What I did was take my finished image and put all the images created into a "Timeline" and then animate it to run for 5 sec. "forever".

I would like to thank all the instructors,, mentors, moderators, Adobe individuals and those behind the scenes for this wonderful gift you have given us. I have used Photoshop off and on since Photoshop 5.5 and never really kept up to date with the new features. I began taking the challenges last year with Kathleen and was hooked. This format gives me a reason to learn new things and a place to put them. Everyday I am excited to say I learn at least one new thing and continue to play after the lesson. Once again thanks for a good thing and offering it for free. I would especially like to recognize @whole fractal @blazing vector and @meager plinth for all of their comments on my images and others. They continue to amaze me with their knowledge.

@meager plinth personally, I really hate the way Ps does shadows using FX. BUT, having Jesus show doing the create layers trick so I can make an actual useable shadow has saved me going into Corel to do all my shadows. Which is how I did it before. Corel does a better job with more control LOL (and they give you the option to automatically put on a separate layer.

I went to art school online and graduated and used several adobe apps. While I know some to a lot of what is going on with most DCC from day to day I treat this like school. I even treat the non DCC streams I watch as such. I asked my psych doc and counselors if they would agree and they said yes.

@lunar summit it's looking very nice! It seems like the background where you painted is out of focus, like a depth of field effect which helps a lot to be realistic. One thing that you can do is to try to add some very subtle noise to the painted part, to give it like a texture. You can also play with some different tones so it won't look like it its just one color and create kind of a transition of tones. Like this part where it reveals that the background was painted.
Maybe change the 'height' of the turtle and Coral to be higher in the image

@copper sun @lavish tide the info from PSP is false. That won’t change the size of the image whatsoever for printing. All that does what they suggest is lower the quality of the actual image.
Plus, it’s the options of the printing person to decide what size and how they’re going to print it. They have the option to resize to page, print it 50% if it’s size etc and all this depends on their printing software AND their knowledge of it.

Digital Painting can be used in a portfolio for Concept Art and Illustration. It's more of a technique/medium then it's own "thing". If that makes sense?
Illustrations can be use, and are often used, in concept art, but Concept art itself is very specific to a product. Like Games, Movies, etc.
Illustrations can also be things like, book illustrations for children's stories. Illustrations for magazines, book covers, or in some cases informational graphics can be counted as a form of illustration.

You're welcome @limpid canyon - I've been thinking about the other part of your question. The titles, they are trickier, only because many companies have different ideas of what they involve. Product Design differs more depending on the industry.
Graphic Design, normally involves printed artwork, printed marketing materials, banners, ads, anything used by a business that involves imagery. But some Graphic Designers are also hired to upkeep the look and feel of a company's website too. This tends to happen with smaller companies.
Some Graphic Designers also do game graphics, for board games, card games, etc.
Some might do flat video game designs as well.
Industrial Design - I'd have to do a little more research on it. But based on my experience it is the physical creating of objects. Clay Car models, move FX makeup and costumes, Physical prototypes of items, etc...
Product design - again varies based on industry. I've been to an interview where the product design position was specifically for designing new packaging for various products - from makeup to razors. The company also focused on improving product design itself, in regards to the razors, and re-making the look and physical feel of the product and how people use it.
Other Product design, in the IT fields, usually (but not always) involve applications, software, sometimes hardware design and improvement. Design and improvement of external items, like headphones for gamers, or mouse pads, or screen protectors.
The "Product" in Product design, is key, and is based on that specific industry.
However! This is where it gets confusing. I've seen job board offers that stat "Product Designer" in an automotive industry, but they wanted a web designer. I am not sure if that was an error or not.

@midnight coyote I see the point you're making and if there is an intention to create I guess there is a truth to it but, to be serious for a moment, I see myself more as a technician than an artist a lot of the time and that is ok. To spin the point more positively perhaps, I really enjoy looking at other people's work here and learning from what I see and appreciating it. It does annoy me that the new Photshop Camera app is only compatible with a relatively small number of phones. Most android apps that are released work on all phones from the start. I would have thought a company as big, and technically savvy as Adobe are would been able to get things right first time. The number of extra customers would be massive.

