Genes are basically a puzzle: Each gene has different colored connection points (green, red, yellow, blue). If you line up all the connection points of a gene to other connection points of the same color (green <-> green, yellow <-> yellow, etc), the gene becomes yellow and gets a boost.

Honestly, I don't know whcih species are usually the most highest reproductive, but here's the steps: In the Harmony section, make sure there are no population limits on the subspecies you're using > Then go to Gene/Chromosome editor tab and add many "Offspring Chromosomes" the more you get, the better for higher fertility > Key traits are spore reproduction, Short Gestation and Rapid Aging.

I'd ask Air if he knows what the highest fertility species is.
