This is a really home friendly feeling and I love how dark it is without being too dark to see. I would suggest lowering the opacity on your glow as the framing around the panes of glass probably would be more mute. Also, it looks like you have a fence right outside the house. Perhaps give that a dark shade to be a shadow as it wouldn't be affected as much from the inside light. I really do like your work and it makes me miss my family's ranch!

7 has a major contrast issue. was it intended? apart from that, the only difference here is color and it is more up to you which color you choose to represent you. In this collection it is obvious that colored ones will attract more attention but for design brand I would go with more b&w logo so you can use it anywhere without having to worry about contrast with your work

The student plan is $19.99/month for the first year for all creative cloud apps (Photoshop, Lightroom, XD, etc) and then its $29.99/month. In my opinion, that's not such a bad deal. You can try saving money in other places (ex: buy a few less coffees during the month) and use that money towards a subscription.

From the Adobe website, (https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html?promoid=XT3PH4HC&mv=other) the cheapest plan seems to be the Photography plan, which includes Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop on desktop and iPad, and 20GB of cloud storage, all for $9.99/month. I don't know that much about cloud storage, and if it's used by Photoshop in ways other than just storing files, (like maybe brushes and fonts you add to Photoshop use cloud storage?) but that might be a good option for you to look into.
Additionally, there might be coupons or deals to get discounts on subscription plans. Try a browser extension, such as Honey, Rakuten, or CapitalOne Shopping to help you find deals and coupons on items. I'm not sure if Adobe offers discounts through coupons, etc., but it doesn't hurt to try. Good luck!

adobe cloud storage can be used to store your project files and photoshop supports working directly on the files in the cloud. Except from that it works like a regular cloud where you can put anything. It's definitely useful when working on iPad or moving around without taking your external storage

btw brushes are stored locally and fonts are tied to your account so they are downloaded when you activate them

Today I found out I have never used the line tool and it's not as intuitive as you would hope. Just tryign to set the width had me angry until i figured out "weight" means width and the thing where you set what looks like the width of the line is actually the stroke of the line ... 🤔

I was messing around with that gradient map technique from the May/June DCC and I found a workaround for lighter backgrounds/images.

If you convert the gradient map to a smart object and then do the technique against a dark screen layer inside that smart object you can achieve basically the same effect on something that is lighter when you clip the gradient map to it.

but won't a smart object with nothing but an adjustment layer in it be just an empty layer? inside the gradient map properties you have regular gradient editor where you can adjust step location to the luminosity

You put a black screen layer underneath the gradient map inside the smart object.

honestly here to learn more about tools I don't use and came here through a Creative Challenge video I found after searching for "how do I do this"

I basically knew nothing about Photoshop or Illustrator at all but I did all the tutorials for both in about six or seven weeks and it helped me out a lot.

Since then I’ve learned a lot more through the DCC’s and trial and error, but having that solid foundation was extremely helpful for me.

I made mobile app icons in illustrator for about a year and done photoshop all the time for website content.
Only quick edits though.
Outside of that, since I had a free license, I fiddled with it for fun, but never really done a straight up tutorial.
Most things I learned on the fly or from short how-to's

There are 100+ Creative Cloud Photoshop tutorials and around the same number of Illustrator ones. For those first six or seven weeks I spent 12-16 hours a day in Photoshop and Illustrator. I went through all Photoshop ones first and tackled the Illustrator ones second. Then I spent about a month learning the basics of Lightroom on my own. There is significant overlap between the Camera Raw UI and Lightroom’s UI. I haven’t actually done any of the Lightroom tutorials. I’ve considered doing them and I may get around to it, but I already use Lightroom on a daily basis and have a strong enough foundation it hasn’t been on the top of my priority list.

I still put in a solid six hours a day and usually have at least one 12+ hour day a week.

I realized earlier today that you don’t even need the lighten layer for that modified version. If you ctrl click the paint layer and then mask out the rest of the black screen layer then you can apply any blend mode you want.

yes, it didn't work. My coworkers have the same issue. Strange because few weeks back I downloaded brushes with no problems and now it asks me to sign in when I already am

That's odd, @thorn solar, because I made a test here and it happened the same thing with the e-mail of the company I work, then I logged in with my personal account that I have a subscription too and it worked. I hope this will be fixed soon

this is going to be a physical poster put up at universities

I'd make sure it's A4 if you're going to be printing it.
Other than that I think it's pretty decent looking.
btw, if you make it A4 portrait, you can perhaps fit some more text in the box by rotating it.
You will loose some of the background though
