Hey, Lore! I need you all’s opinion on something. I’m writing a fanfic on pre-rapture Kingdom and one of the sports is manta-racing. I don’t want to call the racers literal “manta-racers,” so I went for something more professional-sounding. I call them the Mantallians. Good Eye! When I first spotted it during the season I also thought that besides the 3 bases/outposts (glowing differently) there was another thing hinted on the nottome of the map (far below the second outpost : 🌈 )

For many that looks like a stone gazebo like those we see in Forest, specifically the one in Broke area (where the meditation quest at the start of the river is located) but I thought it was too far in the map scale. So I had thoughts it might be a way to point out at the fireplace in Sunny Forest (where the Grandma's Table from Belongings ), and I'm even more convinced about that ever since Days of Summer Lights brought back the Assembly Crew in the Summer Camp next to Granny's, exactly in Sunny Forest.

And it might be , if you consider that devs surely have a lot in store for the future of the game (like for example there stars in the Realms constellations that reacts as buttons despite having no function yet)

Before there was just one cutscene showed when we entered as moths with a mural that is (secretly) present in HomeSpace on the far far island, an OOB I don't even know how to reach. Now the intro explainstion is at least reliveable on the Intro Tunnel in Isle of Dawn, but it's far different

I want to dump my 2 colored light ideas onto lorechat and I want to know your thoughts on it 🫵
Idea 1: Powering Darkstone with Colored Lights.

My idea here is that spirits would use colored lights to fulfil different tasks, let’s say for example – you want to swim in an automated swimming pool or you just want to open a little pond to grow some plants whenever you want – there would be a specific darkstone made to hold the blue light. Whenever it would be activated, water comes out either from the diamond or an opening made for said darkstone. If you want to manifest platforms to more easily get from one place to another – use the darkstone made for the purple light, or if you want to set specific things on fire for daredevil entertainment purposes – use a darkstone made for the orange light!

Idea 2: Souping Colored lights

My idea for this one is simple, based on the lightblur headcanon, why not soup 2 or more colored lights together? Sure, it sounds risky as hell, but it is worth a shot! Like, souping cyan and green light for example – to make islands that float on air! Or perhaps make harmless fire by souping orange light and purple light!

I think they sort of are unaware of all their powers, example, skykids easily levitating while they unlock a new Wedge or levitating like the Chair Scholar does. Sky kids easily learn telekinetic while 2 scholar adept had to combine their skills to raise just one.

I also noticed how there are some spots in Underground Cave where we see door switches without a power crystal but skykids still hold the light where the on switch should be and it magically appears a lighted prism above, where there is no crystal. (It might aswell be just a bug, but I reported it more than once a year ago, if not more) So I'm starting to think skykids are unaware their mind powers is so strong to make some doors anyway even if unaware of them broken

Another example of Sky Kids mimicking but with mistakes, the Performance electric guitar we can use is mirrored compared to all we see, even the icon!

But yeah, on the Forest mechanisms, these remind me of the machines that open doors if you got the right pass. Maybe the diamond flipping was a sign the door is now open and it's the ancestor's cue to proceed ?

Colored lights are a specific type of light in Sky that are part of its magic system and can be used by ancestors, elders, and presumably skykids. You might recognize them from Enchantment.

Each has a specific personality trait associated with it; for orange through blue these are given to us by the Trials’ descriptions, for red and purple they are theorized.

Red - Void - Tradition - controls darkness and its ability to ‘consume/release’ things. Imagine darkness like a Venus flytrap; red light can influence its opening and closing, releasing things it already consumed. This is how it brought back the Ark’s murals; darkness had consumed and destroyed them, and Nodding Muralist used it to bring them back.
Orange - Fire - Courage - controls and brings flame, especially in relation to the flames/inner light of creatures; hence why it summoned light creatures for the ark.
[Yellow is the color of general, non elemental light.]
Green - Earth - Tenacity - controls rocks, plants, & is also related to light creatures, similar to Fire.
Cyan - Air - Balance - Controls air & air currents, makes things float, and presumably can create things like vacuums as well, but we don’t know for sure.
Blue - Water - Patience - controls & purifies water, can bring rain.
__ Purple - Mind - Creativity__ - can manifest tangible constructs out of light, like how it created the tents in the ark.

