It's not random. It depends on the biome they're in when the monolith hits.

I'd try evolving them there.

Just make a tiny world, turn off new creature spawning, use the largest brush and paint it all half flat land, half forest, biome it up and drop in the animals and monoliths.

I think most people haven't actually unlocked most of the things in the game themselves, just downloaded a map and got the unlock that way.

Spawn 500 elves and use the magnet to throw them into a pool of lava, a purple text should appear when u do that. Then u can go to world laws and tap the purple book icon and double tap the purple circle in the middle and it should activate the forbidden knowledge though it only works on the world you're currently on and you won't be able to earn any achievements in that world anymore
