tbh i'm still working on formulating a cohesive idea of how the void(s) work and where they exist if they have a physical existence at all, so i'm very wobbly on what i think rn, especially when it comes to incorporating the new memory

I like this interpretation! Like it’s what you see when you have no light but aren’t completely wiped out for whatever reason, either. Most times if given flame you can break out of it but… due to the circumstances of the Eden diamond, that’s not true for it.

like I totally get the possibility that the memories we see from the Void of Shattering may be from within the diamond itself – the poems kinda imply that the light creatures, at least, were lured into the diamond to construct it. the krill and Elders may have been subsumed into the diamond when it exploded or went haywire. in doing so, they have been trapped by darkness, which creates the void or rather the frozen memories of the Void of Shattering.

I have a gripe that we meditate at the Void of Shattering to enter these places. been asking this for a while: what is the Void of Shattering? what is the entity in it of itself? why does meditating in front of it take us to its space at Home and the frozen memories after clearing away shards?

Alef is a name from concept development used for the prince. even the concept of the prince was vague on what they were and we still are not sure who Alef is and how they have manifested in live game, if at all

My answer to the same question is that it’s the same mechanic as to how we meditate to reach the elders, just for a different memory point in the diamond!

As to how that works or how the void appears after clearing away shards… don’t worry about it [/j]. Gameplay ease I would guess

The way I see it is that the Eden crystal contains memories, then it’s shards fall to the ground we can access said memories. In that way it’s not all that different from reliving a spirit, and I think meditating at these shards actually allows us to go into the shards, that’s where these voids are. I don’t think the Elders were sucked into the crystal because it would seem weird that we still meet them when we meditate in their realms if that were the case.

I’m curious on who the void of shattering is myself. I mean, all the other seasonal guides have been real spirits with personal stories. It’s pretty mysterious

I don't want to say the voids are not real, like they're mental spaces or something. they just are what you see when encased by darkness. perhaps they are mental spaces, but they still have a degree of tangibility to them. perhaps they exist on another plane of existence, one that is more adjacent to darkness, hence being physically moved by them. the Void of Shattering acts as a guide to points in this darkness realm.

Clearing away the shards, at least in my interpretation, is like you're clearing out the doorway that's blocked by darkness.
Meditation spots to me are like branches of the light, something that connects to a greater, collective force. The eden eruptions may have clogged the branches and severed the connection. (ngl i'm reminded of the irminsal tree where everything that happened is recorded by the branches which connects to the tree). When we cleared the darkness, we basically save the branch and it takes us to a memory that it has recorded over the years.
But maybe there's a side effect to the darkness that has tainted the light 'branches', a shift when we sat down and meditated, which caused us to go to the void of shattering instead of wherever the light meant us to go

What is the Void of Shattering? The entity itself may be the consciousness (artificial or natural up to debate) of the red diamond, what are your thoughts on it?

What is the Entity? It is called the Void of Shattering so I assume it is the Void itself taken sentience/consciousness

Why does meditating in front of it takes us to its space? I like to think that as we meditate we synchronize with this entity and sends us into the Void... Be it only mentally or even physically (if physically it may have used means more gentler or less harmful than the crude method of.. ig Ill call it subsumation

My current guess as to how we can meditate to see the elders is that, since their statues & temples have such a strong connection to their light — the strongest connection to that specific elder in the world — it’s like a thread we can grab onto by meditating and tug to find them.

Yeah it makes sense that if creatures were used to create the crystal we see their memories. But since the Elders are outside the crystal, I’m not sure the Elder memory is actually from the Elders since they weren’t subsumed.

…which would leave…Resh as the only other one there who could’ve had those memories

reminds me of the thought (I think it was mine but idk) that when we clear the shards and release the light trapped within, the Void of Shattering shows only a memory of what had been in the shard, not what was in the shard itself. hence the gathering scattered lights after the shard pops converging into a crab, jellyfish, or manta.

this would mean there are more frozen memories in-universe that we may not see in game due to limitations, like different flocks of mantas and jellyfish or even different creatures within all together.

That’s a possibility too, if the shard was made of sentient creatures it may simply be the shard’s memory. Like, the actual shard. I mean the void of shattering guide seems partially sentient, why not the big one?

