two ways to get the pass: pre order (30 candles) or not pre-order (20 candles)
if you got pass during floor is lava, the game thought the season had started so it was not a preorder. possible to have gotten 1 daily candle from this glitch too.
day 1 candles if you were active when the update dropped and got them before reset - 5
day 2 dandles - 11
day 3 candles - 11
day 4 candles - 5 (missing realm candles)
SO absolute max candles obtained by proper means is 62 today. Nobody could have finished the entire season but they might have finished a single tree

@tawdry tree There is no embargo on posting about beta content on social media. Nastymold is a fairly longstanding member of this community and to the best of my knowledge she has never hacked the game. As to taking up two slots, I don’t have any specific comment on that as I don’t know how or why she did that. (Perhaps one on iOS and one on Android, which is at least useful for feedback.)

@minor robin Yeah; as long as we still get enough currency to be able to do our job (testing the system), this isn't really more than a minor inconvenience. I'd be asking for candles if this issue persisted long enough that we wouldn't be able to get enough candles to test the whole season, but I don't think the bug will last that long.

I did fire trial solo before the update. I'd run and light like 4-5 candles then lay down and the angry worm on a string just passed by like nothing. then repeat (just make sure you're laying down near a candle)

Some candles are further apart. Personally, it felt like light depleted faster and the candles were a little herder to light and had a smaller initial light radius. After "death" they didn't keep you lit as easily so you had to pause at them to recharge if going through an already lit path.

- the route of the Shadow Fluffies kinda mimics the candle route, they're just travelling in the opposite direction. So I look up to see what direction they're coming at and i get a sense of where the next candle is and what the walls ahead are like

What I did was MAX my brightness and pray I didn't burn out cos then you get flashbanged
Maxing brightness helps a LOT, you start faintly seeing red (or now white ig?) candles, and that's tip for the day

I think those wasteland candles are purely for aesthetic decoration. Wax dots have to fully be absorbed by your skykid for them to count, if you change maps while they're still zooming in mid air they won't count.

In the water trial I think they may have gone a bit too far in making the water more forgiving when it's receding. You can actually swim for a moment now (before the water sinks low enough to put you back on the ground) as long as the water is receding, though it's as dangerous as ever when going back up.

I noticed something about the fire trial. I did it now for the first time. What I have seen in some but reports is the death loop. I experienced this a few times and realized that was because it didn’t spawn me back on the lantern. So you were already losing light by the time the transition back to the game visuals started working and you were dead before the white screen was gone completely. However I noticed that in the one second or two when I could kind of see, I was also able to move towards a candle or the lantern and it would respawn in that same spot again. So that might be the issue with the loop.

I quite liked the fire trial, each trial has its own different variety, there's bound to be some people inevitably wont like but remember in live you'll only have to do it once if you don't like it. Only the people that enjoy them will do more and I quite like that idea. I like all four myself ^^

@silent lily because of a feature called on demand resources. the initial download is very small so you can open the game faster and then the rest of the levels load as needed. when you're downloading an update, you're downloading an entirely new set of code

I mean. In eden when you get krilled, you lost WL and stuff. In trials, you just have to start from the checkpoint again. So it's not that big of a deal for me.

well daily quests only give you one candle each. it's the realm candles that give you more ^^; good news is we can preview all the items in the closets this time so we can give feedback on how cosmetics look right now. and then feedback on how they function later

So i think i just found a bug where we can be immortal in water and fire trial(earth and air too but without teleporting barrier). To get this bug, when entering the trial room, the meditate circle have to be 0%(large white circle) and then you can sit and give it a try

@rich field Odd, I fell a few times in air onto a lower platform but just jumped into oblivion off the side pretty quick and it always put me back at my highest checkpoint. I might investigate it more then and see if I can get it to fail.

@rich field Are you Android by any chance? Perhaps the bug is related to that? Or maybe I just got lucky or you got unlucky.
If you’re looking for tips the longer flight jumps will force you into glide mode and launch you forward while also sliding when you land. It’s best to activate glide mode manually before it automatically does so mid way through the jump then try to dive on the platform while spamming backwards flick to stop from sliding off. I find that’s the best way to keep the most control.

