Imagine just moving around and having these black bits stick to you. Despite wiping and brushing them off, they keep coming back and sticking to you. At first they’re like little flies nipping cold, then as the layers build, you start to shiver — at least as much as you can. They restrict your joints, layer over your skin like scales but are not flexible in the slightest. You try to fight it, tough out the growing stiffness, but your movement only slows as the darkness builds and blackens your skin. You are wrapped in frigid ice. The last bit of movement you are capable of is kneeling over.
Oh god, imagine being petrified alive
Thanks! I hate it!
ASMR you are being petrified
So maybe that’s why the Trials have red candles!
Makes one think about the dawn mural about the ancestors and Darkness.
The only bit of comfort I can offer is that the creatures in the memories probably petrified really fast because they didn’t have time to curl up or get closer to others’ passive light to protect themselves
True, cannot imagine a manta flying and then slowly turn to stone mid-flight.
That would be a harrowing and sad sight indeed.
Since crab shells seem really stone like I wonder if they’re petrified as well
Maybe crab cases is more about losing all light because they are already stone, and so stopping moving, petrified but the difference is the light ,,, they are pretty solid that they can live with polluted water now, or even have red crystal on them
Do you think the relationship between the red crystal and the crab is like, symbiotic?
Or do you think the red crystal hurts them more with the added darkness.
Ooooo hmm. Probably second if I had to guess, it seems like it controls their decisions to some extent (like they hide and scream in pain when the shard is burned away) plus we don’t see them anywhere else, which could imply that they don’t survive long with the extra darkness
Ohhh i see!
It is possible that it’s a symbiotic relationship and the crystals suck up extra light for them to use, though
thinks of the fungus that turns ants into zombies
Yeah!! That’s how I imagine it works as well!
I was thinking that too!
But would that make the shards almost a hivemind of sorts?
I doubt each shard would all be under the same hivemind, but maybe each one is a separate one.
Personally I doubt it bc darkness seems to be heavily associated with isolation in this universe but it’s possible
Btw lorechat the bridge in sunny forest is working again
That makes sense!
Also back to flying over the bridge without using butterflies
Every shard crab could be driven by the same force, but there’s no cohesion or teamwork since darkness isolates.
Yeah that’s how I imagine it too. Like they all technically have the same goal because the same force is driving them but they don’t coordinate
I see! Thats sorta what i thought too, just didnt know the words for it lol
I imagine darkness’s drive for light is so all-consuming that any other thought of cooperation just wouldn’t come to mind. It hungers, so it does anything to satiate. Could even be repelled by teamwork if it means having to share the spoils and have less for oneself
All of this discussion about stone petrifaction and shard possession reminded me of the old concept art from Tom Zhao, that seemingly showcases how darkness could encase, and then possess whatever light it surrounded. Then, whenever the dark creature died, the darkness would return to its previous natural state of Darkstone, which would allow sky kids to melt it away, freeing the remnants of light trapped within. (Or at least, that’s how I read it
)
I’m sure it’s a piece of concept art that’s been discussed before, but it’s still one I find interesting nonetheless! Probably mostly because of the parallels to freeing spirits and sky kids, and “melting” the darkness away to find the pieces of light trapped inside like we do with the dark plants today. (Anyway, food for more discussion if anyone wants it
)
Ohh that concept art is nice i havent seen it before.
I definitely like the idea you present. It makes sense that the sky kids would try to free the light from the dark creatures who are now dead.
I also find it interesting how this concept art depicts how the dark creatures look when dying, turning back to the stone its really interesting.
The "saved/freed" concept kind of reminds me of the black shards and their reward (i.e. normal wax), except instead of just one light it's tons.
That would make sense though, wouldn't it? Seeing how the memories have multiple creatures in them... Oh
THATS ME
This concept art is making me wonder if the same general concept is true in the current timeline… I doubt it’s exactly the same because we don’t see darkstone deposits anywhere and for right now it doesn’t seem like certain corrupted creatures can die, but the general idea of darkstone being the natural state of darkness is super interesting. Especially it relating back to the whole concept of darkness being like, things staying the same and being solid and unchanging, makes sense for it to be heavily associated with stone
I agree, the turning back into stone part is really fascinating to me! Probably partially because it feels like a parallel to how dead things normally decompose, and “return to nature” so to speak
It almost feels like returning to stone is darkness’ way of doing that here I suppose
Even then, stone can be weathered away by time and the elements. Ignoring the fact that this is a completely fictional world that we've all collectively started to hyperfixate on, darkstone was probably prized and sought after not only because of it's capabilities, but it's durability. Look at all the darkstone-made objects, even stuff like the Forest Temple door still works perfectly
I like to imagine isle elder pulling a “you shall not pass” at the shards and that’s why they aren’t ending up in isle
Somebody get to this or so help me Megabird I'll do it myself
No but all I can imagine is that one image of the Isle Elder t-posing but them faced towards Eden in their cutscene
ignoring the fact that this is a completely fictional world that we’ve all collectively started to hyperfixate on
I feel simultaneously called out and seen
It's my job to call out everyone including myself
I’m glad to know that we’re all in this channel for the same reason
I have this headcanon darkness represents immutability, to change or to the trials of time, so...
Yeah that’s what I was talking about, how it makes sense for darkness to be heavily associated with stone based on that headcanon!
I also sent this to lore chat ages ago (Oct, 2020
), and I don’t know if anything like it has been discussed since then, but while we’re still on the topic of darkness and stone, this is what happens when you return to a light source in Eden, on the verge of turning to stone.
Or at least, this is what used to happen in the past
I’ve always found it interesting to see the games visuals challenged like this, but it also makes me wonder if there’s a canon reason for this sort of state, and I was curious if any of you had any thoughts so I figured I’d share it again just in case ! (If that’s alright!)
Personally think its just a bug. But, for lore wise i have a few ideas.
Perhaps when you return to a light while your becoming stone, your inner light keeps the stone at bay while not fully removing it. Making the skykid not exactly full darkness/stone, but not light either. Sort of a middle ground between life and death.
Thats a really rough explanation of what im thinking
My game side and my lore side are colliding on this one
Yeah, I’m sure it’s likely just a visual bug, mostly and ultimately since I don’t think the devs necessarily intended this
but I really appreciate hearing your theory nonetheless !
I was thinking of something similar, the light source was essentially acting as a life support, and it truly did feel like an in-between state of sorts. An interesting thing to note, is that sky kids also briefly have this sort of appearance when they regain their flame after previously losing it. In this case, however, they were stuck in this state, and unable to fully recover their appearance, despite regaining their flame. Game-wise or lore-wise, perhaps at a certain point after taking too much damage or darkness, they’re too weak to fully regain their appearance once they’ve lost it.
It looks cool though! Though I'm doubtful it would occur with the eden changes now.
Maybe on my next run I'll try do something similar...
Right??? It does looks super cool to me!
I’m also doubtful if it will still occur after all the changes, but feel free to @ me if you try to test it and find the answer !
Just be careful, please don’t sacrifice your ascended candles trying to find it
Isle Elder's T-pose is so powerful Eden itself trembles in fear at their might.
That is odd.
Unlit skykids usually lose their hairstyle and pants would become the default look.
I love the look of the skykid with their hair while unlit.
It looks cool, but it does seem like a bug, since the hair doesn’t appear unlit anywhere else
I do too, it looks super neat to me! If you want to recreate it yourself with any look, the easy way to do it is to deliberately lose your flame, rekindle it somewhere, and quickly take a screenshot! You’ll lack the darkness particles, but you should still get to see it for a very brief moment!
They sound like metal when you step on them
Yeah, I agree that it’s likely a bug
But I still find it fascinating anyways
Despite having the unlit appearance though, the flame is actually the only thing they have left there, which is one of the reasons why I find it very intriguing, both game and lore-wise!
I can see it being something more of a headcanon-y thing, which I am probably going to make it because imagine walking around the realms and seeing what looks to be a petrified skykid faraway from Eden moving
Sounds horrifying! But a fun headcanon, I’m glad it gives inspiration !
But you can deliberately turn your Skykid into a dark child
The glowing eyes from the mask completes the look
Goth skykid
hello lore-chan
a question
in the top left corner... are those... snails?
snails that belong to sky? I'm so confused.... never seen that before
it is from here: https://twitter.com/thatskygameKR/status/1553198956917637120?s=20&t=QcQrxfuv7LY5ph9p3meN0A
I don’t think they’re from Sky in any way at all, (unfortunately)
There has not been any mention or concept of snails (that I know of that are official sources).
Though that is an interesting little detail.
Perhaps it is a random prop. Or an easter egg to the Aurora collab.
they are painted like creatures of light and dark
maybe they'll come later, like the seestar in sanctuary island?
would definitely be very interesting and great
they look kinda cute
Aw wait, the shop the assembly was held at, didn't it have snails??
I.... don´t know?
headcanon that the dragons used to eat darkness. either the plant if those existed before the storm, or the darkstones somehow. but now that they're corrupted they eat light
Seems to be a decorative prop just painted for the occasion, it might’ve always existed at the café
... ...maybe
but it would be cute if they were in sky
(Petition for new light snail accessory
and dark snail too since we have the crab shoulder buddy now
)
that's something i never knew i needed. but i need it now
Hello @exotic berry ! It's been a while
(I’ve always thought a darkness-creature squid or octopus would go well, slowly drifting through the skies and spewing out light-snuffing clouds of ink-smoke to avoid while flying)
There’s a new (to me) mural on the road to Eden. Are there any others I’ve perchance missed?
no, that's the only mural
this mural is pretty new... only recently added
Actually, if I correctly recall, there is concept art of a light squid, and there is some pretty cool concepts of spider or octopus-like dark creatures too!

Oh? I’ll have to look into that. The concept art has all sorts of goodies in it. Thank you for that.
Here’s the ones I was thinking of !
And you’re very welcome !

That is much less elegant and much more horrifying than I imagined.
They’re very early concepts, but I would love to see a further developed and fully envisioned idea like you’re thinking of one day! Something elegant sounds neat!
https://www.thatskygame.com/kr/news/welcome-to-the-sky-assembly-in-july-2022
Here is the website for it, I thought that I saw it somewhere 🙂
ooohhh.... so that's why
thank you for taking the trouble to look it up
that explains a lot
but now i want these snails even more in sky!
That would be cool if they did a benefit/collab with them.
That turret gives me legend of zelda flashbacks
Oh god
I can hear the guardian theme now
I want the Turrets in the game now.
they are. they just don't work
is it possible that there are other kingdoms/landmasses in the sky world? like, there's the sky kingdom with isle-eden but does that landmass take up the whole planet or could there be other distant civilizations on the planet?
Yeah
It’s possible yeah! Some people think that the enchantment and possibly abyss spirits came from other places (although I personally don’t agree with this) and, considering how small the places we travel are in comparison to what would make a full planet, it’s definitely possible.
Personally I don’t really think about it a lot because it reminds me of that meme in dystopian novels where everything is completely fine and normal outside of the area it takes place in
What's the island near Home?
I think it’s the Isle of Dawn?
just a backdrop to make the area look prettier, probably. there are some old intro assets stored there but that’s about it. It’s way too small to be isle, it’s like… two whole rocks
I really don’t think so, especially if you look at the developer’s perspective. It’s a Chekhov’s gun, where if the devs imply other places in the Sky world, they’d be pressured to make content around those places. And the concept of other kingdoms somehow existing in the background doesn’t sit right with me
yeah, the rocks have the murals you saw in the old intro on them if you table drove over there. they didn't make another separate room for the opening cutscene so they just placed them in home
it’s one of those situations where, given the size of the kingdom that we can see, there’s almost certainly more stuff outside of it. however whether it’s inhabited with people is up in the air (could be why we don’t see it) and also it doesn’t really matter to the story
Either the disaster would have happened and destroyed everything there and we either don’t see the cleanup efforts or they’re just ignored for some reason (???) or everything outside of what we see is doing completely fine. None of the solutions feel right.
My personal guess is that there’s more land but there were no people there, hence why we don’t have to save them
i don't think they'd be pressured to do anything with other places if they existed, considering the way sky presents its lore.
what got me thinking about this in the first place doesn't hold much relevance to the story anyway, i was thinking of my own concept season about like. travelers from a different civilization going to the sky kingdom to make records of the different flora and fauna there.
If they’d really make a sequel to Sky involving different kingdoms, they’d either use a new universe, a specific region of the Isle-Eden kingdom, or the same Isle-Eden kingdom in a different time period
I guessed it was a personal concept thing! I would go wild with it then, the suggestions I made were what I’d guess were in canon but considering there’s not much info about how it works, you can do whatever and still have it be believable
I also don’t think they’d really be pressured to do much with outside realms.
Both enchantment and abyss could be from inside the kingdom (enchantment from isle and abyss the outer bits of wasteland or maybe the culture it had before it got destroyed) but the way they’re introduced and described makes it so that thinking they came from outside the kingdom and continent entirely is completely valid.
There hasn’t been much pressure from people guessing that wanting more exploration of it, though. (Mostly because people don’t seem to think abt it much, but still)
i don't think they'd ever take the bethanyesda fallout4skyrim5 dlc route where they introduce a whole different place for you to explore instead of expanding on the main story, if there were other civilizations on the planet i think they'd be introduced through something like i said earlier, through visitors to the sky kingdom dying during the calamity. sorry if what im saying makes no sense i'm. very tired rn
ok how about this
when will we meet an alive spirit?
No I get you! I think if they introduced outside visitors in game, it would be a struggle to make it feel right. For example, they made them all spirits like everyone else we’ve seen so far it would imply that they faced similar disasters that wiped them all out but no one cares enough to help them with it. Unfortunately, making them alive would both look a little out of place (I’m not complaining, it’s just extra modeling work and would be a bit of a shock) as well as implying everywhere outside the kingdom is completely normal and doing fine.
maybe they can just be bigger taller skychildren?
