I usually pick one during the season myself and try to rank really well. I prefer SvS prep over SotF in the final stage of MIGO. I don’t like the limitations SotF has.

I think how important it is depends on your role in events. Rally leaders need all that stuff to successfully set up against other rally leaders. They’ll inevitably going to set against someone who has worked on it or has it maxed even. Joiners/f2p can work on the formation system stuff in general as you have the materials and find events that give points to do so.

I have a f2p account and it gets those upgrades as I have the materials to do so. I do look to get these crates from the different event stores. If I have extra pearls on a Monday or Friday during SvS prep or SotF, I have bought those formation system stuff crates from the pearl store before if there wasn’t anything that I needed more dire. (I like spending a few pearls if I have them to get some extra points.) If you aren’t a rally leader, I wouldn’t make it your main focus if there is something you need more importantly but work on this as you can.
