you are so right, valley is full of Mechanisms and Infrastructure and Rain is the one creating them so!!
yeahh i personally see them being the main producer with those types of mechanism's power diamond related or not
like if you are a fan of Mechanisms
*nah this took so long😭 * anyways combining this with the twins having their own horses because yes
Side thought from this picture and how I can now figure the shape of a bird in the megabird nebula/cluster... Our beloved deity Megabird loves dancing:
Why?
Bcs I can't unseen the nebula as posing in a dancing move (and probably that's what one of the Spin Dancer move could depict)
oo yeah
megabird cosplay
wait i see it now oo
Yo tac, this is awesome
hehe thank you, their horse back riding sessions turn into debates on their Tamagotchi's usally
I sort of thought that this was a kind of silly... but on second thought any kind of movement of nebulas and stars in the universe, despite being perceived as standing frozen in an snapshot, are flying the void of space in a cosmic ballet.
does anyone have a good picture of samekh's prosthetic arms in-game actually I have zero visual reference for them
-looks through my old photos-
Dancing as if nobody is watching XD
That's rather poetic
best one i got
that's actually rlly good ty tac 🙏
yw^^
ill be honest i never paid attention to their diff arms and one eye so when i heard here that they were prosthetics and stuffs i just went with it, ive never seen them in game
These are my closeups from my moth days
yeah it's super hard to see in their cutscene, even i didn't know much later😭
I wish they made it a bit more clearer an explicit. Even in Orbit you can hardly picture those prosthetics 🦾 🦿
since both of the twins arms look different i feel like Sah kept breaking their prosthetic arms by doing stupid stuff while Mekh just...didn't do that much stupid stuff and has their original arm
I guess that's a way to see it. My very first thought when I got close to them probably was that each of them crafted their own design... Thought I think that could raise the question "Did each of them build a prosthetic one-handed?"
oo that aswell, for me i see Teth having built them but that's just me
Help I love this sm 😭
LIGHT HONSE
are these actual tamagotchi names btw
Just noticed the triangle of aluminum foil
they are, i looked at teh wiki and picked the cutest ones
yeah i forgot to erase some of the reference images i used
this is great news thank you
hi
oh I know you hi
hi hello
welcome to here
place
yup, this sure is a place
Define place
makes me feel things to realise that isle is the beginning and has strong bird presence & the end is also a bird
it's birds all the way down
birds all the way up
birds all the way everywhere
bird
I unironically believe everything is a bird
The Eden diamond is just a giant cracked egg if you think about it
it’s birdin time
Like if light is life and darkstone gets often filled with light then the giant diamond would've been full of light and therefore-
Wait that was just a joke theory but I'm now realizing this would make the "diamond was created as an attempt to replace megabird" theory have a lot of sense or maybe not idk it's almost midnight and I'm too tired to think
Maybe not to replace it, but maybe to find its power.
Any theories around the number of candles at each Elder's shrine? Isle has one candle, Wasteland has three, etc. Do the numbers mean anything or are they random?
thought to reflect the popularity of the Elders, how frequently they were visited. Sunset has a ton, being in the middle of the city and within a coliseum. there's also the thought that Dawn was exiled thus would receive less offerings
Interesting! I never thought about it that way
my personal headcanon is that the candles at the valley shrine r all put there by skykids! of course these silly goofy little beasts would like the Fun Exciting Elders more than the confusing old responsible adults
Described it like so in my latest writing
I'm hetro for the King
Jellybird and flowerbird and fishbird /j
But it could be a nice theory, after all there is a marine species that transforms into a plant/coral or into anemone, iirc.
This parallel is a good What-If

GUYS GUYS GUYS, So it's cannon that sky kids came to the planet of sky as shooting stars and to help the planet to be free or sum right???? WHAT IFFF they were sent by beings that are like humans that flee from the planet because it's getting corrupted with something and they want it to be clean again for them to inhabit it again
Like Eden was just some tall mountain but then a strange phenomenon happened, like maybe some Alien put it there and the king just got corrupted by it
Like the crystal hypnotized or legit corrupted the king and thus encourage the people to kill animals into stuff because it's kinda cannon that the light can kill the dark (we see this as we cleanse the fallen shards and dark plants)
So that the darkness of the crystal will grow to do its only thing
And between the killing animals for technology the people invented some sort of spacecraft just incase something crazy happens that can wipe out the whole planet, and when that DID happen they fled to outerspace to save themselves
And the ones that were left behind is what we call our beloved SPIRITS because they have died from the wipe out
And because of this event, the people in the spacecraft were devastated. Thus trying to invent something that can help destroy the darkness without dying so easily, and that's when they made the skykids. To cleanse the darkness for them to live in it and do the same over and over again
And if you ask why they just don't do it themselves, they are just regular beings with just normal bodies just like humans, nothing special. And they rely on the animals for some protection
And since they are just regular beings, they can die easily, while skykids are practically indestructible to everything except the rain, Polluted water, and everything that is related to the darkness
it looks like Sumerian cuneiform
And after they make a skykid, they sent them down to the planet with what the thing that shoots a beam in the video, and that beam was a newly made skykid, ready to go to the planet to clean what was left behind
For some reason they look lively even though they are dead
That would be hilarious
Also since after being created, they are immediately sent to the planet if they are perfect in development, skykids never really know anything, let alone emotions. So they learn them through reliving spirits
Also at the end, if you manage to get a wing buff from a spirit, they would gift you that wingbuff for a thank you gift for doing everything and still have the determination to do it again
This game legit has allot of potential lore, like imagine having a whole season dedicated to the whole planet, and the king going down (imagine the angst)
Like after finishing a quest, a cutscene (like where you enter isle of dawn) would happen and actually tells a story with subtitles
Sorry for rambling, this thing instantly went into my mind when I saw that post and immediately wanted to tell someone abt it
**Disclaimer: I know that Office is not meant to be canon, but just want to share my thoughts.
**
If The Cackling Crab (DoM Seasonal Area) was an actual area you can access in Sky (outside of the... Office toilet
), what realm would it be in? Well, hear me out.
Looking around, the area, I noticed from the Sky, to the things around the environment (spears, gates, tombs, etc.) seem to remind me of GW and Eden at the same time, so.. if the Cackling Crab were to be canon, in my opinion, it would be somewhere between GW and Eden (since GW is at the bottom of the mountain of Eden), sort of like Vault! Thinking that it was once a refugee area for those wounded during the apocalypse, (specifically the ones that were in the Eden mountain itself, too wounded to go any further)but seeing the dark creatures around the area, it was found by them and infested the area
Feel free to add more to this
Isn't it also the only place where you can see a cool moon crescent appart from Starry Desert which is next to Vault ? :0
You mean Eden? Yeah!
Sorry to disappoint but the space station and office are not canon
As much as I hate it though, I love this theory
Love how the first time I went to Eden was also the last quest of the Little Prince so the emotional damage was high on that trip
ough...
Curious, if the game maps out every location that either has a winged light, or of importance (like the office for some reason in the canon sky map), then where would the dark room memories go?
Would they branch off from Eye of Eden?
Or would they be in an obscure corner of the map?
Or would each room be near a realm, as if linked to a particular elder?
So many questions.
Darkstone is dangerous, that’s all I have to say
Hi 👋
The last one is more likely
And yet is the power that lifts entire islands, influences nature and possibly give the elders their power.
Darkstone is mostly used in gates and elevators, we also see it in the form of falling shreds in the season of shattering, the elders uses light and get strength from it. There isn’t a lot of light in the golden wasteland, and the realm is heavily polluted, when we go to the temple we see the elder weak and when we give him light he becomes strong
You’re free to correct me if I wrong or if you disagree with me
Darkstone is so cool I love darkedstone so much #darkstone forever
I know right, like you can use it in activating gates and such
So true. You can also use it in weapons, you can use it to levitate things, also it is heavy enough to throw at people and smack them with if you so choose. Overall, 10/10 material. Mantas are a small price to pay for the joy of cool shiny magic blue rock.
Destroy all which hurts mantas
ancestorcore
I can name many people I would like to throw darkstone at, and frankly I am mad I do not have that opportunity
I wonder if the ancestors could make darkstone with the tiny motes we see Laughing Lightcatcher gather, or if these tiny bits of light weren't enough.
Perhaps they can, but only to lift light things like the boats we see in Isle ?
See it’s funny that you say that — look at these doors in Dawn’s temple! They function like darkstone in the way that you light them with your candle and they move things, but if you look closely you can see there’s no darkstone! In fact, this door can do the exact same things that Rain’s temple door can do without any darkstone being involved :3
I think the ancestors started harvesting mantas (& other light creatures) in mass for power diamonds as their population increased and demand rose rapidly. industrialization for more efficient production
hm, perhaps power diamonds are made particularly from light creature light while those could be made by motes?
That’s what I’m thinking! The interesting part, though, is that we have to light them for them to work. I would expect that if an orb of pure light was substituted for darkstone, the mechanism would be powered on constantly and not stop — ie this door would constantly be open. But it’s not. Wonder why that is
a door has to open and close, and perhaps lock, so a mechanism shouldn't be constantly powered and keep the gateway open
it seems whatever these are used for, it depletes light, thus needs to be recharged
the game doesnt really explain the anatomy of a sky person too much, atleast as far as i know..
but i've noticed that some masks seem to indicate injury, for exaple the marching adventurer mask (first image) and the anxious angler mask (second image) though this one moreso seems to indicate scarring.. or atleast mask damage.
Plus the two valley ancestors have prostetics.. so.. skypeople can get injured like humans? we never see skykids get "wounded" ingame, not in this physical sense, anyways. They CAN become coverd/impaled(?) with darkness crystals but if they regain light they have no physical trauma like injuries or scars
but they do seem to be to able to lose parts of their body (vessel?), with lasting scars even, maybe?
maybe candlelight is enough for these ? Redid Shivering Trailblazer's memory today, and near the door, they hold out their hand. Kinda like us holding out our candles...
Skykids can be seen limping when hit by darkness, either by shards, or by dark creatures such as crabs attacking them. Maybe they do get scarred but heal when reaching the light, since you see souls breaking free from their shell in Eden's point of no return after you die, and some folks believe only your soul ascends as you reform a body upon landing back in the realms because of this, so adding scars that would dissapear was judged a loss of space for nothing.
I think Skykids are magically sturdier than they look, kind of like a paper lantern that was enchanted with "Unbreakable" like in minecraft
yeah, thats my overall idea!
Sky people can go trough varying amounts of physical traumas troughout their lives which can and mostly do reflect the hardships they went trough, for example, both valley ancestors having lost a limb on opposing sides (though, what if it was no incident..?
)
But once they reach the end of their life and rebirth the scars and traumas are healed, as they leave behind their vessel and reform into one anew.
I’d assume so, but why are they constantly glowing, even before you light them? If the ancestors managed to amplify the power of one candle’s light enough to move heavy doors, then why didn’t they just do that all the time instead of darkstone?
I meant like, maybe they were holding out a candle like us
Sorry for not being clear.
Oh sorry, I get that. I was still focused on the mechanisms in Dawns temple
As a moth I saw the ascension from the Storm to the Light as leaving behind the material world to embrace what matters, our bonds, hence why we leave behind our shells and ancestors gift us their clothes before being brought back to the stars
I got in beta with the newest wave so I have a few screenshots of the early game texts (so no beta-exclusive content), give me a few minutes to translate these because it does confirm or give credence to some tidbits here and there
yall talking about anatomy while i'm dying in Eden
Vela, congrats on getting in beta
i would like to talk about birbs for 2 seconds, specifically relating to this art
#completed-sky-fanart-and-creations message
WHY have i not talked about koa in depth here i cant link anything tsk tsk
birbs are everywhere in sky. they are free, and can go wherever they want. they rule us as god. contrasting that to koa, who’s confined, unable to escape.
that was it i just wanted to talk about birbs
Organize this somehow, following this reply chain is a bit tedious. Otherwise, it’s a good theory, although the Sky animation project is coming soon.