Meeting a living ancestor is pretty unlikely atm unless they came from far away as everyone seems to be dead after the disaster. HOWEVER. you can see living ancestors in the switch trailer and it is really cool :-)
to me they really do look like grown up skykids, however peoples headcanons as to the specifics vary a lot
ok so wait its implied the default avatar is the first skychild right
the savior of the elders?
ohhh are you talking about the one in ushering stargazers memory?
I had this thought earlier, as I opened the game and stood in front of the portals. I was about to go into the Valley and then I stopped and looked past the portals. The vast open sea, one single small island on my left, and nothing else. Our home island is almost entirely alone without the portals. I recalled the time I first got beta and the Isle portal wasn’t working so I was at home without a cape or constellation table. Most other players getting on saw that and left but I just stood there, eventually getting on top of the outfits hill. It hit me that we are stranded on the home island without portals, and today I realized something. If we use portals to get to the world of sky, it must be really far, so far that it doesn’t even show up on the horizon. Or, it exists in an entirely separate realm.
If the spirits are ancestors of us, why don’t we start in the world they lived in? I originally thought that perhaps the portals traveled back in time, and we could see the lives of our ancestors before us, only to see them in the Sky when we return home, but there’s also evidence against that. At the entrance of every level, you can see the spirits at their “tombstones” for lack of better word, which means we are indeed in the present. In seasonal quests, it is as if we are the residents of the Sky world, especially in Season of Shattering, as the ancient light calls upon us to help.
Are we not outsiders though? We are born at the home space, and the ancient light returns us to the home space when we are reborn. We may look similar to the spirits, but if they are in fact our ancestors shouldn’t we look more alike? And it seems obvious that the elder spirits are a separate existence, as they are much larger and look very different. In cutscenes, I never felt like we were the same. For what reason are we sent to the home space then? (some people might say “because itd be dumb to have to travel the whole world every time you want to go somewhere”) I don’t think it is that simple though.
As seen in early beta and in current live sky, there are numerous instances of boats. In fact, the spirits themselves make the boats and use them. In the prairie, wasteland, and in remains on the Isle, we see lots of boats. Why don’t we use boats to go to the Isle when it starts on the edge of the shore? Logically, using a boat to travel to the levels you want to go to makes sense. Or one boat could take you to the Isle of Dawn and you could use a shrine to pick a level further up the map. With enough studying, someone could draw an entire map of the Sky world, excluding the home space. Everything is connected except the home world, and there's even a portal that takes you back home at the end of the Vault.
I can’t seem to come to any conclusion about it.
There is evidence of home in the Sky world at large (Isle Temple). Also, I believe in Light Awaits (an earlier version of Sky), we used boats to travel to realms instead of portals. I'm not sure why it got replaced, but it could've been to differentiate it from the various boat?
Although they're called "Ancestors", it's more so in a spiritual sense. Sky kids aren't that related to Ancestors, but rather their own species that has many differing qualities.
Has there been discussion on whether or not burning darkness is creating or freeing butterflies since the (relatively) recent update made that happen?
I believe it's freeing, since we see mantas being trapped in dark plants as well.
TGC could just say that there's a magical barrier made by Eden that prevents outsiders from entering the kingdom and why wind walls exist. Boom, problem solved
/j
If I can throw my two cents in, I'd like to add that personally the idea that there exists other kingdoms or major governments beyond The Kingdom ™️ ©️ itself sorta diminishes the grandeur of it.
Like, this kingdom has been set up to have been this ancient & powerful force whose ambition/machinations unleashed hell & transformed the very environments in which it stood, whose technology was so sophisticated that it could capture memories or defy the laws of physics or turn it's elders godly, whose architecture was so grand & buildings so numerous that even after untold centuries it still remains recognizable despite the constantly raging storm at it's center, whose king seemingly descended from THE STARS ITSELF & was foretold on the walls of a cave where mysterious & ancient trials were kept, and whose (maybe) capital is a literal holy site to which all creatures of light will inevitably make pilgrimage to. And of this once great kingdom, we only get to explore a tiny sliver of it. Atleast in my mind that sorta compacts the feeling of tragedy towards it's fall along with giving the game a sense of expanse that improves the experience significantly overall.
But the idea that there are other governments or kingdoms beyond the kingdom of sky really sorta ruins that feeling, as it places borders on the Kingdom's size and limits it to the locations we see in game. Beyond that it can imply that there are/were other places whose ability or distance was great enough to put themselves beyond the kingdom's reach or even remain standing in the face of the calamity that caused the Kingdom's collapse. It really changes the whole "oh no the world has ended & now must recover" to more of a "wowie it sure is a shame that this tiny & insignificant kingdom died from a storm, such a shame, I sure am glad to be living in one of the many other places entirely unaffected & whose decision upon seeing the collapse of an entire civilization was to do nothing about it" y'know?
This post is significantly larger than I intended wow uh
i think we should first consider that even though there is actual "land" in the kingdom, it is still somewhat an interpretation of what heaven is in let's say christianity
the Ancestors were already spirits when they populated the kingdom. "As spirits, we became many." is literally one of the opening lines
so it is in some way an idea of a world where place like afterlife comes to.. well, life, though in a different way than reincarnation
and that means that other kingdoms, especially people living on actual land and not in the clouds, is a totally different realm. the spirits do cone from somewhere, so it makes sense for them to be "from the ground". they became many, bc we all die at one point and those spirits came to Sky and didn't have anywhere to go.. until they covered their realm in issues
if spirits lose memories of their past lives (as we actually kinda see in the game; the memories are scattered throughout the kingdom) it also makes sense that ancestors in Sky started "fresh" with technology and created a civilization fron scratch, even though they might've come from a different one, "alive" one
The bobbit has emerged to ask what we think of the butterflies that come out of darkness
Butterflies are very small and possibly directly spawn form any form of light.
Similar to how Day elder can turn flame light into butterflies.
I feel like it's important to mention that although sky does take inspiration from things like the bible, the kingdom of sky itself doesn't really seem to be an interpretation of heaven (atleast when compared to orbit, which more closely aligns with that idea). Beyond that, in the concept art the kingdom stretched from the clouds above to everything below (with places like the valley of triumph & the golden wasteland especially being examples of that) so it's kinda hard to believe that there exist(ed) people below the kingdom who upon death suddenly ascend to become new spirits.
However, the idea that the spirits reincarnated/were reborn in the kingdom having origated from some place else is a rather interesting idea that lines up well with some of Tom Zhao's earlier concept art! Although how much the concept art can be used to judge the lore is up to debate, I personally really like this idea & think it fits rather neatly lore-wise
They could have been traped there like their manta counterparts from the Hidden Forrest
Being trapped does not elicit a “yay” emote
Demon = Fallen Angel
Angel = Light
Skykid = Fallen Light
AYO???
Skykids are similar to Angels, but there are differences as well.
And “Fallen Angel” is usually meant in a metaphorical sense, like falling from grace, while “Fallen light” is literal, they fell from the Sky.
I know but i think its fun to think it like this
Also they have a bit similarities with fictional demons, like fire resistance
I am glad we see see them emerging back
Till 1 year ago or more they could emerge just in Golden Wasteland from just one specific darkness, the bulbs in the empty fireplace near the end of the Respectful Pianist
. It was a unique spot and it really saddened me that the only butterflies trapped in bulbs that we could save disappeared (or worse ||got digested||
). I'm very glad they returned and more stronger than ever
I think minor lightcreature already are part of the foodchain of darkplants, in several spots we can burn darkplants off sealed jar where there are butterflies inside and in Hidden Forest, in the broken bridge map there 2 mantas trapped in darkplants too (this used to be a recurring daily mission, before they extended the numbers of variegated dailies)
What do you think the 3r Quest Void poem means? The one in #vault-of-socials #vault-of-socials message
The third memory in the next Seasonal Quest is carried by the Mantas.
Soft wings flowing to bright beacons
Drawn from the path, trusting until too late
Bound in a merciless harness
Soft wings despairing against stone
Btw I'm still have more reason to doubt the StarLight Desert is real and here is why...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP4d74Qk3ac
... how could they make an heavily guarded Vault, built on the side/inside a mountain, protected by a heavy gate and the Wasteland Elder, simply accessible by simple corridor without any security?
That at very least explains why is very much sand inside the first floor, which wasn't much clear before SoTLP.
I guess, if my theory of Purple == Power of Imagination could have any proof, Starlight could be the creation of the mind created with one big Purple Orb at full power. Ever since I first saw the Praying Acolyte for the first time I was saddened that all the scholars (and maybe even all the refugee who succeeded in reaching GW temple before the war front reached the gate) died inside the Lybrary of Knowledge without hope and with no way out.
I guess IF that desert was created ot could have been a last resort let most of the people escape to Wind Paths through that.
Fallen might not always mean a demonic being if the angel is instead sent down for a reason.
Skykids do walk that narrow line between light and darkness.
They are neither true light creatures, nor are they dark creatures.
Both for the reason that they can tolerate darkness, but can get damaged by it. Hence why they can traverse both realms.
Indeed, fallen can have also a less obscure meaning. If fallen had that negative connotation, then what are all those petriefied Fallens , demons? 🙃
I know all of this; just wanted to share
Funny idea for a plottwist
So I’ve never seen alef in the prophecy caves before, did that only happen while the season was ongoing?
By Alef you mean the Prince/King, right?
||Just asking because there are fandoms where they switched the original placeholders names, so the Twins get erroneously called Alef and Daleph||
Agreed, beside when we die in Eden.
We Fall.
In case you meant Alef the Prince, one of the interpretation is that the golden kid in the murals is the Chosen One/Prince/King. After you finish Trial of Fire there is a subtle hint showing a fire brazier on a floating rock in the Cave of Prophecies
The concept are may be a bit vague, though understandably so because the names were placeholders that were dropped later in development.
The Twin valley elders are "canonically" (quotations since it is no longer canon) Samekh (Sah and Mekh for the respective elders)
The Sky Prince is Alef and the King is Resh.
The golden figure can still appear since the season ended by lighting the braziers on the floating rocks.
It still works, go lit that brazier and the murals gets updated with an golden figure, maybe a sky kid, who maybe was the first one that achieved the four trials, thus allowing the Kingdom to flourish and prosper with the 4 Elements as gifts to 4 Elders (Prairie, Forest, Valley, "Wasteland" )
Yup,
Fun fact, there is a subtle link from the season of Performance, where the forgetful storyteller's tale told about a skykid, or child of the Light, entering the cave of prophecies.
That’s a lotta info I just wanted to see the lil yellow dude :’)
YES! 🤩 My favorite ending/timeline
And believe it or not ||I actually got that at first try, without even knowing it!! 💓 ||
which story was that? :0
i wonder if there's a compilation of every story you can get from that quest since we can't redo quests
Here #lore-discussion-spoilers message
This is a graph of all the story you can get from that Performance Quest
Follow the lines to reach the bottom right ending
Ooops, I might have forgot the ping ON
YO THANKS!!
Quest 1 (I think?) 2 (Thanks Tebkanlo)
You help the forgetful story teller with getting their script in order for the play by choosing the options as they appear on the stage.
Tebkanlo has kindly given the link to the graph with all of the options and endings.
Second Quest / Act II
You can relive it !
Just sitting right behind the stage, near the wooden planks
Eyo, did TGC get an archivist on their team?
Can't help but notice the title next to carmwnfjsjd's name 👀
oh wait yeah i forgot performance had the acts available in the stage area, i was thinking abt the "completed memory" you see on the guide's tree. i'll have to go back and redo some quests sometime!
yeah i saw them too! i wonder what a tgc archivist would do, maybe preserve some old sky material?
i was actually wondering if there was any lost sky media out there, would be neat to see some unreleased pre-beta content
Reddit confirmed: they are new ❤️ 🎉
Oh oh oh oh!
There is shockingly more lore about sky outside of the game, than in the game itself!
(shockingly as in excitingly, though at the same time scarily)
I am sure the was plenty of things that happened in Light Awaits, that not even the ancient skykids may have not been able to capture.
Do anyone knows why can't I see Alef in cave of prophecies?
You gotta light the braziers unlocked after completing the fire trial !
Does anyone have the official tgc content, the one with the sketches and concept arts of mantas?
high-security castles often had secret entrances. they would be hidden and often guarded nonetheless in case someone did accidentally wandered in
you can find the concept art made by former employee Tom Zhao here: https://www.tomzhao.com/sky1
as for others, they're been spread out throughout blog posts, news articles, and tweets. thankfully, Clumsy has been compiling a lot on a Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1NoOYEAb4ogvjnyJwfS_hR5wxM1z86ghi
furthermore, the starlight desert's entrance in vault doesn't look like any other entrance in vault. vault's doors are typically locked with diamonds and require multiple people to open, whereas the starlight desert's entrance is a hole in the wall.
the wall around the hole is cracked, and the wall inside the hole is misshapen and clunky. the design repeated on every segment of the first room of vault is cut off by the hole.
i don't think this was just an open entrance, or a secret one either. i think someone tried to enter vault through force, tunneling in through the starlight desert.
also the fact that the archives also have holes as if they were brute forced. you think this is related? unknowns forcing their way into the vault and then into the archives?
It almost reminds me of the whole war you can see in wasteland… like maybe one side won and tried to breach the vaults defenses? idk
ho tru.. maybe this was their way of flanking? with heavy defenses in wasteland temple they tried to attack from behind by punching through the vault?
tho if this is the case whats the relation with punching through the archives too?
Makes sense and they probably couldn’t cuz we see vault is in really good conditions compared to wasteland.
Fly up to the floating rocks and light the braziers (start with the one near the water trial's entrance).
