a toggle for a solo run option may seem nice... they're also gonna have to switch multiplayer doors to puzzles that you are able to complete solo, but having other people join just makes the process faster
hopefully, that actually fosters interaction instead of forcing it, which is what Sky should be doing imo

The issue with having a solo mode is that it directly contradicts tgc's vision for the game. Sky is a friendship based game, can't exactly make friendships om your own. As much as I would like an offline mode of some sort, I highly doubt they would go in this direction.

I personally loved radar honk and felt like a server was actually a community and was easier to figure out if someone NEEDED help or was honking frantically at a friend that appeared. Easier to see if others were already going over to help. Easier to figure out if a server was full to coordinate with larger friend groups. Easier for people to stop for a moment and help when someone needed it instead of silently flying by and ignoring. Which isn’t very altruistic at all. It nerfed the greater sense of community in Sky. Should it have been optional? Yes. Should it have been nerfed entirely? No. Some of us relied on it for our gameplay style and still miss it even though it’s been over a year.

Hence if there were a toggle it could work. Toggle off to do a solo run alone in a server real quick without obligation to socialize. Toggle on to have help with multi player doors, relax at home or in shared spaces etc. having the option wouldn’t completely take away the ability for people to make friends. But would give many people the option to socialize or not at any given time for any given reason.

If the goal was to reward players for giving a gift, I think it would work better if it was programmed like one of the survey pop-ups or an inbox message, with trail spells as an attachment. Having it be a visible incentive as a quest seems more like a coercive measure, and doesn’t seem like a reward for altruism compared to a surprised unannounced present for gifting someone something

radar honk had some flaws that made some players feel it was too easy to be "stalked" or otherwise unsafe. I think the compromise of being able to loud-shout to broadcast your location is a good one. I don't like the idea of mixing altruism and event-tree unlocking though because it muddies the intent. I personally don't like the idea of expecting a reward for giving a gift, or not being able to complete an event tree because you don't want to spend on someone else

I already gave feedback last week that gifting iap (monetary item) as a game quest is not ethical in my opinion. At that time I was hoping it was a placeholder. As per beta news today it seems to be intentional. I hope it will be removed before it goes to Live.

Yes we can see friends. But we used to see strangers unlit as well. We could all see all beacons on the map when we honked. It’s how a lot of us got around in the levels when we were new or could find people in need of help in distant corners etc.

Radar honk won’t come back. The compromise for it was that people can honk and long call to briefly reveal their location/call for help. I still think without radar honk it is harder to interpret these calls than before. But 🤷‍♀️ they removed radar honk because it allowed some players to harass others by following them against their will.

DoL items seems to be server related issue connection with Sky IDs because for some it's present at both of their Android and iOS beta (same beta account, same beta ID). Item can't be gifted to the bugged ID, nothing available for purchase, yet in the closet it's not obtained.

Sorry to interrupting, I uhm wanted to express something … I started playing mid to end of season of Sanctuary and got the chance to become beta tester for Prophecy when I was still a moff. While I like beta testing and give feedback, I wish to experience a season in Live with excitement and new eyes, free of spoilers. And yet I still have some sort of fear of missing out if I don’t play it first on Beta. Which is dumb because beta is not about the cosmetics or emotes… idk. Does anyone have a similar feeling?

In the scenario you presented, if the player had no money, wasn’t gifted an IAP, and couldn’t afford to buy another player an IAP, they wouldn’t get the IAP (unable to buy, didn’t receive as gift) and wouldn’t get the trail spell (unable to gift IAP, didn’t receive one to unlock the node).

So poor players who also have less friends with money to spend on them wouldn’t get both items. They might feel doubly left out.

the bug sometimes gives you IAPs; some of these IAPs come with a bubdle of candles

Yes, I personally would be happy if a friend received any gift, regardless of whether I received one myself. I actually don’t care for either scenario – either someone receiving a tangible reward for being generous (reminds me a little of people expecting 200-300 heart trades for gifting someone an AP, which has been taking place on other servers) OR for the proposed plan of a player receiving an extra gift for having already been gifted. Neither seem in the spirit of Sky, IMO.

I’m still very much not a fan of the new new constellation. This last update didn’t really fix any of the problems of old new update and actually made some stuff worse. I’m hoping this is in beta for the long haul before live cause it needs WAY more refinement in my opinion. I’m not even sure how to give feedback. The only problems I had with the constellation in live was being able to see more friends. This kinda “fixed” that, in a very wonky way, but made everything else worse.