Ok good news is the death loop bug I had previously had been fixed. Bad news is you return to the start of the trial instead of whatever checkpoint you were at with fire.
So make sure you can do the challenge in one go

@weary wigeon Hmm, I’m not chibi but smaller than average height and those smoke balls would still burn me out even if I was kneeling on a candle. Maybe different areas or perhaps it’s inconsistent then.

@late mountain ah, the reason why i don't play as much anymore is because the players who i invited to the game no longer really need help. nowadays they ask to uber me and it's just something that heats up my phone.
all my actual friends i met when i joined, they aren't active anymore. they don't play that much, or they quit because of boredom. i think most people farm like crazy for like, the first 3-6 months they know the game, then they burn out completely and stop playing. that's what happened with me anyways.
i definitely still play beta but mostly only when new stuff come out, i just don't really.. care about live. and by the time it DOES come to live, i'm already sick of it / already know what's going to happen as i've been a beta tester for a decently lengthy time too now, so it kinda dulls my interest.
it's always nice to come back once in a while tho. users are so kind and sweet and the community is always so helpful regardless of what it's about.

Discord is the best way to get invites yes, they probably joined via a link someone shared. Though like... even if they don’t give beta-bug-reports or beta-feedback, there’s lots of other game metrics that are running in the background. It’s also possible for people to report bugs ingame (though I think it’s easier to do in discord with file attaching and all)

How to safely get through the fire trial (credits to @mellow atlas for testing this with me): bring a friend with you and hold the friend’s hand throughout. In the first section with the smoke, you both sit down at a candle after every 3 candles you light and wait for the smoke to go away. In the second section with the smoke, do the same thing but for every 2 candles you light (remember that this section has three waves of smoke)

third stage was really hard for me, the beginning corridor was tough, Shadow Fluffy swoops so low I still die at full health and at a candle. Had to do it over and over again until my timing got lucky

i think i've done each trial 4-5 times now and i enjoy them more when i'm alone. being with friends is nice but it takes a lot from the immersion and the collision that prevents you from reaching a candle last second made me rage way too many times

Kydo, you can try the steps in #beta-faq but otherwise it's pretty much random. the steps don't always work and we don't know when Google opens up because its different for everyone

Kydo it just depends... Last season I got locked out of being able to download beta the whole duration of the season (but I realized this time I wasn't doing some of the steps in the pins completely so probs my fault). This time I was able to download it the day after I got the invite (I did the steps in the pins like 3 times though, and it let me in 1h after the last time I tried). Try the steps in #beta-faq regularly and hopefully at some point it will work.

Water trial: Just basically light up lamps jump on rock hills and blocks until you reach the meditating spot
Earth trial:Find a lamp on the maze and go do parkour on the blocks
Fire trial:Dodge gas balls and light up candles on the way to the meditating spot also lamps are checkpoints,Also gas balls drain light so be aware on their position

@chrome ledge I appreciate the time you took to explain stuff to other people but a thing to consider is that we are beta testers. Explaining too much and handholding other players may affect their genuine first time experiences and the quality of their feedback.
Struggling and being confused means that they're not the only one, one beta player may have a problem and that may mean hundreds of live people will also have the same, and they might not have access to q&h channels like we do. It's problems like these that should be genuinely sent into feedback so TGC can improve game design

Same thing with live you tap update now when new version is released, in beta case you need to find an old version of beta, Google will automatically detect its old and it will show update if you're a registered tester.
This is just a way to troubleshoot, you're still downloading the real app from Google

Same thing with live you tap update now when new version is released, in beta case you need to find an old version of beta, Google will automatically detect its old and it will show update if you're a registered tester.
This is just a way to troubleshoot, you're still downloading the real app from Google

I haven't redo fire yet, but the red candles do mix up with the candle bunches in trial that gives you wax tho, I am glad they switched it to white!! Thanks for telling us herozz!

I've found wax in Earth and Water so far. Not sure about the others, but it doesn't seem like it?

additionally, ensure that you have cleared the cache of your chrome browser, logged OUT any alternate accounts from chrome, play store, play games, youtube, and EVERY other google service on your device. reset the cache of all of these, and RESTART your device.
THEN login with the proper credentials to the play store, and then to accounts.google.com in your chrome. ...
if all of that fails, you’ll have to wait for a future fix

@serene glen you don't have to, it's encouraged to balance playing beta and live and to always put irl responsibilities first. doing Cr runs in beta does help because players might notice new bugs in the realms, as well as contribute to ingame metrics/stats.
