How did they get up to the observatory already
that second bit looks to be supported by murals in the isle temple
I thought that was to scare misbehaving children
wouldn’t work, skykids like being yeeted
YEAH that’s what made me think of it! I think it is a very sweet idea, I think it is also sweet to imagine that it’s behind dusks temple because they’re supposed to be protecting it
maybe they wanted to but couldn’t? they seem to be chasing these dark plants & the wl. and then there’s the poem that goes with this memory
And swept into its snare
A familiar glow that hid
Nothingness in its wake```
sky kid go sploot
also ever since the introduction of helicopter dark plants all I can imagine is young sky kids without their capes yet using the helicopter plants to hover, you know, before the desolation of the kingdom and the yeetage of our ancestors who would watch us enjoy playtime
isn't canon at all since we have zero evidence of this, but it's a nice thought
Advanced technology
do you think the void of shattering had a "human" form ever, like how does it have access memories?
no, i don't think it was ever a person. the memories are inside the shards, i think the guide is just there to help us access them
Where are these memory poems located? This is my first time seeing one
we have two of them so far, they get posted on twitter and in #vault-of-socials
There has been only 1 (or two if you count the other). [spoiler for eden]
||The eden void and the lonesome winged light in the home void (you meet this figure should you die outside of eden, yet you collect this light each time you are reborn).||
||what's home void?||
Also why didn't I just edit previous message but deleted it instead
The void you go to if you ||died but not while in PNR||
pity room
Oh ok, I thought raider only meant ||the figure when talking about death||
Are all the voids connected then, like one big afterlife space? cause there's the shattering void which takes us to the two memories and there's the pity void and the after pnr void?
do we have to spoiler eden content here?
There's also Cackling Cannoneer's void after they got eaten
I FORGOT ABOUT THAT HELL
Every void is personalized
(also no, we don't need to spoil eden content here)
uwu personalised voids
That's actually my headcanon. Voids being everyone's personal spiritual room where their true self or memories reside
There are two minor differences between the memory void and any of the death voids. In the memory void, there is a ring of rocks floating really high up and there is fog in the ground while none of those exist in any of the other death voids
I've tried reaching the donut at the top but I've never managed
Actually post-Eden limbo has darkness flakes that rise
snacks
The dust coming to trigger my allergies after I clean my desk:
Home void spoiler (not major)
||A dark space that you arrive in upon losing all of your light, while not in Eden. It is similar to how you end up in Eden with the light kid, however in its place is a lone Winged Light. This is the same winged light you collect upon rebirth, which grants you the one winged light needed to return to the realms (either brought back to life, or retroactively reborn to a lesser extend). ||
Darkness flakes in frozen memories do not move but are positioned in a swirl
Yes, this was something I noticed and took recordings of.
Eden has these swirls but in movement
interesting thing about the home void, actually, when you collect that wl your skykid does the same animation that they do whenever they receive a gift of light (buying cosmetics, unlocking stuff on friendship trees, etc etc)
everyday kids see eerie specs in the distance and everyday they just think about eating them
Had to double check, you’re right
My head is full of air rn
the true elder of eden is donut swirls
Eden is the storm of death we wish to lick.
Lick the salt of Eden and you get Black Chlorination Syndrome
I don’t know if it was a glitch or not, but last Eden trip I went with my friends, and while I was in limbo I could see their stars breaking outside. Basically confirmed limbo is inside the Diamond for me
it could be a glitch. I remember when I was doing the final Abyss quest with Echo and when we were separated to the dark room, I could still see her active chat.
Sky Kids uses telepathy, which is interpreted as honks, in communication confirmed /hj
every time we enter limbo (dying, Abyss final quest), we are falling. when we enter frozen memories of the Void of Shattering's space, we are still upright and standing.
We can also leave super easily too… I’m pretty sure they’re in the same place due to their extreme visual similarities, maybe we just leave easier because the way we enter allows us to go in without dying?
Like, the void teleports us there, giving us a fast way in and out
granted the instances I mentioned us falling into Eden is always by force, if you get what I mean – dying, being swallowed. the frozen memories and Void of Shattering space we enter intentionally by meditation.
The shattering void could be us accessing our subconscious minds. We meditate when we wanna enter and leave the place. Though, I don't know how the cosmetics we get from the blobs materialize once we leave the place
I disagree with that personally because the memories we see there are stuff we wouldn’t have seen before, and would otherwise have no way of knowing about
as Salem said, if the frozen memories and Void of Shattering space is within someone's mind, I do not think it is the skykids' since the memories are depicting things skykids have never witnessed. consider the darkness seedlings – we have never encountered those before.
I think the frozen memories are within the Void of Shattering because it reappears after clearing the darkness around red shards. we meditate in front of it enter frozen memories. likewise, perhaps the light that was contained in the memories is escaping, whether manifesting as darkness plants and crabs or in the fragments of light we collect after cleansing enough darkness. the frozen memories then are the Void of Shattering's recollection of that light.
so if we are in someone's minds, it could be within the Void of Shattering's.
I love your ideia ... I'm not good with english, but If we think about it all creature light comes from the same place and even the ancestors and skykids share something in common, being fallen stars ... I dont remember who said it, but someone shared here that light has memory, and if that is true everything under the subject of memory falls under the concept of Collective unconscious
"Collective unconscious" ...
"We are Sky, prepare to be assimilated, resistance is futile."
i have a genuine question and idk if it hasnt been answered or not, why do skykids wear masks?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
no theories though?
skykids could be wearing masks to appeal to the ancestors, though that bears that question of why ancestors wear masks. the best answer is that it is likely a cultural thing, which doesn't leave a lot to go off of
There's a theory that masks help them see because they open their eyes when they wear them
Because it’s cool
But seriously, there isn’t much else. Strangely enough, masks are arguably the least important cosmetic lore-wise
Props:
mask could also be some sort of protection to their face, I don't know. Masks don't seem to break, and a skykid without a mask looks more fragile in my opinion. Maybe I'm digging too deep though
Mask break, Abys spirits have shattered masks. They're sturdy but I don't believe they're indestructible
Wdym, tables are amazing! They’re the first prop to sell 1 tablillion dollars
@limber trail I’m not sure, since Skykids by themselves are already near-indestructible, excluding Eden
One reason why our masks might seem unbreakable is because they're probably made of light. We can change our masks instantly and out of thin air. The masks Ancestors wore were real physical objects made of stone so they break
Do you think the masks could be a way to have a wider range on how they look like ? If you want to be a kitty you can wear an animal mask like sassy drifter's !
Maybe this could also go with spirits having no gender, blank slates are so much easier to customize.
I have a question for this chat that I have been rolling around for ages. Do you think ancestors can be trans?
My vote is yes bc physical dysphoria would probably still exist on some level, but since they wouldn’t need to socially transition, all they’d have to do is alter their bodies. I am curious to see other peoples thoughts on this
I think ancestors can be trans but i'm biased bc i'm trans and i think trans people are really cool
Same I am also biased bc I’m trans and I think trans people are really cool
I think an ancestor would support trans rights, I don't think their culture has a gender binary to deviate from but they'd identify with some human concepts.
some of my ocs r somehow sooo transgender even if not gendered i dont know how to explain it so the same applys to ancestors
This is a really interesting mental dilemma for me because it’s hard to tell how much physical dysphoria is intertwined with social dysphoria irl. Like, if genders didn’t exist, would people still feel physical dysphoria at all, or would they just not register it as a thing
TRUE, lamplighter is a huge example of this for me. Also assembly guide and praying acolyte
"Wants to grill" is what you say of a spirit when you suspect they are transmasc but hasn't cracked yet.
Manta whisperer saw performance guide once and is now slowly realizing somethings up…
Manta Whisperer sweating when they see Performance guide living their best life.
performance guide, laidback pioneer, and cackling cannoneer, certified egg breakers
Forest Elder too, they crack eggs for days.
Rain does not crack eggs, they knock them off the edge of a counter to shatter on the floor
Sweeping eggs off their feet...
My egg was already cracked long before I started playing, but I think if it hadn’t been, light whisperer would’ve solved that.
since gender is separate from physical bodies, it could be possible. though that bears the question of whether ancestors were a dimorphic species or what bodily characteristics, if removed from gender coding, could cause them dysphoria. it is certainly still possible, it just wouldn't be gender dysphoria. their dysphoria would be more because their body doesn't develop in the way their mind maps it out, thus would need transition care to amend their bodies how they want.
I have some transhumanist thoughts that sorta applies to Vela's question on why ancestors wear masks. ancestors could still have ways they want to present themselves but would require body augmentation. masks could be a way to customize their appearance, but when it comes to their physical body, outside of gender, they could have a range of what they want to look like and how they could transform their bodies to meet their identity
My gender is elder bird, that's why I cosplay my OC Birdkeeper.
Wait that's technically a fursona
congrats on the fursona!
Trans People 🤝 Furry Ancestors
YEAH THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING. ancestor body types visibly vary a LOT more than skykids, which might be an in game thing, but combined with the scattered evidence for them working like skykids and possibly having clay shells like them (like shivering trailblazers memoru where the rain makes them lose their hair,), makes me think that maybe they were a lot more capable of altering their bodies easily than we are as humans. Although to be fair, since we only see their spirits, this could be limited to their spirits and not whatever their physical bodies looked like
granted we don't know the range of ancestors' self-identification, just that it doesn't include gender. they may see the characteristics we irl ascribe gender onto with an utterly different category we couldn't conceive of. gender transitioning falls under the transhumanist belief that people should be able to augment their bodies however they see fit rather than maintaining their "natural" bodies as is. ancestors could have also had some transhumanist ideals in their culture.
[Rapidly begins to shake my own hand]
What if the weird thing on our chest is actually where a ceremonial dagger stabbed us during some ritual and the elders where powerful people who sacrificed themselves ?
it's ok I can shake your hands
Do we each grab each other’s hands and just start jiggling?
discovered dance lvl 3 emote where we do that and prance around in circles
can we hold hands in a circle and spin around and maybe summon something
Manifesting pioneer TS like this
we could try to summon Vela's furso- I mean the elder bird
SPADE YOU ABSOLUTE GENIUS
The light is our flame. You’ll notice it disappears when we hold out our red candle — that’s also our flame. I see it as a constant power source to keep skykids animate. Skykids are just born with it
Oh yeah I also agree with this! Given the existence of stuff like height spells, it definitely makes sense that ancestors were not only willing to, but also capable of transforming their bodies to a degree humans wouldn’t be able to reach. Whatever characteristics they might ascribe gender to [although I like to believe they just don’t have it, and only physical dysphoria would exist instead] would probably be just as easily changeable on a whim.
Also because of height spells. Enchantment guide says trans rights
enchantment guide T dealer
Yeti macrodosed on T to get that big and furry
Enchantment guide where did you store the hormones
“Hope you enjoy… your gender” — enchantment guide
using the colored lights to trans my gender
What if when we go into ||orbit|| we are actually trying to ascend, but are in an endless loop of revival and death and the krill are actually sky kids who fell into despair?
So we finally know why the prophets are so tall, they’re all just trans
Nah they took more height potions than the recommended dosage
"Nice gender, where did you get it from ?"
"My dealer won't tell me."
Whenever you get a colored light quest, you are gathering hormones for someone, hope this helps
prophecy guide is trans
Skykids providing transition healthcare, bless
Omg lightseekers were the suppliers, they sought out light too
Tbf I don't think that in a world where you can change your appearance as easily as clothes would leave much room for dysphoria since light is so malleable change is common, but maybe ancestors stopped being this fluid when they ran out of light...
nooo the gender fluid
Eden calamity aka the Great Dysphoria
Politely asking pioneer if they can spare some gender.
[transforms into pioneer]
That's how they multiply.
Yeah I agree! Of course that starts a whole debate on ancestor physiology, but honestly even if it is kinda human esque, the spells are enough evidence for me that their appearance is relatively fluid. But also, since the only body altering ones we have access to yet are potions, I wonder if trans ancestors would’ve had to take them regularly to keep their favored appearance
Holding myself back from making a joke about putting colored lights in the water to turn the ancestors trans
HORMONE SHOTS REAL
Anyone want to theorize why we have masks?
they probably had longer lasting things, the height potions we have are just to be silly and have fun, not for gender
Enchantment guide would give us the permanent ones, but they need them because they are also trans.
Some masks are sooo gender tbh, absolutely not blaming them.
Al had this cool idea in hir fic where ze shows ancestors use masks as physical and emotional protection.
