#

Still good to see you doing good

#

How's your life going?

Have you been working on any cool projects?

#

I remember you had some great projects

#

What about you you used to be pretty successful in the field from what I remember

wet girder
#

I've never had a profitable project. I have a pretty interesting side project rn with sensors and mesh technology which could be profitable but I'm not working on it because of that

#

I'm currently a conscription corporal tho

#

Worked for a couple years as a software developer before conscription and gonna continue work after I get away from here so like in 3 months and I'm planning to continue my studies by going to study cyber security in university

orchid frigate
#

Cyber sec nice

#

I'm going to do the same next year

#

Applying next month

#

Not really what I wanted but it's the most secure so might as well

Nowadays I spend most of my time finding quick ways to earn a few bucks, smoking and complaining to my friends that they aren't single

wet girder
orchid frigate
#

Nothing with computers. They are a hobby but working with them daily would be awful. I have always wanted to be a special forces soldier and even got a few friends in the field who told me stories, even prepared for a full year high intensity programs but then I remembered where I live and that it would be a shot in the foot to do it. I also have a pretty secure path in cyber sec so it would be nonsensical to not do it

#

It's cliche I know but It is what it is

#

I also wanted to be a pilot but...€200K isn't something I just happen to have

From what I remember you are from Finland so I gotta wonder where you will go

Surprisingly common shit nowadays tbh

#

Compared to the stuff happening in places like Hungary and america Im surprised to say I can't complain

Atleast our oligarch don't give a shit about us enough to allow us to do whatever

As long as he gets his money

raven carbon
#

Not necessarily a coding question, but I'm trying to learn about logic gates. I've gotten a handle on adders and making a 2-in-1 adder and subtractor by using a control line and a series of xor gates on the B inputs. The next step, at least from what I can tell, is handling overflow. I understand how the overflow detection works, but I can't really understand what to do if overflow is detected. Do we just throw the result out? Accept that the data is experiencing overflow and move on like everything is fine? Surely we couldn't add another data line, and mixing 2's compliment with unsigned data sounds like a disaster.

#

Everything I can find online focuses solely on the overflow detection, but stops at the next step of what to do about it.

#

The benefit of the 2-in-1 adder seems to be that you can input unsigned numbers, so as to not limit your range of values as much, but then I can't see a reliable way to determine if the output is negative or not, and the overflow circuit doesn't seem to help that any. Should I just keep everything in 2's compliment and accept that I'm limited to -128 to 127 for values if I want to handle subtraction? If so, the 2-in-1 adder seems rather useless when a regular full adder with inputs already formatted for 2's comp does the exact same job.

You don't even need to write other languages for the python syntax to cause issues. Python is way harder to write maintainable code in because you have to use all sort of tricks to make it readable and do what you want it to do without having type issues

For those who do not understand and need further explanation, I would like to explain it as thoroughly as possible. Since I have taken the time to learn and seriously study the topic, I am sure that anyone who listens to this explanation will be able to understand it easily. I will try to use the language as easily as possible and try to avoid technical terms that may confuse it so that everyone can apply it and convey it correctly. First of all, you need to understand that everything in the world, both natural and artificial, always has a place to go, nothing happens irrationally, everything is logical and scientifically explainable, and as a person who has studied and reviewed this data for a long time, I am ready to explain this to you in the most detailed way. Explaining it scientifically requires the use of proven data and principles. The principles that I will explain are not just weightless words or stories that do not support it. I will try to illustrate and use scientific reasoning so that everyone can easily understand it and certainly apply it. I assure you, no one can explain it as easily as me. Whether it is for physics, chemistry, biology or even mathematics, I am ready to give you examples from everyday life. But in this case, to give you a short summary and a simpler scientific explanation, I have to say that it has the most obvious explanation, and the answer is, I don't know.

it's a small array of max size of 6 by 4.
each cell has a possible 1 of 45 genes (43 if you exclude the 'Harmful Gene' and 'Small Size' gene)
each gene has 4 properties of 1 of 4 colors (Red, Blue, Green and Yellow)

the only problem is see is that each game/map is shuffling the genes color directions
the data is in the map.wbox file, but its needs to be decrypted, and it can only be done here, with that bot

# karmic cave What loss and gradient norm graphs means?

gradients and loss are basic parts of how neural networks learn, loss is basically how wrong the model predictions are and gradients help fine-tune the weights by telling the model how to adjust when the loss is high or low, the gradient norm is just the size of the gradient, which shows how big the weight updates are while the model is learning

St. Louis earned a spot on the Calgary roster to begin the 1998 – 99 season and made his NHL debut on October 9 , 1998 , against the San Jose Sharks . #

Neural nets aren't that RAM/CPU intensive, but it really changes when its like a 3 billion parameter model

#

Right now training it on OpenOrca dataset, little bit larger than the one i used but its kinda late already so im only doing 9k steps

#

Seems that its harder for it to predict (loss range is pretty big as you can see)

#

i guess the dataset has a lot of stuff, instead of some repeating words

#

Still, its pretty small compared to a normal dataset like fineweb-edu (20-30 GB iirc)

#

By the way, its good when predictions are above 0.5 but not too high, meaning the model is actually learning, not memorizing it

0011 is just 3

Same way 03 is also 3

Furthermore binary doesnt have to be 8 bit

The cpu would be able to process at twice the speed

#

Correct?

zinc crater
next mantle
#

Process WHAT at double speed?

#

The speed most modern CPUs are 64 bit

zinc crater
#

Oh lol

next mantle
#

A few very old ones still rely on 32 bit systems

zinc crater
#

I am not very knowledgeable in that stuff

next mantle
#

16 bit is the best balance i cana find for making something from scrstch vs its practicality as a cpu

next mantle
#

Even writing a simple 32 bit cpu from scratch myself would take almost a year a minimum if i focussed on it

#

64 bit is unthinkable without a dedicated team

#

Theres exponentially more jank you need to mess with the higher the system is

zinc crater
#

I mean couldn’t you make it dual cored so that it could handle 2 16 bit actions and make it split tasks between the two cores

next mantle
#

... not quite

#

Theres a shitton of jank to even make this very simple one

#

It isnt simple

#

Veey fun if you figure it out though

# wicked spindle Currently in the process of making a game

spoilers for the structure of the game:
||You can either research a solution with your mom, or hangout with your neighbors (who are your best friends.) Choosing the latter option even once locks you out of the neutral ending, however it sets you towards a path for a much better one (the good ending)

Basically how the good ending works is that you have to find parts for a machine in each of the other houses, if you manage to find all of them, it unlocks a new route on the fifth day, where you can go to the Lab and narrowly avoid the destruction of your world by firing a giant cooling beam towards the Sun.

The neutral ending is much like an ending of the original One Chance (preventing you from dying by the environment), however it’s only a temporary solution and everyone still dies to the Sun soon after. If you fail to meet the requirements of the good ending by the fifth day, you just die and get a bad ending.||

instructions for installing Linux:
prerequisites: USB drive, a computer

  1. go to your preferred distro (distribution)’s website, i recommend Linux Mint.
  2. download the ISO file to your computer, you will need it later
  3. get a USB flashing tool such as balenaEtcher or Rufus
  4. in your program of choice, select the ISO file once it’s downloaded, and the USB drive
(during this step ensure you choose the CORRECT DRIVE, or a bunch of data might be erased)
  5. once the flashing is complete, enter your computer’s BIOS, move the boot priority of the drive to the very top, and disable Secure Boot
  6. boot into the live operating system, and install
