@copper moss Really great job finishing all these challenges! Nice job with all the different methods and techniques. I especially like challenges with the Fish, the "Trani" text with the textured background, the "colors matter" design, and the "nature is art" image. It might be nice to see a larger presentation with all these images with each challenge labelled on the Behance project. Very nice work on all of these!
@wary swan The added bit of brightness really helps this image pop, it especially adds some nice clarity in the goggles of the rider. It also creates some nice warm/cool contrast between the rider and the clouds. Nice work!
Thank you so much 🥰❤️
New color transfer challenge 8.
Day 9. Took a lot of work in Lightroom and photoshop to make this brilliant.
Thanks @bleak fossil I really appreciate it coming from you. Thanks for all the support along the way. 😄
Challenge Eight
Dang, I wanna live there
Thank you. I appreciate your comments. This is going to be the collection for my Behance portfolio.
Wonderfully done. You made one bg color for all images in one logical narration decorated with nature things. Did you do in one artboard all of them in Ps or Ai? And then picked it as one to depict? I liked all your designs. Thanks! 🇮🇸
@eternal mica Thanks Ted for your kind comments. I went back to one of Voodoo Val's streams. Has been an amazing two weeks with Paul.
Thanks! I will reorganize images (for the time being I do not know how to do large presentation) and correct some masking on Color matters. You know, Trani has been a wonderful host both in Ps and Ai. I will watch all old challenges with him though I did not participate in the challenges and might depict some of them. I will depict in my Behance profile the challenge with you, Sam, as well. I like your methods and I am amazed by your design works. I am totally self made in design and learn a lot Ps tricks here in one year. I did not use Ps before. And trained myself to use tools in Ai and Id for 2 years. Thanks! 😍
I accidentally made a second account. At the moment, I put the last one on deletion. Thanks for the feedback, I just started doing Photoshop and this review is just a shock for me. I am glad that you liked my work. It is very important for me!
DCC#8 Harmonization. Couldn't fix that eery light over horizon :/
DCC#9 The Ephesus Great Theatre from 3rd century BC.
Thanks for the feedback Sam, this is only one of 500 photos I shot on this event. I'm sure Paul recognize the area this photo is shot, even thats only part of the building.
All photos is shot with Canon PowerShot S3 IS now I have PowerShot SX 50 HS and SX 70 HS. Both the later have RAW.
I shot rather many photos true the backdoor window in the van, along I 70 on the way to Arches National Park in Utah in full speed.
I'm catching up with the game... Here is my #7 - Perfect patterns result.
And here is the pattern added as pattern overlay on the text together with more layer styles.
Challenge 09: New Color Transfer. I incorporate this owl to this landscape, sits at the edge of a cliff waiting for its prey. I noticed, that thick fog is around, so I used fog brush to fit the bird into general atmosphere for harmonization.
effort
@eternal mica I like this version so much better! Added some glow and shadow effects to the pattern, lightened the background and added a little bit of a gradient, and an outer glow to the lettering.
Challenge #8 - Harmonization - Night scene
Challenge #8 - Harmonization - Landbridge
Challenge #8 - Harmonization - Forrest
Excellent tweaks. Now increase the kerning and you have a Home Run!!

The glittering stars backdrop is compliments of free AdobeStock_90429622. The leaves are images I took and painted with the Mixer brush. I rasterized the type, cmd clicked on the thumbnail to get ants and painted the words, too. That was fun! Same with the heart. Thanks to everyone who make these opportunities available! I really appreciate your time, energy and support!
Thank you for your beautiful holiday message. You are an important member of the Ps DCC Discord community. Your posts inspire the group. We all owe you in return a well earned THANK YOU 💯
CHallenge 09: Create Brilliant Images. The first one a brilliant image and the second is sort of I tried to make through night vision devise image. I am not sure if it is good. Suggestions?
Challenge Nine
apart from the green-brown ground it looks really cool! 👍
I like the realistic look 👍
Thanks. I thought about that after posting it. I’m going to fix it in a bit
Wow, @eternal mica, that means alot. Thank you! (big smile)
Challenge #9 - Create Brilliant images. Another of my own photos. I used LRC instead of ACR but the engines are the same and that's the software I use on daily basis. I also made some touch up in Photoshop after LRC.
How much for the third try??
Because it came out so beautifully, the fee is waived!!!😂
Thanks
Portrait painting challenge
@dull girder Welsocome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. You caught us just as we are completing the live portion of the series. You can complete the rest of the series over the next two weeks, as we go into replay mode. If you're interested, give a shout out. Nice effort on the Color Transfer challenge. Good image to work with as an asset. You created a cool color palette. Good work by you.
@tropic haven Lovely work on these 3 posts. The pattern has a beautiful color palette. The vector shapes stand out nicely. The way you positioned the elements adds interest. Your Color Transfer looks great. The one tweak Id make is to scale up the animal a bit to better match the size of the other elements in the area of the bridge. And your Brilliant Image is beautiful. You really hit the nail on the head. Good work by you all around.
@young karma Very interesting interpretation to this challenge. (It was from our last series.) The challenge was to transfer an image to the dress. It would really be interesting to see if you can trnasfer your design to the dress in the areas where the dress undelies the wave shape.
Color transfer. This was fun. I really like this filter. I almost forgot the shadow and stared at it trying to figure out why it looked funny!
Brilliant images
I had no idea that the background could look so beautiful. It truly pulled it out of the shadows.
@compact snow Thanks for the moodboards. (On a complete aside, I would move the text down below the rectangle with the pattern.) You did a good job with the pattern and adding a mockup. I would make the focal point the shirt by giving it more space. You got a good effect in the arm of the shirt. I would add contrast to the shirt text to give it more pop. The color transfer is adorable and well done. Here again, I think you can get a better result by scaling up the main image and working on the text. Suggestions for text: brighter, more spaced out, better kerning. I might lower opacity of candy cane. They are brightest element in design.
@wary swan Nice work with the Color Transfer. The colors in the first look solid. To sell the image, I would work on some occlusion shadows. I might try to scale the people down just a bit so theyre not hanging over the edge of the bridge. You did a great job splitting the image in the second design. I would increase the filter effect a bit more. The people still seem a bit too bright. Some shadows would help here also. The third one really looks solid. Again, some shadows would help. Maybe the alligator has a bit too much color added. Very well done all around.
Omg 🤣 this is funny bro u have to fix the lighting, highlights and shadows it will make it look realistic
@compact pecan Good work on the Color Transfer. The colors on the whole design work so well. The way you handled the ostrich really is great. I might make one tiny tweak. The giraffe head is a bit awkward with so little of the head to the right of the tree. I might move that element a bit more to the right so the whole head shows.
Where is the pic
@lethal prism Just a suggestion, in the future, you might want to create a single artboard with all of your work, or just post the link to the Behance portfolio, where you can post full size images of all the work.
To find images use the search icon and select from: then type in the users name.
@dusk lance Please post the original image so we can see the effects you added.
Noo I didn't find his user in search
reset your Discord. Hugh has tons of posts
Oo thnx
I've been trying to find a tool to restore parts of image rather than layer masking them do u know any tool which may help
@young karma Beautiful work on your pattern exercise. Very cool how you show the basic design, the pattern preview, and the mockup. The mock up looks terrific. It fits the image beautifully. I would make one tweak in your pattern. The black leaf really stands out much more than the other elements in the pattern. It might be a bit too distracting. You might want to either eliminate it or tone it down.
This chat is exclusively for posting and reviewing DCC images. If you have other Ps questions or designs, I suggest you use one of the more appropriate tabs on the left.
Uh I did that noone replied 😂
You can post it there again.
Filters and enhancing.
Ok can u reply there 😂
Ru removing the giraffes or adding them
Didn't you take the challenge? Adding of course. 😉
Nah I downloaded photoshop yesterday also if you are adding them add some shadows and highlights
Wayt I can show u what m saying
Lemme add shadows and highlights to your one
@tardy talon Beautiful job on the Color Transfer. The coloration of all the objects is very consistent. It might have been cool to add some more depth to the image by moving one of the animals back in the design. Dramatic effect to your Brilliant Image. The Blue/Green palette really jumps off the screen. Cool work. Your Behance is solid. The work you posted this whole series has been so well conceived and executed. Great job by you. Thank you for participating. I hope to see you in the next series.
If you'd like to post your own works for the challenge, please do so. We'd love to see them. Please do not repost other people's work.
Thank you so much Ted 💗
@worn venture Im not sure what you mean by the "projector slide". Your Image definitely adds significant "pop" to the original, especially in the sky and the red strata of the rocks.
@lusty relic Good work recovering the image detail with the Camera Raw. You can push it a bit further by using the HDR. But of course, that is your choice.
So it looks like you basically removed the enhancements (lightened the picture) that Camera Raw added and as for the shadows... I elongated the shadow in the enhanced pic for both of the animals that is actually in the original pic. Thanks! Always looking for feedback helps tweak my skills. 🙃
@digital pike Are these animals lost?? How did they creep into this image from the last exercise??? 😜 😜 Good job working with the CR and HDR. You really got the image to pop. Tons of new definition. Good work by you. (Now put those animals back in exercise 8 where they belong before somebody notices!!!)

