Somehow I thought that candle bonanza meant I won't have to do just every single thing, and still be able to get the 20 candles, but the meter didn't even turn gray.
Is there a place with amounts of wax needed for subsequent candles? I know it changes, but I don't know the exact amounts needed.

You'd need to buy some from the realm of sky. Some are from past season, some are from events

For plushie, you can get crab and manta plush in repository of refuge (remembrance area)

if you go to aviary village (if you have it unlocked), there's a spirit outside one of the buildings with a green cape :) go inside and you can teleport there, but it's also available to get to Prairie Peaks via an area in Daylight Prairie

So I've read. Well, maybe I'll try this before my kids get up, so I can actually run for an hour (that said, I bet they will get up in the next 15 minutes )

If you want to go manually then you have to go to Prarie's butterfly fields and turn left, open spirit gate and head towards Prarie cave. At the entrance of the cave take another left and enter that den-kinda space and get on the boat! It'll take you to the referred area I.e Prarie peaks.
Or you can go to aviary village and go inside the first house on the left and tp to the area by sitting on the meditation shrine before seasonal spirit

but again, these capes especially the white one will most definitely return next year so unless you have a bunch of money on hand i'd suggest you wait