I would disagree with this because most of the damages Zhii mentioned is inside or breaching the walls of the vault
I can totally see people trying to break in not just because of the knowledge inside, but maybe because they thought it would be a good shelter/have a lot of food stored up after the apocalypse. Especially since the scholars seem to live inside it instead of just visiting like a library, given the cemetery
"strategic point" makes sense
its under eden, easily defended with only 2 official exits, sorta like a stronghold filled with information
hc: archives have blueprints and maps of eden
True true. But the wasteland was absolutely destroyed and the vault only has a few scars. Also if it had fallen into the sort of destruction we can see the wasteland did, all those books and pots would not have remained so organized
I have a theory but daahh gotta wait til end of shattering
you're right! the wall to starlight desert and holes in the archives are the only times we can see this kind of damage to vault. i wonder if these people were after something specific, and why that one "block" in particular was chosen to punch a hole in. maybe these symbols in this room are means of categorization and whatever on this one wall was important to them? shame we can't see the symbol anymore
Also a lot of ppl say what happened in wasteland was a “battle”. I originally imagined the elders to be the protectors and the ones who did go against the krills and stuff as the spirits are really peaceful. I might be wrong tho so I wanted to ask what’s your opinions on warrior spirits.
Further more we see wasteland elder is a broken warrior who is week and seemingly defeated terribly
its an extensive topic... well sorta
theres evidence in battlefield that it was a war between two groups of ancestors
in the concept arts it was a war between ancestors and light creatures
personally I think its a mix of both, with ancestors and light creatures on one side and ancestors supporting the king on the other
theres also a thing regarding wasteland elder, theres some things in game that point that wasteland elder may have defected
Maybe it wasn’t meant to get into the vault, rather escape. It would make sense for some scholars to want to escape the vault after the apocalypse because it’s so close to Eden and as such dangerous but the only exit they have leads to wasteland that has fallen and is filled with krills so they broke through the wall so they can escape via the wind paths
a valid point 🤔 although the canonicity of starlight desert is unsure hmm
So there were ancestors supporting king and the dark creatures? Why would they do that tho (considering what the whole Eden thing brought down upon all of the ancestors)
the king wasnt bad since the start and the origin of dark creatures is technically unknown (except that in concept arts and statement from the dev/s that they are corrupted light creatures iirc)
plus the king's rulership wasnt a self imposed one, if the murals are anything to go by
as for dark creatures, theres still not enough proof that dark creatures can work and follow orders from ancestors
in stealthy survivors memory krills are hostile towards ancestors
Oh I see. So you say the king was not yet a bad king so ancestors supported him in the battle of the wasteland against rebel ancestors and light creatures. Also talking about light creatures that rebelled against the king, there is a theory the the light beam in Eden was meant to attract light creatures so as to power the Eden crystal and keep the castle floating. Even in the current timeline we see the light creatures all have a certain path that leads to Eden if not disturbed so maybe that’s why some light creatures who were self conscious and some ancestors who wanted to protect their light rebelled against the king
P.s. maybe the dark creatures are alight creatures that their light was sucked up and used in Eden, explaining why they came from Eden. Maybe when the Crystal was overwhelmed by the light creatures and wave of dark used ones just poured out
I think there were multiple things that happen in Wasteland: internal conflicts, multiple environmental disasters, and dark dragon attacks. Wasteland got the worst of everything
Maybe the black oil like water in wasteland that polluted its waters were also waste from the crystal. Dark waste and dark creatures pour out of Eden into wasteland as the light is sucked by Eden. Tying in the battle, krill attacks, and the environmental things together nicely
It is meant to represent a midlife crisis if we're going off the whole "Stages of Life" thing with the realms, it's just bad things after bad things after bad things that all pile on top of each other
ah this is entirely speculative as not much is said or shown in game, a lot is shown in concept arts but not much is known as to how much is true in game
with the ancestors supporting the king against the light creatures, i think its because ancestors, at least the ones who supported the king til the end, were focused on their ambitions and technological progress (ancestor concept sheet)
the light beam in concept art was supposed to be a representation of the holy land where light creatures and ancestors go to ascend to megabird and be reborn iirc
origin of dark creatures... theres a lot floating around, but in the concept arts dark creatures are dark creatures corrupted by the storm in eden (this one imo has changed in some ways)
A theory about dark water is that these are wastes that come from light extraction to store light into power diamonds, in the concept arts light creatures leave some remnant behind when they die an unnatural death
tbh I had a thought when I relived stealthy survivors memory
is there a chance that stealthy survivor is from the sunburst faction? (rebels)
Canonically krill are corrupted
when is the time TvT
TGC---
that makes sense, i don't necessarily believe that's what happened. if going by zhii's observation of the similarities between the starlight desert's tunnel and the archive's tunnel, the wall in the archive's in busted inward. people were trying to get into vault. it makes no sense to bust in to the archives to escape, since the exit is right there.
i think starlight desert is a good vantage point into vault anyway; it's, well, deserted, and vault isn't visible from the desert, so nobody could see the operation to tunnel in. i think it was strategized by someone who knew the layout well: dig in from this one spot in starlight desert, continue to tunnel until you hit vault, and the entrance is right across from the archives on the ground floor.
there's a dock and stretch of water in starlight desert where you revive star collector. i think that's how they entered the desert (from wasteland?)
maybe they weren't even after knowledge, but material possessions; star collector wishes for riches.
i'm just throwing some ideas out there, i like this train of thought.
The time is when all of us have ascended to Orbit irl
We’ll possibly corrupted by the Eden crystal. Also @torn eagle about the reason for the king’s supporters, yeah it is technologically good since it helps them keep up Eden and many more things we yet do not know Dark water also supports this theory (coming from the storm or whatever sort of corruption befalls the light creatures in Eden)
there are also a fair amount of memory lanterns out of place or on the floor… I wonder if people tried to break into vault for its resources after everyone inside had already died. Kinda like how we see the abyss spirits raiding the abandoned treasure reef.
Hence why we don’t see any signs of fighting
huh... now it makes sense for that spear in the star collector area to be there... maybe thats also why jellies are in the area? support for the rebel faction?
The supporting reason I had for why they didn’t just use the door is that Wasteland was overflowing with krill and dark things so they wanted to find another escape (the wind paths) to get away from Eden and maybe have a little cozy life in forest or smth 😂
Also, I wanted to ask if anyone can DM me their theories about how the war effected valley since as of the timeline of the game it’s the most populated and probably during the apocalypse, one of the big dwellings of the ancestors.
I gtg. It was rlly nice talking to y’all. Have a good day/night
If I could add something, I don't think the Starlight desert is real in the sense that the GW or Valley are real, but rather is a manifestation of the Kingdom's hopes/fears/imagination produced in part by the magic of the mountain & the information stored in vault's archives as geographically the Starlight Desert doesn't make any sense! For example, although the entrance to the Starlight Desert is inside Vault (and thus already far within the mountain), Eden features prominently on the desert's horizon, which shouldn't be possible otherwise. Beyond that many of the objects within the desert itself are oversized in their portions (the lamppost, the giant vase, etc) compared to their counterparts elsewhere in the kingdom, which would have been strange for the ancestors to have constructed.
And speaking of strange, all the spirits who feature in the Starlight Desert are wearing chains, something that isn't seen with any of the other spirits in the game. Although it's entirely possible that those particular spirits just...liked wearing chains? I think it's more likely that the chains are supposed to be allegorical (the spirits being blinded by the greed/vainity/pride/addiction) as was sorta the case for the characters the spirits were based off of!
And uhhhh yeah
If you haven't already heard of it, there's a theory that the Starlight Desert spirits are also caricatures of the Elders (Beckoning Ruler being Isle, Starcollector being Prairie, Lamplighter being Forest, etc.). With your theory, I think this'd kinda suit the vibes!
OKay, I NEED to know. Does the megabird still exist in lore like actually? Or is it just an overwhelming presence of something holy and thats all ?
YES GOOD THEORY ABSOLUTELY YES NEEDED THIS
The Megabird absolutely exist! You see them (or what is believed to be them) at the end of the credits although what their role in the world of sky is & how much influence they have is up to debate
Also another theory that Vault is mostly made up of Purple Light (i.e. representing knowledge/wisdom). Hence when the kingdom fell, the elder couldn't keep it in it's used-to-be state and why it gets more dream-esque the further up you go.
The dream-esque theme could also be the Vault Elder forgetting what the Vault used to look like and instead imagining what they would have liked it to be, so the Starlight Desert could just be them poking fun at themselves and their colleagues or (probably the more likely option) scorning them for their lack of foresight (which I like because a n g s t)
OMG YOU ARE SO RIGHT HOW DID I MISS THAT???? tyyyyy
Adding onto that, they're also the one believed to have sent down the king as well as us sky kids. The king probably had the same role as we did, to bring the lost/fallen stars home, but we all know how that ended up
You can also see Megabird right before you go through the portal in Orbit, just look up!
That's a really interesting theory that I've never heard before
but it makes a good amount of sense given the vault scholars' (and our skykids') abilities of telepathy & whatnot
Yes! Can't remember for the life of me who made the theory, but it's one that I like to believe in
Might be Salem, I think
Or Vela
Or Alasdair
Ah yes, the holy trinity
Does anybody know what this is? I found it in golden wasteland
My guesses is that it's a statue. Lighting the white candle near it activates the catapult beside it. I don't have much else on it
Hey that’s one of my headcanons! Am really glad it spread :-)
(Both of those are mine which is really funny, I’m glad they’re enjoyed)
it was me yeah!
Ah, was thinking! Didn't want to say in case I accidentally got it wrong
But yeah, I really love your theories on Vault because that realm has always confused me since I started delving into sky lore
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it
it makes me really happy when people use/adopt my theories and headcanons!
Salem propaganda strikes again, we can't keep letting em' get away with this!
Are you. Are you making propaganda about me???
Vault is made of cookies and pastries because i said so
Actually upon further inspection it’s constructed from very blue blocks of cheese
Soon vault will be baked
Me when i turn off the air conditioning system behind vault elder’s back during summer
If you look up before being reborn (or going through the gate) after orbit, you can also see the megabird and three skids flying above you
They shall be baked soon Alhamdulillah
YESSSSS‼️
Look, if we steal the orange light from Forest-
why are we baking vault
soon
the holy trinity
CRYING I JUST NOTICED THAT MESSAGE
Skycord moderators HATE them !
local trio of queer people takes over lore chat
can we have lore chat be a designated safe place for people to come out about stuff like your mental conditions?
Nah, your mental health should be discussed with your friends or with a therapist.
I mean like if you wanna tell people you have ADHD but don’t wanna shout it to the gen chat
Oh, I mean sure, we're a lot of neurodivergents here, though as much as the topic coming up might decieve you, I wouldn't do that out of the blue. There's #cozy-sky-discussion if you just wanna talk about it with people !
Gotcha! Since we’re on the topic I might as well let you know, I have both ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome. It sucks sometimes and I feel lonely too, but I’ve got some good friends who don’t care I’m different and love me for who I am!
Cool, I got Aspergers too !
ooooo. You wanna gush to each other about our favorite characters sometime? I love finding people willing to listen to me rant about a biromantic dragon boy and his AI boyfriends.
Relevant
every few days the lorechat button on the side of the chat starts appearing to a random person who fits within that triangle to summon them
this but with spirit headcanons
HAHAHAHSHSHSHHSH
Crab Whisperer in the middle
I’m also asexual lol. I’m sorta a furry? At least if you count me liking well-developed characters with cool designs who happen to be animal-like as being one.
Salem is our resident furry, ask them
shushing light scholar is now on the spectrum like me, their emote is seen as rude because they dont show a lot of emotion but they genuinely get overhelmed by noise
source: i asked tgc and they said yes
Scolding student is totally a furry but is ashamed of it and projects their furriness onto baffled botanist
does Salem accept pings?
the assembly kids definitely rp warrior cats in the mud
I’m here, I would say that if you call yourself a furry than you are one. I am not gatekeeping fursonas (that is a really funny concept out of context)
i mention wc and here they come running
If you’re not sitting in your temple forging darkstone and meowing to yourself are you even a real furry 🙄
What if shushing scholar and greeting shaman have staring contests from the highest platforms on the 4th floor but shaman always wins because the eyes on their mask don’t blink (unfortunately) and shushing scholar can’t make out their actual eyes
I wouldn’t call myself one but I know a few people who are. Furries are people too and as long as they aren’t participating in nasty stuff or drawing it with the intent to get pleasure out of it I’m happy to accept them. Goodness knows I can also be weird.
"I am ||not|| gatekeeping fursonas"
- Salem, august 2022
we love to be weird
We bite here to keep it weird
Bearhug hermit is the only real furry ever, in both real and fictional categories. everyone else go home
damn y’all vampires?
uhhh maybe?
nice lol, I personally love garlic toast too much to give that up.
ill share my own weirdness if i may im nonbinary
thank you for your service
is that a picture of u
thats not wierd thats based

oh god I just remembered something that I kinda wanna share but it might gross you guys out
Uhhh maybe don't post it unless it's a Sky theory then
aight
but like do you think the mantas and fish trapped in the King Krill were conscious till we freed them?
peepaw on a rock moment
I'm not sure ? It seemed to be in the same state as the newest shard memory, so maybe it was a husk like how we find the ancestors !
I know you get most of your pics from the pinneds but I never saw that, do you recall where you got that ? Because
alright it’s almost 10 PM for me I’m gonna go to bed. Good night Lore-chat!
goodnight! sleep well
i think? not sure im just sifting thru stuff i got saved rn but lemme check smthing rq have a boat while i go do that
It depends if you think they’re just sitting there being eaten/devoured, or were part of the consciousness making up the leviathan. The second would mean that they were almost definitely conscious but not exactly filly themselves, and the first is kinda open to interpretation.
For the first, I would say maybe yes but the only situations I can compare it to are the mantas in the shard memories that were implied to still be conscious for a bit, and the mantas in the darkness in hidden forest. Neither of those are exactly the same situation so it’s hard
ohhh i remember seeing peepaw on rock in my news site deep dive
THATS IT, 4gamer <3
how do you guys get the energy to do that, i draw one background then pass out
silly guys……..
I KNOW RIGHT, continually baffled by the things people habe energy for

Forester has hyacinths???? Oog
Sobbing at upper right one bc it looks like someone did the table trick on them
Is that why Rain is like this
yknow on one hand oo mysterious person in the forest mist spooky but on the other. I know for a fact if i saw this vers of teth id try and put my arm thru the hole no hesitation
HOLE!!!