Rock that gives you dysphoria
If ancestors were physically different from skykids, the spells might be attuned for ancestor physiology and not as effective on skykids.
Enchantment guide panicking because a skykid took the potion that makes you grow a ton of hair (bearhug hermits potion)
skykid hormones when
I have a theory that us sky kids were part of a c*lt

i really like how personalized the masks are, i mix them around with some of my characters (vault elder headpiece + doublefive mask patterns) but i like that the ancestors had such a range of expression with them. like they hide your facial expressions but they also share something about you to everyone around you
I would also assume that appearance as spirits is even more fluid, because they seem to be made up of almost entirely light. Imagining a spirit meeting their friend and realizing that, although they recognized them immediately due to flame reasons, they look completely different than how they did… and are happy for them!
Anyway I unfortunately don't share the majority's opinion that ancestors are organic, bit I like to think their whole shtick is being fluid like the light, but darkness kinda corrupts them slowly and impedes their ability to change. To a being of light, being unable to change is against its nature to grow, explore and evolve.
rejecting voyager: oh hey pointing pilgrim, it's been a while
pc: actually i've been going by pointing candlemaker lately
pilgrim to candlemaker transgender (ptc)
the transgender effects of the isle of dawn
I doubt this would work for living ancestors, but I wonder if spirits can choose what age to project their spirits as, or if they have to be the age they died at. Like for example, maybe hide and seek pioneer managed to live to adulthood, but they were happier as a kid and had more happy memories associated with that age so they chose to return to it
Or like, tearful light miner almost definitely lived a while longer than their friends who died in the cave in, but they stayed that age as a spirit so that their friends would recognize them
Some people had a similar theory for assembly scouts !
I mean, if spirits are entirely light and light is super changeable like how our cosmetics are, it should be possible
Eden spoilers ahead, proceed with caution
Since the realms in sky represent each stage of life, and ||after eden, you die and go through orbit and stuff, and orbit would be the afterlife and you’re being reincarnated when you’re reborn maybe perhaps you were never alive after you first went through Eden, and you’re simply unaware that you’re dead which is why you’re not blue like a spirit.|| And the spirits are trying to lead you through your own memories throughout the life you lived in different bodies.
To elaborate, ancestor culture in my ficverse view their faces as more private parts of themselves. They wear masks in public and around strangers but can go maskless around people they trust such as close friends, family, or partners. For emotionally intimate moments they could take their masks off, such as to show they’re being sincere and honest.
I like the idea that masks were a means of expression, so if the ancestors didn’t closely align with their face, they wore a personalized mask to express themselves as they wanted to be seen.
Mellow musician really likes their mask because they managed to modify the eye shape so that no one can tell when they are secretly sleeping
You're gonna enjoy the short story "The Egg" by Andy Weir a lot ! I like the idea skykids are reincarnated ancestors or light creatures too :]
If that’s the case, I wonder if her friends were never to come back and she just sits there, weeping in sorrow. She might actually know they aren’t coming back and believing they would is a coping mechanism
Ohhh I love it O.O ❤️
all we see is one moment. there's no way to predict what happened during the rest of their life. but i like to think they reunited with their friends in the stars
“She?”
Also, considering we ascend spirits and see them again in Orbit… I like to think it’s possible that friendgroups like that can meet again. I mean, if they’re both spirits and Orbit is where spirits go, it makes sense.
Same, I think that the aftermath of the Eden calamity separated ancestors from each other. Skykids freeing them from darkness and ascending them allows them to reunite in the Light
Idk I’m just theorizing and maybe the spirits including the tearful miner just go to the stars 🤷♀️
There are some reunions that you can see. A handful of seasons revolve around them (enchantment, assembly, all first four seasons, and so on) and in the fifth quest of performance you can see the twins reunite <3
So it is most likely that it extends to all ancestors as well, we just don’t see them all because they don’t invite us
Ancestors showing their vulnerable flawed faces to someone they trust,,,
the ancestors don't invite us to their minigolf tournaments 😔
Relevant fic excerpts
I wonder if the spirits are the previous bodies that the sky kids lived in throughout the years, or maybe the spirits are the OG skykids that died in eden and became the statues that we have to give our WL to so they can come back and save us
Okay now for ANOTHER question that I wanted to ask. Circling back to the whole trans question. Do you all think it’s possible for elders to be trans?
They definitely seem visually similar to humans from what we can tell, so it might be that their appearance isn’t nearly as fluid as ancestors’, but they’re so powerful I feel like they’d be able to change that anyways
daleth is trans it's canon tgc told me so
Sah is trans
🏳️⚧️
Gestures at Sunset. Perhaps
prairie elder's gender is daylight
Performance guide is a trans guy
oh hey me too
I wonder if there is a group that still worships king of ||eden||?
Skykids and ancestors seem not the same species — we don’t even know if skykids can grow up like ancestors can.
Though there is a thought that skykids are reincarnated ancestors or could even be reincarnated light creatures.
I have to wonder how that works. Because even when they’re almost drained of light, they’re still there and can do stuff, unlike us in Eden, implying they’re more… idk solid? And less light based. Like… how would an elder transition? Would they have to take hormones? Would they use spells like ancestors? Does their body just instantly transform or something
they go to orbit and ask megabird for hormones
The emote help menu calls the ancestors ours !
on a similar note, the old (now archived) sky website used to refer to other skykids as "our loved ones"
I think you could use purple and red lights to mess with appearance so much, so now I am going to say that both night and dawn are trans, because I want to.
If their bodies are made of some earthen material like ash or charcoal, could they use green light since that’s associated with earth?
Maybe skykids are missing children that d!ed
Eating isle dust bc gender
you are like the third person to randomly bring this topic up to me i want you to know that
OOOOO THAT MAKES SENSE…. I like to think elders are made out of ash. Like the remnants of a flame that has gone out, but would start up again with enough power. So green light could definitely work.
I wonder why we always stay in roughly the same form. We’re always “kids” or that we can’t grow up. Maybe we’re children of the spirits, and we’re in heaven going through each stage of life watching over our parents from the past, present, and future and seeing their memories. And we gain the cosmetics from them because those are the traits and genes we inherited from them, or were supposed to inherit from them. Maybe the spirits aren’t actually spirits at all, but that’s how we see them because we’re not on earth
Setting the elders on fire to ascend them back to the stars
In the state they’re in, they’re drained of a lot of light and can’t do much, like a fire burning low [nudging my headcanon about them projecting different forms with more light] but with enough light they jsut go fwooooosh power time
You joke but I like to imagine Dusk has orange light for scenarios like this. Keeping their friends and ancestors alive because light seems to heal stuff in this universe is heavily connected with life … but ended up having to use it for destruction instead
orange light is like the one light we don't really see much action from. the other lights are used to restore the ark, but orange light? it just kinda flies around & then the spirits ascend
It does summon light creatures! I wonder if wasteland was once super populated with light creatures of all kinds because of orange light…
Wasteland filled with jellyfish…
Yeah I agree , but why so many de@d children tho. If we take ever sky player and count how many are there, that’s a lot of de@d children 😨
Where I can find the colors of light in Sky, and their meanings?
I can't find my colorful elders thing but Salem remember that theory with the colored lights
Adding onto this, perhaps if the elders can see us, I wonder if the elders were able to see spirits, which is why we’re able to interact with the elders
buddy you can say 'dead' in skycord it's ok
MY ENCHANTMENT THEORY, I LOVE IT SO MUCH. SCARECROW HAS THE TRANS ELDER LIGHT
Good to know
Considering one of their jobs is to ascend spirits, it would be really weird if they couldn’t
I’d also like to hear your guys’ theories on starlight desert!
They need therapy
especially after all the shards
AHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA
gay and trans all of them
Definitely. Performance guide is definitely gay and trans, and obviously was a theater kid.
What if the elders are cursed to stay trapped in the kingdom of sky while they watch the spirits ascend, since I don’t think there are replacements for them
My theory is that vault is just Like that
trans?
yeah, mix blue and pink and u get ourple
Meanwhile Abyss spirits need a bath
I might have them, hold on
I treasure these
IF NOBODY GOT MY BACK ALASDAIR GOT MY BACK
I KNOW RIGHT THEYRE SO GOOD I TREASURE THEM SO MUCH
I also have a theory that the realms could also potentially represent emotions that come with the stages of life. Isle of dawn being a completely blank slate, taking in new information constantly. prairie representing happiness and childhood. Forest representing the depressed teenagers of the world; hence the rain being the first dark element of the game. Valley being the freedom you have that comes with adulthood which is why there are 5 locations hidden within valley (village of dreams, performance stage, citadel, the rink, and the end of the race). Wasteland representing the fear of dying that comes later in adulthood, but before you’re considered to be of old age. (Think 40’s-50’s) And then vault relating to old age and being considered wise (hence why it’s called vault of KNOWLEDGE) and Eden representing the pain of losing someone or going through someone dying. And orbit being a chance for a new beginning, being reborn.
I think you would like these concept pieces
MIDLIFE CRISIS LMAO
maturity is when there are two of you
Tfw they're surrounded by water yet still need a bath
I don't think seawater is great to take a bath in !
Salt water can dehydrate you
Drying them out like the raisin…
Might sound random but, How is the crabs at sanctuary harmless tho?
Unlike the crabs at golden wasteland ☠️
Not the ones inside cave btw
It’s likely crabs are easily affected by their surrounding environment, especially seen that crabs become greatly more agressive at shard events, the ones in wasteland are constantly surrounded by darkness and could be seeking out light similar to how dark dragons do, while the ones in the sun are content being in direct light/sunlight
Ohh so it’s like they were searching for light?
Passive crabs don’t have darkness flakes on them whereas aggressive ones do
oh yeah i completely forgot abt that, ik i felt like i was missing smth, its likely the whole being afflicted by darkness, which is making them hostile, we know dragons seek light but not sure abt crabs, i think theyre just fighty guys <3
Fighty guys lol
say that dark dragons were the same..would they become light dragons in places like prairie?
I would love to see their friendlier version for sure ☠️
actually i remember making a story abt that, i called them golden dragons and they were chill
and then one of them met a dark crab or smth and tainted them all- it was weird
Interesting, I mean we already got passive crab, a golden dragon….how would they look like?
originally i thought of them to be white with golden eyes (hence the name golden dragon) but considering that even crabs simply turn a lighter shade of gray, it probably wouldnt play out like that
krills are fully black so perhaps a gray? probably something more drastic
And one thing for sure they don’t bonk skykids 💪🌝

what if we elaborate on this and say that skykids were never alive in the first place and are just spectators of an old world, maybe from a storytelling perspective. we can go even further than that and suggest that the world of sky is telling a story to a nonexistent skykid and rebirth is the game's way of telling us that "we're ready to experience life" or something like that
I need woolly manta, Lorechat.
ah
sorry bout that, i dont come here that often
Thank you.
- i have a theory for the winged spirits; so we can see that the ancestors can still fly without their wing, but there r some who do have them. what if the winged ancestors were the high roled? (another dum theory by me)
I’m still honestly shocked by how far wooly mantas spread, I remember when they were just a little baby doodle
- i also have another theory; the environment of the realms kind of say something, i wanna say it. (i think),the Elders did something to protect their realms, and that affected it, so what if the less damaged realms = a bigger hit by the elders? (COUGHSWJJEJEO)
ancestors can't fly, even the ones with capes. they could fly with boats pulled by mantas or powered by power diamonds, but they couldn't fly on their own
Ceasing Commodore (he dried up from salt water)
it is unfortunate, possibly because it's just so far down that not much people see it. If it's like near the #sky-memes or #questions-and-help section I'd be happier
Are all the spirits in Sky dead?
Where is it? I like to calculated my skykid height
Not sure, it might not be in the home island anymore
If you can find a good reference point to stand next to, take a screenshot of yourself next to it, and another while wearing the chibi mask
From there, it’s just a bit of picture editing and math
so there’s a spirit in forest called the dismayed hunter and my question is- what did they hunt? they carry a bow and arrow and appear to be hunting when their memory is relived- so what on earth do they hunt??
Crabs pronanly. There are crabs in Forest running around and there are crabs being cooked so they probably wanted to hunt them down for food
Crabs are the ultimate food source, other then pure fire.
unless there's some creatures we haven't seen yet that used to inhabit the sky kingdom, i'm guessing mantas. mantas are pretty big compared to other common fauna and can provide a substantial meal, whereas birds and crabs won't fill much on their own. the bow seems kind of flimsy and probably wouldn't penetrate the shell of a crab (they seem sturdy). crabs aren't found in that part of the forest anyway and neither are krill, though i don't suppose dismayed hunter can take down a krill by themself only armed with a bow. there's the possibility they could be hunting birds, though in their memory they are aiming close to the ground. there are butterflies around in that area but. i don't see how hunting butterflies with bows and arrows could be an effective way of taking one down. also i don't think they would eat butterflies.
