office itself isn't? That's why when you use the Office's map shrine it doesn't show the main location!
It shows the portal that brought you there.
That can be true as the office itself is 100% NOT CANON but since the portal that takes you there is in a canon area, it holds
imma genius
Me: sees the name and looks at the pfp
Also me: Bunny it is!
I'm curious, does anyone have any good theories or insights for the season of abyss? I never really understood it
what kind of theories
angler is trans
just like explaining the lore of abyss I guess, like how it connects to the rest of sky lore
how it came to be
idk why I'm engaging in this when I don't know anything ever but
There is a theory floating around where the areas that are underwater are part of some kind of containment/diamond factory of some sort hinted by the fact that we are specifically finding the diamonds and not really much of anything else, and given that the murals also hint at containing both Krills and Light Creatures, we can safely assume that this was an important structure at some point
Someone get the funny mural
What we do know is that the Treasure Reef was originally a Power Diamond (the thing used to power doors and stuff) factory, and people converted mantas into Diamonds. Eventually, it got abandoned, though.
There’s also a lot of MATH associated with it as well
Lol, same concept different words
ah yeah, but I wonder things like, was it always flooded, how did it flood, did it have to do with the explosion of eden , theories like that lol but I dont know enough
Oh god NOT THE MATH
- It wasn't always flooded, 2. It probably flooded via natural disaster, given how the rest of Wasteland looks, and 3. We don't know if it has anything directly to do with the explosion of Eden
y=(0.5x+0.5)*z
Big fish is big ooooo
Wowza the big fish stops attacking if we give it things lets do that-
JUST KIDDING BIG DOOR TIME-
thousands of years later
Mmm yes we pirates that like light diamonds :3
OwO whats this? Big ominous underwater door that clearly shouldn't be opened?
IMMA OPEN-
perishes
Well even if abyss doesn't have as huge of lore as the King stuff, its still a super beautiful realm and I'm glad it exists lol
nO
LMAO best explanation
I can explain the whole sky timeline like this and it'll make perfect sense
The entirety of Sky lore can be condensed to 2 basic facts:
-The industrial revolution and it's consequences were a disaster for the Ancestor race
-Only gay people go to heaven
That's pretty much all there is to Sky lore
super kid saves 6 grandparents from being sad and then goes to hell
SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT
This 100% implies Granny being gay but in a "I baked some cookies because I missed you so much even though it has only been 5 minutes"
OKAY BIGGEST CRAZIEST SKY THEORY E-
grandma gives us food because they just nice
Truth!! Granny sees us how I see them, absolutely NOT going to miss the opportunity to see the other and just adoring and loving vibes
"Awww! Look at your small hands! So cute and adorable! Even you big ones have hands that fit into my own!" offers food
"Look, it's Granny! They feed us and the food is delicious! A sweet old soul! We love our adoptive Granny!"

What’s y’all thoughts of what skykids eat? Or if they need to eat? Is it simply wax or is “recharging” their cape equivalent to eating?
Alright
Lorechat question:
Dark cats or Light cats? (I know the krill cat exists, but from my observations, it was an accidental corruption of the creature)
That depends. It's thought that the wisteria balls are wax, and grandma's food seems to be wax-convertible. As for eating, we have no idea if we have mouths, but I have an idea that we eat ||through our eyes|| - literally.
Hello Vela
Wax is a community term jsyk ! In canon they're pieces or fragments of light. Which could be hinting the candles are just to make the currency more easily understandable but it could be that we gift and trade litteral light.
I think grandma feeds us something akin to the "marshmallows" we had during Days of Sunlight, roasted light.
this spirit is called a lightcatcher so i think they were catching light from the birds, not the birds proper
i think the jars can hold both butterflies and light, and maybe enough light compressed in one area can become butterflies
(but now i worry at the implications of the jars growing darkness plants in the prairie cave. is that what corruption does to butterflies?)
Through our what? Explain plsssssss
I'm much more a fan of the thought that we noclip the food through our faces
Light cats every day of the week. I think every living being in Sky is made of light, with corrupted creatures being akin to zombies. Also, whenever people talk about making certain creatures dark, it sometimes feels like the dark category is just for animals they don’t particularly like. 😔
For example, a while back someone here made dark/corrupted wolves because they wanted ‘monsters’; I designed a light wolf purely out of spite in response
Skykids are implied to have mouths cos of how they eat biscuits and marshmallows. Even if we can’t see mouths on their models, they seem to be there anyways.
they also lift horns up to where their mouths would be!
