i like it, can see the blend in the lower islands, pretty good, what i try to do is to give the biomes a few isolated forests to give impression of size, a few small dots here and there that somehow look like the were connected to a bigger mass or somehow migrated there.

The mountains on the borders are also a good one, tectonic plates and such things make mountains, you might want to consider a rain shadow, but it looks like a peninsula.

Overall, i like it.

Usually correcting takes a long time.

A good way to fix it is to use programs like Gimp and go by color

Like, blue tiles become crystal biome and slightly red ones either become demonic biome or lava

After that time I tried to make a pirate map and ended up creating a chaotic, satanic one, I was left wanting to make a proper coastal pirate map. I started one halfway through, but I abandoned it in Worldbox for quite a while, even though I used it for 300 years and even added civilizations. Yesterday, I decided to pick it up again, mainly because of the heat waves that are scorching my country and my fantasies of being on a tropical beach. I finally finished it, and this was the result. What do you think?

The size is 20x12. I added civilizations that sort of fit, I added tanned nudist elves, skeletons, demons, at the top there are piranha men, and I'm thinking of adding crab men, orcs and maybe ghosts, to further emphasize the pirate theme, tropical with paranormal and satanic touches.

I accept criticism regardless of whether it's friendly or harsh. But please, no destructive criticism.

Looking at your map, I actually considered and even added bandits to a previous map with this idea because they were the closest thing to pirates I could find. The problem is, those wretches are total kamikazes. No matter how much time I spent purging their explosive traits, they always found a way to blow up and raze their own cities, so I decided to discard them. I also considered crocodile men, but I wasn't sure if they'd fit better in a jungle or a coastal setting, so I left that question open. I ended up choosing all the ones with a skeletal or maritime aesthetic, except for the tanned nudist elves, who gave off a Polynesian vibe.

If you give Bandits the traits Strong Minded (so they won't randomly go insane and attack other bandits), Super Positivity (so they won't get angry and attack other bandits), and Fireproof (so they aren't killed by their own bombs), they usually don't kill themselves

Bandits are in my top 3 favourite civs, so I try pretty hard to keep them alive

Yeah, a random disaster that can happen is that a few people in a village get Madness, which means they become hostile to every other creature. People can also get sad and throw tantrums, which means they attack random people in their village.

Thanks for your advice, but I'm still hesitant to use bandits. I like war, chaos, and bloodshed, but I hate it when a civilization sabotages itself or kills each other for no reason. I much prefer organized warfare, like controlled anarchy. I'd like war to last almost the entire century, but it should be a functioning civilization, not one that simply collapsed because they destroyed their own infrastructure and now the opposing side is devouring them.

I also like to buff units, but not all at once; I evolve them organically little by little. I want there to be a sense that they're getting better and better as time goes on. For example, if a human has 100 HP in year 0, they'll have 300 HP in year 300.

I also tend to give my units a role or ability that can be refined over time. For example, in one world, I made the crabs by the year 400 have armor so tough that it repels 80% of the damage they receive, but at the cost of becoming slower, while the elves became faster and could shoot farther. However, they were more fragile. ETC

I also give all of the different creatures a favourite weapon. Gnapkins use spears, Crocs use swords, Crabs use hammers, etc

I also do something similar, not as rigid, but with a defined range of roles. For example, humans use everything; they're weak compared to the rest, but they use swords, spears, and bows. Orcs use hammers and swords. Crabmen use hammers, elves use spears and bows, and rhinoceros men use hammers and sometimes swords. ETC.

A constant in all my worlds is the avatar I send. I'm a silent god who prefers situations to develop organically and without interference. So, to make a slight intervention, I send a champion, but not one that's overpowered from the start. Instead, it's a being that's a bit stronger and has several attributes, but generally someone I prefer to see develop rather than someone who's simply overpowered from the beginning. Its role is to be like a spectator of events, eternally observing the ages, and sometimes I use it to create chaos or simply to see what it does. It's usually a woman, and I tend to call her Eona.

Once I've finished refining my map, I'll add the missing creatures and some wildlife. I'll publish it for download. I'll send more screenshots of the map in a few moments.

I considered using hyena men here, but I thought that rather than savanna or snowy biomes, this is more of a coastal/pirate environment. Their architecture and ships would fit, but I've already used them too much in several worlds. It's up to the orcs to rule here in the future when I add them.