- spirits are a reflection of their realm
- laidback pioneer is afraid of tables
- therefore Rain elder is afraid of tables
AORJWODOSOFJ
Hiss at the tables till they go away
when was laidback afraid of tables
time to make them suffer with my nonexistent table
girl why are you missing where ur heart is supposed to b in several diff versions of u are u good
TS hint.
Reminds me I need to look at TS hints for the fic
oh wow
i was there for laidback how did i not hear of this
The spirits being reflections of their elders theory explains why there are so many cats in forest. laidback pioneer, baffled botanist, scaredy cadet, daydream forester, hairtousle teen etc
realizing the heart is on the other side of the body
Baffled botanist???
They’re in denial
Baffled botanist knocked a lantern off the treehouse in their cutscene (like how cats knock things off tables) and they also have the look of a creature about them
True
denyaal, if you will
I want to see more porcelain teasets in Sky.
Sky isn’t British
Although one can argue that skykids are porcelain teasets, just not very good ones. They are more durable at least.
Oh now THIS is discourse I can get behind
Sorry but the lightseekers and bloom guide are all British by associating with an event that sells a porcelain teaset
where’s the british crab call pic
RIP luka, you will be missed
consider: skykid salt shaker
Pictured: krii about to get murdered
Truly a menace to society
Chat messages posted seconds before disaster
@rigid mural
WHAT
crab call having a tea party w their crabs but it’s like the equivalent of trying to have one with several rabid raccoons
Sounds like a pretty standard teaparty to me
Does that now mean Grandma is an old "crazy cat lady" ?
That’s just my aunt
Ig she’s actually the belonging granny
Extemely baffled at the implication that all the spirits listed live in their house and are their pets
no i just think they get invited over for dinner
Ah
Granny opens their doors to anyone who’s hungry
@frigid tinsel hey can i ask you a question???
It's even funnier if you include Rain elder
Do you have headcanon names for the whole abyss crew? I’ve been thinking about testing out drawing them in the Don’t Starve artstyle but I don’t feel like their canon names would fit the little character select illustrations well because they’re not proper names
, so i’d like to use them (with credit if i post any drawings ofc ^^)
Yea I’m writing a fic — well, multiple fics — that take place during the ancestors era and since the monikers seen in-game seem to be skykid given nicknames, I’ve been giving the ancestors names that they refer to each other with.
Abyss guide — Marrun “Mar”
Cannoneer — Vidar “Vi”
Commodore — Fritjof
Angler — Alfing
Boatswain — Siggonsiyo “Sig”
So yea, go ahead and use them as long as you credit me. You could try naming them yourself but if you like mine then go ahead
Ty! ^^
The battle begins
Oh boy
do krill have noses
HELP im having a coughing fit irl the British are too strong
also why are the spirits british
british people eating "food" doesnt mean they would be as brave as crab whisperer trudging on through something equally as disgusting, crab whisperer should be scottish like the isle elder
Granted they don’t have typical faces, eh.
Also I love the juxtaposition of the hell that’s going on here and your question, you’re wonderful
Crab whisperer is american
no
no
I aim to please
I just remembered I have Reika’s krill model from the front. The googly eyes are there for a joke but it’s the only one I have.
i got this
ANYONE REMEMBER THE KTJN KRILL????
isle elder does give scottish vibes
credit to reika ofc
well that is horrifying, thank you for the nightmares
I write horror sometimes, it just happens
Narrative parallels between crab whjsperer trudging through toxic sludge and you googling if you could bring food to the uk
I'm not eating toxic sludge for breakfast unless I want to or if it's a survival situation.
Also if TGC wants to come to a con in an english-speaking country in Europe, can they go to Ireland or Scotland and NOT england, poor devs need to find actual food there
they’re about to destroy it
The weak must be separated from the strong
Only those capable of withstanding such toxic sludge, bowels unscathed, are worthy
Krill don’t appear to have object permanence tbh
Or a pretty poor understanding of it
That's the last thing queen elizabeth will see before dying
Wait a second queen Elizabeth is still alive? I'm beginning to think that woman really is immortal
yea she's still alive, somehow
Agreed
With your help, we can change that
Who’s to say that under hiking grouches mask there isn’t a second, smaller, mustache underneath
Plot twist is that the eyebrows are bigger
I want to say that ancestors with facial hair had slits in their mask for their beards and such to poke through but the question is why
The cake jokes….. 💀
NO IT CANT BE
begging tgc to fix them cause good lird
Also holy crap are they ok 😭😭😭
Their model was always kinda off but… help????
sky is a game
They have seen the Void.
Obligatory
He looks like his arms are legs what—-
NSJSKSSJNSKS
Ya he is powerful, what about it
Okok random but i think about how like
They're beauty, they're grace, they can kick your face.
I want to see more headcanons of rhythm that have more of the crew be women or non-binary tbh???
devs have said that everyone in Sky is agender, so they are all nonbinary already
True true!
sitting here hitting pianist w the neopronoun beam
quack/quacks/quackself moment
Do u think skykids leave them offerings at their grave, I'd see them make some gifts for spirits that helped them a lot.
Thats super cute…….
Oh that's good to know!!
I just pictured a skid leaving from wasteland for the first time with nothing but a crab in hands so they just leave the crab as an offering
a fren for the spirits :)
That's like kids walking up to you and handing you a lizard
Pioneer liked this
Does crab whisperer know… crabbiology… crabiology????
perhaps
I just became needlessly attached to this idea of crabs becoming this sort of token multipurpose thing among skids
Offering for elders and ancestors? Pets? Friends? Enemies? Food? Crabs got you covered
THE IMAGE
WHERES THE IMAGE
SOMEONE SEND IT
crabs are to skykids what mantas were to ancestors
crabs are the chickens of sky
I got so many doodles of them being a healer with crab accomplices
Surprised it hasn't been sent yet
WHERES THE MOST RECENT ONE
SOMEBODY HAS TO HAVE IT
lmao "most recent" good luck
Slink's flag ? Yeah hang on lemme find it.
Baud, you're gonna have to be more specific than just "one"
I'm sure there was a recent one that even included the void of shattering despite all the jokes about it being actually transphobic
transphobic trans people exist
Iconic
YESSSSS
Good point
reminds me of this Vela doodle
Love this!!!

The king:
-built a giant mecha because was insecure about being short
-used to be an elder of light but got corrupted
-covers face with a mask
-lame
The void of shattering:
-cool crystal goes kaboom
I think we have a clear winner
feeling generous enough to fight Google Docs, DFT Crab Whisperer healer.
tw for child injury
I love you and your writing so much. Giving them a hug.
I love you and your art two, you're wonderfully talented
But yeah, the idea of lightseekers being a kind of healer with light attunement is making me go wild, that with my headcanon that later on their job became similar to ours (gather and bring light back in places overtaken by darkness, shepherd souls to the elders...)
That and this doodle that sprouted from a convo I had with Spade... The stars were kind far too late.
i love the idea a lot
is that tora-jiro what is he doing here
Saving this
Excuse me... What's the name of the Clock Stone on forest, that indicates the rainbow?
it's just a clock
Finally found this picture after multiple unsuccessful attempts at googling variations of "sky cotl fish cycle mural" LOL
Does anyone know what it's actually called? I first saw it in this chat like, 2 years ago and it's been my wallpaper since then
In which realm is this mural?
It's concept art. I think
Ite concept art
This reminds me of the mural on the water near the portal to ||office||
(Not sure if ||office|| should be marked as spoiler here
)
I don't think this is concept art though? When I made a new account back in June, I saw a cutscene showing the backstory of the Kingdom in a style like this. Unless I'm misremembering, that's probably one of the murals shown in the cutscene for brand new accounts in Isle
I don't remember seeing it when I made an account 🤔
It isn't. The style is similar but this is definitely concept art
You don't have to blank out spoilers like eden kr office
The channel does have spoilers in the name
Yall know that crabs attack those light props right?
And we are children of the light
They live in a cave that's filled with darkness
Do crabs hate light and attack us because we are light?
Yeah they do
bobbit ^^
Do you guys think that ancestors and elders have the ability to fly like sky kids?
Nope since they had to use boats
Oh dang I forgot about that. I figured because on some of their capes there were stars
I think they can’t jump rlly high but I think the flight is reserved for those who wear the capes. I don’t think sky kids can fly either without the capes as we can’t fly when our light is burnt and our cape disappears
I know the beard is in front of a mask in-game, but visor masks would make the most sense for bearded Ancestors
I think the only reason why there's a single wedge on the capes is because of the cape mechanics of our skids. The cape needs at least one light to actually show, just a mechanic imo. Capes back then were just capes, they didn't have any special qualities
Unless the ancestors with capes could actually fly, and the only reason why they all only have one wedge is because they only have so much light in death to sustain it
more musings abt isle elder
we (as skykids) need to awaken the elders using our light. this is done so by lighting up the white candles in the temples. the elders then use this light in their cutscenes. (or yeet it away into oblivion like the valley twins
)
most temples have 3 or 4 candles…but isle elder has 1. and even in the cutscene when they scoop it up in their staff i think there is still some light in it. i think this ties in to the fact that isle elder probably didn’t want anything to do with the darkstone production or any of that and was probably the most “pure” out of all of the elders.
Ever thought about why only forest, wasteland, and vault elder have wax spawning on their candles when you light them?
This honestly just sounds like a bug.
I remember the Isle white candles would spawn wax too for a time, before it was fixed as a bug.
yeah, like that one arch in wind paths where only candles on the right side spawn wax for whatever reason
And how one patch of white candles in vault 3rd level, that spawn a tree, also gives wax but the other tree white candles don't. A nice set of bugs which I don't mind them living in Sky a bit longer.
I tried measuring resh and he turned out 52’6 other elders are 7’8 what am i doing wrong
Isle elder has only 2 darkstone in their temple I believe, which open the two doors into their tombstone shrine. But I think your theory still works. Isle elder's single candle has always felt like they are the most humble and approachable, as if they are down-to-earth.
You can see Valley and Wasteland has a great amount of candles, and their realms are the ones with the most darkstone.
bro this is somehow more terrifying than the regular Krills. Those eyes stare into my soul.
Oopie
if its a bug oh well
Just thought that if it isn't a bug why is it only forest, wasteland, and vault.. maybe its related to darkness but ehhhhh TvT
Exactly, it is not part of the design!
are skykids made out of wax
Ayo what
I think the in game scale just doesnt match
seeing “52’6” and registering it as 52 feet and 6 inches makes me grin
I've seen a lot of people that call new cape "baby manta". But I'm pretty sure that it's not manta at all! Here's why. There's a lot of normal sized mantas everywhere, I suppose it's their adult form. In prairie I've seen mantas that are a lot smaller, so I suppose that THEY are baby mantas. But not that cape thingy because it doesn't even look like manta. The tail is too wide and short, and this cape looks like the creature from Light Whisperer memories. It's just too small to be the manta's baby. It looks more like some kind of bird, and as we know there's more than 21 kinds of birds in Sky (confirmed by Double High Five Light Catcher). Also their name (Light Whisperer) could be referring to that creatures name - Light, because as we know, call spirits names represent the creature (crab, jellyfish, whale etc.). But I haven't seen Lights anywhere in Sky, it's like they died out! It could be not a bird but some another type of creature, that died out along with the spirits (because they have separated calls).
What do you think?
I THINK there are some lights in sanctuary but I could be wrong
i think there’s one near the sanc quest giver?
personally I always assumed flights were the name of baby mantas, similar to kittens for cats and so on, but looking they do seem a bit different… maybe they gain the gold bits with maturity or soemthing? not sure. They do seem so manta shaped it’s hard to imagine them as much else.
I agree that the cape does look most similar to them, though. Not sure if the difference is just so that it’s visually distinct from the last manta capes
It's safe to say, that there are also many different kinds of manta in the world of sky, some look beautiful and some look bizarre. To me it looks more bird, cause there are tiny bird like things that I've seen in sky shaped just like that. I just can't remember where exactly. But I will hunt it down, and find it.
It could be name of manta's babies, I agree. We need to look for another lights in Sky, maybe there's more that we haven't noticed
It will be great if you show us more creatures like that!
There are small things that look like birds but have found tails like that. If I find it I'll post a pic
OK folks, I got my pics, first let's start off with the stream of birds we find all over the place. Thier tail feathers are flat and not round. Correct?
Then we have these little cuties, thier beaks aren't as long as the others and thier tail feathers are rounded.
I just assumed there were multiple varieties of birds like how it is irl.
Oo, that's really similar to lights
Sometimes in certain places they mix and fly between each other. But the ones with the rounded tails, don't fly in streams, and usually stay In One spot. You can go look yourself if you like you can find them on the top of sanctuarys main Island, at the cave exit at beginning of Isle of dawn and many more places. Go look at the little things and tell me that cape doesn't represent or at least look like those birds.
Hehehe do they? Maybe they are of the same species hehehe.
Now I'm almost sure about that
What an interesting research! 😆
But there's still not 21 kind xD
Light Whisperer also saves this kind of bird, and they have a bird on their hair. It also can mean that both creatures they saved were birds (but that’s rough)
birb lover
I kinda thought light whisperer’s name was just a catch all term for light creatures since they’re all part of the Light
Hmm that’s a good point
Though that term sounds pretty cute. I also feel like it’d get mixed up with the Lights that float around the realms introduced during Lightseekers
A tank
You can find these mantas in sanctuary
They’ve always been there, you can find them near the bells!
Damn so these are mantas…. The biggest disappointment in my life
BAHAHA
Life is indeed full of disappointments
Anyway thanks for information!
Ofc! I’m glad to have been able to help!
But you could say that they’re a different subspecies of manta! They have a rather different appearance from the common mantas we’ve seen!
I heard some people referring to them as baby or pygmy mantas !
Pygmies! They’re like little unicorns with that spike on their head
It was a fun journey at least. I like the idea of calling a group of manta "flights" or "lights" though.
considering the electrical conductivity of diamonds, i'm inclined to believe the season guide is some kind of mega battery that blew a fuse so to speak. bc what are these shards OF?
