I though shards would be in the bright high clearing in forest - many people left performance candles and many messages seemed to imply it’s a tough on today. But it never fell there for me, it fell in the second last section with the bridges. And it was a dark shard AND didn’t give any light at all

Sunset starts at 50 minutes after reset and runs for ten minutes, repeating every two hours. When it is time for sunset, the sky in sanctuary will darken and turn red as the sun moves to hover on the horizon.
During these ten minutes, a little under a dozen clams will appear in and around the underwater trench in-between the far archipelago in Sanctuary and the jellyfish whisperer's cave. There is also a turtle that swims in this area, and right after sunset starts (or it might take a moment longer, depending on server), it will surface with a ton of dark plants on its back. Once these plants are burned, it will release a ton of wax and a huge clam will appear on the beach of the largest archipelago island. This event can only be done once per day.
Right now, however, there is a bug that is causing clams and flower bouquets to disappear after collecting one in the vicinity, so it's not quite as useful for wax collection atm, though you can still reliably grab the wax from the turtle's dark plant and the huge clam, which is still a decent chunk for candle running :3

The geyser event is 5 minutes after reset, lasts ten minutes, and repeats every two hours. It takes place at the geyser on the far left side of Sanctuary (aka the Polluted Geyser), and includes the geyser spitting out spikey wax balls, four every minute for the duration of the event.
Granny's takes place at her table in Sunny Forest in the Hidden Forest, starting at 35 after reset, lasting ten minutes, and repeating every two hours. During this time, Granny will serve six wax dumplings every minute. She also appears five minutes before the start of serving time to walk around the table, and she will offer a hug to the player after the event is finished.

Yeah, currently the shard events for updated players (iOS and Switch) are bugged in that they don't give anyone wax after completion. If you have access to and are able to play your account on Android, I might suggest trying to complete the shard in forest brook if you really want the wax, otherwise we're just waiting on a fix from TGC
