Was going downstairs and thought of “man when will Sky bring out a horse mask” and then I find out that horse goes after snake 💀

it seems to be deer-like, specifically impala or gazelle, as its reminisce of the original deer ult mask & the nose is rather thin with a more cat-like V shape unlike cows- and the horns specifically angle upwards, are long, amd curled unlike most bovines.

it could also just be a mix of both bc why not 🙂 a cow gazelle/impala amalgamation

ive had hours where I instantly crash everywhere as well, and then after reinstalling the app (I’m on ios) and waiting for a while, it was okay again.

I’d say reinstall again (and maybe clear cache + data if you’re on android) and wait for a little while. It’s super unstable

There aren't any ways to fix the crash. Some things work, some don't. Some people are finding just uninstalling, clearing cache, and then reinstalling helps out but not always. I found being able to teleport with special capes out of my nest works, but that doesn't always work for everyone either.
The best thing is just to wait for the next update to hopefully fix the crashes!

I’ve been able to play by restarting my game after crashing and trying different things to access the levels, like using a guide to teleport or one of the special capes. It’s not a consistent fix and it might need several tries, but playable enough for beta if you have the time

For anyone having trouble with crashing try this, it helped me twice (although it will probably take a lot of tries until it works!!): after pressing play and on the loading screen with the logo, turn airplane mode on until you see the retry message. Repeat this a few times by turning on the WiFi and letting it load a little then turning on airplane mode again (and try exiting (not closing the game, but temporarily) and re entering the game) and it miiight not crash when its done loading.

Make sure to set aviary as your home if it works, or you'll have to do it all over again. This method works both before and after watching the season cutscene btw!!

Start running even before the opening cut scene ends, my home space is set to aviary, and I found that if I go backwards through the archway towards the original platform where we landed before aviary was open
After the cut scene ends, I fly up in the air
Then the game shouldn’t crash
Sometimes it still crashes and you have to try this several times

If your home space is set to the original home, press the controls like you’re running even before the cut scene ends and aim for forest and as soon as you’re able to actually get control fly into forest

Hey! Thank you for this! I found a method that works based on your description! I used Airplane mode after my kid loaded and the Sky logo disappears, then I am able to run into Aviary while pressing the retry button. After I set Aviary as home, I turned off Airplane mode and was able to play as normal. Tried reloading the game, no more crash now

You can try some of the steps suggested by other testers (sometimes it needs several attempts) to see if you can load up the game without crashing, but this kind of instability is normal for beta and listed in #beta-known-issues. If you’re out of luck or time there will be other builds in the future as testing progresses!

Days of Fortune I am only getting 2 currency from the snake activity. I interacted with all of the spirits and they are not giving me any currency. In my head, the pole is an icon of aviary, we see it featured in a Duets memory so I believe it might be a bug that it's missing (maybe one of the causes of the crashes, it tries to load it up but went on a loop?)

I always have to fully pull down the notification bar so I could change the volume, it was the best workaround I found

I mean this is something minor, I understand them focusing on other things specially when they fixed it right after

I really think none of the bugs that slip in are intentional, I've been noticing the difference in quality and polish between some seasons, so I think they had a very tight schedule, which also concerns me because as a company they shouldn't be doing that, I'd be okay with longer seasons or longer wait between them

So with tighter schedules, it's hard to catch all the bugs

Season of Nesting, Nine Colored Deer, etc

They were all definitely not ready to release

A few more weeks would be enough to polish them out, because they did get improved later on

And then we look at Season of Moomin, and it's definitely the season they allocated most of their schedule and budget into

I really don't get this idea. Sure, some seasons might have different focuses, so the attention might shift on different teams. For example, Nesting has no new soundtrack, so the soundtrack team could work on something else. Meanwhile, Moomin doesn't relate much to Sky lore, so the writers can focus their attention on a different season.

But I don't think there's an objective difference in the amount of polish between seasons. Sometimes there's an imbalance (usually technical), but not much else.

that's totally not what I meant, it's not about the areas, it's about how everything is done, how everything is polished, how the ideas come to life, etc.

