my headcanon is that as a child the Forest Elder was given materials to build and create with and wasn't aware of where they came from. they sort of became the poster child of the industrial revolution and didn't realize until they got older what a toll that was taking on the environment, but by then the people had come to rely on the technology and so Forest Elder felt like it was too late to stop it. so they're not malicious, but jaded and trapped in something they helped create

There’s a pretty common theory (I believe it as well) that they were excluded from the other elders, due to not agreeing with the darkstone/refinery practices (I can explain this if you wish!)

Alright so.

Darkstone are those bluish crystals you find around the realms. You hold your candle up to them and activate them, typically to open doors. You can find chunks of the unrefined stuff scattered around the underwater part of treasure reef.

Refineries are places where the unrefined stuff was turned into the diamond shape you see everywhere and then charged with light. Examples of this are the forest temple, the second area of wasteland and probably treasure reef. Unfortunately the method used to charge them with light so that they could function (hence why our candles turn them on) involves stealing light from light creatures like mantas, leading to extremely Not Great things, hence why isle didn’t like it

skykids may wear masks to mimic the ancestors wearing masks. Why ancestors wear masks isn’t clear, seems to be a cultural thing. Personally i don’t think the ancestors’ cultural reasons passed over to skykids — it’s just fashion to them.

We do know, thanks to Ash, that animal masks corfelate to types of jobs to the ancestors. Also that the Performance spirits crafted their own masks inspired by Performance guide.

as Alasdair said, the culture of masks could also be different between ancestors and skykids, so there could be symbolism for your character of choosing to model their mask off something that reflects their reaction to their trauma (example, if they felt unable to keep themself safe, they might use a stone turtle or armadillo mask, or if they felt victimized they might choose a predator)

You go to Eden, the one place you've been lead to this whole journey, you make it through, d i e, and finally move on to the afterlife.
Except you don't. You reincarnate, over and over and over. Stupid.

my belief is that the cycle of rebirth isn't actually natural to skykids. i think if the whole Eden crisis wasn't a thing, skykids could live and grow and create whole societies just like the Ancestors did, only we keep dying before we can get there. and i think without Megabird's intervention we would petrify in Eden until someone came along and released us like we do for the ancestors, and then we'd ascend like they do. i think the cycle as we experience it is to some extent artificial, because as far as Megabird is concerned we still have more work to do

reborn skykids maintain the same appearance as they did when they died, we keep all our progress when reborn, so I don't believe skykids have been reset and have to start all over. if anything, their ascension and rebirth frees them from the permanancy of death in Eden, preventing them from being able to do more.

likewise, I think skykids ascend other skykids – giving their winged light to their petrified kin in stormlock, allowing them to ascend. when you die and petrify, another skykid likely had to sacrifice themself, give up their own winged light, to ascend you

you're probably referring to this piece of concept art by Tom Zhao. see on the left, light creatures who die an unnatural death are said to leave behind bones made of charcoal. now whether that is still true in Live is up for debate, but we do see bones in Forest boneyard, Wasteland graveyard, and Vault fifth floor.

according to this concept art, light creatures are supposed to ascend and be reborn too. in fact, you can see some during ascension post-stormlock – mantas, jellyfish, even a whale. there's also that river of birds Salem mentioned

I believe the creatures' cycle of rebirth seen in that concept is still canon. I mean, we do see creatures ascending with us and we also see the bones of creatures who are implied to have had an unnatural death

As for ancestors, I have doubts about them being Light beings like Skykids, to me it seems like Skids (and Elders before the darkstone thing) might actually be pure Light creatures while ancestors aren't exactly, and that's why ancestors can't exactly be fully reborn

well ancestors certainly have light given that when they die, they manifest as spirits. as for their living bodies' light-to-material ratio is debatable as well as whatever material their living bodies were made out of. did they have biological flesh like irl humans? were they more like skykids akin to Vela's lanternfolk headcanon? don't know and idk if we'll ever know for sure since all the ancestors are dead.

