i'm not sure their should be a special kind of dragon much bigger. I think dragon should not be immortal (except a rare case) but rather long live and with different stage of growth. Each stage they grow bigger (adult size is the actual one) but there is the elder stage for old dragon (they get a bit bigger but also receive some change to their sprite to appear older or atleast to be easier to spot)

2. make the "slave owner" culture to be: expansionist, unbroken chain + ancestors knowledge (they would inherit the same intelligence & would be more likely to rebelled within the same culture), ethnocentric + join or die (obviously), fast learners + reading lovers/attentive readers (make them more intelligent from the "enslaved").