Then there’s the chaotic theory: Skykids use their eyes as mouths
I think skids could use their candle/inner light as a mouth, basically the flame of their inner candle would absorb the light
In all fairness there is some animals that one could hardly see as light creatures, like, mosquitoes or dolphins
interesting that you provide dolphins as an example is it because of their marked capacity for mischief
See, though, that’s the thing — you’re still implying that the light/dark dichotomy is morality based. Animals you like go in the first and animals you don’t like go in the second. I don’t really care for that interpretation; I much prefer that light encompasses all life.
I do think that it is morality based. In general, light represents togetherness and dark represents isolation. We can make more social animals into light creatures and more isolated animals into dark creatures
LIGHT ANTS
oh my god what if we had a special interaction where if you deep hjonk at a colony of light ants they build stairs for you or something
tbh, as someone with pretty bad social anxiety, I don’t appreciate the idea of tying my ability or desire to be social to an inherently worse morality…
I do like Vela’s method of approaching it where they have what you mentioned but darkness isn’t inherently evil and darkness isn’t inherently good, but when that idea is pushed into reflecting the being’s morality I get uncomfortable
oh well I don’t think that in sky dark is “bad” and light is “good”. I think that they’re more two sides of the same coin than opposites or enemies.
Yeah, I like that interpretation. Unfortunately, people slide light and darkness into a morality dichotomy a lot.
I like to think that darkness and light used to be inherently balanced until the diamond explosion. I gave an example before with the sharks in my hometown, methinks that the idea of darkness being “villains” in the game is due to a similar concept for the sharks
I'm biased towards light creatures because I like their color scheme more
me w dark creatures because my favorite pokémon types are dark and ghost (and fairy but we dont talk about that now)
Alright lore chat confess. How many of you have lore explaining why server merging happens?
I don't make explanations for things that are objectively Game Mechanic
same

That’s not morality based though. You’re essentially saying that extroverts are good and introverts are bad when those are different forms of how humans socialize or spend time with other humans
It’s easy to cast things that we dislike or hurt us as inherently bad when really their own existence just happens to come into conflict with our own when they can just vibe or trying to survive. For example, wolves have often been considered evil creatures since they eat livestock, even hunted to near extinction to protect agricultural interests, when really wolves are just animals trying to survive like us — our livestock is as much as a food source as it is to us.
And tbh wolves can be scary to us — they’re huge predators who make scary noises in the night — but they do not exist to scare humans. Theyre amoral. They’re dangerous and can cause harm, but they’re just trying to live and have family dynamics and just exist. If anything, humans are scarier to wolves cos of how humans have hunted them
Dark crabs are undeniably social, they might not like flame or light kids but they'll stop their scuttling about and beeline for a flipped crab to help it up
Even solitary creatures savor companionship every once in a while
When I sit by myself I become Dark Bea
But in all seriousness, it's weird to enforce a very human perspective on creatures when it comes to light and dark. I'm pretty sure if you tried to explain our idea of the dichotomy to, say, a very intelligent bat, I'm sure they'd become confused since the real party starts when it gets dark
not me being evil darkness skull
Morality or not, I still think light represents togetherness in the Sky world. Birds and fish travel together in the game, and Skykids are incredibly social-dependent creatures.
Even the most introverted of Skykids (and humans) still live in a world heavily dependent on others. Your light is actively restored by being close with other light creatures.
Crabs could be considered light/neutral creatures, considering they can ascend. The only truly dark creatures are the Dark Dragons and the Abyss creature.
sure light represents togetherness and connection whereas darkness represents separation and isolation, but that doesn't mean we should equate togetherness with goodness and separation with evil.
I do think the Ancestors’ downfall was relying on one person to save everything, instead of everyone working together. Skykids are the exact opposite.
Heck, Skykids only escape from Eden because they hug another source of light. And the Orbit sequence speaks for itself. The theme of the game is very much “when we’re together, anything can be done.”
Even solo Skykids need to open 4-player doors.
It seems to be a common theory that Sky Kids are crafted out of clay. Can I ask if there's any in-game lore supporting this, or is it just a headcanon?
The only definitive thing we have is the iconic “ding” sound when Skykids crash into something, which seems to only happen in real life when clay/stone collides with an earth-like material
skykid bodies being clay shells is a theory based on in-game evidence, as Baud explained. there are other ideas for what their bodies may be made out of – stone, charcoal/ash, and meteorite. all bonded by magic, obviously
Unfortunately not anything can be done when we are together, looking at the still vicious Eden Diamond
If Brazil wins this game I’m going to write a 4 paragraph long theory on Wasteland (it won’t make any sense)
What will happen if you lose
We won’t
Hypothetically
I’ll write a paragraph on why shattering is a totally a good season
Oh she's gone mad
I heard social dependence smacketh being part of a social species
We won
unlike wasteland in the civil war,
HELP
campeão do mundo!