Unrelated i love the crab shoulder boi ive named mine after my lama tea strainer Gregory
Hey so ||I wanna know what happened to the king||
Hey lore chat, I have noticed something with the shattering guide. There is a smaller crystal inside of it I took screenshots of the red and spirit version. Since the 3D model is probably the same for the eden rock and the guide, is there anything interesting to pull out of it?
The red guide is hard to see
||I don't know if anyone already said this theory but
I believe the memories in SOshattering are the memories of eden's creation
Or are the memories of the king before vanishing||
Following what happened in the lore for Light Awaits, the King became corrupted and massive explosion in Eden brought on the corruption and the darkness.
In the current lore of the game, the story seems to follow a similar trend, though with the King missing and little in game lore to explain what may have happened, we can deduce that a catastrophic disaster took place in Eden and it persist to this day in the world of Sky.
Why did it involve a massive crystal
why is it red
why was the crystal in eden
Did elders become aware of it at the last minute
Why did it blast
Sooo many questions!
Why is the mountain suddenly erupting shards now... Why didn't any elder come and assist us as we had revived(kind of?) spirits of elders and other normal folks?
Potential spoilers for Legend of Zelda: BoTW
Eden probably has a similar situation as Hyrule Castle in BoTW. In BoTW, it is revealed that ||Zelda is left inside Hyrule Castle in order to seal Ganon with magic and prevent him from escaping and spreading more malice to the world.|| Eden could have a similar situation wherein it would be the King himself trapped inside Eden who would use a sort of seal to prevent Darkness from spreading outside of Eden. His seal is either weak or waning down though because it's obvious that there are many places in Sky that got badly affected by Darkness (Forest with the rain, GW with the water pollution, and the dark plants scattered all around the kingdom)
Why is there no saddle on krills!?
(possibly not a lore question.. But 🤷)
Because then there are people like me who will ride them and start steering them towards other players
So the season of shattering would be this seal breaking?
Probably
Wasn't it already broken hence sky was destroyed of its people /ancestors?
Maybe
But perhaps that's how the king got sealed
It tried to save his people by sealing himself with the darkness but it was already too late
So he is the one shattered into pieces of WLs
? 🤔
So only his soul that's still in a kid form.. Stuck in the void (possibly another dimension where he is trapped since the initial blast)
Possibly, it's not entirely known where he is. TGC said that his presence is in the game, just "not in the way we think." He could be the light kid we meet after we die in PNR, he could be the WL scattered around the world, us sky kids could even be remnants of him. It's uncertain and unknown. The lore is up to interpretation though!
From the isle of dawn murals in the first cave
It says many years have passed and we fall from sky... So possibly we are not from the king, rather another manifestation of the mega bird, sent to fix things... Like terminator (asta la vista baby)
Plot twist: The hints we get in game is from the voice of the King, hence his symbol appears when the Light shows the way
He could even be the Light for all we know
He is The king may be the light of the sky! The light that came from mega bird and still trying to get back and merge (migrate) back to mega bird
I don't think he's the Light, but to be fair it would make sense if he was the person speaking to us at the start. It'd be like he's calling to us to try free him from the diamond (headcanon)
May be like sky kids... For some reason, the king fell as a kid from sky(memory of one of the sprit is in dawn) and because of his powers with light, people celebrated him as king. His aim was to enrich the life of sky kingdoms? Show them the path back to mega bird? Etc? Then while attempting to himself first get to the mega bird (the eden light elevator) things went south
So current sky kids are sent again to see what went wrong and fix things. So we are the Mario of sky world, here to fix the plumbing that connected light from sky world to light above eden
The likely answer is because it is the next season for skykids to experience.
As the game gets updates, players (new and old) experience the same series of events. Although newer skykids would need to catch up, whenever a new event takes place in the world of Sky, it does not discriminate between skykids. It is just a new chapter that is now revealed for skykids to explore and add to what has already taken place in the game.
For example, new spirits get to meet spirits of the past, while skykids witness this in the present.
It would be strange for spirits from past seasons were to meet spirits in future seasons. Unless the interaction implies that these events took place at the same time. But there lies the matter of skykids only learning of this once the future season reveals this.
When it comes to the game itself, it is a nice way of keeping spirits from past seasons relevant, as well as link all of the spirits together.
It is a headache, though one that gives a reasonable explanation to why the lore of sky is vague.
We just don't have all of the pieces, so we are stuck with a fragmented and incomplete picture.
I like to think there were wild Light boars and they were hunting one of those.
Well we do interact with spirits on a daily basis from hugging to tiger interactions, they coming for events happening in present, etc. So player interacting with spirits from past shouldn't be an issue for sky as such? Same goes for spirit interaction too - they are spirits what's stopping them from coming to present and helping sky kids alleviate the problems? Now that there are 1000s of sky kids giving light and restoring the world of sky...
Why are crabs the only land animals (please ping if you respond) ?
@haughty talon maybe the light traps certain fragments in time, the way this season we can visit a moment in eden trapped in time, and when the spirits want to pass on, the light traps them. And were here as a combatant to the light to free those trapped by it
(These are all my interpretations, don’t take them as canon)
It may be a massive Power Diamond, a resource you see throughout the game that absorbs light and opens doors.
It’s red because it’s corrupted by darkness, and it could’ve blasted since it was overloaded
What Is more of a thins is how seasons as old as lightseekers can still interact with spirits as recent as the bloom spirit.
While, reasonably, this can happen with the game getting updates and now include these interactions.
When looking from a lore standpoint, one would wonder if the spirits have stuck around for all that time, or if the more recent spirits are interacting with spirits from the past as if no time had passed for the older spirits.
There were concept art for deer.
Though with the current creatires jn the game are based marine animals. There are more creatures that would swim, than creatures that can go on land.
For instance, while the turtle in the game never intentionally goes on land, it can do so in theory.
I hope the game ends with a final season some day where we finally get to use the eden elevator properly... yeetingBeaming us to the orbit directly
May be. Because we see every spirit we freed floating in orbit.. Sans the elders. May be they are still stuck somewhere and we need to perform more activities to free them? Or would they forever be shepherds of light creatures?
Pardon?
What eden elevator?
Aside from the Elder cutscenes from their respective temples, [Orbit spoiler] ||we can see them physically in the Orbit||
||Which makes them on of the few physical ancient character skykids can meet in Sky. Other similar interactions include the Little Prince and the TGC Skykid staff, who can be considered to be meta (non-canon to the Sky world).||
Yeah I thought about the turtle
Does anyone know what type of creature the bones in the golden wastelands belong to?
Dragons or something bigger like the whale on the way to orbit
Who else has found this airplain at wind tunnels? Hahahahaha
Lmao
Probably mostly species that are now extinct, sadly. Almost all of the bones are larger than the whale ones in boneyard, and although one could belong to the elder manta in the sanctuary islands, most of them don’t visually match either. For instance, several of them resemble massive turtles, which we haven’t seen anywhere else — in fact, the only turtle in the game at all is the small one on sanctuary.
The poem released for season of shattering does mention “behemoths”, implying that large creatures were probably much more common before the disaster and refineries. Due to their size and power, they were probably targeted more than others because of how much darkstone they could charge. There’s probably a lot of elder creatures we’ve never seen because they’ve gone extinct due to this
In fact, it might also be the reason we see elder birds (
) as spirits like the rhythm cutscene one and character cards, but never living ones in game
The elder bird in the last Rhythm cutscene didn't have spirit colorations ! Stop saying they're dead, that's what TGC wants you to believe
sometimes I can still hear it’s voice…
question: is this a good channel to infodump about my Hypothetical (Definitely Never Going To Happen) Sky X Rain World crossover season? general chat is scary
Considering the channel isn’t being used rn, I’d say go for it!
before i begin, i must say that my intended vibe for this infodump is "i want you to imagine me with a big conspiracy corkboard, red yarn and everything".
with that, i shall unleash my Absolute Love Of Weird Crossovers, because rain world and sky have the EXACT opposite tone while still featuring a lot of the same concepts (cycle of death and rebirth, Cool Animals, etcetera etcetera)
so, season of... rain world? season of rain. there we go. This is my first time really coming up with a Hypothetical Season so i don't, like, have a full quest list but i DO have a bunch of concepts scraggling around
iterators as the spirits, an overseer as the seasonal guide. since they kinda can't have their Actual Names here im still kinda. Figuring out the spirit names bc i suck at the whole Verb-Noun thing.
Looks to the Moon as either... stargazing scholar or zoned-out scholar. Definitely scholar tho. Five Pebbles as.. apathetic something-or-other (engineer? biologist? i can't just use robot can i?), No Significant Harassment as. Okay this one has me stumped, uh... goofball something like i said not good at spirit names oh no i need a fourth one don't i-
The fourth spirit is either Seven Red Suns, Sliver of Straw or Grey Wind. I am hesitant to pick grey wind because they have exactly seven lines of dialogue and serve only to explain things for the other iterators but i am also severely biased towards grey wind
the season's area would be set in the hidden forest, and I know that'd make it the THIRD forest-based season but come on it's the hidden forest it rains there thats it's whole thing.
the area would be set up as like... a little prince style "multiple rooms in one area" situation (like how little prince has the empty desert towards eden and the jellyfish boat)
OHHH MY GOD OH MYD GOFF RAINDWPRLD 🤝🤝🤝🤝 YESSSS
I WAS THINKING OF TAGGING U SLINK BUT I DIDNT WANT TO BOTHER U
I WAS ALSO THINKING OF CROSSOEVR SRASON IVE BEEN PLAYING IT SO MUCH LATELY, i wasnt sure what to do with the ‘spirits’ at first i was thinking taking an approach like shattering and having the spirits being like. pearls maybe, but ohhh the iterators are so good as spirits too, id table fp if i could still, for a fourth i like silver a lot but you could bump it to 6 and get all of em in
we r just little guys exploring a long dead civilization with a cycle of life and death and we’ve got some ascending to do …..
WEEPS 💕💕
According to what the channel discussed in the past.
It is believed to have been a creature that is theorised to be called a Whurtle (Whale - Turtle Hybrid)
I take it back, just found out who was the first to call them that (It was Bricky)
it'd sorta be a one spirit per room sorta deal, to fit with where each iterator is. the central hub would sorta be a mix of outskirts and industrial complex, with shoreline, farm arrays and shaded citadel having moon, nish and pebbles respectively. The whole region would have an on-and-off forest rain, but heavier, and the quests would mostly be fetch quests- except instead of "grab these things and come back" you'd be going to one spirit, getting something from them and taking it to another spirit like a little delivery guy
also the last quest would TOTALLY be eden
DARN IT I USED THE OFFICIAL NAME FOR THE BLUE OCTOPUS SPIDERS IN RAIN WORLD AND MY MESSAGE WAS EATEN
OOO
eden but void soup…..
Lol that sounds interesting tysm
OH NO THE SPIDER GUYS FORBIDDEN….
Okay retyping this bc the bot ate my message for calling the rot spiders by their more well known name.
The first quest would be taking the green pearl and neuron to moon, because Yeah. Another one after that would be a pearl from seven red suns to five pebbles (yknow... the pearl from the drought mod, because i think itd be neat) and then the immediate next quest would be to burn a bunch of darkness plants in the pebbles sub-area (the plants being a stand-in for Rot)
oho i just watxhed the drought mod yesterday, tyis is so good
OH a later quest having you sneak past pebbles to steal neurons for moon- a whole stealth quest thing with, like... modified krill spotlights that send you back to the start if you get caught
since spirits always ascend at the final cutscene... the second-to-final quest has you go to every iterator in a specific order and get an item from them. You are not told what these items are.
Yeah...
OK, well Geraldine, mommy Krill of the abyss is a very massive creature, and is probably still alive because she was kept safe all these years in her cell. So indeed there were bigger creatures that existed, but you have to look at this now from a scientific stand piont. All creatures, well everything till the flowers and grass, are formed of light, and light up as you move past it. So the whole world of sky, including its wildlife would need light sources to survive, in this case simple sunlight. Then came the darkness, that devistated not just the world but the ecosystem as well. So major dents in light creature populations occurred over night. As with our skids, unless we replenish our light reserves they begin to die (loose light)
So the way I see it, is those huge creatures died off of hunger, after their food/light sorce was destroyed. Some places were untouched, which would explain elder manta, Geraldine the abyss monster, and turtle.
