I watched a playthrough before getting Journey as well. I don't think it ruined the experience for me, I enjoy replaying the game a few times a year and it's still quite emotional, but I feel like I missed out on the uncertainty of a blind playthrough.

Not natively, but you can install Android x86 project to run Sky on PC. It has a translator for arm64 code (what most phones use) to x86_64 (what most computers use). So you can run it on a separate drive partition with the OS installed and fetch it from the play store

So technically, yes and no

Yes you can play it on pc, but it’s not meant to be played on pc and will recognise it as mobile

I heard regular android x86 only translates 32-bit code, so look for a fork of it. Apparently BlissOS translates both 32-bit arm and arm64

So really you can play sky on any computer provided you’re comfortable with disk partitioning and dual boot OS setup

This actually goes beyond sky and works for all mobile games. Before doing all of this though make sure there’s a version compiled to be run natively on whatever OS you use as your main (either windows, Mac, or Linux). It will run better on those than it will android x86

Yes no question sky, journey and flower are all masterful works of art. Some of the best video games of all time. I’ve been playing video games for more than 30 years and gaming has always been my favorite hobby so i can say this with a great deal of confidence. My personal favorite Tgc game is Sky only because of its community, free to play and the way that it’s built to be added onto virtually forever as well as maintain an active, large player base for a very long time.

I’ve been gaming for about as long as that and I wholeheartedly agree. I haven’t finished journey (though love it so far) and haven’t played Flower yet, but Sky is definitely one of the best video games I’ve ever played. Truly a work of art and on par with The Legend of Zelda, which is the game that first got me into adventure fantasy when I was a kid and the sequels of which I’ve enjoyed throughout my life. Sky’s story and the community aspects are both unique achievements, unlike anything else I’ve experienced.

I just finished Journey and wow, what an incredible game! It’s impossible to not compare it to Sky, since so many elements from Journey, from the storyline to design to gameplay and basic concepts, carried over but it’s still very much its own game and a unique experience. Aesthetically it’s just as gorgeous as Sky, in some ways more so, at least IMO. Will definitely play it again because I feel like there’s more to discover.

In Flower, you play as the wind. On PC, you use the wasd keys to move your gust around. You can fly all around each level and your goal is to collect flower petals all around 🥀

Good question. Sky and Journey already kinda follow the same essential story (explore ruins of a civilization, learn about its story from ancient spirits who guide you to a glowing mountain top ||where you ultimately die and become reborn||). So if Sky were basically the same game it is now but set in the world of Journey, it would sorta be Journey as it already exists but with more social features, cosmetics, spirits, seasonal events, and expanded realms. It’s fun to imagine what that would be like, but at the same time I’m glad that Sky, while borrowing heavily from Journey, is still very much its own game set in its own world.

Sky definitely has more replay value for that reason. I love both games for different reasons, but there's no way I'll put in as many hours with Journey as I have already put in to Sky. It's a game I'll probably play through occasionally, the same way I'll sometimes watch a favorite movie. It is interesting to think what character customizations might look like if Sky were set in the world of Journey, but I also love the distinct world of sky. However, I have to say I was really delighted, as I played through Journey, discovering all of the different elements that ended up in Sky, from gameplay to creatures to individual realms/chapters to the overarching story.

Totally agree @edgy cradle especially with the time spent in sky. I’d probably be astonished myself if I knew exactly how much time I’ve spent playing it. It’s amazing that it NEVER gets old. Not just because there is always some new content being added but also the community itself is alive with all sorts of activity. I love that you can be in a place you’ve seen 100 times but every now and then there’s people doing things there you’ve never seen. So the games community makes places like home especially but really anywhere in the game a unique thing

A great example was the AWESOME fireworks shows during the American Independence Day in the home space

That's so cool! I love that there are so many different ways to play with other people in Sky. The social aspect is really what sets it apart from Journey, especially now since Journey is fairly old and it's rare to see other players at all. But as a solo game, Journey is spectacular.