(the question is, what was the battery for?)
heyo
sorry for interrupting, what was that one website called with all the sky concept art?
i have like, half a spiralbound notebook devoted to theorizing the lore of sky
It could be a soul trapped in a battery, like a poltergeist
@raw snow check pins!
i think that soul is the kid we see before entering orbit after eden, and likely the same one witnessed by the ushering stargazer on the isle of dawn
wah i did just check the pins! i saw it there last week(?) but now its gone
Wait what? https://www.tomzhao.com/sky1
And
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1NoOYEAb4ogvjnyJwfS_hR5wxM1z86ghi
has some but not all of them
thank youu!
Hello lore chat
where is this from? It was posted earlier but I was too shy to comment and I don't want to ping or reply to an old post
I love their little eyes
looks like a piece of concept art, possibly Zhao or Yui
Could not find an online source, though agree with alasdair with the art style.
May I ask where you got the image?
Thank you!!! I got it from here, when people were discussing about mantas, let me grab a link
ah, I see. Thanks
It could be a pygmy manta a.k.a another species
:o babby mantas!
Soo the q&a they posted in #vault-of-socials had some small things that I found intersting (obviously it’s was a fun q&a nothing serious and I might be looking to much into it but still)
Probably
“having contemplated life’s important topics.” Was the most interesting to me, I don’t know why. Like what are the most important topics to contemplate in life
Jelly jam exists, though it’s unclear if it hurts the jellyfish or not
Seasonal candles have a different smell every season and that’s all that stuck out to me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze4NQTXvxYc
My suspicion for the jellyfish jelly comment is that its a reference to this
Now that I’ve watched this that would probably be the case
now whos gonna be the spirit out there who'll be peddling jellyfish jelly crab burgers
Tom Zhao concept art ! I will fetch you the full pic
Omg thank you so much!
i love how scrunkly they look
star collector
damn it i cant find it, it's probably in one of the galleries in the pins though becuase i recall seeing it somewhere close !
This is extremely accurate
would also probably sell them for 3x the price than it is
How we know that the name of the krill is krill 🤔
It's a fan name ! The game refers to them as "Dark Dragons", but krill is short and sweet :]
oh hey look at what I found, I still think the geyser idea is so cool
Oh so krill is the name of the community
Yeah !!
https://twitter.com/thatskygame/status/1284977323754708993?s=21&t=SPo6Ogj3byWg1KgDgJ-j0g
found the tiny fellas! @marsh turtle
Sips tea The question over how the Candles smells makes some still question why I thought Candles were made of souls.
Huh?
Thank you so much for your help everyone! I love them so much oh my goodness
i tried looking on the pages and such myself with no luck, i hadn't tried social media!! Thank you!!!
The question is what is exactly is the eye of Eden
The more important question is how exactly is the Eye of Eden
Yes what is the eye of Eden
Yeah
not well, considering its insides are being thrown all throughout skydom
Can anyone complete it
We only know is bad for the kids of light and now is unstable
What made it unstable tough?
I really hope we get to know with the next season quest
the text for the last one said “one more memory” after all
but then again: we got a memory for jellies, crebbies, and manta-ies. whats up with the krills?
I guess that'd be next
I think the time we know for the Nintendo switch trailer that it wasn’t before
Oh you are new, we are in the season of shattering
first off: welcome to skycord
second: were talking abt season of shattering
Thank you
We are talking about what is happening to the eye of Eden
Maybe this has to do with Flight? We know that The Flight paths help Manta and Light Creatures move around trough long distances. We also see that Eden Crystal might be darkstone, maybe since the flightpaths opened, there's tooo much light being absorbed.
*Darkstone is a material that has the ability to store and release light, extracted from light creatures such as manta (for the new loremoth)
Well we know that is dropping parts of the eye of Eden I think it’s because is unstable but we don’t know either
I personally think Assembly smells like sawdust, the Little Prince candles smell like roses, Flight smells like mint, Abyss smells like salty ocean air, Performance smells like chocolate, and Shattering smells like death.
Recently, a new mural has been added. A lot think this is the king putting the giant crystal in Eden here !
I haven’t come up with scents for the other candles/Seasons yet lol. Any ideas?
WHERE??? 😮
Maybe he tried to syphon it's power, to put the light beam in darkstone, like a "MURAL DRAWN FIVE SECONDS BEFORE FREAKING CATASTROPHE'
I like to think it depicts the same event as this prophecy mural, but the latter is a prediction.
To answer the question though, there's a lot of theories about what the Eye of Eden is.
The theory I believe in is that it was supposed to be an "infinite light source" to forever power the kingdom sustainably without the killing of light creatures like mantas. Of course, that backfired, most likely due to too much light being condensed at once.
Another theory is that it was a way to self-ascend to Orbit made by the ancestors, perhaps to show that they did not need the Megabird anymore. Basically, a bigger version of the ceremonial area in Prairie (the eight-player elevator).
Side note: Eden can also be seen as a huge boat. This is from Tom Zhao's concept art, the Exodus Ark (which is different to the Forgotten Ark from Season of Enchantment). Conept art is taken with a grain of salt, but some aspects of it could still apply to the current game. This'd tie in with the whole "self-ascension" theory, with the Eden diamond being a way to power the whole thing.
Of course, the lore is up to interpretation, and there are probably other theories but those are the two that I could come up with at the top of my head
After entering the second map but before opening the door to red eden, go to your right and look for candles. They make the mural appear if you light them up !
I think the Beam and such were natural features that helped ancestors ascend whenver they needed, mantas flying straight trough, Jelly flying up
isn’t it on the wall where people go out of bounds? Ironic then that the mural depicting a disaster is on the same place we glitch into to skip the fallout of said disaster.
Omg bro thanks for write this it make sense to me
Opposite wall !
Do we know if the Stars fell before or after the explosion of the Eye/Crystal of Eden?
The first sprit we se that they see a light fell so I don’t know man
Me too
here
I gonna spleen bros see you tomorrow and good luck theorizing the Eye of Eden tomorrow I learn to you goodbye 👋
Nah flight candles would smell like stinky birds
Forgive me if this has already been mentioned 🙏🏼 just started playing Journey and I’m getting the feeling that world was the home of Sky people before they made their homes in the clouds ☁️. I’m catching distinctive similarities in the writing glyphs while playing both games.🤓
As similar as they are, they’re completely unrelated as far as i’m aware.
probably just a tgc style similarity, though i do agree theyre very similar
iirc tgc once said smth abt sky being a spiritual successor to journey with a great deal of references, but that quote source is beyond me rn
The symbols that your character has in Journey is an innate part of them and seemingly every creature, so i feel like we would have to have them for the two to connect
yeah makes sense. people wanted a multiplayer journey so they made sky
I mean, journey is multiplayer
just not in the way sky is
Which one’s better? (Time to start war)
Every response will be based on one’s opinions thus be subjective. Heresay doesn’t make good data unless you compile a lot of responses.
A lot of responses is still a collection of subjective opinions
i havent played journey so i cannot judge
same here, ive been meaning too but ive also been meaning to play like 20 other games
I do think Sky will leave much more of a legacy than Journey, considering it’s a long-running game that has more players
It’s also more accessible on multiple platforms while Journey is PlayStation exclusive
I wonder if Sky lore discussion is the most popular it’s ever been; and if it’s poised to increase and become a larger part of the Sky community or decreases as Sky grows too large for lore
How about both
Thats impossible
It could probably fluctuate between both
I think when the animation comes out, the lore discussion will heavily increase
Let me do something wait a minute, I’m performing some lorechat research
Let's be real all it will take for most of the playerbase to forget lore is a thing is for TGC to make cool cosmetics or make a popular TS return
Lorechat will most likely remain in this weird sort of kinda-niche-but-not-really limbo
(And remember moths! Cosmetics are temporary, lore is eternal
)
how come we grow blue crystals when we get extinguished and have to crawl?
There’s a thought that if the blue crystals are darkstone, then darkstone is solid petrified light, sorta like irl oil and coal are compressed ancient biomass
Journey is also pretty darn famous in its own right though. It’s frequently cited as being an example of how games can employ artistic techniques to improve the overall experience, and be an artistic experience within itself.
Also this isn’t really the case, Journey is also available for PC and iOS
That still does make it more limited but i’d still say that Journey was and is still a very influential game
Journey got a PC port but not Sky 😔
Someday
The devs did talk about a PC port
sassy 4 the pc return
SASSY 4
kitty sweep
I wonder why they chose a sassy stance to include within the emote roster tbh???? Specifically, for gratitude. It’s just kind of… out there compared to the rest of the season in a way?
Sassy drifter is also that in literally every way though
sassy 5 for xbox
YO SPIRIT SO SASSY
THEY WENT TO THE
this is legitimately one of the worst jokes I've made ever
HELEOOEBFMEBDMDJSLWJ GOD
ive only heard the siren one obsessed with this
sassy six for xbox live
I've seen the original but the siren one cracks me up every time
I feel like sassy is gonna break out of the boundaries of the Sky world and start showing up in other games eventually
I'm sorry everyone, in a few minutes I'll be posting an extremely large message. Just giving some heads up!
dismiss vc: sassy where the hell are we
I love gratitude spirit memories because, with how little context the season has in general it just looks like all of them got hopelessly lost. especially drifter. so this is on brand
they r having a good time
They’re just vibing
sky rtx on pls tgc
I’m just gonna set this here cause i never seen it before
It's an interesting poem about how the Sky Kingdom fell from grace and exploited the kingdom, causing it to fall
I just was reading it and notice a lot of lore drops like “we were enraptured as we taught machines to bind and hoard” or “we took the light from the wind” those 2 really stuck out to me as important to the story
The second is interesting since the "we" implies a collective failure, rather than an individual messing things up
And the behemoths it mentions I wonder if it’s talking about krill cause if you interpret the we took the light from the wind and the behemoths are monuments to what we did it seems as they are almost hinting maybe the big mantas or something lost their light and got corrupted (just a little thing that popped into my head after reading that)
man all the shattering poems are so so good & just. really confirm stuff that’s been theorized for a while
Where did you find this?
It was on the official sky page I can drop a link
Ooooh sure sure!
we’ve also gotten poems to go with each memory! they can be found in #vault-of-socials
I really like the poems, I wish they could become a reoccurring thing for other season wuests and introductions.
my silly dream that would probably never become reality is like. little short stories for each season when they’re introduced
Idk if the link gonna take you straight to the post but it’s titled shard of the past arrive in season of shattering https://www.thatskygame.com/news/shards-of-the-past-arrive-in-season-of-shattering
Here's some research I did: the message counts in lorechat, for each month
2019 October: 7312
2019 November: 7744
2019 December: 7479
2020 January: 4506
2020 February: 8111
2020 March: 7605
2020 April: 25224
2020 May: 22074
2020 June: 20745
2020 July: 52000
2020 August: 54417
2020 September: 77189
2020 October: 64838
2020 November: 62990
2020 December: 50742
2021 January: 48428
2021 February: 20912
2021 March: 16517
2021 April: 23979
2021 May: 22708
2021 June: 14106
2021 July: 14481
2021 August: 6735
2021 September: 4535
2021 October: 4758
2021 November: 7149
2021 December: 9745
2022 January: 19026
2022 February: 18694
2022 March: 27416
2022 April: 24127
2022 May: 16496
2022 June: 11236
2022 July: 15371
Some observations: It was relatively slow until April 2020, when it hit 5-digit numbers. Every single month from April 2020 to July 2021 was 5-digit. August 2021 to December 2021 had much lower messages, having even less than 2019. Every single month of 2022 has a 5-digit message count. The month with the highest amount of messages is September 2020 (77k), and the lowest is September 2021 (4k). Overall, it seems the message count has very little to do with the popularity of the game or the game's lore
That would be actual awesome cause they could drop even the smallest little bit of lore in em
if they don’t do them then worst case scenario is i can make fake leaks
Like a cute little short story for performance when it was introduced, for example? that would be. I would kill for it genuinely. Would not be the same for the years to come
Considering they make poem for every merch, that's something TGC could do for future seasons honestly
salem i can’t remember did i ever send my performance poem in a server where you could see it
my friends are really good at making amazing poems and short story fics and I love them just as much, I’m just curious at the kind of lore canon ones would show,
YOU DIDNT. CAN YOU PKEASE SEND IT TO ME IN THE OFHERNSERVER
?
the ofhernserver
new server name just dropped
hmmm i think i could mimick sky’s writing style pretty well, i’ve already had someone accidentally think i wrote the shattering news post poem. might be fun to make fake lore
Taking back everything nice I have ever said about you and vela bc of this bullying /j
i love messing around with sky in fanfics because there's so much room for things
i made a crossover where there was a 5th prophet who didnt believe in the light of their world, instead they prophesized of a child of destiny who would wield an otherworldly light against the corrupted king. megabird's light doesnt allow for violence, it's not in its nature, but this otherworldly light can be wielded as a weapon. because how are they supposed to stop this thing with only their candles and the power of friendship? sometimes that's not enough
this is probably just a round about way for me to write a boss fight scene with the skykid actually fighting
does anyone have a document or something i can read discussing the lore of sky
im new to the game and really would love to have a better understanding of its world and story
yes there is one!
there are some documents, but keep in mind that Sky lore is super open to interpretation so not all the information in them might 100% be correct - hence why I usually tell people to just ask abt specific topics, because for one of them it’s mostly unsourced and can lead to lots of misconceptions. also I love your name, dandelions are my favorite flower :}
lots of people send this one though! https://docs.google.com/document/d/12XSkaMV_5UYG-an_Qo37ItyKP6GaqBBA6iRqBVE2qck/edit
What do you guys think our true purpose is in Sky? Why were we summoned to help? What exactly did we help with?
