Not good with writing fanfictions, but I do have a scene for my OCs

||Basically there were two Skykids, best of friends (close to being more than friends a few times) one has incredible control over light to the point where they can shape light into a weapon, while the other has an umbrella for combat. The one with the umbrella gets corrupted, the other saves said corrupted Skykid with their gift of light, looses their memories, demoted to acquaintances, and parts ways. Before they parted ways however, the one who owned an umbrella, gave it to their former friend, and thanked them, leaving the Skykid who lost their memories confused. Now the one who formerly owned an umbrella Skykid now possess the power to shape light into a weapon, while the Skykid who once had incredible control over their light now held an umbrella, and no longer fights, but helps around the Wind Paths.||

Balling Elder Ayin (Prairie ): Dendro, because butterflies and flowers and stuff
Teth (Forest ): Hydro RAIN GO BRRRR
Sah and Mekh (Valley ): I still haven't decided, though they may be suitable for Cryo since Valley is covered in snow
Tsadito Dorito Tsadi (Wasteland ): GEO 100%
Lamed (Vault ): Probably an Electro, seeing all their memory cubes
And Alef/Resh (though they do not exist in-game) would be Pyro

I'm more of the idea that skids don't really use weapons because of the whole community and friendship stuff, but that they would use weapons more for self defence and it wouldn't be wholly physical

I honestly think they'd have both. A great axe is both heavy like the war hammer, but also has the added bonus of a sharp edge. Maybe they made something that could switch into both, hence why the blades/hammer is made of pure light

Reminds me of a halberd, actually! One side is the heavy blade of the axe, then the other is a shorter, blunt point. The purpose of the shorter side was for it to be used to crush armor with blunt force when the axe side gleaned off of said armor. Sometimes, a spear point is attached to the top too for piercing and long-range

Daleth (Isle elder ) is probably going to use their staff and can use spells, and they can also deliver nasty bonks
Ayin (Prairie elder ) might use hand-to hand combat because of their size and strength, and the alternative is BUTTERFLIES (in my hc he's the lord of all the butterflies in every realm)
TETH (Forest elder ) IS OBSESSED WITH HAMMERS AND WILL BRING HER HAMMER WHEREVER THEY GO, AND IS THEIR GO TO WEAPON BEEG BONK

PART 2

Sah and Mekh (Valley twins ) are going to use their paddles and a. fight together or b. attack independently ||or c. end up fighting each other in confusion||. In my hc, the sides of the paddles are actually pretty sharp, so they would kinda work as swords and can also bonk (I'm obsessed with bonk). And as a last resort they'd use their power and fuse into one entity to become more powerful like gems from Steven Universe (my hc).
Tsadi (Wasteland elder ) is a seasoned veteran and knows many battle strategies, and would deffo use their spear and shield (duh). If they lose their weapons they'd go into hand-to-hand
AND FINALLY Lamed (Vault elder ) is really smart and can come up with various strategies. They also know various spells and, in my hc, is an inventor who can create multiple war machines.

Here’s what I think:
Isle is a Wizard, mostly uses birds for offense

Prairie is a Cleric, the support of the group

Forest is a Mechanic, constructing powerful weapons and unleashing blasts of darkstone

Valley is Acrobats, dealing quick, short burst of damage using their paddles.

Wasteland is a Fighter, wielding a spear and shield that is powerful but slow

Vault is a Sorcerer, using mind magic to create murals to help and hurt enemies

So in the final quest, we see isle,forest, vault and one of the twins getting thrown by the giant shard(which i think is the eden one?) does that mean they have died? If they did die, is there a possibility that prairie, the other twin and gw are still alive somewhere even now? I want to add the encryptions we see at the start of isle, could the shooting star actually be the isle elder getting thrown back into the sky realms by the shard? Im not very knowledgeable of lore, i would like to hear someone elses view on the last quest.

I made a dual-wielding sharp version of the valley twin paddle that a skid oc who basically is the overseer of valley (cuz valley elders are stuck in the void and he’s basically ruling over it in their “absence”)
left are sharp dual versions and right is blunt version

I can definitely see Rain making a weapon infused with both Darkstone and their own light. Once again with the Great axe/War hammer type weapon, maybe the default would be hammer and if Rain so chooses, they can unleash extra power from the power diamond to change the hammer to an axe (perhaps the extra light allows them to morph the weapon without using too much concentration or energy)

also aforementioned skykid oc has the ability to channel the valley elders and can do both of them at the same time (to very chaotic effects) so he pretty much invented a spell to make light clones of himself to stuff the other valley elders into so he can rope them into his funny little performances

The valley twins use dual rapiers and you can fight me for it

I think all Valley spirits at least use claymores or rapiers, since they are fighting in style
Other than the Manta whisperer, whom I think is more of a healer with the light magic but

Actually all the elders are there, just that the Prairie elder, the other Valley twin (Sah/Kakashi hair, to be specific) and the Wasteland elder are really hard to see

On the note of dark stone usage, I think there should at least be drawbacks to using ones light to power dark stone

