It's the meat, it's jelly basically. The thing is I think Crabs are mostly hollow stone, which jellies later come to 'posses', like hermitcrabs searching for a shell. Which is why we later see crabs inhabiting bells in 'switch trailer'

I wouldn't say corrupted, since crabs can be puppy material. But, they are somehow related

In theory Shard Crabs, def and totally corrupted crabs, were created when a shard pierced their hull, causing the jelly inside much pain. Hence why they go ballistic. Since their weight is centered, thx to shard, they don't need turn when a call sounds.

Also I forgot to mention, calls affect crabs. They create a sound wave that pushes the fragile jelly in it's inside, the weight shifts and they flipped

Well I pin on my own fictional creature, the Light Hawk as well as Stone Bats. Bats are based on the mask of Air Prophet, they may have lived in caves, where crabs lived too and predated on them. Coincidentally, their shell helped them survive doomsday

I mean assuming bats are carnivores in sky, I mean they're canon, there are bats in sky. How exactly? idk

But I presume they are predators since the most recurring theme in Prophecy are carnivore creatures: lion, jackal, tarantula ...

Well, to answer your question more precisely. I think creatures, light creatures can modify their bodies in a way of substracting light, to create stone appendanges of sorts. Creatures that focused on higher light consumption would need more sustenance than photosynthesis, they'd need more sustenance. For some of them it'd be other light creatures. Crabs, would spend less energy in using an already made stone shell, that may fit them too big, but protect them from darkness and dark creatures and predatory light creatures.

So basically they evolved that way pre-animation trailer, since we see the modern crab in it

Does it make it clearer? Sometimes I try to explain too much and it gets confusing

Greetings lore chat, I got internet back so I will just post my latest idea that I got on the road; I realized light creature patterns get more complex as they age, and divided them in categories.

I find this fun to think about since the realms also represent stages of life...

YEAH I REALLY LIKE THJS CONCEPT! I know I said it already but the colors deepening and turning to orange on the ends is really cool to me, I remember the little tidbits about orange beig a sacred color as well from concept art. Maybe this is one of the reasons, as it only appears naturally on elder creatures.

The complex patterns also make me wonder if a similar pattern can be found in ancestors & realm elders, although since they look visibly different I doubt it. I do wonder if the connection elders have to each realm where it’s one of each can be mirrored by elder light creatures in some form though

Like, they’re probably not at this point, but imagine the whole “elders looked different when they weren’t completely drained of light” idea but with ornate light designs on their bodies glowing in the colors of the light they were given

Also something that this image reminded me of was the architecture getting more and more complex as you progress through the realms. Like, in isle people live in caves, in prairie simple houses carved into hillsides, in forest the hollowed out insides of trees; then you start getting individual houses in Valley, with every realm beyond Forest having ornate latticed designs on many doors and sometimes simply to decorate walls

So it’s like… increasing complexity throughout the realms, again

Yes but only for one run through Eden before I gave up on the game until enchantment. They love to tease me about it. I barely remembered it because of a distant memory of a gratitude spirit (greeting shaman iirc?) being in the prairie caves, which they promptly told me was from pre live & stared at me for.

It’s weird because I barely remember that run but it meant I already knew what everything was when I restarted the game, although I didn’t know why

It’s one of the very early seasons that didn’t really have a plot to it. Quests were just find the spirits. By their name we can assume they looked for light, presumably gathering light to share with other ancestors. There’s a theory that these lightseekers existed post-apoc so they were gathering light in a world waning in darkness.

Season of lightseekers is basically about a group of spirits tracking down light in various ways to use for various purposes. It kinda has a loose chronology to it where the ‘earliest’ one is doublefive lightcatcher (in prairie) and then every realm after seems to take place after them as well, with piggyback at the very last slot. It’s kind of unclear whether this is actual timeline stuff or just inspired their designs but it seems to be the first, although the gaps can’t be too huge because we know from DoB they know each other.

Each lightseeker gathers light in a slightly different way and seems to put their own spin on how to use it & find it, for example. Doublefive gathers it by playing with a flute, pioneer tracks down flowers in order to find shelter from the rain, crab whisperer probably uses it to track down people as a search and rescue thing, piggyback is probably using it to heal people, and so on. Take this with a grain of salt because it’s just our best interpretations of the spirit memories.

Vela really likes them and kinda spread it to us so we talk abt them a lot

Regarding the prophecy, my guess is that the prophecy is more or less everything on the murals. I think that was all yet to happen, back then. The masks and cloaks have a unique, more primitive style. The cave was probably more plain when the events were yet to occur, and became filled with magic later, after the events. My head canon is that the murals depict that the kid won and ascended out of that same hole in the cave roof, and then went on using the elemental powers, causing the wind paths to form, and probably fixing that land mass there in place to serve as a base of solitude for such a powerful young being.

same – those petrified skykids are likely your fellow skykids. not actual players cos there is always 63 of them and they're all in the same places, but I think that's an in-game thing. in-universe the skykids who are petrified change places and poses as other skykids go in the save them while dying themselves. they are heavily implied to be your friends cos the winged skykids who ascend with you have the names of your friends.

from the Shattering Q&A on Reddit, the devs said that they intended for the eruptions to be in the game from the beginning, but they didn't have the technology for it. so I like to think that there were eruptions following the initial Eden calamity and skykids were only sent once they seemed to calm down. then Eden began exploding again.