Since I started gaming as a kid I've always loved Nintendo over every other console primarily because of their original titles. Shigeru Miyamoto has long brought this unique sense of fun and creativity to game development that has been unlike anything found elsewhere. Like the Legend of Zelda games will always be among my favorite not only because they are fun to play but because they are truly unique and have a story to tell that resonates deeply. I feel like TGC embodies a similar spirit as that of Nintendo, especially in its early days.

I love Nintendo but i have to admit I’m a PlayStation guy myself. LOVE the final fantasy series and really love hidetaki Miyazaki’s work with the souls games, bloodborne and sekiro as well as armored core. Unbelievable world building and genius storytelling. Miyazaki and from software actually reminds me of Tgc a lot. They’re styles are very different but very similar story telling style but most importantly from software is one of the few game developers left on earth that make games with enormous pride and make games FOR GAMERS rather than just profit. I actually think Miyazaki might be the single best artist of any kind on earth right now....

From software titles are notoriously difficult which is part of its brilliance. But not everyone likes their games because of the steep difficulty. If you can get into and enjoy any of those souls titles or bloodborne and sekiro it’ll change your outlook on gaming forever.

There seem to be several analogous realms between Journey and Sky. Valley is an analog of the Descent, Vault is an analog of the Temple, Wasteland is an analog of Tunnels (in that they are where you first encounter the Krills / guardians and have an atmosphere that is both sad and kinda creepy), and ||the Mountain is an analog to Eden.||

Also to be clear I don't want anyone feeling like I'm stepping on their interpretation of the relationship between Sky and Journey. Both games are very open to interpretation and I don't think my perception is more correct than anyone elses.

I play on an old iPhone instead of an iPad but Journey runs really well. Imo it’s not as good as the other ports but it’s worth buying anyway if you can’t play it any other way.
I’ve never encountered that purple flash bug. The game freezes once in a while and if you play with higher graphics the music can become really wonky, but I still really enjoy it

If you didn't get them the first time through you can go through again and get all of the glowing symbols. You can access each level individually from the chapter select area (end of the first stage). It's similar to Home in Sky but much bigger. Theres a platform there that (somewhat cryptically) shows you which symbols you've already collected. ||Once you get all the glowing symbols, you can get the white cape, which recharges every time you land. Also, every time you play through the game, you get more embroidery on your robe||

I found the achievements pretty fun to do, getting all the glowing symbols and finding the glyph walls ( you can see the glyphs you found in the chapter select area! They're on the walls around their corresponding area portals), the fl0w and flower Easter eggs are a common target too. Most of the replay value comes from chill exploration and traveling with different people ( there's no bots and it's always a bit different depending on who you're matched with). There's of course oob and movement techniques to master too (like extremely fast flying or falling on your face). There's an active journey server discord in the pinned messages.

Abzu is made by Giant Squid Studios. Even if they have developers that were previously from TGC, it’s disrespectful of their work to dismiss that. I understand you are sad you can’t talk about it, it’s a great game, but you seem to bring it up here way too often and things are not changing. I think the scariest thing about them are the sounds they make. Playing in the dark with headphones on and listening to one pass by or overhead...terrifying. Though I think they did a great job with the sound effects that the Krills make, too. That creepy mix of mechanical and biological is just right.

It could be an issue with your computer reading the files correctly, and uninstalling and reinstalling might fix it

However, if I recall correctly, you will lose your save

Unless you specifically identify which file contains your save and save it to re-add to your game files after reinstalling, upon uninstall all files that make up the game are purged, including saves

I'm not sure it's worth it for journey on steam, however, as steam likes to hide files fifteen bloody layers deep, and I'm not sure if journey structures saves the same way, say, minecraft does

Sky was called Sky: Light Awaits and later renamed to Sky: Children of the Light, and until global launch for iOS it was only available for soflaunch (live-service) in limited regions as well as beta-testing globally. Both of those are different apps than the global live one we have now, the softlaunch version was discontinued and the beta version is still used for testing

I finished playing Journey for the first time and god it's such a beautiful game. when i was ||entering the light to finish the game||, a buddy I was with drew a heart in the snow before we ||went into the light|| and honestly when the game finished i teared up, it was such an amazing experience.
