Flying doesnt work bevause when I start, the intro interrupts it.But I was in Valley of Triumph doing the first race, to see if I could go to golden wasteland and when it was changing to the stadium’s place, it restarted my phone. when Impass any place that you have to pass a portal, it restarts my phone. Idk what is happening, beta updates never have done that before. I will have to check in ios beta that my cousin is testing rn. Thanks for your help

So far, I'm liking it.
Well, I'm a sucker for cosmetics so I barely look into other aspects, and can say that the cosmetics aren't the best, but different, and the "good ones" (the ones I like) are pass free. That makes me like the season more :) Unlike season of flight, which has really poor pass free cosmetics... At least it is somewhat pretty and enjoyable 🥲

the lighting in valley sliding race is just one of the wierdest now (like, super yellow, its g o l d e n), and also the tunnel from valley hub to village have wierdly high-saturation lighting/environmental colors as well(magenta for the most part)
there are some part of the cloud that renders very wierdly as well(one i saw in issues there are dark patches in prairie villages, another being one particular cloud in home being some broken mosaic)
just to see if those are experienced by anyone else here and whether if this should count as a(or two) bug report

It doesn't really (or shouldn't) matter if anyone's relived them before you on the same server. With dailies, for instance, the spirit will just go back to their starting point if someone's relived it before you, and you're free then to relive it yourself

There is a node in the tree for the fortune spirit that is locked until you gift someone an iap. They want access to the days of fortune stuff behind that node and are wanting to gift an iap to get there. It's trail color spells though. Not super cool.

it should work if you play around with it some. the water in home is diveable for instance. in some places you can only dive by flying downwards into the water first, rather than just swimming. lighting is minimal in most places so orientation is hard. diving deeper than some random limit is also impossible a lot of the time. not possible to go below the home island for instance - unless you chibi fall from the start

tbh im just a little shocked at the stark contrast between the land and the sea
the land is super barren and lifeless. the spirits themselves have capes, coats, pants, long beards... that stuff is warm!!

but then you see the ocean and it's fish, eels, mantas, turtles, those animals are typically associated with warm water environments. then there's the krill, the underwater city and its like "whoa what is happening here" like there is LIFE down there and while that probably is the intention, the execution seems kinda jarring bc of the mix of themes
im not sure if the spirits this time around are based on any particular aesthetic or culture but it kinda feels like they threw in all their ocean stuff in a bag haha

or in simpler words: its kinda hard to tell what the season is based off of and i feel like it's leading to different interpretations that are super different and confusing for people

yesss, i'm glad to finally have another utility ult like the lightseekers umbrella and belonging bonfire after all these years, and the way it's available in the shop as a spell for late and f2p players is a major plus if that makes it to live

waay too powerful for an item if it basically removes the main obstacle in diving, which is the oxygen meter
you shouldn't compare it with the umbrella, that item does prevent light damage from rain, but rain itself is easily negated by taking shelter in any shade whereas in the sea, there's not a lot of places to recharge making the preserving your air and planning your routes all the more essential
they geared up the players to deal with all those factors and just lumping in an item that throws all those to the bin is just pointless in my opinion

Swimming is compared to flying in the game
you don't just infinitely fly forever in Sky, even rechrage props, you still have to take a break to fill in your wings, holding hands with friends can only give you much light that you can't boost indefinitely too

Skykids can't even infinitely fly, why should Diving be infinite

Oh that's a good idea. One that the spirit sells would be not as buffed as the Ult gift like the umbrella. So maybe the Ult gift allows you to be underwater forever, while one that the spirit sells could be an extra minute or something. So it's still worth getting it.

Have you tried #beta-looking-for-group? Everyone's got different goals and time constraints in beta (especially considering that everyone should also have the live season to deal with), so I wouldn't be surprised if players aren't keen on redoing the multiplayer assembly quests, especially without a predetermined group when waiting for random joins is so luck-based

Yeaaaaah, the 8 player door doesn't make a whole lot of sense in beta once you have the spirit: there're usually 8 seasonal candle nodes in every realm besides Isle, so the amount of candles you'd normally earn from seasonal conversion will keep you from needing to do any serious candle runs for quite a long time if you don't feel like it. This season's off to an unusual start in that respect, but older beta players would have very little desire to go to the puzzle because of how slow and unreliable it is for wax

There are no seasonal candle nodes anywhere right now, I don't think they've programmed them into the build yet. Given that they won't release the final quest until late January, I think we'll probably be testing the season for quite a while -- they probably don't feel very rushed about fixing the seasonal nodes in light of that (and more importantly, they probably want us focusing on the quests and diving mechanics)

To add on to that. 8 player elevator is only used for Oreo, the WL (with how many we have, 1 is quite useless) and the emote. The time required to server merge with 8 players in beta would be better used at a social light location.