@blazing quail Beautiful asset for #9, and solid work on making the image pop. The red and blue tones really come to life. Good work by you.
When Discord wont load my images, I find if I close down and reinitialize, it works.
@lost helm Awesome Behance. I love the presentation concept and the execution. The dragonflies is a great touch. (One tweak, a spelling error in last line. I believe it should be YOUR.) Thanks for posting it. Your work throughout the series was terrific. I look forward to seeing you here again.
@magic edge Beautiful design for the Pattern exercise. You got the shadows and highlights on your mockup to work so well. Great job by you. HAHA, a little Close Encounters here in design 8!!! I think you add a bot more intensity to the Color Transfer on the elephnats to get them to merge into the scene a bit more. And you might add some shadows to give them more realism. You might want to add som glow to the space ships, especially on the bottom side, where there are light sources emanating from the object. Your Brilliant Image is spot on. You did a great job bringing the image to life. The color palette you developed is so natural. I hope youre developing a Behance portfolio of all your work in this series. I hope you post it here so we can all have a look.
Just a quick tip. PT showed how to create a "grid" in Behance, which merges the images into a collage type design. To show individual images in large format, upload using the IMAGE icon. You can upload multiple images at a time.
My pleasure. Keep posting. You will keep getting constructive critiques.
Thanks Ted, I agree the elephant pictures needs work, I have to be honest I uploaded it before seeing the part on the video where Paul did the colors transfer and shadows… much too learn still, but is fun.
Challenge #09
Thank you Ted! Typography is a new can of worms I am trying to dip my toes in. Placement, saturation, and kerning all very great suggestions 🙂
Yeah, when PT's rolling, I have to watch to the very last second. And I cant blink or I'll miss a critical step!! Many times he throws something in during the last 60 seconds that completely changes the whole message he taught previous. He's incredible. Keep on posting. Youre doing great.
Dont try to do too much. For the overwhelming number of designs you create, especially as to text, Less is More. Remember, the main goal is legibility, not how many Ps styles can I throw at one line of text.
@bleak fossil Ps DCC 21-11 09 Brilliant Images Scenes of Israel
Wow! 👍👏
Yes, Ted you are right. But my machine was as if stacked and I could not move my mouse or close. I just shut off by force. Maybe there was some browser attack or something. Now I will rise mobile internet speed for uploading better by updating my modem.
I could not upload multiple at one time. I will rearrange the file in my profile with Trani challenges. Because Sam suggests them each to be bigger size. What image icon do you mean, can you show in a small print screen? Thanks! 👍
@eternal mica Thanks for the comments and encouragement. 😄
Thank you so much @eternal mica I really appreciate it. Yes I will continue!
And Yes @eternal mica , defiantly it should be Your. Thanks for point it out to me. I have now updated it on Behance. 😄
Thanks for the feedback Ted, Did you not know what Scouts is a brave family 🥰
Sorry. I don't understand. Did I not know what???
You said -" I might try to scale the people down just a bit so theyre not hanging over the edge of the bridge."
Hahaha, yes, much more brave than me!!!!
Did you observer what country they come from, a tip look at the order they stand in from left to right 🇫🇷
I am in the middle of making pages for my portfolio. I just wanted to post all 9 of my attempts at the challenges. maybe I shouldnt have put them all up for people to see... or maybe I posted too many. or in the wrong area or something. I thought we were supposed to post our work at the attempts here.
There is no rule. I would thinl about this. Whatever I post here is viewed for a day. What I post in Behance is there to be seen forever.
Take the time to visit the Behance Ps DCC portfolios of others to get inspired in terms of content and design. In Behance.net search #psdailychallenge. If you'd like more assistance, please let me know.
@lethal prism now add your images. Click the image icon. Make sure you add the hashtag psdailychallenge
they're already in there
Only one showed up
Ok, I see them all now. I was on my phone. My computer shows them. Did you load them as images or a grid?
a grid
You can load them individually and add text captions to each one.
yeah I loaded it like that and then realized that and just didnt want to have to do all of that but I think maybe it would be best to redo it...
I do both
You make two pages with both individual pictures and one with a grid of em?
No, it's all of one DCC is in the same portfolio. Each DCC has its own portfolio with all the work displayed in it. Check out my Behance page. I have lots of portfolios. I even PrPro movies in some of them
I was looking at that. I was wondering why you had other peoples work in it. That makes sense, now.
All work in any of my portfolios is mine, unless it's an asset
Finally caught up on all this week's challenges.
Landscape Day-- I noticed that the neural filter does cause some loss of detail. Is there a way to avoid or correct for that?
Pattern Day-- don't tell the old alma mater I'm using the script A. 😂
Color Transfer-- I could use some advice on those shadows especially, I just can't seem to get them to the level of convincing I want.
Nice one 🤙
Hi, here my challenge 1
my challenge 2
Hi, here my challenge 3 with 2 differents versions
and challenge 4, feedback and advices are welcomed for all the challenges.
Thanks! This is a photo slide for a projector.
I've finished all the challenges for this period and I have uploaded them to my Behance profile. I hope it's ok to post the link to the project here in this challenge section of discord: https://www.behance.net/gallery/130861751/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-Nov-8-19
Challenge 9 Brilliant images. I used one of my own recent photos. Before and after…
Updated Challenge Nine
It is wow. Especially when he took it from me above that comment and used PicArt on it.
Updated the cover graphic.
Great project! I like it!
@hollow yarrow Thank you so much! I’m happy that you like it 😊
Hi Guys, totally new to Photoshop and Discord, but here's my attempt at the Day 1 daily challenge. It might be terrible, it might even be too subtle to tell
@eternal mica Those 'brilliant' images are fabulous!! Bravo!!!
A composite that used almost all of Paul's DC Challenges: patterns, harmonization, texts, patterns. This is a continuation of my Fellini infatuation. Still need to work on the hyper real image but I think I've got a bit of a handle on the surreal. 😋
Thank you. You are too kind.
Hey guys
I challenge you to turn one of these pictures to a piece of art
Unleash your creativity, ideas and skills
The mountain from Day 1 that we had to clean up, well, I kind fo got carried away and did this instead using the Layer Mask Tool and Blending. I had loads of fun doing it though.

Here is my complete DCC 21-11. Im having a problem saving it in Ai the way I want to. But this will have to do for now. I will post it in Behance in full size.
Shout out to @quartz bear for helping out in Ai chat to get this to work. He's terrific. And then I had to shrink it down 3 times to get under 8MB. But, as VDV would say, TaaDaaaa!!! Here it is.!!!!
I want to thank @brittle slate for another incredible series. He never ceases to amaze. He packs every 25 minute session with so many tips and techniques. A special thank you to The Mentor @bleak fossil , there's nobody quite like him. Of course, MMMV @coral stone , what can I say I havent said. To all the great creatives who make this chat such an amazing welcoming friendly educational beautiful space. Your work inspires me. Thanks for all your kind words of support and gratitude for my mentoring. Every day in that role, Im learning and growing more than Im teaching. Thank you @uncut ginkgo for the invaluable support and encouragement. Here is my Behance portfolio. I hope you get a chance to stop by and pay a visit. Any and all comments are welcome. https://www.behance.net/gallery/131716615/Photoshop-DCC-2021-11-Nov-08-19-2021-Paul-Trani
Hope you used the slice tool to break this up when uploading to your Behance project. 😮
Nope, no slice tool. Slow loading.
I never heard of the slice tool. What is it? I just load image. It doesn't take long at all. It loads up without delay.
The only reason I said that is because when I am showcasing people's Behance projects on my streams, I like to zoom into the image by clicking on it. When you click on yours, it one long image. When I use the method you did, I use the slice tool to make sections of the overall image and upload sections so they can be seen better. Or use artboards.
What width did you use to make your project? I've not seen one that works as well as yours does. Click to zoom in, click again to zoom in. Nice. I was wrong. I'll show it on my stream in about 40 mins.
Oh my, thank you. You can see it full size in my behance
Do you remember the width?
Artboards are 1920x1080. There are 12 or 13 stacked. It's a huge file.
Wow, thanks! I never exported all my artboards as one image. I'll try that!
I first saw it in an Ai welcome stream by Julia back in June. Absolutely love the technique for DCC recap
#05 Portrait Painting
#challenge 6 Landscape Mixer
— Day 08 — New Color Transfer
Playing catch up, apologies
#06 Landscape Mixing
What method did you use for this challenge ?
Hi Nathalie, I cut the sky out from the original image, and replaced it with a new image onto the layer behind it. I then merged the two layers (original and new) and then used the neural filter to mix the merged image with the new image. I then used the Linear Gradient tool, in Camera Raw to make the foreground lighter and the clouds darker. Hope this answers your question 👍
Thought the images selected were fab for editing
Thank you for your answer but it's not for this image, my question was for the black woman picture (challenge 5 portrait painting)
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @forest lion
😂😂 I replied in detail, but the hot threw it out for a ‘bad’ word, although no idea what the word was 😂😂
- I masked out the lady
- I inserted a new image on the layer behind it.
- I matched the two images for lights and darks by selecting darks and lights with a black and white adjustment layer, and only adjusting the image of the lady by clipping a levels adjustment layer to the image, then discarding the black and white adjust layer.
- I made slight adjustments to her face with neural filters.
- Using the filter gallery, I used the ‘Dry Brush’ filter on both the lady and the background image.
- In Camera Raw I made adjustments. BASICS - shadows - blacks - texture - clarity DETAIL - sharpening - noise reduction And in the coors mixer I added a lot in the ‘GREENS’ hue/saturation/luminance
- Added the exact same CR adjustments to the background layer.
- Added Color balance - brightness/contrast - levels - hue/saturation adjustment layers.
- Main adjustment was hue/saturation in the ‘reds’ huge reduction.
Sorry it is so long winded, and maybe could have been done quicker, but hope it helps 👍
Hi guys. I have a serious request/challenge. I need a 1500x1500 grid that contains 15x15(pixels) squares with 100 squares per row and 100 rows(10 000 squares in total) with a thin white border and the following color code inside the square:#ba26c8 aka dark purple.
I tried online grids but couldn't pull it off myself so any help would be great!
1500x1500 with 15x15 squares won't give you enough space for 'thin border' 😕
Assuming the border would be 1px you would get a 1516x1516px image
See if this is any help
@forest lion Thank you very much man!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @forest lion
this is exactly the problem I mentioned in #challenge-suggestions
the squares aren't 15x15, but 13x13
just like wertos said, it's not possible
Good maths Cpt
plus the border on these is 2px wide as every square now has it's own border
'make do'? Why not just recalculate things?
it was pure curiosity how did you do it thank you for the reply