I like to think the temple cutscenes are the Elders stuck in their pocket dimensions, not strong enough to leave. I think of the Elders as interdimensional travelers since they can journey up to Orbit and presumably could come back down to the world. just whatever the Eden calamity has done to them severed their connection to the world or limited it to their pocket dimensions. as Zhii/Ran just said, the temple cutscenes occur in a similar setting as the void.

I think it’s less memories and more like, they can choose to move around and all. I mean they are basically god adjacent and have a lot of light, it’s not hard to go “ok they’re different” [although, there is a possibility that the other creatures we see in memories are also in voids and doing similar stuff]

But yeah, with all that guilt, the realm theory, and etc it probably wouldn’t be great, to say the least :(

perhaps the Elders, confronting the Eden diamond and seeing it ready to blow, tried to flee by whatever mechanism they utilize for interdimensional travel, knowing that running on foot would be too slow. but even that was too slow and it the diamond caught some of the Elders as they split between one plane to another. the bits of the Elders that escaped became the temple Elders while the bits of Elders that didn't get out and got caught in the blast became the diamond Elders. it's like their tunnel collapsed as they were halfway out, burying some of them but not all, splitting them. the diamond Elders were petrified and the temple Elders, somewhat apart from darkness, are the animate ones we interact with. temple Elders are also able to ascend to Orbit, but the diamond Elders remain stuck

They don't appear to be actively looking for a way out since they could've been stuck there for eons, halpless and can only watch their realms deteriorate and how the sky kids perish in the storm, no matter how many times they tried, the sky kids just couldn't end this bleak cycle

I know I'm not the only one who's been tinkering with the concept of skykids hit by shards receiving the memories within the shards, messing with their inner light and changing their minds subtly. I have an OC who gained manta memories when hit by a shard. I took it a step further and hit another OC with a shard, granting them Elder memories. these would be memories of a diamond Elder that the temple Elders would not be able to recall...

I headcanon that darkstones, when used in weapons and connected to like these circuit lines on the blade would siphon light from the users and supercharge it! Sort of like the eden crystal but more toned down, but it still packs a punch
I think the ancestors could possibly use it since they too have this diamond thing on their chest and are beings of light

Of course, now comes the side effects: Dark stone itself, when kept in close proximity or is exposed to your own light, it slowly corrupts you.
You might start losing your 'human' instincts, and are driven to be more beast-like
The changes can also be physical: Sharp teef, sort of a clawed hands, the dark shards protruding from your skin... the side effects are different for everyone
hence why i also hc slouching soldier have sharp teeth lol

My take is that anything can charge darkstone, including our inner light if we meditate! Hence why we meditate to move and start boats. This is also true for ancestors hence why some of them have masks with them. They can also be used as light batteries (like extra to draw from once your own are drained. This is why I think the abyss crew has them)

Now for what you use them for, you basically connect parts of your light into the crystal and can then levitate/move it/etc , which leads to cool stuff like telekinesis swords :}

What I got from here-
Most likely a realm loosing its light- either eden or wasteland. Possibly some jellies evacuating-migrating, similar to the animals migrating away in the lorax.

As from this, I see the darkness, small at first, starting to fall in. Slowly corrupting some of the land of sky- as we know as the darkness.
I think it was noticed a bit at this point by the spirits that somethings happening, and it isn't good, considering crabs were most likely not existent in sky til this point.

As I see from this, a possibility from wasteland or eden once again, and more light creatures trying to get away from whatever's making a threat.
It could be either the dragons/krill attacking and/or rocks falling, concidering it talks about stone here. (Honestly though, concidering its about eden, I think its edens downfall instead of wastelands downfall)

And here come the dragons, from what, I'm not too sure.
Concidering its a magic world however, with skids absorbing light as fuel and not needing to eat/being able to fly, and spirits interacting with skids nowadays, I feel like a dark spell was used to make the dragons exist.
I used to think they were somewhat corrupted back then due to their calls used to be light, but concidering they changed it to red, I don't think that's the case, and they were just made from a spell itself.
However, I think this is where it really started to get bad, concidering dragons can oneshot players from even high light amounts to 0 in an instant.

