It is not the same colour value.
Either a colour (or layer?) has a different blend mode than ‘Normal’ or the two colours (layers?) have different transparency values.

Select the clipping path and slightly increase its size by a pixel or two

• Try Turning off anti-aliasing when creating paths or shapes if you want sharp edges.
• Make sure the path is set to “Path” mode, not “Shape” or “Mask,” unless you intend to use it as a vector shape.
  ~ If paths are causing issues, consider using Layer Masks instead of paths for clipping. Masks allow you to non-destructively hide parts of your image and can be easily adjusted without affecting the edges.

Not that I am aware of, but since people are asking for others to do it, I always assume, maybe wrongly, that they don't have Photoshop.

The features you are talking about are documented everywhere (and with their limitations)

I would have pointed them to Upscayl as well (or the enhance function in Bridge/ACR)

The only flaw in your question is what mac silicon not the OS, Because all the Macbooks run on the same updated MacOS

M2 is pretty much a good choice but depends on ur usage if u want to get a pro or air, if u are gonna do smth heavy rendering and big files in the course don't forget to get a Pro, and then again you can't go with the base models, because photoshop can sometimes use a large amount of scratch disk space, so u should take that into account...

then again u need to pick one as per ur budget as well

I can't believe how accessable/cheap used pressure sensitive drawing tablets are. If you are a frequent Photoshop user without a tablet I highly recomend getting one. No shame in saving 75% at the cost of having to wipe it with multipurpose cleaner.

Also makes a very nice gift for any birthday.
Kids, by-pass the Steam gift card and ask for a tablet instead!
Some are also able to use a phone as the "computer" (Not the cheapest ones, you'll need a screen) and they work on Android. Meaning that you can use - for -example, Lightroom mobile or any other mobile app, from your phone to a bigger screen, while you draw.

I think the idea of 'Co-Editing' is great, but it heavily depends on how it works.... which I haven't looked into.
There's been a few times over the years where I'm working on some huge PSD files, like 40GB+ and I want someone to approve/view it before I start saving it all out.

Looking at getting a portable set-up for my new in house role I've gotten. Most my work has been done from my home office on my iMac, pretty capable of handling most my work in Ps, Ai & Pr, runs 2024 versions just fine.

Thinking about just picking up a second hand m1 Macbook Air for now. How is everyones experince using the M1 Macbook Airs with lite Photoshop work. Or is it worth just biting the bullet and getting a pro even though I won't be using it all the often.

It looks too harsh and dark here. You would need to place the shadow behind the objects, and some on top of the objects. The most important things is to obverse how things look in real life.
Best thing is to recreate the image, very loosely, with a similar shape and direction of lighting and take a photo, and use this photo as a reference
Any bottle will do, any flat cylinder will do.
Note a few things:

• your objects are floating. The shadow you got is way too big (and I already said, too dark)
• the barrel should cast a shadow on the burger
• the direction of light is non descript in your background image, the shadow have a direction that doesn't correspond to the normal direction of light
  In your case, I think your shadows should be behuind the objects, and barely visible

Are you familiar with any 3D program?

See what it looks like with standard shapes, with a lighting that resembles the sun (no light direction, and a diffuse light)

It's rare to be able to create realistic shadows without some sort of references, so don't beat yourself up, that's normal. even if you don't use a 3D program, you need to take some time to observe how shadows react in real life

that's why taking photos so you can have a a reference ready to roughly copy from, is really ideal

Artists classically trained (as well as photographers obviously) will have a massive advantage over the rest of us

The ‘G’ appears to be handmade. No type designer would incorporate such abrupt transitions. The shadow border and outline could be recreated in Illustrator with a stacked appearance. The white spots cannot be ‘automated’ under any circumstances. They are also painted on by hand.

It's all good, but we still don't really know what you were trying to achieve. - e.g cropping a video down to different proportions is a quick job. A couple of minutes.
Making someone literally look 'taller' than their surroundings in a video clip is possibly **days **of work.

