The difficulty with flying games IMO tends to be the control schemes

Most games you have to work really hard to progress I feel we have it too easy and if it was harder to progress players would feel a higher sense of accomplishment when they level up

I don’t think it’s a bad thing for Sky to be accessible. If you lack challenges the game gives you, then it’s up to you to challenge yourself. Stuff like “get all the wax in citadel by threading the buildings and without touching the floor”. The game is open and so full of possibilities, it’s down to the player to decide whether they use their imagination and seek to push themselves. Base game wise: I don’t mind at all that the accessibility allows for nice candleruns that don’t have daily frustration

That’s valid lol. Personally I still feel like a moth sometimes, I’m a player who started in the rhythm season so it’s been like almost 9 months of daily playing and TS CR grind. This is the personal experience I have with the game.

Accessibility is good, but there comes a point where accessibility has diminishing returns.

Accessibility doesn’t mean you have to abolish a difficulty curve like they did in prairie (though anyway I don’t think the game should throw you against two areas you can’t access immediately once you start out)

The thing is too, is that Sky as a base game is about friendship, altruism and kindness. It appeals to a lot of nongamers and gamers alike. While it’s valid to look for challenges and thirst after them (I sure as heck do after I’m done CR, with flight challenges and practicing skating under the rink) we still can’t forget that most people in the TS grind are playing the same routes 1+ hour a day almost daily. Obstacles shouldn’t be so inconvenient as to create daily suffering.

And ahaha I would not have become a great flier if I hadn’t met other vets who dragged me on their routes and showed me the skill ceiling. If I was encountering daily pain points as a moth that were full of suffering/inaccessibility... I wouldn’t be here right now. I would have left the game. My flight skills were just barely OK to get from point A to B to finish the game. But CR took a ton of exploration, map study, crashing and flying frustrations.

The point of my suggestion was for it to be a way that the vets could get around the gate without disturbing moths. If you find activating the gate to be quicker, go right ahead.

I'm going to disqualify myself from this conversation, because I don't remember having a hard time flying. I do however remember trying to make candle runs as efficient as possible. On the rare occasion I still do one, I tend to skip most of the new areas...

The point is that moths wouldn’t even know about the crack unless they have an experienced friend taking them

So they can’t be daunted by a challenge they don’t know exists

It’s a way of naturally gating challenges until players are ready for it

But like, moths are good beans, why can’t they also access an entry that allows them to leave the map undisturbed? Cause opening the gate and letting the krills lose is adding into the pool of possible maps to merge into. Which ultimately becomes a pain for other players in the first place, even if it isn’t a direct/instantaneous consequence.

Cause that specific cutscene is part of the experience of sky, like getting krilled for the first time

Sky has 20k weekly players on the android games launcher alone. That number doesn’t include iOS devices or androids without the games launcher installed. That’s a lot of boats.

beta invites come out usually around the time the season in live ends, but we don't have a set time for when they come out. we don't know when they will come out. they will announce that they are doing beta invites/access wipe before they send out any invites, so just have the ping role and be ready for the invites to come.

i've heard that the gate skip doesn't work anymore in beta, however we don't know if this change was intentional. we also don't know if this change will go to the live game, since everything in beta is subject to change

Why do you need to bypass it? It literally takes a few seconds longer to light the dais and run for the gate.

I know it's a smoother experience to just jump through the gate, but stopping to light the dais and running through the gate as soon as it opens let's you skip the whole cut scene also.

Oh, I absolutely understand the not-unleash-krill thing, but it sounded more like people wanted a quick entrance to the temple. The main problem here is that the radar honk to locate other players is gone, because that used to be a polite custom you did upon approaching the temple.

I mean, before the whole server merge thing where the cut scene would play as soon as you were within jumping distance of the temple....

Hmm, that might be a bit limiting though, especially for an item that is an IAP so not everyone has it. I'm thinking along the lines of the table perhaps? Only people who have held hands with you in that zone will see the bullseye light toggle and only people who have you lit will see the glow toggle?

Some of them used to be able to access both beta and Live through "other means". But the Chinese government has tightened security around internet, so it's more difficult now.
