There are so many things at play with the IAPs that we don't know and can't know yet. I think we should all be patient and keep giving respectful feedback. the devs are working hard and TGC seems to be listening to us (seriously, check the pins), so there's no need for rudeness or making sweeping statements about greed and whatnot. we can still be critical and give feedback, let's just do that from a place of respect and understanding

An achievement system that rewards you in candles and hearts would be nice imo
And by that I don't mean daily quests, I mean actual achievements that once completed can't be completed a second time like "hide from a krill 100 times" or "lit 1000 candles"
Rewards in hearts and candles would be an incentive to make you play more trying to finish said achievements and a final rewards if you complete everything would be extra nice

There is more like an experience than a story. Sky it's too ambiguous and short.
Most players spend so much precious time grinding to get cosmetics from the next traveling spirit. Player pay for cosmetics from new season to get them early and not having to grind for them when they come as TSs. I can't agree, I still think cosmetics are what this game is about after experiencing eden. Cosmetics and friendship. and maybe some who candle run for it's repetitiveness, that calm that brings is broken when you have to hurry to keep up with the game

Since the sword suit is popular it's the best thing to keep it as IAP, TGC Needs money and Game is a MONEY MAKER , so u think rhythm hair is feeling like an ult meanwhile people don't like it back then, and now it's just one of desire things.

@outer yew Yeah, people definitely warmed up to that hair after they met the questgiver I think. The popularity of Rhythm QG made the hair more well liked in the season, and also people now like to pair it with the maskless face to look 'cool'. But boy, there were some really angry fires at first when it was introduced as an ultimate!

I totally agree with this. I only have one friend with whom I've upgraded the complete friendship tree who is my irl friend. I have been playing Sky for more than a year now and I have a lot of friends but there are only a few with whom I have unlocked more than high five. I get the motivation to grind candles for those cute cosmetics that travelling spirits or the events bring. So at times, it's annoying when people say "they are just cosmetics, that's not what the game is about". Yes, there is a lot to the game other than just the cosmetics but I don't think there is anyone who spends a lot of time on even the very beautiful spots in sky on a daily basis especially after playing the game for a while.

Well, you're right. TGC as a corporation is never going to be a personal friend. No company is! No one should be holding up any company or content creator as their friend. Companies have bills to pay, shareholders to please, deadlines to meet, and as a result they won't always do things you agree with. You shouldn't rely on any company or content creator for emotional fulfillment, because they will of course eventually do something you disagree with and disappoint you.

Leave any friendship or emotional fulfillment to people you know personally, and can always have a healthy conversation with when something goes wrong.

Everyone needs to calm down. TGC has been off from vacation for a day. Many of the team members have to cut their weekends short. They aren't magic, the change isn't going to happen overnight. They're all quite stressed. They adressed the problem... look at pins. They're listening to our feedback and I'm sure they'll change accordingly.

And also moving the ults isn't the click of a button. They have to code that in. They can't change it instantly.

Just a few thoughts about the IAP controversy.
First, check pins, this update is not the final one regarding iaps, so things may still change. Devs are listening, but don't have time to implement all changes so soon.
Second, one thing to keep in mind is that both the scarf and the sword pants are items that kinda break the informal rules of the game. TGC has always been very clear that they don't want weapons in the game, and a sword suit bends that rule, even if it isn't usable as a sword. Same goes for scarf cape, which really functions more like an invisible cape than a real one, which, again, is an item that the devs have sat on for a while because of the way it messes with the game functions. So it makes sense that these items would be more limited in release, and iap is an easy way to do that. I'm still hoping for some changes, but just hoping to share my thoughts.

Imo I don't think it's the developer's skill that causes the bugs. The developers are very talented and work hard. You try to code a game like this. You couldn't dream of it.

However, they're constantly pushing out content. There's a new season every few months, also events, new items, constant new stuff all the time. They're always rushing new content, and it would be hard for anyone to be "perfect" when that ticking time is always there.

I think, and I've put this in feedback, that they need to take a break from constantly pushing out content, and work on what's already there. For many people, including myself, the bugs have piled up to the point where the game is hard to play. And I know they're trying, but they need to take some time to focus on that, and not new events.