though unlike most light creatures, they did have bodies that could be buried given the gravestones we see in the beginning of the realms and in the Vault by Praying Acolyte. so they died and left behind material bodies, presumably materializing as spirits of pure light that could ascend

but why wouldn't light creatures, if they leave corpses under whatever circumstances, not manifest their spirits like ancestors do and ascend Eden in that state? while, yea, the cosmic manta by SLS does appear from bones, we sorta "call" it after lighting candles around it. we summon it, so perhaps it got stuck in some sort of limbo (likewise we free the Memory Whisperer spirit by summoning that cosmic manta). and if these cosmic forms were meant for ascension, why are they still in the Vault?

blue light, artificial and natural, is associated with water. it grants the user the ability to control water to some degree. while spirits are also blue, it's moreso happenstance. their spiritual forms are blue but not associated with blue light.

it's debatable where that spirit manta came from. it first appears by meditating in front of whale tail statue in the first cave, wherein it dematerializes to grant us the diving ability. personally I doubt that spirit manta was sent by Megabird Themself.

I've always regarded it as a sort of guardian of the Treasure Reef or a physical manifestation of the sea. by meditating in front of the whale tail statues, we connect with it in some way. there are three of those same statues in Sanctuary Islands, which is a light creature haven.

I've also been thinking of Vela's headcanon that season guides were the first to die and buried of their group, thus bound to help whoever else died and is buried there to move onto the afterlife. given the Treasure Reef facility is where mantas were experimented on and presumably killed for power diamonds, what if that spirit manta was the first light creature to die there thus tasks us to help it shepherd its fellow light creatures to the afterlife, to ascension? see, the the trapped mantas we free in Abyss quest 3.

The ark in Sky has a bit of history (some of which I am not able to recall off the top of my head, sadly).
The white light might represent the Light (though that is a headcanon).

Seeing it is the guide and the ark can represent a vessel, coupled with boats in Sky represent the journey. I would hypothesize on the light being the spirit's own energy.

(I saw Vela's answer after typing this, and can see how that can also be a likely case, especially with considering sky heart trades are consistently shown to have white light).

I also picture certain behavior between mantas themselves!
A gentle nudge is for attention. Either for love from a partner or confusion about another mantas signals
A bump, slightly harder, is a ‘get out of my way’ or something similar to a bunny thumping out of sass
They’ll twirl and show off their pretty golden markings to potential mates to try and get them to look at the gleam of their feathers
Although they have no dance like exotic birds, mantas like to do elaborate flight paths to show off to each other
It’s also why they’re great for races. They can do a multitude of flips, barrel rolls, loops, etc.

Tail wacks aren’t common but are usually a big sign of aggression or a reactive manta
Certain calls can also signal a hostile warning, especially if it’s more huffy than clear

Mantas that flew into places they could typically leave easily (abyss, forest temple, valley races) would definitely be more confused than thankful
They wouldn’t understand someone purposefully freed them because they never realized they got trapped to begin with
They’d be hesitant to leave, especially now that things look different but it’s also for the best they finally can separate from the mantas they were trapped with (I can elaborate more on these guys depending on the area-)

As for mantas in forest, prairie and other areas
The ones in darkness understand their predicament and will dote and fawn over their new best friend. The skid will get manta licks and sniffs as close as possible, they’ll follow the skid around after reuniting with some other friends and grabbing a snack. The skid will get frequent visits from their manta Friend and it would be more than happy to be a new tamed pet
In prairie and areas they show up on their own from bell or chime calls, they’re interested in the noise and very curious about who or what the skids are and why they aren’t the usual ones ringing the call. They don’t mind, but they must know everything about them now

the first result was Sun, named due to the fact shes like the sun itself because shes so bright, but she was created by another sky kid, my friends character Illumin