To cleanse the darkness
skykids were sent to the sky kingdom to help relive spirits and help them ascend to orbit
I’d be very curious 🤨 if after you play Journey you decided… I might be on to something 🤓🙌🏼
Imagine going to eden every week
die, reborn, die, reborn over and over again
Ok hear me out y’all:
This Poem begins with “Wounds from the PAST”
My theory about Journey is those WOUNDS were the sand people crashing their world 🌎 BEFORE becoming cloud people…who then…of course…crashed that world…
The 2 cultures being linked doesn’t need to be exactly similar but for ME they are similar enough that, I’m sticking with my theory 🤓🤓🤓
So people before the children of light haven’t had wing so how the go to megabird also why the children of light need to “ascend”
It's likely that the Elders ascended the Ancestors/Spirits to Megabird when they died before the kingdom collapsed. I don't think it's confirmed, but I'm pretty sure this was done to ensure a cycle of rebirth so that life would continue on
As for why sky kids need to ascend, I'm not entirely sure. It could just be again, for rebirth and so that their life will carry on
Bro thanks for your share you knowledge about Sky we love you
I try my best, and thank you! I try to write down theory explanations as concise as possible for lore moths, but my memory sometimes fails me, hence why I make an effort to say that it's all uncomfirmed
Speaking of which, I might write down common theories in here in a document like the "introduction" one. It'd save my memory storage space
I am not a moth but before I enter to the server I had only few talks about lore so I am learning a lot
i love learning abt sky’s lore
Same here
Do y'all think that the old and new intro gives different lore?

I pasted this timeline together...
Personally I think it's two sides of the same coin
like two different perspectives on the same story?

I've been reading past mesages and all I have to say is this guys, lore is fun, and chatting about theorys iis fun too. But please don't fabricate things out of thin air. It is unamaginarive, sloppy, and theft of someone else's copyrighted plan. We all love sky, and it is already someone's idea, dont rip off what we all love. Keep it in the realm of sky and the content that is already there.
Could you be more specific ? Not sure what you meant.
Hehehe, the way I see it, if the devs changed it, then its no longer the same as it was. So forget what it used to say it doesn't say that anymore. Hehehe, so it would be best to go with the new version of the story, as the old version is no longer Canon. Don't try to dissect it and study it. Just take it as it is. So in short, the stars fled the heavens because of darkness and they made thier home in the clouds, the darkness followed and bam now we have to fix the problem. The real question is who caused this calamity, and why would they destroy a peaceful society? Was it a peaceful society, if it was an industrial one? Such questions are more important to me hehehege
To understand what the kingdom of sky looked like, I sudgest you watch the switch trailer. In those few minutes, most of your questions would be answered.
All we can say for certain, is there was no warning. Just BAM!! and it was all over
No warning ? Hmmm not sure about that, I recall a dev saying what would cause the downfall of the kingdom was pretty obvious to ancestors as the end came. Lemme see if I can find it.
But i still wonder what the " if only they had listened " sentence means in the old intro. It could be the one telling the story's warning. But, about what particularly. The darkness fell before then, and the spirits was warned
Boom
Yes, there were signs that something was coming, but when the calamity happened, it hit so fast nobody had time to react. And it was so devistating and over so fast, and in a "blink" everything was decimated. The season of shattering I believe is a perfect depiction of what happened all those years ago, just on a much much bigger scale. Eden looks like it was hit by a nuke. And almost every building close to eden was destroyed too. So yea BAM, and everyone's dead before they could blink.
It is also possible the ancestor or rather elders created the darkness. They destroyed there home, built a new one and messed it all up all over again. "didn't listen"
Btw if you're talking about the intro, Ash did kinda confirm all the versions are different facets of the same story that were changed to be clearer or translate better, so I think old intros are worth consideration (though maybe not the light awaits one but even then, it's a source of ideas).
Also this is lore chat, of course we will dissect and study everything
I wouldn't say that everyone immediately died from the Eden explosion. The Performance Spirits seem to have survived the calamity, as they have a painting in the Hamony Hall that depicts Eden erupting. Of course, they could have just painted it as spirits, but it seems like it had been there for a long time
We don't know for sure what happened in the end, the poems seems to imply that darkness raining on the realms came out of the mountain because it could not hold it any longer. There's concept art for the animation that features pipes visible from afar on it too, so...
The spirits from season of performance are spirits, not phisicaly beings. That is why the music shop has dirt on the floors and missing tiles. If they were alive I'm sure they would of fixed the place up.
I think that's their point, that the Eden backdrop was painted while they were alive.
Yes like this current season. Can you run from a tunami, or a hurricane? Can you dodge lightning? Yea they saw their death coming for them, but it was already to late. I don't think any place survived the blast 100% but I am 100% that during that calamity everyone died within a span of a few minutes. It takes about 5 min for a shard to land anywhere in the kingdom. So like I said BAM! 5 min later nobody's left.
The elders didn't listen, and the citizens couldn't run from the fate of being crushed by shards. That would explain why we find dark plants almost everywhere in sky
Do you believe the events of performance are just a memory we're reliving?
Nah. In my headcanons we're helping them put on one last play they never got to do before dying so that they can move on !
So that means they can interact with physical objects because we do see them interacting with levers and stuff
So maybe it is possible they could've painted the backdrops while dead(?)
Yes, we relive spirit memories. And like this season, and every season before, every quest is spirit memory or directly related to a spirit memory.
The way I see it is phisicaly or spiritual, their consciousness still remains.
But you have no way to prove you're 100% right on a sudden death of the kingdom, it can be your theory but it does have some stuff that could be used against it, such as the flight guide escaping the world to build something closer to their dreams.
While it’s possible the Eden calamity could have killed everyone within proximity to Eden instantly like a nuke, there the further you go out from the blast zone, the more the power dissipates and the less damage it causes. For the Eden calamity to have killed everyone in the kingdom, we’re talking about a massive explosion where the center would be unrecognizable. A blast like that, there would be no Eden, there would be no Eden mountain. There wouldn’t be any form of life anywhere.
While it’s possible the Eden calamity killed everyone in the kingdom then and there, it is not the only possibly nor the likeliest.
This is my theory though, I recall Ash liking the idea of skykids telling the spirits about Eden after saying the backdrop's presence was for gameplay reasons so that we get all 7 realms !
This season of shattering is my proof. Imagine thousands of shards falling all at the same time all over the kingdom. Would be like earth being bashed my a meteor storm of asteroids as big as cars. All over all at once. Have you seen what happens if you drop a brick from 1 km up in the air. It falls and smashes the ground like a bomb, sounds like thunder and leaves a create much bigger than itself.
Lore question: Is it just me or does it look like King is fighting someone?
Refer to what Alasdair said.
We don't know how hard those shards fell. If they fell as hard as you say the entire land would be just a bunch of craters yet a lot of it is intact (or as intact as something abandoned for several centuries can be)
Hmm OK, then take this into consideration. If the kingdom was destroyed and everyone on it. Then the kingdom of sky itself is a spirit memory of sorts. Sky is not a phisicaly realm, but more of a spiritual one. So it stands to reason that spirits can interact with the world too. Traveling spirits,,,, traveling SPIRITS. They spirits but yet we get clothes from them and all sorts of goodies.
Except the shards don’t fall at the same time and there are not a lot of them. Granted, if the Eden eruptions occurred while the ancestors were alive, they could’ve been more powerful and impactful, but they seem not to be. As Leon said, there would be craters and perhaps a lot more leftover shards if “millions” of them fell and nobody was alive to lean up like skykids do. There are also areas that, while abandoned and derelict, are still standing. If the initial Eden calamity was enough to kill everyone instantly regardless of proximity to Eden or shelter, the damage we would see now would be much much much worse than what is currently present.
My theory is that the Eden cataclysm was not shards falling from the sky as in shattering, I believe it could have been a smaller rock rain not unlike in PNR, while the outer parts of the kingdom like prairie and isle were affected indirectly rather than being directly hit by the rain
And also the elders all died for some unknown reason which could've contributed
I feel the end of the sky kingdom is a topic that revolves around a lot of headcanon, like we know the storm happened, the blast a popular theory, there’s the likely war and the desertification of isle, there’s a bunch of events that occured but it’s hard to say an exact timeline of them, so it’s mostly headcanon and not a for sure this happened in this order
The real question is who caused this calamity, and why would they destroy a peaceful society? Was it a peaceful society, if it was an industrial one? Such questions are more important to me hehehege
Unfortunately those answers haven't been given to us, so we make do with headcanons. Personally, I don't really agree with finding a single entity to blame for the fall of the kingdom, because it would just be putting a Big Bad Evil Guy trope there when TGC wants to transcend the Hero's journey (which typically includes the BBEG trope).
They only falling one at a time now during this season. That doesn't mean that the same happened during the calamity. We are not facing an apocolyptic calamity right now, but rather the after shock.
Of course there is a big bad. Good guys don't kill on a mass scale. Unless the elders caused the calamity in the first place. In which case the elders are the big bads.
Yes the Eden eruptions now could be considerably milder than what they might have been during the ancestors era, but we would see the consequences of such if it were true.
There is such so many mights, maybes, could bes, and speculations that there is no way to say with confidence that so and so happened without explicit confirmation or heavy solid evidence to support a theory
Pollution and nuclear accidents don't require a BBEG to cause mass destruction
AITA for accidentally exploding my whole kingdom
OK the dark plants, are a good back up. Everytime a shard falls, dark plants grow immediately., from rainforest there are dark plants everywhere. I believe everyplace you find a dark plant is where a shard fell. Over time the shards eroded away due to the elements, leavingbinly the dark plants.
There are no big bads, because the calamity was a result of ignorance and collective fault
It was society's inability to correct it's mistakes that caused the disaster
Yes they do cause onky a big bad would drop a nuke in the first place nomatter the circumstances
???
Pollution and nuclear disasters don't require nukes lol
The shards are more like
just big rocks
a nuke isn't even comparable
But yea, I agree that the calamity could of been an accident. But in order to crwat something that would hold that much power is in itself madness.
I think you don’t know what a nuke is
Nuke is shorthand for nuclear bomb
If it's
Not nuclear
Not a bomb
It's not a nuke
Shards are more comparable to something like Chemical weapons (if you see darkness as a hazardous chemical)
Not everything nuclear is a nuke, deaths due to that stuff can be caused without being meant.
Example: That one nuclear factory in Ukraine whose name is likely censored due to crude jokes.
“Good guys don’t do bad things,” but good guys are not perfect beings with omniscience able to do the right thing all the time. That’s boring storytelling. Instead, people make mistakes, they do “bad things” believing it’s for the greater good, people are deceived, their actions have consequences they didn’t foresee.
If there is a “big bad” in Sky, it is the consequences, not the actions, in attempts to do good. There’s a thought that the Eden diamond was constructed to save the ancestors from a precursor apocalypse, to be an infinite energy or light source to people suffering from darkness, but something went wrong that wasn’t planned. The Eden diamond corrupted somehow and let loose a deluge of darkness but likely was unintentional. As you can see from the new Eden mural, the Eden diamond was being praised. It was meant to do good from the start. But obviously something went wrong on par that there are mechanical errors that cause engines to fail, human error that causes car crashes, and unforeseen factors that cause overflow.
Bad things can happen without any antagonistic force triggering it. Catastrophic errors can happen without any powerful malignant entity acting or even existing. The larger your project, the more devastating the consequences will be when something goes wrong.
Go on YouTube and search fropping heavy things off high places. If I had to stand on top of a 30 story building and drop a brick over the edge, that brick ends up causing more damage than a shotgun blast. Now these shards are made of crystals and stones or whatever. Now a thousands upon thousands of shards falling at the same time, is not nuclear but is just as devistating.
Nukes decimate an entire area and leave it uninhabitable for centuries afterward. Their damage is instant and leaves a huge impact long after the explosion. These shards just create darkness at a rapid rate and can be easily reversed, unlike nuclear explosions. I have strong feelings about the word "nuke" used in this context because it's clearly not one, firstly, and secondly that significantly downplays the actual horror of nukes in real life. There's a reason why we rarely use them, there's a reason why we can only have so many bombs in certain countries that can afford them. To compare nukes to something like this is not only inaccurate but dangerous
Weren’t you the one who brought it up?
This is what a nuclear explosion from a nuke looks like: https://youtu.be/YtCTzbh4mNQ
The Eden eruption may resemble that, but the shards themselves are not.
If a meteor the size of a battleship had to plumit into a city, there would be no city left. That is phisics. The bigger the object the more devistating the impact. Nukes are created from splitting attoms. You split attoms by crushing them, or crashing them into each other. With enough speed and enough mass, Boooooooooom!!! Makes nukes look like grenades
It was Hypoch actually
Sky logic does not necessarily apply to real world physics.
Otherwise the game would practically not exist at all.
Hey I'm not saying it was nuclear, I'm saying that the force of more than 1000 shards at once, would be just as bad. As for eden, it does look like a huge explosion happened. Have you seen pics of Hiroshima? Some parts of the building remained, everything was destroyed. The blast was so strong that people's shadows got burnt onto the walls. Now we look at eden, everything is destroyed, with little petrified statues of spirits. Even if it wasn't nuclear, it ended up being way worse in any case. If 1 meteor and I mean a real meteor not these little meteorites we call shooting stars, had to hit earth, no more earth. Now 50 1 km wide meteors hit earth. It would make a nuke look like a fire cracker. The calamity was devistating like that. Or at least that's my theory. That is why I said the season of shattering is a perfect depiction of the calamity just more family friendly. Dark plants grow wherever the shards land, that would explain all the dark plants scattered around the kingdom. Simple phisics, with thousands of shards falling simultaneously, would explain why the old world lies in ruins.
ok
There are still some parts that are mostly standing, like Valley and Vault
Also there are a lot of structures in Eden that do not resemble the leftover obliteration at nuclear bombs drop sites. There is destruction, yes, but there is not obliteration
True.
Just because one kingdom has been destroyed (like eden), does not mean other places have the same amount of destruction.
We don't know what the world of sky is like as a whole, we only have parts of it that we can explore.
Off topic lore question: Why do spirits have inanimate objects? Like necklaces, instruments, hats, etc.?