#challenge 9 - Create Brilliant Images (Camera RAW, etc.) *** Does anyone else notice when viewing images by iPhone posted in Discord, when you click on the image to view it separately, the colors change to be more bright & vibrant??? *** 🤔🤔
Challenge 5
@coral cloak Did you take all those shots of the eclipse? Great work, whether you did or didnt. The black BG and stark white simple text really sell this. Very well done.
@tropic garnet Beautiful interpretation of the Color Transfer exercise. All the elements in your design have a nice cohesion and consistency. Good work by you.
@spice shoal Good work on the Color Transfer exercise. The sky replacement looks good too. Adding the animals is a cool little touch. Your Brilliant Images is awesome. I like the image you selected, and I love how you polished it up. The effects you added really make the image pop. Good work all around.
@halcyon current Very cool concept with the Pattern design. And applying it to the chess text is well done. Your Color Transfer looks solid. The masking of the animals, and the coloration are solid. You might be able to get away with brightening up the animals a bit. They may be just a touch too dark. Try it and see what you think. The daytime and forest color transfer are spot on. You did a great job on both. WOW, your CR brilliant Image is dramatic. This is such a powerful tool. Its great to hear youre comfortable using it. Good work all around by you. BTW, we spoke about your work during the livestream!!!
@copper moss Your color transfer design is cool. The foggy vibe works well and the owl coloration works well. I might tone down the bright highlight on the rock a bit. Good efforts on the 2 Brilliant Images. You recovered a lot of the detail in the daytime one. The nighttime one is a cool idea. Keep playing with it and see what you come up with.
@gentle pasture Good effort on the Color Transfer with the rhino. The elements are blended really well. The elephant design is wild!!! It looks like it could be a design for the Brilliant Images exercise. Maybe it is!!!
@teal cairn Very well done Brilliant Image design. The sky replacement worked very nicely. The pop you added to the design on the second variation is really powerful. I like how you even got the road to be more intense in the second image. Good work by you.
@silent perch Welcome Bryan. You caught this DCC right at the end. But you have the next two weeks to go back and do the other challenges. I hope you decide to do that. Nice work on the two Color Transfer designs. In the rhino one, I think the left rhino has a bit too much green tint to it. The center one looks great. On both and on the elephant, you can use some occlusion shadows and some touching up of the feet on the ground to better sell the realism of the images. Good effort.
Challenge 7 Patterns
very cool idea... !!
Thanks

Thanks!

Patterns: I created a pattern from original content. Getting ready for the holidays.
I used Fresco to draw the bear, the rest is all PS. Gradient, shapes, filters gallery in layers of course.
@eternal mica Thank you so much for your feedback and all the kind words! I appreciate it very much. You're absolutely right about the light in the nightscene. I noticed it too but I don't know why I didn't correct it before sending it in. Now you got me curious about what was said about my work on the livestream 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@compact pecan I love your pattern and even more the pillow you used the pattern on. Well done!
That's some awfully cuteness going on there. Enough color splash to catch my eye but not distracting. v nice. 🙂
Thanks.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @signal grove
Thanks, @halcyon current! I was originally thinking a kid’s blanket or pillow case, but I’m happy with how this one turned out.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @halcyon current
Day 8
I did take all the photos, it was quite a night. Thank you for the feedback. I actually thought I put too many stages in the design.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
back at ya @eternal mica 🥳
@eternal mica I think it is better now but I didn't want to make it too bright either. I masked out the light on the front of the standing critter and a bit at the bottom of the laying one.
Challenge 6
@tropic garnet Beautiful work on the Brilliant Images. It would be cool to see the asset you used to create this design. The sky replacement and the tone of the rocks have a nice cohesion. The image has a nice 1/3s split between the sky, the rock and the shrubs. The one tiny tweak Id make is to lower the highlight in the area in the center right where the image seems to be washed out.
@misty lantern Good work on the lion portrait. the filters you applied create nice interest in the image. It definitely has the look of a painting on a canvas. the coloration works really well , especially with the way the BG blends in.
@fleet trout Cool interpretation of the Brilliant Images design. The cool green effect youve added makes for some interesting rocks. You might want to bring the tints from the sky replacement into play to add a bit more red into the design.
@tired turret The asset image you have for the color transfer is cool. You might want to align the shadow of the right elephant with the light source and the shadow of the left elephant, and add some occlusion shadows for both of them. With the giraffe image, I think you can add quite a bit of contrast to the giraffes. After all, they are standing in the bright sunlight. Im not sure the shadow you have outside the cave is positioned right. I guess its where one senses the sun is coming from.
@lean anvil It would be cool to see the asset image for your Brilliant Images. You certainly have brought out a lot of the details in the photo.
@brazen basalt LOL, you caught up on your designs, now I have to catch up on the critiques!!! On your landscape mixer, you can control the detail on your image by selecting different filters and by using the sliders within a filter to get the intensity you want. Interesting interpretation to see the seasons unfold that way. The paper airplane is a cool addition. The pattern is well done the mock up looks great. You might want to lower the opacity just a bit to let more of the folds in the fabric show through. I think your color transfer looks good in terms of integrating the two images, as does the masking. Im not sure what youre suggesting about the shadows.
@limber thistle Your work on Polishing the image came out very well. The After skin is smooth, clean, and I especially like that you toned down the red in the original. It gives the model a much more relaxed look. Your Auto masking is solid. The flowers you selected/masked look great. Id make two suggestions. Id scale up the size of your text, and I might add a curves/levels adjustment layer to the text to add some more contrast so the dark of the BG doesnt swallow up some of the text. The Gradient images look cool. The liquify added good sense of motion, more clearly in the red image than the green image. The T&T exercise is a good effort. The scaling and spacing is well done. I might add a bit more of a layer style to the text to make it bolder against the BG. All in all, nice work by you.
@halcyon current Thank you for posting your Behance. Good effort by you. One thing you might consider in your next portfolio is to add a little text to explain what each design objective was. That will help your viewers get a better understanding of what you accomplished in each exercise.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @halcyon current
@compact pecan Beautiful asset image for the Brilliant Images exercise. It looks like a lovely spot. Your CR and filter made a dramatic difference on the image. All the detail from the rocks and the depth of the colors looks great. The water stream looks especially good. Very well done!!
@bronze flicker Is that design for one of the challenges?
Used a little Harmonization & Landscape Mixer
@next plank Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Youve found a great place to learn Ps and simultaneously have lots of fun and meet some awesome people from around the world. If you have any questions, give a shout. We're here to help. No your effort is not terrible. You did a fine job with the Polishing exercise. The After image skin loks smooth clear and bright. Keep uo with the other challenges. I know you'll have a ton of fun.
@arctic rover SURREAL!!!! Thats the word I was looking for. So much in this image to comment on. I love the creativity, the effort, the willingness to go for broke. Im not going to make any attempt to comment on the details other than to say I would make one small tweak. I would try to make the people look a bit less digital by adding some depth to them. Keep up those creative juices flowing!!!
@next plank If you had fun, then thats whats important. There are very few rules here. And somewhere in there, I do SEE a mountain!!!
@eternal mica Thank you for your feedback and good advice. I appreciate it very much. I've always had a bad time to write explaining texts but I will try to get better at it.