I apologize for misunderstanding. It can be hard to get full context over text, especially in a scenario like the one we are in now! And all too often people do rely on content creators as their friends for emotional fulfillment, unfortunately.

I think it's important to note that the people you may see bonding with the players are likely not the ones behind any monetary decisions. That is probably decided by a completely separate group such as: heads of the company, a team dedicated to marketing/economy, shareholders, parent companies, etcetc. (Marketing in general costs companies a lot. Often even more money is spent on marketing than development, fun fact!)

So my point is, I think TGC can still have members who do keep a closer relationship with players than other game companies, such as from its designers, community managers, artists, etc, (all who are not the people pricing things) while TGC can still have decisions such as this IAP we disagree with. I don't think the two concepts are mutually exclusive.

One last thing to note-We don't know the circumstances behind this collaboration and what part is TGCs influence and what is the LP ip holders influence. We might not ever, due to contracts and NDA. It may be that TGC members have already fought to lower the initial price behind the scenes, before it even hit beta.

I've been thinking this for a while but I think that the break between seasons should be longer.
Not only because like that the devs can "breathe" more but also because the community too can "breath" more.
More often than not I find myself grind to an unhealthy level only to be able to get everything during a season, and the break between seasons was a way for me to relax more and focus on completing my constellations, however it's such a short period of time and it's so filled with events where I have to spend my candles and heart into that I can't take a break anymore... Sometimes I wish that Sky didn't have so many events to actually let everyone take a break from it without missing anything and/or be able to enjoy the basic game without events or seasons

However I do find the ultimate reward for the season a little disappointing, the hair already looks similar to another elder hair. But I understand that the cosmetics were a reference to the little prince book and that the devs are doing everything they can to make the game more enjoyable!

I understand that this upset has certainly tainted peoples opinions on the beta testing season, but I think accusing the TGC artists of doing that is just potentially harmful speculating that can get out of hand. TGC has not done anything like that before, and many people are a fan of the dark capes. It could have been a design decision to make the adult capes monotone to contrast with our coloful skykid capes

the seasonal quests need you to be quite integrated to the sky world, hermit valley only opens after you complete dreams quests I guess the whole season needs you to be quite established with the constellation gate requiring a vault spirit also

I just wanted to caution against assuming anything when the other party isn't able to explain their thought process. I think other engines cost money to use them commercially, so it's possible that they didn't have the cash to do so during Sky's development? Since it took 7 years to make, that's a lot of time to be paying employees and not be making money. Those engines also might not have had the flight mechanics that they wanted for Sky.

Agreed with that. M not defending bugs. While I know no software can be 100% bug-free, I also know sky is way too buggy. Maybe they wanted to create as original a game as possible so went with new engines etc. I can't speak for them. In terms of engineering talent TGC is probably one of the top indie game companies... their timeline is kinda rushed with all the events tho and they don’t have as much manpower as the big bois while delivering an experience that is just as impressive. Idk their actual development team size tho

Also, game companies make proprietary engines to both save on cost and to get what commercial engines don’t offer... I do think it’s really impressive that they developed their own especially since I believe their engine was made back in the Journey days? And they would’ve been a truly small team back then. Their engine might be one of the reasons for all the small details that u probably don’t even notice but make up the Sky experience

Unity is free for personal use and does not cost much for a license...Genshin is on unity I believe and handles flight very well..also has much more detailed graphics and mechanics...Guess we'll not know why this decision was made until TGC answer it themselves.
@lyric wadi that may be a reason for them to go with their own engine but in terms of bugs, it seems like a failure so far. Maybe this will work as feedback for their next games and they will use the engines that are already tried and tested and dont cost a fortune.

Extending the event time doesnt justify the overpricing if u think about it. It just means u can still do moderate grindings but more days of grinding will be needed. In an extreme example, imagine they sell TS for 500 candles but the TS will be here for a month. Do you think it justifies the overpricing?

Yes, Days of Feast was expensive too. But did many suffer that month with another 2 TS. YES. So its another solid reason why we shudn't have that kind of pricing again. Not convincing when they say they're promoting healthy grinding yet introducing overpriced items that people have to grind hard for the whole month.

