The spirit shop location for the invisible cape is a placeholder, it will not impact your ability to complete the Hidden Forest constellation or receive its Ultimate Gift. The price is not a placeholder. It's not meant to be something every player gets. It's not an Ultimate Ultimate gift for completing every constellation. It is meant to be a deliberately difficult item for those that really want to be capeless.

I wouldn't really say we built up a lot of hype around it since it's only ever been a beta item.
The design teams has plans for the crown, and plans for an ultimate gift related to completing every constellation, but those details have not been disclosed yet since i believe the design team is still deciding on what to do. The 999 heart cape, however, has nothing to do with any of that.

I can't really comment on, or answer questions about, the crown other than it's a thing that existed in the game code at one point in time and was briefing used in promotional images during beta and has since been removed/never been available to players.

Also, you don't need to directly @ staff for responses unless directly instructed to do so. It helps keep notifications clear for critical communications and emergencies.

Btw, just wanna thank you for giving us the fullscreen toggle. Lack of fullscreen was a complaint of mine from day 1 but I never imagined that it could cause motion sickness. So the toggle is the perfect solution.

That's part of the ODR changes for Android listed in #beta-announcements
ODR = On Demand Resources
which are additional files downloaded after the base game installation. Depending on how much free space your device has, additional levels are only downloaded as you need them, but when we do a new build, all levels must redownload with the latest files.

I suspect the issue arises when different players are reliving the same spirit and there is an instance merge for the one player who is trying to do it alone.
I'm saying this because the relive feature seems more stable when there are 2 or more players.

The fix for the spirits is less related to gameplay and more to do with some stuff under the hood. That being said, the questgiver missing was an unfortunate oversight >_< Having y'all test spirit quests helps but is only part of the picture, if that makes sense?

Even tried to crash it by "force quitting" during the download. Just restarted from the beginning
And now that it's all held in data, Titanium Backups works again!
Only thing, during the level downloads it kept shooting off "System: A resource failed to call close." errors

So something in FinalizerDaemon isn't closing as it's supposed to.

Interesting reading about motion sickness
From my experience motion sickness on large displays has a lot to do with FPS. If you're playing on a larger screen lower FPS is more noticable and you will experience it as harsher than on a smaller screen.
This is also related to why FPS on VR headsets is now above 90FPS to avoid producing headaches.
If you play on an iPad I would reccommend using 60FPS mode at all times. Personally I can't even deal with 30 fps because it looks like a slideshow to me.

Motion sickness is a game like Sky is also related to bad motion blur, something most people I find talking about it get wrong.
More frames = smoother motion blur effect > better experience
Less frames = harsher motion blur effect > worse experience
The motion blur in the game seems object based but I haven't looked into it too much. When you turn the camera fast on a big monitor with low FPS it can easily induce headaches.
If you double the FPS to 60 you will have such a better feeling to it.
In that sense, I'm really hoping they add 90 and 120 fps one day because that makes motion blur so much nicer. It's actually the opposite of what most developers use it for, where it can be a wonderful way to show motion but if it's added to "smooth out" low fps situations it's can be pretty terrible.
That's just related to frame timing @empty inlet , the device isn't powerful enough to produce a stable 60fps and will have uneven frametimes making it look stuttery. Stable 30fps is better on the eyes than 40-60 fps unstable
If you play 60fps on a large TV for example, using an HDMI converter- it looks pretty good.

The mix of low FPS with larger, more 4:3 aspect ratio display where the motion blur when you turn the camera becomes more spherical (since the camera is lensing) will more easily induce motion sickness versus a wide-screen 16:9 or 21:9 aspect ratio.

90Hz is just smoother than 60. The real differences are the doublings. so from 30 to 60 it's a huge change. 60 to 120 is another big noticable leap. 120 to 240 is noticable but only when turning ingame fast. For high motion games it's definitely a benefit, not so much for something like a card game.
There's a reason companies are making high refreshrate displays. The current world leading is a 360hz from ROG Swift. The pixel response is incredibly short.

You're just capping off the viewing angle. It helps two things, reducing the render load on your device and the fov narrows a bit because you're not seeing as much
OLED is usually slower on pixel response and a 60hz OLED vs a 120HZ LCD is a big difference to play games on, even for 60fps
So playing Sky on 60fps on an iPad Pro 2018 is much "nicer" than playing it on an iPhone 11 for example.
Both devices also can adjust white balance and some have color adjustments that means more input lag
The only thing that's nice playing on an OLED is the dark blacks. It's much richer color wise than an LCD

It's actually a quantum phenomenon called Schrödinger's Notch.
The scientific paper covers how when you take a screenshot on a device with a notch, the content is and is not there.
It's not until you look at the screenshot on a device without a notice that you have changed it's properties by looking at it, that it becomes visible.