As promised
yeah! our ancestors share their identity and experiences with us so that we can shape ourselves from theirs.. quite symbolic and beatifull, actually.
Now imagine if we had outfits from spirits that included prosthetic limbs.. that would honestly be so cool..
From what I gathered from this:
- Somehow the spirits/ancestors lit the skies, and connected the realms (by traveling around ?)
- Elders ascend them to the sky
- You "wake up" the spirits and elders (I think the correct word would be "awaken" but in that case, the french word would have been "eveiller")
- They and the narrator are waiting for you in the Light
- Constellations lost their light, and regain it when you find spirits
This gives us a clue on the identity of the narrator, they're waiting for us in the Light alongside spirits.
As for constellations losing light when losing spirits, maybe this means each spirit is linked to a star that, if not properly ascended when dying, can damage that constellation. This explains how they could both be down there linking the realms as well as lighting up the skies.
Maybe the elders ascending spirits actually predate the Eden beam...
greetings lore people what is the topic
As for spirits being "woken up", maybe being petrified feels like slumbering...
ik the common thought is that the narrator is Megabird but that is in lieu of another fitting role. the assumption relies on the narrator to know the full context of a newborn skykid's task as well as be omnipresent, in a way, that they'd be able to speak disembodied in multipleplaces.
If I had to guess, I would assume the narrator is Megabird, explaining the continuous uses of ‘we’ to describe every category, but I’m reluctant to give up the idea that it’s pointing candlemaker
then.. how were the spirits each not able to ascend properly? How did the lights get lost, anyways? due to the influence of the dark intercepting, maybe?
gestures at the Storm spewing darkness that feeds on light
ah, yeah...
Well, a theme of the game is bonds and community, maybe there's a bond between an ancestor and their star that's broken when they're petrified, but mended when reunited to the firmament !
Elders being able to ascend ancestor spirits could be connecting the tether between ancestor and star or star to constellation
ok but tbf if i was tasked with welcoming flying toddlers to the world to save us all, I'd use "we" too when talking about humankind. You're only limited by how far you take your mental gymnastics here
That’s true! Let me see if I can find the exact phrasing of the intro in English rq
common french L
that and the usage of "we" can tie into the theory describing Megabird as a collective – all the light into the Light, a hivemind, the light cycle itself.
We are all one and one is us all
Kinda like how before WL was introduced we had to protect the emotes instead & not lose them
I found the intro… from 2019
I’ll drop it just in case because iirc they all tell the same story, just in different phrasings
But darkness came, and the stars fell...
Together, the fallen stars made a new home in the clouds.
If only they had listened...
A long time has passed. Now, I call to you.
Wake up, child. Bring our lost stars home.```
if stars form constellations and each ancestor is a star and the Elders are stars and skykids are stars, if Megabird is composed of all beings of light in the Light, is Megabird just the constellation of all constellations? a galaxy, a supercluster...
...and together, we lived in harmony.
As spirits, we soon became many
...creating our home here in the clouds.
But darkness came and the stars fell...
...and with their light we faded away.
A long time has passed. Now we call to you.
Go forth, child. Return our spirits to the stars.```
Current intro. I know there’s a darkness blinds so I cast them away one and I’m trying to find it
Update, apparently that fragment isn’t canon
DARK YOUR MIND
ELDERS LOSING ANCESTORS LIKE LA PLAYERS LOSE EMOTES IN EDEN ???
@keen shore your thing about the dissapearance of the elders instakilling ancestors
but that was Light Awaits. in Live, we lose winged light
Someone transcribed the Japanese intro here that says "the stars who made a mistake were driven from the sky"
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Oh hi Spear
That intro frustrates me a bit ngl because I can't parse the poetry from the lore.
I mean we meet them all in orbit again
There seems to be a lot of references to ancestors coming from the sky and falling to where they lived, which is really weird to me. Especially in the 2019 intro where you get
But darkness came, and the stars fell...
Together, the fallen stars made a new home in the clouds.
Where the ‘new home’ occurs after the stars fell, but the switch trailer shows ancestors doing their thing along with an already set up temple in Isle and directly states that it happened before the stars fell
How does that work
Maybe there were already people there and then there was a separate civilization in the sky?
had a theory that maybe dead ancestors become stars, so the stars falling means there are spirits among living ancestors
didn't the final Shattering poem refer to the Elders as stars? then maybe it wasn't a literal "falling" but rather referring to the fall of the Elders, their loss to darkness. hence darkness causing stars to fall
the game and trailer do have stars literally falling tho
Yeah, good point! If the stars are only the elders, that explains the intro wording a lot, although who even knows how temples would work before they fell
Imagine your grandma dying and getting into a spirit fight and going nvm I'm back what's up guys
my grandma would do this tbh
I’m now declaring this happened with the entire Belonging family, they seem like the type
i just finished drawing something for a hc (theory?) here so imma write that rnn
Oh my god, they were getting gifts for their burial... it all makes sense Grandma went "guys I'm back abort the heists" with the bell
Imagine descending just to steal everyone's things for fun
Grandma belonging has beef with everyone in orbit and that's why she just stays in forest and cooks for skykids
Community service
Stealing from the elders instead, just what granny would’ve wanted <3
Grandma is repenting the entire phantom thief family's crimes with community service and dough balls /j
hey if you're a ghost, you can walk through walls. makes breaking into vaults easier /j
i had alot of time on my HANDS but im gonna go insane if i dont talk about this hc i have ive had it for months, anyways
i started thinking about the consequences of using magic in sky, not exactly bad but more like an exchange of it. Like in alot of fiction, the magic in said fiction has rules; what you cant do and how it affects you to keep it grounded in that media
and to me i was like hey, what if when you use magic in sky and your hands and veins show it
like normal spells like clothing spells could be used normally, like telekinesis seen in vault or being able to make small projectiles, so overtime use of that magic could have white veins, like Daleth's, same for red and purple, for me red magic is only used to destroy or it's only capable of destruction. (Like ark's farm isn't faring well and same for shipwreck. And for purple i can also see it being focused on the mind, being able to make things by thinking of them like physical holograms that can interact with the environment. (idk what else to think of for purple-)
here's when it gets good so elemental magic overtime can affects the users hands: Air/teal magic: hands become more dry/cracked,
Earth/green magic: you have small plants growing on your hands,
Water/Blue your hands get rlly wrinkly, think of when your swimming and your fingers shrivel up.
And fire/orange: well, you get burns (they hurt)
THIS IS SO LONG AUGH I GOTTA SPLIT IT
To me ancestors when they use magic have very minor signs of magic use, any way to tell is if you can see very faint glowing veins, i can see mages showing more clear signs but not to the extent of what i see the elders.
To me the elders have enough light to just be able to REALLY push how much magic they use, hence why all their veins are very visible and the effects for the elders with the prophecy elements are more severe (i got lazy with the twins hands 💀 )
but yeah that's my magic theory/hc :)
oh and the elders have like their hands tinted the color of the magic they most use because yes
OHHHHHH I LOVE THAT TAC 👀 this is really cool and I love how you drew it out
HEHE THANK YOU (IM NEVER DRAWING THIS MANY HANDS AGAIN
)
and i can keep this hc because maybe when the elders just died their magic faded and thus, seemingly normal hands (albiet very veiny)
oh and i think i started thinking about this when i thought about tsadi's gauntlets. Like maybe they wore them so it wouldn't hurt their hands as much because fire magic idk, like tsadi could've worn more armor but just only did on their head and hands
tac, this is gorgeous and well thought-out. I love repercussions for magic users
hehe thank you
like there had to be magic school's in sky, maybe in vault? like magic was probably a regular thing used and just having some of the elders with this elemental powers without some exchange or concequence got me thinking
Im also a firm believer that healing magic is the most dangerous to use to the user because to me you give part of your lifespan to heal someone, which i think is a fair exchange
The fact that Dusk is getting the short end of the stick yet again with the most painful side effects is making me lose it.
It makes sense though, as orange light would probably be one of the most powerful lights next to purple, so it gets more extreme side effects. Maybe purple makes your hands kinda ‘glitch’ at the edges
(Dusk being the middle child yet again) and oooo i like that that glitching idea
i just realized my grammar error helpme
quack
either sweaty or just look like raisins but it could be both💀
wet/moist raisins
now im just seeing teth thinking they have a grip on something and just- it slips through their hand
Consider: cold, feels like clouds to the touch
I would assume it also effects hair to the same extent, making it floaty like you’re underwater & having a cloud-like texture
oo yeah! maybe for tsadi their hair move's more like fire
im never going to remember these things, does anybody have a link to what all the colored lights mean
I dont have a link, but I do have this image from Alasdair
Red - Void - controls darkness and its ability to ‘consume/release’ things. Imagine darkness like a Venus flytrap; red light can influence its opening and closing, releasing things it already consumed. This is how it brought back the Ark’s murals; darkness had consumed and destroyed them, and Nodding Muralist used it to bring them back. Related to the trait of Tradition
Orange - Fire - controls and brings flame, especially in relation to the flames/inner light of creatures; hence why it summoned light creatures for the ark. Related to the trait of Courage
[Yellow is the color of general, non elemental light.]
Green - Earth - controls rocks, plants, & is also related to light creatures, similar to Fire. I still have to work out how this final relationship works, so keep that in mind. Related to the trait of Tenacity;
Cyan - Air - basically what it says on the passage. Controls air & air currents, makes things float, and presumably can create things like vacuums as well, but we don’t know for sure. Related to the trait of Balance
Blue - Water - controls & purifies water, can bring rain. Related to the trait of Patience
Purple - Mind - can manifest tangible constructs out of light, like how it created the tents in the ark; may also be related to telekinesis [still playing around with this idea] Related to the trait of Creativity
Which I had stolen from Sophos btw
HELLO ??? THE WAY YOU DRAW HANDS ???
also i love this so much, i am a sucker for effects of magic on bodies so i am looking intensely
hehe thank you, references came in clutch but it still took like?? i think 6 hours💀 i cant remember
and same here for magic affecting the body i think it's super cool
come on i want to write now
i can just imagine the elders’ expressions
*you got this iydll
*
may i ask what magic dawn and sunset are using?
Presumably red and cyan
I like this cos in my verse, ancestors are fleshy and light flows through their bodies like veins
for me i see both of them having cyan/air since that's what shown in the prophecy mural (i gues sthey share it) but one having red magic would be cool
One with the colored lights
Makes me wonder, what is the difference of Elders using colored versus normal ancestors using light?
There’s a thought that Dawn learned to use red light since that’s all that’s left. I think they might’ve picked it up when exiled
oo i rlly like that ide
been considering perhaps that's why Dawn was with the other Elders in the final Shattering frozen memory – the other Elders equipped their help to deal with the Eden diamond going rogue. didn't work but an attempt was made
im not good with glitch effect's but
it's the thought that counts
(even if it didnt work-)
fascinated by how you draw the Elders
the brainrot is DEEP i rlly like drawing them when i can, though i tend to default to Teth or Sah
I think about my skids interacting with them. Tomatoá and Day, Amander and Bailith with Rain, Noss with Dawn, Naihho with Night or Sunset.
actually Amander interacts with all of them a lot. OCsona problems
but especially Rain cos I'm normal.
ooo nice! i remember you sharing some writing of some interactions, (which we're really good
)
me: I like Rain Elder.
one of my OCsonas hates Rain so bloody much
gotta have some sort of conflict
for my skykid oc's they just be doing there own thing, (i mean like one eats darkness plants because they can but that's just silly goofy things) i tend to focus more on spirit oc's
my ocs are mostly wanderers who occasionally interacting with other skykids. i dont really make any ocs close to spirits/elders because im afraid i wont do them justice when writing

tbf when you have 80 skykid OCs, some will be interacting with the Elders
yall thought I was joking?
that's alot of sky kid's
okay but like this is actually them
dope as hell, firebender Dusk
DUDE I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
YAYA VERY DOPE (they hand's hurty💀 )
I bet Dusk's hands are always warm. soothing
ooh yeah! that can also be a side effect from the magic, maybe they give the best hugs too
i also see Teth, the twins, and ayin being able to do similar thing's with their respective prophecy element, avatar is probably the best example
yea yea yea you got colored light you became an element bender it just works and it would be so blooody cool
Yeye! also a sad idea i thought of is that Tsadi just wanted to create thing's with their fire, like Lmmed with their purple light, lil fire creations but then war happened and they've only been able to use it for destruction 🥲
like maybe the fire helps recharge ancestors but that's all i can think about
relevant fic posting
Vuxor doesn’t completely understand why they happen but yes it’s Dusk’s fault
*oogh this is good
*
also something i noticed, the catapult in the graveyard, the bowl we sit in to be launched from is made of metal. The type of catapult it's based on, an Onager, it's always is made of wood, i cant find anything of the bowl being made of metal irl, maybe Dusk used their magic to make actual fireballs to launch, hence why the bowl would be made of metal so the catapult wouldn't burn, just thought that would be cool
the rest seem to be made of wood, except for the bowl
like maybe some did exist for metal irl but i cant really find any images on it, metal would probably be used for really heavy stones irl
Maybe that's why the Enchant crew got a catapult too they were launching fireballs
WAIT THEY HAVE A CATAPULT?? IN ARK??
