Ouch! Perspective don’t really match… You can try to free transform the right eye and mask the other parts of the face. I would try to select the right eye with rectangular marquee tool > make a new layer via copy > convert to smart object > Edit> Transform>Distort (with distord you can drag corner individually to distort image and try make it fits)

hey, is there any way to do something like this, where a given layer (Ex here being a mask layer or whatever its called) is formatted differently on the layer list than others? i would hate using a folder just to hide the thumbnail and reduce clutter, because that just makes it more annoying to work with, but i also hate the visual clutter

I'm not sure I understand the goal. You want to hide the thumbnail? The Layer Thumbnails are all the same visual format which are determined by size, generally via the Panel Options. You can't change just one of them.

Yes if you drag clipped "pupil" layer above "eyelids" layer you'll loose the clipping... Unfortunately that's how photoshop behaves...

that's what I thought... The problem is that all your different parts will move ... If the dot (pupil?) must move over the eyeball it will be difficult... but if pupil can stay at the same position over the eyeball you can link them together (if you move one => the other one move too)

AS a .psd, yes, if it's exported then maybe it's a bit too much.
.psd contains more than just the pixels count, there are the layers (even if empty or near empty) and even more so when there are smart objects

You can test with creating a new doc and check the space taken here (first change the dsplay to "document size")

seconds check size, the first being the size with "just the pixels" and the second being the size as a Photoshop document

You see the size difference can be quite drastic, depending on the number of layers and other parametres

It really depends if you leave all layers intact or are prepared to merge some

If you use vector shapes if you can, then it makes the .psd lighter, same with using adjustment layers a instead of adding more layers with adjustements on them. And beware of smart objects, they can add a lot without you realising

At the end of the day, when exported without layers, only the pixels will count, for example as a jpeg or a png

It's not possible to automatically move it UNLESS you link both the black layer and the text layer. Of course, if your text is still editable (ie not outlined) when you edit it, that won't make the black layer follow your edits

Are you previewing your exported png (639x464) at 100% zoom or more? If you previewing your file overzoomed it's normal that it looks blurry...

You could try to change resampling method in the "Export as" window, "Bicubic Sharper" is known to be good for reduction and "Nearest Neighbor" to preserve hard edges... Perhaps it will help.

Are the 2 pictures the same dimensions? Do you want a vertical split or diagonal? do you want a border as split (like a white line)?
If you want to transform without distortion > ctrl+T> hold shift+drag corner anchor point to resize your image.

I made some test on my end and at this level of reduction (33%) to a so small picture size (639x464) I dont think you can get something really sharp... The only thing I see you could try to improve (if you didn't already try) is to check what's your anti-aliasing mode for your text and change for sharp or something giving your a sharper result before exporting... It could help.
If not I'm running out of idea.

so for this image we'll select the white parts you want to make transparent then make a mask out of it. A mask makes some parts of the image transparent, and some parts not transparent. You can edit the mask later so you won't destroy your image. Let me show you real quick

you have many different layers one on top of another, and none of them have masks. so they are blocking your ability to see the img below

try to bundle them all in one folder and aply a mask on the whole folder, or apply it on each image

you do, but imagine layers as stacks of paper on top of eachother. If you layer has transparency, it will show the image bellow. But those that you have do not. So you will apply a mask on a layer to make it partially transparent, then on the very bottom you keep your background

as you can see, I have a background that has color, but it will not show up cuz I have 2 layers on top that are blocking it

if i mask the layer on top and make the other layers not visible, it will show

you can then use different masks to overlay different images on top of eachother so to keep it non d estructive, since masks are not altering the images themselves

I would look into "Photoshop Compositing" videos instead. Theyre more general and will show you how to put things from one image to another, which is essentially what you need

If you're talking about the little flousish above the text then you can do it, but I would use brushes instead of the pen tool (although you could creates different shapes with gradients to recreate the painting feel)

Depends how are your drawing skills there, it's more a drawing/painting question there than proper Photoshop skills

for example if you take the pianting brushes provided by Adobe, you can get different effects

Well in that case, you can try to check for "flurishes" on reputable stock images website (don't use google images, they are not of sificient quality and you're not sure you got the right to use them)

Or granted you licencing rights (in exchange of money)

Text color depends if you've applied a color overlay or not.
In the exemple I applied a red color overlay so even if my text color is set to black (bottom right on the screenshot) the Color overlay setting in Layer Style panel overwrites it.