Seeing as the map was well-received, I think I'll soon release one focused entirely on desert and savanna to better utilize the heat waves. Something similar to the Apocalyptic Wasteland or Sub-Saharan Africa themes. I hope to release it soon, unless university keeps nagging me.

I put a bunch of scorpion, snake, hyena, and cat civilizations in there, and the scorpions somehow annihilated all of the others

Very surprising, even though I don't use scorpions much. I noticed they're more overpowered than I expected. What surprises me is that they've humiliated the hyena men. It usually happens that if I put hyena men in my world, they eventually end up becoming the kings.

I just had an idea. When I make that desert map, I'll let it develop for a thousand years. During those thousand years, I'll create the most anarchic environment possible. I'll keep improving it, making it increasingly hostile, and gradually forging the most brutal weapons for it—not magical ones, but maximum-powered armor and shotguns. Then, I'll destroy the civilization in the year 1000, taking 1000 as the new year 0. This will leave usable ruins and scattered weapons because I'll mark them as favorites. The idea is that when I publish the map, an ecosystem will have been created where the factions will fight not with innovation, but by stealing or reusing structures and weapons, like a power struggle where the winning faction is the one that steals the technology first.

To do better, I'll try to reduce magic as much as possible. Upgrades will be purely physical, or through stolen weaponry. Like a Scavenged Punk.

That's precisely what makes it interesting, haha. I mean, imagine you have to kill a rhinoceros with maxed-out adamantium armor, and it's also carrying a shotgun. And you're forced to kill it to steal its equipment and gain an advantage. Hahaha.

My way of hiding legendary equipment is simply to randomly drop a dozen, not favorite them, and act or play as if nothing happened. Forget you dropped them, decades go by, and bam, you run into warriors with those weapons. You don't even remember how many you dropped, just that you did it, and then you take on the mission of going to find them all over the map.

Fair enough. In my pirate map, I added a powerful sea monster and rewarded the person who killed it with a legendary spear. It then fell into the hands of a random grasshopper and it took hundreds of years for it to be once again in the possession of a civilized creature.

That's why, instead of just throwing a few weapons, I usually throw at least a dozen, so they don't all fall on a single civilized creature, and also to maintain their status as lost or rare. But I want at least a few civilized creatures to have them. In the previous pirate map I made, I did something similar but with crocodiles, and not just one, but an entire species of hypertrophied crocodiles. I liked the balance I achieved that time; they became a recurring threat that sometimes raided cities and killed many, but at the same time, they stayed in a somewhat remote area and didn't die out quickly. Instead, they thrived, attacked a populated area, and then recovered. They lasted for centuries.

Use bright colors and ondulations to give impression of elevations and forests without needing to place trees and such

1. Download a third-party application like "File Manager" from google play,
2. Now go to your phone’s "settings" application, after that find/search an factory system application called "Files" (has a darker blue background with a big white folder in the center of the icon), then click it,
3. you will be showed the "app info" screen after clicked the "Files" application, find the three dots button,
4. After you see the three dots button, click the three dots button and then if it has an "uninstall updates" option there, make sure to choose the option (wait until the uninstalling process is done and completed to avoid a mistake),
5. Now open the third-party application (File Manager) and allow it to manage files,
6. Find the "Android" folder and open it, then open the data folder,
7. You'll see some popup, touch "ok"/"yes" and also touch the "use this folder" button at bottom without opening any files that are showing,

@spare dirge Try to blur the lines between biomes so they don't look so stark. But you should also avoid one biome directly touching another because biomes tend to encroach on each other. You can also add rocks to create a smoother transition. I enjoy creating challenging maps, but realistically, most people prefer a beautiful and believable backdrop for their story, rather than extreme realism. Don't focus so much on making it incredibly realistic.

I'm pretty sure I accidentally corrupted my world, judging by the screenshots I took and sent to Discord. It's the only explanation I can think of. It used to work perfectly, even with 7000 units, and now it's almost unplayable. I think the maps are cursed. Because the last few maps I made and released turned out great, but then they become unplayable for me for some reason. The previous one was understandable; it was too big for my PC. But in this case, I don't know why it happened. I'll abandon it and try again with the apocalyptic desert wasteland map idea I mentioned a while back. Or maybe I'll pick up the alien map I made a while back. .