I would also like to add that Eden has statues of Vault scholars (I assume from their headpieces) that still stand in PNR. If it was really a nuclear-like explosion, there'd be nothing in that vicinity at all (probably not even the petrified statues), just flat land and the diamond
I can pull up pictures of said statues if you don't believe me by the way, I have plenty of them, all at different angles and distances
Likely because they wore them before dying, but perhaps that's not exactly what you meant ?
Each kingdom is at a different altitude. Starting from the ground and accending upwards to eden. And visa versa. The further you get from a blast zone the less damage. And still sanctuary for a ample is not at the same level as the rest of Prairie. So prairie took most of the impact as where sanctuary was hidden behind it or rather below it.
Ghosts in fiction and real light can be seen wearing clothing.
Perhaps in the world of sky, some memories and times a ghist uses an object, or interacts with the terrain, they instead get to interact with a spectral version of the event.
Though this is not always the case when comparing the Abyss' final cutscene featuring a spectral boat for the canoneer, while the Flight spirits had physicsl boats.
Either those are light/spirit projections of their identity/person/what they were wearing or they are physical objects. Spirits can interact with the physical world as seen from the Abyss crew carrying diamonds or Stagehand managing the stage or Performance guide interacting with the door in Harmony Hall before the practice room opened.
The main reason I asked that question, is that, is it a part of the ancestor's soul/spirit? Or, like the memories, the most defining thing they have?
I'm sorry why are yall talking about nukes?
Hypoch thinks Eden was nuked
Fair point.
Although it is seemingly not a consistent gradient of damage.
Places like Dawn looks very much barren while the teaser trailer showed tents.
There’s a trope/thought that ghosts will resemble what they looked like when they died or their ideal forms as a projection of their self not impeded by less-flexible materiality. It could be possible that Forgetful Storyteller died in their jester outfit or they didn’t yet their true form, their internal self, is a clown.
my theory is that, along with the memory, our skykid thinks that it is their defining feature. i dont think the spirits were called what we call them now
“hey, dancing performer! come over here and help peeking postman, would you?”
im sorry if this doesn’t make any sense
clowning even in the afterlife <3
Oh that's an interesting question ! My take is that since we're gathering memories when saving them, then it must be things they recognize as themselves, such as Cheerful Spectator remembering they have an afro and were a pianist ! You can even complete the picture by reliving Bearhug hermits memory where you can spot them talking with Leaping Dancer, and Mellow Musician's where you learn they formed a band with Twirling Champion !
No, you misunderstand. Eden blew up, like a baloon popping. And shrapnel or shards, descended towards the rest of the kingdom. With more than 100 shards falling at once, you looking at a devistating impact. Again I'll explain it like this. If I dropped a brick off a 30 story building at an armored vehicle, it would cause more damage than a shotgun blast. The bigger the object that is falling the bigger the impact, the bigger the force from the impact. It wasn't nuclear but it was darn near close to it.
(From irl ghosts), they tend to forget what their actual name was, depending on how long they are dead in that realm, and they adopt the name living people give them
So perhaps it's that same for Sky
irl ghosts
That’s very debatable /lh
If a 1km asteroid hit the earth, the impact would be greater than that of a nuke. Just an example. Now imagine 1000s of shards or rocks falling down on the kingdom of sky. That would be like being bombarded with bombs.
Sorry to bother you on this, but what exactly in Eden do you think exploded?
Or just spirits who can't find themselves to the afterlife (my brain uses "ghosts" for short)
Except it’s not certain whether thousands of shards fell from the initial Eden calamity
Also @sharp lichen when are you going to pay back your debt the bank's gonna seize your house at this rate
Even if your theory is correct, we'd still be seeing the shards all throughout the kingdom. Perhaps not as prominent as is with Shattering, but at least partially buried and with dark plants surrounding them, since they'd never be cleansed. Keep in mind that these shards probably wouldn't be able to be cleansed as efficiently as we're able to, and if that's the case then the kingdom would be far from the desolate place we know today. This setting would just be apocalyptic, while the setting we have currently is more 'lonely'
(also, regarding the Eden explosion discussion), not to mention the amount of creatures corrupted, specifically talking about crabs, makes me wonder if it's like insects controlled by fungi, they further spread the shards (just speculation)
No because rocks erode over time. And we all know with the wind conditions in sky, time of erosion would be sped up. So over the years the shards disintegrated and eroded.
Just noticed this, but why is there no temple before the calamity, but after the calamity? Was it some sort of memorial? If everybody died during the calamity, who built it?
Maybe thats the only thing that didnt break?
Here is my proof that eden had some sort of temple. And it's not the only mural that depicts it. The mural in the beginning of eden also shows a sort of temple. Or at least that's what I see.
actually there is a temple, it just blends in really well with the clouds
i can outline if needed
I actually saw it a few seconds after I posted the message
But the question is still the same, if it was there before, why has it moved, who moved it there?
Looks like the vault summit inside, with memory cubes below and night elder on the left
Maybe, but still. If every elder had a temple then the eden elder had one too. And I'm sure the eye of eden was housed inside it.
Don't you see the gem in the top of the pirimid?
Maybe the temple didn't move but isle became a desert over time and it's the only thing left standing ?
Ok, I might not be so sure about this, but coming from Skykid who hasn't done Eden in 2+ months, I swear I saw some sort of structure in pnr
Once tried to go inside, but couldn't enter it, no surprise
i was thinking along the same lines as vela
In the "before" picture, it's farther than the "after" picture, explaining why I didn't immediately see it
Fair, you can still see some docks though !
It’s thoughts that the Cave of Prophecy murals depict Chosen One establishing Eden and the realms as they were in their heyday rather than the Eden calamity.
how come we can see stuff in vault a lot better through cosmic mantas? are they made of some sort of secret spyglass material
Another name for them is Spirit Manta !
There are some structures in stormlock that could’ve been part of something massive, perhaps resembling what we see during ascension
Oooooo are we talking about why isle looks so deserted? I love talking about this! My personal explanation is that it desertified over time; you can see the same landmarks in the grassland switch trailer as you can in the actual realm itself, namely the giant stack of rocks that you fly to the temple from. Because of this desertification combined with how buried most of the remnants of civilization are, my idea is that isle was abandoned earlier than the other realms because the desertification made it uninhabitable. (Although you can live in deserts, the general idea is that being a grassland society isle was not equipped for the change at All)
Another thing to note is that the performance second quest as well as where we find candlemaker and the prophecy spirits implied isle ancestors mainly lived in natural caves, meaning that they wouldn’t need as much architecture for themselves! Which makes it look even more desolate.
I'd say its an inconsistency
You can also see these structures when you deep call
I know it’s probably an aesthetic thing, but the idea of glasses mantas are too funny for me to ignore
There is? In dawn yes
||after the calamity hehe||
The gates me think that the eye of eden (stormlockl area would have been the entrance to the realm'selder temple, while the acsension section would have been the temple.
Makes me wonder if vault is the void realm that Eden was ripped out of and vault and eden's temple were either the same place or just a duplicate set (like twin temples)
Chill sunbather got manta sunglasses, everything is possible
Im gonna go sneep snorp, bye lore chat
night myst! sneep well
Could go well with Isle Elder being excluded at some point & the headcanon elders and their realms reflect eachother
do we see the isle temple in the switch trailer? I can’t remember at all.
another point to note is that even if we didn’t, that still doesn’t mean it was only built after the disaster. the events in the trailer are stated to take place centuries before we arrive, leaving lots of time open for that to happen. also, with everyone in itnmoving and only temporary structures being visible (like, the kind you set up when you haven’t finished making your Actual house) they could have just been moving into isle and hadn’t fully set it up yet
Very interesting. It's certainly not a necessarily bad idea, but I think you might be overestimating just how much shrapnel could be produced & spread as a result of a temple's destruction along with the magnitude of a blast from the gem at eden's center as, if the explosion was as apocalyptic as you're suggesting, then wouldn't things such as the scholar statues around the eye of eden have suffered more severe damage (being rendered more unrecognizable)? Beyond that a temple is only made of so many bricks & unless it was the size of the moutain itself & made of some very durable material, the shrapnel from such an explosion would only be capable of reaching so far before rapidly losing altitude & descending, scattering greatly in the process and being relatively unlikely to have hit anything.
Once upon a time everything was good until darkness came upon the sky and then a skykid bashed to the ground, they were the 4th, there was 6 realms: daylight prairie, the hidden forest, valley of triumph, golden wasteland, vault of knowledge, the most dangerous was... Eye of Eden, that sky kid had to explore just for some light? Damnnn, when that sky kid reached eye of Eden it ran out of wings and died to hevun, the end of lore
Lore. Made by the amazing vocaloidian: sumeru
That’s my headcanon reason as to why it desertified in the first place!! At first I was considering it to be a result of overfarming or other similar exploitation of the land, but I don’t think that that would fit for isle tbh
Imagine the rubble from not just a temple but a whole city, hurdling through the air in all direction.
Yes, you can
Goes somewhere else
(I also wanna add as a slight tidbit that there's no guarantee that the desertification of isle was the result of the calamity the destroyed the kingdom rather then say, the stars falling or the pollution the kingdom was already engaging in.)
i cant be the only one who likes to just stare at isle before it was a desert
The "desertification" irony both hurts my heart and fuels it as someone who absolutely WORSHIPS wordplay
thank you!! I couldn’t fully remember and didn’t feel up to rewatching it, although the possibility that it wasn’t there gave me the idea above :]
True not for Isle or prairie. With the light cut off the nomads that lived on the outskirts of the kingdom, died from lack of recources. As the lush environment became barren and desolate.
Okay, evidence?
I would assume all plant life is Light as well. Especially because we see in the switch trailer that flowers seem to give off pollen/spores made of Light.
Evidence. Seeing as the plants glow, they probably made of light. No more light no more plants.
i meant if you had evidence that the light cut off and was the cause of the desertification
There’s still light in Isle
Yes the entire existence of sky is proof and evidence. Our role in the game is to bring the light back to sky.
Then the explosion would need to have been even more powerful, something atleast in my opinion would have left eden as a far more desolate place then it is now (with things such the scholar statues, like I mentioned before, being far more disfigured or downright destroyed)
SAME. I’m really hoping we get a view of pre disaster wasteland as well, I remember seeing the switch trailer for the first time and tearing up because the comparison to what we saw in game emotioanlly stabbed me. Reconstructions of places now in ruins always get me
Dude eden is as desolate as it gets, constant shard hail, heavy winds no life of any kind. No structures, nothing. Just rubble and ruins
I think what Strega means is that there would be no structures. Eden wouldn’t even be there
now i wanna go write about the kingdom of sky before it went to ruins
The statues that are in PNR are huge and still recognisable though????
Not true. Have you guys seen the results of a nuke on a city? Some remenatnts of what used to be buildings remain. Now with eden, it was the center of thier civilisation, which means that the main city used to stand there around the eden elders temple. There is no more city, no more temple. A few structures still stand, but havnt you noticed the rocks you hide behind to get away from the hail are all jagged, that is rubble from the buildings that used to exist. So it might not have been nuclear but it was catastrophic.
Did nobody wonder why there are lamps in eden next to almost every pile of rocks? If we go to valley of triumph, the houses by the village, every single house has a lamp in front.
That may be skykids that left them there to help each other recover.
(Lorewise, though I like to think that the devs were taking notes of skykids using props to get out of sticky situations and these new braziers are their way of helping players that may not have had props, or were able to access ones other players left behind).
Look at China, they have huge stone statues, that have existed for hundreds of years. Dispite exposure to natural elements.
Yes, but the result of a nuclear explosion on a city is mostly radial damage that diminishes over longer distances which isn't what we see in eden. As a matter of fact I'd venture as far as to say that the area surrounding the gem is perhaps one of the most intact parts of the entire region, which considering the fact that said area is also closest to the supposed epicenter of the blast wouldn't make any sense
This isn't about exposure to natural elements? The statues in PNR would have been decimated if your theory of Eden violently erupting is correct
I can't agree with that. If that was the case then we as players would have to place them there ourselves or have the option to add new ones, but they are already there.
sorry, can I ask what we’re debating about again? is it that the Eden explosion worked exactly like a human nuke? That seems kinda silly, considering it’s a completely different universe
Which would explain why Isle of dawn and prairie are basically unscaved.
But it wouldn't explain why the center of eden is also (atleast somewhat) intact
Well my argument is that, the calamity, was powerful, and season of shattering gives us a glimpse of what it was like. I believe the calamity was like it just on a much grander scale. That the force of eden going boom, sent shards flying across the realm. And everyone is asking me questions, that are and aren't related to my theory hehehe.
correct me if I’m wrong but, nukes are so devastating because they’re built to be… why would you put a fantasy equivalent of a nuke (assuming that it works the exact same way) in the middle of Eden and have it be praised in an Eden mural we find later? Sorry I’m just lost, I don’t get this at all
I understand what you mean, hence why I added the lore tag to it.
In the game, us skykids cannot make permanent changes to an area, unless it is related to a season quest.
Therefore, if the quests imply that skykids can make small changes for the spirits (like restore the forgotten ark, build a treehouse or help the spirits in the wind paths), then the lore may also include small instances like extra braziers being placed down to help skykids. Seeing they are the only light creature there benefiting from them.
also the statues that you meditate at to go home, would be a really hard time proving that ancestors built those instead of us!
the spirits might have built them at our request but that also leaves open the possibility for the same to be true in Eden, so.
due to the number of recognizable structures remaining in Eden, it would not make sense for anything to equivalent to the power of a nuclear bomb to have gone off in Eden due to the amount of obliteration nukes cause.
for context, this is the aftermath of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, a nuke that was a lot more rudimentary than modern nukes. Eden does not look like this.
You goto read the messages before, I explained, that I'm not saying it was nuclear. I'm saying the blast was so strong that it sent the temple and the city flying in little big pieces all over sky. Those 1thousands of shards falling at the same time, destroyed the inferstructure. And the force of all those shards were as bad as meteor collisions. Everyone is twisting my words around probably because they don't like my theory. Hehehehe
Hypoch if that were true, wouldn’t there be a lot more craters scattered around Wasteland since it’s beneath Eden?
wait, first the explosion was as bad as nuke, now the shard collisions were as bad as meteors? sorry I’m getting a bit of a headache here, what are we actually comparing it to again
Idk honestly Hypoch’s jumping the topic around a lot.