@tacit stone We have a significantly different candle farming system now that requires much less time unless you force yourself to do full 20 candle runs and our excess season candles will also be converting the day the rainbow event starts too.

Being part of the LGBQT myself I understand that this seems expensive and excluding people, but I'm almost 100% sure that cape was originally intended to be an IAP but the community wanted something free so they changed it before releasing it.

No disrespect to yourself or anyone else but it's comes off as greedy to want things and not be willing to work for them. As for the TS situation it's not ideal but choices are a fact of life. Irl we call it bugeting in sky we call it pick and choose

They can't use a personal license as they are a commercial company. We may not know how much it actually costs to license for companies-apparently it was enough that at the time they decided building their engine was more feasible. Companies like Mihoyo who make Genshin also run many other popular games, so they could probably afford it. I hope that makes sense! Still cool to think about Sky in Unity though!

I think the IAP is only here for this season because its a collab, never has TGC done any IAP during a season before. I am thinking that if next season is not a collab season, we probably won't have IAP, just like the past seasons.

Tbh, on some days i can feel really exhausted by how the game is behaving these days. Not only its hard to enjoy the base game with all the stuttering and bugs from new features, we also have to constantly fight for a reasonable pricing and decisions (for example no wax during afk, LP pants were all IAPs) It feels like they r constantly pushing us to see how much we can accept and it is not a good experience to me compared to a year ago. I think to an extent Days of events is to keep the game fresh for those who have completed all of the TS/base constellations. So for those grinding to get both its just double the cost.

TGC has done a lot for the moths as of late with the new guide system/bringing all seasonal spirits back permanently. but outside of new seasons what else is there to get people excited and keep them hooked.

In general moths aren't really too worried about these fancy items the Fomo usually kicks in well after the 'moth' phase.

I saw some here saying that people who are complaining about cosmetics being IAP are just being ungrateful. I have to say we are not being disrespectful or ungrateful to TGC, at least I am not. I love the game and have been playing it for a while now. The game helped me a lot through my hard times and I'd always be grateful to TGC for that. Sky Cotl is undoubtedly one of the best games I have ever played with beautiful graphics and music. I respect and love TGC and its staffs for working very hard to provide us players with the best experience.
That being said, I live in a country where the money I spend on a single AP is almost equal to a week's meal. I am still a student who has no stable source of income and I can't ask my parents for a lot of money to spend on a game especially during these hard times. I still somehow managed to make some money to buy APs for the last few seasons. That's as far as I can afford. I have never bought any event items and I never have complained about them being costly. I understand TGC needs money and that they are in business so they need profits too.
I love cosmetics and even though I hardly wear most of the items in my closet in sky, I like hoarding them. I have completed all the constellations and now my only motivation for candle running is to buy cosmetics that travelling spirits and events bring. That is also why I try and make enough money for an AP somehow before every season. I was very much looking forward to TGC sharing with us the area and cosmetics of The Season Of Little Prince. I felt very sad when I saw that some of the best items are IAP. Believe it or not, but the money for AP+all the IAPs in my country is almost equal to a month's meal.
I believe most of them who are sharing their disappointment about the items being costly is going through such a situation. I understand neither the prices nor the items are fixed but we are just sharing our frustration here.

Both are open-world for the fun of exploration, but I dont think Genshin plans to fix the janky flying system they have, compared to Sky since it's not their main focus

In my opinion, Sky's mechanics of flying does seem to be the most realistic than other games mentioned.

I dont think its really accurate to assume events are made for anyone who have completed their constellation. With all the unchanged realms and tedious candle running daily, events are here to keep it fresh for EVERYONE. And as events are getting more frequent, one event every 1-2 months with TS coming every 2 weeks, its only a stress to players than keeping them fresh if u give players frequent events but also make the items so expensive. That again, is another reason why they shud not charge an event cape for nearly 200 candles.

