There are tutorials for it on YouTube to make it easier for you. But one thing for you to know if there's a shard event, there are shards at the top of the realm gates that you see at Home or Aviary except Isle of Dawn.

Part 3: It also looks like we have the same horizontal flight speed with broom as we do with wings under powered flight.
Also (this might be a consequence of the faster vertical ascension rate but I'm not entirely sure) if you're flying at a highly vertical angle on the broom then eventually, after a while of not flapping, the broom will automatically disable. This doesn't tend to happen with normal wings.
