Nah you're right. It would really be devastating if the game was banned in any country over this event. So it should be understandable why they don't explicitly code it as an LGBT+ event

Tbh I like the idea of items having both ticket and candle prices. That way tickets make more sense too, it's like yk arcades. It also solves the problem I was thinking about.
Like, if this sticks, what will happen on next year? There is a definite amount of tickets one can get, and you can definitely get one new item, but what will happen to old ticket items? Will they have to go for candles? Or will they have to be repriced so it's possible to get them? Or will one have to choose between items?
Having both prices would make it possible for one to redeem at least one item very much for free, while the other ones can be bought for candles as usual. And you can choose to not bother with tickets and just buy for candles if that's what you want

This is only the first build and the system could still change a lot! I do think it’s a good system but there should be an option to buy tickets with candles as well. But yeah it’s mostly for new players. I already feel tgc caters to old players a lot so its refreshing to see they finally take new players into consideration imo

The whole point is to reduce grinding. It's kinda weird you don't like grinding for tickets, which is quick and easy, but are fine with grinding for candles

if they put a ticket converter that you can use to convert candles to tickets then I think most problems are solved if not all, old players can just convert the amount of candles needed to get the required amount of tickets for the items meanwhile newer players can both save their candles for other stuff like constellations and travelling spirits while still being able to get the current event items without using any candles for it!

I think the main point is to stop grinding for white candles. However, if you are looking for more player interaction. I think it does reduce it since players in general would just do the event candles and log out. In my point of view that is. I mean a dev did say yesterday they don't like the term grind for the tickets since it's meant to be easing the whole grinding mentality of the game - from what I understand currently of the new system is for events we'll just hop on daily and grab a number of tickets each time that eventually accumulate to the price of the item(s) we need - this eliminates the need for candles for new items added, so we can save those for past items, for ts, for friendship nodes, or for base game.

From patch notes and devs dropping by yesterday it seems we'll have ample tickets to collect throughout the event so people shouldn't end up short (hopefully they take into account players who can't play every day) so when the event is run as intended for probably 3 weeks (since that seems to be the new norm) we'll have been just collecting tickets alongside our usual candle runs or whatever else we do in sky without feeling as much pressure about spending abc candles on this thing and xyz candles on another thing

I feel like this ticket system is mainly being implemented for newer players, and not for older players because it is indeed useless for them as they have a stock of candles, don't forget that not everyone has a bunch of candles saved up for future events

if you want you can use your candles to convert them to tickets and buy the cosmetics that way instead of logging in every day
and if you're a newer player or don't have lots of candles you can just log in every day to collect tickets (without converting candles) and use your regular candles for the TS or the constellations

New players have tickets only to look for even if they have zero candles and don't need to struggle as much worrying about whether to spend them on friends or the event
Longtime players who saved up a lot can just get the items as is faster or spend the time getting tickets so they don't use the candle stock

It really is about having more options there's no downside to it lol

absolutely no shade to anyone here, but it sometimes feels like the only people represented in discussions like this are veterans with thousands of candles to spare or moths who just joined the game. it kinda leaves people like me, whove been around long enough to know what to expect but not so long that theyve bought everything out, in a weird spot. take mischief for example, in 2021 i saw the witch hair/cape and couldnt buy it, but when i finally got around to buying the hair in 22, the cat hair was added. it feels sometimes like im never gonna get the chance to “catch up”

I've been playing for a while, there's only a few spirits i haven't seen as the ts or who weren't part of a season i finished. there's not much i can spend my candles on if there's a repeat ts but the newer players don't have that problem. I think it's a bit sad that the only item they can get with the event currency is the new cape especially since a lot of people already know about the old cape and might have it on their wish list. there should be an option to pick what you use your tickets on

It's an awesome idea by the dev team, but I feel like it's kind of a temporary solution if not handed well, if the same event happen again several times and new cosmetics keep being sold by tickets, along with the past cosmetics that were sold keep their ticket price, after a while we'll have the same situation: a lot of cosmetics, that some people can't keep up if they don't collect more (this time not candles, but event tickets).

But this could be also solved if they gradually raise the amount of tickets we can earn with the event every time it occurs, and/or add new ways to earn more tickets meanwhile the event is active, since it doesn't matter if you stack them up in the end, they just disappear.

Maybe come up with some kind of rule like "after x event occurs more than 2 times, some cosmetics will no longer be sold for tickets", and keep the tickets for newer cosmetics while older ones start to be sold with candles, could be a double-edged sword thing though.

I agree with this, the grind mentality is so present in games these days. most free to play games rely on fomo and sky is no exception. It makes sense to have to play to get things but I think they should allow some leeway for this so people can miss a few days at least. i appreciate that the devs are trying to reduce the inflation issues but as it is now the currency introduces a new problem that was previously more of an issue with the seasons

👉They can’t be stocked up, but there are also enough available during the event to unlock the new IGC items being introduced.
👉Enough event currency will be available to unlock new IGC items without having to gather all possible currency from every day of the event.

As a note for others, the easiest way I've found to get up to the sky islands is by rocketing with a friend

Wait till the splits stop occurring, rocket up to one of the lower islands, wait there as splits will happen again, and as soon as the splits stop happening, rocket up to the highest islands. Should get you up there pretty easily. (I tried with white candle piggyback first, but splits would happen before we could make it to the first island, making it too difficult to get up)

On one end they were never open about the Days of Rainbow being LGBT themed (as far as I am aware), even if it's quite clear, but it does leave a bad taste in my mouth that what they're ultimately doing is just changing the event so that it will pass international censorship. I sure hope they add more ways to get tickets, or that the event goes longer than I thought it would. So far it'll take 19 days to get the cape assuming you never miss a day. Using a guess of 3 weeks of Rainbow days you can't really miss many, so anyone who has more then 3 days without internet access or time to play can't get the cape. Also why is the cooldown so long, nobody is even talking here.