Higher being, concidering besides us talking, skids aren't really prone- or maybe they have another language they speak. (though honestly, I dont think skids canonically talk due to the spirits and skids in cuteness not talking, but rather moving via their bodies. I guess we won't really know.

Honestly, I think this is why we don't see whales as often, it could be many of them were possibly trapped/killed off in the corruption event, with the fact there are really only 3 seen.

And it’s a lil different with elders, see I hc Resh is a giant mech suit that Alef controls cuz the other elders thought they were “too weak” and needed to look strong for the kingdom.

Anyways, in the beginning I see it as elders that were exposed to dark stone have a resistance to it because of different biology to spirits/skykids, and maybe that’s why Daleths mask is broken, because there’s no dark stone in Isle, so when they were exposed to it in the eden blast, they couldn’t recover till skykids came along. They don’t loose light liek skykids do but they do become weak, but then again they can build resistance.

This is very headcannon heavy Going back to Resh, I also see them as the first skykid, but like a prototype of skykids with a mix of elder biology (think of megabird testing it out what skykids will even be, hence Resh being a prototype).
But Because they’re surround with dark stone for so long, their biology changed (elder biology is a weird thing in my hc but the short anwser is that elders have a “true form”. Stars irl are made of gasses and move around a lot me an elders body can shapeshift, but it can also body horror description CW ||shift into like an unrecognizable mass of eyes, limbs, wings ect,|| I have a decent amount of art showing this). Resh’s skykid biology made them deteriorate over time while their elder biology just kept them alive but slowly curroupted to become one with the dark stone if that makes sence😭

TLDR: elders can build a resistance to dark stone but can also slowly physically curroupt if surrounded by it like for most hours of the day, which can lead to some nasty body horror stuff💀

Resh's form being a mass of ||eyes, limbs, and wings|| sounds interesting... If the ancestors were exposed to dark stones for as long as Resh was... would they also gain just eyes all over their body or would their body deteriorate into that mesh, or just simply crumble? (Feeling evil rn )

Overall, I honestly think this just represents how skys downfall began LONG before skids arrived to try and sort the mess, as well as the fact that in the cutsceens,some of the elders are fragile-like and/or are just waking up from a long nap. (Aka per such as isles elder's mask being broken or forest's diamond being broken, as well as the fact that with the others, we light all of them up, as you do when a skids covered in the darkness.
Though honestly, I also understand why the item was a heart as well, instead of an item to purchace with candles (Besides the fact a TS was coming to suck away our candles anyway)

And honestly, the season wasn't much as a reward, but rather, it was more of a lore standpoint- instead of being all sweet and cherry, well, this season basically brought eden to all the realms (not including isle and eden)
Overall, though, I think they just wanted to get some lore out, and then some darkness stuff, rather then other things, because I saw alot of controversy on this season with it being dark n all that, plus the fact a good amount of skids, even some elder ones, skipping out on it-

Alright here’s my giant Resh theory:

From the poems we know a spirit was broken apart when the Eden diamond shattered (“a spirit sundered in the break”). Since all the Elders seem (mostly) intact and only Resh’s mask was there, it follows Resh was the one shattered into many, many pieces. Our mission is to return the spirits to the stars. These are the normal spirits, but also the Eden elders. Now there is some debate on what the pieces of Resh are, with the winglight being the most obvious choice. But what if it’s something a bit more? When we give our lights to the statues in Eden, they also become Sky children and fly up to Orbit, with the rest of the spirits. The children then wave goodbye and disappear into the stars. What if these children are Resh? Like, pieces of Resh? It would make sense then that we were called to save them and that’s why we journeyed to Eden. We can’t save Resh as in reform him, but we can save the pieces of him that were scattered. Resh being able to be reborn in this way also makes sense since he’s the first skykid. This also would make sense because underneath his mask in the memory, the winglight looks like the hugging skykids in Eden. Of course, this also means, that since we turn into the statues as well as see the hugging kids in Eden, we are also Resh. Every skykid is Resh, or at least a piece of him. It’s no wonder we can’t “save” him when he’s literally every player in the game.