Sets own realm on fire, refuses to elaborate, leaves
Yeah, at the purified pond, it's destroyed
brb getting on sky right to find it now how did i miss this💀
It's under the water
if i point the camera under the water it could i see it?
I'm already at the Ark
Of course you are
hm. if samekh's prosthetic arms were made of wood would they start like Growing if they had prolonged exposure to green light
i'd say so yeah, to me greenlight exposure after while would affect more greenery to show
idk about growing that would probably need a ton of green light
idec if it's impractical/implausible I just think it would look really cool
also tsadi noooo
There, or it's just comically large spoon for cauldron
ive been playing this game for over a year how did i miss this?? okay but thats SUPER cool
Who the hell were they fighting
There is a krill over there
probably that single krill at the entrance
the enchantment spirits would be the type of people to have a comically large spoon
were they fighting kriols yeah
No one, they catapulted scarecrow farmer into the void because they couldn’t tolerate them anymore
Enchantment couldn't beat the gay allegations they crashed
every word in my previous message is spelled correctly and if you see any typos no you don't
You are Right
The spoon
Nice fit
just got a funny idea hold on
thank youu, i was trying to style water prophets cape (gay pant's we're a must)
Pov: you started reading in here randomly and now you are confused
Feel free to ask any questions, we love explaining things.
are pancakes canon in sky lore?
There is no evidence for or against them
I don't recall pancakes explicitly making an appearance on Sky but it is highly likely they exist
the wafos
they would probably be diamond shaped imo
I have a question those players who joined sky beta yesterday ( ||I’m one of them||) how they got yet cape and Aurora IAP while I got just the orange cape 🤡??
might have better help in #beta-discussion
Thank you 🤌🏻❤️
Do you want to stop the confusion?
Will it spoil anything from the next season?
(this was funnier in my head) i feel like the enchantment crew bullied the krill so much because it probably was the same one that destroyed the ark that they learned to stay FAR away from from the enchant crew
tac I’m losing my mind
Scarecrow Farmer WKSHKWHSIWBDIAHESJ
they're so happy for their weekly bullying of the krill
They’re so pleased with themselves
AWWWWW THE CREW
up to shenamigans
OMG MY BABYGIRL
i can see them taking turns of targeting certain parts of the krill to make a game out of it
my skykid’s parents,,,,,,,,
Funny question: Which part of the krill made the krill mad enough to destroy their ark?
Or did the krill have enough of the crew bullying them
i think it might've been the boat itself, moving object and all since shipwreck is broken and a krill is also there so i think krill's target anything that moves or is from the sky world (little prince is an exception apparently)
Although the murals painted on the Ark suggest it crashed from a storm
ah right i forgot about that
They were going somewhere, big storm
Then
Bolt
There's still a lot of mystery surrounding them & it's annoying
krill probably found the ark after it fell and wouldn't leave them alone (maybe taht's when the crew started bullying them
)
WHAT'S THEIR DEAL!? WHO ARE THEY??
THEY HAVE GAY LIGHTS THAT DO MAGIC THINGS THATS ALL WE REALLY KNOW😭 (and like maybe were collaborating with lightseeker group but who knows
)
I need to know & understand the magic system to its bare essentials, it's just boggles my mind they introduce it then did nothing with it
I love enchantment hiiiiiiii Tac your art summoned me . I would love to talk about them
hehe nice! (and for enchantment im just realizing how abrupt the introduction to the light really was, like your right dark they showed it and did nothing with it 😭 )
Vela introduced the idea to me that enchantment guide could’ve been Nights apprentice and I can’t stop thinking about it makes a lot of sense
they weren't lying enchantment art really can summon vets
wait now i'm liking the idea
(if only we had info cards back then😭 )
I would sell my soul for an intro card for them
like look it would explain why they got scholar headdresses in the murals
i can imagine all of them having their respective light from each quest
"they introduce it then did nothing with it" sums up almost everything in Sky lore tbh
Except colored lights because that's like the one thing that keeps returning in newer seasons
YES YES DID I MENTION MY THEORY ON WHY THE ENCHANTMENT QUESTS ARE LIKE THAT YET
wait yeah i wondered about that too! and the tallest one would've been lamed's, maybe the enchants crew job was to try and restore wasteland into what it was before the war, (but then storm-)
Yeah but what are colored lights? What are they capable of? Were they sought after? Was it truly a storm that knocked them down? What are their limitations? Their cons & pros? Why Enchantment guide is so adorable? I have so many questions it's unreal
Sky Children of the Light: Season (2) of Enchantment
They should make a sequel to enchantment I agree with you. I totally don’t have an entire mental story for the season or anhfhing
It should be a crossover with Lightseekers
They should kiss
(so true dark)
ough lil offtopic but i wanna spill about like my found family elders hc but i will draw them first because picture's speak a thousand words
Tbh I think if there's one thing that Sky needs is more crossover seasons
Like we already got Performance which interacts with rhythm, but I feel other pre-enchantment seasons deserve crossovers with future seasons too
Gratitude & their twin from Ungrateful
I know it’s pretty heavily implied that enchantment and lightseekers interacted a lot which means that it would make total lore sense in game for there to be a crossover season (tgc please use this idwq)
Lightseeker with their long lost sibling Darkavoider
Season of Belonging crossovers with a future seasons called Season of Divorce
Lightseeker with their long lost sibling Darks. Darksta. No way,
sky x warrior cats crossover, we see the elders as cats
I was about to make a joke about CW's evil twin but just realized they'd be the evil twin
the normal twin is candlemaker
ngl Darkstalker would be a good name for an antithesis to Lightseeker
Unfortunately Capcom ninjas would strike you with a thousand bolts
Another good name would be Lighthiders
Imagine a whole faction of ancestors dedicated to hiding the light from the elders and lightseekers
... Actually no I think that's just flight gang
Lightweavers
im starting to get art burnout so i cut this short but because i ADORE the found family troupe: in my hc the twins fell waayyy sooner that they we're supposed to, hence why they're kids. And my lil brain is like: imagine the other elders all taking care of the twins and watching them grow up and also found family."😭
Oh that is adorable
two of them
They are all ready for that go ahead before they even see it
Prairie got the sassiest reaction like "what do you think I did this????"
Tac giving us the good art
Thank you very much!!
I had a question, if these are not the eggs of those little birds, then whose?
Its an easter egg(s) it used to be part of the daily quests to visit these eggs if i remember correctly
I dont think it has anything to do with the lore but you never know
Sorry for late reply.
And apologies for the direct responses.
You are right to say darkstone is dangerous.
I wanted add onto that being despite the consequences of that much power being misused, the ancestors (as well as the elders) have relied on it a lot.
One can also see darkstone used to lift up or float entire buildings.
This feature is clued in with the Vualt elevator. To which can be seen used by some of the floating buildings in Valley of Triumph.
Even though the game itself has it limitations when it comes to showcasing an entire city in the Mountains. Some building assets, as well as in concept art, shows buildings being held up by platforms powered by power diamonds (darkstone).
Okay so I'm trying to catch up from yersterday (ahah help, lovin' it tho)
I don't have the docs here on my phone but reading the big concept art pieces,
From what I gathered, I thought the Ark crashing was what made it all go boom
From my memory, it said that they were escaping the 2nd attack of the creatures. Losing the war, they hopped in the Ark with the powerful lights to escape, but they got destroyed by the creatures that followed them and crashed.
(here is where it all gets blurry)
The crash caused a big explosion with the lights together, wich, could have made the big Diamond in Eden loose control and "trap Prince in his own crown" as it was destroying everything and corrupting creatures etc.
(It's blurry because that's not really what shows on the boat, so I guess it got re-rwitten, maybe the Eden Diamond WAS already the storm the caused the boat to crash, and maybe the elders where trying to do something to stop the Creature Attack.. which made it explode like the last memory in Season of Shattering
Also you can see multiple light of the same colors on the murals, I wonder what this is about
And I'v always wondered why the red light was both in Ark and Wasteland while the others are only visible once in each realm
Red light being in multiple locations might be for ease of access during quest days, it being at the depths of the Ark served as a tutorial to what the colored lights could be & what we're supposed to be looking for, since we only had a single hint to go by for each, no cutscenes or specific directions
But also red light is where darkness prevails
Ooh okay thank you
I don't think I understand, it was never specified what their destination was or where they fall exactly on the timeline, were they going out of or into Wasteland? The teaser for the season mentioned they are from lands far away/unknown
The murals only specify how they ended up here, the lights were scattered but I don't suppose they were a threat
I'll find the concepts art, don't worry,
It looked like in this version of the story, the boat was departing from Valley, it might not be the same big ark, but I don't see why they would mention it in the concept if it were not as important as the Ark (unless it got completely re-written and it's not event the same idea, but they liked the Ark and implemented it in the game with Enchantment crew)
Do you mean the old timeline Ark? The concept art Ark?
I think so yeah
They're not the same Ark, that timeline is no longer canon either
I see so they did re-write it :c
The current Ark is above the clouds god knows where in outer Wasteland, there were several others boats accompanying it but those have crashed as well & there doesn't seem to be any survivors elsewhere
If anything, the Eden Diamond is likely what replaced the original timeline ark in terms of story. Iirc, the timeline ark was attacked by light creatures, which caused it to explode and send Darkstone everywhere, which created the storm as a result.
While the new Eden Diamond was seemingly not attacked by light creatures, it did likely cause the storm, and seemingly did explode, much like the original timeline ark. So you can still make that comparison!
Now did I think of it, yeah it makes sense, they wouldn't wanna give it all away to the players if it were actually the "canon" storyline..
Can't wait for the next seasons to exist ahah
I love both story lines, and making comparisons
If possible, may I see the link to the original Ark Timeline?
Yus I'll grab them on my pc brb
It’s on Tom Zhao’s site too, and Vela rewrote the text in here as well since it’s a very long image, in case anyone needs it! Oh, hello Vela
👀
#lore-discussion-spoilers message
Yup, that's the one
You can see which message Vela responded to and scroll up to see the whole image, but just in case, here it is
Here's Tom Zhao's site for the concept art lovers like me
https://www.tomzhao.com/
Thank you to the both of you!!