To be honest, I doubt there is any sort of language in the random name generator. The only rule it seems to have is vowel+consonant+vowel+consonant... but otherwise the letters and length are random. Because it’s randomly generated, there’s no language rules the naming system follows.

[typically restoration based seasons] I think you could do many interesting things with this, for instance

• why starlight desert doesn’t Have a theme

I heard from my friend there's a theory on the dead baby ghost manta from vault being the manta that got eaten by the krill in wasteland.

After that I spent hours just thinking about it and finding out there are 2 baby mantas in the game, 1 that guides you and the one you save in forest trapped under darkness. Idk where I'm going with this but that kinda just revealed to me the next generation of baby mantas are trying to help the player

I headcanon that the wanderers and skykids are beings that are sent to retrieve memories and information from the past forgotten and broken kingdoms and that their forms change in order to look familiar and trustworthy to any spirits that may be present and/or to better understand the lives of the areas previous inhabitants . Hence the journey character and sky character are the same type of being just in a different setting.

so its pretty obvious (i think..) that the..beacon? diamond thingy? (lets call it a diamond thingy lmao) needs light in order to function. specifically, light through the lanterns that we light.

it also seems that the constellations featured in the cutscenes have something to do with how strong the diamond thingy is and how high it can ascend without using up all of its light. the biggest example is probably forest as we ascend a fair amount, transition, and then ascend some more. if the diamond thingy is actually darkstone, it could connect to the fact that forest is the first place which heavily uses darkstone (im pretty sure?) and then the higher we ascend, the more darkstone in that realm? that part’s fuzzy

(i sound like a broken record) it ALSO seems that the elevator cant function without the diamond thingy. until today i had no recollection that the diamond thingy ascends at the last level, and that we have to ride the mantas to get to the top. i thought the mantas were there for convenience ngl.

one more thing, the diamond thingy, when its full of light, makes a meditation circle. we sit on it and we ascend. could it mean that even when full of light, its still not strong enough, and needs a skykid’s light to go places?

So.. was that it? I collected the WL with the two kids hugging.. and that’s all. It sent me home. No final cutscene? Does anyone know what was the story? What happened to the elders.. because I could make out at least three elders just flying off from the centre of the ||Eden diamond|| blowing up. At one point, we saw those giant whales, we saw krills, giant jellyfish.. what was the whole point

Yep! I couldn’t see some faces because it was really dark. I really really wish that we got an animated memory finale of what happened to Eden, the diamond blowing up, maybe a replay of the possible destruction of the Kingdom, how the elders were injured or something.. I don’t know.. I’m craving some meaningful closure to all those gloomy desolate memory stills.

This is just a thought that came to me while I was cleaning the shards, but I like to think that because of GW’s center around ships (forgotten ark and treasure reef gave me this idea), that people used to do trades. Since all the realms were collectively referred to as a “kingdom” wouldn’t something like that turn out?

so a lot of theories have come around that the GW is a trading hub for DP and forest to other areas because of all the jars from DP are in the shipyard. [ship... area.... not the forgotten ark the other ship area lol i can't remember the name of it]. it looks like they were on their way to either the forest or somewhere else because the forest needed lights because of the rain [or acid rain as i like to call it lol]

speaking of acid rain, it's part of the 'skykids are clay' theory which i find cool because while regular rain can eventually wear down clay things, acid rain will do MUCH more damage. as for the oily substance in GW, i'm not sure [gonna have to do research into that]

another theory i've seen is that the skykids are made of wax because the wax we absorb/eat fuels the candle in our gemstone thingie. acid rain can destroy wax layers of leaves but i'm not sure if wax can be made from plants. soooo holding off on that theory for now lol

Doubt skykids are made of wax cos the term “wax” was coined and used solely by the community. Officially they are “bits of light” or “lights.” Yes, the candles in the world could be made of wax, but the collectible light they emote and the red candle that holds a skykid’s flame externally are.

As for the rain in Forest, it’s thought that the rain is inflused with darkness from the Storm, hence why it drains light. It makes an analogy to acid raid but isn’t actualy acidic — though acid rain could explain why the trees all look like that.

As for what skykids are made of — there’s a lot of materials suggested. Clay is the most common one and personally the one I find the most likely. Other ideas idea stone, ash, charcoal, and metoerite

Interesting to think if the Forest rain was actually acidic how that would wear out skykids’ material shells. Granted the effects of acid rain on an object take a while to accumulate, but it would be like holes forming or their shell thinning and becoming more fragile
