The shards always land in the quest realm of the day (which today is Valley, tomorrow will be Wasteland), although some days are black shards only so you can't complete the quests with those. There isn't really a set schedule either, so we just have to see every day where they end up and whether it's black or red

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding this season. Is there more to it than just getting the shards? like yesterday I did it and I got transported to like.. the dream place, ran around and really did nothing, then left. Yes that was the quest, once you complete it you get transported to the void room where it shows you a piece of memory with some creatures. If you teleport to the room from the season guide at home, there are also "spirits" there that you can purchase the seasonal cosmetics from

F2p can only miss 3 days to afford everything when getting full seasonal candles every other day. Then things like this (or just general servers outages) prevent them from even getting their candles on days the are able to play. It is completely understandable these players are wishful for compensation and it is completely within TGCs control/ability to do so. Just like it's within their possibility to be more lenient towards missing days but they don't and have never changed anything after similar issues because this is better for sales while they are still seen as the victim.

not defending tgc here, just trying to reassure players. ftp can actually miss more than 3 days. there's 32 candles worth of skippable blessing nodes because you can't access the pass locked cosmetic beside it and you can't access the pass locked heart above it so no point in spending that many candles on a blessing you can get on ark way cheaper.

that's due to how much of a partial candle you already had. the shard gives 3.5 candles so if you have 0.5 or more before the event you will forge 4

Where are you getting 32 from? Season lasts 77 days with a cost of 386 candles including hearts, 374 without hearts. This is the only cost difference, since the second tier unlocks are always free for AP holders. Those don't add any cost.

77*5 candles equals 385 possible for f2p to obtain, so they can miss 11 candles or a little over 2 days. Because of the usual week of bonus candles (7) they can most likely actually miss 18 candles, which is roughly 3 days (a little over actually)

I totally understand, and asking for compensations isn't going to help them fix the issues any time sooner. But it's not like these people asking for compensation is getting in the way of this either, and again it is completely reasonable to expect this when not only other games do this regularly, but TGC also sets the bar (grind) quite high and isn't too tolerant about taking a short break if you want to get everything.

they won't. i was locked out of the game for a week. had ample undeniable proof in the form of time stamped bug reports in this server as well as video evidence. i didn't get compensated when they claimed they compensated affected players. instead in game support now closes all my tickets without answering them. they've proven multiple times they don't actually fix things well

indeed in my nearly 11 months of playing sky the only time i remember ever getting compensation is when switch users were bugged for like a week so they got a bunch of candles (both normal and seasonal) for compensation (which is kind of funny because i remember only being affected by that once)

I feel like I’m probably in the minority, but I love this season. Sky’s story has largely been told in fragments of memory and the spaces we explore, and Shattering combines the two. And the eruptions are both beautiful and fun.

But keep in mind grinding isn’t the spirit of the game, that’s what I figured out after burn out cause ultimately it’s just to make friends and have a good time. I personally get caught up too and I think they really need to chill on the candols amount and same here I do dislike shattering which is why I’m taking time off. I’m not okay with what’s happening kinda but I just feel like if we are toxic then what’s the point to sky? Hard agree. Minus the first week being pretty buggy, I'm happy this season adds something for us to do (even outside the season). Most people rarely visit seasonal areas like abyss after the season because there's no real reason to go there (other than to hang out with people I suppose). Just like Performance this season brings something new to the table and I'm all for it.

Look I understand you but grinding is most certainly intentional. TGC wants to profit and they know people will rather buy candles if the time investment required is too high. This ultimately affects everyone, even people who weren't going to buy candles anyways. Because this grind could've been reduced by a lot if there wasn't any money to be had by TGC.
Things like limited availability windows add to the FOMO which are also tricks to push some players towards the in-app store.
TGC is a company made of a bunch of surely lovely people, but a company that wants to profit nonetheless.

For those without AP, you can skip the last spell nodes on the manta and plant spirits to save an extra 32 candles! I really hope TGC does something to compensate for the people missing out on SC during this, but if worse comes to worse, those without AP can miss a total of 8 days if they need to. It doesn't make this better, but I hope it eases some people's minds just a little

Ping off but I left for a while and came back to the discussion and I know it’s mostly moved on, but think this is worth addressing because I share your concern, Vol, that the negativity that can sometimes permeate here on discord and other social media channels hurts the community and could put off new players. That’s not to say that the frustration and disappointment people share here isn’t valid, but there are constructive ways to express those feelings that doesn’t drag down the community. At the same time, interestingly enough, I’m not really finding the same negativity seeping into the game itself. My interactions with my in game friends remain as lovely as ever and that’s ultimately what keeps me playing Sky. To anyone feeling brought down by the negativity that can rear its head here, I recommend investing more time developing your relationship to the Sky community within the game itself than on social media.

i know the shard events are supposed to happen every 2 hours, starting 1 hour after reset, but ive noticed in the end of the "day" (like approaching reset) the shard event seems to happen 2 hours before reset rather than one? if this makes sense to anyone

like assume that the game resets at midnight for me. shard events should happen at every odd numbered hour, so the last one should be at 11. but instead it's at 10

You need the ac's shard, you also need to teleport to the seasonal area from the shard event after you've done the memories. Today is the black shards which give wax and don't include memories

The shard event is only in one area per day. It changes everyday in order of the realms, tomorrow will be vault but we won't know the exact location til tomorrow. Whether it's ac or regular wax is also random and we also won't know til the event comes tomorrow and so on. The shard event was in valley yesterday, it's in Gw today and no longer in valley etc

You need to wait for day that event shard throws red shards, which give ac and memories. Black shard give regular candle wax which is for today. Just have to check the discord everyday or check it yourself daily for whether it's ac or wax day. After you get the memories, don't tp home, but wait for the quest giver to appear after a few seconds and tp from there. You can't complete the quest if you do it from home, will just tell you to go do it again. And you're all good! TGC's information about the season and shard event is very vague or non existent, leaving it to players to figure out. Everyone was pretty confused and frustrated for the first few days

that's server error and a visual bug. you probably won't actually forge anything from it. lots of places are going haywire and appearing to give extra wax or none at all. and most people aren't collecting any despite seeing the animation for collecting

they did fix the reset rollover bug. that really only affected the first shard so they changed the timing so the last shard of the previous day can't roll over through reset. now that that's fixed every shard for the game day should be the same

I just noticed that whenever I merge my game either keeps working or crashes but I see improvements where it errors but keeps working after a sec