From yesterday's rant:
I headcanon that darkstones, when used in weapons and connected to like these circuit lines on the blade would siphon light from the users and supercharge it! Sort of like the eden crystal but more toned down, but it still packs a punch
I think the ancestors could possibly use it since they too have this diamond thing on their chest and are beings of light

Of course, now comes the side effects: Dark stone itself, when kept in close proximity or is exposed to your own light, it slowly corrupts you.
You might start losing your 'human' instincts, and are driven to be more beast-like
The changes can also be physical: Sharp teef, sort of a clawed hands, the dark shards protruding from your skin... the side effects are different for everyone
hence why i also hc slouching soldier have sharp teeth lol

Alright! OC's combat system lore drop:

There is one drawback to their new light weapon, they need a concept of the weapon, otherwise, they wont know how to make said weapon. My OC carries a bag full of supplies, in said bag can carry atleast 2 blueprints of weapons (to use in combat), there are many types for this:

1. The daggers (Tiny, does the minimum damage when it comes to enemies, but the fastest)
2. Default weapons (Medium sized, which is preferable, the damage to speed ratio is a 50:50)
3. Damage tanks (Pretty big and heavy for a Skykid to hold, does max damage and minimum speed)

And finally, tens of thousands of cosmic mantas for Vault

I think the shard (or the heart of corruption as I like to consider it) was getting too big/powerful from the corruption spreading around the realms, the elders tried to combat the corruption by going straight to the heart of it aka. The shard.

The corruption had not yet reach every corner of the realms so the shard was still not at “full power” when the elders attacked it and I believe this caused the premature “explosion” which killed the elders and secured the corruption’s win.

OH YEAH SKYKIDS USING DARKNESS

I have an OC that uses darkness too but in a more passive way; they used it in the Treasure Reef () to be less easily spotted by krills or overwhelmed by the darkness of the depths.

It comes with the caveat of recharging slower and not being a good flier, but it's super cool because they're balancing light and dark.

In my headcanons, when balanced, both light and dark are healthy, sometimes we need to be alone or hold our ground in the face of change.

I like to think ancestors have an easier time resisting darkness (see Crab Whisperer trudging on through it to investigate a shipwreck) at the cost of having a harder time sharing light; it goes well with Skykid's strongest quality being their vulnerability allowing them to help eachother, maybe harsh times made the ancestors grow so wary of their environment they didn't trust eachother anymore...

Yea yea Abalone swag I love them. I have Nanif who’s an uncorrupted skykid. They originally used red light while corrupted to strengthen themself. At first uncorrupted, they viewed darkness and light as a fight where darkness was winning so they tried to return to darkness, attempting to corrupt themself and, when they caught darkness sickness, wanting the plants growing on them to overwhelm them.

Yet their bout of darkness sickness had them realize how light could persevere over darkness or how they would utilize darkness. So they used red light and winged light to manipulate the darkness plants growing onto them until they cultivated their darkness plant cape. Became full darkness wizard helping out corrupted and uncorrupted skykids, figuring out ways to utilize and tame darkness, how light in general can be used to put darkness back into balance. I like to imagine their Doublefive hat had orbs of red light.

Nanif understands darkness, comes to see light and darkness as equinamous forces rather than prey being predated on.

In the case of skykids, their physical bodies are Darkness, while their life force is the Light. If they lose all their Light, they succumb to the Darkness and get turned into statues. When filled with Light, like in orbit, they glow brightly and become invulnerable.

In my headcanons Darkness represents refusal to change (by doing it literally or avoiding things that could change you like other people) in the face of change itself incarnated by the Light. Having either in excess leads to a static, petrified world and a world that changes so much it becomes primordial soup. But balanced ? The world is alive.

Maybe the ancestors brought darkness because they needed a sturdy society when they sedentarized, then became afraid of dying.

Yes, darkness isn’t evil, it’s just a force of nature in it if itself, like heat. When it’s too hot, it feels bad and with global warming changing the climate and in radically unsuitable ways, one could draw the idea that heat is bad. But heat in it if itself is not bad, the excess amount of heat is. The earth isn’t getting hotter to spite the living things within, it’s just getting hotter due to greenhouse gases humans put into the atmosphere. Heat is just a force.

Darkness isn’t bad, it is just a force that doesn’t think, only exists. but the excess amount of darkness in the world is bad because too much darkness changes the environment and overwhelms the beings of light within. Darkness doesn’t consume light to spite beings of light, its not a conscious entity; it’s just what it does Too much darkness is neither morally bad too, but it’s overwhelming presence is due to the ancestors’ reckless industrialization.

That lines up well with how i interpret it. Darkness wants stillness, to set everything to the perfect final state, then freeze it, preserve the order. It stores memories so that the past may never be forgotten.
Light meanwhile is about rebirth and change, skykids are born with no memories or knowledge of the past since that's not relevant to the Light to building a new world. But it is, which requires the Darkness.

It’s better for them to embrace that they’re in this liminal space between pure darkness and pure light rather than try to give themselves up to either extremes.

