Hi, Photoshop does not do it. Somehow it is not closed properly and does not have the time to save all its preferences files. You could copy Photoshop’s preferences manually by dragging the preferences folder to the desktop. If you are very new, the best bet is for you to first learn the basics properly (You'll see ithelps a lot!)
For that, the best way is to go to Help>hands-on tutorials and select "beginner in the drop down menu.
If you already know the interface, you can skip that, but the rest is really worth checking.
You might find a solution to your problem by tying it in the search bar and having an in-app tutorial delivered right into Photoshop!

not sure if this is a joke. But that's a scam that's been going on for over 20 years on eBay. They use software to edit what the drive properties are, so windows thinks that's how much space there is. Likely it's 1/40th of that and as soon as you write more than the real capacity is then it will corrupt everything on the drive. Just copy a bunch of files to it and you'll see.

If you can afford a Wacom (or any) tablet I 110% say go for it. I'd recomend getting one that is 8000 units or more of sensitivity but my standard intuous with 4000 has served me well only leaving me mildly wanting the 8000.

I have a 2017 intuos L and after 5 years of using it, I only just now realised you can use touch/your fingers to use it. 😆 ... like a giant touchpad

I have to say the gestures you can do (and setting up different keystroke and actions for them) are pretty damn cool.
But... do you find them super responsive or is my tablet a little bit unresponsive due to it's age and being beat up a little bit? Sometimes the gestures don't register and there's a bit of latency (like when selecting stuff) compared to selecting with a mouse...

That error usually happens because of a font cache issue. Try closing Photoshop, then delete the AdobeFnt.lst files from your system, and reopen.

The only thing I see is the banding which might be because the bit depth used in the video is bigger than yours

Maybe they are in 16 bits and you are in 8 bits?

Maybe it's the colour profile that is more constrained in the png than the video (I'm not an expert in video formats)

generally you can get rid of banding (as well as moires) by introducing a bit of noise (Filter> Noise > add noise) on the image to break the effect. You don't necessarily need lots, it's a bit of a trial and error

normally a clipping mask takes all the pixels that aren't present in the layer below and discards them but i need to do that for the layer above, and just selecting the pixels and deleting them doesn't seem to work for whatever reason

In case you don't get a better answer you can use a blur filter (my recommendation would be gaussian) and then use a mask so only the part you want is blurred. But to make it better maybe a some other kind of blue like motion or that glass distort. And playing with blend modes/opacity is always something to think about.

I would use the lasso tool, feather the edges, copy the starburst, play with levels to make the blacks darker then use with a blend mode such as multiply or the blend of sliders to remove the dark areas.

That's a case when there is so much of that background in there that no amount of automatic tools will help.
You will need to mask that either with a vector mask, using the vector tools, or for even better result, a very soft brush, on a standard mask.

I would have tried first using calculations first, but without holding much hope as the orange is not an even colour.

Still worth a try, even if it'sjust for learning a technique that can save your skin on other occasions.

One of the things you can do on top of that when you got a decent mask, is to desaturate the remaining orange to match the colour closer to the rest of the wings, so the effect will be more realistic

Check Alpha Channel: If an Alpha channel is active, try removing it. Go to the Channels panel and see if any alpha channel is selected. Deselect it or delete it if it’s not needed.

yeah i think that issue was caused by the calculations thing i was trying to do

somebody said it could help getting a better mask

but the problem is that i wouldn't be able to work with a mask, i'd need dark magic

the wings would have to have their orange tint removed

select and mask just doesn't know what it's looking at, and gets rid of all the wings

the background eraser tool actually produces a pretty good result but the wings are very transparent, more than they should be

It's "terrible quality" because the edge of your image is rough. Thus, when you apply a stroke to it, it is picking up all of the rough edges on that shape.

@opaque temple Select by hand? With the pen tool, or with the lasso tool (I would personnally choose the pen tool, and turn the resultin path into a selection)

Despite all the automatic selections, there are still a lot of cases when you have to use manual methods, that's expected.

You can go to "help> hands-on tutorials, choose "beginner" in the drop down menu, ask check all the tutorials that teach you about selections.
That's part of the "starter pack" of the skills needed in Photoshop
