Also, if that text is outside (street sign etc) you can use the capture app on your phone. It's the same than the capture feature in Photoshop which basically does the same thing than the type>match font option (which is relatively new)
but also does other things (like vectorise artworks, useful if you don't have illustrator)

You look at the Recommended System Requirements for each software and figure out if your system meets the requirements to run it effectively. You do not look at version numbers and try to figure out which one runs on your low-end PC.

Thus, my answer would be "none." They're graphics-heavy, resource-intensive apps. Get a computer that can handle the software.

If a PC doesn't meet the recommended requirements, you're likely to have problems working with the app.

This ends up costing you more time. In business, time is money. Time lost is money lost. So is it better to lose the time struggling with poor hardware? Or is it better to invest in equipment that saves you time? Each person has to decide that for themselves and their situation.

In other words, if you can produce work with faster turn-around, your hourly rate goes up. heh

If I understand begginner photography stuff I've skimmed it's that the difference between phone cameras and real ones is that you can take RAW pictures that allow for better editing than limited JPEG's? It's wild to me because I always assumed the main point was less editing lol

Phones can capture RAW pixel data too.

One difference is the size of the sensor inside. And the size of the image that can be captured/stored. Camera bodies have other advantages too, like the ability to change lenses, different timers for time-lapses, direct computer to exposure access from software. Lots of things, I suppose.

There are TONS for free tutorials out there you can Google.

My 2 cents, if you are new and wanting to learn how to make AWESOME thumbnails for YouTube, use ChatGPT. Besides being FREE, it is GREAT and much faster/easier than learning Photoshop. IF you like it, you can always upgrade to a paid plan.

I doubt it. Adobe delivers professional-grade apps and services to meet the needs of people working in the creative fields. They offer EDU licenses and pricing for people who are learning. Software engineering teams, support staff, data centers are expensive. I wouldn't hold my breath for free or one-shot pricing for an old style installer any time time soon. If people want that sort of thing, they can certainly voice their opinions to Adobe Customer Care.

I'm not an attorney but I'm a student of Common Sense. That app probably violates any number of intellectual property laws by exactly copying Photoshop in 100 different ways. I'm surprised Adobe legal hasn't gone after them, to be honest.

That only strengthens my "conspiracy" that PS is behind it or that they see reason to allow it. When I was initially introduced to the magic of editing beyond MS paint with GIMP, the upgrade to PS was just as magical. I'd imagine that some people that use Photopea and get really into it have their mouths drop like a cartoon guy seeing a pretty girl when they eventually see what PS can do lol. Recent crazy updates aside, I think the powerful selection tools are enough to make PS appealing.

its probably because they aren't seen as a competitor, going after stuff like Photopea will only draw attention to it and give them more users and a platform. to adobe, its not worth it, especially when you're already a monopoly and the industry standard.

I'm going to hold my ground because it's parallel to my own experience. How else are everyday people going to get into editing in the first place if there wasn't things like Photopea out there? Or people getting into graphic design before they decide to go to graphic design school.

I do wish there was though.

They technically do have competition with GIMP, Affinity, Krita and Canva and others but the competition is in the dust because I think they obviously use their resources from their subscribers to continuously improve. I only know of competition other than GIMP cause of thumnails that have people with their mouths open saying "I ditched PS for Canva/Krita/Affinity" that I never click but I'm always spoonfed in my feed. Like there's not some evil guy laughing on a money stack behind Adobe like people like to act like. Again I could be wrong, but I'm not.

There are some competitors who also have features, workflow, or collaborative tools that adobe lacks, but they still don't cover the complete set of things that people coming off from adobe need.

I frequently wish that they had laptops that by themselves had average laptop specs like integrated graphics but then you can take it home and dock it somehow maybe with USB or something better to connect it to external stuff like a real graphics card and use it with a monitor as a desktop with desktop specs. It's really easy. I sometimes use it to combine Photoshop and Blender. I create the model in Blender and then transfer it to Photoshop for editing.

Hue/saturation adjustment layer did it for future reference. I selected the color range by using the droplet on the hue/saturation properties window to select the blue

You can set it up so you can basically paint blur werever you want by using a blur layer, mask it/invert it then paint it in with the white brush. Which is simple once you learn to make a layer mask and invert it.

Btw, what you call png is the transparency checkerboard. It looks like you got a fake transparent png.