TLDR: everyone is Resh

Edit: Some extra points of support I wanted to add. When we call and our inner light shows us the path, the symbol looks like Resh’s mask. Our past life remembers what to do. Also, the season of prophecy symbol looks like Resh’s mask, indicating that Resh ran all the trials (probably the only one to do so since they became king and their legend was painted on the walls). The trials seem like a big deal in the Sky kingdom, used to crown a king. It makes sense that only the king could complete them, or what’s left of him (us)

Yeah that’s been bothering me too. We know it had a shockwave, we can see it in the shattering memory pretty well, and it probably did blow off some rocks like what alasdair mentioned, and also there’s no way it didn’t mess up the Vault. But between the storm, mass petrification, and whatever other theorized effects there were, my interpretation is that the explosion itself wasn’t that powerful. The other, more insidious effects of it were what killed everything, along with the fact that the elders were dead

My rudimentary understanding:
Eden explodes and rains red shards
Cleansing the darkness cleanses the gateway to the memory that’s within the shard itself
The void of shattering is somewhat inter-dimensional; elders have their pocket spaces but are locked in there and cannot leave (unless orbit)
There’s still a lot of question regarding how the void works so… keep an eye out for it
Some ideas:

• void might be sentient
• could be inter dimensional
• it is a product of the red crystal exploding
  Speaking of Eden crystal:
• overcharged with light and exploded, ‘killing’ the elders by sending them to pocket space while the normal spirits are put into a comatose yet conscious state (they cannot experience anything but are aware of it)

I think 3D mesh building is a specialty skill for their team and that they tend to use existing meshes whenever possible. These are probably the same ones from the old beta which may have been overly compressed, messing up the masks and faces. That’s my guess at the reason.

The glitch is usually done with a friend, your friend has to sit in the meditation circle and when they enter the cutscene you warp to them, then when your friend finishes watching the cutscene they can warp back to you to join you in the oob

Vault cutscene oob can be done solo, just need to skip the cutscene, then chibi fall and fly to the block below and stand on a prop then chibi fall through to find all the elders there

I'm new to the lore bandwagon so there's a lot I don't know however lore is one of the things I love the most about games is their lore. Do I wanted to share some theories that I want yall to either shoot down or expand upon.

1. In the world of sky energy=light=memory. I made this theory on the fact that we never really see anyone using the items stored in the vault of knowledge and we know that these items are powered by power diamonds. The vault itself is crumbling due to trauma brought by the catastrophic event causing the eye of Eden. Light has been drained from light creatures to power the diamonds. Ghost Mantas are only present within the vault and carry characteristics of regular spirits such as transparency. I believe that these mantas are released memories from broken diamonds in the vault. The other spirits are also memories released in a similar fashion within their respective realms hence why we relive the spirits memories and sometimes collecting pieces of light in order to relive said memories.
2. The king krill is more than one organism. We do not see any other creatures the same size as the king krill and I know there is a theory that krills are dark husks left behind by light creatures drained of their light. The king krill as a large amount of eyes as opposed by other dark creatures, I believe that a mass amount of light was drained from a large group of light creatures that were not Isolated from each other the creatures cells(or whatever) tried to regain their light(like osmosis but with light) and in doing so caused the creatures to merge together wilst being draiuof light creating the king krill.
3. This one is more of a joke but it is fun to think about. What if the inhabitants of sky left the planet due to the disaster and sent the skykids to retrieve lost information. The sky kids are robots hence their different reactions to losing light but because of my previous theory that energy=light=memory the skykids use light as a power source...

... so the skykids have memories hence why they are able to be reborn due to having somewhat of a life despite not living

Another theory I forgot to add is inspired by a book series I read called the erth dragons. This theory is that power diamonds are the remains of dead light creatures hence why they long for light and why they are related to the crystal shards and how they share the same colours as the krill spotlight

Also I think the "snow" in valley is actually ash

•The impact of this action was so severe it upsets the balance of nature and left most creatures homeless.

•Because some of the Light creatures were big enough to fight back, they revolted against the ancestors and caused a huge war.

•Because of this, some of the light creatures were kidnapped and drained of their own light.

If we're going to refer to the past memories that we've seen in season of Shattering, this is probably what the memories have been telling us. The Mantas, jellyfishes and other creatures seems to have been running away from something, and that something is THE Ancestors