I honestly wanted to keep my two cents to myself but I can’t anymore—
I’ve been playing this game since the very beginning of Belonging, and it’s been beautiful watching this game grow to be where it’s at. I still remember when Rhythm dropped; The hype of getting so many pants in one season was insane! I still remember the silly fights over Sanctuary items once they dropped (funnily enough, they ended up being items people are looking up for the most nowadays )

But for the past few seasons, I started to notice how... money-heavy this game has gotten. Before Prophecy/Dream, I never spent a single dollar on an IAP. The items never truly interested me, but I was fine with the spells! Prices were reasonable too (back when items would come with candles. Like the rhythm piano starter packet.) but... I noticed how much IAP’s also started to drop, to the point it got overwhelming at times! The Halloween event is still a sour subject to me. The Christmas event was ok, but still felt icky with the deer antler price and cape (that I barely see anyone wear nowadays? So sad, the cape is genuinely so pretty)

I don’t want to talk bad about the company, but I cannot deny that they are starting to get a bit out of control with IAP’s. And it genuinely is ruining my game play experience, too. A lot would say that we are over exaggerating, but god, you lots act as if we all have the pleasure of spending money that many need for food. Or rent, legit anything.

Saying that we are ungrateful is rather rude, and offensive, to those who genuinely are trying to support this company but they legit cant.

I cannot afford the IAPs at all, and I can only afford Adventure pass. I know not everyone can afford such luxuries, but I feel like it's a bit too much that people are asking for more from TGC after they have already done something about it even though they had a deal with LLP on the collab. Other seasons didnt require extra IAP items because this season is a collab. The price of the sword pants and 14.99USD for the scarf cape don't seem surprising at all, even the snowflake cape was in the same price range and not much people complained about it. Although I feel like the fox could be lowered down a bit. Weren't the complaints because we didnt have the costume of the little prince to look like him in the AP? And this is beta, everything is still subject to change.

i think the reason why the little princes items are iap is possibly because they will stay in the game forever attached to the new area? it would mean that people could buy the items at any time during the year without having to wait for a ts to return. if they are locked to the seasonal pass as an ultimate reward that could mean that they might possibly never return again. there are many people that have a great connection to the story of the little prince and that connection should be immortalised by having his items available for everyone through the iap year around.

It’s so aggravating seeing how people just straight up say we are being ungrateful for giving some criticism/feedback on the subject.
Like I stated on my message, I sadly do not have the luxury to pay over $60 on a game. That money is something I’m saving up currently for College. And many others in this chat are also people who cannot spend over $60— not even that— Over $10 on a game!
It’s insane how some of you are so quick to say things like that.
Many players are still struggling through a pandemic, y’all.
In fact— I wouldn’t even mind the prices if they did what they used to do back in 2019: IAP packs that included candles.
What happened to that? Why did they take that out? It’s what made buying IAP’s more rewarding and kinda reasonable as to why the prices were high. The way I thought about it, the price were split between the amount of candles and item.
Like rhythm pack! I believe it was the piano and about 20-30 candles. Or the beta cape from office!
If the current IAP’s came with candles, I wouldn’t be complaining, seeing as that’s how the original system was....

I think it'd only be fair to compare these IAP items' prices to past ones if this were an event like any other, but this is a season, and many players will be trapped into having to decide if they get an Adventure Pass or one or two IAP items

the star lamp prop's price has been changed from 0 to 24 seasonals in the shrewd merchant tree and the last ap exclusive blessing in the same tree is now free like normal, no other apparent price changes (that I could see)

But they just added the pants, also I read previous comments where people are asking most of the iaps to be inside ap which is a bit weird for a collab. Also yes the iaps are expensive and I can't afford any of it, but asking for reduce price of iap or asking to add most of the iaps behind ap is different thing. Kinda a random thought, but I find it so weird that for a game designed around world exploration and building human connections, the player base is very concerned about cosmetics—myself included. Like, I don’t know why I’m even upset that I need to pay money for in-game vanity items that I know I don’t need. When I can’t afford to buy a skin in, say, Brawl Stars, I just shrug it off. Granted, skins can reappear in the shop and the devs don’t sell skins directly for real money, but I feel like Sky’s core gameplay of collecting candles is what makes us so obsessed over cosmetics. Literally the hours players spend in the game every day is primarily for cosmetics. Sure, there are spells, emotes, etc., but cosmetics are what you can show off the most of.