Unfortunately yeah, but even things as dangerous as Shards can be overcome if Skykids work together
Wait now I have to write those 4 paragraphs. Quick someone give me a prompt
why krill are corrupted mantas(enjoy the ez prompt)
Write about why Mellow Musician is objectively the best spirit in the game (I'm totally not biased)
Has to be about Wasteland 😔
Should sunglasses be in Sky, and why?
Write about why Crab Whisperer is objectively the best spirit
write about why better civil engineering could have prevented wastelands collapse
ok
Firstly, I would like to explain why I believe crabs are great and communicative creatures, despite what many believe them to be. I will start by their screeches. Their screech is, obviously, a language. We, young and naive sky kids, have a hard time comprehending the concept of language as a whole, and often assume their screech is simply a form of annoyance, such as that of a bee buzzing in your ears during half time games because they want to dive into your coca cola bottle where they will get stuck and eventually sting you, as if any of it was your fault. No, no, it is more than that, that screech is how crabs alert each other of their surroundings. They rely on each other's screams in order to find food, and know when agglomeration is necessary. Many in the Sky Kingdom ignored the abilities of these cute creatures, except for one spirit. (1)
Now, do any of you know what "drip" means? Drip is the term we use to describe someone whose get up is simply so amazing they are dripping with style. This brings us to today's subject, a spirit resident of the best realm, Golden Wasteland, and a fellow crab enjoyer, Crab Whisperer. Crab Whisperer, as their name suggests, is the one spirit in the kingdom who understood the magnificence of crab language, and mastered it themselves. As if that was not enough to make them a contender to spirit of the year, they are also doning some of the coldest fits of all time. The hat covers their perfectly styled hair like a crown, showcasing their natural elegance. Their cape, like a beautiful purple flower, falls down on their shoulder like a cascade of grace and dignity. It is obvious that this intelligent spirit understands that in order to communicate with such a fantastic creature, they too, must look fantastic. (2)
As for the area where they reside, it is the boat region of the great Golden Wasteland. That region may look fairly empty, aside from the confused krill, who seems to constantly decide to change their patrol route, and a shiny kid in the most inconvenient of spots, there is also, as the name suggests, a boat wreck. This boat wreck does a fantastical job at story telling, for it contains in its carcass a krill horn, indicating how its demise came to be. Crab Whisperer, being the artistic spirit they are, decided to add spice to that area, by offering you a carry mission that is so meticulously crafted to be annoying, they decided to do it again on Belonging. This shows that in their own ways, Crab Whisperer has come up with ways to entertain those who are bored of wondering why in the world someone would put a winged light in that wall, or stare at the horns of the poor krill. (3)
(we also have the cute shoulder crab)
Finally, to conclude this essay, I will say that Crab Whisperer, after mastering the language of crabs, has now mastered the language of hearts. For they have shown that they are capable of moving your heartstrings in a plethora of different ways. Their looks, gorgeous, their soothing, high pitched nightcore voice, nostalgic, and they connection to Sky's best bois (aka, crabs), simply moving. They are charming in the most charming of ways, and though the mask that Prophet of Water wears is not a goat, I believe that Crab Whisperer is. Thank you for reading, and stan Golden Wasteland.

Are they all crabs
there is act a pokémon that is a yeti crab and I like it a lot (it is incredibly ugly)
i agree with everything you said, but they actually look pretty because they're living out the dream of every wierd little girl: threading through mud looking for crabs and soup ingredients while looking like a princess

is there a joke here that I just don’t get
i actually hate it here
They're great sandwiches
Is the joke cucumber sandwiches at teatime? I've never had a cucumber sandwich but it sounds pretty good.
this chat comes preinstalled with it's own lore
What's up with the cucumber?
they make a good sandwich and vela refuses to acknowledge it
Long time no see, I'm too busy with my homework
Is there any interesting lore I have missed?
Not the lore in the original Sky Kingdom but my ficverse Sky Kingdoms lol
They really do though they’re the right balance between crispy, moist and acid
ive noticed that the water in hidden forest doesnt hurt you, just the rain. which to me implies that it is not what is raining that causes damage, rather the act of raining in itself. any speculation why that could be?
Corrupted water?
but then wouldn't the water on the ground also cause damage? it is fed by the rain after all
i think it could support the idea tha sky kids are made of some earthen material, bc regular water (standing still) doesnt hurt, but rain is like. lots of little bullets (ever stood in the rain when its cold? ouch.) that can cut past the skids main defenses
....altho then that would probably also apply to the geysers. maaaaybe im reading too much into it
I think the speed at which the rains fall really damage the Skykid. Kind of like how sitting in a tub of pebbles isn’t too bad, but having a pebble thrown at you hurts a lot.