And then the final quest starts with an edited version of the "west past the farm arrays" thing.
"Go forth past the Golden Wastes, and then up into the sky where the land stretches up, as far as you can reach, where the ancestors built their temples and danced their silly rituals. The light within you will let you through."
And so, your final quest is a trek through Eden, carrying a part of the Iterators alongside you, allowing them to cheat the cycle and ascend.
YESSS I LOVE THESE SOOO MUCH
feeling inspired to draw out some things,, rainworld my beloved itd work so well with sky also
Basically what I'm saying is no more ecosystem, no more wild life. But remember there are different ecosystems for different sized creature. For example, a human needs lots of air when they breath, as where an ant does not. Different size different ecosystem. If humans ecosystem failed, bugs would still survive.
You know the smoke eye guys in fire trial? What are they called?
I find theyre often referred to as shadows since the emote is called that
Ok tyyyy
I don't know if this is considered lore but i had a thought and I was wondering where the cheering comes from when you start The Valley race
Maybe they recorded cheering as part of the door opening mechanism in the power diamond above the twins statue
There’s a thought that the Sunset Elder(s) are projecting cheering for the skykids
so what do you think about the whole treasure reef map
was it ancient lab or maybe some sort of power station before everything got destroyed
It had a mine shaft as well as it seems.
Ancient lab for mining and doing some experiments…. Light extraction and other things……
Also, Alani and Alasdair Baudshaw made an interesting discovery about that mural in the second image
YEAH THIS IS MINE!! I think it’s less projection like how the memory lanterns work, and more like, a really masterful use of cyan light bc I like to think the elemental lights reflect in all the realms
We ascend from void room with lonely kid over a beam... I assume that beam that pulls you up should ideally work as a pulling force from top of eden itself. Where the BIG red crystal is currently...
ah, I see.
Thanks for clarifying
If eden crystals fall in a realm of Sky, but there is no one there to see it land, did it ever really happen?
Yes
Also kind of reaffirming element: in the old Dawn cutscene showing murals, we used to see that sky above eden was connected to a big star above - then the animation changes when it says "then darkness fell" after that the connection goes away and we see clouds cover that connection
I did?
Aw geez, I meant Baudshaw with their math.
My apologies, Alasdair
lorechat is starting to blend into an indistinguisable smoothie
Ultimate Fruit smoothie…
A collection of the greatest minds on Earth merging into the perfect hivemind in order to solve lore of a game about moth people and their dead friends
The worst part is is that it's true
drinking it would trans your gender
It involves a whole lotta algebra
Smoothie that steals your gender and fills your brain with incomprehensible thoughts that make you cry
Haha don't need it to have such thoughts 🤣 🤣 🤣 😭 😭 😭 😭
Become Helicopter
Hey I don’t get the joke, could you explain it please?
Something involving Google giving you a gender option for your Google account. And you can have the choice not to pick any gender or come up with one. Like Helicopter. It’s suppose to be attac and Helicopter but it was block.
I don’t remember why I have it in my memory, but I just know it was a meme. And as a meme, it dies.
Yeah, the whole identifying as a [x] helicopter thing was and still is a really infamous transphobic joke. it may not be the best one to make here
censor won't let me elaborate but that's a transphobic meme btw
I say still is because stranphobes still make it and variations of it, it’s like the only joke they have
An image with genders and their symbols. They hid a helicopter in there
still transphobic
Not saying it isn't
Due to its origins in transphobia (and honestly it never really came out of it…) a lot of people, myself included, really dislike the helicopter joke and its variations. You can probably find an in depth explanation on how it’s harmful online, although I’m not sure I’d need to explain given how easy it is to figure out
In any case, it’s not an appropriate joke to make here, ty for understanding
Sorry I didn’t know…. Gosh darn it Why must some people be like that…..
bigots like to use even the most milquetoast words and phrases to cause harm, making marginalized folk feel uncomfortable day-to-day. while some stuff is being reclaimed (see: "fruity" for gay people), when they are still being actively used for harm, they still carry that harmful connotation.
Ugh….. people sometimes….
My friend looked and said "You think it's a candle?"
It could be a candle but it could also bemeant to represent the king! could even be both!
……Everything in Sky secretly a Bell.
secretly? kinda obvious tbh
A true bell stays still and hunts out the right time to ring the loudest…
and sometimes bells move around and keep clanging
Wow wrong channel I'm so sorry I thought I was with my friends giving them a guide on seasons
What are these
orbs of light. in Piggyback Lightseeker's spirit memories, you can see Piggyback, Rejecting Voyager, and an unspecified spirit genuflecting in front of the altar. there's not much else to go off of though.
I wonder if they have something to do with the fact that the isle of down could have been a ocean because of the boat ruins
well, boats can fly in Sky, ocean not required. there is a thought that Isle has been flooded by rising sea level since the Switch release trailer depicts an lively grassland that turns into modern Isle
thanks
stills of Isle of Dawn from the trailer for context
Wow it was so nice maybe someday a season will come out with areas like a void but with the old areas
i may put this in wishlist
the second image is after the stars fell. you can see the stars literally fall out of the sky between the transition of the two stills.
btw you don't have to ping reply to me if we're the only ones in the channel chatting back to back
I keep scrolling up to these and smiling, Ty for reposting them and ty vela for drawing them in the first place<3
I honestly hadn't considered whether the Elders could've been in color until I saw these but I love the idea.
YEAH ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HEADCANONS, IT CHEERS ME UP SO MUCH AND IM SUPER GLAD OTHER PEOPLE LIKE IT
[I had to edit it to one of many because I have so many cool ones]
After seeing those I desperately need TGC to add some sort of event or season where we see colored Elders, they look amazing with those colors
I KNOW RIGHT? they definitely make them look much more powerful as well
I think Its food ... I dont remember, but I think there is a mural somewhere showing a huge "Person" eating blobs of light
Imagine going into a cave and as you reach the end, you see three Burger King whoppers floating ominously with a cake of ceremonial candles to the side
I think that the devs once talked about recurring patterns in Sky; for example, the prairie bells also kind of look like candles ! That statue looks like those bells in turn as well...
I would run for my life hahhhaahaha
Does Bells have a meaning, spiritual meaning? .... I know that candles its a representation of Holy illumination and spiritual guidance, but i dont know the spiritual meaning of bells
they guide light creatures, as seen in sanctuary island and the wind paths! the guiding part has spiritual significance
Ohhhh So Candles and Bells have similar meanings in Sky ... Thats interesting
In some cultures, a bell can be used as a calling or signal for people to gather at.
The ringing may also be symbolic to herding creatures (like cows, or sheep).
For those who like to read more about bell symbolism (not sky related, but does relate to lore for bells)
Thank youu
❤️
iirc after completing all the Flight quests, the intro text for entering the Wind Paths changes to "chimes used to guide creatures" or something like that.
What is the difference between Chimes and Bells, in portuguese we use the same word (Sinos) for both of them O.O
Yup, just checked
The Wind Paths
Chimes guide creatures to clear passage through the realms.
Afaik, chimes are much smaller. Those are the small things the tinkerer in the Wind Paths make. Bells are much bigger and they're the ones you see in Prairie
after completing each of the first three Flight quests, one of the arches light up and their chimes start singing. birds then fly to clear out the clouds. perhaps chimes are used more for directing light creatures while bells simply summon them.
as for irl bells and chimes, I couldn't find a significant difference.
Thank you Sajain ❤️
Look at those two hills to the left of the temple. Do you think we might get some new areas in the distant future?
Wait where???
I have a theory of how bells summon creatures!
Y'all know how light creatures simply manifest out of thin air wherever there's enough light for them to be born right?
Also we can see how our honks and just sounds in general seem to have some magic properties
I theorize that maybe light alone isn't enough to summon anything too complex, maybe the bells are created to produce a very specific sound that makes light reunite to create more complex creatures or special variants of simple creatures
The alternative is that bells really just attract and guide existing creatures that are flying around, much like our honks do with butterflies
I wonder if our honk is kinda the same way but on a smaller scale since it summons butterflies!
Exactly!! Also btw what does the word "summon" exactly mean? I'm not a native English speaker and when I hear "summon" the first thing I imagine is "conjuring things into existence" but maybe I got the definition wrong
“Summon” in English does mean conjure, but it also means “to call something over”
You could summon your brother from his room, which means you call over to him to come to you
It’s framed as a demand when talking to another human, and “summon” when in that context is usually used from someone in a higher position of power to someone lower
”authoritatively or urgently call on (someone) to be present…”
So is there a king or a prince. Or both
There was one. They’re gone now
We’ve got it to a tee now. 6 words
Oh alright thanks that actually explains a lot
I always thought summon meant like magically conjuring creatures into existence out of thin air I totally blame videogames for this
I mean, magically conjuring creatures isn’t a thing in real life
I just always associated summoning with magic because that's literally the only context I've heard the word in until now
Anyways English sucks we should make Spanish the official language of everything
Maybe the sound of the bell (and skid’s voices) is some sort of rhythmic expression of the Light element?
So light creatures are attracted to it, because it maybe they need Light for their life cycles as well (ikr what they eat, but they probably need Light energy to fly and stuff like Skids do, so they can “hear” Light in order to survive). Or it mimics their calls, and it sounds like one of their own calling out to them; most of the Sky creatures seem to be very social/herd creatures (which actually goes heartwarmingly well with the themes of companionship and togetherness in Sky
). Their instinct is to always come when a friend calls :>
I kinda doubt that new areas would be added to Isle. That realm is supposed to be one huge playground for new players to test the controls and some of the game's mechanics. By adding content to Isle, new players might get overwhelmed right off the bat which might turn them off from continuing the game. You could argue that TGC added a seasonal area in Isle which is adding content, but the cave leading to that seasonal area is quite hidden and it doesn't distract a lot of new players when they first enter the realm
I still keep forgetting to finish the cave of prophecy
Still though, I agree...it might be disorienting to new players but out of all the place isle seems a bit...lonely I guess?
Yeah but it does tie in well with Isle's symbolism which is birth
I mean one never really goes back to it once you’re done with it. I mean I forget Isle exists sometimes, and that’s sad, because it’s actually quite a pretty area
but spanish has ||gendered language||
I think it could be, and there's many ways of pulling it off. If we'd want to say add the two hills for a seasonal area of sorts, then we could have a server with the hills for players who have beaten Eden and a server without the hills for players who haven't. That way, new players won't get confused and old players would enjoy some much-needed love to Isle.
It could also just be blocked off with an energy-constellation wall thingy
This is actually a good idea
. It's a win-win situation for both moths and vets
Adding onto this, the Sky creatures probably have their own equivalent of magnetoreception. They don't really have ears nor eyes to begin with, so in order to not get lost they have to rely on sensing sound waves. By sticking together, they can honk at each other in order to form a line or pack to prevent them from going offtrack and getting stranded. The Ancestors caught on and they manufactured bells and chimes to help the creatures find their way around the kingdom
Edit: I think magnetoreception isn't the best example. I reread this and they act more like how dolphins communicate as opposed to how birds find their way around the earth
Yes it is duhh 🙄 i summoned a pack of thousands of raccoons to break into TGC office 😍
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG O.O This makes a lot of senseeeeee
I do think that Skykids can see.
Directly quoted from @frigid tinsel , credit to them:
" they reach out to touch things only when those things are up close. if they were blind, how would know that was near them?"
I completely forgot that Birbs have the weird thingy i their heads O.O
I think most creatures have eyes that just arent shown due to modeling constraints
I've been summoned
Yes! Perfect!!
@sharp lichen Oh yeah I think Saijan meant the animal creatures not the skids
OH- sorry, sometimes I mix up the two
The gold crest markings ye?
other Sky creatures probably canonically have eyes and ears, they just aren't shown due to modeling constraints, as Luka said. To make Sky run as it does on mobile phones, the devs would have to cut back on rendering details.
Noo , real birbs ahahha
Ie,
, maybe the fortune fish? Cus i feel like its like… detailed model of what those orange diamond fish in ponds look like
Oh yeah I can see that. I like thinking they have eyes AND some sort of sound echolocation ability
Flashback to when they removed post-Eden patterned capes
I do think that’s a really cool idea though
Woah like Journey capes???
