to be honest it isn't the sharp edges all around the blurred things makes it even more unrealistic, edges must be included in the blur, i don't know what technique you used and what is the layer structure, but try something like tilt shift blur instead

I believe that app is EOL and has been discontinued. You might still be able to install it as a legacy app but there is no on-going development on it.

The time is better spent learning Photoshop (and Illustrator).

Hey y’all, I did a model photoshoot in the suburbs and am trying to edit it for the concept “being bored in the suburbs”, sort of with the vibe that the model is going insane or that she’s trapped in the suburbs matrix lol

I spoke with somebody internal to Adobe at the NEC photography conference, she was almost surprised to hear that I didn't need any generative features, because I'm taking the photographs of the thing, what I need is AI tools to do dust removal and floor cleanup, Which occupies maybe 90% of my life.

I use photoshop for illustrating complex search-and-find illustrations. (www.hoffman-illustrates.com). They have upwards to 600 layers and tend to be very large files that I save as tiff-files. I also use it to cull images from these files for use in social media I store the illustrations in dedicated libraries.

I am not an Adobe employee obviously, but I know a lot of people that don't use "complex" AI stuff to make their images. As a retoucher, most of my "big" client ask that I don't use any generativve AI in my retouches. I still use what people didn't call AI when it went out but is still tecnically AI (all the neural filters, content aware fill etc... in short all that was under the Sensei engine umbrella), but for those clients, no generative fill.
That means I might use text to images maybe one time per month for ideation, and even then if it doesn't bear fruit within - say - the first hour (which generally doesn't) then we resort to working from their shoot and composite manually (or even stock imagery if the shoot didn't take place yet)
For smaller clients where retouching budget is more scarce, then I would use generative fill to remove stuff from a background for example, expand the frame, or occasionnaly to flatten a piece of fabric, but I never used it to create whole backgrounds.
So I'm a bit surprised that what the person told you was to be taken as "adobe policy" (They would have abandonned Lightroom if that was the case)
Because in the real world, at least in my corner of the woods, AI is not the all emcompassing solution some people seem to make it.

I still retouch my stuff mostly by hand (but I have automated processes) and a good Frequency Separation split can get rid of most scrtaches (of course it's not a one click button)
Conversaly you can have a look at the "restoration" neural filter. If the scratches aren't too critical, it's actualy good

I've not looked at the restoration filter for removing, say, dust from jackets or smooth products etc - I'll take a look. Still seems like we're improvising. I do FS for floor and backdrop cleanup, but it still takes 2-3 minutes per image and, bleh. I'd rather not have to do it hundreds of times a week 😦

It doesn't work 100% of the times, but when it works, there is no further retouch. I had incredible result with removing broncolor stands in a midlle of a shoot, with the engine replacing the shadows of the stand as well and redreating the right ones

Tight-ish. At least 10/20 pixels wider around the subject, but you really need to follow the shape of the area to remove as it serves as a trigger. So you can use say - the object selection tool, and expand the selection accordingly

well if you mask the fan part and turn it in the opposite direction that covers the main fan. For the clip just get rid of the bottom clip and duplicate the top and flip it upside down and for the wire just get rid of it I think.

so heres what you would do.

you would mask the image of the person

and before that duplicate the main image

so with the mask

you would have one image with the person cut out of it

and one with just the person in the same place

using the sponge tool on the background you could get rid of the colors while the person is still in the iamge

technically like two different layers to make it work

when I paste a low sized image it looks like this

but when I confirm the paste

it becomes this

It's about the anti aliasing I think

How do I turn this off/prevent this?

I don't think that you could completely disable anti-aliasing in transformation

But you can reduce it's effect

By choosing "Nearest Neighbor" as the interpolation method in the options bar when transforming

This method preserves hard edges but i think it may result in pixelation.

this is partially a photoshop question but i want to print a design on a tshirt, do i have to remove the background

or i can print it with the background and when printing it would remove it

You'll need to remove the background first... - although that said... if the background is just solid white, many printers can't print with white ink anyway so it may not matter.

....it will be dependant on the image, the print method, and the colour of the t-shirt! 🙂

oh its a white background on the image on a dark shirt, so i think its preferable to remove background

Kinda depends on how it's being printed. - but yeah, it's probably just best practice to remove it.