It just feels weird... I bought the tea set because I thought it was cute and I didn’t have enough hearts to buy the regular table, but I wanted to be able to talk to and help moths. Yet, when I was wearing it along with my charity cape, a Sky veteran literally did the “apology emote” to show respect... another even befriended me just because I had those items. I don’t know... Overall, I really don’t think that cosmetics should make anyone this upset... but we are. Since vanity often seen as a contra-virtue, it feels like a contradiction to the game’s philosophy. At least, its initial philosophy.

TGC has made s great emphasis on self expression and so not only we are grateful for cosmetics but also for the emotes to be able to communicate (you see the joy it brought to have all the past seasonal spirits back just for their level 1 emote and no cosmetics)
I think that being a social game where you make friends and discover together, self expression is indeed important and being able to look a certain way that you identify with (in a way) is very fulfilling

I think it's an exaggeration to call the game a "world exploration" game considering once you've played through all of it once, there's not much more to discover. There's no rules saying this was absolute and always true ... that seasons have AP's and events have IAPs.

Sky is ever evolving.. and also, there's no actual paywall if you think about it. Everyone will have access the the entire area, AP or no AP. We can all enjoy playing with the little prince, learning new emotes, and giving the little prince a tour of all the realms.

The stuff you get for money are just costumes and collectibles. Not buying them will not hinder your chance of accessing the new area or anything.

That’s true, expressing oneself through outfits is fulfilling. But considering the many pants, capes, etc., that are already available for in-game currency (mostly through TS), should we really be so upset that we can’t get a specific pair of pants? I’ve only been grinding for a few months, so I don’t even have most of the seasonal pants. Yet, I mix and match, make compromises to visually present myself. Don’t get me wrong, it is annoying to see something we want be out of reach, but sometimes we just have to make do.

It’s absolutely the core of the game. You repeat everything ad nauseam so you can afford cosmetics. Even the wing buffs that give you extra flight are used to lock off cosmetics, so you’re not just going through Eden for extra wing power but for access to more cosmetics.

-green pants and scarf should be UG
-sword pants should be 10$
-fox should be 5$
-green cape if IAP should be 10$, or 15$ if sold alongside the sword-pants (as an incentive to buy both there's a 5$ discount on the total)

In general I never understood why Sky's general prices are 10$-30$, imo they all should be lowered to 2$-5$-10$ depending on the stuff that they're selling, and 15$-20$ for packs (without additional candles)

What did ever happen to IAP’s included with candles? That was something I always saw IAP’s accompanied by back in 2019 (Piano pack/Fur cape from Gratitude)

I'd say it's not as simple as "not being able to buy some pants". In fact the availability of a number of cosmetics has nothing to do with one's self expression in the sense of, for you it might work, and for others it might not. You might've felt such fulfillment while others have not yet. I don't want things to be completely free as that'd not make sense considering how this season is a collab and a few other factors, but we can try and discuss a better way to deal with this situation. Also as appunwrapper mentioned earlier, it's not just this one season, it's the raising amount of IAP items that definitely make a difference when wanting to express oneself

Yeah, the price rising for the upcoming season’s IAPs is very vivid. It certainly leaves a rather bitter taste in my mouth, so much that I don’t really want to spend on the AP. It just feels wrong to if they are to be priced as shown in Beta. And I obviously can’t speak for anyone else when I say that I’m able to make do with what I have. I’m just so happen to be this way. Please keep in mind that the main difference between this season and past season is that this is the first season based off of a collaboration to a book/movie in which many have an emotional attachment too.
For the subject of collab to be behind very pricey IAP may not affect you or I personally, but that doesn't apply to everyone or anyone else. I personally have no interest in the Little Prince so I won't be getting IAP nor the AP. But I wouldn't call the upcoming free cosmetics to be "worth it" either.

I often buy paid packages, but this beta update is disappointing. The Little Prince has two coordinates. TGC didn't completely give one of them. We have to pay for the scarf to enjoy the updated pants. Because these pants are meaningless without a scarf. Even though next season is the Little Prince's season. It's so sad.