Also (disclaimer: haven’t finished downloading the update, but patch notes don’t say anything about this), if someone is online, I really can’t tell by looking at their star whether I’ve lit them or not. The whole business is so menu dive-y, too. I haven’t bothered to move anyone from where they ended up except once to test that I could do it. I have zero desire to do file management in Sky.

The live version of the constellation is still miles better than in beta right now but like people have mentioned it’s still in its early stages and a lot of updates will hold place for it to be superior to the live version

I’ve tried this but it still only works for me like 50% of the time. I would get to the top of the krill area and then get stuck bc I couldn’t shoot downward anymore. I’d have quit without that deep call trick.

True. Also grabbing a friend helps too. Your friend's deep calls charge your oxygen meter.

If you're stuck, stop your avatar and look down again without moving then deep call. That should help you go back down.

I have a problem at the bottom of the ocean where my camera zooms out a lot and I can't see my avatar properly to control it. Luckily you only lose one wing if you're out of air and not 5 like with krill attacks.

yeah.... ark and abyss are really pretty areas but in the case of abyss I'll probably only go there twice (in live). once for the spirits, and the other time when all the quests are out and just do them all in one go. I don't enjoy the trek to either area

I think Sky I really struggling by not being open world. it feels tedious to go anywhere regularly, especially with the more additions each realm is getting. eventually it'll be one big mess, even with windpaths. I hope something significantly changes in the future but I cant really think of any good way to fix it without making it open world

Like the new candle system that lets you get more candles in less time. Then they add a ton of time-consuming quests to the dailies and have them spread out so instead of 10 minutes to do dailies it’s a half hour.

Simple solution is to make it either gated by spirits or just make you do the trek once and then have a shortcut added right after.

The treehouse quests all made us go to the treehouses first and then the shortcuts opened up. So it’s not unheard of.

I hate to bring it up again, but Genshin Impact has a huge open world map and you get around via teleporters that you have to walk to to unlock the first time. It doesn’t make the world feel any smaller. You just waste less time traveling to where you need to go.

I've played other MMOs with similar quick travel options, and my general opinion is that there's a balance to how many shortcuts or instant warp points you can put before it starts encroaching on the world's sense of scale (especially if the quick travel system is easily accessed from a menu or a central world like Home). For me, I could understand something like a pipe shortcut that connects the first area of Wasteland to Crab Fields for a quicker jump -- but something which would allow us to get from Home to Abyss within 60 seconds strikes me as breaking down the illusion of the world too much, and we'd be treating the travel more as a system than gameplay at that point.

The problem with Treehouse styled gates stems from Wasteland being a massive toxic pool that doesn't make underwater shortcuts a viable option (I'm aware it's not what you meant). I feel it's important to introduce a new player the mechanics of the Krill, as well as reminding experienced players what awaits them in the area they're travelling to. Perhaps there could be a boat next to the one taking you to Ark, and that could take you to the Abyss area once you enter it.

I have no idea how to handle this though, it's difficult to come up with shortcuts in Wasteland because of how restrictive that realm is when it comes to introducing shortcuts.

i didn't mention anything about how heavy or light the monetization is, it is still monetized and is presented in a way that looks like it's obligatory for someone to complete it - the fact that rainbows are hidden can raise false expectations and result in disappointment (which is what you're trying to address), but my point isn't mainly about the monetization, it's about how I feel like it's important to add more variety to sky's regular "go there, get that, go there, get that" gameplay that starts to get old quickly
not to mention how predatory it is to shove a quest that's solely about iaps, especially in a time where events' emotional value have diminished due to the frequency of them and how they're just about cosmetics instead of you know, potentially having people cooperate to at least make them feel like they actually have an impact on the world and are rewarded with social light areas or visitors at home that drop waxes

Personally I disagree and agree with this.. I don’t want sky to become a grinding game like Genshin is now. At the same time, I’m glad they’re adding more alternative wax earning activities, but it is quite frustrating that a lot of these are social wax events. If you’re like me and don’t really have much to talk about all the time, the social wax areas are a pain. When I log on, I want to play and engage in the game actively.. so what I’m personally looking for is active wax collection, that utilizes player to player interaction —- I.e mini games with other players. I don’t need to grind it out, but I can play with friends if I want to - something of that sort.