Invisicape is in beta. It requires completing vault constellation, going to orbit, and buying it from the vault elder for 999 hearts after buying the elder hair for AC. There is a video pinned in #beta-screenshots-videos if you want to see it in action.

How so? Is the quest not starting even though you have 4 players sitting down, or are you unable to pick up the quest objectives? Chibi players can end up swimming in certain puddles of water, and that can get in the way of them picking up the one lantern that's in the middle of a large puddle

About diving (again), idk why tgc implemented new controls to diving. What if diving has the same controls as flying, but ofc the animation is different.

And if you want to swim faster, it will drain a good bit of your wings instead of the oxygen meter we have at the moment

Will say, there is no flashing in the krill stage now, which I appreciate. A friend of mine has seizures triggered by flashing lights, so when that was added more than a year ago she had to stop doing Eden at all. I hope this is intentional and not a glitch.

It's not really a quest that you're required to complete. I believe the only node after the quest is a trail spell or something. However I do agree that I don't really like the way that it's presented. Being a quest from the event guide makes it seem like they're strongly encouraging you to do it to get something else at the end, but really you're not missing anything if you skip it

It doesn't seem to be as much of an issue for touch controls because it's harder to make your character move while the constellation open. I'm only able to do it if I try at a very specific moment while the spirit is coming down, but even then it's not affecting the constellation as badly for me. Although one time it did glitch pretty bad and spun the whole screen in circles several times, but that only happened once and now I haven't been able to replicate it again

After trying some more, it seems like as long as my character is on the constellation stone at least a little bit, the menu shows up fine, but as soon as I get completely off the stone is when it shows up weird (or does the spinning thing)

regarding the lack of colour on the cosmetics, i feel it’s a variety to the previous season of flight. I don’t quite mind that they aren’t very colourful, because they gave us a different vibe. I particularly liked the angler’s hat and braid, and the overall realistic earthy tones gives a pretty Jumanji vibe that I feel suits any skykid who would like to be seen as an explorer, vs beings of fantasy. Of course there are several ways to approach a ‘sea’ theme, but in the case of this season, in line with the wasteland, I rather like the ‘plunderer’ or ‘sea pirate’ kind of vibes. colourful and ocean themed seasons definitely could possibly be introduced in future seasons and located in the ‘cleaner’ areas, like sanctuary. My main concern is that the entrance to the seasonal area is kind of off the grid, whereas the Season of Flight and TLP were much easier for a moth to get to. (omg sorry it turned out so long)

I don't think it's a good a idea to make an ultimate mask more effective under water. So far, ultimate rewards have been cosmetic only. Restricting ones ability to enjoy this game fully because they're a free player is against what TGC stands for.
The only suitable option would be more bubbles and fish underwater to help all players, not just the paying ones.

Even that I probably I won't buy ap for this season because of dull/pale color cosmetics, I applaud that items have extra function regardless ultimate gifts or not. That adds variety for props and makes the game more interesting. That extra function (even if insignificant 5seconds) encourages more ap sales helping keeping Sky an ad free game too.

Would having the rebreather mask as an AP-locked cosmetic relieve your concern? AP-locked would imply that AP holders get the mask first, but other players will also eventually be able to get it when the spirit returns as a TS. Personally, I'm just not fond of the extra oxygen feature being tied to a mask specifically, because I want to keep more of my identifying look without needing to sacrifice that advantage.

bonfire and umbrella both have uses while they do have alternatives it took AGES before the bonfire had any alternative (days of feast 2020 contained the first prop that could recharge you i believe &it was literally 150 candles) when it comes down to it a 5 second boost to breath makes practically no difference and swimming for long enough to drown is only ethical within the seasonal area which you wouldve already completed most of the quests for before getting your hands on the mask in the first place. it's not a huge concern

the rebreather mask is basically just for looks, the use is more of a bonus than anything for people who might want to explore further or go oob pretty much after the seasonal quests end since iirc the timing for final quest release lines up with when people get to the last ult gifts usually. it's not locking anything practical out for many players, the quests are perfectly doable with or without the ug just as forest is fine to explore with or without an umbrella.