Moomin season was one of the most impressive seasons of all time, every quest is a work of art, it's deep, meaningful, overall amazing, all the animations, music, everything played out smoothly (besides the framerates)

But some seasons don't get nearly the same level of polishing

Nesting got little to no focus on the quests, it was basically every fetch seasonal quest, and the ending was done with text boxes, the nest itself also released with lots of issues like almost everything being off-grid, and they couldn't fully produce what they had in mind while the season was live.

9CD has a stunning area, but the quests lacked polishing, had an insanely buggy release, etc., while Moomin season didn't have any major issues regarding the season itself

It's normal for gaming companies to put more time and budget into content they think is more important, so some seasons do get more worked on than others, that's normal.

About the writers, it's also not true, one of the challenges of working with collabs, is how to merge the two worlds, and how to actually execute said story, even more when there's plenty of dialogues, and that definitely took most of the writers' work.

We can see this on the Moomin Season Devchat, most of the video consists of the writing team explaining the work behind the scenes

I genuinely think that's what gives Sky so much charm. Every seasons feels and looks so distinct from one to another that way it can please to many people without feeling too redundant. For exemple I've seen many people hating on Season of Passage while it was personally one of my favorite seasons ever. Plus the fact that they are randomly adding brand new mechanics within new seasons make them so unpredictable and fun. Back in Light Awaits never, NEVER I'd have imagined us to ever be able to dive and visit the underwater, and they did it. It's quite underused but it's still there and Treasure Reef is definitely my favorite area ever. Sure they don't spend the same amount of money/attention/polish to every seasons but to me it's fine. Despite the many bugs just imagining what the next season will look like makes me daydreaming a lot, I love how surprising it is. The same thing applies to this current Season of Moomin, I was SHOCKED learning the story of Ninny. I've never imagined Moomin or/and Sky to discuss such sad topics as child neglect, and they made it perfectly, it's touching and heartwarming.. and who could have guessed that right after this season they'd let us basically recolor our cosmetics? So unpredictable, I love that..

Just take a notebook real quick, and note what YOU think the next season after Radiance will be, I'm sure TGC will surprise you with something yet again so unexpected, I'm so excited

The biggest problem with the Moomin area was the trees, causing massive restrictions on actually entering the area. In my opinion, they should have found a creative solution around it.

And I don't think the collabs are fully redundant. When done well, they can integrate very well with Sky. But I feel as if the Moomin season specifically focused too much on the Moomin part, and not enough on the Sky part. A lot of restrictions probably came from Moomin themselves, but it leaves me a bit cynical that TGC would choose to work with a company that wouldn't let the two worlds fully come together. Especially if you look at the other collabs, where they integrated more seamlessly into Sky.

All your stuff is subjective, though. You can't accurately determine how much budget goes into each season; that sort of stuff is determined well in advance and mostly in secret.

Most of your praises/complaints could be easily flipped. I can very easily claim that Moomin was one of the laziest seasons of all time, every quest is a ripoff of the source material with no changes, it's shallow, barely relates to Sky, no spirits, a compromise season area.

Previous update uses native resolution of your Device e.g 1080p
but now they went back to the original 720p that's why it looks less sharp now.

im not sure if this is their way to remedy the crash? but im certain they thought of lessening the work load for now in their engine. seems like the dye function introduced a whole lot of problems in the engine.

I must be lucky because I only have had one crash from the snake game so far and don't seem to have much issues with crashing anywhere else... I did find Duets last quest to be bugged strangely ... my kid zoomed all around and then landed out of view and I had to press the emote icon very carefully in order to complete the last Duets quest. I did some broadcasting and I think it worked? I have no idea what it looked like to the crowd but I saw someone else's and it looked like a shared memory

to be clear the broadcast button and the emote for the last Duets quest were almost overlapping so it was very difficult

To all the people who crash right after logging onto beta, I was able to stop the crashes by doing this:
Log onto Sky in Home and sprint towards Hidden forest.
If you reach Forest, turn down all your graphics settings to minimum and go home. You should hopefully get by without crashing

Of course, if you've set your home to Aviary... I got nothing