We gotta remember that diving/swimming underwater does slowly build up to extinguishing a skid's flame, so maybe it's when skids are completely soaked that water starts leaking into their inner flame or something?
If Skykids are made from clay/earthy materials, maybe being soaked starts making cracks or something, thus allowing more water to reach their candle?
yea, that makes sense
(my idea building off of both the theory that skykids are made of clay/stone/meteorite and that skykids are reincarnated stars are that the shells are made of cooled star guts and their flame is just star guts that’s still really hot)
The King is shaking powdered sugar onto some chocolate beignets, I didn't know they were such a baker
King is shaking the sugar onto YOU
Or he is sifting flour the worst way possible
I read that and wheezed
I’ve heard about the king, but I don’t know if I’ve seen anything about him in the game. What’s his lore?
Cos there isn’t really a king in game.
I have this write-up on them: #lore-discussion-spoilers message but note almost everything about the king is from concept stuff that likely didn’t make it to Live
I’d say the King exists in the game as much as the Megabird. It’s deviated significantly from the original named concepts, but they’re still both important parts of Sky that are given the old names for convenience
I think Chosen One took the place of the king, but Chosen One was basically a child who fulfilled a prophecy and always had the ancestors' best interests in mind, not a domineering villain
sky doesn't really have a bbeg except for server errors
I still think the King is a much more complicated person than that
I just did the quests I missed in my hiatus and
skipping…I can see the joyous whimsy of the skids. I love themb
Anyways holy crap we get a whole lot of information about the industry and lives of the various places in the songs and quests
interested to see your take, could you elaborate?
The King, as Alasdair theorized, is in my mind a failure of the Hero’s Journey. They went to the road of Trials, tried to help the Sky world with their newfound power by creating a massive diamond. However, they failed their Ultimate Boon. As a last-ditch effort, the King thrust themselves into the Eden Diamond, creating a sort-of darkness soup as the Void of Shattering.
I believe the King’s storyline can be inferred as a dark/failed version of the Hero’s Journey, in contrast with the Skykids’ complete refusal of it.
Like a ‘last minute upgrade imminent! Uh-oh! Upgrade Meltdown, host and upgrade non-compatible!’ Type of thing?
Ah never mind I misread it, it’s more the heroic sacrifice failing horribly
Could sky kids be technically like clay lanterns? Because there's light kinda in them and that little diamond spot disappears when you take your candle out
yea, that's literally @rigid mural's lanternfolk headcanon
I love lanternfolj
hi
Elaborating on this, could the King have been mentored by the Prophets?
I love
I actually quite enjoy this idea, as considering how the prophets are shown mentoring others in order to complete the trials it would make sense they'd do the same for the King even if I don't necessarily believe that the prophets themselves made the trials though
Is the king really even a domineering villain? I mean sure, there's the possibility that they're responsible for the Kingdom's collapse (either by being the one to discover/introduce darkstone technology if you believe the concept art, or by causing the calamity in Eden as it's hinted that there's some sort of connector between the two) & there's the fact that they seemed to have centralized whatever the main religion was before his ascension around himself (or at the very least solidified his authority through depicting himself in the architecture across the kingdom, but a lot of that doesn't really feel like evil villain stuff. It's hard to imagine the Kingdom's fall was planned or that the whole religion thing is inherently more domineering than any other theocratic-ish monarchy of the real world.
To me atleast, if we were to assume the figure depicted in the murals at prophecy & Eden is infact the King, that with the information given in-game as of now there is no way to properly assign any particular motive or alignment beyond "they maybe did thing".
Off topic but what if some skids specialize as shard forecasters
You have the shard watchers who predict what types of shards will land where and when and then a subset of shard watchers that actually go in and help deal with it
I love this concept so much I can’t even put it in words
bobbetheh
You have to remember in the original story the King started off as The Prince. He actually looked exactly like a Skykid in that form, but he still had the same mask/headgear with the 3 points. He probably was mentored by the prophets while he was the Prince
I also don't think that the King is supposed to be "evil". He was human. He made mistakes, he became prideful. He thought he was doing what was best for his people I'm sure. He's a tragic figure more than anything, and that's why the last thing we do while traveling through the Eye of Eden is hug him
Here is a piece of concept art showing us on the left, The Prince form at the top right and King in the center. You can see he looks just like us
Another piece of even earlier concept art which still shows our similarities to him
The thing about the king and the prince/One is that we don't even know if they're the same person. For all we know, the chosen one might as well be a completely separate person from the king/Eden elder, and they might've been at odds with each other
For a long time, I didn’t believe that at all, but eventually this chat made me firmly believe that the golden child in the murals at least represented some form of the ruler of Sky.
