I personally will make my best to maximize my dye storage like 99 of each color and then go to my usual candle runs 💅
I already got 99 for red and it max of what you can collect

I also feel like cr and dr work better separately

To get max daily dye i need like make 2 or 3 runs around each area so at first if im short on time i get only dye
To make as much as i can in one hour
And then on second run over i collect wax along dye

specially when the dyes rotate every hour, you could be stuck at a realm for hours if you spend the time running around getting all the dyes from the hour on top of a cr

It's about a balance, if you candle run, do try seeking some dye to add variety to your route

And prevent the run from getting tedious

Today i was lucky to get giant plants in almost every wg area and at the end of the hour i was at forgotten ark
So i got it 2 times at once

Speaking of bird nest, i find funny how the daily "collect the green light" (yes today is the good day to mention it) is no longer as boring as before if you do dye too in the area, since the time you got all the dye the light will have landed. I really appreciate it 👌

From what i experienced until now, with dr+cr doing a realm take me around 30 min, so i do both at the end of a hour, then a second tour just after reset. I have the time to do a cr-only realm, then another dr+cr realm, and geyser and/or grandma + turle in the mix

Why make a small part of a cosmetic dyable?
Isn't the point of customisation to let players change the look of their cosmetics.
Setting up the mechanic and retroactively changing the older items will take time. But that said, why not say it may be done in phases or batches?
As much as having the dyeing mechanic at all is a major change. And one that is well appreciated. However, why limit so much?

Even if a cosmetic with crazy colours may make the less recognisable than the original cosmetic. Especially for newer players.
But that is not a bad thing if it means they will be able to find out about it by asking the community. And in that way also delightfully learn that they can choose their own colours as well.

Iirc they are adding the feature in batches. They are slowly rolling out which ones can be dyeable, and which ones are not (e.g. limiteds like the skyversary cape or clothing)

I reckon it was because they baked the texture into the game, so for them to slowly rehaul the mechanic of dyeable colours would be a bit of a task since let's face it, Sky is basically a dress up game with light exploration

Good to mention that sky first started out without customisation system like this so basically dyes are a complete overhaul of the textures. With the over 100+ cosmetics now in sky, it's definitely time consuming for everything. Asking for more items to be "more dyeable" may result in devs taking more time for the rework than the actual new content development

I don't think they intentionally placed it there. The more and more dye plants rotations are investigated, it seems they are coded in a way that they get some randomness of their location and some spawn rules might need an adjustment. I would recommend to #report-a-live-bug about it.

I love and enjoy customizing my cosmetics with colors, but I often find myself being frustrated while competing with other players for dye. The frequent deep calls can be disruptive, inconvenient to the eye, leading to instances where players steal dye butterflies from one another. This feels more like a race against others. This mechanism results in me avoiding player interactions more than ever before.

It would be so great, if the game could implement a feature that

• allows players to disable the light effects of nearby deep calls,
• dye butterflies could function more like wax: immune to being stolen and would not require waiting.
  I already left feedback, just some thoughts

That's SO true, you resumed everything wrong in the situation now. It's pretty impressive how this season is just going against the purpose of the game: chilling while exploring Sky's world, meeting stranger and befriend them. It's not even what devs expected for the season, it's a bit ridiculous
Yesterday after 3 tours around wasteland for dye run, i was surprised to notice I was felling less stressed in graveyard/first krill area and battlefield than in shipwreck or all other GW areas... just because the split in those 2 area is a bit different so you are almost always on your own. Which is... pretty strange because, as someone who started the game only 3 months ago, I'm still not that confident to manage krills rotations (and bugs ) and I'm always in great fear that I somehow split and someone open the temple's gate while I'm still burning the plants around (already happened to me)???

So going to Eden for the Dye is gonna be fun for a lot of sky kids that are already scared of Eden but I totally understand why they would to it. A lot of people are skipping the earlier stages so putting dye there (since black dye is currently rare) you actually need to do all all of the little challenges Eden gives you to get the dye (hopefully there won’t be some in pnr that would really be unrealistic and unnecessary hard). Not sure tho if they want to add some in orbit

I think adding dye in PNR is a bit strange and go against all the solemnity of doing it, even if it's like THE corrupted place in the game... Since dye have a reset every hour and need to be farmed (usually) more than once in a day, they would have to remove the access limit. Same for Orbit, + they have really no reason to have darkness here lore-wise

I'd argue that days of fortune will alwasy have red dye with red being seen a color of fortune. Same for days of love: Purple is the closest to pink, which most people would think of as the color of love. So we don't really have anything to go off of for style. It could change from year to year depending on the theme or it could stay one color, in which case I think it could reasonably be black (aided in part due to the lack of other events that could have black)

Same, I'm not fighting with people who see 4 other sky kids doing the butterfly emote, YET they have the urge to deepcall instead of emoting

if you dont mind doing it all solo, you can start a spirit and move locations some of them bug and "start" one in the new area
for prairie i use the butterfly since it carries across all of prairie except peaks