@compact snow Very cool use of the CR to change the vibe of an image. The After has an almost pencil drawing vibe to it. It makes the scene look so soft and serene. And your explanatory text font fits that vibe very nicely. I might change the large font to be something more in line with that feeling. But that could just be my personal preference.
I dont usually make up explanatory text. I just copy and paste the text from the Behance DCC landing page for each exercise. That seems like enough of an explanation.
@eternal mica That sounds about perfect. I'll certainly do that next time.

@forest lion Excellent work on the Portrait painting exercise. The image looks incredibly realistic. Your work on the highlights and shadows is great. And the brush strokes in dabs looks so realistic. Great work by you.
@void fractal Well done on the Landscape exercise. The sky replacement, the sun, and the winter effect all came out great. I like the way you brought the tint of the sky replacement to both the sun and the snow. The way the filter hit the side of the mountain is really special.
@young karma Wow, I had to blow this up 3 times before I could see the detail on the animals!! You really blended them in well. The fog looks terrific, very realistic. Solid work by you.
@high mesa Which exercise is the image for?
@forest lion Good job on the Landscape Mixer exercise. Very strong concept. I might suggest there be more of the spillover glow from the lightning on the mountains, and less light on the rocks in the front of the image.
@quiet fern Nice work with the Brilliant Image. The way you have the sky replacement effect the rest of the image is really well done. Your work with the CR to draw out the details in the rock is also well done. Very good work by you.
@lusty shell Solid effort by you in the Portrait Painting. The mixture of filters you applied has created a very interesting effect. It looks very realistic for a painting on a canvas. The way you effected the highlights and shadows looks great. Very well done.
@tiny horizon Which exercise is this image for?
@young karma Yes they are fun arent they. Which exercise is this for? It would be cool to see your asset image so we can appreciate the nature of the effects you created.
@compact pecan Awesome pattern and awesome mock up. The pattern fits the asset image perfectly. And you got a very realistic curve to the application to the pillow. Super work.
Thanks @eternal mica

@radiant relic Awesome Pattern. Very much a holiday design. I think I like the first one a bit better, even though its more structured in format. I like the filled in look of it. Great job by you.
@buoyant nova Nice effort on the Color Transfer exercise. I like the way you selected and masked all the animals. I think you can increase the red tone on the animals to give them more of the reddish look of the environment. They still have a bit too much of the unfiltered look. I might even give a slight blur to the two little guys in the front to add a sense of depth to the image.
Great Photography!!!!
@lusty shell Awesome result on the Landscape Mixer design. You created an absolutely solid sunrise (sunset) effect. The sky replacement and filters you applied create a beautifully blended image. Well done.
Thanks @eternal mica I added a color lookup which took the redness away. Think I will change it back and will try the blur, thanks

@mental lynx Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Youre off to a great start to completing all 9 challenges. If you have any questions, or need any help, please feel free to ask. We're here to help. It seems you intended to color the Polishing Photos model green against a B&W face. That make sit hard to evaluate how well you touched up the image to make the skin look smooth and natural. Your Auto masking exercise came out solid. The flowers look great. Is the text a font or did you make the letters out of shapes? The Gradient exercise looks real nice. I like the different approaches you took to each of the three models. The liquify and blur you added to the bottom right model creates a sense of motion that works well. The T&T exercise is interesting. The enhancements you added to the EARTH text make the text interesting. It looks like you have a fill and then a layer over the text. All the effects together may make the text a bit too difficult to read. Id suggest you eliminate the light yellow leaves. The script text might work better without a fill. The font might be too thin to accommodate the fill you have.
Why are almost none livestreams on Adobe-live this week?
@edgy herald Without knowing for sure I think it can depend on that it’s Thanksgiving week this week and also two weeks of reruns of the challenges at the same time.
@edgy herald This week is Thanksgiving in USA. Almost all businesses, other than retail, are closed Thursday and Friday. Adobe has the practice of not running live streams in holiday weeks.
If its related to DCC, yes I'm interested.
Thankyou @eternal mica for your feedback! Will definitely keep those points in mind while creating more ps works! Those fonts in challenge 2 is a predefined font library.
What font is it
The font family is 'Milka' there are many variations available as well - do check it out, it's one of my favourites just love how it's only made of basic shapes and still look wonderful!
Thanks.

Ten days ago, here in the chat, a couple of us got to discussing the iconic NatGeo Afghan Girl photo by Steve McCurry. A few days later, I used that photo in my Portrait Painting design. @ruby panther saw it and discussed it in his stream. By sheer coincidence, the photo, and the actual person, are back in the news. I thought it would be an interesting news sidelight to share with the chat on this quiet day.
"Afghan girl," whose piercing green eyes captivated the world in 1984, once again flees her country
I saw that on the news this morning, Ted. Thanks for sharing!

@mental lynx I see somebody really really enjoys playing with Neural Filters!! So interesting to see all the variations you created. The asset images you selected are all good subjects to apply the filters to, with nice highlights and shadows to work with. Youre creativity and execution in the different designs is well done. I hope Im not making a fool out of myself, but Im assuming the Landscape Mixer designs have the untouched images on the left and the After picture on the right. (In the future, when you post designs, please give as much identifying info as possible so we can know what we're looking at.) Good job with the sky replacements and with the landscape changes. The changes you made gives each one of the designs added pop and added interest. One tweak I'd suggest is to check to make sure that the water reflections have the same sky as the new sky you added. It might need a little tweaking in the first image, and more in the second. Good work all around. Keep it up.
@ruby panther Isnt that the craziest of coincidences??? I cannot thank you enough for mentioning me in your stream. It was a real surprise, and one I enjoyed immensely.

Couldn't decide which one, really like them both
@tribal ferry Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat? Is this your first effort at a challenge and posting? You did a good job with the two Polishing Photos. On your first one, you did well taking way the blemishes. I might have spent some time getting the skin tone to be less red, more natural. On your second one, the image is well done. I like the neural filter you applied. Its always interesting to see how such a subtle change can alter an image's vibe. Good start.
@mental lynx Nice work with the Pattern exercise. I like the first one a lot. (This is totally personal preference, but in that image, I would play with the shadow giraffes. They look a bit distracting with so many of their heads cut off. Like I said, that may be just me.) You did a good job masking the flowers and the animals. Perhaps another group of objects to fill up more of the palette wouldnt look too bad.
@dusky swallow Welcome back. Good to see you here again. Your Polishing Photos is a good effort. You smoothed out a lot of the facial imperfections. I might use the clone stamp to get some of the more normal colored skin to cover the reddish blotch where you removed all the spots.
@high mesa I like them both, but I like the red one better. I think the shadows show up better than in the B&W, where they seem to be lost in the dark tones, especially on the face. Also, the liquify effect on the BG shows up better, and creates a better sense of motion. Good work in either case.
the red one! But they're both great
Thank you Ted, I will try it for sure and see the result. Great feedback

Thank You all
@lusty shell Very interesting work on the Pattern exercise. The monochromatic vector look is cool. I would make one tweak. Since there is no definition to the vector images other than the outline, I would keep from stacking any of the animals one on top of another. The Color Transfer looks solid. I might make the bull a bit larger and give it just a bit of soft color overlay to add depth and realism. The Camera Raw Brilliant Images design is awesome. You really recovered so much of the detail from the rocks and the landscape. All in all very solid work. Your work on this entire series was consistently well done. I hope youre going to post a Behance portfolio. I look forward to seeing you in the next series.

here the last challenge 9
Hello guys!!
Challenge 4, still catching up....
They are both uniquely different but I think I like the black and white one better. The B&W makes me thing of something you might see in an Ad more than the red one. I think if you could make the face in the red one a little less red on the face or lighten the face up a little bit more I be more attracted to it. But in the red one I like the dust coming off of the words and the contrast between the three colors of the words, background, and dust coloring. What would it look like if you used the background color of the red one as the dust coloring of the B&W one?

@limber thistle What a wonderful batch of posts. Good work by you. Your designs on the Portrait Painting make a great collage. The individual works are well done, and the composite of the 9 looks great as well. I really like (reading 1>9 TL>BR) #2 for the way you handled the highlights and shadows; #6 for the detail and realism in the lion; #9 for the creative approach to the design. In your Landscape Mixer, I especially like #6 and #8 for the way you brought the filter's effect on the sky into the other elements in the design. I think on some of the other designs, you can focus more on accomplishing the same result. Cool work on the Pattern and mock ups. The brush design looks like you can definitely use it in your future design work. The left mockup shows the folds very nicely. (I cant really see them against the black BG.) Youre correct, each color gives a different vibe to the Color Transfer. Which one is your favorite? #1, #2, #5 are mine. IMHO, #3 and #4 are a bit too dark. On your last design, you did a nice job recovering the detail with the CR and adding the HDR gave it real pop. I think you might try toning down the effect just a drop to keep some of the landscape from appearing washed out. Solid effort all around by you!!
@high mesa Well done T&T design. The layer styles you applied look solid. The text fill is very interesting. I think you can scale up the text to make it more prominent in the design and show off the style effects more. Once its scaled up, check to make sure the black of the BG doesnt swallow any of the text. If it does, maybe lower the opacity of the BG, which is handled very well by you. Good work!!!
@rocky kite Cool concept for the title page design. You created a nice Autumn vibe. I think the legibility of the text would be enhanced if it were a less busy fill, probably a solid. See what you think.
@mental lynx Please post the originals so we can evaluate the effects you added.