You can still CR perfectly without the bonfire or umbrella. I didn't have either one of those untill Assembly and summer umbrella and I still enjoyed the game fully and never lost a wing in the rain.

Yeah, it definitely makes a big difference if you’ve explored prior and know the ins and outs and have no issues with the controls, but personally I dived right into the quests and it was quite hard. Not to mention more often than not my sky kid goes upwards when im trying to go down and having to worry about air / losing actual wl instead of just the wedges and then maybe wl just makes the experience that much worse imo

i wonder what the controls are like while using a controller, ill have to try if its any easier

this is true but im more worried about the divide it creates between moths and veterans. a veteran with 11 flaps wouldn't have to worry at all but for a moth who might only have 3-5 wedges it becomes a struggle especially if tgc wants to make balances to provide an adequate challenge for both groups

thats why they invent new features - the trials and the swimming mechanics, they even the playing field and make the player rely solely on their actual skill rather than how long they've been playing the game, and makes it a lot easier to create fair challenges for everyone involved in the experience. not to mention it makes it WAY easier to lead people around if you know exactly what their limit is and when to stop and take breaks instead of leading them underwater while they're literally drowning or something which is one of my biggest concerns with the whole debate on air balancing

Too little air to explore and the worst of all, the fact that in some places there is solid wall, no open water, so no quick resurfacing - therefore, losing A LOT of wl.
The controls are atrocious when it comes to up/down movement. The quests cannot be completed because all of this...

this is true but this season seems to have themes of.. i wouldnt call it horror but definitely something close, it's meant to pose a threat to your skykid and it's meant to scare you a little, i feel. i think some change could be made to ease the stress while keeping it balanced and importantly scary, but balancing a game is extremely delicate work. removing the air mechanic from the season would remove all challenge of underwater exploration, and in fact become even easier than flying in the air because you can maneuver anywhere you want in the water without spending anything to get there as long as you have enough air for it. providing an air mask for all players could be beneficial but then that raises the question of why they don't just ignore the mask entirely and give us more time underwater from the get-go.

i think the drowning mechanic while not "unique" in the sense of the word is definitely an interesting thing to introduce to the game. it's a fresh outlook on seasonal gameplay especially for something that's advertised as all sunshine and rainbows it's refreshing to see that tgc is reintroducing that hard punch that seasons like prophecy had in terms of difficulty, and i think that's the best way to view it, honestly. the quests aren't supposed to be easy. they shouldn't be simple two minute fetch quests, they should be more like trials, and they should make you feel good when you manage to get past them - or that's how i feel about it, anyway

The first thing a moth learns is how to control the game, therefore controls are an integrated, fundamental experience for Sky - flying is what makes Sky, well Sky.
So the new water movement mechanics are a huge new feature for this game.

It is one thing to be challenging, and another to be impossible. The trials for example are doable. These underwater quests on the other hand, are not. This is why we are testing them now. Provided that so many people land of the conclusion of borderline impossible, in this stage of testing, I think that it's pretty clear that all of us have judged correctly.

So, either the depth/the quests themselves need readjustment or the diving mechanics do. Either way, there is something amiss that need slight improvement.

I have nothing to hide, we are just discussing the hardships we encountered during the testing phase. Actually, I was thinking to write an official feedback message, but I didn't for this exact reason: not to appear too negative or rude.
In the past few days I have seen so many people struggle and agree with me on the hardships of this new mechanic. There will always be people who see the full half and the empty half. Statistically, in order for something to be relevant, it needs feedback from both the pro and the against crowds.
Some managed to complete the quests just fine, others couldn't.

I choose to see that this feature is amazing, with the new season being really cool, but I'm not going to ignore in the testing phase some elements that could be improved before it will eventually reach live. That is the whole point of testing.

I have a friend who didn't get the candle bug so she couldn't unlock the ultimate mask and she wasn't able to do any of the quests.

So yes, some may find diving a little too difficult. I personally needed a couple of hours roaming around until I somewhat learnt the new mechanics but I still think they need improvement.

• It's not rude to give negative feedback! It's beta, things are in a rough state in part so that we can finish them based on the feedback we get. What's rude is insulting people and putting others down. It's fine to say what you dislike and the reasons why.