This is basically what happened with the 6SE. I had a 5 and tried to hold off as long as possible, hoping they’d release another small phone. Then my battery died shortly before the 6S released. So I got a 6S. And then of course the SE came out. By then I got used to the larger screen and my eyes couldn’t go back to a smaller screen. :/

The changes to office access are quite new in beta and I think we’re supposed to give feedback on whether we think it’s a good solution.

I meant that oob are all technically bugs, which ideally should be patched to avoid breaking the game or causing unwanted issues for players.
But there is a history of oob all the way from Journey and of course, beta.

Thanks to the Community's help in reporting bugs and issues, we made some updates and tackled a few issues from the weekend:
- Fixed a bug where the Valley of Triumph and Golden Wasteland Seasonal spirits were floating in the air.
- Fixed the issue of missing candles in Vault of Knowledge.
- Reverted a previously patched out-of-bounds area in Isle of Dawn that was a fan favorite.
- Players can once again venture out-of-bounds from the Valley of Triumph temple.

Typically we don't disclose changes to address glitching into places we don't want players to go without meeting certain criteria. The more attention we give it, the sooner glitchers start working on a way to circumvent those efforts. Exception being my pointing out the portal change to the Office, since we wanted some focused testing of it. We do want to support out-of-bounds areas that are beloved places such as rainbow bridge and the valley coliseum. Those don't have the same kind of impact glitching into the Office does.

I think the oob areas add a lot of value to experienced players who like exploration (or at least they do to me!) For me its even a hold over from journey where some of my favorite memories were showing players different out of bounds areas! Lost track of when I last went to Eden. It’s always been a problematic level which fails to provide the same depth of meaning as the equivalent in Journey. That it is now more a tool to gain wing buffs and candles than being about death in the face of striving for a goal with world and story linked consequences leaves me not needing to go there anymore. Flight, once you have 100 buffs is so powerful and augmented by in-world wind lifts etc that there’s simply no functional need to go any further. Apart from all that, for me, Eden lack any sense if fun or enjoyment. It is a burden, a means to an end.

It’s more than 20 minutes. There’s a ton of unskippable stuff at the end, whether you’ve seen it once or 200 times.
And then you have to get all your wings back for the 100th time. Sure, there are some people who don’t mind that and have gone many times and have hundreds of ascended candles leftover. But most people can’t (and don’t want to) devote their life to something like that.

Well, my problems with Eden come with how everything is resolved after you ||die||.
In Journey, you met the Elder Virgin Mary lady then were thrown towards the light, flew towards the top of the Apotheosis level and walked towards the light. That was it.
In Sky, you fall. You head towards the child, you hug, you fly to the light. Then you have the level to reach the Orbit. Once you get to Orbit you have another section of the level where you meet the spirits first, then your friends, then head towards the light (again). Then you are on the starry path where you head towards the light in the portal. It drags on a little bit too much for my taste.
I feel Journey´s ending was more powerful and to the point. Also easier to understand.

i try to avoid comparing sky with journey, because although they obviously have some huge shared elements, i think they’re still fundamentally different games, trying to do different things, so treating sky as an attempt to do “journey but better” or something doesn’t make sense to me.

This being said, I understand the need to add the starry path hub at the top. Maybe I wouldn’t mind getting rid of the sipits and friends flying around you, since it lessens a bit the climax that is the ascent into orbit.
Also, the start of the level after being ||reborn|| has an overall different tone in both games. While the Apotheosis level is already a majestic walk in the clouds from the beginning, Sky starts from a darker place and still requires a somewhat painful ascent through broken ruins until you reach Orbit. Maybe that’s why it requires a longer cleansing route afterwards.

The trick is to jump over the gap when there’s a lull in the wind
You can also skip the jump entirely and flap up, but that’s a little trickier and I can’t get it to work quite as reliably as jumping over when the wind calms down

There seems to be some weird rumor going around that if you don't immediately go to eden after you get the wing buff off the traveling spirit before it leaves for the weekend you don't get to keep your wing buff.
We've tried to quash it every time it pops up but since we can't find the source, we can't get a handle on it/

In-game text is sent out for localization. Japanese and Chinese is usually done in-house by devs. If a translation is weird, submit a bug report about it so we can get it fixed. Helpshift FAQ from the Support Menu is only in English and Japanese because that's also done in-house. We don't support every language, so some things may be auto-translated ad probably get really wonky at times.