Photoshop DCC Day 1 - Photo Polishing
@old bolt Looking good Marsha! Nice job with the skin retouching, it makes a big difference and still looks really natural. Excellent job of cleaning up the fly-away hairs on the top design too! It looks really clean and the background behind it looks good. Nice work!
@mental lynx Really great job masking with both of these Day 8 designs! I really like the colors in both of these too. My main suggestion would be that the stick/root in front of the rhino looks a bit too sharp where it overlaps the animal. The stick is in the foreground and is a bit out of focus, so blurring that hard edge where it overlaps the rhino might give it a more natural look. Well done!
@rocky kite Very nice job with the design, I like the texture that overlays on the Photoshop text. The drop shadow shape helps it contrast a bit more strongly too. 👍
@high mesa Very cool! Great color contrast here with the challenge 4 design, it really gives it a punchy and dramatic look. The contrast in texture of the grainy background really adds to that as well. Nicely done!
@eternal mica Super late response, but great work on all these challenges Ted! I really like the presentation and Autumn feel of your Behance project. These came out really nicely. I especially like the Challenge 2, 3, and 5 designs. Though I think 2 might be my favorite. Always great to see what you're creating 👍
Hey Sam. Better late than never. Thanks for the comments. Your time and attention is always appreciated. I forgot the individual designs. Youve given me a reason to go back and visit them again!! LOL. There were so many great techniques used by Paul, I loved creating these designs. What did you think of the B&W one? I really was happy with the Behance. For the Landscape adjustment, the neural filters were giving worse results, so I used the sky replacement, on top of my own HDR blended images. Blacks are a bit crushed though.
Boy, you’re right about the blacks - you’ve lost any and all information in that part. Do you have 3 separate files that you combined for the HDR image, or did you use a camera’s HDR “mode”? If you have the three separate images, I wonder if you could save the darks by using just the lightest image?
@high mesa The sky looks great! Love the colors. But yeah, the landscape definitely fades into a silhouette. Are you able to mask some of the adjustments out of the ground area, or even mask and apply some adjustments to brighten it up a touch in that specific area? Hugh also has a good suggestion. Nice job!
@limber thistle Challenges 7-9 are looking really solid! I really like all the color variations on Challenge 8, and the mockups on Challenge 9. I especially like the subtle gradients on the shapes in the yellow/orange pattern design. Very nicely done 👍
Oh, missed your challenges 5 and 6 too, really liking how much you're playing with alternate designs and looks in all these. Great variety in the landscapes, and I really love the colors and style in the 3rd bottom portrait (bottom right corner). Very cool.
@lusty shell Nice job with challenges 7-9! The color matching turned out really well in challenge 8, and the retouches in challenge 9 are looking solid. Perhaps the day 9 image could use a little contrast boost overall, especially a bit of a brightness boost? Nice work with all of these!
@dusky swallow Excellent color contrast with this design! The text really pops against the darker green background, and the flower texture is working really well. It almost looks like there may be some kind of adjustment layer for the text that isn't clipped to the text layer? Almost like a bit of colorful glare within the O, bottom of the V, and bottom left of the L? Though perhaps that was intentional. Nice work!
Hi
@bleak fossil @compact pecan Thanks for your feedback; the HDR image , despite having several images, they were underexposed, so the HDR just battered them. Redid the exercise with another image which was better exposed. Still had the same issues with Neural filters, just made it worse, then crashed out. So, just used a levels and the sky adjustment.

I really like the colors in this sky! I think the reflection in the water is a really great element to draw the viewer’s eye into the image. I think a really quick and easy way to really “finish” it would be to use the spot healer brush and slowly take away the power lines that go across the image. What do you think?
Oy
looks a bit surreal, but it has a nice reflection with the river 👍
@eternal mica The B&W image definitely has an interesting look, almost frosted glass looking in a way. The text helps push that feel too. Do you happen to know what Ai DCC that technique you mentioned for the Behance project was? I'd be interested in checking it out.

@hollow yarrow It must be lunchtime!! Awesome presentation. You selected an excellent asset. Very well done polishing the photo. The color layers add such strong depth to the shadows and facial bone structure. Solid effort.
@old bolt Lovely photography of the birds, and solid selection. Nice work with flowers also. I might suggest a fill with a bit more contrast to the BG. And maybe another layer style to add more contrast.

@hollow yarrow I LOVE your LOVE design!!! Awesome creativity; awesome execution, as usual. Adding the process gif only makes viewing the design that much more enjoyable. Hi @eternal mica I took your suggestion and with Levels darkened the bg and added a duplicate bg layer with a mask to even out the tone. What do you think? I've included the original Light version and then the Darker version
I think the focal point of your design is a lot more distinct. The text is crisp and clear. The birds and white flowers stand out more brightly. The BG is not stealing attention away from the text. Good work by you.
Darker background definitely helps making your design pops! Great work Marsha and on point suggestion @eternal mica 👍
Challenge 6 Change the weather. I also used the Replace Sky feature. The original image is mine.
For now just challenges for 3 days (I'm back!): Day 1 - Photo polishing (definitely, I prefer spot healing brush)
Here I didn't have any ideas for compositing... Why selecting subjects isn't so easy like it seems?
Day 3: Gradients... The gradients are very interesting to me. Here I used noise gradient for background (100 times for randomizing) plus a gradient texture. For the subject: Ice Effect gradient with blending mode Color Burn, Method - Perceptual.
I think this turned out really nice. I think I might use a bolder color for “LOVE” so that it stands-out a bit more from the background. But that’s just my preference - the image looks really good!
I agree! The healing brush is a great tool and often makes quick work out of lots of edits. It might be my screen, but it looks like the healing brush preserved more color than the one using ACR. I think it looks a little more natural when I look at them side-by-side
Thanks, @compact pecan

Subtle is always better than overdone! I think both portraits look good - you’ve kept them looking realistic but edited out the acne and other blemishes. I think your rock climber image looks great - even knowing the hikers were there originally, I’m having a hard time seeing anything out-of-place. Nicely done!
Thank you Ted for your advice. I am so enjoying these DCCs.

My design "pops"! 😎
@compact pecan Beautiful original photo. Great asset to work with. Carrying the sky replacement coloration over to the coloration of the modified image worked very well. The Landscape Mixer filter worked well on the highlights and shadows of your asset. The orange tint on the shrubbery really sells the realism. Good work by you.
@queen aspen Nice batch of posts. The Photo Polishing is well done in both designs. The skin coloration looks smooth and natural. Your Auto masking is lovely. The work on masking the flowers is very well done. They show brightly throughout the design. I think the Text fill is a bit busy and distracts from the rest of the design. There are a few spots where the Blend Mode may be showing the flower through the text where I dont think you intended it. You might want to clean that up. Very solid Gradient design. It has an almost 3D look to it. The sense of motion is great. The colors of the BG work great together. The skin tones are a bit washed out and unnatural. You may want to tone those areas down a bit. Solid work all around by you.
@hollow yarrow You could have easily used this design for the Color Transfer exercise as well. Excellent work masking the text and trees, especially with the cast shadows. The brightness of the text and the colors stand out clearly from the darkened forest trees. The mock up and frame are a cool touch. As always, seeing your process video is an awesome educational experience for all of us. Thank you for posting that.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out.
does someone know, why the landscape mixer always looks that unrealistic with my tries?
Can you post the original image you’re using before the filter? It looks like there is also an oil paint filter on the sky. But I’m on my phone, so it’s hard to tell
wait
Hmm. And just the landscape mixer neural filter is added? Have you tried adjusting the strength and seeing if that makes any difference?
that's just the landscape mixer. I tried it with less strength, but it didn't help a lot...
Gradients
Type and textures, Day 4
snowy mountain??
@dusky swallow I really like your Gradient exercise. It has strong sense of motion created the liquify filter. The colors of the gradient give a cohesive feel to the model you used. Im not sure the little additional model adds to the design effect. But that might just be me. On your T&T design, the color palette you created is awesome. The color overlay you gave the BG image changes the whole feel of the design. The two different text fonts are interesting and your layer styles work very well. The enhancements you added to the text look cool. I might change the drop shadow color to be something that creates more contrast for the text against the BG. Good work by you.
@drifting inlet Very cool interpretation of the Landscape Mixer challenge. Very good work creating the blowing snow, the clouds, the frost on the figure. Solid effort by you!!!
I experienced the same issue and I fixed it processing the sky separately... AI still has some limitations😉
I never tested it but you ould use sky replacement function to get the layer mask and use it later to fix your sky... In this way you could process the ground and sky separately... Just an idea.
Here one DCC already finished but not published so https://www.behance.net/gallery/130084145/PSDCC-OCT-BIS-2021-HALLOWEEN . Thank you to VooDoo Val for this DCC and the mentor for the reviews and feedback.
Neat and nice layout! Great project!👍
I almost just used sky replacement for this until now. In my experience this is faster and looks more realistic...
nice artwork! 👍
i made this, but want it smaller for wrapping paper
like this
thank you Ted, I know the extra model in the gradients image doesn´t do much, but I wanted to explore further the technique and kept it there....

