ok I'm not going to be salty about this because if she gets a deluxe then so be it (also 3/4 of her new TennoGen skins are aboslutely incredible and I can't wait until part 2 for Wisp Zamariu), she gotta get one at some point anyway BUT just because a frame is popular doesn't mean it's a good idea to basically oversaturate the market in one go because that might end up making future releases for that frame feel less special.

that's my take on the situation

I don't want a skin because a frame is popular, I want a skin because it looks good. In wisps case I'm just lucky that these two overlap

now I don't know why exactly Gauss Zamariu got rejected and I won't assume anything that I don't know for sure but when looking at certain reddit posts where people ask questions like what the favourite frames of people are either gameplay wise or fashion wise or literally anything I can be sure as hell to find Gauss somewhere in there for pretty much any reason and yet we didn't get Gauss Zamariu and I'm sure people would have paid for that one.
(I would totally understand if DE said they have issues with it quality wise or don't want to accept two skins from the same skin family even though two skins from the same artist is generally a cool thing).

again, I'm not salty about this, I'm just trying to convey why I can fully understand why many players are not all too happy with four skins being released for one Warframe.

Mhm! If you see glam items in the market that have a little Blue Diamond within the picture, it's a Tennogen item that someone, or a group of folks, made. They tend to cost a specific amount and cannot be reduced via discounts and the like but they're pretty neat! My personal favorite so far has been the 'Graxx' line of skins for various Warframes

Well there's the Steam Workshop that has every TennoGen submission ever be they accepted, pending for next round or disqualified. You can also check the forums for posts about what TennoGen pieces got accepted in each round.

And if you just want to see all accepted items you can check the ingame market and look for the TennoGen tab. It might not have all items on console tho.

I've been working on these designs for a while I call the line Vocus particularly angled around cloaked mystery looks, I think it works best on limbo but Xaku can probably pull it off

For limbo at least the idea was to have the cloak drape over the front for a light shadow and have it drape down the left shoulder

I've been playing limbo since day 1, and the way I've come to view him would be a sort of prowling assassin, which I decided would be a good look for a lot of frames

I went for a gas mask sort of look for the helmet with a single eye hole at first I wanted to cloak the whole body but realized how lazy that would look so I instead went for a half cloak

In my context quite a number of TG creators aren't industry professionals, but just people who had found free time to study the craft and dedicate it to create the content for everyone to enjoy; inherently implying that the person can also become one in the long run

While "wishing for content" in the chat meant for creators of that specific content is like coming to an Italian restaurant, stating "I wish there was more variety of pasta" (not a perfect analogy but works under the context)

In my suggestion, instead, the "change" is something more tangible like a creative concept of the skin, which helps to push the idea forward, open up some discussion around it, and give the creators a greater incentive to make it happen

I'm personally not a fan of suggesting to do something yourself when it comes to creative work. You can feel inspired but that alone doesn't fabricate good work. A wish as simple as "I wish there was more of X", especially in relation to something as "niche" as the Kuvael skin line, doesn't exactly justify learning all those things if you're not really enthusiastic about it.

quick heads up for Garuda Prime for those who have TennoGen for her:

Garuda Prime comes with the Prime Toggle for TennoGen, but her Talons will not take custom TennoGen textures due to the base model being too different. This will not affect the player's ability to customize her tints, they'll simply be using the Garuda Prime Talon textures. Regular Garuda will still have the ability to use custom TennoGen Talon textures without issue.

If you're trying to equip your TennoGen on your new Garuda Prime and notice her Talons are still using the Prime textures, this is why. Not a bug!

One thing that kinda kills me about some Warframe designs is that for a good chunk of them have destinctive body designs, like Hildryn, Grendel, Saryn, even Mesa, Vauban, etc. so you can generally tell what Warframe someone is using regardless if the helmet they're wearing looks nothing like the Warframe's base helmet.
However for base Excalibur, there's almost nothing from his base body that differentiates him from other frames, his body type is literally just "default male" lol

Tennogen skins don't need to fit the idea of what the original is, they just often do because it's easier to get inspiration from the original since you're working on it.

I don't personally know myself, but a decent indicator of the "difficulty" of designing and creating a tennogen skin for a warframe I've found myself is how detailed and intricate their physical model is and/or if it has one or more changing or moving parts, such as Gauss's engine parts around his body or Grendel's opening belly.
These things aren't super exact indicators, but they are a good litmus test to gauge how challenging a certain frame could be to make a skin for.