If, say enough people are present for the event, all players that were present and took part in are rewarded with 4 extra hidden tickets! That makes it so you can get 8 tickets a day! 4 for entering the event, and another 4 for taking part in it. What do you guys think? 🤔

The current server problems have led to many bad situations. Either you can only see the sea when you enter the game, or the word server error appears all the time after you enter. Even when you are chatting with other players, the message cannot be sent out, that is, it is delayed.

Well its sort of like season candles, but once you get enough it’s pointless to keep collecting since they don’t convert. But not having a way to “catch up” will definitely stress people out

Bloom for example the first cape was only 70 candles and the most recent one was 110 candles instead all of the capes could have been 70 which would still be expensive but not getting more and more expensive

Tbh, rainbow area isn't holding much appeal to me... But a large part of that is due to the constant server splits and recent crash/darkness-loop I've experienced while there... I don't doubt that this will be fixed, but it's not a great experience currently. I eagerly await when the rainbow area is in a stable state that allows for exploring the upper rainbow brilliance.

As for the tickets... They're interesting. I see the appeal for putting new players on an even ground for specific cosmetics. If it becomes a treasure hunt to find them in the realms, I can see that being a source of stress for players who don't have a lot of time for sky, or who don't know the layout of the realms well. If they appear in realms that newer players may not have unlocked, that's added stress of completing/progressing faster than they might be comfortable with, or of just costing income due to an unwillingness to progress faster.

I think my biggest concern however is for the players who are completionists, who will collect every ticket they can even past buying cosmetics. Most players who have played sky for a while know that seasonal candles convert into regular at the end of a season. They may expect this of tickets, regardless of posts/updates/etc (because let's be honest, not every player reads the EULA or patch notes or such).

But those are just my thoughts currently... May change with further updates to rainbow, might not

The ticket system is very wip at the moment, Im sure they still need to figure out how to implement them in a way that is unique to other currencies and makes the experience fun, instead of only pointing out flaws suggest ways to solve them, ideas to help make tickets fell like they aren't a burden could be through random collection through candle runs collection from daily quests finding them in event area and so on perhaps they could have the event spirits give players an extra quest in order to get some bonus tickets, maybe social spaces can spurt out the occasional ball that gives a ticket instead of wax during the event suggest new ways for these to be implemented because tickets have potential but looking at the negatives isn't going to improve them

The only way i can genuinely suggest to improve tickets without scrapping them is letting people convert candles to tickets if they want or need.
The point of the tickets is so players can catch upon candle items more easily but people who miss one too many days will completely miss a chance if there is no converter. The issue with just converting candles to tickets is they’ve never really done anything that allows players to make multiple purchases of an item in one day.
E.g. only being able to buy one spell a day/week from the boat
Sending a heart to a friend etc.
They’ve never allowed us to bulk purchase these kinds of things and I feel like they still wouldn’t with these tickets. By limiting conversions to 1 ticket = 3 candles a day. That which would still require numerous days until you can even unlock the cosmetic.

The ONLY answer I can see to this issue is just letting people pick for themselves what currency they want to use to buy items from events, tickets or candles.

Just saying - vet gets maybe a 5% boost to their candles, moth gets a 40% boost (Yes, I realize my math prolly is wrong). Moth feels better and less stressed for being able to buy a few more cosmetics or spells or friendship unlocks a bit faster than they otherwise might have.

I mean, yeah, if costs were lower, some players would still max out their earnings to unlock everything as quickly as possible. But most I think most would move away from a grind mentality.

It's like saving up for a computer. If it's a $500 computer and you earn $600 every two weeks working full time, you aren't going to go take on an extra job or over time. Whereas a $1500 computer, if you want it in the same amount of time... You're going to work those extra hours so that you can also buy food and pay the rent.

I play Sky with PlayStation and there is "Trophy" award if players can complete something in game: carrying crab over a long period of time, finding fairy ring, get level 10 wing power, etc. It will be very cool if event tickets can be obtained by doing unique quests like these, especially if it relates to the event, such as: flying with color trail, or use rainbow spell somewhere. It will definitely make the event more engaging rather than hunting for hidden tickets.. I'll definitely send this to feedback!

Some people who are adding friends via QR in Beta are getting locked out of their accounts for pretty much no reason, or something about the QR made all accounts involved become too unstable to play, we don’t really know.

We're not entirely sure what's causing the issue since it isn't consistently locking everyone out of their accounts when they're sending qrs - but basically yeah, some of us have sent out qrs and the other players have accepted them and then both parties have ended up with eternal server errors that when you try to restart your app hoping it'll fix then you get trapped in a never moving/ending load screen with yet more server errors

I still don’t understand why everyone is so darn upset over the name change. Days of rainbow was never purely about the lgbt community and it wasn’t designed to only celebrate the lgbt community. It was designed to celebrate diversity which involves, yes, the lgbt community AND other minorities as well

I feel like by complaining and complaining ab the name change you guys are, in a way, trying to exclude the other minorities out there and make it all about the lgbt community only

Hmm. Discussion of other Elder masks I see? I already own all 3 in Live, so um, honestly I'm all for more Elder masks. I'm currently burnt out in the game and have nothing to do. Releasing more Elder masks will give me something to look forward to.

Not quite a music event if it was introduced in season of performance as a natural quest progression
But you are able to get to harmony hall without knowing about performance as is