Patterns
what is today's challenge?
no ongoing challenge right now. Everyone is currently doing the last challenge.
@dusky jewel Lately we've been doing 2 weeks of live challenges, and then 2 weeks of replays. We're currently on the 2nd week of replays and will start a new set of challenges (though the next one with be 1 week instead of 2) on Monday. Today's Creative Encore replay challenge was Perfect Patterns. You can find all the challenges here: https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop
@dusky swallow This pattern looks great! I really like the sort of pastel color palette, and the mock ups look really good. This is a really minor nitpick, but I kind of feel like perhaps the dark tones could be boosted on the bottom/2nd pattern mockup, the shadows look a litle light compared to the environment. Nice work!
@drifting inlet These are both looking really solid, I like what you did with the colors to give it a more classic painted look. I especially like the first design which I feel has a convincing look to it. The cracked paint/canvas texture adds a really nice element to it as well. Looks good!
@dusky swallow Very nice work on the Landscape Mixer challenge as well as the Portrait Painting images! I really like the variety between the two landscape mixer images, and they both have a really convincing look to them. Really nice job with the painted style effects as well, these came out well 👍
@worn venture Hah, you're wrapping paper pattern came out great, I really like the colors and the size variation between each element. It has a nice balance to it. Glad you got the pattern scale working too, nicely done!
@bleak fossil thanks! Now if I can find a place to get it printed before Christmas, my daughter will be ecstatic!

Hi, I am working to catch up on the challenges and on the Perfect Patterns today. Im having some trouble with getting a good selection on some of the leaves in the example file, and would love any tips. I used object selection tool, but as you can see it still kept a lot of the white. Then I pasted the selection to a layer and tried to use "select color range' as Paul did to delete the white, but the result is eating away at the leaves and still leaving a halo effect as seen in screenshots. Any tips??
Hmmm, even this one is giving me problems, which should be simple. this is the result of my object selection. Is there a setting I am missing?
Select colour range should give you what you have in your second image. You can than further tweak it with Select and Mask by moving around the edge shift and feathering to remove the white edges.
Thank you for the tip. The thing is, Paul did not have this issue during the demo, and it is the same file, so I think object selection tool should work the same way. So is there a setting or a step I am missing? I tried re analyzing the image to be sure, but got the same result.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @slow totem
I'd have to rewatch the challange, but I recollect he used masking. Brb
Just checked, he actually does no cleanup at all for this one.
So my recommendation still stands, it should give you the best result.
Hi Thanks for checking, you are right he does not do extra cleanup, except for one leaf. But that is exactly my point. I should be able to get the same result as Paul- no cleanup or select and mask needed- with the same file and using object selection, which is why I am wondering if there is a setting I am missing? And he uses a colored background as well, so we know his selections are clean. Thanks!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @slow totem
@spark ledge CptFuzzball has some great suggestions, and I agree color range could be a good solution. I also often use the magic wand tool to select flat areas of color (make sure contiguous at the top is unchecked) with good success. Also, if you need to get rid of a halo you could grab your selection, and go to Select-Modify-Contract to remove the halo pixels.
Hey
Could someone help me with the challenge #4 Type and Textures. I am attempting to replicate what Paul made and am struggling with his last design "EARTH" using the ligatures (fi) and (st) buttons in type options. I am having trouble finding the Catalina or Catalinia font that Paul used, and it is not coming up in Adobe fonts. Then I am trying other fonts and do not see the same type of options in the Glyphs panel that Paul had - (the EA and TH combinations).
Could anyone advise where to find this font and/or how to tell which other fonts could help make the same design? Thank you!
This is what I am referring to for reference. at around 18:00 in the stream.
Here the link for the font catallina https://www.dafontfree.io/catallina-font/ and I hope it will help you with your challenge

you used fx box for it or you made it?
Finally, I can post the rest of the challenge with Paul Treni. Unfortunately, for day 6 - Landscape Mixer didn't work and still doesn't work. So, landscape change is missing.

@queen aspen Overall a terrific batch of posts. Great work by you. #4 Super creative interpretation of the T&T challenge. Adding raindrops to create a "looking through a window" effect is awesome. The color palette adds to the vibe. The enhancements also work well. The layer styles you applied to the text are well done. I might make one tiny tweak by increasing the drop shadow opacity to enhance the contrast to the BG image. #5. All of the paintings show a tremendous amount of detail work by you. And they all look great. I especially like the lion and the last model. The last image has a sense of being a multi media realistic artwork. So creative. 💯 . #7 Beautiful pattern. I definitely can see this as a real fabric. Your mock up looks great. The puckers on the sides of the pillow and the shadows give a very realistic feel to the design. Making the pillows green to pick up the green from the plant adds cohesiveness to the design. #8 Solid effort. The overall coloration looks good. The shadow you added to the bridge for the goat works well. The one tweak I have is that the goat does not seem to have as much of the color transfer as the other parts of the design. I might suggest you enhance that a bit more. #9 The sky, the greens, the rainbow are each much more prominent in your touched up design. Looks great.
@queen aspen Behance Portfolio. Very well done presentation. Adding your thoughts on some of the exercises is an interesting approach. A few suggestions: 1. why not add your cover image inside the portfolio? (For your cover image, Id suggest a more definitive color fill for the large text. It could use a boost in contrast against the BG.) 2. I think the issue you have with exercise 6 would be better off just left out completely. 3. I might delete the elephant image in exercise 8. (or work a bit more on it). Your final image is too dark to show properly. As I said, a terrific batch of posts with awesome work. Very well done by you all around.

Isn't it a grand time to just explore the vastness of Adobe Fonts? Ha. Really like the storybook-esque fonts of the H and the S. The negative spaces add some additional visual interest.
Very nice! Love how you kept the typefaces cohesive and instead added interest with the background texture and snowflake elements. Hats off to you!
Love the art-deco-y typeface! The pastels work great with that evergreen background. Can't wait to see what else you make!
Oh boy, I think this color palette wins! Super cohesive and the vintage vibes are strong. What a fun "!". Is it the same typeface as the rest of the letters or did you pick it out? Looks great, Sarah!
Fun! The exclaimation point you chose kind of reminds me of a holly leaf and berry... I wonder if we could build a whole wreath from "!!!!!" 's? Thanks for sharing!!

That one really speaks to me! well done
👏
Good afternoon, all. I'm receiving this message about having to rasterize the type layer which then renders it un-editable. Does anyone know how I can correct this?
hey lisa! what are you trying to do when that message pops up?
I appreciate your response, Kathleen, and you made a great video today for this challenge! I actually figured it out. I was trying to use the color editor rather than the color editor in the text area. I'm just getting used to these menu layers. 🙂 I'm all set and hope to post my edit later tonight!
Challenge 1: Text, shapes and colors. Very glad that Kathleen is again on the stage. I did a la domestic mulled wine bottle instead of a tree, since the type is cheers. I used self made brush with textured image to remind some vitality of the Christmas time on the background.
Day 1. My 1st time ever using Adobe Photoshop.
Hello All, I am a beginner at using Adobe Photoshop. This is my first project
Day 1 - Deconstructed Christmas Tree 🎄
I agree with @sterile bane about the exclamation point font. Which is it?
I'm a long standing beginner. My skill level is 2 or 3, but I try to do something is Photoshop every nine months. I always feel I'm starting fresh. I didn't know how to edit the name from Martins. If someone could tell me how I'll be grateful.
This is my attempt at making a Christmas Card . . . a little deviation from the supplied template.
There is my creation for Day 1. I'm note shure about the typo with the text "from timofish". What do you think about it?
Looks great! In the Layers menu, click on the layer that reads Your Name Here
This is my trial for Challenge #1. I'm with my mother, with a funny photo taken last year with the amazing filters of Snapshat. Do you think it is too dark?
I'm not loving my edit - what I *am *loving is the tips I picked up while editing. Thanks, Kathleen, for the informative video that was packed full of PS tips and tricks!

DCC_D1_C1
I really like this one! The colors are great and I like the suggestion of a tree with the shapes of the letters. For your first one, I think a darker text would help the overall image - its really hard to read on my screen.
Photoshop changes and improves so much that a 9-month break for anyone would set them back a bit! For the text line, “The Martins” is on its own layer. So, if you select that layer than choose the Texf tool, you should be able to select the text and delete/backspace etc and change the text to whatever you want
Looks great! Congrats on your first project. I hope you have many more projects to come.
Wow, first time using PS? I think it looks great with the red/green complimentary colors and I like the subtle tree shape in the background.
Thank you and yep, my 1st time. I've been stumbling and playing around with the program after seeing everyone elses results. its fun.