Your map looks amazing! I'm really drawn to your volcanoes that look like demon eyes. I'd love to have them in my worlds, haha.

The water looks pretty good. I usually put a lot of effort into water, but if your goal was for it to look decent without appearing poorly done, you did a good job.

I finally managed to fix my map. I spent days trying different things and searching online to figure out what was wrong. I finally got it working, but since I was also told it was possibly due to the screenshots, I think I'll avoid sending them for a while.

I also finally introduced crocodile men and hyena men to the world.

The great fortress, that gigantic bastion covering much of the island, built by the crabmen, finally fell. At first, the piranha men and skeletons withstood the siege for years. Then, the situation worsened with the arrival of the elves, accompanied by hordes of orcs. To make matters worse, a city already at odds with Cracba rebelled and supported the invaders. Thus, on one side were the orcs, elves, skeletons, and piranha men, and on the other, their own crabmen brethren. To top it all off, an army of demons arrived from the other side to provide support. Finally, to deliver the coup de grâce, the combined fleet of all the forces destroyed the crab fleet and began bombarding it from the other side, surrounding it on all three sides of the triangle. It was an epic spectacle. Cracba survived thanks to a distant colony that managed to sign a peace treaty. But all that remained was reduced to nothing.

That's what happened. I would have liked to show screenshots, but I don't want to have problems with the map again.

The codebase of WorldBox is synchronized via a version control server called "GitHub", meaning that it's possible to view development activity by checking the profiles on Maxim and mastef on said site. How to unlock the Debug Tools/Debug Menu:

1. Press the "Game Settings" button (the one with a ⚙️ icon) besides the achievements button, in the main tab of the game.
2. After clicking the button, it will open up a menu called "Other". In this menu, you will see another button called "Settings" (once again with a ⚙️ icon), click that button too to enter the settings.
3. "Settings" is The menu that contains some stuff like Interface/UI, Audio, and Graphics settings. Ignore all of those and focus on the burger icon in top left corner of the settings window.
4. Click that burger 11 times until a green bug appears in top right corner of your screen, and done! Clicking the button takes you to the games Debug Menu!

A while back, when I made this alien science fiction map, I tried creating robots using golems. I changed their color to silver, removed their ability to create civilizations (they were mostly just for atmosphere) and gave them shotguns. They almost disappeared shortly after. The strange thing is that despite almost disappearing, something curious happened: they did develop a culture, even with shotguns, and many civilizations were adopting their culture. A culture without civilization emerged and was taken over by the rest. It's the only time this has happened to me. I've never again seen a culture without civilization being taken over by another civilization. What do you think of this world?

This was it, to refresh your memory. And it might sound funny, but I could never really play it because with barely 2000 units it was already unplayable due to so much lag.

I really enjoy drawing coastlines and water. It's very obvious when you look at my coastal pirate/buccaneer style map. I love seeing ships traveling across a vast ocean that feels realistic. It was on the coastal map I submitted that I was finally able to make an authentic pirate map, since the other one I ended up turning into something satanic, lol.

Usually I spend a lot of time making the map, some time balancing the creatures, some time making the cultures, and then I just stay completely hands-off

If a kingdom I don't like is taking over the world, I won't for example, cause a lot of rebellions in the kingdom or summon a natural disaster or bombs against them or something

But what I will do is change their clan traits to have as few members as possible in the hopes that the kingdom will run out of heirs and crumble

noted thank you i been using an 8k image for conversion and seemed that could be an issue so i
speed was relatively okay it generated the map in a minute or so

its odd i had a world map( the one boki made that as photoshop file but downscaled to 8k) made with herzmapper that was 176x68 and it loaded on v0.50.6

but with gloop6's converter i tried loading a 125x50 map and it didn't load despite waiting for couple of hours on v0.22.9
do mods affect the loading of maps even if they are empty ones? i do have a bunch but they don't affect loading of other maps i have
or v0.50 better at loading very large maps but run them poorly

i did make a 50x20 map and it did load in v0.22.9 and it ran well
i did have windows defender flagging the map.wbox files
but it did load the 50x20 map without much issue so im not exactly sure what would be the issue

i suppse i should use a 4k image for conversion and maybe that could help
