any good ways to make more realistic mountains? this is how I currently do it. (i am already aware of plate tectonics, ive studied it many times, I just need ways to actually draw them in)

That is indeed a good way of doing it, yes

It's usually spine-like with a few protruding branches

Also, for some areas it's not just a single mountain range, but a series of parallel mountain ranges

so you may consider adding a bunch of thin ranges next to each other that follow a specific contour

This method is much more visually appealing than just making your mountain ranges extremely thick

yeah sometimes i do that where I take the 1 pixel brush and go in lines to create the "accordion" pattern from two plates colliding. The spiney one i posted is usually after a lot of erosion

Also don't hesitate to add just hills to simulate lower elevation mountain ranges

not all mountain ranges are of the same height, after all

Here's another very handy tip - the way cloth drapes, creases, and folds is quite similar to how real mountain ranges look

Smoother beaches/coasts tend to be more realistic in nature.

Besides that, I think your map is great. Maybe misses some soil and forest soil variation but that's about it.

If you make maps hand-made in worldbox, it's usually best to make use of the Vortex tool.

Not on beaches but on the sea, mountains and forests etc.

There should be a nice distribution of each biome, or if your map is meant to be biomless, a nice distribution of forests and plains + hills and mountains to make everything look natural.

rivers need to look realistic.

if you're tracing maps in paint.net, there's really no way you can get it wrong unless you suck.

although forests and mountains might be hard in tracing maps

I usually just make some shitty looking forests and mountains then use some distort tools to make them look better.

I've been trying to do that for years now but there's just no decent full Azeroth map out there. Every single one of them are based on the ugly, rectangular continent maps of WoW instead of the realistic continents of WC3

I did find a really good one that follows the realistic continents of WC3. It's made by the altcraft peeps, whose maps are the base for all my other WoW maps I've posted over the past two days.

2500x2500, obviously downscaled so it looks like shit.

The normal version is HUMONGOUS (a png that sits at a fricking 173 MB??), so you're going to have to find it in the Altcraft discord.

Sure, you have the generic LOTR dwarves in Ironforge, but then you have Brann's expedition, going ALL AROUND THE WORLD finding treasure, you have the Wildhammer Dwarves, aka dwarves that are druids, love trees and nature and live in hills like hobbits.

even the Dark Iron Dwarves are interesting, with lots of warlocks, fire magic and so on and so forth.

I'm going to say though, the pandaren aren't badly written.

They're actually some of the better parts of lore. I've read all over their backstory lore and it's pretty darn good. I'd recommend taking a read on it if you haven't.

It's the simple fact that they're uncreative as fuck when it comes to the culture and concept that annoys me a lot.

Their lore? good, but spoiled by basically being "panda people that are a lot like the chinese"

No, it's based on the size of the sent image

max is 25x25

the resizing mod had infinite size tho

You have to change the size of the image you're using for the conversion

A 1x1 chunk = 64x64 pixels

That means if you want a 10x10 map, your image has to be 640x640 pixels
