Whenever I get in, the screen will stuck in white and cannot do anything until the window pop up saying Sky has stopped working so I can close the game that way

Purple Ult umbrella is "legal", but it's actaually pretty rare! Only players who bought it during lightseekrs beta had it show up in their closets some 2 years later. If you didnt buy it during beta lightseekers, you wouldnt have it. For ecample: me I beta tested lightseekers, but decided to do a different spirit instead of the one with the to-be ultimate. the purple umbrella got removed mid season test

close! Progress wipe actually occured before the game launched to live in July 2019. However, Gratitude and Lightseekers ultimates were not obtainable from testing the seasons, because seasons back then only ran about 2-3 weeks, and did not have a seasonal candle boost, unlike seasons tested in beta now. You were lucky if you could complete 2 lightseeker spirit trees before the beta period for that season ended.

Pendants from both seasons though are possible, although theyre a little rarer just cause the beta test was smaller back then + its been some time

In any case, it's good to report anyone with those two ultimates if you encounter them. If it happens to be the rare instance of a legitimate circumstance such as a dev, or a case where an item is gifted to someone by the devs (for example, iirc a foxband member has a deer), then a report wont hurt their account.

This is not true. There has only been a progress wipe before iOS release in June 2019 and before that only Winter/Rhythm and Gratitude were tested. Lightseekers was tested after that and only ran a short time, so that people didn't have time to collect the ultimate. @wicked sedge @tawdry pine

The deep call feature is good, but only to an extent. The memory candles I’ve seen that used them created bright halos that were almost blinding, because the player was “spamming”. This is also a general problem especially in enclosed spaces, such as 8-player elevator.

There is a misconception that deep honking promotes server merges.

with call spamming, yeah that could become a problem, i could definitely see a lot of people just record the candle with crab call spam and the double tap 'glitch' to make it louder

(now that i think about it tho, muting/dimming the light effect in real time if someone continues to spam it wouldnt hurt anything tho, and deep calls can often make the game laggy so it might help out a lot to stop spammers from being visually and vocally annoying. the deep call will still have the same effect of giving light and calling butterflies, just a bit more invisibly)

I’ve tested (in live) to wait with and without deep calls since a long way back, also when the plants are not burning as they should, and more often than not, deepcalling does in a way makes the server quicker to merge, helping the flame in our candles to burn plants. No idea how, but just my timing back then shows so, several times. It’s new to know that deep calling isn’t really useful to anything aside from charging/calling people.

its really hard to make an all universal placable everywhere thing and not let it stick out especially when you can place lots of them
even technically the usual wax candles stand out, we just got used to it, but not you abyss entrance red candles, you will always stick out...

people did suggest more blending in stuff like mushrooms or flowers etc.... but it will still pop out in other non natural areas, colors are also an issue

death stranding have a message system where you can pop messages everywhere but it didn't stand out as much because the thing displaying the messages, in sky in this case is the candle itself is small in size, however the landscape being all dark gritty rock also contributes to that, just like how water in sky is all the same so boats don't pop out so bad, because its natural

in my very own opinion areas in sky are simply too varied in textures, colors and lighting to support shared memories in its current form

the thing about regular candles is that the devs have carefully placed them in spots where they look nice, and also they always come in clusters so they don't stick out alone like the memory candles do but when you let players place single candles wherever on the map, it becomes crowded and not aesthetically pleasing at all

In regards to what Vaelyn said in Beta Pics, I'm also a non-beta switch player. Really wish instead of the button mapping pop up being set to ZL it did something similar to Astroneer, where you can hold down a button to use a joystick controlled cursor on the console ports and the button mapping guide be placed in the control settings menu. The memory candles are neat, but boy howdy am I anticipating it being a pain to properly interact with stuff on controller.

The button map in the settings would be much more useful for us, holding ZL and then using one of the joysticks to switch to a different locked on target would be amazing similar to BotW or Kingdom Hearts target switching, the biggest benefit of playing on the switch is being able to play it on a big screen and see all the beautiful scenery, and use a controller, but the way it is configured now it’s basically a single button game for all interactions with another object/player and it would be such a QoL improvement to be able to prioritize what I actually want to interact with

Players come and go. The game is heavily focused on cosmetics and ways of expression you can achieve with it but all of that requires a cycle of grind. It is rather hard to get on the game continuously (at least for me) without an active friend group for example.

Yes, a lot from the concepts has been left out or not presented in the game. In the end, as of right now, you have to do the digging yourself since the game doesn’t really present any of that on a more detailed degree. A lot of things get scrapped or not found necessary to be brought out after all, concepts often stay concepts. I think a lot is left to the speculation of the player.

