I think some are against it as it's too similar to owl hairs(?), I don't see a problem in it as it's a good opportunity for people who don't have owl hair and need it but can't because it was an ult reward. If we look into it, 2.0 is kinda different and have its own unique style.

Because this feels wildly unfair. Whilst everyone pays for two ultimates gifts - we receive one (technically two but you know what I mean). Plus it looks almost identical, why would TGC do that? There are a few small changes but it doesn’t change the fact they look almost the same. Im an old player and it feels really unfair. Also why instead of bringing old ultimates gifts they don’t come up with something new and equally good? They literally stopped making good ults

Is it really unfair? How is it so? Both are ult rewards and not obtainable once season ends. If you look into past season; you can see many reasonable things that are unfair but aren't really and helps the game running for f2p players. Example of Umbrella in Lightseeker, one is in Ult and other in normal ts, both are unique and different similarly Owl hair and 2.0 are different on top both are Ult rewards. It's my opinion though.

The difference between the masks and the hairstyles is that the masks are immediately distinguishable because the eyepatch is extremely conspicuous - and also, “black mask with yellow triangle” is not a terribly complicated design. Are they similar? Yeah, but I’m not gonna mistake one for the other. The hair is a different story. If I didn’t have them side by side, I might have trouble telling them apart based on the shape alone. Only really major difference is the color of the tie.

Gonna preface this next bit with a disclaimer: I’m against cosmetic exclusivity and think everyone should be able to obtain old ult rewards. That said, I’m against the new hair. It just seems like… a really inefficient solution to a problem that’s much more easily solved by just releasing old ults with a somewhat steep unlock requirement and a rlc cost so vets still feel like their $10 back in the day was worth it. With this method of kinda-sorta-bringing-ults-back-but-Offbrand, they end up disappointing people on both sides. Also, we miss out on what otherwise could’ve been a new and unique ult, which we might’ve liked even better than the owl hair!! Wasted opportunity tbh.

There are still 2 other new and unique ults though, in regard to your second statement. Since seasons typically have only 2 ultimates, we can consider this refurbished owl hair as a cherry on top of the season. Disclaimer, I am an owl hair owner and I am thrilled with this new version, both because I like it better and also because new players can be owls now too.

But honestly, for some reason, people keep seeming to ignore the other 2 unique and new ultimates.

Penguin hair will become sought after when this season leaves too. I'm worried that there will be no solution to the ult desire unless tgc allows us to buy the AP after season passed and get the ults that way. Tgc said they plan to release still to three dif platforms (PC, XBOX, PS4) all of which will have missed out on all these things. I hope they talk about the similarities between these ults and maybe update us on what's going on soon. I love both hairs, but don't think this will be a long term solution.

Light Awaits and beta were not the same thing. They were still two different apps, just like now with CotL. Light Awaits was available in a few select countries as early as November 2017, while beta became available early 2018. They ran in parallel, but with beta getting more updates just like now. Eventually LA stopped being supported and all players were asked to move to CotL.

I think there should be some kind of unlock requirement - I mean, you did have to complete the season to get the ults, so it’s fair that us newer players should have to put in a little elbow grease - but yeah, finishing every spirit from the season with current TS rates would be ludicrous. Maybe an option to purchase the AP post-season and unlock a spirit tree, maybe some double-digit eden candle prices or just steep candle prices for a couple spells and then an ult, and then another couple spells and another ult, and so on? That way it’s something you work towards but also pay a little rlc for, to put a little money in TGC’s pocket and also to keep things fair to people who played the season? Idk.

Opinion : Looking at how the ultimates looks like right now, I think they're merely using the owl hair shape as a base.
Like, the final hair would have a ponytail and similar bangs, but it feels like they still need to tweak the hair so that they become their own thing rather than just "owl hair 2.0"

I said it earlier, but I don't believe it is a bug nor a placeholder. In the past, TGC would use old items as placeholders. Like the Lightseekers mask as a placeholder for Assembly Mask. This new hair is a completely new model that has had work done.

Also, I don't think TGC would be foolish enough to introduce this kind of discussion if they planned on only using this hair as a placeholder. I am sure they would rather prefer to use a hair that doesn't have as much attention on it.

I wanted to say this. I've been dreaming of having an owl hair but I know for a fact that ultimate gifts are not coming back. But then I saw the spoilers and I'm a bit excited that a similar hair will be released in the next season. But as expected, many veterans are not happy about it. So my message to veterans is, please let new players enjoy and experience such cosmetics. It isn't designed exactly like the legendary owl hair, and that one from Rythm will remain always legendary. But let new players have this kind of thing in Sky. TGC is doing this so that new players can also enjoy.

the more i think of it the more i welcome the idea of "ult gift 2.0". once again i wanna reiterate that i am a gratitude veteran, and i have every ult gift so far (save for abyss diving mask)
i don't want the old ults to come back like a copy/paste, but new "versions" of them i am all for. i said this earlier already, but it's a GREAT compromise. the originals get to keep their rarity and "status" (lol), but people will still get a chance to get ults that look similar to ones they missed and may really really want. and heck they may even look better (IMO, owl hair 2.0 is cuter than the original x'dd)

Here, I'll start. I think that this new ult is a great opportunity for players, both new or veteran (because there are veterans who never got owl hair still), to finally get owl hair. And sure for people who already have owl hair, it's not a new cosmetic and I understand that they feel a little bit "attacked" to have an ult, which they already got, just a little different. And that's why suggested so many ideas of how to alter the owl hair to still keep some similarity to owl hair, but give it some unique traits like longer ponytail, an extra set of "horns" at the front and another at the side, just curved and pointed forward or to the side for example.

So people who already have owl hair get a better, altered version of the hair and people who don't finally be able to obtain this hair.

My goal isn't to spread hate amongst the community, I am just looking for a compromise for owl veterans and "new" players who don't have the hair.

And suddenly say "Come on, new players, hit me with hate" and it made me feel like my compromise was completely ignored

The new Owl Hair is an Ultimate Gift as well, we'll have to work as hard for it as they did back then in rhythm (probably even harder cause cause the newer Seasons are way more expensive) and they do not look exactly the same. Veterans still keep their beloved original owl hair and can continue flexing with it while new players get to have the chance of having a similar one