Challenge One. Lol. I’m not sure if I like the brighter or darker one more.
@hollow tree Welcome in! I can relate, when I'm using new software I try to at least dabble in it once a week or so as to not forget everything. Though after a few days of using it you start to get the hang of where everything is again. To change the name just select your text tool (shortcut T) and click on the names to be able to type something else. It should select the correct layer on the right hand side where it says "your name here".
@prisma horizon Nice work with these designs, I personally like the look of the second design, especially with the hand drawn look of the background tree. This is looking good, also welcome on in!
@quiet ridge I like the folded format you created with this design. The text and background texture came out nicely. Well done!
@short mica Really cool style to these different letters! The triangular tree shapes makes for an interesting style as well. Nice job!
Thank you for the feedback
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@young karma I like the softer, almost pastel colors of this design! It all has a nice harmony to it. The halftone texture used for the tree design is a nice touch as well. Looks good!
@daring remnant Welcome in Lisa! Images should show up directly in Discord without having to click a link or anything. What file format are you uploading? Jpegs work well for Discord and web. I like the softness of the colors in this design, and the sharpness and design of the white text helps make it pop. This is really just up to personal preference. but the thick stroke of the text at the bottom might work with the style of the design a bit better if it was thinner and more elegant like the rest of the design. Nice work!
@vagrant rapids Really cool to see you include a photo with this design! The golden color of the text and the colors in the photo make these fit together really well. I don't think the photo is too dark, but perhaps the design elements on the right could be brightened up a touch with a levels adjustment? This came out really nicely!
@lethal prism Nice job Nick! I like the colors and textures in this design. It might be nice to see a little more texture in 1 or 2 more of the letters to give it a consistent look. Very nice work!
@hard laurel I like the red/green color contrast in this design! Could be interesting to see a version where the background lines are green to push that contrast even more and see if it gives it more of a tree-like look. I don't see a typo, it looks like you spelled your user name right to me. Though you can always go in and change it if you want to make it something else. Nice job!
@vital temple Ooh, very nice! Always fun to deviate and take the challenge in another direction. I like these little characters, they kind of look like little wizard elves. Nice use of texture in this design 👍
@tropic garnet Cool idea for a background! The bold font and stroke around the text was a good choice to give this a clean read on a more involved background. I think the brightness is fairly subtle, but it's nice. Though the darker one almost has a slightly more aged look to it which I think fits with the look and feel of the color palette.
@young karma I like it! The tilt and positioning of the letters work really well to give it that ornamental feel. The illustrated tree element is looking good as well. Cool idea!
@thorn geyser Really cool take on this challenge! The texture in the green of the tree shape as well as the background ties it together as a nice design element and unifies the whole image. The bold design colors against the dark background gives this image some nice contrast as well. Looks good!
@peak python Awesome, welcome in! Really nice job with the drawn tree design, and I like how you arranged the colors. The more desaturated background gives the bolder colors of the text some nice pop. Nicely done!
@copper moss Very cool, I like how you put your own spin on this design with the bottle mockup. The background texture looks good and has a nice contrast against the smoother look of the bottle and text. Nice work 😄
@bleak fossil Thank you
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@queen aspen Really cool variety of text styles in this design! I especially like the 3D look to the S. I really like the texture and subtle glow to the tree design as well. Very nice work!
I don't celebrate Christmas, and my holiday is already over, so I went for this.
Thanks! The text took the longest. I tried multiple strokes before settling on the black.
You’ve nailed my conundrum on the brightness. I liked the brighter one at first. But I also like the more vintage look of the darker one too.

Hooray! Congrats on finishing day 1. Can't wait to see what else you make 🙂
Wow you built a whole scene! That's awesome - especially since we covered digital collages today 🙂 keep up the great work!

very cool, kai! i like the addition of the burgandy stroke around the letters to create some contrast against the tree.
Here's my Day 2 challenge! Had a tough time with the snow, but I think it turned out cute!
fun! digging the yellow detail on the larger letters. i think the "happy holidays" gets a little lost with the yellow detail.. maybe because the letters are smaller? awesome job & can't wait to see what else you make!
so fun, rar! i think the white text is super readable against the red background, nice job. the joyful is a little difficult to read because it's more of a mid-tone when it comes to value (and so it the red in the BG). I might try lightening the gold a little more. thanks for posting!!!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @distant needle
nice job, alyssa! simple, clean and fun. thanks for posting! excited to have you participating in the challenge 🙂
Ooo, did you add a bit of a 3d effect on the letters? i think that looks great - it definitely helps the letters stand out. nice job!
.
so happy to hear that you learned somethin' from the lesson! Really digging the pale green background with the semi-pastel colors of the letters. light & airy. fun!
hey thanks for posting! I think the placement of the letters is great - it's clear that you were intentional about fitting them together well. My only feedback is that I'd probably make the tree in the background and the star the same thickness of line. this would help the viewer focus on the word before they focus on the background detail. keep up the great work!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @outer mural
LOVE this, biola! the different greens in the palette are so nice. loving the extra details of the snow and the animals, too. I wonder if it would look even 1% better if you used a super, super dark green for the cat instead of black? like, basically black but it would help the whole palette stick together just that much more. thanks again for posting!
Day 2:
nice job! so excited to have you participating 🙂 I really dig how you chose a dark purple for the tree - it feels cohesive with the background and lets the other design pieces shine.
you really nailed it, friend! I feel like you took the challenge and evolved it into your own piece of art. can't wait to see what else you make 🙂

Challenge 2 Selections, Clipping Masks, & Textures. Done completely on PS for iPad.
Day 2
Great idea to add yesterday’s “cheers” to today’s image. I think all elements come together nicely. It looks kinda like Santa is taking off after visiting this cabin!
I think the snow looks good! I think the style matches well with the mountains, and those two elements kind of “hug” the cabin and bring it all together.
Definitely thinking outside the box with the vertical layout. I really like that your background is the dark purple. It’s very regal
This gives me the feeling like it’s’ a snowy beach scene. The reflections of the lights it a nice touch - I might give them a slight blur, though. Nicely done!
what channel am i suppost do do then?
Regular #💬chat-general is usually fine to ask people for commission stuff.
ok thank you
Thanks, @compact pecan - that was the idea

Challenge 02: Digital Collage. Cozy greeting. Making collage is so fantastic and fun to do it.
Welp this is day two and this is what I came up with. But seeing others here...WOW
@compact pecan thank you very much.

Challenge 02: Cozy Greetings. I did this in Ai brought as pixels into Ps. I did brushes, a star symbol and light effects also in Ai. Version 2 for today. Thanks.
For some reason I decided to just keep it like a stencil / lino print design Lofi, diy and home made
Hello. Here is my take on Day 2 challenge. All feedback appreciated.
lol whatever works @spark saddle 😂
You have effectively used psychology in your art.... you are ready
@simple idol you should check out the emotional provoking aspects of cinematography, its pretty effective stuff
Also the theory behind different camera shots and stuff
Indeed @spark saddle Used for good and evil throughout history.
I had a challenging time this time. I had to pause the video to figure out what exactly she was doing several times. Some of the things she selected wouldn't work for me. This is my 2nd day on Adobe photoshop and I feel like that was for more experienced people. I will continue to work on this and get my feel around the photoshop program to learn the tools, layers, selections, etc. I almost wanted to give up. Challenging day, sorry.
Its cool 😎
The right side white border, try to make it go on all the sides
Also the 2 far right light bobbles need some shading underneath them
Wait no i take that back
Thank you Kathleen!