lol, literal golden child
Recently I’ve been thinking if the “chosen one” wasn’t really some kind of prophetic hero, but just a kid with some good skills that got made into one. I think it’d be interesting if the kingdom’s downfall was partially due to putting the weight of leading the kingdom on the shoulders of someone who wasn’t ready
hello lore chat, I have come with another unserious lore topic - yeti pants, how to keep them clean a 101 by yeti:
- soak in hotsprings
- visit eden to blow dry
- alternatively visit sky's very own tumble dryer - wind paths
Hello I’ve been wearing yeti since Dreams, the answer is: you don’t take it off to shower
thank you for your valuable contribution old one, I shall add this to the sky archives in vault, I'm sure vault elder will be pleased

put it by the bone room

This could help explain why the Yeti’s little home is connected to the wind paths
Yeah, that's basically what I believe too. I bet that the trials and coronation really messed up that kid a lot, to the point where their rule became corrupted.
I believe that more than anyone else, the King needs therapy.
Imagine shoving a child into the entire hero’s journey and expecting them to make it out well
A lot of YA novels do that exact thing, albeit sometimes with teenagers instead of kids, although it depends on how old the protagonist starts the book off as,
but you get what i mean!
I get the value of those books because they help people the protagonist’s age realize they have agency and power, it’s kind of a relief to see it and its consequences thought through realistically
I still think the failed version of the Monomyth is an important part of the King’s identity, given how the Skykids oppose it in every way. I remember even TGC showing something like that
(It’s cause I relate to being forced into perfection and maturity so I write that into a bunch of my characters)
mood
They both are portrayed with the same 3 pronged crown though. I mean in the original storyboards it's very clearly stated that the Prince becomes the King, and based on their portrayals I feel certain they're the same person
the King is as canon as the Megabird to me
The King is literally shown in multiple murals, has his statue over wasteland and his crown shown in the last shattering quest tho
The shattering part is what convinced me they are going forward with his story. I'm positive he will be formally introduced in the animation project
The urge to replay the game and make an in-depth document of every potential lore bit... Like, I'm talking murals, spirit memories, the whole shindig 😅
(Maybe it'll be my holiday project)
Also, I want to make a timeline of events if possible
It’d be funny if they didn’t exist though, like “then who was in those murals??” “Oh man, that’s Jimmy!”
Prophecy guide sitting there like “that’s my elder oc”
I am halfway convinced there is no lore and TGC has bets on how long until we figure it out XD
Lmaooooo prior to shattering I would have told you yeah that's just Jimmy, but shattering showed me they've ruined their resolve to introduce the King
“They’re half werewolf”
Already done, at least for murals https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1FQgj2Ii1A9p1kSly9rehvZU-fPsKtGazuEGvE3Od-Bg/mobilebasic
If they were going to just forget about him and move forward with a new stkrg they wouldn't have included him in shattering
Ooh, thanks! I'll have to take a look at this!
Also maybe Megabird intended Sky kids to go the opposite way the king did, by letting them live their “childhood” to the max
Kevin
I don't really know of any depictions of Megabird in the game, are there any? I always just kind of considered Megabird synonymous with "The Light"
“Kevin, Watch the light dude” *diamond explodes
megabird is the big shape in the stars you see during the credits before falling into home.
Oh ok I did know about that but it's pretty vague lol. Still tho basically ya Megabird is The Light
"KEVIN!!! DON'T GO INTO THE DIAMOND!!! KEVIN!!!"
wouldn't be a day on discord if i didn't see at least one breaking bad meme
They can’t hear us they got AirPods on 😭
I enjoy the idea of the King being buried underneath Eden, bound in chains the size of mountains while his wails surge forth to spread darkness uncountable across the kingdom.
I do not care if this idea is cannon, I will be making it so one way or another
Has there been any instance where the Megabird and the Light aren't synonymous? If I recall correctly, even in the concept art the Megabird is supposed to be just the Light itself rather than some sort of actual deity
Yeah that's what I believe, to me, Megabird is just the shape the Light takes, it's just that ancestors worshipped a giant bird in the stars
Tbh while I'm like 99% sure of it, I think we still gotta wait to see if the PS4 trailer or the animation project at least gives us a mere clue about, well, anything
Tho tbh I got the gut feeling that neither will give us any relevant info, except if the child in the animation teaser and Switch trailer turns out to be a skid which... that'd be a pretty important piece of lore
On the other hand there's a very small part of my brain that tells me that there's a chance of the animation project providing us with information that would completely change our perspective about the lore and debunk most popular theories and headcanons kinda like FNaF 4 did to the FNaF fandom
iirc the PS4 release will be early december, chat my be on fire if the trailer comes out around that period
tho imo the animation project and trailer are one and the same
Wait, what? The animation project and the PS4 trailer are the same?