We got that trait based off a couple of things. The first is that darkness in Sky seems related to stillness/permanance in general; Vela has a theory on this and I can find it for you if possible. The second is its relationship with Dawn (isle elder) who places heavy importance on tradition. The two spirits with a theorized connection to them (beckoning ruler & refusing voyager) show this importance pretty well.

Wish we had stronger evidence for it, but purple and red lights are the most mysterious out of the two so we don’t have much to work with.

Everyone in Sky is confirmed agender. Most people, including the devs, use they/them pronouns to emphasize that. I’ve also seen neopronouns used for them.

Oh, it’s just that most people who use he/him or she/her for these characters usually do based on ascribed gender by appearance (ie. referring to Forest Elder as she/her just cos they have long hair or Isle Elder as he/him just cos they have a beard. It leads to some interesting if not depressing gender fights over androgynous spirits). There’s definitely a way of using traditionally binary pronouns in a genderfunk way (he/him Forest Elder, she/her Isle Elder) and I do it myself sometimes, but I don’t see that as often 😔

You’re right that nonbinary people don’t have to only use they/them pronouns. many of us are just frustrated with the Sky community’s rampant exorsexism and cisnormativity. Don’t let that stop you — headcanons like that defy the binary.

Also all the devs aren’t agender but a few are out as some flavor of nonbinary. Just all the Sky characters from skids to ancestor spirits to Elders have no gender.

I was looking at concept art and noticed Tsadi's concepts had what seemed like stone body armor than metal, and the ancestors obviously have access to metal seen everywhere but like nobody in wasteland wears body armor, only exception is their helmets

So either ancestors had really protective skin except their heads and didn't need armor or they did have armor and it could've been a mix of stone and metal to save resources on metal, just thought that would be cool to think about (and I'm drawing Tsadi in some fullbody armor because i'm trying to think of what said armor would look like ha)

Another example of sky kids naturally being able to bend all colored light ["Deal with it! I'm the Avatar! " ] is the power to make a prop appear.

Props are solid, much like anything if we can walk on, but they sort of are not. For a short while before SoShattering you could have also used a prop like a table in front of you a moment before the krill attack and get shielded. So the krills kind of ate them. That defensive glitch is patched out, you get damage with the prop (which cannot be placed for a longer cooldown, I think) but that in my own vision could mean that we create solid object out of nowhere, pretty much like the Enchantment Lights created the Ark Shops

Furthermore in a way Shared Memory Candles are somewhat created objects too. Cause crabs hate them

I have a headcanon that (because of how fire and light generally works in Sky) their magic was originally used for healing, as their flames healed whoever touched them; but only turned violent when they used them to purify corrupted creatures. My headcanon on krills is that you can attack them as much as you want, but it always fails, even if the places you’re attacking would be vital spots on any other creature (ie. throat, eyes). You see krill with lots of spears sticking out of them because of this. You also see them covered in ropes tied with tons of heavy stones, because trapping and weighing them down was the only way to put them out of commission for a long time. But when those ropes started fraying…

You could also scorch the krill to oblivion and that works, but it takes a lot of energy and often ends up severely harming you as well (if you were Dusk)

also I see Dusk being really close to their comrades, like they joke around to ease nerves before they fight, this is inspired by a doodle from Vela but they'd let the ancestor's have pet crabs for morale when the other higher ups in the ranks don't like it. Also see them on near death situations to protecting ancestors that would've died if they hadn't.