She looked away. Kita’s eyes landed on a ghostly figure. The one who clapped when she had woken up. They were now attending to a fire. Warm flames flickered and sparked, rose and fell. Drawn to it, Kita approached the fire and the spirit. The spirit did not seem to recognize her prescience. They were busy tending to the flames. Kita noticed something among the fire; little tiny spheres that were covered with a thin layer of wrapping. Kita sensed something within it.
One of the spheres was soon under her eyes. Kita looked up. The spirit was looking intently at her, offering her one of the snacks. Kita accepted their offer and took her candle out. The sphere and the candle connected, and the encasing was burned away, revealing many particles of light. Kita was esctatic. What a delicious meal!
The spirit clapped their hands again, happy that Kita was satisfied. With new rigor, they turned to the fire once more. They seemed intent on making even more of the spheres of light. Kita giggled, and left the spirit to confront Elliott again.
But he was gone without a trace. Kita snorted. Good riddance. She didn’t ever want to see Elliott again. He didn’t deserve her presence. He didn’t deserve anyones presence. He didn’t deserve anyone.
Kita never left the spirit’s side. Instead, they took her under their wing. They taught her how to use a bonfire, taught her how to cook. Kita loved every day with them. She would welcome travelers and lost skykids into their home, just how the spirit did for her long ago.

Other mantas are very curious about the wooly manta since they’ve never seen a fluffy manta like that.
None ever get aggressive about it since they mostly like to nudge and sniff them befriend
Wooly manta has no problems with mantas since it doesn’t realize it’s fluffy
Its very important no one lets wooly mantas fluffy self get matted because it will cause pain which causes behavioral problems like lashing out or nipping when pet and the mattes get pulled
They like brushing, it feels nice, so it won’t be an issue trying to keep tangled out unless they get into bristles
It’s best wooly manta is kept to a minimum of fluff unless it’s braided or in a style that can protect it from the wool getting pulled or put in pain

Eden was once the grand capital of the Kingdom. After uniting the land, the Goddess of the Stars, Megabird, appointed six influential people to serve as the realm’s respective Elder. She then appointed a man named Raecir to serve as the Kingdom’s first Sovereign King, to serve and protect the Kingdom with his fellow Elders. His first order was for a magnificent city to be built to honor the Goddess and the people.

And so, Eden was constructed on the tallest mountain, Elysium. For centuries, it was the center of industrial and technological advancement and was considered a beacon of inspiration that could be seen from all over the Kingdom.

But this glorious Golden Age did not last. Darkness came and poisoned the heart of Raecir’s descendant, Resh.

He became cruel-hearted. He punished the guilty with no mercy, and death became a better alternative. The taxes became unbearing and the introduction of conscription was widely ill-received.

Resh sought after the forbidden Dark Alchemy hidden deep within the Vault of Knowledge, much to Elder Lamed’s unawareness. Using this cursed knowledge, he created the Dark Dragons to spread the seeds of Darkness and further poison the land.

The Dark Dragons attacked a civilian transport, a family pleasure barge en route to the Sanctuary Islands. Out of the entire crew and the family who owned it, there was only one survivor.

Many saw this as evidence of Resh's illegitimacy to the throne. A king who seeks to kill his own people for non-existent crimes is unfit to rule.

This marks the beginning of the long and harsh Civil War.

The military was essentially split into two. Those who rallied under the Elders' command and those still loyal to the throne, mainly the Royal Elysium Guard, later known as the Dark Riders. Throughout the war, the two sides quarreled within the Golden Plains. Both sides reported casualties in the hundred-thousands, not counting civilian lives.

Queen Narxi, beloved by the people for her beauty and kind heart, saw the path her husband was taking. Fearing the worst, she took their newborn son, Alef, and fled to the protection of her older sister, Elder Adrah of the Valley of Triumph.

Throughout the War, the two sisters, as well as the other Elders, taught and prepared the young Prince to retake the throne and undo what his father had done

pt 5

During the War, the Tyrant feared that the Elders were coming to kill him. So he created the beginning of a powerful Dark Diamond designed to steal the light within. To power it, he stole the souls and light of the citizens trapped within Eden’s walls. The world would remain ignorant of such loss of life until the end of the War.

Three months before the end of the War, the Queen had returned to Megabird’s wings, losing the battle against sickness. That night, Dark Riders snuck into the Temple and took the Prince away.