I disagree, we got we what we needed, which is a relief to the cr system - they did this by introducing the forging system. Now you don’t have to do 3 realms to get 10 candles, you just need to hit areas with treasure candles and you’ll reach that amount much easier.
Players have been complaining about event items being too expensive and Idk maybe it’s just me but I do feel like they started making the prices better, for instance:
The scarf and hat from the winter event was 50 candles and 15/20 hearts — which is much cheaper than say something like the rainbow cape

And similarly the Valentine’s Day crown.. it’s 20 candles and not 20 hearts.. idk, I do think the price of items has gone down.
What I feel we want is more things to do in sky. Seasons feel like a drag because often times they are. Outside of days when the next quest unlocks, there’s little to look forward to between seasons. But I feel this was improved in the new season. The first quest definitely took me a couple of hours of exploring to figure out without getting any hints from anyone or any online site.

This was something I was listing out in the feedback for a while — to make exploration in the game worthwhile. And I feel like the season made it feel worthwhile..

This is much more a community issue than one tgc can truly help or eliminate

People who already have all seasons or most TSs are very chill no matter what event comes. However, what makes it hard for the others is your Days of mixed with random TS

Basically because you never know when the TS you want is coming, and if you'll have enough, and that's even more Grindy than events (every 2 weeks). Look at what happened during days of summer. 2 very wanted spirits, crab call and Juggler, can during the time to get LP sword outfit.

And people were so stressed about the idea of Juggler not coming back or not knowing when it was going to be, than some decided to go for juggler instead of the sword outfit, an object that can't really return.

But dunno, that's how I feel

Personally i absolutely adore the juggler pants, even if i had the candles for both i will still opt for the pants and not the sword suit, to me that is more of a collection purpose, even if it doesn't return.

Tgc is just going to be adding more events on top of previous events, this is so demanding for moths who will be joining us, with all the grinding for ts that comes every fortnight, events that happens literally every other month and the seasons. Not to mention they will still have to worry about finishing the constellations

I'm unsure if sky can survive at this rate, with the veterans maybe leaving due to repetitiveness and the moths quitting as the game is, in a way, too demanding

To be fair it was the second time crab call visited so it was only stressful to people that missed the season and when crab call visited. Juggler i can understand because it was their first visit. But also they are both TS they will visit again (like crab call has). They will keep visiting in the future.

I think its nice to be surprised every time they reveal TS. To just have a calendar of future knowing just feels too planned. When the gane is nice, freedom, mysterious. I like to keep it that way and that's just my opinion if you dont get what im saying its okay.

I do feel things in it’s current state are a bit too difficult, too dark, air is too limited, swimming is janky so avoiding krill is difficult, so combined it can be an anxiety inducing experience ontop of the general deep depths of the underwater scare factor, but I do hope with the coming fixes that the main fear factor is the vibes of the place rather than fighting the game for control during swimming

Well I will say this and it’s another thing I put in the suggestions thread. It gets really really difficult to access other icons when holding hands it drives me nuts

Doing Eye of Eden holding hands with a friend is impossible. Trying to give light to the statues quickly just isn’t a thing. Like when burning plants and holding hands everytime you want to tap the burn icon it just opens your friend tree

I gotta rotate my camera like a crazy person to get the icon to show up. Same when friends are all piggy back trying to see the top friends icon to hop up there I have to run 20 feet away to see it.

I just remembered, you can still bypass the constellation gate and stormlock door to Eden by chibi falling through the roof.

The change to the boat's placement has been made more logical if I'm being honest - the player still has to encounter a Krill at least once and be taught its mechanics

its a boat transition, so it sorta fits there

and one of the reasons why people don't usually go to ark is because of the loading times, distance and the boat loading transport

I’d think putting them on the same pier would be interesting, with flags to differentiate! While I do enjoy the closeness of it in it’s current state, it does feel a little off to me? Like it’s too close/convenient?? sorry I can’t elaborate better

Yeah, despite being convenient, it makes no sense for the Abyss boat to leave from the Wasteland social area. Wasteland is a grounded realm, with bodies of water, not floating islands in the clouds.

Sure, agreed. Whales, like krills, can move on both land and water. Same with boats. But Abyss’s destination feels like it’s a part of the same area we are sucked down to, unlike say flying to Sanctuary, Bird’s Nest, or Flight.