I feel like on the very rare occasions where they just sorta break down because of all the stress their facing of not being able to save everyone, having to kill krill, and their realm falling apart and so on, their comrades would comfort them. Also goes both ways i see dusk comforting ancestors that cant stop crying because they just want this to end. Dusk's warriors are like their family to them

There’s a theory that Slouching Soldier is like a representation of Dusk and fun fact, out of the three soldiers Slouch hallucinates in that memory, at least 2/3 of those [fainting warrior, saluting captain] are known to have died during the war. [Backflip is the 3rd.]
this might imply that not only did Dusk sense whenever someone died, but they also remember each and every soldier that was killed, ever

I like to think of the collaspe of the kingdom as being an ecological disater first and foremost that then spiraled out into total chaos (cutting off travel and trade, famines, etc), with all the pieces to bring about the kingdom's end having already being there, just under a tighter leash. I also like to think of the darkness plants as a being something that thrives in dark, polluted areas with still/slow moving bodies of water (of which it may turn toxic) and spreads using the air to propagate it’s spores and in larger stages, it’s seeds.

So when whatever event in eden happened, the resulting darkness it spread and heightend ferocity of storm created the perfect environment for the darkness plants to spread, Their spores hitching rides on the winds to conquer dusk and grow in numbers impossible to imagine and drain the light of the realm

the headcannon-y part comes in when the the darkness plants start to grow in people

I think they naturally appeared as representations of the elements in the natural world. So the Cyan Light appeared in the clouds, Blue Light appeared in water/ice, and Red Light appeared in shadow, in the same place we find it in Enchantment and the Prophecy murals.

Idea explained shortly and briefly: I have an idea where the light itself caused a separation of the colored lights, distributing themselves across different parts of realms and inherited it's own powers(perhaps this is even the reason as to why rainbows appear in some areas of the realms)

||A darkness infection would start out slowly, with an ancestor becoming short of breath and fatigued. Then they'd start feeling sharp, spiking pains thoughout the places where the plant had spread it's roots to, becoming increasingly worse as time goes on. Soon, the coughing would start, as the sludge that pours from the darkness plant begins to fill their lungs and cause them to slowly asphyxiate. This is normally where you'd notice that something was wrong, as specks of sludge would be thrown out with every other cough, probably staining whatever you coughed on. This is also where the lucky ones would die, with lungs filled with black. for the unfortunate majority things get a whole lot worse||

Wouldn't that be also the cause of corruption? Is that why the dragons exist? Maybe Eden (before it became the eye of Eden) couldn't handle disharmony since the colors were separated?

The cause of corruption is the overuse of the dark diamonds and the invention of a big diamond (aka the Eden Diamond)

Well, since some natures of the lights caused damage to some realms, it isn't the cause of corruption (at least from my understanding)
Like how the orange light in forest, burning down most of the leaves on trees, and the red light being somewhat of a light of darkness, though I am not sure if that contributed to the corruption of GW

The colored lights would be found by ancestors and elders, and used its powers, as to if it caused the destruction of the kingdom, I dont know, but I highly doubt it caused it

||As the illness progresses, an ancestor would start to notice a difficulty in mobility, with it not just causing pain every time they moved, but also it becoming physically harder to. Unbeknownst to them, the plant's roots are slowly burrowing their way out to their skin, with the paths they make being slick with sludge. Unfortunately, with nowhere to go, the sludge stuck in these causeways would begin to crystalize and form solid structures that impede movement. A similar thing is happening in the lungs, and with each cough small crystals of the sludge would be forced up their esophagus and out through the mouth, causing cuts the entire way up. at this point even if they fight off the infection they'd be left with permanent damage.

When the first darkness plant sprouts from their skin, the ancestor will be forced to make a choice whether or not they want to spend the rest of their life sitting or standing. This is also around the time that they must be isolated, as soon the sprouts will begin to produce spores that may infect others around them if they’re not careful. In quick succession the plants will sprout one by one, growing quickly in size as they’re exposed to the open air. Crystalized sludge will begin to coat the ancestor’s skin from the open wounds the plants make. The sprouts will soon grow large and begin to obscure parts the actual body. Paralysis will soon set in, as the number of internal structures grows to such an extent that the ancestor more resembles a sculpture than a person. If the ancestors are like humans, than this would also be around the time their body||