The year prior, Elder Adrah had given her life protecting the young Prince from an assassin, leaving her two children, Sah and Mekh, to take up the mantle. The two were a formidable team, having been personally and ruthlessly trained under Elder Tsadi and Elder Teth. They did not coddle the Twins. Sahmekh were fiercely protective of the little Prince and would gladly lay their lives for him.

When it was known he was missing, the Twin Elders were furious.

The Elders Tsadi, Teth, and Sahmekh gathered their forces and prepared for a siege unlike the world has ever seen. The Siege of Eden was the largest military operation in history, with the sole purpose of killing the Tyrant and freeing Eden once and for all.
What they were met with was unlike what anyone had expected. What was once the famed City of the Stars was reduced to ash and carnage. Dark Dragons patrolled the skies. Rocks rained from the heavens. Light-stealing crystals festered and grew.

What’s worse was what had happened to the citizens.

Gone was the individuality and brightness that resonated within each one, leaving them something akin to corrupted zombies. No longer could they think for themselves, blindly following any orders the Dark Riders and the Tyrant issued.

The ensuing battle was long and brutal, with casualties numbering in the thousands. The Condemned tore through the force, despite being severely outnumbered.

A small task force was dispatched to rescue the Prince while the Condemned were distracted. This ended up being in vain.

The light of the Prince was all that the Dark Diamond needed to be complete. By the time the task force arrived, it was already too late, the ritual was complete.

In a surge of blinding light, the Dark Diamond incinerated the Tyrant and transformed the 63 members of the task force, as well as the Condemned, into contorted statues.

The Dark Dragons went into a killing frenzy, killing anything that moved, including their own Riders

The Survivors fled to escape the initial shock wave, not without sacrifices.

Elder Lamed and her Archivists sealed all pathways to Elysium, the most notable being the “Gateway of Eden.”

Within the barriers, the remaining Dark Alchemy condensed and formed into a perpetual storm known as “the Eye of Eden.”

All are warned to never attempt to break the barrier keeping the Storm at bay.

Doing so could result in the total destruction of the world as we know it.

They do have some verbal aspects.

The other one is considered a ‘’deep call’’ and it’s a “you have to experience it to understand it” situation.

Older Skykids can better communicate with others by mimicking the other languages. and they mimic them so well, they may as well be fluent

A red ribbon necklace is sort of like the Children of the Light’s version of a proposal/wedding ring. The couple will customize and adorn the ribbon with special baubles and embroidery to be presented to their partner during the official ceremony. See "Life Partners" for more information

Guardians are essentially the parental roles of the Children of the Light

Like Spirits and Elders, the Skykids measure their age in years as well as how much experience they have.

Newborns
less than a year old (0-1 stars).
They are raised by Newborn Caretakers and anyone else that pitches in.
They are incredibly fragile. Their skin has not yet hardened to withstand the fickle nature of the winds. Since their skin is so thin, they need constant warmth to survive, preferably skin-to-skin contact.
Newborns are, well, newborns. They cannot fend for themselves. They depend on their Caretakers to protect and care for them as needed.

Fledglings
about one to two years old (1-2 stars).
At this age, they start to walk, run, communicate, etc.
They also have been given their first cloak and are learning to at least glide in the Isle of Dawn or the Daylight Prairie.

Moths
are two to five years old (2-5 stars).
This is the age where they leave their caretakers in hopes to find their “guardian”.

Adolescents
are five to ten years old (5-10 stars).
By this time, they would have seen all the Kingdom has to offer.
But they are incredibly independent and no longer need a guardian.
On the eve of their tenth birthday, they undergo their ‘’coming of age” trial.

Veterans
Ten years and older (10 stars and up)
the most mature, or the “adults” of Skykids.
The way you can tell is that there is something off about them… as if part of their childishness was taken away.
Another way is their appearance: they have cosmetics that mimic the Spirits as well as the Ancestors and the Elders.
They often also have a Moth clinging to them.
They can not physically age further.

