This is in my point of view. I think it’s a matter of ‘teaching’ players to stop/turn back/help when some people deep call, is the solution to this. You know, out of topic, but I often get ‘shushed’ by shadow kids when I deep called for doors/server merging/help in doors.

It’s not the carry or glitch that is troublesome, it’s the sympathy/curiosity/awareness of others that seem to be thin in the mindset.

in other games, you get plenty of options, plenty of goals to accomplish
in Sky, aside from seasons, you have no other goal but to purchase more items or cosmetics
in other games, it's not a big deal if you skip the cosmetics because what's making you play the game is still there, it's the dev team's approach of making the gameplay cater to multiple playstyles

Not to discount what you've said here, but some multiplayer games like racing, fighting or party games don't necessarily have any obvious goals designed into them -- they're simply played for the sake of the experience, without any real objective to work towards other than things you've set for yourself (e.g. get faster, improve your strategies etc). I don't believe all games necessarily need solid goals to have an appeal, but I do agree that Sky's design as a whole right now seems to place very heavy emphasis on needing candles for a lot of things, which distracts from the idea of just exploring around or coming up with your own sort of gameplay. (This also touches on the reason the removal of spasm annoys me quite a lot -- I very much enjoy this game as a 3D movement/sandbox environment more than anything else)

The sole aim of that piece of game should solely focus on story or fun gameplay or some beautiful exploration or some co-op puzzle solving. At the end of it as a gift for the effort we could get some cosmetic (even just one mask). But make it worth it!

Sky on its initial playthrough has a goal, it's to reach Eden, be it alone or with friends, but after that there's just nothing to do but to collect the cosmetics, and the game's mechanics make players think that they have to collect all of those for Sky to be entertaining in some way or other when it's not the game's main purpose, and in my opinion TGC is not doing a good job with convincing players to focus on other aspects of the game, especially the exploration.
why do the events have to be cosmetic oriented? why don't they add gameplay that drives us to explore, and then reward us with something? would it be too difficult to make us find the dragon's pieces and reassemble it, and as a reward it gives us wax every two hours?

The other thing to know about Kizuna AI is that the brand is not going on hiatus. It’s going on hiatus from youtube streaming to focus on selling NFTs. You might know already that there is quite a lot of controversy surrounding NFTs. It could very well be that TGC was debating internally whether they wanted to have anything to do with all that. So, we lose a cosmetic we never actually had in Live and, in the process, avoid showing support for the speculation market of NFTs. I dunno: on one hand, pricey virtual hairstyle and bow on the other implied complicity in a pyramid scheme.

I’ve read some discussion here and I feel that it’s really hard to add new things to the game quickly in this current state. When it’s collapsing a lot, adding more will just clutter the code and make for more bugs.
It’s also kind of unfair to call them “money hungry” when they need money to literally run the game, maybe even get better servers to run the game on so it doesn’t crash all the time.
It’s literally a toxic cycle that no one can do anything about.
You can say that the game has nothing to do but it’s more so the community that’s laser focused on the cosmetics and candle running. There’s playing music , writing messages for boars and lanterns , interacting with spirits.
Tgc isn’t aiming to make a game with a lot to do. It’s a place to just be and vibe.

And I honestly feel relieved that the ai pack is gone. It shows that TGC stuck to their guns and refused to promote nfts even if they can’t say it.

They’re slowly adding new things, like spirit interactions. Progress is just slow. You say there’s nothing to do, and it’s staring to feel like those dress up games , but if they pause to develop@new things there’d be lots of bugs, lots of testing involved. And nothings going to change really, during that testing period.

And you need to think about why exactly you’re buying cosmetics? Are you going to wear them every day? Or is it just following a trend?

Abyss is (ironically) a breath of fresh air because it added a completely new mechanic that you can experiment with. Although there are no underwater areas outside of the Abyss area, it opens the door for so many new exploration opportunities. Imagine them adding a completely new area underneath Sanctuary for you to explore.

2. the pier was supposed to give light that added to your candle meter. But since it didn't add to candle meter (aka bugged) not many bother to go there.

I had atleast 3 friends genuinely get surprised to know there's light orbs falling at the end of pier! They never even went there to see the dance and fireworks.

I do think the theme is not suitable for kids, but i know some parents playing sky with their kids. The kids only play dress up while the parents do the hard grind and eden.

How I saw the 5th quest, I kinda thought it was a nice story that tied all of the quests together. If I'd tell the story:
Cannoneer was the 'child' of the ship crew and would always come up with the most crystals. Then our skykid joins in the crew and started gaining an edge to the cannoneer. Cannoneer started getting a little jealous and competitive, now that our skykid is getting the limelight, much like how a younger child is no longer getting as much 'attention' when they get a new sibling. (This is purely my own opinion, disclaimer). And the cannoneer's recklessness drove them to search for crystals in the depths of the abyss, but got stuck||drowned|| there. So our skykid rescues them and all lived happily ever after. I find it quite kid-friendly and very heartwarming actually.

I find it interesting and confusing about this thread of thought in general that “dark themes” aren’t appropriate for children. Stories are how we (as human culture/society) make meaning of difficult things in our lives. I was already asking my mom about death when I was four (if not earlier than that). I was imagining monsters under my bed without any video games to frighten me. I saw people cause pain to each other in both small and systemic ways. I learned about natural catastrophes and human-caused catastrophes and wars before I was halfway through grade school.

tgc is not a small company. not like they used to be. the problem in the kizuna ai situation is a few things:

1. tgc hasnt sent a single email to me, and assumingly anyone else about anything regarding the item
2. tgc never even showed what the "wuhu" call would actually sound like until it wasnt being sold anymore
3. tgc never stated weither this 100+ dollar keychain was a permanent item or just some kind of a spell, which some people try to defend tgc over saying "well, all the pins have been spells so you can assume that this will be too" which is actually wrong, because this keychain isnt a spell, its a thing you have to tap over and over again to use, which is absolutely AWFUL. i expect something of this price point to be a permanent item linked to my account. i would expect the wuhu call to be permanently available to me, in other words.

Are you upset it didn't come out sooner? I mean it takes time to design stuff, make models, make the animations for it, and even test it out. This is a much smaller team of devs, so this takes a lot more time. The devs have said they plan things months, and even a year or so in advance. It's clear they put a lot of thought into their creations. So calling them slow at making packs isn't really fair.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading that Netease is a much larger company compared to TGC. Either way, I don't agree with a lot of things TGC does but calling them slow is... They release seasons every 2 months, events every other month, handle two different apps, and work on things at the side

If you know what gamedev is like, a lot and I mean a LOT of things get scrapped that never see the light of day. It's part of the process and we only see the end of that in beta

from what I heard from CN community, Kizuna Ai over there is different from global, you can tell by the difference from both hair cosmetic. therefore CN collab doesn't have any impact over global version

I apologize for my absence suddenly. Let me try to break this down for you as easy as possible. The game they made is art. Art takes a lot of time. I'm an artist myself and I take a lot of time on my work. But game design is a lot of rigorous parts to work with. Not only did they make this pack, but they had to plan the schedule for it. And it so happened that Bloom fit, but unfortunately it coincided with them unable to put it in.

Now you keep saying, well they had events before. But they didn't. The Chinese server had events. These two servers are very different, all the way down to how it's coded. So even if they reused the same cosmetics from the Kizuna event in the Chinese server, they still need to work the code into the global version correctly too.