Although isolated rotting would have been present since day 1, with the number of internals structures now webbing innards of the ancestor it’s likely that blood to signigant portions of the body would be cut off. Delirium will also start to set in, as the last remaining portions of light within the ancestor start to be consumed by the plant. This is perhaps a blessing for some, as this will probably be the final time they are without pain, or at the very least dont seem conscious of the pain,

Before they fully loose mobility, an ancestor might pull themselves up a large height, into a large pool of water, or somewhere else they might of in life heavily associated with light, mostly a behavior born out of desperation it is one that is very beneficial to the plant’s continued spread. Once they are fully paralysed it will be a little bit before the plant fully blooms, but once it does it will release seeds and the cycle will begin anew.||

That metallic glitch happens when your device overheats or when interacting in certain situations. For me, it’s only repeatable by jumping off the jellyfish by Star Collector’s boat. During Days of Bloom, sitting under the Bloom tree for a while would trigger it.

5. jump onto the air current that goes through the paths
6. open the Options menu, and as soon as the clouds turn purple from approaching the Starlight Desert area return home [from the menu]
7. you're now in the Aviary

Yes, there is no basis for transphobia in the Bible, but there is no basis for a lot of things people use the Bible to excuse or even things in the Bible Christians ignore. Religion is very personal, even when it is so big, public, and privileged as Christianity is in the West.

However it is true that anyone that hates and supports oppression as much as queerphobic christians are so antithetical to the teachings of Christ, of love and forgiveness and embracing everyone as a child of God regardless of one’s “sins” cos that’s what Jesus died for (even tho there’s a lot of circular and abusive logic in that belief system but that is a story for another time).

Simply put, if your beliefs tell you that it’s okay to hate and oppress people for who they are, especially aspects of themselves they cannot change, but still calls itself loving, then you should reevaluate your beliefs.

Not unsettling — that’s just how their anatomy works.

There is the fact that we don’t see mouths on spirits and skykids cos their models haven’t been rendered to have them. Spirits, likely as a reflection of living ancestors, would have mouths in-universe but whether that is true for skykids is debatable. However skykids do seem to eat and drink (marshmallows, Days of Bloom tea sets) from a nonvisible mouth so they presumably have mouths.

I think Sky operates partially by fantasy logic, in that it will be hard to pinpoint details like anatomy unless it becomes relevant to whatever message the devs want us to understand; that and I think that's one of the things they leave up to interpretation !

Just thinking but what if the elders pocket dimension spaces is based on where they feel most connected/comfort to?

Like Dawn has a small platform with calm water and birds, I feel like if they weren’t stuck they would enjoy the place.

Same for Day, I think their area would be a nice place to sleep, it’s dark and quite.

Rain might’ve loved blacksmithing hence why they’re place is at their anvil.

Twins their coliseum, they probably preformed a lot and I can see a ton of shows and performances happening there pre eden explosion.

Dusk maybe protecting their temple is where they feel most safe, and a sense a duty to protect it from anything that might come their way.

Night I feel would love a small island to themselves, peace and quiet, but with the other elder statues being there too they probably miss the others deeply. (Not to mention the vault ascent dream theory after their cutscene ends)

If I remember, our skykids can meditate right? We do it for the elder’s to get to them. And I think our skykids is really traumatized from wasteland that they sort of go into a meditative state when the enter vault. Because after vaults cutscene we end up in a place that looks nothing like where we meditated, and many took this as thinking the vault we see ingame is more of a lucid dream to our skykid when the actual vault is just completely ruined.

Again I think that’s the theory, my memory is fuzzy on it

Shattering and Aurora present different facets of the lore — Shattering a grand overlook on the consqeuences the ancestors’ darkstone technology manufacturing had on the world and the creatures within while Aurora goes into individual stories that reflect on ancestor society.

Devs said on reddit they had to cut corners in Shattering so they could focus on Aurora, might be why a lot of people think that season had no lore since no spirit was there to tell a story, if you're not on social media to see the poems it can be really confusing.

