Sometimes, it depends. It's really a case by case situation. If you are truly looking for Layer compatibility for the PSD format, it would be better off exporting your PSD as indivual layers.

also supports live link, meaning if you are running both programs at the same time, and you make adujustments in photoshop and hit save, your ae file with that PSD will update in real time @spice pollen

oh it certainly can, be warned though, AE has a STEEEEEP learning curve for certain things and it is NOT at all user friendly for beginners. If you have patience and teach yourself or through videos you are able to output some very nice things

Hi, i have tried to use photoshop however my device can not run it. i am creating a passion project game of mine. a bit like club penguin rerewritten but for another game. i am trying to use the original assets from the game however they are hard to come by so i was going to use generative fill to fill the gaps. would anyone like to help me with this? it would just be using generative fill on a few images. please message me if anyone can help thank you 🙂

heh, its an idea I got from some random pumpkin photos I saw, it had a cat candle inside so I took out the cat and then I rendered it through firefly and I got some pretty cool renditions

after you've made the stroke/shadow, etc on the yellow text, you'll want to put the stroke/shadow effects from the text on its own layer and mask the contents in that layer and then you'll paint it out by using black color to hide what you don't want

Not sure that's what you mean but you can add a stroke with your standard layer styles BUT
You can control the opacity of the shape distinctly from the opacity of the whole layer
For example make the shape (the text) invisible, but the stroke visible

you can still do that, masking part of the stroke away is one way; there's probably another

And mask the bottom with the shape of your calendar logo

the calendar logo is now sandwiched between a full text layer and a stroke only layer

It looks more ransom than just a general glow in the layer styles, so I would say simply drawing a white soft shape and add a standard purple glow around

If you blur the shape after applying the glow, you can see the effect changing dramatically

idk what size paper that is, but PS can do a contact sheet and its fairly automated, it won't look like that but you could also look into the many photo college apps but they aren't free if you want something that elaborate (hey, I didn't make these and its silly but that is what it is) there's also a good app called Qimage its expensive but can do just this exactly different squares at different sizes on any size paper and can even result to a PDF or JPG file

so, I've scoured the interwebs for good hair manipulation videos on photoshop and I just can't seem to figure out the best way, I know about doing levels/curves and turning the image into a B&W and making it as dark as possible to bring out the difference and remove excess background from the hair but this doesn't always get it all and sometimes leaves holes in the hair, etc

I'm really surprised PS still isn't 100% good with this, I'd show you but I'll have to do it on a different picture/person

upscaling generally isn't a good idea; because what's happening is you're taking existing pixels then when you make it bigger it has to fill gaps or add more pixels, so now it doesn't look great even if you do all you can to use lossless methods during editing upscaling still loses quality

and yes there's Topaz Gigapixel even that isn't perfect

yeah when you zoom almost all the way to max you're looking at it at the pixel level, its always going to look pixelated, that's normal I believe; but someone else with more knowledge like Sandrine can confirm this but that doesn't change the image quality.

There is only one rule there. 100% or nothing.
In Photoshop (different in Illustrator) an image is what looks on your screen at 100%, everything else is "attemptive display"

Things like effects, filters etc should always and only be viewed at 100%, that's how they'll look when you save the file or export it

Any other maginification amount will be an approximation (and even more so when you thave things like 16.7 %, there is a lot of margins for errors with rounded numbers)

Good approximations are 50%, 25%, 125%, 150% because the calculations tend to be exact

But rule of thumb is 100% always

I figured everything from 50-100% is fairly accurate and anything above 100% is pixels and not accurate

In a vector based software the display is recalculated as "exact" everytime so it doesn't matter much, but even with vector paths and shapes, Photoshop display is still a raster image, calculated by pixels, so the results is never 100% accurate (sometimes the difference may not be visible, but still)
Things like halftone effects, or anything that involves noise and crazy blending modes will always give you grief when you build something that you like, only to find a completely different result when you export it

And yes, it's the same for the competition (Affinity etc)

You really don't need a big one, unless you do some digital illustration or painting. For retouching A6/A5 is more than enough (and sometimes less taxing on the elbow. the bigger the area, the larger the movements)
What you need to concentrate on is
The number of levels of pressure, the bigger, the better (8000 is quite good)
Tilt function, is IMHO a must have
Make it wireless if your desk is small.

If you work a lot with shortcuts having express keys and a roller really increase the workflow

Also if you opt for an XPpen, note that buying direct nearly always get you cheaper prices (amazon tend to be more expensive than direct)

the way LR and PS see pixels are different, I know this much but maybe one of the CEs or mods can explain better

Yes, an iPad exclusive. There is an iPhone variant called pocket procreate that the company makes but without a stylus/apple pencil it's not really of much use

It its truly top tier though!

it produces some of my favorite pieces, even if you just import for additional touch-ups, the brush world for it is quite substantial as well as the effects they produce. You can even paint 3D models that you import.

You have built in tutorials within Photoshop (help> hands-on tutorials), just go directly to the "beginner" drop down menu to learn all about the menus in the top bar, then if there's anything you want to learn more in depth, just type in the function.

Also know that you don't need to concern yourself with "3D" anymore unless you're using an older version, 3D functions have been retired and now only kept at the minimum. I wouldn't even bother.