Alright, semantics aside, Eden has been 'nuked' (figuratively).
We can all agree that any structure there has either been blown to smithereens or barely stands at all. We can agree that the place would more likely than ever be salvageable as long as the storm is going as strong as it is. And with the eruptions now spewing from it, there seems to be more things going on that us skykids have yet to learn about.
Whether that being something good, or bad, would have to be open to interpretation and a case of WAFO.
as well as fallen bits of architecture and leftover shards. neither of which we see scattered around
I see a building in the Pic. It didn't destroy everything did it. Like the statues in eden. But then again and let me make this very clear for everyone. I'M NOT SAYING EDEN WENT NUCLEAR! CALM DOWN AND READ THE WHOLE MESSAGE NOT JUST THE FIRST SENTANCE HEHEHEHEHE 😂 has anyone seen those movies where meteor storms collide with earth, that is what I'm trying to depict to everyone. NOT NUKES!
Hypoch, I advise that if you're so married to this idea of Eden it'd be more of a headcanon than an actual theory. There's too much speculation and too little evidence within the realms that doesn't contradict previous points you yourself have made
Hehehe love you all, but calm the hell down and read properly hahahahaha
But you literally said it was like a nuke. You’re the one twisting your own words, not us.
I said like a nuke, like it, not the same as a nuke hehehehe
I am reading your messages in full. I am reading properly. you're saying the Eden was nuked and also that the Eden calamity was not a nuke but on par with a nuke then saying it was a nuke again. you not being consistent. I have a MFA in creative writing, I am damn sure I can read properly
if you want to be taken seriously, I strongly advise not insulting us
Hypoch, sharing a theory is one thing, but saying something is one thing then immediately contradicting yourself by saying it was something else, and then trying to shift blame onto us and claim we’re not reading it properly is very very rude.
What do you guys think of the boats in Wasteland?
There are so many different kinds that it makes me wonder.
Were these boats here because Wasteland is/was the boat capital (which would be sad if Dawn lost their Ferryman statis). Or if there was a reason to send so many ancestors to, or through, wasteland.
Hypoch, I'm very much on my last strands of patience and can really only stand seeing so many messages of you trying to prove your point while also contradicting both yourself and what's in-game.
There's factually too little evidence that supports your theory without it being contradictory, like I said previously. If you're so married to this idea, then leave it as a headcanon and not a theory
Besides, I'm tired of seeing the same recycled, contradictory points to this theory. I feel like this has been dragged out long enough
Agreed, lets move on to a different topic.
It is not worth arguing over the same thing that has already been dismissed.
OK guys, OK. I did contridict myself there. But with so many people twisting my words, and me trying to explain my piont to everyone, it got jumbled. I'll rewrite my theory and get back to you. I apologize for the confusion. Hehehe
I don't think people are twisting your words tbh...
I think there are different boats for different things! Some are for carrying cargo, some are for carrying passengers, some can do both, and many more varieties.
we've been on your idea, following you jumping around, for two hours now. I think we've talked enough about it
Yeah! Headcanons can be super valuable as well, it’s ok to have them. Most of my favorite perceptions of this world are through my own headcanons vs fully thought out theories.
Agreed. Small ones, larger ones in the wasteland (that I dont recall ever seen in use, other than the Abyss ship), and even the largest vessels like the forgotten ark and crabfield shipwreck.
perhaps wasteland (and i suppose vault) was disconnected from the sky kingdom? we have to fly a kind of long distance to reach the wasteland social area. and wasteland itself seems to be sealed off by mountains/surrounded by water. so maybe the ancestors used them to simply travel
why would they go there and why were there so many kinds of boats i dont really know
We did not twist your words. We have been patient with you and you keep trying to insist that we are incapable of comprehending something when in reality you are constantly trying to change what you say and complaining when we call you out about it.
I think it's a bit frustrating when people present their theories as canon and everyone else just can't see what you see when the lore of Sky is made to be vague and allow interpretation.
That's understandable
I hope nobody came off as too harsh during that conversation. Feel free to come back once you're ready
This is well. I personally really dislike when people present their theory as the only possible one ever, no matter how much evidence is behind it. Even when I talk about stuff that’s almost certainly true I do my best to put in disclaimers that it could be wrong, as the lore of this game is so vague/open to interpretations. Just something to keep in mind
thats something i like about sky lore. it allows for my random nonsense
Just putting it out as well, a theory stops being a theory when it becomes easily debunkable and when there are obvious points where the theory is either inaccurate or contradictory. This can become a headcanon, of course, and there's nothing wrong with that. But presenting it as a valid theory when it really doesn't have any 'foothold' will cause a lot of misinformation for those trying to get into the lore and also for the greater narrative of the story in general
The endless duality of wanting more canon info on the lore to be fed with and also wanting there to be enough room for your wild headcanons
You can see another darkstone production factory off in the distance if you go to the left past the Fainting Warrior. It seems to be mostly intact. Maybe we’ll be able to visit it by boat someday?
inb4 the sky animation comes out and it shows Crab Whisperer as a normal posh person
Sky is a game that tries to take things in a different direction.
Instead of combat and loot tables, we have candle running and traveling spirits.
Instead of a fixed lore that is thrown at player's faces should they not know it, it is vague and open ended to accomodate thoeries of what may be canon, as well as fan theories.
Even the spirits, elders and skykids can have fandoms around them, though players dont have to be caught up in them. Seeing that they are fanart.
There is no such thing as a "normal" posh person
I was hoping to design a fan season based off that structure! My main motivation is basically having working turrets be canon to sky
DoB 2022 proves Crab Whisperer is evil, queer, unhinged or all of that.
I bet they’ll be Krill laser pointers lol
like, a basic posh person. Like a "checks all the boxes" kind of posh. If that happens, the channel will collapse
Crab Whisperer could've been posh but gave all that up to rummage in the Wasteland. good for them
days of…?
Bloom
I got COMPLETELY distracted so this is late but do you mind explaining the wordplay? I am not very smart atm as I have just woken up and not eaten yet
They deserted Isle because it was becoming uninhabitable and it turned into a desert.
OH MY GOD. HOW DID I MISS THAT
i missed it too
and its almost lunch
Beloved
DFT Crab Whisperer wanting to cut off heads, good for them
Ay get rid of the green heart
Will never forget when I witnessed them beat up vela right in front of me
OK I was wrong. I contradicted myself. Sorry.
If I may share a tidbit from art history philosophy understood in university.
A hypothesis is an idea with no proof, though is presented in a way to allow people to debate on it (either debunking it, changing it, or graduating to a theory)
A theory is an idea that has some proof to it, though is not proven to be fact (again, the same process is followed.)
And finally, you get confirmed, plausible and busted theories.
These are theories that have either been proven to be true (fact), a possibility though still up for debate, or then busted and blown out of the water.
One can have headcanons, or conspiracies, though these are to be treated as biased theories, which may have some truth to them, though can be difficult to introduce in debates, as not everyone would agree with them.
do you have footage of that
i want to see
I spread my love through greenery
UNFORTUNATELY NO BECAUSE IT HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY but Vela can also confirm this
it sounds hilarious
They also just do this. Amazing
I did catch that tho. A menace.
jumpscare
gosh why did i not play sky during days of bloom
I didn’t really connect that what I witnessed was the second time it occurred until now, which makes it even funnier
Vela's backstory reveal
this week’s TS is mildy afraid of one spirit in their season group
If I met Crab Whisperer I'd run very fast towards them with mischievous intent and tackle them.
moldy afraid
A witness to a crime, but cannot testify to it, your honour.
that’s how you get bitten
You're assuming I'm a coward.
Get a rabies vaccine before you do 👍
You did not apologize for trying to shift blame onto us for calling you out on your constant contradictions. I do not particularly appreciate people insinuating I can’t comprehend something to try and deflect away from the topic. Either give us a full apology, or don't give us one at all.
@frigid tinsel do you have my mod-approved doodle of CW going "Oops ! Let me just clean that up 😊" ?
Adding onto that, the other Elders "deserted" the Isle Elder. And if we go off the thought that the Elders reflect their realms and vice versa...
Not the Skycord-safe one but I think I can track it down
What could I ever do without you. I'm trying to find it too.
I'm scared
Found 👍
you can still see the hints of red where the blood was erased, which really adds to this doodle in every possible way
the what-
SHHH DON'T SAY THAT
Crab Whisperer after committing yeet moth into the path of a Krill
Don’t worry about it! :]
:]
Fun fact: “blood” has not been said that often in this channel
Crab whisper is responsible for the cold case of 06'
i looked it up. 15 pages
i also looked up elder. 1300
At least during my time here
Then we must change that
there's a skycord UN-safe one????
Don’t worry about it :]
Lore chat likes talking about old people confirmed
speaking of that I wonder what the stuff coming off the Krills is? Is it like darkness flakes? Do Krills seed dark plants and that’s why they grow back the next time you go to Wasteland?
the actual number is 1,361 pages of “elder”
do skykids even have blood
I’ve seen that as flakes of darkness shedding off of them. You can see darkness flakes on darkness plants, hostile crabs, and flying around in Eden
Probably not, but whether ancestors do is debatable (I personally think they work like skykids but honestly it’s vague enough that you can do whatever with it)
Nope, they’re made of clay
the noises krill give off sound so industrial
Have you heard the scrapped krill call yet? It’s terrifying
edit: let me try to find it!
they might leak liquid Light. I also remember seeing a theory that the blue crystals that grow on us in certain situations are crystalized Light from our core being damaged.
Skykids are likely hollow and full of light. Since that light is immaterial, I like to think it doesn’t bleed out of them like liquid but rather shine out of wounds like sunrays.
I actually have a fic excerpt for this, hold on
me taking notes for an animatic that i'm gonna dream about and never end up actually making
OBLIGATORY ALASDAIR FIC DROP OBLIGATORY ALASDAIR FIC DROP OBLIGATORY ALASDAIR FIC DROP-
yooooo
Context: this is a flashback to when Hikemasu was krilled for the first time.
There are other examples in the fic but they are not Skycord-safe
https://twitter.com/lifeofluxuri/status/954604224838545408 a video of it is in this Twitter post
The pain of wanting to show more but understanding that body horror is not well received
If they kept this krill call in the current game I think more moths would get the memo that this is not a friendly creature
How do you look at krill now and arrive at the assumption it’s a friendly creature
It’s terrifying and definitely gives off the whole vibe of “this is a creature in constant agony”… I understand why they changed it but I’m also almost sad about it
To be fair moth me did and I'm still not sure how
truthfully i joined the game thinking that every creature loved me because i was adorable
Y’all
i remember passing the first krill area and saw graveyard
”theres more?”
We're the first to go in natural selection, we know
That's my babygirl, you wouldn't understand.
Y'all
It is cleaned up though, lol
they managed to clean up the mess :}
I'm not sure if that's good or bad if they cleaned up that mess
Can’t get a conviction with no evidence
its not illegal if you dont get caught
(They attacked the evil pirate that imprisoned them in the OG fic)
Also, CW has a vendetta against everything
context: Fritjof is Ceasing Commodore, Sigil is evil pirate OC
CW: can you behead someone with a sword?
Fritjof: ...sorry?
CW: can you behead someone with a sword?
Fritjof: ...it depends on the blade. Easier with thicker ones like broadswords, though I don’t think you have the muscle strength to do so.
CW: I want to cut off Sigil’s head.
Fritjof: I’ll support you in that endeavor.
who is the evil pirate, if i may ask?
Sigil is an OC, they kidnap lightseekers or anyone with power to work for them, ends up accidentally killing them most of the time cos their torture methods are extreme
At some point I landed right before them and they did the beat up emote, hence Salem saying they witnessed them beating me up. Top tier spirit.
That one image of them about to absolutely SMACK you into the ground forever lives in my mind rent free
ohhhh So there is more reasons to why we call Vault "Vault", these types of structures are called Vaut in architecture .... Interesting
(srry for the tag)
So this is my theory ...
Vault of Knolodge is a Rounded Vault with a dome, and sometimes a dome holds a little structure that in Architechture we call Lantern, and this "lantern" may be that little Vault ending and Eden entrance with Home portal ...
After reading back quite far, you guys did confuse hypochs words. I know that they admitted that they “contradicted” themselves but at least in the beginning you guys missed the point they were saying.
I think they were just trying to say that eden to sky was like a nuke to earth. Nukes are really devastating just like eden, but not in the same exact way bc sky is not earth and works much differently. The problem was everyone trying to bring in real world logic, thus complicating things and thus confusing further what hypoch was saying. And so it became about nukes in the real world with real world consequences
Tho there was a whole lot of invalidating going on from both sides in the very beginning too. Like remember y’all a lot of this is up for interpretation
Backreading rn and Hypoch mentioned actual nukes first then it was DemonLord/bred lord that compared SHARDS to nukes. SHARDS.
The discussion with Hypoch was, as far as I remember, mostly about there being a Big Bad Evil Guy responsible for throwing nukes when the original message mentioning nuclear stuff mentioned nuclear disasters, not nukes
Not sure where everything went after that since I kinda stopped paying attention at some point but as far as I remember it all went down like that at first
there really is no point in bringing this discussion back. it's over, we're done with it, there are more things to talk about than the impossibility of Eden being nuked
last night/this morning i went into the fun 4 am rambles about how sky is just a complicated game of rock paper scissors, i had reasonings for it and everything, dont know if thats something this chat would be interested in
Go on I'm interested
We need something to talk about rn and that description has piqued my interest very much, I’m extremely excited to see how it goes
(Hypoch)
With an opener like this, it's pretty hard to not sound incredibly grating and dismissive of other lore theories ngl, especially followed with expressing their theories as absolute truths.
I said that both sides were invalidating. That didn’t sit right with me either