Echolocation like Wales and Bats ... Wales see, but they use echolocation to know were they are underwater
I barely know anything about Journey's capes/cloaks but in Light Awaits, everytine you finish Eden, your cape gets more detailed with intricate designs
I do think that skykids and possibly light creatures have some form of echolocation, however that would supplement their other senses, not replace them.
The echolocation is us deephonking in dark areas to find the outline of the stuff that's surrounding us
ohhhhhhhhh
yea, Light Await capes became more detailed the more one completed Eden
Imagine if they were procedurally generated. No two capes are the same so everybody gets a unique design
That’s what happens in a journey! ||Every time you go to the mountain your cape gets more designs on it (to a certain point). Shows players how experienced you are
And if you collect all the hidden symbols, you get something really cool—-
||
||you get to turn your red cape into a white one which can simply recharge when you land versus having to find energy sources||
That's a big flex
The cape design actually looks like based on the patterns of moth wings!
Yeah especially since it makes you look like ||the ancestors you see in the game||
This detail inside the cape closet in Eden communal area is curious, only this closet has paint on the floor
I’m 90% sure it’s the only indoors social space, so maybe it just got really well preserved? although, that implies that the space was around pre disaster to be preserved which is super weird
But the other ones are well preserved only the cape on looks "destroyed"
Probably a bunch of Ancestors who underestimated the storm, went in there to do a repaint and then noped the moment it started raining rocks
No, I mean like, the other social spaces were once painted and the paint washed away due to the elements. Since Eden’s isn’t exposed thst didn’t happen
Ohhhhhh I see
Is it really paint? It could be the floor wearing out, hinting to the cape closet being used very frequently for whatever reason
Considering it’s bright blue, it does seem to be paint
Yeah ... when stone is wearing out they look polished, like the hair closet
Maybe its dust or ashes from their capes
what about the little horn things on the heads of the closet icons
Butterflies come out if darkness plants when burned, but mantas are only kidnapped?
In my opinion Butterflies aren't creatures, just a physical manifestation of light ...
Just want to say that I just got the lil manta cape from season of shattering and OMGGGGGG ITS SOOO CUTEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Ohh that's interesting, and they don't change to gold in any of the closets
yeah that's what i was kinda leading to
what do they represent then? why are they there?
Maybe a new feature in the future? Crows, horns, those arc thingys ...
it would make sense if it lit up in the hair closet cause of the hair accessories but it doesnt so
I remember this scene from my childhood and I was expecting the snake but when this thing came up-
Aight i got a question (I hope this is the right channel for this)
What is your guys theorys on How the kingdom of Sky get corrupted by darkness
Some say it was a situation similar to Pompeii wherein Eden exploded into a storm and then a shockwave of darkness washed over the kingdom, petrifying the Spirits
Some say the Darkness travelled via the elements like rain (Hidden Forest) and polluted water (GW, Sanctuary geyser)
do u think the civilisation retreated to the skies to escape the war?
Bobbit 💜
Is Wasteland and Vault above or under clouds?
Or all the realms except Isle are above clouds?
i think both of them are underneath, with valley being mayyyybe both? like what we see is only the very top of the mountains
People may ran away from Wasteland, as in real life people get away from war zone
I don’t think so, at least I don’t remember it being that way. The cape becomes more detailed as one makes more & more friends
(I could double check with my friend…)
I don't think so. The stars falling from the sky was treated as a crisis according to Isle. If they retreated to the skies that easily, a bunch of extra stars (or Ancestors) falling down because of the Darkness and causing the night sky to go pitch black wouldn't be much of an issue
Although, it is shown that some Ancestors/Spirits were trying to find safety according to the GW Spirit memories so no doubt a lot of Ancestors fled to other places when there was still war
I was thinking about how the elders learnt the ancestors language, like after they fell down, they can't understand what people are talking about and do emotes instead of talking. Then after a while learn the words the way a baby learn. People would help them by pointing at things and speak the words, "door", "candle", "butterfly"... and stuff
It takes time for them to finally able to speak. And since they are not native speakers, they may speak with a weird accent that sounds like singing honk
Maybe sky kids can speak too if they hear the spirits talking long enough? Or growing up in nature, they may become feral and unable to learn ancestors language, talking manta and bird instead
Hmm interesting
lol
bobbit
In this situation, wouldn't it be the other way around? The way this is portrayed is the Elders came first way before the Ancestors did. The Elders would have had their own language by the time the Ancestors started raining down. Logically, it would be the Ancestors who learned language from the Elders, not the other way around. Though, this might not be the case if the Ancestors somehow developed a spoken language right after they had landed
For the last part, Sky Kids probably do speak but not in the same way as humans do
Animals probably think humans are weird for blurting out sounds with subtle patterns in intonation when they talk to one another and that somehow, humans end up understanding each other. The way some animals perceive human speech is quite similar to how we perceive the verbal communication among Sky Kids. When a Sky Kid talks, they blurt out random calls with subtle changes in the pitch they sing each call in. Basically, we're just probably not sophisticated enough to understand what's really happening with their speech, we just know that somehow they can chuck out an entire paragraph with just one honk
Oh :D In my head the ancestors were there first before the elders. I think they did not rain from the sky. If they are stars too, they wouldn't be that surprised when seeing the prince fell from the sky, and may not worship the elders.
The game did not make it clear who was there first, ancestors or elders
The game intro before is "bring our lost stars home" (never clear what "stars") and recently changed to "bring spirits back to the stars" (but not confirm spirits are stars)
It is possible the elders were ther first too. Imagine the elders lived in the wild like in survival shows before more people come and then open language classes for the ancestors
Ahh, sorry for the assumption
. I interpreted it as the Elders coming first but now your theory makes a lot more sense. Also I now want someone to make an edit of Survivor with the Eden King getting voted off in one of those council thingies that they do
What are sources of lore outside the game?
I don’t think there’s any regarding current lore… Concept art, livestreams, press conferences, blog posts, interviews, etc
yeah! tgcs social media, patch notes, and this discord server is generally a good place to start
This place! Just ask any questions if you have trouble with Sky’s lore
You know we are desperate when we are looking for lore in patch notes /hj
I KNOW RIGHT, I couldn’t think of what else to call the little poem in the shattering announcement though 💔
The news post that confirmed what we had thought for a while — that the ancestors took light out of the light cycle
YEAH THAT ONE, it is really good and I’m grateful for any confirmation, even although we did already know it.
It makes me hopeful that we aren’t just wrong about everything yknow
I've been playing for a couple weeks, most of what I think only comes from the walls, lol.
Yea, murals are one of the few ways we can get explicit lore to ponder over
Murals My beloved
Most of what I think goes like this, there will probably be a lot of inaccuracies and plot holes:
"Eden" wasn't always there. In the Cave of Prophecies, the four elements are depicted as stars.
In an Isle of Dawn cutscene, it's said that with the stars united their light was infinite, though this most likely refers to the spirits.
Then back to the Cave. One person passes the trials, brings all the Stars forth, and combines them? In an attempt to restore infinite light? But with unforseen results. Is that why many murals depict spirits worshiping the Eden Elder?
Knowing what had truly been created, the Wasteland Elder smote the Eden Elder down, but by then darkness had spread, taking spirits with it. So, in a last attempt, did the Elders sacrifice their own light to keep some semblence of light alive?
Journey had the same deal too actually
they really are similar
Was this map shown anywhere?
Real life too 😍
Journey irl when
I do not like that map tbh
Why is vault a tower seperate from the eden mountain if you enter Eden from the top
That’s the dreamlike Vault, so I don’t think it actually ever was connected
Weird!
You wake up in a completely different summit after you meditate
Is there any explanation for that at all???
Huffed too much dream gas
The actual Vault is mostly likely almost entirely destroyed
NSJSBDJDABSIBSH
The vault spirits carry u on a gurney to the mountain
Now i’m starting to realize part of the personal project i had going might not make sense if that’s what eden’s like

Does it have to make sense? I don’t like restraining myself too much when making stuff up
More or less, ig
i like having stuff make sense somewhat and like
Long story short i have a village of skykids on the side of the eden mountain that i envisioned was more lush and alive (and a bit chilly because of the geography and the Eden diamond
)
But this map suggests to me that much more of the mountain is dead than I thought oops
That map was shown in a netease post about flight, i could grab the link in a moment!
AAAAAAAHHH WHAT IS THIS HELLISH CREATURE
cope ||/lh||
Maybe Vault is where the space-time warps? I saw a theory once in here, that the whole of Vault is an illusion and the place you reach after reliving the last elder's cutscene is the only real deal 👀
Oooh
I like to imagine that the reason vsult is Like that is bc it was manifested almost entirely out of purple light and without the elder there to maintain it it has started to decay
I think there’s a physical structure to the Vault that’s still there, but with the Eden calamity, purple light went rampant and obscured the Vault in liminality
OOOOOOO that’s a good take as well, I’m trying to think of a way to combine my whole hc with the weirdness being bc of night forgetting how it used to look with the one I mentioned above, bc it naturally works much better with yours. The issue is I love both of mine and cannot decide
I have my thoughts that after the Eden calamity, the Elders were just gone, detached from the world, stuck in their pocket dimensions. Without their control, their realms fell into disarray in top of the darkness swarming the world. This would be why the purple light in the Vault went rampant — without Night Elder’s control, it went wild
so maybe we sky kids hallucinated those stuff after being yeeted by krills and crabs in wasteland several times, lol
A variation of This is kinda what my original headcanon above implies! Which is funny because it means both of ours almost fit better with each other than with our original ones… although tbf yours fits great with both
hmm btw, how did darkness cover the kingdom, is there like a reason why that happened?
I dont know about other realms tho 😅 .. I was referring only to Vault in this case.. I see many theories of Violet light in here.. interesting..
Can anyone care to explain it to me, pls.. just curious
The ancestors invested in power diamond manufacturing, which seems to have had a byproduct of darkness pollution. It’s likely why the Wasteland is so polluted. Same could be said for Eden, even going as far to constructing a giant diamond. Then the Eden diamond went rogue, corrupted somehow, and started spewing darkness everywhere. The resultant Storm further spread darkness throughout the realms.
if u didnt understood what I said, sry then. But what I said is that when we were in wasteland, we were attacked by krills and crabs. So, when we went to the vault, we started hallucinating those stuff. (just a random theory I made which I thought would be funny lol)
I also saw a theory in YT where the Eden Elder was executed/killed by the Wasteland elder, could there also be a reason why they did that to him?
and from the intro of the game, theres a quote that said “if only they’d listened” but not mentioning who to listen to
That’s probably based on a bugged mural that was found in the Sanctuary Islands. Devs are notorious for placing their development assets in random spots where players could encounter them. Sanctuary preceded Prophecy and some Cave of Prophecy murals were placed in Sanctuary for safe keeping. Except players found it and assumed what it appeared to show was canon
This is the bugged mural I’m referring to. Despite the clarification that it’s placement wasn’t intentional, theorists went wild with it anyways.
idk what canon means btw, can you explain it? 😅
Ooohhhhh... now i get it.. nice nice
Lol my brain must have been mush😆
Canon means true in-game
ohh ok thx
Now i got ur theory, @mossy barn 😅
happy to help
imma go sleep, its night time in my place, oki byee
thx for the theories

this could work, but we don’t see any krills in vault, and the only crabs we see are on the lowest level, where vault is the least weird
so I doubt it
what about the krills before entering vault?
those are in wasteland, not vault
yeah but wasteland is the realm before vault
btw, you don’t have to ping me in replies, or reply to me when my message is right after yours!
That would work for places like starlight desert, but considering you don’t see any effects of purple light in wasteland at all - like, the entire realm looks completely normal - it does seem like a bit of a stretch.
oh ok, sorry its my bad habit
alright I guess I will study the purple light theory tomorrow since I dont really know much about it, thx for the info
https://sky.163.com/news/strategy/20211013/29298_978351.html woops i got distracted, heres the link to where it was posted
yo lorechat what's the current topic
Thankyu
Why is the Vault and Wasteland like that™️
Hello corn
imo Wasteland was already pretty done in by overexploitation when the Diamond destabilized - the Krill had probably already emerged by then (as seen by the krills in Treasure Reef despite it having less evidence of corruption than the mainland)
yeah I agree! Plus there’s stuff like the massive spears scattered around that seem to be weaponry against krills, that imply a fairly large number that were still around.
also stealthy survivors and courageous soldiers memories but tbf, those could’ve taken place after the disaster and we wouldn’t know
we can also see spirits reacting to/avoiding dark water, which would not make sense if the dark water was created after the memories
as for why Vault is the way it is...