Does anyone else find the first season of abyss quest impossible to figure out? I recruited a bunch of friends & when we started testing we didn’t understand the quest or how to complete it & tried everything we could think of. As a long time sky player either we are all stupid testers or its not very comprehensive (could be a frustrating issue for new players or people who struggle socially & have anxiety asking for help- after all it’s supposed to be a free choice kind of relaxing game & not everyone has millions of friends available to help)

Around the barrier there is a small opening where you can go through. Its kind of in the back of the barrier ?it’s definitely there so you just have to look around it a bit : )

that’s a known bug, at the moment the only way to get candles is the daily quests, and home shrine (or if you have any encounter with the bug that gives you thousands of seasonal candles )

im personally not much of a fan of the constellation, the missing completion % is strange, telling which friends youve sent daily light to is harder now and overall i miss having a separate button for friends/constellations instead of having to click on one button and then having to select whichever one i want to use atm

• the only thing i really want to be changed is how easily you can click off the constellation when sending light, just one click in an empty space and boom gotta do it all over

it's a sweet way to encourage players to send gifts to their friends but solo players exist and might feel left out not knowing what the node above it is. imo, a trail spell isn't worth spending money on a gift iap (especially since most iaps in this game are $10+), but at the same time it'd be really unfair to lock a cosmetic or anything someone can't get through other means behind it so it's a tricky situation. i think it could have to be scrapped if they don't show the node above

and I'm gonna be honest here, I think event quests is an incredible idea (flashbacks to my Days of Nature cleaning Sanctuary oceans from plastic suggestion) but I geniunely do not like that it's supposed to be something related to IAPs. It feels like they're gonna be spending money on someone else only to be rewarded with rainbow trail spells, and that sounds pretty disappointing and infuriating if I'm being honest.

Event quests are the right way to go to spice up regular gameplay, but for the love of god do not monetize them.

I really really do not like that the IAP quest is not a placeholder. :/ it seems ageist/classist. Not everyone can get them. I am a person who can afford them but I’m always thinking of the ones that can’t. That basically nerfs the event for many players. VERY disappointing

right - the fact that it's for a limited time only (for the duration of the event) also incentivises the player to hurry to buy a cosmetic for someone regardless of it's really wanted or not. incorporating a small bonus - i'm talking a couple candles, or a heart or something - for players who send gifts to friends at any time of year would create a similar incentive but in a way that feels more like it's rewarding the player for doing something they already wanted to do for a friend rather than forcing them into a position where they feel like they have to. i could be wrong about this though

For me, I just keep swimming while whistling a tune... I ignore the krill and focus instead on where I want to go. Which I admit can be a bit difficult the first few times ^^;

One thing that I found helped as well, I just spent a lot of time watching them from a distance. Kinda tried to get myself to view them as just something that's there, and not the big bad, if that makes sense. I hope this helps ^^;

It's just the monetization of those that feels wrong and forced. I am more than happy to support TGC monetarily, but IAPs belong in the shop - not quests

Considering that usually in an event spirit tree there is an item at the top of the tree - it WOULD appear that this quest would be mandatory to unlock whatever “item” might be at the top of the spirit tree. It would make more sense if this quest was at the top and was therefore optional. It also begs the question of what happens/changes when the quest is unlocked. Is there a cutscene or other “reward” or are we just pumping money into TGC in a way that comes off as obligatory? Many players don’t follow Sky socials or discord and may be under the impression that they MUST do this in order to “finish” the event. The placement of this quest feels predatory to me.

obligatory means you don't really have to abut you feel like you have to

I think this could be fixed by making the mask itself have a cost. Something like 200 candles for a previous season ult would be HIGHLY motivating for a vet like me who is only missing that particular ultimate gift. But again I think it needs to show in the spirit tree if that were the case. edit even if it were not a previous ult but a NEW cosmetic for the event this would feel better than some trail spells.

-remove the final node entirely; make the iap node have the icon of what you unlock instead of a "!" and make it give you the item when completed

tbh a reward shouldn’t be added for the act of kindness as that is our own and more meaningful if the friend who receives doesn’t feel like they’re being gifted something for a quest completion/an extra reward (though that’s my opinion). if it would become something like an outfit prop or a past ultimate players that can’t gift would be left out even more so.

if there’s an extra reward for gifting an IAP it’s best to show it in the IAP shoppe than a tree, or just not at all.

I also suggested that if they keep this quest it should go both ways - that the person gifting AND the person receiving the gift unlock the quest. This at least levels the playing field a bit. Putting a pricey cosmetic or a previous Ult unlockable after that would make this much more motivating. Offering the completion of the quest to both givers and receivers would be more fair. Adding transparency to the node would be more community minded. TGC, please listen.
