They announced they will be wiping out all beta access earlier this week to make space for more beta players and wipe out the less active players. That's what these invite waves were for. They are sadly over now...so u gotta wait till the next wave comes before next season

Is it a common problem in beta that when you light up a spirit for the first time it takes too long to give you control of the camera again? (after finishing all the reliving and the spirit going away) I've read all of known issues but it doesn't say anything about it

seasons last for way less time than it does in live. it usually lasts for about a month, or a month and a half for testing. because of the increased seasonal candles (you get 11 per day) the time doesnt really matter, but after seeing the season and getting a few cosmetics, people lose interest in beta

so here is a list of the techniques to try if you are having problems with beta download (that we know of so far). for each technique, do a simple close app refresh before each attempt, aside from technique one. try and combine them. Maybe something will work. Pls report back which worked for you by using the corresponding emote.

1. FAQ technique
2. looking up/ downloading from google play games
3. opening the second link on the invite page
4. turning off wifi and using data
5. clicking at the very beginning of a new wave
6. clicking on That Game Company, then clicking on other apps, and finally clicking beta
7. waiting 24hrs
8. waiting 3 months
9. I STILL DON’T HAVE IT

Just because someone shows up in the staff list does not entitle you or anyone else to ask invasive, personal questions. They're staff and that is really the end of it.

If you are on Android be prepared for the possibility of a download wait that could take days, weeks... Months even. Some people got in during the pre-sanctuary wave and weren't even able to download it at all. It's a google issue that can't be helped in some cases. Even if you tried the troubleshooting stuff in the faq. Unfortunately it's not guaranteed and TGC are only able to do so much

On the flip side: there is always live. You can still hunt for bugs there and provide feedback

@lyric wadi : If you go through the bug reports channels a ton of stuff was reported in beta that still made it to live FYI. It's kind of hurtful that you'd place blame on beta peers for not reporting.

There are many reasons why bugs reported in beta still make it to live: there are hundreds+ of bugs in both versions, the devs prioritize and even really game breaking ones can be a very hard fix that could take very long and not make it in time to be published and released in a live build.

But this is also true that beta peeps tend to get lazy and ignore a few things they found annoying and buggy in beta version after awhile (which is why access to beta is updated with active players). I can't think of one from the top of my head now but I remember people discussing something they said they didn't like in beta. It was around the time when sanct lastbquestbdate was changed. But nobody reported it and ofc it made to live. I know not all bugs can be fixed. As a software developer myself i know no software can be even 80% bugfree and while coding the fox for one bug often the scripts for others clash. But I also agree that many times the bugs are not reported in the first place.
My original point to people waiting desperately for beta was there are bugs in live as well if u are unable to download beta just do the same in live coz they claim the purpose theywbant beta is "to make their fav game bugfree". If it's bugs they wanna report they are in both games

But my point was, and community elders agreed to it themselves, many beta people tend to not play beta after a while, or if they do, they simply discuss the content here and not report them. I never said to dedicate lives for beta. All I said was the issues many times found in beta are also not reported. Maybe person A didn't get the same issue person B got. But A didn't report it. I know coz some of my previous sky friends did it too. They stopped bothering to report thinking somebody else will do it if it was indeed a bug and then it made to live.

Experience tells me that this hype will die within a week or maybe two, even with a new season to test. People realise it's not all that glamorous in beta. I also think it might be wise not to draw conclusions just from discussions here about what bugs people report and even when they report them. I tend to collect my findings and report them all in one go. (Sometimes I do forget, yes, because gasp, I am human!) Again, some things are more suited for feedback, such as overheating issues or comments on design choices.

@lyric wadi there's no doubt there is an issue with a severe player drop off. But think also of how many active players were still playing and reporting near the end. That's a lot of onus to put on a very small group who also have irl responsibilities. Burn out in Live is already a thing, especially for people who are in the TS grind. Add reporting and bug hunting on top of that and it is a lot of voluntary work

The best thing we can do in this next round isn't to point fingers or guilt people for past mistakes and "slacking". Let's just provide a welcoming channel and encourage people to keep playing and reporting

They may be in it for the hype for a couple of weeks, but during those weeks they were active, they were to a certain degree playing and contributing ... the past couple of days I have been watching this conversation thread and I feel it’s definitely edging towards toxicity. Older beta players start bashing on newer beta players assuming that most of them will just drop after a bit. Even if it is true and many will, honestly, it’s up to the devs to keep the test program active - by getting rid of inactive players. I just feel like there’s this holier than thou attitude going around here... if you have been testing for the whole duration of the testing period, that’s amazing.
The whole community appreciates you for what you’ve done, but there’s no need to bash on newer players for being less inactive

Can we all just focus on the topic at hand: beta and finding bugs. Personally, I will test what they ask me to test and find those things "not quite right" during my down time. Taking a break from live. Literally... I am just going to do daily quest and a cr in that area in live, then switch to beta; bug hunting beta as you kind of have to. I already warned a good chunk of the players I normally play with that I won't be on as much due to testing and bug hunting in beta while I have access. I knew what I was getting into once I clicked that button to get in.

@rain delta I truly hope that's now how it comes across. I think most of us older beta players are just speaking from experience, often from a sad realisation. It's been amazing to see so many people being enthusiastic about joining beta, but too many times it has turned out that their motivation wasn't always enduring or for the betterment of the game, but rather just for "the flashy things". But there are still lots of new players engaging with the game on almost a daily basis even after a few weeks.

It's also worth noting that no one is kicked out of beta for being inactive. Anything can happen in your life, however good intentions you had at the start of joining. Perhaps you were able to be very active the first week, then real life took over and you could only be active again towards the end. Kicking someone out for not being active places an unrealistic expectation on all beta testers, especially considering we are all doing this in our free time.

Report anything that doesn't look right ornact right in the game. Even if it only happens once and you aren't able to repeat it (like a cut scene glitch) report bugs in #beta-bugs-android #beta-bugs-ios and if you don't like how something acts just because you think it could be better (like a spirit quest being rediculously hard) put that in #beta-feedback so that the live players don't have to go thru that #struggle

A lot of people I notice get into beta not to test upcoming features, but get an early access/sneak peek of the new season, which leads to things like this happening... perhaps that needs to be stressed more and more often when sending out new invites. If you want to stay away from bugs and get game running smoothly, go back to LIVE. As someone who works in the IT industry and beta tester for a few other games previously, I can tell that most community beta testers are only out here to have a glimpse of new features, with bug hunting as a "bonus" to them. It's always frustrating to explain to people that beta apps are definitely buggy - that's the point of beta!

That said, if you can download the app and found the app crashes right at the start - consider yourself lucky. I for one am still unable to download the app even I'm enrolled into beta (Android) multiple times. And also as someone who works in the IT industry (like what I've said), I can tell you that Google's support is abysmal.

Good luck to TGC and every beta testers. Hunting for bugs is actually quite frustrating, but also fun and satisfying.