I think it just ran out of power. Think about it - such a complex projection and the most advanced tech seen in all of Sky would probably need a significant amount of power, as well as sealing it off from the outside world.
Once the power from the generators dried up, there would be no way to maintain the projection or the containment field, and thus Vault would be exposed to the wind and the sand, causing what we see at the end after the Elder cutscene and also the sand on the first floor
Oh yeah that as well! and others like slouching soldier that are interacting with it in separate ways
as for why the sand couldn't be covered up by the projection...
I assume that the projector doesn't have advanced AI to deal with things that aren't meant to be there XD
Yeah that’s pretty what I think! The only difference is thst the elder was powerful enough to be the singular “generator” and also controlled it all, so whenever they got stuck in their pocket dimension would be when things started falling apart.
The memory lanterns might be able to keep bits of vault alive but not nearly enough, they’d be behind the stuff like the constellation projections I would think
which leads us to the question
why does vault elder have this weird dimension with the murals
because with the other elders it clearly shows them in the location at a varying period in the past
does the air prophet mask have fake eyes? i noticed that we can see our real eyes, but they're closed inside the mask. what's emitting the light? do masks themselves emit light, or is it only this particular mask that has fake eyes?
I would assume that they’re using the bit of light you gave them and the diamond you help with to project things for you!
plus they seem to be associated with purple light and illusions in general so maybe that bit gave them an extra boost with making their cutscene look more… full I guess?
but how does one get stuck in a pocket dimension that is powered by something that shows up at the end of the timeline
it would make sense if darkstone was involved bc the shattering memories seem to imply that they can trap memories and stuff inside
I mean the elder cutscenes seem to be memories - the temples of the Isle, Prairie and Forest elders aren't even built yet (Forest elder only has their anvil)
Valley and Wasteland's memories could happen later in the timeline which has implications that we won't discuss right now - perhaps Vault's is the same principle
Methinks its the mask itself
I also like to think that the eyes on masks are how skykids see no matter how they’re placed so vision on say, a bird mask would be quite different from a normal mask
Or its all the same
perhaps the Vault elder, being the scholar that they were had the foresight to program a specific memory that isn't "haha look at me show off" in the case that a new creature like the Sky Kid comes along
I personally doubt that the elder cutscenes are memories because of how we can physically interact with them and change the memories, as well as how they physically affect the temples after. As to why they look so empty, that seems to be a consequence of the dimension where the cutscenes take place, not bc nothing has been built yet (since you can’t see every detail of the landscape around them, just vague details that are important to each elder)
Like for example if the day cutscene took place before the temple was built, in the memory you would see the grassy hill and all
mmmmm true
what's with the emptiness of the elder cutscenes???
TGC EXPLAIN
Maybe symbolic? Or it’s like the prophecy trials where its not a real place per se
Maybe it’s like… their mind space idk
I think they take place in the same area as limbo and the shattering memories, that is to say, inside darkstone! They all look very similar.
I have a thought that darkness originates from another plane of existence and getting swarmed by said darkness (petrifying, swallowed by the leviathan) takes one to that plane. if the Elders were swamped in darkness by the Eden calamity in some shape or form, then they are in that plane and the darkness realm is empty.
the other idea is that limbo/void is just what it looks like when one is conscious and enveloped by darkness. there can be things within it, but darkness has nothing. the Elders, being powerful beings, may be able to change their pocket dimensions with the light they have.
I mean Light has some pretty funky properties like being solid, having stasis beams and also there are canonically portals in Sky so perhaps lighting the candles on the altar creates a temporary link to the sea of darkness in which the Elders now rest
I like that idea! It acts as a beacon or conduit of sorts that lets us connect to the Elder's pockets directly and safely instead of just becoming adrift in the sea.
perhaps the statue has something to do with it - there may be diamonds embedded in the eyes of the statues (hence the glow) that help with linking them? Diamonds/darkstone does have memory capturing properties and anything is possible in this world honestly
It would make sense with what information we have. We link to the Elder using the altar, then the restoration of their power sort of bursts out of/overloads the darkstone's capacity to keep them locked away, creating a beacon and restoring their constellation.
Yeah this makes sense, since before the cutscene they’re blue and afterwards they glow yellow, like lit darkstone
Also about dark water. In TLP season drinking spirit drink dark water instead of what he drinks in the original story. Could dark water have same effects canonicaly?
Yes and No.
It did spark an entertaining debate back when the season started. However, a word of caution is advised to not delve too far into the 'intoxicating' concepts on this large server.
blue is associated with passive darkness that contains light – think darkness plants. yellow power diamonds are when they are actively powering something.
if the Elder statues have blue eyes before skykids arrive, that could signal that they have light within that isn't being used. they turn yellow after because the Elders are capable of using their light again.
Yeah, like how ascended spirits turned yellow! I always assumed it was like that for the elders too but the darkstone explanation also makes sense and explains why we can connect to them
given dark water takes light and ancestors are beings of light, drinking dark water is basically poison, sapping out even their most inner light from within them. this could lead to similar effects of drunkenness such as memory loss, disorientation, and mood imbalances
I just had a random thought
what if darkness is inherently a container
yellow and white, leans more towards the Light. While blue and black leans towards Darkness.
Orange seems to sit in the middle, while still being regarded as part of the Light with being a complimentary (opposite) colour for Blu.e
I like to think of it kinda like a predator!
By the same token, the Light and Darkness (Yellow, orange, red, and blue) shifting scale may also apply to natural creatures vs artificial creations.
also what is the significance of the sky at the end of valley? it's... unnatural to me, the sky should not be that shade of vermillion
I always thought it was some sort of glow caused by the proximity to Eden. You can see the clouds of the storm in the Coliseum, showing that we're at the edge of the storm.
there's some concepts that talk about lower Valley of Triumph being "Golden Valley," the downtown districts. I think Golden Valley was swamped by Storm clouds and may even be part of modern Wasteland. the only thing that remains of it's glory is the yellow golden hue in the atmosphere
a saturation of Light in the air? hmmm...
it's the only area that's close to the Eye of Eden, not covered by clouds or corrupted by Darkness, and not some weird amalgam of Sky and TLP
What do you guys think the whale in the clouds on the way to Wasteland from Valley is doing there? I personally think it's there to make sure the Krills don't escape.
it's just chilling
I don't think that one whale could take on a krill - Darkness seems to be "stronger" than Light, or there is more Darkness than Light
Somebody proposed yesterday or a day before that that spirits have partially lost their memories thus can't remember their names and other things. That could be the evidence, tho might be a stretch
Yeah, this is a concept that I found interesting by as well, more so about the use of Darkness within Spirit culture (exploring the concept of its use as food/drink and all).
The LP season is an odd one because it’s hard to say what’s canon, as the Starlight Desert almost seems to be more of a dream world compared to others
Though all in all the Drinking spirit seems to show that drinking Darkness (or at least too much of it) isn’t good for you
I think so too, but not for the reason you stated
Krills seem incredibly aggressive, pouncing at any source of life
Whales seem really passive, there’s not much for them to attack with
Oh god TLP discussion is scary
The desert itself is probably real, as we go straight to Eden from there and get reborn, which makes it as real as it can get
I just love asking the most absurd questions and see them get debated about
Nahh they squished mantas for dark crystal 😭😭
you put the crystals in water and you get the manta back, kinda like those dino egg toys
Except the dinos sometimes turn out a bit weird but eh better than no mantas at all
It’s like a snail retreating into their shell, if you don’t keep a constant eye on the crystal the manta pops out again and tries to fly away
That's why they're condensed into diamond form
Forbidden medical pills
Fun fact: I actually developed a formula for mantas to dark crystals
Instead of dinosaurs it's baby mantas and the mom is Forest Elder
Kinda like pokemon but they need water to be released
Lore discussion and gen chat swapped places for no reason💀
it's lore if you're not a coward
Ok, so who is resh?
Prince/king
THAT dude at the end of vault memory, who is observed to eat orb?
Yeah !
Check out: #lore-discussion-spoilers message
But how we know his name, i mean there are no names that spirits have in general
It’s from concept art!
Ok what the actual **** is going on in gen chat rn
Don’t worry about it, genchat is just like that
Apparently they treat lorechat as some pretentious elite club or something? This is different then usual genchat
Cuz we are, they should go cry about it if they want to so badly (joke)
It's back to normal I think???
XD had to take a look.
It feels like different debate teams trying to figure out each other's game plans.
It’s hard to take most of the criticism from other channels seriously because it already comes from people I don’t like and would not want here for various reasons [trying to be vague but it’s not just because of annoyance]
I think it could be perceived as that due to how little activity we get compared to the rest of the server, and the fact that it’s at the very bottom of the server. It would be good if it moved up just a little bit, like at around #wishlist-and-ideas-archived
Lorechat is not at the very bottom of the server.
It isn't but if for example when i go to another chat for like a moment I have troubles finding it again which is pretty frustrating that it happens so much
I'd rather not talk about other chats here since I'm the first to call out gossiping tbh.
Also, I'm not too sure about getting more activity fixing the problem, I like it here when there's only a handful of folks. Not to mention last time people took interest en masse, mods were summoned...
Well, at the bottom of channels that can be easily moved. The bug reports and beta channels are highly specialized
True, Lore chat sits on the border of beta channels.
Right at the cusp of what is known, and what is not yet known in the world of Sky.
I honestly don’t care much what random people in genchat think of us.
I do kinda like being at the bottom of the server, but that’s due to selfishness because I’m both super shy and hate change more than anything
I would rather lorechat not have the activity of genchat or cozy cos those chats are overwhelming
I definitely agree, but the activity should be at around the level of, say #seasons-events-chat
Genchat can straight up crash my app when it's TS reveal period
To be fair it's best that lorechat stays where it is.
If somebody wants to know lore they will come here. If not they won't.
Tbh due to my horrendous social anxiety, if this channel got anywhere near the level of cozy, I probably wouldn’t be able to handle it and have to stop participating. I can’t speak for anyone else though.
Same tbh
Genchat thinks we’re prententious, rude, and thinks we’re bad for being not serious 24/7. I would rather not have those dolts there.
TS reveals turns Genchat into a virtual black Friday rush
But I get the impression that the channels in the “General” and “Sky” sections are somewhat structured from most to least active, and in that case it doesn’t make sense
Genchat when lorechat people literally just exist: 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡
Moving this channel to somewhere near #questions-and-help won’t cause an influx of activity on par with genchat and cozychat, but it will make this channel feel less like an afterthought
I think the problem is that we collectively know stuff such as elder names that we summarised in lists because we get asked that so often, and newcomers misinterpret that as a robotic copypaste to get them out of our way asap when it's just meant to be helpful even if it's not a personalised answer
Beta is near bottom bc beta is just that small. Lore is near beta when it comes to information and spoilers, so they are near. Once again, if somebody want to know the lore they will come here themselves
The same thing will happen if it moves a few channels up.
Assuming the majority of people here are on mobile, this is what they’ll see when they first join the server:
Newcomers should see rules and news first tbh so they know how to interact with the server. That’s just basic Discord courtesy
Even if you collapse the rules and news section, #questions-and-help doesn’t show up, let alone #lore-discussion-spoilers
Fair
It’s probably this, and some rumors that are just in bad faith unfortunately. Can’t really do much about those.
I have seen some people mad in general that we don’t always talk about serious stuff, for instance. Like that’s not exactly a standard I care about meeting.
Wait, this is clear hypocrisy. How is this channel supposed to be serious while #general-sky-discussion is like the ruler of chaos
And like, not gonna lie some people come in here with ideas that have been so done and redone they are bland, thinking about the cheap edgy violent stuff like spirits abusing skykids or the usual "what if that wholesome game was actually dark" (it is but not this violently) kinda stuff, which they expect us to interact with but it just makes things awkward, especially if another lore-related convo was going on at the same time.
That’s just all general channels in every largely popular Discord server
I’m trying to be super general here so that it does not stray into gossip territory because I definitely do not want that, also. Just something to bear in mind
But still, there’s no point in #lore-discussion-spoilers being constantly serious and trying to maintain an attitude of stiffness, that’ll push even more lore moths away
Yeah, if we did that they’d call us pretentious more. Really no winning here, so I don’t really care about playing that game.
Honestly it's just bad vibes when everytime we get a massive call to see us here (cool, I love seeing new folks taking interest in lore), it's people that try to shut down lgbt topics. Protip, if you're uncomfortable because we ask you to aknowledge your cisnormative biases, maybe you feeling unwelcome here is warranted.
sorry to whoever thinks were smary i put my clown shoes everytime i enter this channel
YEAH LIKE. I generally like when new people come, but all the times I can count that a bunch of new people have flooded in all at once has not been for good reasons
Question, would it improve server activity for users to have a 'fanon' channel?
