They're very different in how they handle artwork and what their intent is for. Photoshop is for raster (pixel-based) artwork vs Illustrator is for vector artwork. Photoshop is better suited for things like editing photos and mockups or creating raster imagery and composites. Illustrator is for vector artwork, things where it needs basically infinite resolution. Things like logos, icons, and typography.

You would use Illustrator to create a brand design, but Photoshop to edit a mockup of the branded T-shirt.

Right-click on the Layer, and in the context menu choose: Create Clipping Mask... or Remove Clipping Mask, if its already there.

You can also hold the ALT key, hover your cursor over the line between the layers, the icon will appear and then you can click to create or remove the Clipping Mask.

You will need to find those tyres with the right angle, and then mask the old ones, place the new ones on top, and retouch the scene so it integrates with the right lighting and shadows on the ground, and also shadows of the body onto the tyres.
If I had to do iit as a commercial project, I would probably build the tyres in 3D, in a 3D software (so I can position them the right way accurately, and also mimick the right lighting and shadows). And then composite the tyres I created (or downloaded the models if the exist already done, import the ready made models into the 3D software and follow along the same workflow)

alternatively, you can try the AI generative fill, just select the tyres and try to prompt what you'd want to replace the selected areas with. You might get interesting results

If you happen to find the right tyres, at the right angle with the right lighting, even from another car, then you can ditch the 3D part, and just select the tyres from the new image and put them to the old image. For example if you took the image yourself and have the possibility to shoot the new tyres in the same conditions then why not?

It's quite a challenging project to be honest...At least the bit that deals with finding the right tyres to composite them in. The composite part proper can be dealt with with a bit of elbow grease (not for a total beginner, but with someone with a bit of skills, that's possible)

I love these questions. Something like that. Its approx. 50% knowing how to use machine learning and 50% image editing skills to composite the generated pixels.

If you have the person separated from the background and a new background layer added, you can work to match the two elements together through Harmonization and Adjustment Layers. This is image compositing, in a nutshell. :)

However, you'd want to use a background that matches the perspective. Its a lot easier to adjust the lighting, contrast than it is to match completely different image perspective.

Its not all "A.I." and people continually make that mistake. Creating great images still requires artistic sensibilities and technical skills, like the ability to edit pixels with tools like Photoshop and vector graphics with tools like Illustrator. :)

Machine Learning and generative algorithms are just additional tools in the toolbox of the experienced CG and VFX artist.

the quickest way would be to select the crop tool (see the one that is highlighted in my screenshot) and choose 4:5 in the drop down list of preset

"quality" might mean different things depending of what your image is for: Printing, displaying on a screen etc. But basically in most usual situations, we are looking for:
Pixel count: the amount of pixels in the image, natively (as in not enhaanced electronically by upscaling the image)

At this point: We do not care about the resolution, only the pixel count counts 🙂

If all 3 images are the same pixel count: are they all sharp? Are some sharper than others? A real, natural sharpness ids difficult to obtain from post processing, so the the sharpest the better. There are actually tools to check that, although I never used any of them,
If you want to check by yourself always look at them at 100% magnification, if they're digital files. (not more and not less, as Photoshop displays the "real" state of the pixels at 100% all the rest is an approximation)

Then at the end there is colour. Colour is probably the easiest part to sort out in Photoshop, so unless one of them is heavily deteriorated I won't worry too much

If you want to expand further about what you need to do with the photos? (maybe they're actual prints you want to scan? In that case, you will be looking for other stuff, for example having to best scanner you can afford and setting it up correctly)
Also if the images have some sort of default (silvering, paper texture etc) then some are easiest to remove than others so it could be a consideration as well.

The tank can easily deleted by "generative Fill" in Photoshop. That has shown here.
As James stated it is not really clear what exactly should be the product, but I assume its the container. So I would try to search for Tutorials like "Photoshop Image to Drawing" or "Image to 3D Art" or something like that, then learn from those Tutorials and look what best fits for your needs.
From Experience I will say you maybe also want to clean up the Photo itself or do some better product photo with more consistend Lighting, etc. so the result also will get a bit better.

Off the top of my head, if you don't have anyone else to call on, and you don't know how to use any *proper *3D software I guess you could download sketchup 2017 (Which I think is still free) and mock it up, them trace it to get the right sort of style?

But if I were you, and this was a commercial project, - I'd find a 3D freelancer. They could EASILY kock something up like this really quickly for you. It;s more cost effective than you wasting the whole day trying to solve it.

Hi All 🙂 Happy Friday. So I don't have any PS knowledge, but I would like to help a friend. My friend's husband is apparently cheating her, but she does not have any evidence to confront him. The girl he is parallelly together with has recently published a photo on instagram where she is on a date with a guy. She applied multiple filters on the photo, so that the guy's face cannot be visible. achieving the exact same look will be difficult as these look hand-made. instead, you could find a brush stroke font and apply effects to it. I can see a slight red outside glow and inside the text is a duotone image of some scene

The lasso tool is a too to make selections. I doubt they are using it to actually draw the calligraphic shapes (but it could be possible, although extremely bizarre)

That depends what there is to be done. Generally speaking (for interiors at least) photographers take a series of "bracketted" images of the same scene so the retoucher can stack them to make the lighting even, like the viewer can see what's outside the window, and also inside the house at the same time (without that, one would be either too dark, or the other too light). If that makes sense. That said, in my career, I've seen so many estate photography done by poorly trained photographers that it may entail much more than that to recover the damage. Do you have to stage the scene too? grade? any other thing?

Looks OK, except for the wheel spokes. It seems very muddled. There is really only one way to cut out these and it's the pen tool

I wouldn't suggest it. Really, the pen tool (or if pushed, the polygonal lasso tool) would only make a decent result. You'll have to do that manually

It's down to having an understanding of how photography works. For example in your screenshot, I feel that the background shouldn't be so blurred. The direction of Light seem mostly OK, but the bike rider has a more hash light than the moment. It's not that drastic, it's just tiny little discrepencies... There are lots of online tutorials about "compositing" which is the term you can use to search for them.

light and its quality is a key factor in having things look realistic (beyond the obvious, like proportion, perspective etc, which are good in your example)

It feels like I'm nitpicking, as except of the wheel cut out, it's starting to look good, you just need to make small adjustments so it looks entirely believable.

Sometimes the automatic solutions work, and sometimes they don't, you'll have to adapt.

One thing you can do is ask someone who is completely not into this. Sisters/brothers, friends etc.
People who are honest with you (your mum will always think you're too good! 🙂 )
For example, if I need an exterior eye for something, I'll ask my husband. It's sometimes brutal, but you need brutal opinions sometimes 🙂
That said, I am right and he's wrong most of the times, so I'm good! 😂 (I'm joking!)

One other thing is to "sleep on it". Do what you got to do, and leave it for a day. If the next day you can't find any fault, that means you're OK. Most of the times, details will jump when you're looking at it with "new" eyes.

To get around this you need to soften its edges first.