I'm only returning the favor, I found the link in this very channel a while ago
(Of course I spent 2 days analysing every single concept sheet and then 1 day digesting it, then 5 days drawing stuff infinitely, as you should)
lore chat i come with another theory
so i was discussing eden shards and shattering with my friend earlier and a couple of lore stuff and came up to this pretty far fetched theory : could the eden shards be related to those memory capsules in the vault of knowledge?
so during shattering we've experienced that completing a shard event = unlocking a memory and it got me thinking that perhaps eden shards have the ability to remember stuff they've seen and we can enter their memories (like how we witnessed the mantas flying off to somewhere or the krills). perhaps the vault scholars/spirits noticed this and figured out a way to utilize it into storing memories and information into the capsules? i mean they've managed to manipulate light, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's how they managed to store memories.
that's all, i shall dip
morning lorechat
before i start writing i would like you to slam me with links to your elder interpretations (specifically day, writing abt them first) just so i can do this correctly
thank you
I think that Day talks like a cowboy because it’d be funny to imagine them yelling ‘Yeehaw’ as they wrangle a Manta.
I see them being actually pretty calm, maybe a lil grouchy when they first wake up from sleeping (taken from orbit when you get their elder hair) not too happy go lucky like what a lot of other ppl think but they can kinda be like that when in a good mood, I see them being tired a lot of the time
I think sometimes if given the opportunity night would go off on a long winded tangent about some obscure scientific principle completely heedless of the conversation at hand
I knoww this is concept art but i just realized performance's pendant is just a tiny diamond compared to rhythm's, and it got me thinking because like how are season guide's picked? is it the same as prophecy for it being fate? an actual job? if it was either then why would performance have a pendant in the first place?
like does everyone secretly have a pendant like performance does here and it changes when your in a season? this is so bizarre to me, like how cannon are season guides and seasons are in sky, is it a skykid only thing or do ancestors also participate like how we do in some way?
I lean on two takes
- season guides were the first spirits skykids found and rescued.
- Vela’s take that guides were the first to die in their season group.
ow both of these hurt😭
I thought about this and here is my theory:
Since xKuurumii mentioned that visiting these eggs used to be a daily quest, maybe these eggs are supposed to hatch some sort of light creature and sky kids had to take care of those eggs? Maybe these eggs would introduce a new light creature never seen before in the world of Sky. But then there's the question - why sky kids stopped taking care of those eggs? maybe because they realized nothing would hatch out of them?
wait, what happens when you get their elder hair
Prairie Elder orbit summoning cutscene
they look so done and i am all for that
Not an interpretation per say.
Though in season of flight. The devs made these lovely intro cards for each spirit.
The flight guide was even included and dropped a lore bean that they used to be the Day Elder's apprentice.
Suppose they are, it would be interesting to see how they may be linked to the Light Worshipper and the Day temple's door motif vaguely resembling the elder's old concept art mask, as well as possibly the megabird.
Bro doesn't have a neck 😔
Doesn’t need one
has 6 points, Rhythm's pendant on the picture has 5. Maybe Performance is wearing the missing 6th point
When I first saw this my world shattered
aw thats so cute
How solid/canon are Shared Memory Candles? Cause their flame can alter crabs just like cooking them
I think I gathered enough evidences to prove that the middle banners in the stadium are two different colors
Right side of the stadium is Green
Left side is Teal
man
hello skycord!
i have a quick question if anybody minds answering it
what is the known canon lore? mainly, what is the mountain/castle you see throughout the game and where is eden? is it part of the mountain?
apologizes if these are very simple questions, i havent played this game in a bit over a year and cant remember much about the beginning parts
Only with the season icons I now understand what is the choice for the drawing in each musicsheet
Reading Order: columns, from top to bottom
The first column has three sheets sortof depicting N W and a sideway P respectively, so lets call them 1 2 3, thus making the order:

Eden is the mountain.
As for the whole lore: weeping
Very little is canon, just from some Q&As or random answers from devs here in Lorechat we know crumbles, like for example that Elders, Ancestors and Sky Kids are different species and each of them is agender.
At least in english while other languages still carry abit of gender names, but at least try to carry an unexpected pronoun, for example in my language Shy BookWorm
has a male ending while Fainting Warrior
despite the buff
has a female name
really that's just language mechanics though, right?
thank you for this you two! :D
Some languages don't have neutral pronouns, yea
This document, minus the theories part, is the closest to a full collection of canon Sky lore: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
Yes, some languages don't have neutral, but what I meant to say was that even if they used binary pronouns they're still used in an inclusive way, as for example the Bookworm's hair and dress for example could seem more female (and indeed I was mistaken for a girl with that hair back during SoSanctuary ||I had to way till SoAbyss make my intended viking outlook come to life||) but has he/him as pronouns in my language,
i adore he/him bookworm for some reason
holy moly in a burrito thank you for this!!

Ngl the shapes on the sheets might be random. They used to be some other lines but were changed in Performance(?) update
Yeah, something like the lines in the last 4 "?" but at least now seems to be ""sort of"" easier to decipher
Just a little curious, where do you think will tomorrow new quest will be?
I think I might have already spotted the same kind of weird new rock as the one from first quest in Isle but I cannot recall where (it was during one of those days I slowly searched for Map Shrines so I cannot recall
||to tell the truth I sometimes even don't remember the location of a map shrine here and there
|| )
My bet is that Warrior of Love's quest could be in either Valley (cause is the Air domain) or in Wasteland (cause idk, warrior ¿?), what is your bet on?
why did i never notice these 4 statues 💀 i feel so dumb
may i ask why wasteland has a lot of (what im assuming is) resh symbolism everywhere? was it where the most followers were concentrated or something else?
If my memory serves me correct, these are meant to be turrets, as for the Resh shape, I honestly don't know aside from the divorce with Resh and Dusk
Those most likely were laser turrets (as showed in concept arts). Even if those game mechanics were never implemented in game (both live and old beta versions) it is hinted by the simple fact of the orange light/fire element being visible in the murals on Cave of Prophecies walls when depicting Wasteland Elder plugging fire into an open statue/turret
they should bring back laser turrets
the vibe check beam
you mention the Reshdi divorce and get sniped
like dark
... maybe?
the vibe check beam i cant
vibe check (Eden diamond explodes)
Enchantment backstory
Oh hey I thought I felt something summoning me to this channel,
oml, Leon
i love obliterating people with my laser beam
Its all fun in games till it is not a turret
who would own the laser tho. thats the important question
Prophecy murals depicts Dusk putting orange light in a turret thing
PPFTT
Yes and if you look at the statues on top of the temple you can see something sticking out of them
MANTA RACING IS CANNON YAYAYA ALSO AUGHH THE MENTOR AND STUDENT BOND WITH BACKFLIP AND WARRIOR I LOVEE😭
AND WE GET ANOTHER RESH MURAL
(I THINK)
Also these but i think it’s stuff we already know
This one I find intersting idk why (best photo I could get-)
Somehow I think sky kids and elders are radioactive
Those might be the turrets
Yeah the more I thought about it the more it makes sence, 😭I think there were four of that same mural do it could represent the battlefeild when it was active
Hello ! ^^
Could someone send me all the references, concept art of the elder bird please ? ^^

I don't think there's concept art of that bird specifically, only the appearance in Light's intro card, a couple of assets there & there
(i have a lot of thoughts, to avoid posting too many images you get this)
ill be honest i didnt understand a whole lot of that buuuuut
- could these markings represent colored light? blue (water) for isle and prairie, green (earth) for forest, white/ill call it teal (air) for valley, and purple (magic?) for wasteland? ill admit the wasteland one doesnt make sense
- where is vault? im running with the idea that IF these markings existed beforehand and are just now being revealed to us, would it be like a guide to tell us what weve done and whats to come? either that or not a lot of people made it out of wasteland
I'm going insane looking for this in HQ I'm sure it was released but it just won't show up in searches
hmm...
4 elements
4 animals
4 colours
blue fish for water
green jellies for earth
cyan mantas for air
purple/red crabs for fire
As usual, thepieces are a bit janky.
And dont line up with past canons exactly.
Either that id because the story is changing, the lore is incosistent, or something else is amiss.
RIP Rhythm Bird.
There is the flight season intro card of the bird whisperer that shows the bird in a sweet resting pose.
Apologies for the resolution getting scrunched.
is this better? yoinked it from news
Thank you everyone ^^
I remember a pencil drawing done by the artists at tgc, and in this one you could see the Elder Bird. But impossible to find him, I have already seen him pass in this living room and more ^^
Here is the elder bird in the Rhythm cutscene for good measure.
Elder birb

Pls pls TGC
Bring back the bird.
Because that would have been a perfect light creature for season of Flight, the season chock full of bird references.
Surely Dawn elder would love to see the majestic creature soar in the sky once more.
I was so disappointed not to have seen the elder bird during the flight season...
I really hope they will add it one day in a future area
Right?
Spirits are bird
Season area was bird
The was even a quest with big birds.
And yet, the final quest came out of left field with a freaked out greater manta and a reused quest of saving light creatures from dark plants.
The season was fantastic, yet fell flat a bit at the climax with the krill foreshadowing and abundant bird references.
Mind you, the game technically has 1 kind of bird. And that is the small ones.
The bigger ones we had in the quest were more like fragments or memories than actual creatures skykids can interact with.
everyone expected to see the elder bird appear at the end... why a big manta instead ? it is too reminiscent of the sanctuary
Recalling from past dev comments, unless I am mistaken, supposedly the season went through changes and the manta was the planned version, yet the bird details stayed in. Since in previous version, there were possibly more bird elements.
Although, the final product felt like it had more to it that the game simpy did not show more of.
Here is hoping the devs can revisit the area and possibly expand on what they might have wanted to impliment sooner, but might do sk later.
Hi, lore discussion folks!
We went to oob in forest. To the abandoned ¿temple¿.
Down the hallway we found almost fully invisible stairs and cracked textures of jars not far away.
What do yall think about it?
I’d imagine it’s something like this situation: https://www.thegamer.com/this-coconut-jpg-in-team-fortress-2s-game-files-if-deleted-breaks-the-game-and-no-one-knows-why/
I bet something supposed to be there, but we will never know..
I want some theories on from nerds 🦅
This is all so cool, as the Forest citizens toiled away for diamonds the Valley citizens raced on mantas
This is likely a scrapped room.
The caves were added in season of belonging, and while there seems fo have been planning for the room to be assessible, the devs added rocks and seemingly scrapped some assets in the rooms.
As there are remnants of a boat and jars in the room that is not normally seen in the game.
Fun fact, here is a similar 'boat room' in the Sanctuary Island.
Which is conpletely blocked off and only found by going OOB near the jellysifh and crab water cove.
Look ^^
...I believe that is fanart if I am not mistaken (the person who drew this on of the bottom right)
Ah, this is funny.
Verlibird is Ash
on Twitter.
That said, it may still be considered fanart. XD
One look and I was like "lorechat boutta go wild with this"
OH WAIT WHAT
SORRY I DIDN'T KNOW
I swear
I swear I saw an image where someone found the figure of a boat at Eden's mountain before
First time I entered Lorechat was to ask about the misterious bird of snow statue in front of Citadel Gate and with the time I started thinking Ancestors learnt to fly (with capes) from a birds as a sort of Spiritual Animal (Avater The Last Airbender style), soon I realised how silly my moth theory was, cause Ancestors are not flying creature
BUT I was glad that around SoDreams they moved the Backflip Spirit in Citadel and as the first manta rider (surfer)
, even this last epilogue, making them the promoter/forerunner of this amazing sports really makes me happy, rekindling my first theory and making manta flying a canon custom

valley after having such banger seasons every time
I think under the crabs there are mountains/dunes
Wait, i think the murals describe 4 spirits stories, first mural was running Wayfarer (boat and fish), second is mindful Miner (Jellyfish), third is warrior of love (manta) and fourth is seed of hope (crabs)
and the wasteland soldiers as well... seed of hopes quest will probably be interesting
Although I think it would be nice to assosiate colors to a realm, I think in this case those might just be Playful Teams, so maybe the Blue, Green, Teal and Red teams are respectively Fish, Jelly, Mantas and Crabs (this one in particular is leaning me on this idea, cause the lead/hunch from last years Days of Feast ||aka Christmas/Winter event in Office|| was Crabs vs Krills during a football on the ice roof)
Mmm, you could be right, I guess with a bit of WAFO time will tell us if that's as you pictured

1st Quest unlocked "rivers"/banners created from blue/water light
2nd Quest unlocked trees created from green/earth light
3rd Quest unlocked . . . Murals ¿!?