The thing is... I remember how much of a hype season of prophecy and season of enchantment were. They were the first time in a long while we got seasons with lore - a peek into the past. I’m not sure why, but I’m always expecting something to happen in sky, but that something just isn’t happening :(
I don’t find myself as enthralled when a new season is released with lore anymore. I want to know more about the prince, why the sky kingdom became what it became.. but when a season comes out with lore and we get a beak with 3 seasons being filler - it kind of kills your love for the lore

This! I have been requesting for mini games for sooo long. I thought that season of assembly was going to be that, I thought we would finally be able to make like mini hoop races with friends. The traveling spirit system and high price of cosmetics in events does kill a lot of social interaction for me. I’m sure this is the case for most people too. “Why should I spend a candle to chat with a stranger when that candle can get me a cape from a traveling spirit? Or get a new cosmetic from an event spirit?”
It also doesn’t help that new social spaces are meant to give wax but they don’t actually give you enough wax fast enough... I.e if I spend 30 minutes chatting with someone I may get 3 candles,but that same 30 minutes could have gotten me 12 candles
So literally, the only social activity people find worth doing with friends is candle running..

Beta invites do not come at a set time- it's quite "random", as they happen when the developers need more testers at a time they are available to send out invites (it maybe be only one wave, or multiple)

It has a limited capacity but I don't think that number is disclosed. I've seen waves fill up under 5 minutes, and a few take a couple of hours 😄 Depends on your platform, too, as Android and iOS have very different testing programs. Basically, you just have to follow the instructions in #beta-faq to be notified and get lucky

you should know, beta is there to test and not for early access. There are lots of bugs (that you'll have to report) and your progress may be wiped. When testing, you also test new mechanics and not just cosmetics which you have to give feedback on (and these may not even make it to live in a long time)

And also, if I understand you correctly, there is no special way to access old seasonal cosmetics in beta. TS does come, but not always the same one as in Live.

If someone has given you the impression that beta has everything from all past seasons and IAPs, I strongly suspect those are not using legal means to access them.

I'm sorry that you're feeling this way about Sky, but please bear in mind that the beta version is not, and will never be a substitute for the live version where everything is free to all players. The duration of the seasons and events are shortened, IAPs/adventure passes are free for testing purposes, and content in beta is subject to change. The beta is a testing environment where testers are offering feedback to content that's in testing, and submit bug reports before they make their way to live. Not to mention how your progress can be wiped overnight. As for joining beta, everybody has to wait for invite waves, so I really don't think it's unfair for anyone. If you find the differences between the two versions (referring to the durations of events and seasons specifically), you should head over to #live-feedback and express your thoughts there. I hope this was a clear explanation for you!

It is definitely fun to be in beta, but it's also repetitive, frustrating, challenging. You always run the risk of losing what you gained.

In beta, we don't just take all the free stuff & go. I remember when I first got in, one of the first bugs I encountered was the bright, flashing colors/lights bug on Android back when Abyss started, so I was barely able to play. In between season/event testing it's also very empty. It really isn't a "paradise," that's just what all the content creators like to make you think, with all their fancy vids and infographics

I think it seems so elusive because a lot of ppl think as beta as "early access" when it isn't, we're just testing upcoming stuff that will end up in live anyway (well, most of the time)

For example wearing a certain combination with a bowtie caused catastrophic phone shutdowns in one test build- not fun!

But beta testers and anyone can come to give feedback to ask for a fair share of good things for free to play players in discussion here and in #beta-feedback

I don't think beta is paradise but like.. why make it sound like it's hell. It is like live but with some bonus. Get free access to stuff, get to test new ideas, stuff is free. Overall the game play is the same, friends are same. It is often more empty but I don't consider it as a negative thing. Have been on beta since Season of Dreams and no progress wipe has happened. So that one time yall had progress wipe isn't a very good example to scare ppl off wanting to play beta. Bugs are fun too ngl.. I haven't yet had a bug that would make me wanna quit or make me regret beta.

EDIT: Only downside to beta I can think of is that the amount of hackers (or illegitimate exploit useres) is too damn high

I think it's more about the fact that we can't take our beta access or items for granted. Latest example is the Kizuna AI outfit. But other things may be a reshuffle in a seasonal spirit tree, where some players are just not able to get the final items after that. There's no compensation for things like that. We're not here for our enjoyment, but for TGC's benefit. (I think Mirian worded it better.)

Guys quick question, what do you guys think about events having event currency? Currently sky has 2 currencies in it- candles and hearts
And Everything in game uses those 2 currencies

Which makes candles an incredibly hard resource to come by - especially when traveling spirits cost a lot of money, making friends is expensive and buying event cosmetics is expensive

For me personally, that makes events sort of pointless and I rarely do them, cause I experience them the first day and after that I don’t really go back to the area

Don’t you guys think that making events longer and therefore off season longer and having events have more gameplay mechanics - one that allows players to collect event tokens which they can then redeem for event cosmetics - would make sky feel more fresher?

Chicken? they look odd compared to other flat masks available but it's a great addition to the masks collection. I may never wear them a lot or at all tho
Also, I personally think they're the only masks that somehow "show" your skykid's emotion/expression and that's what makes them stand out, I guess.