The Dark Crabs fall under this category as well though ultimately they do little damage, yet the younger the Skykid, the more susceptible they are to actually get seriously hurt by them.

The rain in the Hidden Forest can severely harm them if they stay out for too long

Meet Futihoxli

Her Guardian abandoned her in te Golden Wasteland, leaving her sorely unprepared in the face of danger resulting in some nasty PTSD episodes

Her cape was ripped beyond repair whilst in Eden and is bound to the ground as a result. She misses the feeling of the wind surrounding her from all sides.

Considered a “Master of Songs” due to her proficiency with instruments.

She’s shy and doesn’t often willingly interact with her people. This often confuses the other Skykids. The most she does is guide groups through the Golden Wasteland with Navarre doing most of the talking, speaking up every once in a while to explain something.

She met her life partner, Navarre when she was caught by a Krill. Nav saw and promptly swooped in to rescue her.
At first, she wanted nothing to do with Nav, having been solo since her abandonment. But the more she hung out with Nav, the more she warmed up to him, eventually accepting him as her life partner

Yes, broken temple resembles Forest Elder’s temple, but there’s a number of structures in Wasteland that resemble Valley’s architecture. We also see the diamond shadowed by two triangles symbols in both Wasteland and Valley.

There is also the quip from the 7 Days of Sky concepts wherein they speak of a “Golden Valley” that would be the downtown of the city. Perhaps that’s what the first area of Wasteland used to be.

Ruled by the Elder of Knowledge; Lamed

The Vault is situated a fair distance away from the action in the Golden Wasteland (but still kinda close) and currently serves as the Gateway of Eden.

The further you ascend, the more disconnected from reality it becomes; the walls eventually disappear, replaced by stars and constellations, and the rooms themselves seem to get bigger and bigger when they’re not.

The entrance branches off into various hallways leading to lodging accommodations

The first floor represents the Isle of Dawn via the various sand dunes and texts regarding its history.

    From here, you can access the Archives, where the oldest texts are stored. 

    You can also access the Cemetery, where the previous generations of Archivists are put to rest. 

    The Starlit Desert is a place where Astrologists and the like can safely do their studies.

The second floor represents the Daylight Prairie by modeling the architecture after the Villages

    Here, Archivists and Travelers can sit together and feast in a little room off to the side.

The third floor represents the Hidden Forest through crystalized trees and floating pagodas.

    This is where the surrealness starts to show itself

The fourth floor represents the Valley of Triumph by mini coliseums and waterfalls made of light (representing snow)

    Moths like to fly around with the spirit mantas here

The fifth floor represents the Golden Wastelands by the bones of a King Krill and Elder Spirit Manta.

The sixth floor is the final floor, where Lamed is often found on her throne

    Behind the throne is where she would access her quarters

The Summit is off-limits due to its close proximity to Elysium

    This serves as the Gate of Eden.

    Only the bravest of the brave may enter.

Ruled by the Elder of the Forest; Teth

The perimeter is guarded by a thick, dense fog, thus giving the realm its name

The Wind Paths are a vital component for trade and travel all over the Kingdom, connecting even the far reaches to each other.

Before the storms, the Clearing acted as a trading and repair dock for merchants though it was abandoned for alternative means.

The Treehouse is home to the Forest Scouts, a program that supports exploration and learning essential survival skills

The Brook is the main residence area with pagodas and tree houses made to withstand and provide shelter from sudden flash storms

The Elevated Clearing resides on the very edge of the Forest, rarely getting hit by storms. The Forest Scouts often do their exploration and camping badges here under Yiuha’s (Lady Belonging) supervision.

    The Underground Cavern is an interesting area. Archivists from the Vault classified this place as a ‘microbiome’ due to the flora and fauna there.

The Tree Tunnels are where most of the Forest residents come to do their jobs ranging from lumberjacking, hunting, lightmining, etc.

The Boneyard not only serves as various avian species’ nesting grounds but also serves as the Temple’s main courtyard with a bridge that stood the test of time leading to the main entrance.