The Elements/Lights was quite strong til
now but the quested left me a bit surprised/disappointed cause I was waiting to see the stadium filled with more Air themed things, the only link I can see is, what? The colors as lighten up by this breeze? A wind of competitions (Teams crest revealed)?
˃ʍ˂
is it a competition? given who the season is crossing over with and that one announcement it might be preparing for a concert
backflips my way into here It is birb time
Four fallen lights... and a big fallen light? Could these be the four stones brought to Isle which were used to create the Trials, with the middle star being the conquerer/the chosen one who would gift the 4 powers
Maybe not strictly related to competition, after all it seems a way to decorate more and more the stadium, but still it is an arena for races, so I think it might be alittle of both
Hello lore chat
After doing warrior of love quest
Warrior of love is definitely definitely confirms the spirits being similar to the elements
Running wayfarer - water
Mindful miner - earth
Warrior of love - air
And seed of hope is probably fire
technically this is still correct! the murals are of none other than an aurora borealis, which is a phenomenon in the sky, and also makes sense because AURORA
Weeeeell, yes they are in the skies, but... its a magnetic phenomenon which creates lights, if you ask me, it's as strictly air related as seeing fireworks in the sky. Maybe an aurora borealis couldn't be possible IRL without atmosphere (cause the upper side of planet Earth 's air is sort of ignited
) and it could be scientifically a cool fact but somehow this is not poetic in my eyes 😅
perhaps the 4 small ones could be the 4 aurora spirits and the big one could be aurora itself?
Yes, it could be read also from this Season Cutscenes too, beside from a Prophecy perspective
From a lore afficionado POV it's a bit annoying that Backflip Champion is not displayed as golden when its sprite is wearing the Warrior of Love's cape. It's sort of the same sprites incosistency which happened in 1st Quest, there were 2 boats with the same golden spirits (Stargazer and Candlemaker) copy pasted
Side Note: the power to reveal murals should be Red Light like the Orb used by Nodding Muralist
/hj 😅
Can someone explain the 3rd Aurora quest?
I hunt the grounds for peas and hate the way it hides from me
To me warrior of love was some sort of apprentice to Backflipping champion, we know manta races are cannon (awesome). But then backflip fell and almost died and Warrior took their place in the race. To me the quest was a nice world building nugget, I didn’t pay to much attention to the lyrics of the song so there might be some hidden meanings idk about
obsessed with this quest so much
the pillow is on the other side king (oh i forgot spoilers carry over like that)
Theyre trying atleast 😭
I think we’ll have to see for the final quest to truly understand what’s going on, a bit like Prophecy. The suspense in the early stages of that season was intense!
Valley spirits lack in smarts what they have in heart.
they also lack 3d-ness (getting crushed by rocks)
thembo problems
thembo problems
thembo problems
thembo problems. so true
Pardon for being uninformed.
What is a thembo?
As in, is it meant to be what the google definition implies, or something else?
A thembo is the metal cap you put on your thumb to protect it while you hand sew
A thimble?
No, that’s a bump on your face caused by clogged skin pores.
bruh thats a pimple. a thembo is a word describing the opposite of complex
No that’s simple! A thembo is another word for wood or lumber.
no idk what that is, i failed woodwork. a thembo is like a type of E payment
Welp.
In any case, I wonder if the murals and decorations in the coliseum would stick around.
One possible outcome would be the coliseum turns back to how it was before the season, and skykids can interact with the guide (or a monument that may replace Aurora similar to the season of Dreams final quest) which would change the coliseum to the different states it had like how the sky can be changed in the season of Flight area.
Or, I don't know how else, other than possibly meditating at a shrine/monument that takes you to a glamoured up coliseum (a separate instance again like Dream's final quest).
The difference is if skykids can see each other despite the different states of the coliseum, or not.
i think it'll probably work similarly to season of dreams or flight where the changes can only be seen by skids. i hope the music stays though
when im at the Colosseum i like to turn down the sound to half and the music to full with my headphone volume up. its a very nice experience and sounds amazing
Here is another plus for the season.
Narrow Capes
Scarf capes
Fancy Hairstyles
And Skipping!
no that's timber a thembo is someone who unclogs pipes
(not very amused about dancing around the word like this)
hm. in doing this bit I have realized I'm not actually sure what thembo means
Hit the urban dictionary
I'd suggest a Google search, as it may not be kosher on the Sky server.
That and if it is what the word would imply. It may not be wise to mess around on the server with borderline words.
(flashback to the Season of Little Prince Slouching Soldier's Dark water drinking habits coupled with curious skykids)
no thats a plumber. thembo is that bunny from bambi
no that's thumper. thembo is a word that sometimes precedes bee
you're thinking too much into it
no, that's humble. a thembo is a sound that comes after lightning flashes in a storm
No, that's thunder. A thembo is the rate of speed of a musical piece
no that's a tempo. a thembo is an indent in the cheek that forms with a smile
no, that's a dimple. a thembo is a quivering movement
Sky theory:
There is no actual lore, tgc just puts vague hints of lore to troll it's audience.
TGC has been known to make games that can be treated like a work of art.
And in the art world, some works can be made without a meaning per say.
Art in general is a work that the viewer can perceive/experience and either ponder on it, or have a conversation about.
For Sky, one can propose that the game is a parody of all the other games the company made.
was wondering why i got pinged 3 times
Flow
A simplistic game that allows players to explore a relatively empty plane whereas they can explore higher and lower levels. The deeper they delve, the darker it becomes, as you seemingly fight enemies, and yet not all the creatures you face are aggressive at first. Protective or territorial, sure, but the game does not explain what is going on. Instead it lets the player figure that out for themselves, just like they learn how to interact with different creatures, how to defeat them and the cycle repeats.
Even though the game seemingly does not have an ending, it was one of the first works that TGC made.
Flower
Similar to Flow, the game lets the player explore what seems to be an empty world. Yet, this time it has more details in the environment. The players is given bits of information that tells a story. What this story may be is up to the player still. As the game continues to explore the relation between manmade creations and nature. Even though the game does not feature any people, nor a tangible character, the game has a personal touch to it, namely in the chapter selection menu.
This is also where the 7 chapter cycle can be first seen in the games TGC would continue to make.
Journey
The game that launched TGC's reputation as well as gaining more attention of gamers. A creation that must have taken some amount of research as well as experimentation. Similar to an Artist's process, the game went through several stages of development. From conceptualisation (brainstorming ideas), research (the hero's journey and philosophy), experimentation (game testing and design), finalisation (polishing and completing the game), to the release. The game explored a lot of features that Sky would inherit.
To name a few examples, there is the traveller that can explores a ruined world, the ancient civilisation captured in murals. The creatures the player meets, flying, the rebirth cycle and the elders
Gotta disagree there, I believe it is impossible to make a work of art that ultimately has no meaning because almost every action performed by a human has a reason and intention, and making a piece of art isn't something you can just do accidentally, it's something you have to go out of your way to make, so even if you believe you're creating something without meaning, "not having a meaning" is itself, paradoxically enough, having a meaning. And even then there's the reason why the piece was made and the process behind it's making so there'll always be a subconscious reasoning for every piece of art, the existence of your own emotions and actions contradicts the idea of a piece of art "without meaning". That and also I gotta disagree with your definition of art but that's a whole different can of worms
But putting aside all that pretentious artist speech I totally didn't just come up with, Sky specifically is a game that has an extremely simple and straightforward message and story being told that's pretty easy to get even without looking at any of the concept art, and most of the ambiguity is just in the smaller details and stuff that isn't directly relevant to the themes
Sky has been influenced by the previous game TGC has made, including one I did not cover yet as it was a student work.
The game, Cloud, was an unfinished game that essentially was about a child moving clouds around and solving puzzles to destroy dark clouds.
The concept of light and darkness has been a notable element in one form or another, for each of these games.
Light and Darkness may seemingly imply the forces of good and evil, however that dynamic may not be the case as neither side may truly fit that idea. As to imply one side is good and the other bad, would further suggest what would be the bad side to be destroyed. And yet the games may instead mean that there is a balance, a balance that requires both sides to exist.
Where there is light there must be darkness, and vice versa.
In regards to what Sky may have been influenced by TGC's past games, may rely on what the player would interpret.
Although in an unbiased investigation, there are some notable features one can look at as a likely source of inspiration.
For Flow, it is the hierarchy of creatures, where the more complex the design, the greater the creature is. That and the creatures featured in the game have their similarities. The snake like creatures may resemble Dark Dragons (krill), the drones being fish like, the jellyfish and even the manta like creatures. All of whom contain a mote of energy (or light).
From Flower, it may be the environmental story telling, the relationship between mankind and nature, and the mission of finding harmony.
From Journey, one may assume the Hero's Journey would apply. However in a developer interview, a new story telling model would likely have been used called a Collective Journey (at 19:20 in the video): https://www.gdcvault.com/play/1025649/Evolving-Emotional-Storytelling-in-thatgamecompany
In addition to the ancient civilisation, the serpent like stone guardians, the elders and the rebirth cycle.
You have a valid point.
As far as the lore chat is concerned, the reason for the channel existing is for players to talk about the lore.
Therefore, if the game were to be like an artwork, we are able to talk about it, its meanings and what each person's take on it.
Surprisingly, in art, there does exist a genre of art that exist purely as an expression, and for the artist, does not have a meaning.
This meaninglessness in art may sound silly, and yet may exist and be called abstract art.
That though, would just be one interpretation of the game from an artistic point of view.
Naturally, there are other sides to the game that people can talk about.
The thing is that the definition of "meaning" when it comes to art can be very broad.
When people talk of meaning in art they often think about explicit political messages and cautionary tales, that sort of stuff, but there's the question:
Isn't a mere expression, communicating a vague emotion, a meaning as well?
If the curtains were blue just because the author liked that color, isn't "blue is a cool color" as much of a message as any political or emotional statement the text is making?
That's what I mean by "no work of art is meaningless"; nothing in this world exists completely without meaning, because that's a privilege reserved only for the universe itself
of course. Art as an expression, or in communicating a message would be considered as something one can discuss. Even as Abstract art has no meaning per say, there is something that a person can interpret from it. Similar to a person trying to describe an emotion (ex. what is the meaning of love?).
DONT GIVE UP, DONT FALL INTO THE DOOMER’S HANDS.
PLEASE JUST WAIT
All of us here are hanging by a literal thread
In all honesty, we can’t look into the developer’s minds, but I’d say there’s a 3/4 chance of TGC seriously caring about the Sky lore.
Lorechat's cycle is of poeple joining the channel's conversations, learning more about the lore, reading on what others say, doing their own research, telling and retelling what they know to newer users and then either keeping doing that, or falling silent for the cycle to repeat.
I think the primary goal of this channel should be to educate new users above all
agreed.
The same thing applies in Sky.
Moth joins game.
Learns the way of skykids.
The student becomes the teacher.
and now teaches new moths.
The cycle repeats.
sometimes i feel bad when i ask super easy questions, yall must’ve answered them so many times
It is ok, bud 🙂
That is what keeps the channel alive.
Besides, it lets people relearn the history of Sky, possibly finds something new people may have not noticed before, or let new people add new info the growing lore of Sky.
it’s completely fine idyll I am fine with answering your questions. i would just personally prefer for this channel to not get watered down to what essentially sounds like a lore based receptionists desk.
i am fine with teaching and explaining things to new people, however, that being the focus of the channel would honestly bore me to death and just lead to us talking about the same several topics over and over. We’d never get anything of note figured out.
But helping new moths can cause them to join this channel and make theories of their own. Most of you started out as a lore moth, not knowing anything.
welcome to the vet club of lore chat, Salem
Where (unofficially, more of a personal tag for player groups/tiers) skykids have managed to live through at least 4 seasons in the game, learned about some of the lore and has become the very skykids that taught them how the game works.