Oh well... I still hope we get to see anything interesting, even if it's not some huge lore thing (tho I still have my hopes up)
I don’t think so myself, it’s just a rumor. Sky is probably going to be much more popular in the Switch than on the PS4; why would they make an entire project for a relatively unimportant port?
We don't know how big the project is, could be that the trailers for every new port (one for PC is in the works) can be stitched together to be a bigger animation project
Megabird
Big star bord
bobbthith
has there been any discussions on who the luminous sky kid is after you finish eden? the kid you hug?
most people believe it is the king
also had an idea, based off the eden king, apologies if this has already been discussed, what if the eye of eden is actually the king’s jail
i know nothing of the nuances and different lore branches here, sorry for any possible repetition
thats quite possible, in my theory it was very last minute that the king realised his wrongings and created the room in order to revert back to the system of being reborn in the world of sky
There’s been a lot of discussions but due to the dearth of evidence, they don’t lead to solid conclusions
bobbitheth?
The Void of Shattering has some striking resemblance to both Eden and the King, so that’s what I think the King is now.
Who are the Gods at the end of every world? Like the cut scenes
Oh, those are the Elders! They're sort of like the leaders/caretakers of their respective realms.
They have the power to ascend Spirits to the Light, which is why we can access the realm constellations after their cutscenes and start buying things from them.
Ohh wow that’s cool
Yeah, it is.
Where do we get info for the lore?
There isn't a lot of confirmed lore, but I know someone is compiling a document with all the known stuff. Plus a bunch of people have some pretty cool theories on how things work/interpretations of the story.
Oh I see. I hope when the new show comes out the lore gets laid out and interesting
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
Here’s the document with all the known stuff
Tyyy
“It has been said by developers that we have a close relationship to the figure represented in these Winged Lights.” another theory: winged lights are the kid we hug at the end of eden
wait this a actually makes some sense. by hugging that kid we regain all our lost winged lights
Yes but we don’t gain all of them back we have to go back to them and claim them again
Yeah, if I go in with 10 wedges I come out with 6 or 7 on that flying portion after the hug
Hmm maybe because, idk actually
no thats just how it is
I think that the 7 wedges means something
7 wedges for 7 elders, and any wedges after that (if there are any) are the friends we made along the way
7 realms
When you get all the winged lights in every realm save for seasonal areas, you get exactly 7 wedges after completing the Vault !
7 wedges for 7 elders and their 7 dominions
it's a shame that the WL counts are not in multiples of 7
“You like the number seven, right?”
explodes you
KILLS YOU ONLY IM ALLOWED TO DO THAT
But yeah that’s why I chose 7 :3
Rotates you
I’ve already been microwaved
Damn girl you a microwave cause mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm beep beep be
But in all seriousness I think 7 (& 8!) are super important numbers in Sky. 7 for 7 realms, 7 wedges,
8 for 8 elders, 8 sides to darkstone, what else
I read 8! As factorial
6 spirits+ 1 seasonal guide= 7 new characters per season
Oh no I just had the most cursed idea
We usually only get four seasonal spirits per season, right? It’s been 4 for a long as I’ve been here anyways
The King is the one who made the My Immortal Sky equivalent and the reason the Eden Diamond exploded is because the King was reading it out loud to a group of visitors who came to hear the wisdom of the King and it was so cringey that the Diamond exploded to stop the cataclysm that would bring and become the lesser of two evils.
Yea, each season introduces 4-6 spirits excluding the season guide
the amount varies
It was always 6 before prophecy iirc!
I think it’s been a 4 streak ever since flight? That’s when I got here so idk about previous ones
I think prince was also 4
Prince was 6! But it has been 4 (excluding shattering) since
What do you guys think about the shattering eruptions, and what the different spirit creatures we see are? So my theory is this: Eden is where souls went to reincarnate, before the storm broke this cycle. Souls are stuck in the crystal, when the diamond erupts and shards are spread our act of purifying the crystal and reliving the animals spirit memory allows it to ascend, similar to when we relive an ancestors spirit memory
dude, you’re right on the mark
and thats all for todays episode!
If so, then what about the Void of Shattering? Why would they want us to do the memories?
(shattering technically had 4 non-guide vendors, even if they weren't traditional spirits)
There's a theory that claims the One/King is trapped inside the diamond, and the Eden hug scene happens inside of it and the white skid is One/King
So maybe they are the void of shattering, and they want us to know more about the cataclysm
I like the Void=King theory a lot, it really is more confirmed than not.
(Hey that rhymed)
that theory has never been confirmed
I mean, there are more signs pointing towards that theory than against the theory
such as?
