Firstly, you need to enroll as a beta-tester. There are periodic invite waves especially when a new season is going to be tested (unfortunately, there are no invites right now, but there probably will be soon for the new vault season). You need to be quick as well lol, the invite waves fill up fast. After you're enrolled you can download the beta app.

I am following a few Switch review channels and most players are price sensitive and typically shop during promo events… Indie games priced over 10€ mark are painful for most. Imo i actually like the simplicity of the cape and the rainbow patterns on the back. I find the color really pretty. Sometimes simple is best for me ^^ I wouldn't mind them changing the shaping and outline of the cape though, it has the simple format of a non-seasonal cape.

To be fair, that flower is just a recolored version of an item they already made a long time ago. It didn’t cost much to edit it so they can afford to donate all that money to charity. It’s not like the Ocean cape that was completely designed, built, skinned/colored, and rigged, but that’s just my opinion.

actually yeah good point here too- I think it's telling that the initial apple article on the release of sky talked about "no flashy dances or loud colors" or something along those lines as a unique aspect of sky. It's interesting to see how it's gradually becoming more grounded in the real world. Again, Christmas Cape was 60 candles and Bloom Cape was 70. 175 candles for this cape is ridiculous. They are all exclusive event items. Why is one so much more than the others? It doesn’t even have a special trail or anything. And to further put it into perspective, the Christmas Table was 150 and served a purpose of socializing with other players.

250 candles would be 12 days, about 2 weeks
we need to remember the game audiences consists of majority teenagers and children who have school up to adults who have working life
teens and children dont usually spend money on the game , unless its permitted by parents.
a full cr can go up to 3 hours a day, usually busy students cannot provide such time
Furthermore, people have other candle usages too such as friendship nodes, hearts, constellations, no one is gonna fully stop spending on everything else for one event , that just negates sky experience in my opinion.
There's a fine difference between end game items which i completely understand why its costly versus time limited items which may or may not return ever

I agree, there should be interest over the cape, and there is a lot of it. I don't think TGC will lower it enough that it won't be challenging or won't de-motivate players. Ie, TGC never lowers the value of TS as they're always costly much like the events. (Imo, a lot of gaming companies place the cost of their items too high than too low hehe) Unfortunately most players believe it is too expensive of a cost right now, which is quite similar to what you said, but instead of being too low they believe it is too high. So in return it feels unmotivated to candle run than it already is. 200 candles actually takes somewhere almost 2 weeks of full candle runs, which is around 2-3 hours. Depending on your availability and interest to cr, your candles with vary drastically.
Imo it's a different reason for everyone but it seems to be connected either to their playtime or what they think the value of the cape based on the design. TS might get in the way of the candles. I'd prefer it would be in the 135-150 candle range as opposed to 110. Slightly higher than a TS (because this comes around once a year) but out of range for nearly 200 candles. Simple things doesn't always mean it's cheap, and considering how it represents LGBTQ+, the cape is still very much valuable.

tho i do think it's possible to get the cape now if you start saving up. spending 10-20 minutes on cr right now might be possible.

hey deli! imo the little prince isn't really about advertising because I think it's actually one of the inspirations of Sky. Its themes of childhood vs adulthood and death fit very well into sky, and there are many parallels-- also, one of the MOTDs (messages that you see when you first start up Sky) is actually from the Little Prince (the one that goes "the most important things are not seen, but felt with the heart") so it seems like this book has always been very important to TGC too. I know you might not have read the book, but trust me, it's a very very fitting collab for Sky!

I'm also inclined to think it's not an ad becuase there isn't really a profitable fandom for a ~70-year-old classic novella? I think TGC just loves that book <3