Sadly, as new players join the game, the discussion channel would go over past topics more times than a skykid can count with their trips to eden.
Helping new players is a core theme of Sky (and it goes beyond a reception desk), and I find it works well here
Hello everyone I come with the headcanon that Dawn is actually cultured in slang words and when speaking to moths says things like 'Once, I and my brethren were goated. As our people passed on, we eebied their deebies into the stars, where they joined the Light in a never ending Caramelldansen. But now we are sauceless, weak and uncultured. Find my brethren, and return their drip.'
I feel like you two are misunderstanding me. I said in the message above that I’m fine with teaching and explaining things to new players, but having that be the main focus of the channel instead of just happening when they seek us out sounds quite possibly like the most tedious and irritating way to water down this channel that I can imagine. I can only answer the same question so many times in a day before I snap.
And Raider, you don’t need to welcome me to the vet club or anything. You also don’t need to explain to me what being a vet means, or that we repeat topics a lot. I’ve known about all that for months.
I feel like I counted as a lore vet a long, long time ago.
thinking of that one vela art where they drew piggyback in a hawaiian shirt and sunglasses doing finger guns
now replace piggyback with dawn
Forest elder was so slay back then
Agreed, I do not mind explaining things to new theorists, but I don’t like lorechat being treated as a search engine where one comes for answers and dips. Musing in more complicated and deep thoughts is useful and honestly more enjoyable than dealing with another “can you explain the whole lore?” for the 809th time
I meant it rhetorically (as a compliment).
You have made strides in the lore chat, had several theories people discussed about, and made a few discoveries in the lore as well.
I understood what you meant with once a person know what the lore is about, there is not much else to do in the lorechat other than helping new users. Which may lead to cases like you said.
That in turn may explain why some (if not all) of the original/older users in this channel are not very active.
Obligatory Forest Elder is a furry
YES YOU GET IT! THATS EXACTLY WHAT IM TRYING TO CONVEY HERE.
salem has so many good theories, i steal all of them & add them to my hoard (increasingly ambitious fanfic)
I don’t want it to be a place where people find answers and leave either, I want lore moths to learn about the Sky lore in a more natural lore. Just handing them a document isn’t enough, they should be acquainted with the Sky lore enough to make theories of their own.
I’ve seen some brilliant thoughts & theories (and art & writing) from long time people here that’s the result of building up beyond the basic understanding of the game’s lore. We would not have that if lorechat was solely for mundane topics that have been talked to death
But if lore moths learn about the game, they can eventually make brilliant thoughts and theories themselves. I’m not saying education has to be the primary approach of this channel, but I just want it would be better if more people in Sky knew about the lore and actively contributed to this channel
We do have a number of lurkers who just watch our conversations and build up their understanding of the game that way.
Hi lurkers 👋
when I came in here for the first time, I didn’t need anyone to hold my hand and tell me everything. I lurked for a bit and then I jumped directly in with what I’d heard and seen myself. Although I needed some things to be explained and would gladly do the same for everyone else, reciting the entire lore knowledge database to me would not have been necessary and would have killed my interest fast.
I think you’re overstating a newbie’s need for everything ever to be explained to them, as opposed to just the basics and the allowance for their own ideas to form as a result.
I’d have to check but I believe my first message ever was questioning someone else’s theory aisjwowodkfc
wait a minute SKY HAS LORE?
Yeah, but there are still people in the Sky community who are entirely confused on Sky as a whole.
There are probably people in this very server that still believe that Skykids are emotionless
Hello, and yes it does!
Given the slowmo, you may actually have to wait a minute
No I eated it
💀
SLS died cos they don’t eated
ngl some people just... dont enjoy the game the same way as us. We dont need every player to be a lore theorist, just respecctful of others
The vault elder got Yamchad
Yes it does, but the nature of lore in Sky is much different than in other games.
Instead of a singular, well-defined story, Sky has many environmental clues that hint towards a larger, more complex tale. Would you like some resources?
I’d say it’s worth it to tell every player in this server that the Skykid Emotionless Theory is bad
yeah i get that, hence my point about being respectful of others
If they mention it, then we can refute it. Don’t need to @ /everyone about it
There is someone in this server named /everyone and it’s gonna mess with me huh
also tgc is gonna have to pay me to be a lore receptionist, it's super tiring to have people come asking for the entire lore then get upset or not read when it's a copypaste in the middle of a convo
hellooo I’ve been wanting to dip into this channel but I’m pretty new. Is there anywhere to read the basics so I don’t clog the channel?
Hey Baud, it’s your time to shine
Saying Sky Kids are emotionless is like saying autistic kids are emotionless because they don't squeal or yell or cry as much as other kids.
Just because we don't express emotions the same way neurotypicals do doesn't mean we're dumb or psychopaths. Also hi Kat!
No like in the way of 'Sky kids don't feel and only mimic what the Spirits do'.
Hmm. Gross
there's a common misconception that skykids don't have emotions or "learn" emotions from the spirit memories just cos they don't express them neurotypically. I 've spoken about how it's an ableist take: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
Ooo thank u I’ll read it. I always assumed they didn’t have parents and the elder spirits are acting like a parent would aka teaching gestures. Not that they didn’t have emotions at all which seems like a leap
I see it more that they're learning how to express their emotions via mimicry rather than that they never had emotions to start with. just cos one doesn't express their emotions in a common or an appropriate manner doesn't mean their feelings aren't true
Yes exactly. Like irl we know to wave to say hi bc we saw someone else do it first. Or what a peace sign means
Yeah! I'm of the belief that Sky Kids can feel just like we do but don't know how to express it because at birth Sky Kids are like babies. They can honk to make noise like babies make sounds, but they don't know how to express their emotions physically. As Sky Kids save Spirits, they see the way the Spirits act and learn how to express themselves in physical ways, like how babies pick up on things from their parents and the people around them. Like laughing when we find something funny, or crying when we feel sad.
Alasdair what you wrote was very well said
Or if you want to equate it to Sky, it's like how moths pick up on bowing to other players and start doing it themselves once they see older players do it.
So is the honking just noise and not language
OH INTERESTING THING ABOUT AUTUSM 👍
People on the spectrum don't feel less, they feel so much that it's hard to express and control. children have a similar but different thing where they don't know how to express and cope with their feelings in a healthy way because they need the tools.
Maybe the ancestors give us that. Tools to express our emotions in an healthy way.
Does giving the Skykids a paper to draw what they feel like a tool to express their emotions?
Now of course this doesn't mean autistic people are all mentally underdeveloped, because that's very ableist. It just means we don't act in ways 'typical' for teens and adults. For example I've always been really mature but I still laugh a lot and cry hard and feel happy or angry and all the other things people do. Just because I don't always understand the emotions I'm feeling doesn't mean my feelings aren't valid.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
Aah, sorry I’m a bit late
Yeah and folks with adhd have trouble too. It’s not the same but we also have trouble with “normal” communication and figuring out what an emotion is plus how to express/deal with it. So it’s more common than people think
Someone got beaned
OY WHAT LET ME ASK MY DUMB SILLY SKY QUESTIONS W H A T I TOOK CARE TO TRY AND WRITE THAT WHBWBD
Thanks!! I’m off to read, thanks for all the new info
it seems like a lot of fun here
Scallywag
our expressions are largely social constructs, continuing because we see the people around us that we look up to to navigate the world do them. but not everyone abides by social standards nor does everyone pick up on social norms instinctually. sometimes they have to be taught how to express their emotions in a socially-appropriate manner or at all. that doesn't mean they never had their feelings, they just need the tools to cope, process, and understand their emotions. and skykids are great mimics, so they learning to express themselves from copying the ancestors is not only an apt way to do so but how many children learn to irl
Strega you good? You've been typing for a while.
emotions are a weird soup
Strega does this
If it is alright to mention.
Different parts of the world would have different values. Which leads to people having different takes on life.
What to some would be strange, would be the norm to others.
It does not take away what would be universally be accepted and what is not. Though does leave some amount of grey area.
For skykids, there are several seasons that touch upon different cultures and themes. Which may imply that skykids can have different personalities that they gained from the seasons.
(Rewrite)
Sorry to but-in on the conversation, but I wanted to check something quickly before potentially added something dumb.
Are there any cutscenes outside of ancestor memories where a skykid displays some sort of gesticulation or emotional response that might hint at kind of innate instinctive reponse/behavior. Like steping back when a large animal flies nearby or getting low and curling up into a ball when the ground starts to shake?
||(just a heads up I'm asking this in good faith & genuine curiosity. I'm not meaning to imply or otherwise use this question as some sort of lead-on into an argument. This conversation seems to have a lot of personal things from people & I don't want to give the wrong idea)||
Do the Elder cutscenes counts as "outside of ancestor memories"?
in Wasteland Elder's cutscene, they back up when the Elder jumps down, as if surprised and shocked. when the Elder stands back up, they put their arms out as it cautioning them to be careful.
in the Valley Elder(s) cutscene, they also back up when the Elder(s) start beckoning for their light. then they play around with the Elder(s).
in Isle Elder's cutscene, they give an appreciative nod after Isle Elder reassembles their mask.
Yes and when writing the question I forgot they existed
Eden. Skykids look like they are in pain the whole way through.
Fun fact, after/during Rain’s cutscene is when our skykid first starts getting protective or defensive of their flame
Most amplified after it gets stolen
Possibly the wasteland elder scene with the skykid stepping back with the elder jumping down.
Or holding the flame away from the valley twins.
Other than that, if a hug would count, then the eden scene.
Agreeing to this.
Seeing that reactions are banned.
Also when we take resize potions, our skykids cheer when they get taller,
I love the small, traumatized golems & would protect their adaptive little brains with my life
OH! AND SKYKIDS STEPPING ON WATER!!
Idk how to explain it but yeah
The slow down time used to be 30 seconds
It went down, & back up again
Indecisive slowmode /lh
Discord let me upload a video challenge
slowmode time fluctuating like it is the stock market, lol.
to add to Vela's point, pulling out winged light looks like it hurts.
swag it's not bloody working
Link does not seemingly work, sadly :/
ow
There is another moment where a skykid is expressive without direct player input.
Shivering when standing in the rain too long (with their flame snuffed out), and the sweet little mumbling/snoring while asleep (via emote).
Second to last Performance quest the skid encourages the Performance spirits by doing rapid emotes in quick succession
they also limp or hold one arm when there’s a certain amount of crystal buildup
They limp, grab their chest, and reach other when walking in limbo
In Eden, they also bend over, protecting their flame with their arms and cape. You can’t change this stance.
Also waving hi to spirits (not summoned at the constellation table, but met everywhere else) when we open their trees! (The spirits wave back)
They blink, they breathe
i love it when they do this stance bc you can use it to chibi fall
i like to think skykids don’t need to breathe but they can if they want to
They can if they want to
About to startle someone with a sigh
Spirit side-eyes them like “where did you learn that?”
water prophet
In the fourth Performance quest, pressing icons allows the Skykid to automatically do emotes, even if they haven’t learnt it. The same thing happens in the final Dreams quest.
I used to be a skykids don’t snore believer but I have a vid of what sounds like a sleeping skykid and it converted me
semi same with that one tlp quest in hermit valley with the guitar that the prince Definitely Did Steal
They snore in the faint emote & snooze emote
May I see? 👁️
If discord let’s me upload video
sigh
idea:
if skykids have noses, do you think they have those nose cones that peregrine falcons have?
what I mean is peregrines have these little cones in their nose holes to help diffuse(?) the high speed air going in there. would skykids have something similar, since they also fly at high speeds?