The Pink Forest behind the Temple is a living memorial for those who lost their lives in the War. Every year, travelers from all around come to remember those who gave their lives during the Days of Bloom.

The Summer is considered the safest in terms of weather; allowing the Forest Scouts to reconvene.

The Spring is the most festive— travelers come from all over to celebrate the Days of Feast.

The Winter and Autumn bring in the Open Hunting Season and allow trade through the Wind Paths.

The Forge

    The entrance displays various creations from the Crafts Guild

    The right wings provide rooms for permanent residents as well as housing for any visitors

    The left wings lead to various forges used for creating weapons, gears, glass blowing, etc.

    The central wings are reserved for Teth and the other Elders

    The lake that surrounds the Temple is home to fully matured jellyfish that migrated from the Valley

If Golden Valley was the downtown of the city of Triumph, then like other downtowns of cities, it would’ve been the main business center. People would go there to work or, if they lived there, lived close to or above their businesses. So if broken temple was once a refinery, it makes sense that people would go down to what is now Wasteland to work there.

Likewise, there’s a lot of hints that Wasteland might’ve once hosted a port/harbor — bejng along the shoreline, the boats — so perhaps ancestors also went down to Golden Valley to work on ships or to sail. Some of those workers could’ve been shipped to the Treasure Reef facility to do experiments there.

Compared to the other realms, Valley of Triumph seems it would’ve had the most people as urban areas often do. Densely populated, buildings packed close together, lots of paved over constructions. Even years after the Eden calamity, the realm is still shining with decadence & luxury and really seems the most preserved. We also have these realm timelines of the emotional highs & lows the player is intended to feel while traversing the realms as well as the stages of civilization they represent. Valley is an emotional high and represents the peak of civilization — it is the brightest, most glorious, most technologically advanced area of the kingdom.

The Eden Storm produces a lot of clouds. Add to the fact that many new seasonal areas are revealed by receding clouds, I think the permanence of the pervasive clouds all over the world are a result of the Eden calamity and maintained by the Storm.

Well, given that much of the kingdom was seemingly built atop the clouds along with the significant importance of the windways in trade & commerce (which by it's nature necessitates the existence of atleast some kind predictable cloud formations that could be mapped to allow safe transit between the realms), I'd have to imagine there must have been atleast a little permanent cloudcover over the kingdom, but not the extent that exists currently. In my opinion one of the many reasons why the calamity at eden was so destructive was thanks impart to the fact that it turned what was once safe, stabile areas to build into volatile hellscapes filled with darkness as it's rapid expansion from the mountain blotted out the sun & provided the right conditions for/to produce invasive dark-creature species that could now hunt unimpeded pFIRE

in game, they're referred to as the singular – Elder of the Valley - but there's obviously two of them, so what's up? some thoughts:
a) they've always been two separate entities but considered equals so referred to as one.
b) they're one entity with two bodies.
c) they're a mini collectivist hivemind; they are two separate entities but can, at some point, lose their individuality and become one mind. However they cannot physically fuse.
d) the actual Elder of the Valley is no longer around (Valley priestess from concepts) so their heirs act as their replacement.
e) they were one entity who split at some point and the kingdom still refered to them as if they're one (implied by in-game foreshadowing). This is why they have one arm and one eye each, because the split wasn’t perfect.
I wrote a fic where they're in this liminal state between one and two entities despite having two bodies.

i obviously am not the server owner/creator/moderator or anything like that, but i do create a fair number of private servers, so maybe i could offer some insight?

when i'm organizing a server, there definitely is a logic to how i sort things, but i don't think of any channel as more important than other. i usually start by which channels i think the majority of the server would have the most interest in, so i'd put general chat at the top. then i want to encourage people to share their creative contributions, so i'd put channels for sharing art and writing and such. if it's a big enough server that i'm seeing general chat being flooded by a certain kind of content (screenshots, memes, requests, etc) then i'd make a channel for that specifically and list it next.