I think that was more of a one time exception that only worked because Faven made a sort of 2.0 helmet for his Excal Graxx skin. The original helmet was only a reskin of the default helmet anyway so that probably played a role too.

I was actually having conversations with the other artists early on expressing my frustration in learning 3D, because I am an intutive learner and usually pick stuff up really quick. But there are some specific challanges and things you need to learn when it comes to 3D. So if anyone tries to dip their toe in the water, do not give up.

I agree that this is the morally correct thing to do and that there is a reason why Yatus' stuff made it in-game but I'm not even going to try and take the moral high ground because I can't.

There are too many things I think are wrong with his work and even Yatus himself that elaborating my view on those things just takes too much time. Of course I understand that people don't have the same infos and experience I do most of the time so they just see a random dude hate talk Yatus' work for seemingly no reason but that isn't true. I talked about them so many times already that I kind of gave up diving into the topic more and more after each time.

However I would like to still provide some of my reasons:

• I know this is an old topic but the suicide threat he gave DE so they would accept his work into the game alone is bad enough. What bothers me more though, is the fact that there has never been a real apology, I checked. All there really is is a comment on reddit where Yatus basically only talks about how cringe he finds his younger self but that's hardly an apology for his threat or even the fact he used the money he got from another TennoGen artist (iirc it was Faven) to buy some competent hardware instead of using it for college like he promised. This was years ago and shouldn't be taken into account every time he does anything but the lack of apologies is bothering.

• Some of his very early works have indeed been straight up ripoffs of models from other franchises while the stuff that got accepted more recently have been "better" (for a lack of a better term) in that regard but still aren't nowhere near as good as they should be. That isn't to say that skins and helmets inspired by other franchises is bad thing in general, Rekkou did it excellently with his Volt Arrester helmet, but Yatus' appriach with how often he did that is almost pathetic.

• The next point is about Saryn Ion but applies to other Ion skins aswell to some degree. The way Ion is designed (be it intentional or not) makes it almost impossible to use with other skins. The colour channels are completely misproportioned with one channel literally not even existing. Saryn has this blob thing on her right thigh that so far every TennoGen artists found a way to incorporate into their design, Yatus just straight up ignored it and forced a texture on it. I have an image comparison on my PC that I can't acess right now that demonstrates what I mean perfectly. But all in all these things, at least to me, are all reasons why I would consider Saryn Ion a disaster.

• In my eyes I feel like Yatus makes barely any progress in terms of quality on his work. Which is surprising for how often he uploads and reworks stuff in the workshop. His textures still have horrid mushy edges that look like as if he made a high res texture first, rescaled it in the worst way possible and then saved it as a jpg. You'd expect at least some sort of improvement considering just how long Yatus has been a TennoGen creator. It often seems like he is simply throwing TennoGen at the wall to see what sticks, but it rarely sticks.

In my defense, I'm a learned product design assistent and while I would under no circumstance call myself a professional I still know enough about the general design process to understand the struggle TennoGen creators go through in order to get their work to a point where both they and DE are happy with it and accept it. Designing stuff is by no means an easy task with all the layers of work required until you have a finished product. Whenever I see Yatus upload to the workshop I look at his work and can't help but think Yatus doesn't understand what it actually means to design. I'm not trying to gatekeep tho, design knowledge is by no means required to make great TennoGen but in the specific case of Yatus it would certainly help.

I guess my only real response is that DE only accepts what they deem ready for the game, in both design and technical aspects, so if you feel there needs to he a higher technical ceiling for tennogen items to be eligible, that is a fair concern. At the end of the day DE evaluated the ION skins in-game, Saryn included, and decided they were game ready (design and technical). My original point was to not post stuff without providing constructive criticism, and I think that still holds, regardless of how you view a particular artist. I think you did a fair job pointing out your concerns above, and thank you for keeping this interaction civil.

look at it this way: Valkyr Deluxe was announced roughly last August and wasn't improved upon until the model reveal in January

I think that's because deluxe skins are more of a side thing, while they are occupied on working with models for bigger content updates.

Which is also probably why tennogen takes very long to release. When they have more time, that's what they work on i think
