If this will get abuse. They can make a cooldown for chat feature. When you help a moth they can choose to chat enable chat or disable chat(using table chat), When choose enable chat you can use it until you finish the help feature and will give 30 min or 1 hour cooldown. You can still help people but without chat enabled.

To be fair, the friendship tree and handhold is already a bit of a learning curve! When you start for the first time you add friends but don't really realize what it means. You'll have to do some learning as you play anyways! Anyone could have grabbed your hand and taken you somewhere strange as a moth and you might not know A) what they're doing B) how to unhold and stop. At least with this prompt you know that generally people that help you are going to help you find spirits!

I think if the shepherd system actually got abused, I have a simple workaround it. When using Shepherd system the shop trick and instrument trick will fail to prevent helper invisible from krill and when the krill hits the helper and need helper,the helper will deduct more wing light it should be. Five wing light drop by helper and 1 wing light drop for need helper

Here's how the button works

The person asking for guide will automatically hold hands with the person that has accepted the request to guide and the hand holding option will unlock in the tree till the other person cancles the request. Both person will be automatically lit on hand holding. Not sure about this but if two people accept to guide at the same time then the person asking for guide will hold noone's hands. The hand holding won't break after a transition zone

Okay just now i went to try this new button in prairie social area, I hold the hand of the player immediately but someone else snatched her away right after they must have tap her button too. Then I snatch her back and honk, to see which spirit she need, then a ‘?’ mark appear on the tombstone near us, and it shows a confetti emote icon it’s a travelling spirit

So, anyone can use this button, but it only is seen in areas where you don't have the spirits, by people who have the spirits. So for example, I was able to lead Meg to Kabuki because I have Kabuki, but she cannot lead me to him. But she could lead me to sanctuary ts because she has those and I don't.

If a player needs a guide in a realm that has spirits, a button above their head is gonna appear. If you press that and accept guiding them, they're gonna hold your hand and emotes are going to start showing up. At the moment it's new and bugged, seasonal emotes are also shown but it's only base game emotes that should show up.

recap of how the new guiding system works (i don't have a good name for it):

a player goes into their emotes and presses the button. if you are on the same map as them, you will be able to see this icon where they are located, no matter how far apart you are. if you go up to them and accept to help them, they will automatically attach to you. you will then see every emote they do not have on that map when you honk. as soon as they get one spirit, they let go, no friending necessary. it continues through map transitions and realm transitions if you do not collect any spirits in that current map and wish to move somewhere else.

Being the um, realistic and slightly pessimistic person that I am, this new button only spells trolling and griefing to me. Any feature that invites a more experienced player to “help/guide” a new player will and can be abused by those who find that amusing. The new button is basically just the original shepherd system in a different way.

yeah, that's also one of my concerns. i really really like this concept, it makes it so easy to help other players, new and old, since you can see seasonal spirits too. but its also very easy to abuse this system. i think there should be some type of countermeasure against abusing this system, but not to take it away. i would love to use this to help more players

And with some moderation and report reviews they can softban girefing players by disabling their ability to accept help requests for a certain period of time.

So I tried the button on both my normal and a moth account and my friend who helped someone before with this couldnt see any icon over any of the the chatacters. I couldn't sees icons either yet besides by own but if i held someone's hand who had icon active (which i couldnt see) they got the message that this player will help them finding spirits

much like a shepherd credit system, if you successfully help them u earn/maintain credit points and if u are reported and a bot analyze ur behaviour points will be deducted. If you go under certain points u have ur rights to accept help requests revoked for a duration. Much like a couple of other games who uses credit scoring system.

Not exactly a fan of the new system, first of all because of the potential abuse that everyone is talking about, and second of all because of the detriment of the player experience: I already guided a lot of moths around the world of Sky and I can tell you that holding hands is one of the worst things that you can do to them because not only you're taking away the possibility to explore, but also because you're taking away the chance to learn how to fly correctly. The "fly where they need to go" is a waaaay better method imo.
I already can hear some of you say "but it's a voluntary button, you don't have to press it", but as a former moth myself I can assure you that during your first time playing you would click every button just to see what it does, and when the new moths actually stumble on the new button and see that someone is basically doing everything for them they'll "get lazy" and become dependent on just people dragging them from point A to point B.

I disagree. thatcommunitymanager™ explained that a lot of new players uninstall the game without getting to Isle temple. The updates to Isle may see them go to Prairie, and after that the game basically lets go of your hand. It's a feature that some may need, in case they don't know what to do next

I think you are seeing the button as something it is not. It is only to help the new ones when they are lost and cannot find a spirit. In addition, in my case, I learned to fly by watching how others did it when they took me. So I don't think it drives those "lazy players" you say

As someone who started testing in Prophecy. never trust MOTD. We know a season will start via #beta-announcements. If they didn't drop an update message that's two messages long due to all the seasonal features for us to test, don't think we will have a season any time soon.