As someone who hasn't read it. I really love the quests so far. The gameplay is wonderful. It feels like you're playing with another real person. The programming for the Prince is great work. ❤️ He feels like a real player. I love that the places the Spirits can be found in say so much about them before you even talk to them, the visual storytelling is amazing. The Rose's story is so very sad. It's heartbreaking. Hi, there! I'm not a beta player but I have watched a bit of the season things on YouTube regarding emotes and cosmetics. I don't want to see the quests or gameplay because I'd rather not spoil the new area for myself (I'd like to experience it firsthand in the live version with my friends) so I can't give any feedback on that.
Regarding emotes and cosmetics: emotes are cool (especially the falling on the floor one and the sneeze lvl 3/4) and the cosmetics are.. OK I guess? The Valley elder looking clothes are nice and the fluffy black cape looks awesome. Maybe I'm not much of a fan because I don't know anything about Little Prince nor do I feel like I need to know about it (sorry to the fans out there). While I still think the rewards are more favorable than that of Assembly, I'm not really impressed. But the game isn't supposed to be tailored to me anyway. :stickerUmm:
@BariBJam#1627 Assembly is my first season and I thought the seasonal rewards were terrible, after considering what was in previous seasons. Especially being how the only useful thing was the torch and hammock. The only thing I liked about it was the emotes, the tree house, and the quests (the quests to some degree as waiting for people sometimes was Spain without the s.) So I didn't like Assembly much, and I might find myself taking a break during Little Prince unfortunately :SkyWhew:

Mm, that cape also releases when we get our conversion from Assembly. I’m sitting on 240 Candles already and I only run until chevrons are gone each day. I buy out the TS’ completely too. It’s entirely possible to get that cape without a serious ton of effort. People act like an hour on the game each day is a mass amount of effort. I agree that the cape should have been cheaper, but it’s not impossible for people to get without paying for candle packs.

396/6=66 days
So you can only skip 4 days in an eaverage 70 day season and must get the full 6 on all other days.

Total season count 378 excluding hearts( no ap)
378/5=75.6 days
Impossible in an average 70 day season!
(although you might not want to unlock the top free node of the scholar as its a blessing so that saves you a few days but it's still 71.2 days equivalent!)

Overall, this season has to be longer than 70days to be possible without burnout OR the spirit costs must reduce respectfully

I said at the end that I agree the cape should have been cheaper. Unfortunately the only thing the Devs did with our feedback was lower the items on the tree and drop the overall price to get them by 30 candles. It’s still 245 if you count the 60 for the 20 hearts. It’s ridiculous. My only point is that it’s possible to get them without buying packs, but nothing in this game should ever cost 175 on its own unless it has functionality like the Christmas Table and that was only 150.

No offence, im just replying regarding the price matter. Its not impossible for people to get it without buying candle packs, and if people grind really hard they can get the cape. But is it a good experience? Was Days of Feast month a good experience with 2 TS even if the chair was 25 candles cheaper than the cape? No. This is the main reason why many players complained abt the need to grind hard and TGC introduced chevrons. But with the high candle costs now, i doubt they introduced chevrons to help, but might be a way to balance out the increased prices they plan for future.

I understand and you are right. The issue is glaring especially with the Rainbow cape. They tell us they made the Chevron System to discourage heavy grinding and to help give players who can’t spend a ton of time on the game each day a good number of candles from running a couple realms. Then they drop the Rainbow Event where just the Tassel and Cape alone cost 175 + 20 Hearts (60 Candles). Yes, it was nice of them to place it conveniently at the end of Assembly, but honestly...how many people can even hope to get these items without that conversion as it is?

Yes. Double seasonal candle sounds a lot, but its actually just a day of daily quest's seasonal candles for AP players. Also the Double Treasure Candle event. Its only ard an extra 10 candles in a week. Dont rely merely on it.

I was pretty lucky because I knew about the potential pricing as I’m a Beta tester. I began saving after the TS before this last one. I bought out this last TS and had 130 or something, by Sunday I had 195 extra candles ready for the Rainbow Event and on top of that I’ll have another 210 by the time next TS comes, to buy it out, not counting my conversion after TS leaves which will add another 90 to my 195. I just...knew ahead of time.

I just put some feelings in live feedback and will probably do the same on Beta about the situation. I always feel so burnt out everyday running with my fiancee when we do play. (Granted, she does all the running, but I want some down time). It's becoming clear that the events are coming out wayyy too fast. When I got to the last area with the constant red rocks my character refused to run so I had to just slowly walk through it and I couldn’t get all of the statues because of that.