Or would it be a written counterpart of the chaotic fanart channel?
Idk where the idea that lorechat is an ivory tower comes from. Anyone who does care about Sky’s lore is welcomed here. They can literally just jump in with a current conversation, bring up a topic they’re interested in if the channel is slow, and or join in the humor. One thing about enjoying Sky is to not take it seriously sometimes, to have fun with it.
Maybe a separate rules list should be made for this channel so gen people know what to expect
I don’t think so, #lore-discussion-spoilers already kinda deals with that
same .one time I forgot what wind was
true
I had to block people who were straight up insulting me in my DMs because I got attention here so honestly, I don't think I'm in the wrong to be wary sometimes...
My primary goal for this channel to help as many lore moths as possible, and make sure they’re actively thinking about and contributing to the Sky lore.
Oh and also having fun that too
but it does put a smile on my face when someone who previously knew nothing about Sky lore make wonderful theories of their own
I feel that with many of you people here as well
yeah… I want to be open and welcoming, but not at the expense of myself and my friends. Without going in detail I have experienced similar things especially during ts hints [which tbf, is the only reason I really go in gen]
Sky teaching people to be kind and friendly no matter what
Some weird people:
I just wanna vibe while musing about Sky’s world and I love lorechat vibes cos we honestly get that. I would welcome anyone who matches and amplifies these vibes. There are unfortunately too many who run on different wavelengths and think anyone who doesn’t conform to their energy is bad and should change
The rules aren't that different though.
Lorechat rules is just
- be respectful
- stay on topic
- understand we don’t know anything for sure.
That’s it
This is honestly the only chatting type channel (like, not stuff like questions and help) where I feel safe all the time because I’ve seen and sometimes experienced so much nastiness in other places. I’m just dropping that in here.
stay on topic isnt even really a rule imo since it's so easy to derail one (and admittedly, yeah, we dont talke about lore as much when there's nothing new)
And it gets boring discussing the barely-present king for the nth time
I think “off topic” in this case means mostly explicitly non-Sky things. Like don’t walk into lorechat with a thousand-page summary on Minecraft gameplay
What if sky king was prince in the past 🤔
I feel like we're advertised as this group of folks that know everything so they expect us to produce galaxy brain takes, but then get surprised to see queer banter
I understand these may be new topics for some but I just back out and let others have their fun.
The real truth is that you cannot separate the Galaxy brain takes from the queer banter,
SO TRUE BESTIE
Sometimes blokes will come in asking if we could give the entire story of Sky and we’re just yea, I wish
Everyone is dead. That's the ultimate answer. That's what I always say.
tranchantment guide real
“How did everyone die?”
Darkness, presumably
Big boom, king is dumb
slander
Lemme add some nuance: it may not be the king’s fault
If I were to imagine how skykids would be like (vehemently ignoring the 8 player cap and 'grey stranger' feature), it is because of Lorechat (and Genchat) that I can envision how skykids can be kind, opening and helpful characters.
Who would help get moths started and guide each other through the realms. But by the same token, there can be skykids that are a bit cheeky, skykids that can cop an attitude, or act toxic and chaotic.
However, this would fully depend on the personality and character of the player behind the skykid. And no matter how much the game would want to portray the idealised skykid character, that image is at most a guideline for every player in the game to start off as a foundation to their characters.
While a skykid would still be a force of good at their core, a skykid with a human mind (ergo the player) will more likely than not have a personality that would differ from the 'standard skykid image', as there is no such thing as a true idealised player.
honestly the recent news post already give us a lot of lore, we now have it confirmed that the ancestors may have caused their own demise by taking too much light from the winds and the dissapearance of (assumedly) elder creatures.
Aalsays to Naihho to Amander to Wanin to Galona spectrum
(They don't need to know)
…..Light god sends us down to go send Spirits to heaven but they still are bound to the land because of darkness grinding.
This will be heresy to #general-sky-discussion! You cannot let anyone know!
Just don't tell them about huge laser from space, that my favorite one🥺
im actually doing great just vibing on the sidelines and ruminating on stuff, TGC is now feeding us material on the regular with the poems, and with these new pieces we can now put together old ones (wildly waving the sneezing geographer mural books) !
The new lore bits honestly help make it a bit more clear then before…. With all the clouds very much blocking more lore….
I should piece together a timeline with the shattering stuff and satellite tidbits from other seasons, i had this whole timeline idea using the switch trailer and intros from LA and past versions of the live game
Yeah, this may give more relevance to the Season of Flight maybe?
Season of Flight is already really important imo ! We know ancestors could somehow control migration paths to use them themselves for example.
||Whenever u fly through the orbit, u can honk (normal skykid honk) and see the Ascension music is the same sound as your own Honk. Which can come to the conclusion that the whole background music from the orbit isn't a background music but all the souls of Skykids flying and surrounding u through your journey of ascension.||
……That is really cool.
This is true even in Orbit
boom
If u think about it, it's kinda sad cause they're all singing on for your new journey of ascension, while they keep flying around the orbit eternally, in an infinite time loop without knowing they're in one.
I know, but I want MORE
I love the little fruit snacks
Btw you don’t have to spoiler tag text here. Hence lore-discussion-spoilers.
I don’t believe Sky exists in a time loop. I think beings of light, free of their physical vessels, are able to bond and connect with each other in a way they couldn’t do in the world. Even just approaching the Light during ascension do beings of light connect to each other and feel that wholeness within togetherness. Hence skykids’ ability to sing in Harmony
Well doesn't infinite rebirths sound like a time loop to u?
No, just being reborn into the world again
I think there's a difference between a cycle and a loop, imo a time loop would be more like a groundhog day scenario, while the cycle of light is something that repeats but not so much that it feels like your previous lives are exactly like your current one
Not time loop, but a cycle. As after we relive spirit memories, we don't need to do it again
Time loops don’t see progression because anything done is reversed. In a cycle, things happen again, maybe in the same or different ways, even if the conclusion is the same or similar
Ok tbh it's probably neither of those, as all we've done remains the same after each rebirth.
There are some things that keep reappearing even if we stop them (like the same elder cutscene always play, darkness plants always growing in the same place), but from what I can tell it seems to be more game limitation stuff than lore. Especially when you get to seasons like flight, sanctuary and enchantment where you slowly restore a place over time and it doesn’t revert to its previous state when you leave and come back
Tgc could at least make different elder cutscenes or something for before and after meeting them for the first time
New content for the elders feels overdue.
While spirit memories remain, spirits remain ascended. You could free a petrified spirit but they don’t reappear at Elder temples.
ty for pointing this out this gives me lots of ideas

There is also the seasonal areas being revealed over time and seasonal spirits returning as TS or for events
ALSO important question; who do yall think the singing voice in ascension is (in terms of lore not the VA)
Is there just Not Lore because its more about the emotional impact or otherwise

The Light
Yeah I like to imagine it’s just the Light generally! And also that it sings to us throughout the realms, and that’s what the songs for each place are.
The light must need a glass of water then
The Light has to negotiate with millions of singing voices, cut it some slack
i think the light sings really well (i genuinely like the OST, Somersault, Wind Paths and Flight my beloved)
To be fair with millions of beings making up your entire existence there's gotta be at least a couple thousand who can sing well
Some rando sees that they’re all singing and starts humming a random song to harass everyone else with, leaving the tune in shambles
Someone infects the Light with a brainworm
JAJSHSHSHSBDHS
Imagine dying and then being reborn and ascending to Orbit hearing the distant humming of the Light singing Britney Spears' "Toxic"
Everyone trying to sing a nice lullaby for the skykid getting reborn and some idiot starts barking
Hey! My first time writing here. Can anyone please explain to me what’s the story behind the structures in starlight desert? I was wandering around there and I decided to explore them and I found them very interesting.
Reason why Pepo is banned from Orbit
I’m not sure, the lore around that season is very confusing. In my opinion, they were just placed there randomly lorewise. It’s possible that they’re just illusions and aren’t wholly based in reality.
The Islands represent the vices the TLP spirits represent. The ruler is on a crown, the gloating narcissist is on a stage, the lamplighter is in a giant lamp, etc.
There’s a thought that the Starlighth Desert is swamped in purple light, which may cause things to manifest from ones mind. The spirits could have wandered in there and unintentionally made those islands from the purple light affecting them
As the season area drew inspiration from the books, like the name of the area states, "where dreamlike worlds collide" (Unless I am misremembering it).
Each area with their spirit combines characteristics of both the book and the world of sky. Essentially making each area for their spirit be like their own little world.
For example, the gloating narcissist likes to performs, so their area is a stage that is reminiscent to the valley. The slouching soldier gets a large jar full of dark water, a dank and dark place they sulk around in and have a identity crisis over drinking water (reminiscent to the wasteland). The geographer loves reading books, but is oblivious to what is around them, kinda similar to Vault. Then there is king and his small island, that is now in ruins and empty without a kingdom to rule over. Then there is the lamplighter who diligently lights a lamp if it is off, and then turns it off because it is on, which is possibly a reference to a system that is flawed and only those involved in it are trapped in a repeating cycle. Lastly, there is the accountant, who hoards stars (kinda similar to day elder's jar temple).
Each spirit has a trait that is ultimately flawed, but still relatable to adults, as well as children who watch adults.
There is even concept art that further shows this if you like to look into it
I like how most of the concept art of the these spirits basically got in game, in some more adjusted ways
The Star Collector's prop looked so complicated oml imagine if that was still in-game
Imagine that the Pharoah's crowns made into the game.
If memory serves me well, 2 of the geographer's hats reprepresent the upper and lower kingdoms of egypt.
C would be the lower, and D would be the upper.
Combine them and you have the pharoah of all of Ancient Egypt.
That would have been a homerun for Vault to have Egyptian influences.
Really? It feels active enough to me
Then again I’m not the type who can keep up with the immense speed of the gen chat
Skybrah's fun fact of the day: 8 hours of sneep snorp a day keeps Dark Dragons away
I get more than eight hours of sleep per day beat that
Woah the king used to be a snake head???
(Ahhh I love this concept art.
)
omg i’ve never seen the french boy concepts before
I also found it interesting how they made the Spirits wear chains, we totally makes me think of ghost guy from the Christmas Carol. You know, “I forged these chains in life!!” Guy
Which I wonder if that’s what happened to these Spirits? They forged those chains in life, of the stuff that they unhealthily obsessed over in life, so they are unable to reach the afterlife due to these unhealthy ties (which, as you can tell, I’m incorporating some Buddhist ideas here)
Thank you guys so much for the answers!!
I kind of see the chains as something like "The workers have nothing to lose but their chains," like they will lose nothing by giving up their unhealthy habits but keep holding onto them because they're addictive
hm?
Oh, the king's mask.
I thought it was a frog, like the fables of frogs being a prince.
..wait a minute.
PRINCE!?
Did the devs honestly sneak in a fable reference of the Prince Frog in Sky!!?
Is this a hidden meaning of the Sky Prince being a character that was disobedient, then punished for it. And now lives in another form that we cannot recognise???
In the tale, a spoiled princess reluctantly befriends the Frog Prince, whom she met after dropping a golden ball into a pond under a linden tree, and he retrieves it for her in exchange for her friendship. The Frog Prince, who is under a wicked fairy's spell, magically transforms back into a handsome prince.
Yes, Glad you have the same idea 🙂
There may as well be more sneaky little reference like that ❤️
I remembered the little prince trying to tame the krill, that based from the book, scene where the little prince died by snake bite... (From fan comic about the little prince)
OH
Could the beckoning ruler represent isle elder in a way
NO I MEANT THE OTHER GUY SORRY
More likely the valley twins. Especially with the twin statues, the performance, and similar outfit.
I may be mistaken, though the king could be dawn's
The throne has the prophecy detail, and similar empty feel with a winged light hidden inside it.