This turned into a full blown composite and it’s more of a postcard. But I’m into it. It took a little longer because I used a photo of my house and I wanted to edit that first. There is no snow here ever. It did rain today though, lol.
I ended up having to get creative because there are huge palm trees in front of my house.
@simple idol Your kitty is adorable!! I'm wondering ~ if this is a card, your kitty will be on the back flap. Perhaps do a Horizontal flip. I like the red and black checkered background. Makes the visual solid. Kitty is so cute!
Challenge 2
I learned about this winter festival a few years ago, and I've always wanted to see it.
thanks for the feedback Kathleen

@high mesa Very nice! The texture looks good and the style of the letters all seem like they fit together. Perhaps fading the opacity of the tree design in the background slightly, or giving the letters a bit of a drop shadow might help separate the elements just a bit more? Looks good 👍
@copper moss This card design looks great! I love all the background design elements, and they have a nice balance between them with the area of rest in the center to balance it all out. The sharpness of the tree design contrasts the softer background nicely as well. Well done!
@prisma horizon This came out well! I really like the shape of your cabin lights. Nice job with all the different graphic shapes in the design, looks good!
@copper moss I really like what you did with the shapes in the Day 2 challenge! There's a nice balance between the photographic elements of the cabin and trees and the graphic elements . Nice work!
@quiet ridge Nice work on the day 2 design, cool use of clipping masks with the textures in this one! I think I notice some overlapping shapes in the snow, that seems to have a blue line separating them? Not sure if that's intentional, but perhaps giving them a slight drop shadow, changing the brightness slightly, or changing the texture could all be good ways to separate the shapes more. Well done!
Thanks for the feedback 😀

@velvet yacht I love the inclusion of the illustrated elements with the cabin photo! Really nice look and balance to this. The glow of the lights on the cabin also has a really cool look to it, nicely done!
@young karma Really nice composition and illustrated style to this whole design. The color palette also has a really nice consistent look to it. The background textures add a nice interest to the image as well, nice job!
@compact pecan Very nice collage of images here! Have you been using PS on the iPad a lot lately before this design? How do you like it? I like the pop of color the orange window light gives the image. Nice work!
@young karma Really nice combination of elements here! The snowman, and snow on the trees and falling down add a nice look to the image. The blue background gives the whole design a nice pop of color as well. Very cool!
@young karma Ooh, this is great! I love the shapes in this design, and the cabin angle gives it an interesting dynamic look to it. The shapes have a great paper cut-out feel with the texture and drop shadow. Welcome in and very nice work!
@young karma Nice to see this Day 2 design added in with the first challenge! The background texture and color helps them fit nicely together. I wonder if scaling down both designs might be nice to give them a bit more breathing room and the ability to fold it down the middle if it's meant to be a greeting card. Nicely done!
@pine venture Very nice job with all the overlapping elements in this design, they add a nice feeling of depth. The top part of the design feels like it could be a bit bigger, though I understand you're trying to keep it in the right half of the image. Perhaps if you allowed the right side to be cropped off slightly that would still look good while allowing you to scale it up a bit? Looks good!
@grave moss Neat take on this challenge! I like pop of color the warm yellow has against the cool blue background. I also like the sense of perspective with the stairs/bridge, perhaps if the white/yellow shapes reflected that it could help push that effect even more? Mean, if the bottom/front two shapes were a bit bigger than the top/back ones. Just a thought, nice work!
@distant needle I really like the bold colors in this design! The sky has a really nice contrast against the snow and rest of the elements in the design. I also really like all the patterns and details in the sky with varying levels of contrast which gives the whole thing a nice balance and clear read. Very nice design!
@tropic garnet Cool to hear you used your own photo for this one! I can relate, rain is about the craziest it gets here, hah. Interesting effects in this design. I like the sort of icy texture on the background image. Nice work 👍
@peak python Feel free to ping me any time if you have a step you're stuck on or something you don't understand. There's lots of community members in the #❓ask-a-question section who can help as well. Speaking from personal experience, the first week of learning a new software is the toughest since every tool and every step is new. Once you have a few of the most common tools and techniques down it gets easier. This came out really well by the way! I really like what you did with all the graphic shapes around the cabin, and the textures are looking good as well. Nice job!
@lethal prism Really cool textures in the day 2 design! I like all the falling snowflakes in the background. The color palette works well and the saturated blue tones definitely give it an icy feel. Looks good!
@simple idol Love it, great picture for a cozy greeting card, hah. The flannel border around the edge is a nice touch. One really minor suggestion is it looks like the image of the milk and cookies has a higher contrast than the kitten image. If you use a levels adjustment to ease off the darkest darks and lightest lights jussst a touch it might match even more closely. Looks great!
@scenic anchor Glad you're joining us! This came out really nicely, I like the composition of all these shapes together. The arrangement of the text gives it a very nice energetic look, and the crown drawing in the background works really well. A great design for a greeting card with all the space at the top for text, nicely done!
@wary swan Very nice work! I really like how far you pushed the illustrative elements with the snow on the mountains and all the rocks and details in the snow on the ground. The texture in this design is looking very good as well. I especially like what you did with the textured edges of the snow around the outside edge. Nice work!
@dusky swallow Cool design and color palette on the Day 2 challenge! I like the mandala design and the way you added some texture to the framing and outside edge of the image. One minor suggestion is perhaps it would help the "cozy greetings" text read a bit more clearly at a glance if you added a subtle drop shadow to it. This looks good!
@bleak fossil thank you for your encouraging words. You are so good at constructive critiquing. I have missed being involved in this great community. 😊

Thanks, @bleak fossil ! I have been using PS for iPad a lot more lately! Some of the latest updates has really made it much more intuitive than before, plus I’m getting more used to it. I really like the convenience of it, plus I don’t have to get up off the couch and sit at my desk -haha.

this one looks so peaceful 😇 the only thing I would change is the text - you chose to make the card look hand-made, with pastel colors look and this bright red text doesn't match the vibe
challenge 2
Lighter version
you could also try moving the text layer under the brush strokes overlay or using one of the filter from filter gallery to make it look more hand drawn
This is gorgeous! So Cute! I'm stealing this idea - I mean, I'm inspired!
I absolutely love the combination of red balls and snowflakes! Elegant!
Thanks so much Cathy! 🥰 I went through like four iteration before I landed on this one. I’m really happy with the way it turned out!🙌🏽🎄
I appreciate you saying you went through four iterations - I try to remind myself that most artists don't get it right the first time around.
I don't really print stuff- so I made mine for instagram.
Completed Day # 2
Love the colorful house and the paper art style yo have going on. The bottom feels a little too busy with the holly and text. What if you tried them smaller so the text had more breathing room? Anyways awesome card/ collage
Happy Holidays guys
Thanks for the feedback...

Thank you @bleak fossil You are right I was trying to get more separation with the stroke. I didn't think about the shadow & you are right it should help too

@sterile bane I really like the rough texture on the snow and the mountains.
@young karma I really like your idea and the result is just super.
@young karma Another lovely creation from you. I love the almost animated feeling it gives me. Well done.
Totally! And this ended up so different from what I was picturing, but still within in the theme I had in mind.
Thank you, Cathy! That is more traditional kind of presentation, maybe. I did all effects in Ai and brought to Ps.

really digging how this turned out! maybe i'll try a different color palette so it matches the mockup better. thoughts?
Day 3 challenge was fun! Now I need to get some old B&W family pics and make some magic!
my own photo for today's challenge - colorize a photo.
Day 2... Good fun
😀
I had a probem with the layers and couldn't add a start. I tried creating a new layer and placing it at the top of all other layers but that didn't work either. Help please
Challenge 03: Colorize Photo. I did my own brushes in Ai and bring to Ps to decorate this color photo composition.
Here is my Day 2... Yikes times gets away from me.
Day 3, I have used a n image of my mum when she was 6 months ☺️
Day #3 Felt kind of lacking of good photos to work with, as most have adobe watermark. But did take a little different approach. Hope that you like it.
Orignial photo
Yes! The super saturated colors are such a fun contrast with the old-timey photo. Great job building that wreath, too!
Aw so glad you used your own photo! Thanks for posting

Loving that the watercolor texture from the background is also used in the trees. Now that's what I like to call consistency!
Such a great photo & nice job using that bright gradient to keep your projects cohesive across the different challenges 🙂
Hey there! so sorry to hear you're having trouble. Would you mind sending a screenshot of your workspace with your layers panel in the #❓ask-a-question channel? thanks!
Love the custom colors!!!! It helps the design feel like it all belongs in the same place to have the same hues throughout. can't wait to see what you make next!
Thanks for posting even with the tight turnaround! No rush but I'm happy to see you challenging yourself 😄

How lovely! The sepia tones of the photo and the brown of the background go together nicely. Did you try the colorize filter on the photo? How did it turn out? I quite like the sepia, either way 🙂
Wow the colors really came out well 😮 Nicely done!
Hello, this is my trial for today. I colorized a B&W picture with the neural filters, and then, I added a pink layer in Vivid light, because the resuts I obtained was too sad. I added some snow behind her, it looks like it is stars and I like that!
I was going to say this is dreamy and then I saw that you added "dreamy greetings"! It really gets the vibe across. Nice job 🙂
@sterile bane thank you. I love doing the challenges. This was a cabin I lived in . There wasn’t any snow in the cabin photo. I used 6 photos. Lol. It was a lot of fun.

Really love how you added the paper texture to the mountains as well. Really helps the design to feel like one final piece instead of a bunch of little pieces. Nice!
Oh yes @lost helm! The colorization is beautiful, I also like your picture choice (so cute) and the deco you added.
Thanks for your feedback @sterile bane 🙂

Nice! I really dig the cool/blue color palette. The red feels a little stark against such a soft palette - but it certainly grabs you attention! i wonder how it would look if you tried the light yellow from the star for the red text? Thanks so much for posting!
Really love the painterly texture throughout the entire piece of challenge #2. great!
I agree @sterile bane on the color of the background of the image does not really fit in. Could be an idea to have it a lighter, little frosty tone instead of that peach. 😄 You asked for it 🙂
Thank you @vagrant rapids

Nice! You took my challenge of using different blend modes on the lights - color me impressed 🙂
This is a super creative color palette - kinda neon grungey christmas. I like it!