Hey all, apart from the online storage thingy in the current CC subcription fee, is there any other reason to switch from single time purchace to subcription model
@jagged island PS was usually around $800 the first year and then the upgrades were running around $600 a year. for only $10/month = $120 a year, you always have the latest. And you get several programs with that. BR, LRC, LRCC, Cr, Capture, and I think another one or two that aren't compatible with my computer so I tend to forget about them.
And the fonts. They are licensed for you to use for anything and are available to you in all your major programs. That is HUGE.
The free online storage is such a small amount as to not count. All I have is what I have done in capture and I have used up almost all the free space. It isn't much at all

@iron arch Re: the comment you made in the stream yesterday about losing brushes; we have an existing bug where "Reverting Photoshop versions using the "Other Versions" flow via Creative Cloud app removes brushes, preferences, and other user customizable files."
We've heard a few say this happens via upgrade as well but we haven't been able to reproduce this but suspect that there may be some other software that blocks part of the installer script preventing migration of those prefs/presets.

@lone wave I am not sure what was the problem. It started with my gradients disappearing. I had the max number. Finally found how to delete all and start over. Spent 3 days sorting and deleting. Then poof all gone. This happened 3 times before they stayed put the way I did them. Then my brushes just went poof. I have reinstalled and sorted 5x now. Personally, I was beginning to suspect AVG. I have dumped them and installed TotalAV pro. CC was really a mess on my puter. In task man I would see many copies running all the time. And as soon as I deleted one, another would pop up. Several sub programs.
I was able (finally) to get every single Adobe product uninstalled and started over. I am not having as many problems now. No more multiple instances running in background, no more weird messages about a program I didn't even have installed. And the latest PS is now running mostly ok. No more double images on layers. No more turning off layers and still seeing them. But am getting an error message on every load. And it stops cold until I answer it.
so funny it is like it is saying "hey I got a problem. Just letting you know aobut it. Nothing you can do and I doubt that this message is meaningful so if you just click that you got it, then we can both get on with our lives." LOL
Wonder if the path isn't there any more. I'll check preferences.
Yup path no longer correct. You know the error message could have just said that! you know, "path not found" would have worked just fine and been less cryptic 🙂
I'll work on the brushes over the weekend and let you know if changing the anti virus made a difference in them staying put.

no. Corel has huge memory leak problems so was very unhappy when CC started multiple instances. Scans are clean but AVG was giving me tons of pop up offers and such. part of the reason I suspected it.

@lone wave more info for you on brush problem. I have been going through all my bush files again and sorting into groups and deleting the ones I'll never use. I thought I should "export" the sorted groups in case I need to add them in yet again. I found only some could be exported. That option was grayed out on many. So I went looking in explorer. I found this:
Grut brushes are a set that I got and that disappeared from my brushes panel. But you can see they are still here in the path.

Not been able to do Paul's challenges this week. Have flown from Cyprus to UK to clear our house in Kent as we are selling it and the sale is nearly complete. Heatwave in Cyprus again 47 degrees Celsius which is about 117 degrees Fahrenheit. UK is a lot cooler about 20 degrees Celsius today. Hopefully will try and catch up with the challenges at some point

Hi, @dawn creek I've been watching some of the previous challenges. In your 21 April 2020 stream about the pen tool, when you switched over to your iPad - what cover are you using on your iPad? In the quick glance I caught, it looked like the cover had a spot for the Apple Pencil. I have a cover, but there's no spot for the pencil , so I worry about my pencil taking a walkabout on its own.

@meager plinth Would another great way to add highlights due to colour lighting etc, be to clip a colour fill on the layer, change it to "colour" and then separate the "blend if" "underlying layer" black, having half at either side/adjusted to the best suited location?

@spring matrix Hmmm, I haven't tried that really. You can give it a shot and see if it has the effect you're going for. Are you trying to get more of a glow effect? I often like to use color dodge or screen layers for glow, or even a masked levels adjustment from time to time depending on the situation.

@meager plinth I'm talking more about this type of thing. Usually to add highlights I would just make an inverse mask and paint the colour back/on, but I have found this to be much easier, essentially applying the fill colour to only the white areas, the areas that aren't shaded, which overall look better in my opinion. Obviously there are a million and one different ways to produce the same style in Photoshop.
Could I also seek your professional opinion on my latest project. Suggestions, thoughts, questions, epiphanies? Thanks!
