The cutscene is a cutscene to end the season. A really nice one at that.
The quest giver (elder/grandma) gives you a campfire as the ultimate reward when you tap the SeasonBelonging icon below the !

If you tap the top left corner of your screen, it’ll bring up all the quests for you to double check. (Just make sure there isn’t a candle icon there otherwise it’ll forge a candle or open the shop instead, wait for any candle icons to disappear first). The spirit is the cry spirit in the final section with the broken bridges, and there are two mantas you can save, either the one under the ramp as you enter the broken bridges section, or to the right, directly below the rear exit of the sunny forest section (where the underground cavern is located). @sweet merlin

@azure valve the manta might already be released. If that is so, you could go in the doorway to the sunny forest which is right above the big manta in the pond area and then come back. It will reset all the darkness plants in the level

Wasteland’s is in the second area with all of the krill. It should be behind the cliffs on the right (but past the entrance to the ship)
Valley’s is in the temple area at the end where the bunch of candles are. It should be to the very left

But players with the paid Seasonal Pass also unlock an extra reward with each free node they unlock

At the end of a Seasonal Spirit’s ‘rewards tree’ (that’s what I call them)

There will be a heart, traded for 3 Seasonal Candles

#

If you get all 6 from the Seasonal Spirits this season

You’ll unlock the ultimate reward from Grandma!

It doesn’t show in the emote menu because it is a friendship interaction, so it appears high up the friendship tree high above hugs and high fives etc (where piggy back and warp etc are). Or is it trouble actually activating and collecting the spirit?

Yeah you can collect it without seeing the cutscene at all. They are separate things. The cutscene is triggered by pressing the little flag in the middle of the belonging constellation. The reward is obtained from clicking the seasonal icon on grandma. SkyTada

Are you doing it alone? It's super hard to do it on your own. I advise you bring at least one friend so you can run and hide when the Krill spot you, or stay with the spirit if your pal gets spotted and needs to run.

#

So far I've done it 5 times.
It's so much easier if you can communicate with your friend, cause you need to understand each other and collaborate. I did it once with my sister (it worked cause she listened to my instructions), and twice with my brother (first time didn't work cause he wouldn't stay close to me).
So if you're the one tagging along, please stay close to your pal and be prepared to split up to find out who's being spotted. And be quick to make your decision. If your pal gets spotted and charged, leave them be and keep walking, they should go back on their feet and join you after they (hopefully) collected their lost lights. You do have some time, but you never know what might happen, so every chance you have to keep walking the spirit forward, take it.
If you drop the spirit, it might reset, so that's the reason why you always want to have at least one person holding it.

I find that sometimes with emote quests you need to face the person you’re doing it towards, and ideally— they should be facing you too, but thats not necessary but i feel the quest more often than not register when that happens pThink

Valley: go to the temple at the end of valley, and turn to the left, there’s a spirit door where you have to guide a spirit to its memories, beware of crabs

#

Wasteland: I’m not too sure on this one, cause some other people found it first and I joined, but it’s in the graveyard

Vault: I actually forgot sorry

@sharp grove you might find it doesn’t register if you’ve meditated before you spoke to grandma. I know someone else had a similar problem earlier in the week. It won’t let you meditate a second time so you might have missed out on a candle there today. It’s really important to remember to speak to grandma before you do anything!