I think what you're referencing is the idea that Night Elder is attempting to recreate what the destroyed Vault looks like to us, however with their waning or damaged memory, the projected Vault appears in its "dreamlike" state.

alternatively that is what the Vault looks like but due to purple light gone rogue in the Vault, which Night may have ties to, this has altered the appearance, the very reality, of the Vault.

every "lore" season is disappointing for some folks cos they don't grasp Sky's means of visual and interpretative storytelling, expecting a textwall of info detailing exactly what happened, but that is not how TGC operates. also a lot expected Shattering to be the "Eden season" detailing everything that went wrong there, when it really wasn't centered on one place or one person. there is much to critique about TGC's style, but it's the fault of the fans to overhype themselves.

besides, I would say Shattering did provide a lot of loredrops as we as set the foundation for further theories that previously had little to no evidence or groundwork

I would prefer that yet then again even if this is mentioned in feedback I doubt they would changed the structure. 3 seasons a year seems to be the most profitable option because 3 separate passes, and not alot of players tend to buy passes mid to late season bit but that’s just how i see it

of course! my theory is that the megabird created the world of sky and gave her light to it (one of the lyrics of heathens is "she gave her light, her gift of love, so we could live with her), allowing the spirits of the land to live as they pleased. by becoming greedy and abusing her light, they were living "like heathens", but she gave them light to do with as they pleased, even stealing from eden in a sense (since eden is the main point of ascension back to her)

Oh that's interesting cos I don't see the song that way, to me it was more about embracing what you are (big fan of "Blood in the Wine") and, since you're already ostracized (like in "Giving in to the Love", "I never had the world so why change for it"), trying to please people is just a loss of time (hence the very christian imagery with the opposition of an holy entity and "heathens" disregarding their rules).

i love the way aurora uses christian imagery in her songs and turns it on its head! heathens isn't looking at humanity negatively, rather saying "this woman who is so often villainized gave everything so we could be free to be ourselves or anything we want to be". i believe that the megabird was never angry with the spirits; she simply gave them a gift and freedom to do what they want with it. again i have a lil addition to this but i can't share it yet OTL

It’s kinda poetic like, even though they’re divine, they’re not perfect and also have dark parts that translate into dark creatures (this is totally not me being a crab and krill fan and trying to convince they rule)

I HAVE THIS THING WHERE I THINK LIGHT AND DARK AREN'T NECESSARILY IN CONFLICT

dark creatures would be more solitary and territorial (krill, crabs, cat) but when healthy (crabs) they aren't hostile unless pushed, they just want to be left alone like geese are often antagonised but just need personal space

in contrast, light creatures often organise themselves in flocks, pods, schools, herds... eccetera, because they are social creatures; in fact, they're the most likely to be domesticated by ancestors because they can see a fellow creature as part of their flock !

I have the idea that light alone is like a bucket of sand, homogeneous, full of possibilities, one entity made of multiple grains, but you need darkness to separate the sand and dye each portion different colors so that you can do art with it !

I have a theory about what that ceremony place behind 8-puzzle door

quoting from my old comment:

For example now it seems any Ancestor's call is a slightly different (or at learn some sounded slightly altered over the updates to me) or before the arrive of the Lightseeker in Dailies (from this Days of Blooms) I had no theory of why the Teamwork Spirit cutscene seemed different from this pose/emote. Skykids only raise their candles while the ancestors seems to make more along the Butterfly Caretaker emote.

But the crucial thing DoBlooms sparks me a parallel was that any of Lightseekers seems to perform (besides random goofy emotes) a ceremony, to collect light/living light (as maybe they did in some concept arts). This ceremony recalls me of the Spirit which is called Something Something Ceremony and they seems to teach others this kind of ritual (so a little theory of mine and maybe of/from someone else is that could be a little school for new Lightseekers).

Back on track, if sky kids are so goofy toddlers who misunderstand some of Ancestor's actions! When we discussed the above Team-Ceremony I also joked about "If they copy/mimics so badly this emote, imagine hitting the floor 💫 while deepbowing ... at this point an Ancestors could be so thoughtful to soothe the wound 🩹 and the skykid would probably (again) misunderstand that as a free cosmetics ! : 🆓 🤕