(bonus fun fact: peregrine nose cones inspired the design of engines for several different passenger planes! im pretty sure, at least.)
the video works, only if you download it
Blinking was out of the game for the longest time except for chibi mask so one day they just learned to blink
Yea I don’t want that
blinking update, just like swimming update
megabird just improved the design /hj
megabird telepathically beaming patch notes to everyone in the kingdom
I uploaded the snoring video to YouTube: https://youtu.be/x_vmaClT5Fk
skykids snore like “honk shoo honk shoo”
so darn cute
i did this in two minutes
wait thats not telepathically, shopt
I get the concept
I only heard the honk in the first few seconds, and your friend's heartbeat
I did hear some inhales too
also uh not to be rude or anything but what do you guys think of this?
birb mama
skykids when they hear “patch notes version 15.0: skykids can no longer remain under water indefinitely” (i have no idea when the update actually was and i’m not checking)
CRYING, IS THAT ME
Sleepy Spade
HELP MY GAY PERFORMANCE OUTFIT
this is so cute wth
Vela's short??????
velas the tall bird with the gay swag
now i’m thinking about this skykid quietly snoring, ty alasdair
Taz eepy
i give my hardest battles to my sleepiest soldiers (taz & acheron)
favorite description of my skykid ever
The exaggerated swagger of a gay bird
salem is short i know that's a thing
Bluebird is tall here for some reason but I’m short now
i go afk a lot bc whenever i’m online i get the urge to multitask
ADHD mood
mmmm task momentum
I have to listen to music or something video-game related like a review or a challenge run when I play Sky because brain is like 'You can only focus on Sky when you're listening to something >:)'. Why are you like this, me?
i’m always listening to music
Y'all can multitask? Whenever I'm doing anything I kinda enter a state where I can only do that thing and can only stop if someone else snaps me out of it and then I lose the will to do anything for like the rest of the day
whenever i try to do something i sleep
it’s not exactly multitasking, it’s more that by opening sky i have now done something and suddenly the task inertia is gone and i need to get up and make food instantly
I can be playing game and Discording at the same time
i wrote the first part of my dusk fic while playing splatoon
mod opening lore chat and seeing us on normalposting hours
this is totally lore related dw mods
Okay but I can see some Sky Kids being great multitaskers
i personally like hanging out with someone in-game and going back and forth from chatting on discord & chatting in-game
Like imagine one is casually dodging Krills while taking notes about said Krills' behaviors and habits.
@rigid mural indigo
aw im imagining skykids doing studies on krills as they casually avoid getting hit
vela watching me get krilled over and over
i dodged a krill on barely 6 wedges, i think i deserve to be a bit unhinged
'I'm gonna name you Khicken Nuggie :D' a Sky kid says as a Krill charges straight at them roaring furiously.
me & the bestie
Hanging out having a good time
circling back to this but whenever i remember this concept design of rain i remember they have an old mask from one of their concept designs over the entrance to their temple meaning the elder concept designs have some sort of cannon to me (ik it can be an Easter egg but i like the idea none the less :,), and it contributes to another big headcannon leaning theory i got)
dodging krill scares me- i’ve managed to do it before but the one time i was showing someone i got hit
I love watching people dodge krills * _ *
I’ve been getting better at krill dodging, can’t say the same for those attached to me
im only good at krill dodging on switch, that time with the 6 wedges was accidental
ive had krill rodeo sessions with some friends, i've come close to dodging 2 at once in battlefield but i always fail💀
fursona
yesyes! and it also makes me realize that the other elders concept art designs could be hinted to also being cannon, one of Tsadi's is super cool but a lil ehhh body horrorish which im glad they changed for the tone of the game (or like barely cannon because again, could just be easteregg)
tsadi concept is a spidery thing right
yeah specifically that one, its so cool but i can imagine moth me being terrified at first after experiencing krills for the first time
def do prefer this tsadi . easier to blorbify
that one would’ve messed with my arachnophobia
Dorito Dusk > Spider Tsadi
yeah they do look more like a spider then like human shaped in that one
if sky went with the more darker setting i would be so for it😭
I must see spider tsadi
triangle guy
oh a darker sky would be great. so much horror for everything. doesn’t really fit the current vibe though lol
i think i can find it hold on (and i'll spoil cuz it is kinda body horror)
bodyhorror warning but behold
Tsadi concept
woah
the guy
that is p spooky tho ngl
dusk surrounded by the souls of other soldiers :(
glad to know dusk was always the saddest guy ever
also lynx teth (i think they're a lynx here)
Oh Why Are They Hands
“golden wasteland is like if the Midwest had 73 kinds of depression and also got stabbed” -salem
glad to know that they’ve always been secretly a furry
this is false
wasteland doesn't have enough corn to be the Midwest
apparently this whale is teth's friend in the really small text and i think that's adorable
ITS AYIN ayin was a whale in concept art and held the keys to teth’s realm your honor theyre besties
THATS SO CUTE THEY'RE BESTIES😭
LETS GOOO
THEMM
the comically large key
everyone needs a comically large key these days
so true, i have one around my neck
the lil umbrella
Concept Teth also had an umbrella
If you don’t love Dusk at their spider body horror, you don’t deserve them at their cool uncle.
they have matching umbrellas :,) (also this is the mask they have ontop of their temple door ingame
)
wait and they have like a hole in their side so would that mean Teth ingame also has that same hole if this mask wasn't an easteregg?
Concept Elders were missing pieces of their bodies for symbolism things. Teth was missing their heart
ow thats sad☹️
oh wait, ayin & tsadi were missing opposite legs, i never noticed
Huh. Something something parallel Elders
writing this down in my notes
ough lil offtopic i now wanna draw things for another theory i got that kinda relate to this but this might take awhile so ill be back in like (maybe 2 hours max
)
Concept Daleth was missing an arm
i think sunset had all their limbs but there was also 2 of them
well. there’s still 2 of them
In some concepts they have all their limbs, yea, tho in this one their arms aren’t visible
I love their hair
oh you used some of these concepts for your fic right?
Yea after Sunset “breaks” they wear the cloaks
sick as hell
rotating them

Okay this reminds me: i think that if the twins had a monstery design like the other concept art elders theyd be based on ferrets/weasels/mustelids in general and secretary birds
(oh man first time chatting here) hello hellooo I have a question, I recently read We Are One & I Am Two (words can't describe how much I loved it) and I wanna know your thoughts about, if sunset fell from one star and there were two of them, what would be the difference if one star broke into two? Like that part in tinkerbell where the baby's laugh broke into two which then resulted of two different fairies. Will the two stars be independent or will they be in the same situation as sunset?
Hi, author of We Are One & I Am Two here 👋 Glad you enjoyed it so much.
I purposely kept whether Sunset was borne of one or two stars ambiguous because, like many things about Sunset, there is no clear answer for who they are. functionally, they do share light between their two bodies, hence their connection and liminality between one or two entities.
there's nothing in canon to confirm what would become of skykid(s) born of a single star split in two. I've seen the star splitting headcanon to explain Sunset before. I've also see the headcanon that it would produce twins that are separate and distinct from each other as well as Birdlem's interpretation that it makes two skykids in a situation similar albeit differently to Sunset's.
though I am fond of the idea that even if a star splitting produced separate twins, there would be some inkling of light between them that would forge a bond other singlet skykids would not have.
hm. binary star skykids
i have (a) skykid(s), Libra, who's in a similar situation to Sunset - their light is split between two bodies, and they have to learn how to operate those bodies separately and sort out sensory input from both sets of senses into something comprehensible (i am the Birdlem referenced above)
also hi welcome to lorechat
I love their murder spatula here
the only thing they grill is murder
I tried to ping you but Discord wouldn't bring up your username 😔 glad you popped in
rest in pieces discord is a functional app, ty for thinking of me!
when you want to dump some oc lore but all you have is salad
crazy how I have very few kid ocs actually
me w/ 80:
I don't have very many sky ocs period actually
i have 11 or so, majority is very flat
myst that is..very true
Ive been trying to think/explain how I would expand on my OC lore, but ended up making new concepts for OCs
I def want to do something elder adjacent but hm
💡 metals. they are cool
someone has to make the metals
and the masks also
hm . what are some adjectives that start with m
metallic
no like a [m] metallurge
the adjective starting with m is not necessary it would just be Nice
maroon?
but if it's gonna be an ancestor and give a something then it would need to be an adjective that pertains to an action if that wording makes sense
like the ancestor names? (fainting warrior, blushing prospector, etc)
yes also sorry if my jank spacing is messing with people
ohhhhhh
mourning, measuring, masterful, meek, moody, mysterious
Murderous Metallurge
they will work under teth so that could work
OH CAN THEY HAVE A CAT MASK I have decided cat masks for blacksmiths best ever
Mischevious Metallurge, their emote is pouncing on something
given that's all you've said about them, it's hard to give an adjective to describe someone unknown
this is a valid statement to which I would like to note you are witnessing their creation live on the interwebs
I like saying ideas at people it helps me figure stuff out when I have someone else to bounce things off of
mayb they could have a pose that’s like the timid pose but just behind their back instead of in front
just:
“what do you have there”
“a KNIFE!”
“NO”
(hi just dropping in to say im compiling all the stuff together for this so yay okay bye againn)
bye tac
hi tac bye tac
the slay is insane
hit the slay button forest elder
I keep mistaking their mask for a traffic cone
it does look like one,yea
Sticks traffic cone gently on Rains head
OKAY SO THIS IS MORE HC THAN THEORY ANYWAYS Body horror warning (many eyes, limbs, ect) and I guess elder blood (yellow) eughh i always underestimate how long it takes to make something like this😭
and sorry for any grammar errors im tired
addon to this because i somehow forgot this for the 5th textbox??: ||if a really serious
injury happened that part would just break off, and that light would just spill as they lose control of that forum and revert to their true one. (But after that then can shift back into their previous forum) And maybe this only applies to the body, masks don't have nerves but they're still a part of the elder. (Explains Daleth.)||
and again this is like 95% headcannon, i just personally see the elders being kind of like demi gods and heyy gods can have different forums so-
TAC YOUR MIND
makes me want to do a clean info art of my lanternfolks headcanon
OO THAT ONE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE OF THAT HC
Tac, this is an incredible idea. Biblically accurate Elders too, who would’ve thought—!
I’m just a sucker for body horror and this hits 👌
YAYYA NICE
AND THE FOURMS ARE INSPIRED BY BIBLICALLY ACCURATE ANGELS I JUST THINK THEY LOOK COOL
May I ask what the Fire Era? I know I heard it from Vela before
What's this?
Easter eggs in Sky
Also what's with the 6 stones to stomp on in Sanctuary? Does that do smtg?
Apparantly, they were part of an old quest in Sky Light Awaits, although am not sure what the quest was like.
You can make the bells ring depending on the stones you step on.
Supposed it is something for skykids to play with once they completed the season.
So nothing more than Easter eggs? In both meanings of this word
Yup.
As a nod to the game's history and a cute detail for skykids to find.
So if all are stepped on at the same time, it's not gonna do anything like in Prairie for instance?
Not as far as I know since the season was released
I’ve seen a lot of spirts that doesn’t have masks…and then there is sky kids wearing mask..why does sky kids wear masks and,is it alright to just remove it?
Short answer: skykids are made that way, kind of like a base to build off of and they can choose to keep the mask or not
for me personally all skykid's start out the same, moth's; same hair, clothes', and mask. But the more they explore the world of sky and find their identity, they dress to what fit's them best, mask or no mask. Could argue skykid's wear masks to see since maskless and aurora mask's has our eyes closed but there's not much evidence to prove or debunk that, really comes down to your interpretation, as like 97% of theorizing in sky goes
Headcanon 1: Skykids that are not born in Homespace, are born in different realms, each Skykid is made differently according to their realm that they were birthed using the soil/ materials in said realm
Headcanon 2: Krills are burrowing animals
Pretty sure kids being born in Home is just a gameplay mechanic, you used to be born at Isle pre-global
While I am aware of that, I was being mindful about the "Homespace is a mindspace" ideas, plus it doesn't hurt to consider a bit of gameplay mechanics to lore
I like to think Sky kids have real sensitive eyes and that’s why they keep it closed without masks
perhaps because they fly at high speeds and this somehow helps them? idk but they also always keep their eyes closed without masks so maybe
last night i had a terrible headache and i started wondering. do skykids ever get headaches? or like feel pain besides from when affected by darkness? because like in eden and after getting krilled they do look hurt
but i was wondering if they feel any pain besides that
It's the first era in the Tom Zhao timeline, before the discovery of darkstone. Ancestors and light creatures lived in harmony.