Beckoning Ruler — Isle Elder
Star Collector — Prairie Elder
Stretching Lamplighter — Forest Elder
Gloating Narcissist — Valley Elder(s)
Slouching Soldier — Wasteland Elder
Sneezing Geographer — Vault Elder
Actually yes! There’s a common theory that each of the tlp spirits are based off one of the elders to an extent. Beckoning ruler is Dawn!
the valley twins would be gloat
Yeee
Also like
The Ruler has no one to listen to him or heed his orders any longer (aside from statues which are. Statues)
Kinda like how isle elder got shut out from the affairs of the kingdom
Also the way they try to control birds in their memory, dawn activity
Anyways i’m at a fancy restaurant I should probably put my phone away
Every time i come here yall give me great ideas for my fan stuff
Fun fact actually, there are 8 statues on rulers island, one for each of the elders if you count both twins and the king… I had a bunch of pics of them hold on
Yeah! These! One of them is horribly ruined and the other is split down the middle just like dusk’s altar. I had to put black and white filters on them because discord thought they were inappropriate either.
you can see vela and alasdair in these pics also
hi
i have a headcanon that the TLP spirits are caricatures of the elders (= how they were seen) while the basegame spirits with the elder masks reflect how the elders themselves felt
dawn for example may have been percieved like the bossy beckoning ruler, while refusing voyager may hint they were protecting something from the past that they found important
I wanna hear more of this headcanon

YEAH YEAH YEAH THIS IS WHAT I THINK TOO. I have to wonder if they are caricatures, who created them. bc they’re really mean to all the elders so I don’t think it was any of them
How many TLP Spirits are there? Maybe we could find a caricature for the Eden Elder
there are 6! maybe that flower is up to soemthing
Damn, but the King is the seventh Elder 😔
i am procrastinating dinner for this but hell ya lore
Day: seen as a collector (Star Collector), likely was tired (Exhausted Dock Worker). Maybe they were collecting a lot of light for the kingdom to the point of exhausting themselves ? Or maybe they didnt want to continue abusing it and light creatures, so they were depicted as greedy for keeping it in their realm
Rain: seen as an overworked/workaholic (Stretching Lamplighter), likely carrying a lot of guilt (Apologetic Lumberjack); I like to think that they discovered darkstone and regret doing so because of the effects...
Sunset: seen as vain (Gloating Narcissist), doesnt have an elder mask spirit but going off the matching Backflip Champion and Bowing Medalist ones, maybe they were just having fun doing sports and respected fair play (ngl this one is complicated)
Dusk: seen as pathetic (Slouching Soldier), likely was gravely wounded (Fainting Warrior), maybe they hid that scar and people saw weakness they thought was cowardice.
Night: seen as scholarly to a fault (Sneezing Geographer), likely was busy with students (Levitating Adept)
salem dont compare me to a certain someone from alasdair's fics, im gonna get dinner asap now
YEAH I REALLY LOVE AND SHARE THESE IDEAS, also 🤝🤝 on sunset being hard because the spirits that match their mask are literally just Guys. It could be about them being super competitive and accomplished, as well as maybe one of them being into manta racing bc backflip rides a manta around, but it’s super hard to tell
AIEJWODJWI I WASNT GOING TO SAY IT BECAUSE I ALSO PUT OFF DINNER TO YELL ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS
the shushing light scholar syndrome
I regularly skip breakfast to attend wax hour bc I’m usually not that hungry anyways and I knew as soon as I admitted it the jokes that would flood in
top 10 moments before history was made: landing on the lightseeker's platform to blow them a kiss because ze decided to write about them
You say the flower, but I say maybe the PRINCE HIMSELF is up to something......
THE HOLY RELICS
You can carbon date this picture because of how tall I am
spell to make salem even smaller, like to charge, reblog to cast
Shushing light scholar evil
shushing light scholar isnt evil, they made the shush emote at fireworks spammers when they saw i got overhelmed, they're the misunderstood autistic icon we need
Okay I got momentarily distracted by the meme, sorry. But in all actuality I can kinda see this and was wondering it for a little bit. I mean both of them fell from the sky and presumably died in Eden… hmmm…
It’s really hard to tell and I don’t know if it would tell us much anyways so I basically just went Huh… what if… and then forgot about it
Cus i was reliving their memory and i was at the end and i dropped the light in between one of the cracks and it fell into the void and died i was. Very angry to say the least
skill issue
you dropped THEIR light and are calling THEM evil? Victim blaming… /j
Yeah I just think that if we're going with the theory of TLP spirits being caricatures of the elders then the Prince must be... The Prince...?
WHICH MEANS
THE ROSE IS THE VOID OF SHATTERING
THE ROSE KILLED THEM ALL
Grabs you and throws u into fire prophet’s galo thymos shrine room (its hidden in his trial)
cranky because you cant jump from platform to platform, aren't you
Isn’t galo thymos a type of sports drink with electrolytes in it? /j
LMAO no its an anime firefighter guy
i dont watch anna may
Fire prophet likes anime i think
One of the hints right
Also i don’t either a friend wanted to watch a movie with me
Fire Prophet sounds like an absolute friend, I'd make them popcorn
I just looked it up in Google and damn I can see why Fire Prophet would have a shrine to him
if we are saying that tlp is supposed to mirror the king does that mean night canonically thought they were really weird and tried to study them like bacteria
sometimes i think abt how one of fire prophets hints is watches anime n air prophet has one that says they watch anime w a friend like……….bro……they watch anime together……..
Gosh i wanna draw this so bad now
HELP
thats what psychologists do when they find out you're ND
fire prophet makes popcorn with their mind
I'M CRYINF
I say bacteria because they are short enough to be viewed under a microscope
MICROWAVELENGHTS
BDJSBJDDJHDJ
i have a hc that the prophets have atla style bending w their associated elements so. Handing fire proph one of those popcorn microwave bags and having them hold it + that hc = 🍿
Wait wait but hold on THIS JUST GAVE ME AN IDEA ABOUT TLP AND VAULT AND THE PRINCE
YES THATS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY. they use the fire powers just to cook things like popcorn and hot pockets
YO
AAAAAAAAAA
GRABBING THIS BOOK AND
maybe i am fire prophet
Could LP be a caricature of the King/Prince?? ... Since the King may be a Skykid like us, and one of the spirits from TLP season was trying to find one Kid from the star but could not see the kid by his side
Pls tell me we’re gonna get seasonal concept art oh my goddd
i intend to buy that book so if there's lore in there, you guys will be the first to know

I really really want to see Gratitude concepts
There’s like nothing becomes emo
MORE LIGHTSEEKER AND FLIGHT CONCEPT ART I NEED TO SEE MY BLORBOS
Dreams concept art…
it would be so cute
assembly concept art if they arent cowards
I got a lore question: what is megabird (a.k.a the light)'s enemy, is it eden or someone else, I am working on a art of it ^^'
That’s a lie I cannot focus anything else but on the possibility of ench/prophecy concept art. Especially if it confirms they have a link of some kind
AAA ART BOOK YES
Yes
I feel like ls concept art kinda is assembly concept art in a way
I just had an idea concerning TLP
In geographer's memory we see them so busy studying a prophecy of their meeting with a visitor from another planet that they don't notice that visitor is with them
If we combine this with the theory of caricatures maybe VAULT WAS OBSESSED WITH THE PROPHECY MURALS and when the real Chosen One arrived they were just ignored because no one thought they were the One they were waiting for and they they kept waiting and studying the prophecy while One was just ignored
Also wow Sky art book?????
Feels like some old stuff was recycled, esp the more playful concepts
I WANT THE ASSEMBLY CONCEPT ART SO IT FINALLY CONFIRMS HOW ITS CONNECTED TO LS SOOOO BAD
Just absolutely anything we haven’t seen before
id love to see more art than whats offered in tom zhao’s portfolio, i just dont know where to look
Inb4 it's just a compilation of Tom Zhao's most well known pieces
We have 1 (one) crumb of Enchantment concept art from Ash’s portfolio
i know we have a handful already but i am going pspspsps at the elder concepts maybe even more of these
GOD IF ITS ALL STUFF WEVE SEEN ALREADY I WILL CRY 💔💔💔
Tgc shared stuff on their livestreams for the first few seasons iirc
Mostly belonging and lightseekers tho
looks too thick for that, journey artbook was originally 60 bucks so i am sure the sky one will be big enough to warrant that price
Honestly it might be an even mix of both but the preview post of that book, it looks hella heavy
Hmm true
Reika Yoshino has some officials artworks on Artstation
throwing the sky art book as a weapon
tgc tgc pspspspsp
i could smash a window with that book
lore chat weapon of choice
a book
And maybe, just maybe, there could be more volumes, Sky art books have always been in high demand
YESSS seasonal volume mayb
tgc i will pay real money for art books pspspspsppspspsppspspspspspspsppsps
i was gonna say the splat artbook was $30 but now seeing it might be double that im kind of scared
journey artbook is out of print and now around 500 bucks online
The splatoon artbooks are absolutely HUGE btw
oh my god im so excited hopefully its released this year/next merch wave
what if they forget about it like spirit props /j
Doomed timeline
If this book turns out to not have anything new we should riot by creating our own lore bible and make a physical version of it
It should be all the mspaint comics of spirits goofing around that lorechat has made
@tacit zinc The link to her artstation ... She is an Environment Artist at TGC https://www.artstation.com/ryoshino
U had me there for a second
those arts were made by vela btw!
Homestuck? In my lorechat? 😱😱😱😱🤓‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Silence.
samekh is a valid troll name
dark i read homestuck too, we're all cringe here
You got Samekhed
Ash may or may not have read homestuck/gen
You’re right…
what is homestuck even about I never read it. Is it like. A bunch of people stuck in their house
valley eldered even
someone quick draw them as trolls
Haven't read it either but from what I've heard it's best not to know
Ignorance is bliss sometimes
I literally cannot explain homestuck in a concise manner
I don’t think it’s possible to explain unless you read it for yourself, even I still have no idea 10k panels later
hey since we have some zodiac signs for some spirits would it be possible to. Give them trollsonas
i only read to act like… 3
Ancestor mother complains to the King after Samekh stole the child's ball while yelling "You just got Valley Eldered"
It’s like 8,000 pages☠️ i like it though
I want to see Tsadi and Resh getting a divorce in court; Lamed is the judge lol
homestuck summary: kid triggers the end of the world by loading a cursed game, has adventures with his friends in a universe parallel to zodiac gremlins.
all I’m envisioning when people say troll is like the troll meme face
Krii have we met today?
YEAH
JEALOUSY
yooo you guys got to meet up? Awesome!
Not entirely so
normal people moment
Valley Elders scene except their masks are replaced with rage comics faces
holy honk thats a lot of Sky Kids

which spirit would do the homestuck sharpie bath very important question
fire prophet
writing this down in me notes
theres so much surface to cover on this lad they wanted to try the bath
No cus i asked her if the TS was a homestuck or smth like that (spin dancer hints) and they said they were on tumblr at that time
i think they're still on tumblr lbr
(Ash personally was, that is. I don’t remember the details but it’s a strong possibility Ash was a homestuck)
WEEPING
We all were on Tumblr
Where were you in 2012 if not on tumblr
I only read homestuck long after it ended
Gloating Narcissist
watching popularmmos on yt or something
I was on. My leapfrog explorer idk
I disagree with the fire prophet assessment, the truth is that this is the actual reason why the elders skin is dark gray
HELP
im still on tumblr unfortunately, its the only social media where i post my art 💔
also hiveswap is rlly cool 👍
good lird what is going on in here. why is h*mestuck the topic of debate

Bruh there’s this dude in my history class who reads warrior cats but when i called him a furry he got SO angry ☠️ (we’re both in high school)
IM SOBIGNFIGNSHW
this is one of the most terrifying sentences to read when you are friends with someone whose diet consists almost 80% of grilled cheese
Embrace the cringe you cannot run away ❤️
cant get over how on the ts list site thing the only thing for leap is
like i
so back in the good ol days of 2014 i would be on a specific minecraft server wherw i would roleplay warrior cats as a half werewolf half cat half vampire you see this was the peak of my existence
Ok but
Imo we need to make a full list of every spirits favorite minecraft biome
reblog to cheese them like to cheese them
no a full list of every spirit’s homestuck aspect
N…no
pulls out that one troll sign quiz
leaping dancers only hint is the most just a guy thing ever written, I love it

The timeline doesn’t align so I doubt he is even aware
Helkipi got worse

yeah ik that's why i said 'if' i miss my boy 😞
Also may i have a drop of context for the Butter Incident
staring at galona with evil thoughts in my mind
THIS IS A THING?
Oops, (Summons Baud)
I convinced vela that I thought butter was liquid cheese on two separate occasions. Both times they fully believed me until I told them I was messing with them
@tacit zinc go on
Choose your alignment
wait it’s
not
I eat more than grilled cheese. The percentage should be 20%
oreos dipped in noodle broth taste so good