The King’s inverted symbol falling into the Eden Diamond, the Eden Diamond and VOS having the exact same structure, and the devs saying that the lore is in the details
I know you don’t personally like that interpretation, but there’s not as much signs pointing to the Void of Shattering being something else
I really like the concept that the void of shattering is basically an amalgamation of all the disjointed light and memories that got sucked inside of it. Hence why it’s sentient and disappeared slowly over the course of the season, because we were releasing that light. I bet if you get close enough (in universe) you can hear screaming
It’s not really one thing, it’s a blender of a thousand fragmented memories and parts all whirled together. Like Megabird but in a much worse and terrifying way
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Wait, is the Void of Shattering just a darkness soup??
yes, that is the classic king symbol from concept art, but that doesn't mean that it is the king. yes, the Eden diamond in frozen memories and the Void of Shattering have a similar structure, that only shows that they are related, not that one is the king. yes, the lore is "in the details," but there are barely any details to start with.
it's not that I dislike the shoehorning of the king, it's the dearth of evidence that the Void of Shattering is the king. the claim is jumping off assumptions and leaves more confusion. we don't know why the king symbol is falling upon the diamond. it's just a symbol.
I share Salem's interpretation – that the Void of Shattering is a manifestation of all the beings of light that have been trapped in the Eden diamond, a consciousness borne like the consciousness of the Light (Megabird). that's how it could show the frozen memories, cos those were their memories all those entities were once a part of.
There was a dearth of evidence that the Chosen One was the King, yet it’s the commonly held interpretation for a reason. There’s so little evidence/details for that being the case, yet people still tried to connect the two.
it's a commonly held interpretation because people hear "king" and immediately kiss their royal feet.
Huh?
It seems like you and me have swapped positions about the King
Before Shattering, I used to deny the King has any real presence in Sky, but now I believe otherwise
it's not that I don't believe the king is in the game – rather, it seems Chosen One has taken that role but gone in a non-antagonistic direction – however I do not believe they are solely responsible for the kingdom's downfall nor as important to the story as many make them out to be.
yet many in the Sky community do talk about the king that way, as if they are a major character who alone destroyed the world with their world. newbies entering the game pick up on this talk and assume that it must be true if everyone is talking about the king this way when really evidence for that is based on likely outdated concept art detailing features that definitely did not make it into the game
If I had to give them a level of importance in my head in the storyline it would maybe be adjacent to how important the elders are? Like, major plot driver, but they all influence each other a lot too so all the elders are equally important in this
I agree with you too Alasdair, phrasing bad rn but you get me and my frustrations!!
Sky's central theme is community and power in numbers, that we are all connected, that there is no singular protagonist. we are all the protagonists. we save the world. there is also a lot of environmental themes and warnings, which usually amounts to "it's on all of us to help the environment/fight climate change." while, yes, we can point to major corporations and governments who are major factors the environmental devastation irl, they are powered by us and our human needs. just as many people can change the world for the better, many people can ruin it. pointing at the king as a scapegoat is a cop out
The Void of Shattering is also non-antagonistic, they’re a season guide after all!
And regarding the second paragraph, that is the fault of the community, and fixing it would be turning the King (who is often seen as an evil character) into a more complex and dynamic force.
@frigid tinsel It would work well for Sky’s story, though, if the reason the Sky world fell is because everyone relied on and looked at the King.
the only "bad guy" in sky is server errors
it's not that the ancestors relied on the king, it's that the ancestors built and constructed a system that exploited light creatures and empowered darkness for their own gain, that the king on top supported their endeavours, and too few tried to stop it before it was too late. you cannot run a kingdom alone and a king works for their people. if the people wanted darkstone technology, then the king has to say yes, and the people went to work making it.
I am of the belief that people knew the Light Creature exploitation was bad and tried to find ways to get energy in a sustainable way without harming Light Creatures in the process. The Eden Diamond was the King's attempt to harness the natural wellspring of Light flowing upwards from Eden and get a clean energy source that didn't involve death and pollution. Unfortunately there was too much energy for the Diamond to handle and it backed up, causing a massive explosion of Light energy that attracted the Darkness to feed, growing stronger until it was completely rooted in Eden.
We don’t know that- but it is a good theory
I still believe the narrator in the “we took the light from the wind” blogpost was the Void of Shattering
no, I'm sure that was the ancestors. the poem in the blogpost utilizes the first-person collective point of view, where the narrator is of many. it's a literary technique. singular people (barring plural folk) would refer to themselves as me/I, not us/we.
I was thinking about this a lot. I can’t tell if you’re referring to past/concept art level assumptions here or current ones, but in general I’m still trying to think through whether I want darkstone to be discovered before they fell in the first place.