And then everything changed when the fire nation darkstone attacked /j
Tac I love this concept and your art so much, especially how you incorporated the constantly moving/shifting nature of light into the shapeshifting aspect. Do you mind if I use a version of your elder anatomy ideas?
Yeah go for it!

I theorize they are not that dependent on their eyes to see. iirc any light creature have eyes, they just honk, so I think they use something like geolocation like bats do. This makes me believe skykids do the same, they use sound to localize other skykids and even know where the light
is. So maybe when they close their eyes they do lose vision, but they can perceive the world as easily as they would with their eyes open
Ooh yeah I heard of that theory before
it works really well too
I love this! It makes so much sense given how the elders's heights change so much from one cutscene/memory to another. Also I remember an art piece from the devs of a giant Ayin
carrying skykids or something similar
This is the one (by Cecil)
if like an elders arm got cut off would it just be flailing limbs and eyes and wings coming out (sorta like that one attack the Hollow Knight has in hollow knight)?
Yep
and all that remaining light would escape, and the fourm that light came out of would probably turn back that same light to be reused again ♻️
I think I drew somthing like this with Sah but I gotta look for it
oh my god YESSS would give some reason to the constant hight switching, maybe with their new light from skykids they can finally adjust their forums to what they want them to be
would someone with strong light control (if that makes Literally Any Sense) be able to restrain it all from flowing out
is cauterizing sounds a thing, or anything like that
So some extent I would say, light irl is like super fast, we got light years and stuff so maybe they could only really slow it down, *plus I think they would prefer to have a new arm straight away then missing one for longer than they should (assuming they’re fighting somthing)
or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by remaining light
like to me an elder on the outside looks like what we see ingame, inside they’re like an egg they have this huge mass of light just sitting there and giving energy (idk if i explained that well
)
I haven’t thought of the minor details of this but questions like this does make me think about it more which is great for fine tuneing this
because I was thinking like if their arm gets cut off how much light is lost from, say, where the cut was made
how much flows out of the body and how much out of the arm
I’d think an injury serious as that light would just burst out of them (egg stuff), but if it’s like a deep cut then it would just slowly leak out
idk why I’m defaulting to eggs for my example but I think it works the best
and would it behave more like blood as a liquid or would it kinda flow upwards towards the Light since that's where it's going to end up
Yeah it would flow up! Even minor cuts I can see beads of light floating upward but maybe when it’s compacted it would have a harder time floating up (otherwise the elders would be fighting for their life to not shoot back up into the stars
)
or they could use it kinda like a super jump if they let it flow up somewhat but then rein it back in
oo i like that, maybe they could! It would be cool super cool of them being able to do that. Light can be shaped and bent to go anywhere so it makes sence
Again this hc was mostly stray ideas put together but I’ll definitely think of it more because there’s a lot of cool stuff I can think of with this
( i can take lore seriously, i swear )
anyways i like how you draw Sah as both a silly little guy and Biblically accurate angel
This is so accurate
also applies to the rest of the elders hehe
they try to give samekh their prosthetics and the tendrils get in the way
Ooh that would be a pain,
personally for me I see them missing their eye and arm when they first fell from the sky, few examples of their wounds semi cauterizeing (like barely holding together) maybe in their true form not as many limbs form on the side they miss their eye and arm as a result
But thinking of the other elders trying to go aginst light to get their prosthetic one is also funny
Elders being like eggs full of cosmic horrors is so fascinating to think about. I mostly lurk in here but you always have such cool ideas Tac
Thank you! Thinking of ideas like this are always super cool to build on
Also I got school in 10 so imma go, see you!
This idea is so good I love it so much…. Staring at it with so much love and adoration
I noticed that the Warrior of Love gains their cape within their memory when they start racing, and how the Mindful Miner and Running Wayfarer don't have theirs in their memories, perhaps all the Aurora spirits are manta racers too ?
Running Wayfarer already has the travel and movement themes, and Mindful Miner could have turned to this profession after letting go of their previous job due to moral conflicts over not wanting to hurt light creatures.
The colorful feathered capes also remind me of Lively Navigator's from the season of flight, whose info card says they enjoy races !
Canonical sky sports teams
feather capes
Omg maybe each realm had a sports team. Flight has strong connections to Prairie so maybe that's what Lively Navigator's is
I love that idea
and with valley having a big thing about sports it’s definitely possible there can be racing events we’re reach spirit represents their realm on a nation wide scale in finals. For warriors I think that race was valley centric
could the capes also correlate with some colored light stuff? I know they're all the same cplors
Could be both ! Or a coincidence in-universe but an opportunity for this association in meta !
where do they even get the elemental light? Like are they just really skilled in that certain magic?
I also want to point out the goggles Backflip Champion and Warrior of Love use are the same model as the ones on Lively Navigator's hair !
Oh yeah true! I didn’t even realize till you mentioned that
I would love to watch manta races so I can cheer to everyone but warrior of love for locking me out of the quest
Oh also on the topic of capes I think it’s interesting how some spirits have a single star on theirs
The Aurora spirits also each have a cohesive theme as a group (feathers on shoulders, banner-like capes, face paint) and are visually distinct (capes colored like their individual lights) so that they’d both be easily seen as the same team and also identifiable as individuals from afar. Like… if you were an audience member in the colosseum for instance!
My personal headcanon is that they’re aerial acrobats who utilize mantas and their colored light powers a lot in their performances. They don’t have masks because they need to wear goggles while performing. If you’d ever been to a plane show, think like that but for mantas, as well as a lot of midair dancing and colored light stage effects similar to what you’d see at a concert.
We even got posters from warrior so that also helps because what if they’re reminiscing about seeing their posters of them and their team and restored some of them
Rip I haven’t finished the quest so I didn’t know they got posters
(AUGH sorry😭, here’s an image of them spoiled)
Like that is definitely promotional art though look at them
(It’s fine I don’t mind spoilers 😭)
They look like the murals at performance so I wanna pretend they commissioned it there
Stagehand being a well known artist in valley

They’re fighting the big battle: deadlines
OH YEAH THIS IS STAGEHANDS ARTSTYLE THATS REALLY SWEET
I DIDNT EVEN MAKE THAT CONNECTION
no wonder, they’re one of the 2 furries on the performance team
I prefer the term “little meow meow” in their case
yea that’s a lot better
STAGEHAND GETTING THAT BANK LOOK AT THEM GO
That detail is really sweet thank you so much for pointing it out Let
getting flashbacks to the stagehand/perf guide discussion rq brb
Goes to show furries are the best artists around
Furries are bloody powerful
Another interesting thing is the background for Warrior of Love is wasteland (?) nvm
you mean seed of hope?
Nvm it’s Valley castle but it’s green for some reason LMAO
It’s for seed of hope and………I’m not excited for that memory I can just tell it’s gonna be sad
Nothing is gonna be sadder than Warrior of Love dropping me and flying away at the speed of light.
Help I thought you were referring to seed of hopes poster
They switched colors for the lols
the song they’re inspired by is somewhat sad too
“when the last tree has fallen
and the rivers are poisoned
you cannot eat money, oh no”
p fitting for wasteland imo
Here’s my prediction for seed of hopes memory: death, /hj
warrior temporary broke the cycle of somone dying in a memory but I think it’s the calm before the storm😭
Technically they’re all dead but I mean
I mean backflip almost died but lived so kinda broke the cycle, when I saw that I was just like:🫤 cuz I was waiting for it to happen
…but soup
I thought they died and I chuckled 💀 felt a bit guilty afterwards
Someone dies or almost dies in each of the spirit memories so far. Not too far fetched to assume Seed of Hope could die in theirs.
Same because i was just preparing myself for it because third times a charm, I’m surprised they lived from that height
(I’m not ready for seed of hopes memoryghhhhh)
Get it they have hope in their name because they had hope till the end 😁
12 days remain.
Seed of hope hoping they’ll live:
Seriously though I can’t wait for the quest but ik it’s gonna hurt 😭
I want it to be absolutely crushing. I mean like, “they were this 🤏 close to surviving but didn’t make it” levels of crushing
Late but The visual of the Aurora spirits posing for portraits in front of stagehand is making me lose it
anyways uh cyall imma head off to geyser
Me when I finish seed of hopes quest in 12 days even when I know it’s gonna be sad:
Oh yeah they’re probably like “is it okay if I can be in this super cool awesome pose please?”
Seed of Hope doing the Wakanda Forever pose
The dramatic lighting too they really went all out with these
Oh wait was miner boogieing (bruh boogieing is an actual verb what)
AUGH seed of hope as their arms over their chest in an X (totally hoping it’s not some foreshadowing or anything 😭)
Counterpoint: if they died in the quest they couldn’t have become a manta performer later
Then I hope all of their friends and loved ones are dead
I hope they survive atleast😭
Just barely
I doubt they’ll survive but I can hope
Countercounterpoint: they could’ve been a performer who died
This is peak lore chat discussion, if this ancestor will live or die in their memory that we see in 12 days
I hope they suffer /lh
You got haunted
Yeah it’s so I can get things straight with Warrior of Love 😁
help
someone will die
of fun? no. they will die
i think the game wouldnt be able to show us hairstyles we cant wear but imagining the aurora spirits getting a hair glowup when we relive their memory too. magical girl transformation
Trauma gives them drip
They could have like, given them “simpler” hairstyles ig, like Warrior of Love wearing that one Sanctuary braided hairstyle
oigh I need their street hairstyle in-game so bad I don't play but I would main it so mucj
I'm just imagining them helping eachother with their hair and makeup while preparing for a show
we need more stage crew representation with all these seasons about performing
it's all frantic stagehand
that is too much for one person to handle no wonder they're frantic
Would be cool if TGC would go back to an older season, add a new spirit to the cast and even make the season active once more for skykids to trade with the spirits of that season?
Something like a Traveling spirit event, but a whole group of them instead.
For example, season of Performance gets a spirit called Fledgling Prodigy. An ancestor that would like to play an instrument, but needs the help of the Performance crew.
Sorry this was my first thought on reading this
you're assuming i didnt do this on purpose
We’ll never know, all we know that it’s all frantic stagehand
I don’t think you can make anything about Warrior of Love straight, look at them /hj
You’re so right, I’m about to commit a fruit on fruit crime though
dessert
So true
Oh add on to this these forms have wings because 1.) biblically accurate angels inspired but also 2.) to have some resemblance to mega bird, bird traits
Seems to be a common trait with every single artist in the game too, bird masks, bird themes in general actually. Probably something like in Ancient Greece when they’d reenact their own myths
oo yeah i like that idea
, can also see festivals being held in megabird's honor since a lot of cultures do that with alot of their gods
Ajsjsiwowowowlodfjv artists all having bird masks cause Megabird is like the artist of everuthing
frantic is the only exception they get to keep their cat hood
They got them killer brows in a beak shape it’s ok
bird hoodie i miss you so bad
Part of that theory makes me wonder what would happen if a skykid would touch lava.
would the heat charge them, or harm them?
Would the lava be deadly to skykids, or be a supercharged, liquid version of clouds to skykids?

I kinda wish we had an example of like, canon festivals in game. Maybe Dreams performance was something like that since skater kid was wearing a Phoenix mask
if fire can charge a skykid then i can definitely see lava being a super charge, could even have relaxing a lava bath cuz stars are VERY hot irl
Consider: Sky kids taking lava baths like it's a hot tub. Just dive in honking happily.
okay but like THIS performance concept design??? fruitiest of the fruit I've ever SEEN LOOK AT THEM WITH THEIR HEELS AND POSE
Next Days of Fortune, the Gratitude group arrives on a flying dragon boat and let skykids trade for cosmetics of the season, as well as the event /j