in my hypothetical server, lore chat would be somewhere in the 'creative contributions' or 'specific content' groups, and depending on how things work within the particular channel i might put it higher or lower. in this case, since it's a spoiler-heavy channel, i'd want to put it somewhere accessible, but where people who don't want spoilers are less likely to stumble in by accident.

the unfortunate nature of discord servers is that the channels are formatted as a list, and that means things have to be put in an order even when there are multiple things you'd rank equally. it's frustrating for sure, as much for the people behind the scenes as the people in the channels, but compromises have to be made somewhere :(

I gave my quip. you went off on an underrelated tangent about the location of the channel instead of adding to a potential discussion that had two other people waiting around. so now that lore-rich discussion is dead and buried for a convo about something that us regular users cannot do anything about.

yes, sometimes a singular message won't revive the channel. but sometimes it can. when there are other people, it suits lore discussion to talk about the lore topic or the singular question someone dropped rather than something that would be better said to the mods.

I have a Theory that related to the Desert, which is that after whatever went down in Eden, the Top of the Vault Tower was sucked on to Eden, hence why we see the Elder Table as we fly to Orbit. The Scholars sought to rebuild the tower and sought the power of memories, one that began by Vault's desire to undo the harm they did and introduce ghost mantas to the ecosystem along with the Bloom Trees. These experiments went down in the Starlit Desert, creating Buildings based on memories of different ancestors, originating troughout the realms. Seeing as their experiments became fruitful the Spirits rebuilt the Vault as a memory which is why the further we ascend, the less 'stone' we see. It's a little similar to yours.

So basically by manipulating light you could create new matter.

the Eden king aka Eden Elder aka the king, sometimes called Resh by the fandom, is a figure that's simultaneously is and isn't present in the Sky world. they were present in concept development as a big bad boss figure we'd fight but ultimately save in Eden, having been corrupted, but that's no longer the case. devs have said that they're still in the game just not in a way you'd expect, so speculation on them is vague.

supposedly they oversaw Eden as their realm. some think they were behind the Eden calamity that ruined everything. some think they were the same as the prince or Chosen One depicted in the Cave of Prophecy murals. Chosen One, after completing the 4 Trials, could've been crowned prince and ascended into being king (hence pre-skykid civilization being referred to as "the Sky kingdom"). they might've had attained powers from completing all four trials that could've factored into the Eden calamity. they might've oversaw or greenlit power diamond production, the manufacturing of with increased darkness into the world and left it as it is today (see: Wasteland).

it's easy to cast them as the villain, especially given their characterization in concept art, however they aren't here to defend themself. we don’t know who they were as a person or how to characterize them in Live canon. they could have tried to reverse the effects of darkness corruption but failed. the corrupted diamond in Eden could've been their gift to the kingdom, not a manifestation of their greed or a "kill-all" switch. see, the Eden mural where a figure with Chosen One's halo presents a giant diamond to a huge genuflecting crowd of ancestors.

i'm also just, thinking about the Vault scholars attempting to create/recreate/mess with life
i went over my cosmic manta headcanon yesterday, that they're the result of a failed attempt to manually ascend creatures that died an unnatural death (possibly to avoid the buildup of manta corpses now that they've started turning into krill)
but i haven't put as much thought into the TLP spirits - i know the general vibe here is that they're artificial in some way but i hadn't really thought about what that meant or why the ancestors were messing with it

I feel like the AI were an attempt at creating people with (albeit exaggerated) personalities. I feel like the scholars projected a specific emotion onto each of the AI so that when they were shown, they looked like real spirits (hence the cosmetics, hair, etc.) but lacked a 3 dimensional personality (the spirits were projected with at least 2-4 emotions in mind, not enough to create a believably human AI but enough to give it personality)

Of course, you could give a darker spin on it by saying that the AI were based off of/were once alive ancestors and that the scholars tried to give them some semblance of life again but that just highlighted how the spirits' strongest emotions were in life and so they act as caricatures of themselves.

Or maybe even the route of "here is/was a person, first adjective that pops into your mind and we'll put that into the AI" and so the spirits are all a projection of what the scholars thought the people were like and not how they actually were?