Illustrator is for the creation and editing of vector graphics. They are inherently "more complicated" than painting pixels onto a grid.

There is no other app that compares to Adobe Illustrator. Maybe Inkscape and that is nowhere close to the level of functionality. And I've used Illustrator and worked in computer graphics for more than 20 years..

If you've ever needed to solve a truly difficult problem with vector graphics, there is nothing else that comes close.

Level of difficulty with a particular tech is directly proportional to knowledge and experience using it.

Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects are all seemingly complicated apps. They have myriad features. You could strip them all down so they weren't so "intimidating" to new users. However, as users go from novice to experienced in various workflows, they would expect the tools to have more features, allow for more options and granular editing.

Can workflows always be refined? Of course. But these statements about difficulty are based in inexperience.

I can manage to fit the photo in regarding size and also have the phone top bezel protruding out to on older models but I'm not sure about lighting and making it seem real might be a problem

If I had the image of the chat interface, I could probably do it in a few minutes.

But my ability to do it and your ability to do it might not be comparable. I don't know your skill level. I also don't know what the acceptance criteria would be. Often compositing screenshots of GUIs tend to always look "faked." I would create an image of that GUI, put it on my phone and take a photo of my phone with that image being displayed. Then it would look "real."

Then again, that would require a lot more work. Perhaps just comp-ing a screenshot over the photo of the phone would suffice. heh

Anyways, algorithms are scanning for it as well. So even if you copied/pasted the pixels to a new file and saved it out using an old(er) export filter, a machine will evaluate it on the input side.

I would select and push the car to a new layer and then fill the background on a layer behind it.

And if it takes away too much of the shadow, you can just use a mask to bring it back using the original image.

Some of my colors for selection brush, remove tool etc might not match yours. I've changed certain things from their defaults but they still work the same way.

So after my selection when I go to masks my selection isn't there. Do you know why?

Ctrl + click on the Layer Mask. It will load up as a selection.

Then you can switch layers, expand the selection and use Gen Fill.

Try "remove car" in lowercase letters like I did. I don't know if it will matter but when I tried other methods, it did the similar things until I used that text string.

I think my method was way more complicated then what it needed to be, but I also continued the road from the left side

I usedd some clone stamping to try and actually use the road instead of AI trying to figure out how the road is supposed to look like

If you saw how I did this you'd pull some hairs out cause I tried to use different less efficent ways to get to that point, but I don't think it looks that bad

Looks like it was successful. Any workflow is valid if you get to the result you want.

Also, AI isn't all its cracked up to be. It fails a lot. Which is why its important to understand more "traditional" digital editing methods.

Most people think you just type in some words and then you go take a nap. heh

And then u can Use Blur to give it more realistic effect

I've been using style layers for text lately. However, I'm trying it on an object now, and of course, it doesn't look right (it has the wrong style), so I started searching on Creative Market and other sites.

When looking for styles for graphic objects like this (turn it more gold instead of matte white)...is it style text effects? What should I be looking for.

Layer Styles (or Effects) are tools like Bevel & Emboss, Gradient Overlay, Color Overlay, and Drop Shadow that can be applied to any layer, whether it’s text, a shape, or a graphic object.
Many pre-made styles you find online (e.g., on Creative Market) are technically just pre-configured Layer Styles.

When you’re searching for a “gold” effect for a non-text object, you want styles designed for shapes or graphics rather than specifically for text.

“Gold Layer Styles”
“Gold Photoshop Effects”
“Metallic Layer Styles”
“Gold Foil Styles”

or u can make ur own alternate for Gold

Gradient Overlay with gold tones (yellow, orange, and white highlights).
Bevel & Emboss for depth.
Inner Glow for a polished look.
You can also add textures, like gold foil images, and use blending modes like Overlay or Soft Light.

Sometimes, text effects can work on objects, but they might need tweaking:
• Scale Effects: In the Layer Style window, there’s a “Scale Effects” slider. If a text style looks wrong on an object, scaling up or down can help.