I have a very very loose concept of the timeline in my head [that’s probably wrong, because like most tineline theories it rests on really tenuous evidence but for right now it makes the most sense to me] and I was thinking through it. And I realized halfway through that unless I changed something I only had about 20-30 years during the time One fell and the disaster happened. And I just kinda sat there for a bit like oh no
What do you think about the Failed Hero’s Journey idea for the King? With the King just being a child propped up to unbelievable proportions, forced into problems which they could never solve (like the Sky timeline lol), and ultimately failed, disappointing the Ancestors. Given how much the Skykids reject the Hero’s Journey and how much it seems to be prevalent in Sky, the King seems to be a failed version of the Hero’s Journey to me (credit to Alasdair for the theor)
I mean, yeah! I was one of the people (along with Alasdair, I think Vela, and some others? It was a boomerang idea) that helped introduce it!
I remember it cause it was an anxiety inducing conversation, I had vague feelings about that being the case before then but was really shy about sharing them to develop them more
Tbh I think this kind of discussion would be completely avoided if more people stopped referring to the One as King/Prince since, let's be honest for a second, when people talk about the king they're really just talking about the Chosen One but they just don't call them that
YES YOU GET ME. THATS WHY I STARTED USING THE NAME ONE FOR THEM INSTEAD. I AM SO GLAD OTHER PEOPLE STSRTED USING IT TOO IT HELPED ME FEEL LESS SILLY ABOUT IT
Yeaa I try to refer to them as "King/One" so people who don't know yet can hopefully get that "the king" and the Chosen One are the same character(?) (Or rather One is partially based on and taking the role of the king) but Chosen One is what they're most likely called now
In that case, would King/Void of Shattering be just as accurate? Since the King and the Chosen One have as much connections as the King and the Void of Shattering
except the king being the Void of Shattering is still just a theory resting on tenuous evidence
My point is that the King as they exist in the concepts doesn't actually exist anymore, the Chosen One is like, the current version/iteration of the concept of the king
As is the King being the Chosen One.
When people talk about the King, they’re referring to the concept art mostly
however concept art isn't Live game. that's the problem
When I talk about the king I'm usually referring to One unless explicitly talking about concepts. I just wanna make that clear from now on just in case
The solution is to have the Sky community disassociate the King with the concept art villain character and associate the King with the more mysterious, nuanced character now
good luck with that – the Sky community is filled with blokes who lack deep media literacy skills and accept their biases as fact no matter how bigoted. it's hard to fight against the dominant narrative.
Did you know crabs are non-flammable?
I wish more people understood that concept art was concepts, not canon.
Honestly it would be funny if the King was just vibing in the Eden Diamond with a rocking chair and a fireplace, trying to work on a scarf using the instructions Granny sent them and stopping to help out whichever Sky Kid falls into the void fresh out of dying.
I remember when I first started dipping my toes in this channel, the concept art view was still super prevalent. I am really grateful it’s faded away to a much more interesting and human characterization.
Wishing I could make that a thing in the whole fanbase but unfortunately I don’t think I can.
it just gets so tiring dealing with all these one-dimensional popular interpretations of the lore when Sky is telling a much more dynamic story than that.
especially when those one-dimensional tellings are uninteresting and/or based on shallow assumptions from prejudices that hurt people like me.
it gets so tiring after a while
Yeah. It’s like, I totally get that most people don’t analyze the lore to the depths that we do and for characters they can’t exactly meet themselves it makes sense that they’d just see something another person said and take it as fact, but also it can get really exhausting. Looks directly at common Sunset interpretations vs how we see them
looks directly at common rain interpretations also
What's the common Rain interpretation? I've been on this chat so long that the only versions of them I can imagine are the furry menace and the "the rain is the tears of the elder who mourns for the lives lost because of their mistakes"
Even in fanart chats, the Forest Elders aren’t too different from their in-game counterparts to me
I rarely ever see any fanart but if I had to guess, I bet the common interpretation of rain tends to be more feminine than the game version
Ough I’d rather not try to dodge the censor/mods by describing what I’ve seen of them lol
my understanding was that people thought they were mean for how they acted in their cutscene but its almost certainly not that simple
common Rain interpretation as "mean forest mama who's unfair to skids and very feminine" despite Rain being 1) agender 2) not very womanly 3) based on a 60 second cutscene
likewise the common Sunset interpretation is that they're silly Elders who always goof off and/or hate each other and are too busy fight or playing to be responsible leaders and shouldn't be trusted with anything. like geez, cmon
I like to think they're not mean, but rather they just have a bit of social anxiety and also have been waiting a long time to receive a flame but they'd otherwise be a chill person to be around