The way I see it the source of darkness came from the crystal/shard but to say that darkness is to preserve everything in stillness? Not far from the way I see it in the vault of knowledge they use crystals to store knowledge or as a power cores (I don’t see any books to suggest they haven’t used crystal for storing knowledge unless there were it’s just all of it turned to dust but thats suggests also it has been thousands of years since the explosion explosion which I don’t want to that route ) and since the crystal/shard job was to to preserve knowledge using darkness to hold everything still is a bad idea

But YEAH there's another part only Alasdair got to see where I pointed out we were assuming the diamond wasn't always there, and proposed the theory it's the heart of the mountain that the light beam comes from; it's possible the ancestors tampered with it so much it shattered; it could have required to be sealed away by the elders so it doesn't threaten to destroy more, hence their presence.

I'm waiting for the poem to drop as well but imo the thing above the crystal could be a shard of darkness or debris from the floating castle, hence the iconic shape.

It would be tragically poetic if the piece of a monument to their kingdom, a testament of their hubris, is what tipped the very fragile balance.

We know they got darkstone from mining (TLM cave in Forest, Treasure Reef in Wasteland) and looked for more places to mine (Refusing Voyager memory, Blushing Prospector's name), some of which could have been too sacred to do so (like under the Isle temple).

It's possible one of the tipping points of the civilization's fall was disregarding the sanctity of the mountain from which every light being ascends and mining here...

This could also explain the Vault's presence, unused tunnels could become corridors and libraries.

Since elders can ascend spirits directly, they could have attempted to seal the diamond, have 5 of them hold the seal in place while Dawn goes back to ascending beings themselves to buy the ancestors time to figure out what to do or run the second part of the plan (perhaps try to purge darkness themselves?).

Oooooooo h I like this idea… due to the position & size of vault I assumed for a while it was what the Eden beam left behind, but that wouldn’t make sense as to why it’s not still filled with it given we can still pretty obviously see the beam in question. I love your heart of the mountain idea as for where the dark stone came from in the first place due to it being so huge.

Since it’s in Eden at all I wonder if darkstone has like, a sacred tie to light for being able to hold and use it & that’s why it’s present in the holy mountain and also some is able to be found in Isle, especially Dawn’s mask, it just becomes a problem when you kill to charge it

Didn't Vela (I apologise profusely if this is wrong ) pitch the theory that winged lights appear when sky kids frequent a place a lot? All of the winged light in the season's memories so far were in the default pose, and the only other time we see winged light in a different pose is in the corridor before PNR, where they all sit.

If we're going off of the "Shattering Guide is Eden Diamond" theory (which is probably correct given this memory), maybe that wl is a physical manifestation of us from the diamond (with the whole memory storing thing of darkstone). I guess the only question is why?

As per my last message, winged light may manifest from many skykids passing through the same area (I headcanon at least eight) but the pose may be determined by the emotional potency skykids feel in the area. Skykids viewing this frozen memory of the Eden diamond exploding and the Elders they’ve likely grown close to being blown at the mercy of a shockwave, would feel hopeless, desolate, in awe of the destruction and futility in this scene. The winged light that manifests from them may embrace each other to represent how the skids rely on each other for support during such a difficult moment.

like. it is not that hard to draw dark skinned characters, especially if you don’t even have to learn any different facial features like in Sky. it’s the easiest possinle method. you just take the coloring layer for the skin/shell, you pick a dark brown color, you color it with that vs peach. Based on the final quest of the season of shattering. Dawn Elder, Forest Elder, Valley Elders, and Vault Elders went to stop or slow down the Red Crystal thingy. Because Dawn, Vault and Valley had their masks being torn apart, and Forest must have some extra protection, maybe because she is a blacksmith, idk. Daylight and Wasteland was holding down the fort in their own way. Based on the fact they were not there.

considering a lot of us view Alef/Resh as two separate people or one person in different stages i think that WL represents that, whatever happening during the cataclysm being the two halves reuniting before being split apart again (fissure?) or something else happening to cause them to become winged light or leave something that takes the form of it

I do also find it suuuuper interesting that, even though the rest of the elders r all low poly anyways, Lamed (vault) just looks... entirely broken, what with the mask and their hands being practically detached from them and their form having barely any structure

This last one ended up strange but contains the entire mask. The image is rotated. I’m standing on a torch that’s planted just to the 10 o’clock position from the central eye of the mask.

It’s in concept, but it seems the king themself never appears in game aside from some minute symbols that may or may not hold the same connotation from concept development

My head-canon is that the great door at Eden castle formerly featured another central King mask statue which is either gone or shrouded by the heavy cloud. In the previous version of Eden, there was even a small, normal king head statue like we see in Wasteland, to be found on the side of the great door that is less cloudy. You can make it out in the full picture too. I suppose that the structure on the right side of the close-up is the pedestal for this hypothetical central King mask statue.

The text when you start the quest is (2nd image), implying that the skater did fulfill the dream because of the Re- prefix.

At least in BETA, the word used is "experienced" (1st image) so it really was experiencing it, not witnessing it.

I wonder, is the skater aware of our existence when this happens, or are we just playing with their static memories?

Also, it says "The Spirit recalls the coliseum." So the Season of Dreams might still be about the Guide recalling the dream, as I now think.