Assuming the Starlight Desert was once part of the golden wasteland, I have a theory that the TLP gang might once have been a ship's crew like Enchantment and Abyss crews, they got hit by the cataclysm and much like Enchantment crew they survived the shipwreck for a while, but unlike the other season crews, they didn't exactly remain optimistic and it took a toll on their mental health quickly leading to their eventual deaths.

My other theory is that they were exiles/fugitives (they did NOT escape from a mental asylum don't even mention that kind of theory) that had to escape the Kingdom's society due to having committed "sins" (for the lack of a better word) and because they not only got hit by the cataclysm but also they didn't get along well in the slightest they didn't last long, and whatever "sins" they committed are what manifests as their chains.

    Ruled by the Elder of the Wastelands; Tsadi

The Golden Wasteland was once called the Golden Plains before the War. Polluted lakes span miles and hidden refugee camps are scattered all around. Remnant Dark Riders are still a major threat.

The Treasure Reef is a mining and scouting colony rich in rare minerals and the like. It is heavily advised to avoid going too deep due to the Leviathan-class aquatic variants of the Krills.

The Broken Temple, once known as the Temple of Songs, serves as the main refugee camp. They stay on the outside of what used to be the wall surrounding the capital.

The Forgotten Ark is home to a traveling troupe that was coming home from the Valley. They got caught in a sandstorm, releasing their steeds and essentially grounding them there. The troupe decided to roll with it.

On the other side of the wall, Krills, designed to locate and destroy anything with light, patrol the destroyed capital, now more suitably called “the Graveyard.” The surrounding walls are enchanted to keep the Krills from leaving.

The Crab Fields serve as a memorial and a reminder of the attack that kickstarted the Civil War. The shipwreck was a family pleasure barge en route to the Sanctuary Islands. The ship never made it out of the city limits. There was only one survivor.

The Battlefield that surrounds the Temple is an inactive military zone. But still very dangerous. The military stationed there work around the clock to make sure that the Temple and the esteemed Vault are not breached.

The Temple

    The entrance is lined with candles symbolizing all who gave their lives.

    The right wings are reserved for various military operations.

    The left wings are reserved for refugee needs and relief efforts

    The central wings are reserved for the Elders.

    Serves as the HQ for all military operations

The epicenter of the city-state is nestled within a mountain range. Permafrost and snow banks are present year-round and is known as the City of the Arts.

The Village of Dreams offers housing and activities for both permanent residents and travelers from afar

The Ice Rink is a place where dancers and entertainers come to practice before their debut as well as where families come to have fun

The Valley has two types of races; sliding and flying. Races take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

    The Sliding Races are an open event, meaning anyone that meets the safety standards can enroll, but only eight per age group actually get to go. 

    The Flying Races are far more physically demanding. Contenders spend weeks preparing for these races. Racers have to fit a whole bunch of high standards to be able to make the cut. Anyone who can do the rigorous training can participate if they're in the top eight of their class.

The Citadel is the training grounds for the Flying Races, closed to the public during Spring Training.

The Winter is the most attractive season due to the festive activities available for all as well as the Championship Race of the season

The Summer and Autumn are the official racing season

The Spring is when strenuous training for the racers happens as well as a local event called “Days of Love”

The Temple

    The entrance gives tribute to all the Champions that came and went

    The right wings are for traveling troupes and visitors to stay in.

so i’m replaying TLP memories and i noticed this in one of the books. it looks a lot like mantas flying toward eden, and made me think of the third shattering memory, with the mantas. what do we think?

i think the two legs of the n are slightly wider spaced, at least in the font. if it were in-universe i'd suggest context would also help - a lot of letters in english cursive can be hard to distinguish in the same way

there are 2 ways u can do it, depending on if you wanted a handwritten looking one or a clean one
for hand written, i'd go with calligraphr, u just fill out the letter sheet, put it in the site and make it a font
the others ive seen are all vector based and seem like they'd take much longer
