I'm back to you, I received the following information: that look like it's going to be same as the old. Like we can’t take the big outposts (like what would be bunkers and facilities) without having a part of our hive touching it. Additionally the plains opens up the gas alliance stuff so you will need to have some camps taken to obtain that and continue alliance research.
You can just take outposts without being connected to anything by the way
